Late mother of Rev Obofuor to be buried on May 31

The Anointed Palace Chapel has shared plans for the final funeral rites of Nana Afia Pokuaa, mother of the church’s founder, Rev Obofour, who recently passed away.

The funeral will be held over three days, starting on Friday, May 30, with a memorial night at the Anointed Palace Mission House.

On Saturday, May 31, there will be a lying-in-state at the same place, followed by a burial service and a private burial.

The funeral activities will end with a Thanksgiving service on Sunday, June 1, at the Anointed Palace Chapel, after which the family will hold a gathering.

Rev Obofour, whose real name is Kwaku Agyei Antwi, announced his mother’s passing on Facebook on February 28, 2025.

According to him, Nana Afia Pokuaa died on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He described her as a woman full of wisdom, kindness, and generosity, and said her memory will live on.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of our beloved mother, Nana Afia Pokuah, which occurred on Thursday, 27th February 2025.

“She departed this life peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering kindness,” the announcement read.

The late Madam Pokuaa leaves behind six children, including Rev Obofour, siblings, and 22 grandchildren.
