Ghanaian boxer John Laryea leaves for California to prepare for his second international match

Ghanaian boxer John Laryea has travelled to the United States to step up his preparations ahead of his next international fight.

Laryea, popularly known as the ‘Expensive Boxer,’ flew out of Accra on the night of Thursday, April 17, and is headed to California to continue training.

The 22-year-old made his international debut in November 2024 when he faced Nicaragua’s Alexander Mejia.

He is now preparing for his second international bout, which is scheduled to take place in the US sometime in May.

Before his departure, Laryea held a final training session in Accra early Thursday morning.

He travelled on a United Airlines flight and is expected to arrive in the US later on Friday.

While in the US, he will train under top coaches and spar with experienced boxers to sharpen his skills as he continues his journey toward winning a world title for Ghana.
