Former President Mahama has pointed to the expression of views from some senior members of his party as a sign of the NDC’s growing internal democratic processes.
John Mahama stressed he doesn’t agree with groups and members of the party who view this trend as detrimental to the party’s development and reunification processes ahead of the 2020 polls.
This was mentioned in a press release written and signed by Special Aide to the Former President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari.
The release sought to disassociate John Mahama from some comments made by a certain group alleging to belong to the party affiliated to the former president.

Twelve African farm labourers have died in a head-on collision between a van and a lorry near Lesina in the Foggia region of southern Italy.
The labourers were returning from the fields, packed into a van which had Bulgarian number plates.
Three other people were injured in the crash, including the lorry driver.
Four migrant farm workers died in a similar crash in the same region on Saturday. Many seasonal workers hired by gangs in Italy get very meagre pay.
After Saturday’s crash a union of farm labourers announced a strike for Wednesday, with a “red hat” march to Foggia – a mark of solidarity with the four who died. The red hats symbolise the hats worn by tomato pickers in the fields around Foggia.
Their pay is as low as one euro for picking 100kg (221lb) of tomatoes.
Conditions are very precarious for thousands of African migrants in Italy, where the populist government is trying to stop people-smuggling gangs sending more boatloads from Libya.
The boats are perilously overcrowded and more than 1,500 people have drowned crossing the Mediterranean this year, the UN refugee agency says.
More than 650,000 migrants – mostly from sub-Saharan Africa – have come ashore in Italy since 2014, stretching resources in regions already struggling with high unemployment.

According to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) Menzgold, which is known as a precious minerals trading company, is carrying out unlawful transactions by taking deposits.
In a public notice issued by the BoG, it said the company has no authority to engage in what it says are the “solicitation, receipt of money or investment and the payment of dividends or returns to its clients.â€
The central bank maintained that Menzgold is in breach of section 6(1) of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).
BoG further said in spite of several warnings to the company, Menzgold continues to engage in the illegality; hinting that discussions were already underway with regulatory authorities to enforce the appropriate action on the company.
The central bank, however, cautioned the general public against transacting business with Menzgold.
“Accordingly, anyone who transacts any of the above-mentioned businesses with Menzgold Ghana Company Limited does so at his or her own risk and the Bank of Ghana will not be liable in the event of loss of investments or deposits.â€

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has warned the public against making cash deposits with and engaging in any form of investment with gold investment firm, MenzGold Ghana Limited.
According to BoG, it is putting in places measures to take action against the firm for breaching the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).
“The Bank of Ghana is in discussions with other relevant regulatory authorities towards the taking of appropriate action against the company,†it said in a statement issued Monday.
BoG said Menzgold does not have the authorization and requisite licences to operate in such capacities.
“The Bank of Ghana wishes to reiterate that Menzgold Ghana Limited is NOT LICENSED and has no authority to engage in the solicitation, receipt of money or investments, and the payment of dividends or returns to its clients,†it said.
The carrying out of these unauthorized transactions by Menzgold, according to BoG, is in breach of Section 6(1) of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).
It has therefore warned the  public to desist from transacting business with the company which deals in gold buying in Ghana.
In May 2018, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison said the Bank of Ghana was collaborating with the Lands and Natural Resource Ministry to bring Menzgold to book on its unauthorized taking of deposits.
Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah has on several occasions denied claims that his firm takes deposits.
But BoG insisted the gold firm does so despite several cautions to the company.

Pop star Pink has been forced to cancel a series of concerts in Australia after contracting a gastric virus.
The US star initially postponed one date last week “with great frustration” but battled through a performance on Saturday night.
She was subsequently admitted to hospital in Sydney twice, according to promoter Live Nation.
Monday’s concert was called off as fans began to arrive at the venue, while Tuesday’s show was also postponed.
“Pink will remain in hospital overnight, continuing her treatment and recovery,” said a tweet from Live Nation.
The star, whose real name is Alecia Moore, will be reassessed by doctors on Tuesday.
Her next scheduled concert is on Thursday and tickets are still on sale via Live Nation’s website.
The promoter has not indicated whether further cancellations are likely, but said “a further announcement will be made when an update becomes available”.
The 38-year-old has been fighting sickness on and off during her marathon Australian tour, which began last month.
Shortly before arriving in Sydney last week, she tweeted fans to ask: “Does anyone have a favourite place that makes wellness shots and fresh juices for when I get there?”
P!NK’s performance scheduled for tonight at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena has been postponed.
Pink was admitted to Hospital on Sunday night, treated and discharged.
After postponing Friday’s concert on medical advice she was pictured on the beach with her husband Carey Hart and children Willow and Jameson, prompting criticism from Australia’s tabloid press.
Pink later took to Instagram to defend herself, saying: “What these parasite paparazzi don’t show you, is two doctor visits in Byron [Bay] on two consecutive days, antibiotics, steroids, Vick’s, nose spray, throat spray, more steroids, NyQuil [and] a screaming baby in the middle of the night.
“I have never phoned in a single tour, I have an impeccable record for not cancelling… I’m doing the absolute best I can.”
Most fans have been sympathetic towards the singer, whose hits include So What, Just Like a Pill and Get the Party Started.
“She can’t help being sick,” wrote Michelle Hansell. “Give her a break, she’s human just like the rest of us. Get better soon.”
“I doubt anyone is more disappointed or upset than Pink is herself. Give her a break guys!” added fan Jessica Robinson.
“Hope you feel better soon,” said Keryn. “You still amazed and blew us away on Saturday night in Sydney even though you were still sick. What a champion effort! Please take care of yourself.”
Others fans expressed anger that Monday’s show had been called off just hours before Pink was due on stage.
“Pink just cancelled again with people already lining up,” wrote Shanie on Twitter.
“Just found out tonight’s concert is postponed, after 9 hours travel and a night to stay Sydney,” said Russ Silversmith.
Yet others said it would be unwise for the star to undertake her physically demanding show, which involves high-wire acrobatics, while feeling unwell.
“It’s good #pink cancelled,” said Nicole. “You don’t want someone flying above the audience with gastro.”
Absolutely sucks that the whole reason we came to Sydney was for Pink’s concert and it’s been postponed (and we can’t make it back down no matter the date). There’s nothing we or she can do but at least we got a family trip to Sydney out of it I guess 😞

The Texan singer goes on to talk about having an emergency C-section when she gave birth to twins Rumi and Sir after concerns that the health of all three of them was in danger.
In that time she describes suffering from pre-eclampsia and being on bed rest for over a month.
Afterwards she “accepted what my body wanted to be” and “enjoyed my fuller curves”.
“To this day my arms, shoulders, breasts, and thighs are fuller,” she says.
“I have a little mommy pouch, and I’m in no rush to get rid of it. I think it’s real.”
Beyonce also spoke about her decision to work with Tyler Mitchell and the importance of opening doors for younger artists.
The 23-year-old photographer made history as the first black photographer to shoot a September cover in the magazine’s history.
“There are so many cultural and societal barriers to entry that I like to do what I can to level the playing field,” she writes.
“If people in powerful positions continue to hire and cast only people who look like them, sound like them, come from the same neighbourhoods they grew up in, they will never have a greater understanding of experiences different from their own.”
Tyler wrote that he was “honoured to have worked with such an icon” in a post on his Instagram.
Expanding on her past, Beyonce talks about her many performances, including Coachella and the On the Run II tour, and reveals that she learned she descends from “a slave owner who fell in love with and married a slave”.
This information took her time to “put into perspective”, but she says she believes “it’s why God blessed me with my twins”.
In terms of her legacy, the Grammy award-winning artist says it’s important for her two girls and son to “see themselves” in books, films and as CEOs.
“I want to learn more, teach more, and live in full,” she adds.

He said players from other African countries have developed interest in the competition and would be eyeing it each year.
Mr. Afadzinu, said Table Tennis was becoming popular again and corporate bodies like Stanbic Bank and others are now investing into the sport, so players, officials and organisers should give off their best to ensure classis shows.

Fifa and Caf Liaison team member for Ghana Francis Oti-Akenteng says the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season has been truncated, with the new season likely to begin in August next year.
The top flight has been put on hold by Ghanaian authorities after some referees and top football administrators were caught on camera indulging in malpractices.
The liaison team member believes this is the right opportunity to sanitize the system and synchronize the local season with the European calendar, amid calls for the resumption of the competition.
“We all want the best so let us use this period to improve the standard of our league with this glorious opportunity from God,”Akenteng told Angel FM.
“Many Ghanaians said they want our calendar to move with the European calendar which starts in August/September but let me ask are we ready for it this year? Definitely No!
“So we have one year difference which is next year to organize our league and we must all support this idea.
It got to a time that Ghanaians stayed for six months without the premier league so let’s wait for just one year and see what we can do.
“We are still experiencing some difficulties as Liaison team so Ghanaians must exercise some patience,” he added.
Goal understands that with the latest development, Medeama and Ashanti Gold could to represent the country in Caf Champions League and Caf Confederation Cup respectively next season.

A US-based Ghanaian law professor, Kwaku Asare, has waded into the controversies surrounding the Ameri deal renegotiation.
In a Facebook post on Monday, 6 August 2018, Prof Asare wrote: “I want to know what happened in the renegotiated AMERI. Who was on our team? Did our team lack the knowledge, preparation, expertise? Did AMERI mislead or bribe our team? Was poor judgment exercised? If so, by whom? Was there an attempt to perpetrate a fraud or is there corrupt intent? If so, how? What role, if any, did the Attorney General, Cabinet, etc. play? Is the Chief of Staff monitoring deals signed by the President to ensure that they are in the interest of the country?
“What is the process, including reviews, by which an agreement transitions to a contract and travels from the ministry to the Presidency and to Parliament? Only when we know answers to such questions can we hold the right people accountable and ensure that such financial chicanery will not recur.â€
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration recently began taking steps to amend portions of the controversial $510 million deal signed by the John Mahama administration.
The current government believes that there was no value-for-money in the deal signed by the NDC administration, hence the renegotiations.
The renegotiated deal, which has now been cancelled by the president, was expected to be approved by parliament when the House resumes from recess.
However, the move has created controversies.
For instance, the Senior Staff Association of the Volta River Authority (VRA) has described Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, as an “incompetent†appointee, indicating that contrary to his claims that Ghana will gain $405 million from the new power deal with Ameri Energy, the country will rather lose up to $472 million.
“There is no such savings anywhere in the new contract. This nation will be worse off since Ghanaians will rather be paying an additional cost of US $472 million to Mytilineos International Trading Company for absolutely no work done,†Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of VRA, Cephas Duse, stated at a press conference on Monday, 6 August 2018.
He said the amount is “beside the US$255 million we have already paid for the first two-and-a-half yearsâ€.
“Is it not ironic that in renegotiating a contract which is supposed to have been overpriced by US $150 million, we end up increasing the cost by US$727 million? Is this the type of review we were promised?†he questioned.
Mr Duse stated: “We think that this misleading comparison and computation was disingenuously done by the Energy Minister to deceive Ghanaians. This shows that the Honourable Minister is incompetent, lacks integrity or absolutely not on top of his jobâ€.
The VRA Senior Staff Association stated emphatically that the Energy Minister’s claim that the Novation and Amendment Agreement will save the country some money, is “misleading, flawed and inaccurate”.

Businesses are shut in South Sudan’s capital, Juba, as people celebrate the signing of a power-sharing deal aimed at ending a brutal five-year civil war.
The deal will see rebel leader Riek Machar return to government as one of five vice-presidents.
He and President Salva Kiir signed the agreement in neighbouring Sudan.
Tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions displaced in the conflict which broke out about two years after South Sudan’s independence.
South Sudan seceded from Sudan in 2011 but plunged into conflict in December 2013 following a power struggle between Mr Kiir and Mr Machar.
Previous attempts to find a solution to the conflict have failed.
“An agreement on outstanding issues has been signed and this agreement expresses the commitment of all parties to a ceasefire,” said Sudanese Foreign Minister Al-Dirdiri Mohamed, who helped to broker the deal.
South Sudan’s ruling party has declared an unofficial holiday to celebrate the signing of the accord, reports the BBC’s Nichola Mandil from Juba.
Its members are driving around neighbourhoods in Juba, using loudspeakers to spread the news, he adds.
Most businesses in the capital are shut, and people are being urged to attend a celebratory rally Mr Kiir is due to address, our reporter says.
Speaking after the signing of the accord in Sudan, Mr Kiir said the government and rebels should “rededicate ourselves to unite our people and work for a peaceful transfer of power through the ballot boxes rather than through bullets”.
Mr Machar urged mediators to focus on the implementation of the deal because the “devil lies always in the implementation”.
South Sudan is rich in oil, but its economy has been devastated by the conflict.

The current tax incentives arrangement for foreign investors looking to invest in key sectors of the economy ends up financing multinationals to the detriment of local businesses who continue to wobble under severe taxation, Marwan Ansah, Western Regional Chairman, Senior Staff Union of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has said.
He said if government really wants to create jobs through the private sector, it should reconsider its “outrageous†tax incentives to retain some revenue for development.
“We think that the current arrangement for tax incentives are outrageous; even though the intention is to woo investors, the current arrangement is not prudent as it is inimical to Ghanaians.
Tax incentives are not wrong, but it appears we are giving too much away and not getting anything in return,†he told the B&FT in an interview at a forum on “Illicit financial flows and the needed revenue for public services development†organized by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), in Dodowa, Accra.
To him, the country—and Africa as a whole—has virtually become a source of capital for multinational firms, which he said, is not in the interest of the economy.
He added: “We need to put efforts together to ensure that when they [multinationals] come here to make the money, they give back to us and not take it all away. As it stands, Ghanaians are helping the foreign investor to make money and walk away.â€
Also, he queried: In areas where we have succeeded, like the extractives sector for instance, we have gold which attracts investors, so why give incentives?
According to the Marwan Ansah, it is a good thing for the government to woo investors by creating an enabling environment that makes the investor feel comfortable and less burdened, but not when the outcomes does not reflect on the economy.
Per the current arrangement, he said, it is as if government is financing foreign investors with such outrageous tax incentives for them to make money and ship them out instead of us [country] benefiting from them.
“There is erroneous impression that government is creating jobs when we are actually financing multinationals and taxing people who are making little.
Even though VAT was not increased in the budget, naturally some form of increase has shown up, which will be inimical to Ghanaians but multinationals will make the money and walk away,†Mr. Ansah noted.
According to the World Bank, tax incentives costs the country about 5percent of GDP which amounts to US$2billion annually.
Participants at the workshop comprising various trade unions and civil society organisations implored on government to review its current tax treaties to ensure that they do not become a source of tax losses.
“Government should consider renegotiating tax treaties that are no longer fit for purpose,†the forum recommended.
The two-day conference provided the avenue sharing and discussing the various constraints and opportunities to domestic revenue mobilization in the country.
Participants also discussed the threats of privatization to quality public services delivery and how much the country losses to tax incentives and other waivers to multinational companies.

Previously worn by Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, among others, the 20-year-old now sports one of the most coveted shirts in football Manchester United have confirmed that Marcus Rashford will wear the club’s iconic number 10 jersey when the new season begins.
Rashford donned the famous shirt for the first time on Sunday evening, as United fell to a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in their final match of pre-season.
It was the striker’s first match since returning from post-World Cup holidays, the 20-year-old taking in 63 minutes of first-team action as the Red Devils fell to defeat.
All the same, Rashford will be thrilled to pull on the shirt, having had his eye on the number for some time, manager Jose Mourinho explained.
“He wanted it,†the gaffer told MUTV. “He always wanted it. Of course, he respected the big [Wayne] Rooney and then Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] wanted to have it.
“Of course, he was in the shadow, waiting for the opportunity and now the shirt is empty.
“It’s something fantastic for the kid, let’s give the shirt to him.â€
As mentioned, Ibrahimovic previously wore the shirt after Rooney departed the club for Everton, with the latter having donned it for 11 years during his time at Old Trafford.
Rashford, however, becomes the first homegrown player to wear the number since David Beckham sported it in the 1996-97 campaign.
Other big names to have famously worn United’s famous 10 include Teddy Sheringham, Mark Hughes and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The switch in number represents Rashford’s third change in four seasons as a first-team player, first being handed 39 by Louis van Gaal in his debut year followed by the number 19 the following season.

According to him, presidents work hand-in-hand with their ministers and the technocrats at the ministries, departments and agencies, and, so, there is a possibility that the president can be deceived.
Mr Poku noted that the president is not a technical person when it comes to issues of energy, therefore, he can only rely on the technocrats and his minsters for support.
He told Chief Jerry Forson on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM Monday, 6 August that: “The president works with technocrats and also has ministers he works with, and, so, it is possible that the president can be misled, especially when he is not a technical person.
“With the new Ameri deal, cabinet and the Minister of Energy briefed the president on the deal and he approved of it, but maybe, after sensing errors in the deal, he sought a second opinion and arrived at the conclusion that he was misled. There is nothing wrong with it. The good thing is that he was able to seek other opinions and realised that he was misled.â€
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recently approved the new deal pending parliamentary approval.
A statement signed by Secretary to the president, Nana Asante Bediatuo, dated 25 July 2018, stated that: “The President of the Republic of Ghana has granted executive approval for the Novation and Amendment Agreement dated July 20, 2018 between (i) the Government of the Republic of Ghana represented by the Minister of Energy (or his authorised representative), (ii) Volta River Authority (VRA), (iii) Africa and Middle East Resource Investment Group (AMERI ENERGY), (iv) Ameri Energy Power Equipment Trading LLC (AMERI EQUIPMENT), (v) Power Projects Sanayi Insaat Ticanet Limited Sirketi (PPR), and (vi) Mytilineos International Trading Company AG (Mytilineos), for operations and maintenance of the existing 250MW AMERI Thermal Plant at Aboadzi, for a period of 15 years.â€
Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, told journalists before parliament rose a couple of weeks ago, that the House needs to “interrogate the figures to know that what we are doing is in the best interest of the country, which explains why [the debate on the deal has been delayed].â€
“I spoke to the Finance Minister, I spoke to the Attorney General plus the Minister of Energy and we all decided to tarry a while and have a closer look at it,†the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said.
The government, on Wednesday, 25 July, laid a paper before parliament for the amendment process to start.
It was referred to the Joint Committee on Finance and Mines and Energy for consideration and report by the First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu.

Tunisian giants Club Africain have refused to pay Seidu Salifu his owed entitlements two years after FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber ordered them to settle the Ghanaian midfielder.
In February 2016, Salifu unilaterally terminated the contract with the Tunisian club having his salaries unpaid.
By the decision issued on 8th September, 2016 pending debts were found sufficient and termination by the player was, thus, made with just cause.
FIFA DRC obliged Club Africain to pay to the player all the debts together with the compensation for unilateral termination of contract with just cause.
The 24 year-old last played for Turkish side Umraniyespor.
