Six dead after VIP bus, sprinter crash head-on at Adansi Dompoase

Six people have died following a road crash at Adansi Dompoase, close to the new Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) facility, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed.

In a release from the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Office, the GNFS stated that a distress call came through at 12:43 pm, prompting the immediate dispatch of a rescue crew to the scene.

Led by ADOII Samuel Mensah, the team found a VIP bus (GW 8455-23) and a Benz Sprinter (GS 6383-20) involved in the crash.

The GNFS noted that the Sprinter was severely crushed from behind, while the VIP bus showed damage to its front portion.

According to the statement, by 1:28 pm, the operation had been concluded, with the six bodies turned over to the Police.

One injured individual was taken to the Fomena Government Hospital for urgent care.

The GNFS added that the exact cause of the collision remains under investigation.
