A timely intervention by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) averted what could have been a major inferno at Effiduase, a suburb of Koforidua, on Wednesday.
The fire, which erupted near Nana Berko School, consumed a five-unit metal container and a commercial kitchen. The first responding crew, upon arrival, encountered an intense blaze and immediately called for reinforcement.
A second fire engine from the Suhum Fire Station joined the operation within minutes, allowing the combined teams to swiftly contain and extinguish the flames.

Their efforts successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby shops and buildings.
While the fire was brought under control without any casualties, it destroyed several personal belongings and goods within the affected shops.
Authorities have since begun investigations to determine the cause of the incident.
