The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) is urging residents dealing with inconsistent water supply to promptly report the issue at the nearest company office to enable swift intervention.
Nana Yaw Barima Barnie, the Regional Communications Manager for Accra East, made the call during an interview on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV, Friday, April 18. He stressed the critical role community members play in resolving water-related problems, noting that prompt reporting will allow the company to act efficiently.
His comments come on the back of a recent Channel One News report highlighting water scarcity concerns in several parts of the Greater Accra Region. The report showed that many residents have had to depend on private water vendors, often at high costs, due to irregular supply.
In areas like Leisure Street in Nungua, the situation has worsened, with local food vendors and small-scale businesses expressing frustration over the financial burden of securing water for their operations.
Despite these concerns, GWL maintains that its doors remain open to complaints and inquiries. Barnie urged residents not to wait in silence but to take action by visiting any nearby GWL office.
“We would want to urge our customers or consumers that if their water is not flowing, they should do well to approach us, come to our office. There is always an office nearby so you can go and make your complaint, and after the complaint, we will also follow up and see how we can help you to get water,” he said.
“They understand the importance of water in our daily life. Without water, life is impossible, so we expect that if customers or consumers are not getting water, they will kindly approach us and we will find out how we can assist them to get water,” Barnie added.
