Onana to start in Man Utd-Lyon clash – Amorim confirms

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim addressed the media ahead of their Europa League quarter-final match against Lyon at Old Trafford.

The two teams are set for a tough encounter, with the winner over two legs advancing to face either Rangers or Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals in early May.

Amorim began by confirming that striker Joshua Zirkee will be unavailable for the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury.

“Joshua is out for the season. He is not going to play anymore this season. We must prepare him for next season. It is hard for any player to stop, but it’s football. He has to be ready to recover,” he said.

The coach also confirmed that goalkeeper Andre Onana, who missed the weekend’s match against Newcastle United, will be back in the starting lineup. Speculation has been growing about the goalkeeper’s future at the club, but Amorim expressed confidence in his return.

“Onana will play tomorrow,” said Amorim.
“I think as a former coach and a player, I try to do things that can help a player in this situation. We talk about managing players physically, but we also have to manage them mentally. This week, my thinking was to put Onana to play.
“I am trying to be clear on things and make the valuation. Andre is ready to return and to start this game.”
