The Nigerian gospel music community is in mourning following the death of well-known gospel artist Bolaji Olarewaju, better known as Big B.
His family released an official statement revealing that the singer and pastor passed away on April 19, 2025, after a short illness.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as Big B, a beloved father, husband, brother, and respected figure in both the church and gospel music communities. Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday after a brief illness,” the statement read.
Olarewaju was not only a popular gospel musician but also an ordained pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where he was admired for his strong faith and dedication to ministry.
His unexpected death has left a big gap in the gospel music world, with tributes pouring in from other gospel ministers, fans, and RCCG members worldwide.
Many have described him as a talented singer and a humble servant of God, who used his music to inspire and uplift others.
