  • I warned Nyantakyi about ‘hypocrite’ Isaac Asiamah – Alhaji Grusah

The Bankroller of King Faisal Alhaji Karim Grusah has launched a scathing attack on Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah, describing him as a ‘hypocrite’ and ‘pretender’.

According to Alhaji, he forewarned Kwesi Nyantakyi about the pretentious nature of the Sports Minister but the former GFA capo failed to heed to his caution.

“I told Kwesi Nyantakyi to be extra careful with Hon. Isaac Asiamah. He smiles with you but hates you deep down. Hon Isaac Asiamah classmates have told me about his character.”

“Hon. Isaac Asiamah denied me of the stadium renovation work. He refused to give me the job.”

“I don’t want to talk about Hon. Isaac Asiamah because people think I hate him because he denied me a contract.”

Read: Nyantakyi will be exonerated and reinstated, says former collaborator Yankah

I have all the rights to feel bad or hate him for denying me that contract. I have been an NPP member longer than him despite the fact he is MP and a minister.

He said, ” What I have done for NPP, Hon Isaac Asiamah can’t do the same before he dies because he doesn’t want to learn and does not know what he is doing.”

“If Hon. Isaac Asiamah is refusing to help the media, then the media should stop helping him. I am the right person to be the next GFA president.”

The experienced Administrator claims Dr Amoah shouldn’t have given directly the money directly, rather he should have given it the technical team and coach to share it to the players.

He said, ” Dr Kofi Amoah didn’t do well by sharing dollars to players. He didn’t apply his maturity. He should have given the money to the technical team or the coach to share it to the players. That’s how it was supposed to be done.”

“The Liason team clearly don’t know what they are doing. I’ve been trying to have a meeting with President Nana Akufo Addo but to no avail,” he added.

He continued, “Hearts and Kotoko are the only clubs that can help us in this predicament that we are in currently. I ‘ve benefited from doing football but currently, I won’t advise anyone to invest in Ghana football now.”

“It’s nonsense to have allowed Eddies Doku who was captured in the video taking the bribe to sign their petition to FIFA.”

Alhaji Grusah believes he can turn things around if voted the new GFA President hence, he is ready to contest for the position.

“I am the only one that can save the game.”

“Just give me 4 years and I will turn around the game for the best. I will change a lot of things when I am the next GFA president,” he said.

“Insuah Allahu, I will contest for the GFA presidency in 2019. I am not joking. SWAG president Kwabena Yeboah will be my special aid to help with his big English.”

  • Man Utd: Jose Mourinho hoping for one more signing before window shuts

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said he hopes one target from the list of five options he gave the club will arrive before the 9 August transfer deadline.

Mourinho made the comment during a tetchy 10-minute post-match news conference following United’s 4-1 International Champions Cup defeat by Liverpool at Ann Arbor, in which he also said:

*If he was a fan, he would not have paid to watch these teams

*The match against Liverpool “gave me nothing at all”

*The referee thought he was officiating a baseball game

*Antonio Valencia had “too much holiday” and returned in poor condition

*Mourinho’s list of transfer targets is understood to relate to central defence, an area in which he is particularly keen to strengthen.

United have been linked with Leicester’s Harry Maguire and Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld, while Mourinho has expressed an interest in Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng and Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar.

The Portuguese dismissed any chance of making the second signing he feels he needs.

“I would like two more players. I don’t think I’m going to have two,” he said. “I think it’s possible I’m going to have one.

“I gave my club a list of five names a few months ago. I wait to see if it’s possible to have one of these players.”

‘This game gave me nothing at all’

Mourinho warned at the start of his side’s pre-season trip to the United States that his team could suffer some bad defeats.

Andreas Pereira’s fine free-kick cancelled out Sadio Mane’s penalty in the first half of their latest fixture, but Liverpool ran out winners as Daniel Sturridge, Sheyi Ojo and Xherdan Shaqiri found the target for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

This was United’s first loss of their tour, although Mourinho pointed out the vast majority of the players on show will not be part of his plans for the season ahead.

He said: “This is not even 30% of my squad. What about Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Antonio Valencia? This is our squad.”

Mourinho revealed defender Eric Bailly was not due to play but stepped in because of Chris Smalling’s withdrawal with an injury sustained in the warm-up.

The United manager said: “Eric just felt it wasn’t fair to the other guys to throw another kid on the pitch.

“We are trying to play these matches as best we can and to avoid ugly defeats but this one gave me nothing at all.”

  • Disregard malicious, mischievous headlines about me – Mould-Iddrisu to NDC

Former Attorney General Betty Mould-Iddrisu is urging members of her party, NDC, to disregard media reports alleging she admitted wrongdoing in the infamous Woyome scandal still being battled in Court.

Betty Mould-Iddrisu, also a Vice Chairperson of the party claims such reports are ‘premised on mischief’ and ill-intended.

In a press release issued by her Aide, Sawadogo Mahmoud, Betty Mould-Iddrisu expressed ‘shock’ and disappointment at the headlines deduced from a cordial interview she granted Ghanaweb on the show ’21 minutes with KKB’.

It was noted in the statement that “The interview centered on a variety of issues including how she has continued to deal with the continuous character assassination and being bastardized. It was to this question that Madam Betty Mould gave a general overview on how as humans we sometimes err and sometimes you do not even see that the sword is being sharpened for you to fall on.”

“At no point in the interview whatsoever did Madam Betty admit either overtly or covert any form of wrongdoing on the part of the government as regards the Woyome saga. Indeed, Madam Betty Mould cited the ruling of the Appeals Court which dealt with the criminality of the matter and concluded that she at all times acted professionally and consistent with the law” the statement contained.

Betty Mould on ’21 minutes with KKB’

We have noted with disquiet several news headlines generated from an interview Madam Betty Mould had on the show ’21 minutes with KKB’ which is available on Ghanaweb and Youtube.

Our disquiet is premised on the mischievous headlines that sought to create the impression of an admission of wrongdoing on the part of Madam Betty Mould Iddrisu during her tenure of office as the first female Attorney General of the Republic of Ghana.

The interview centered on a variety of issues including how she has continued to deal with the continuous character assassination and being bastardized. It was to this question that Madam Betty Mould gave a general overview on how as humans we sometimes err and sometimes you do not even see that the sword is being sharpened for you to fall on.

At no point in the interview whatsoever did Madam Betty admit either overtly or covert any form of wrongdoing on the part of the government as regards the Woyome saga. Indeed, Madam Betty Mould cited the ruling of the Appeals Court which dealt with the criminality of the matter and concluded that she at all times acted professionally and consistent with the law.

We are therefore shocked that such malicious and wickedly fabricated headlines can emanate from very respected news portals based on what was largely a fruitful, cordial and lively interview.

It must be noted that Ghanaweb which originally published some of the misleading headlines agreed to edit it to conform with what actually transpired in the interview and so it will be disingenuous and a clear pursuit of an agenda for any media house or news portal to continue to churn out such mischievous headlines.

The general public, especially members of the NDC, should disregard any such publication and treat it with the contempt it deserves. For the avoidance of doubt, the interview is available on Youtube and Ghanaweb for discerning minds to watch and draw their own conclusions.

    Thank you.

  • Citi FM, OccupyGhana petition Nana Addo over health crisis

Citi FM and OccupyGhana have petitioned President Nana Akufo-Addo to demand the operationalization of all newly built but abandoned healthcare facilities.

The petitioners are also pushing for a comprehensive Emergency Response System (ERS) in Ghana.

The two petitioners contend that the matters at hand have “reached a crisis point.”
“The matters now require drastic measures, one of which is our request herein that the President takes urgent steps to operationalise the facilities and institute the ERS throughout Ghana.”

They urged the president to “put in place and publish a clear roadmap with timelines for addressing the matters.”

The work of the Citi Breakfast Show is highlighted for its advocacy and tracking of abandoned healthcare facilities.

This has revealed that “although an amount of $1 billion has been committed to various facilities, some that are completed are not in use while others have either been abandoned or fallen behind the scheduled date of completion with no remedial actions being taken.”

It is the conviction of the petitioners that the facilities, when operationalised, will “reduce pressure on the existing tertiary and regional referral facilities and add about a 4000-bed capacity to the existing nationwide figure of about 20,000 beds.”

The University of Ghana Medical Centre, the first phase of which was recently opened, was among newly built healthcare facilities that was sitting idle over 18 months after it was commisioned, because of a spat between the government and the University of Ghana over who should manage the facility.

The 1,000-bed maternity & paediatric block at KATH that has been abandoned for over four decades, the Police Hospital in Accra and the KNUST Teaching Hospital are some of the projects noted in the petition, that have been abandoned.

The no-beds syndrome has left healthcare providers with no option but to treat emergency cases on the floor or chairs in some cases.

Read: No bed syndrome: Completed hospitals left to rot enough to provoke demo NDC MP

This is after the death of 70-year-old man who was turned away by seven hospitals over a lack of beds prompted the Ghana Health Service to direct that emergency cases be treated regardless of the medical logistics.

The petition also includes an 11 point plan for a comprehensive emergency service system that includes the provision of an adequate number of ambulances for the population, improved support to the National Health Insurance Scheme, the establishment of an ERS Command Centre and the provision of more community hospitals.

The petitioners maintain that “poor health care is a gross violation of the inherent right of the people to good healthcare.”

“We believe that the President has a sacred duty to ensure that the right thing is done. That is why we are calling for a direct action by the President to ensure that these matters are addressed by, first, ensuring that all identified facilities are operationalised forthwith, and second, instituting a workable plan for emergency healthcare in Ghana.”

  • Reinstated DSP Tehoda resumes work today

DSP Gifty Tehoda is expected to resume work today (Monday) after she was reinstated by the Ghana Police Service and promoted to the rank of a Chief Superintendent.

Her reinstatement comes after a Human Rights Court ordered the Police Service and Inspector General of Police, David Asante Appeatu to recall her after she was dismissed in 2012.
The judge also held that the police breached the rule of natural justice for a fair hearing, as DSP Tehoda was not given an opportunity to be heard during the service enquiry by the police leading to her dismissal.

She was dismissed from the service for her alleged involvement in the case that was widely known as the “Cocaine turn baking soda” scandal.

After years of legal battle, the court declared her not guilty Accra on March 31, 2017

The court also awarded her GHS 38,000 in damages for her wrongful dismissal and wrongful detention.

While the police has ensured she resumes work today, it is unclear if the service has honoured its financial obligation as directed by the court.

The case involving DSP Tehoda began on September 27, 2011, when one Nana Ama Martins was arrested for possessing large parcels suspected to be cocaine, which later turned into bicarbonate or baking soda.

DSP Tehoda was linked to the disappearance of the cocaine and was interdicted and subsequently dismissed from the Police Service.

She was then the Deputy Commander in-charge of the Commercial Crimes Unit.

But three years after her acquittal, the Police Service did not reinstate her, forcing her to go to the Human Rights High Court to challenge the wrongful dismissal by the Ghana Police Service.

  • Wayne Rooney scores first DC United goal in win over Colorado Rapids

Former England striker Wayne Rooney scored his first goal for DC United in a 2-1 home win over Colorado Rapids in the MLS.

The 32-year-old scored the opener for his side when he sent a shot through ex-Manchester United team-mate Tim Howard’s legs.

Kellyn Acosta equalised before Rooney, who was named captain of his side, was twice denied by saves from Howard.

But a Niki Jackson own goal in the 90th minute gave DC United the win.

Rooney suffered a bloody nose when defending during stoppage time as DC United held on and coach Ben Olsen praised the forward’s impact since his arrival from Everton last month.

“I don’t think it’s the first time he’s bled in a game. He is a tough guy and I think that he will shake it off,” Olsen said.

“He has been fantastic in every aspect, in every way that we want him to be with this group – with his leadership and goal-scoring ability. Hopefully, it can continue to get better.”

  • Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra and 6 other whirlwind A-list engagements

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are said to have been dating for around two months, and now he’s popped the question, according to reports.

A source told People that the musician proposed to the Quantico actress in London last week.

Neither Jonas or Chopra have confirmed the reports, but that didn’t stop fans from congratulating them (and commiserating each other).

But they aren’t the only ones in Hollywood to have got engaged after whirlwind romances.

    1. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin

The 24-year-old pop superstar got engaged to the model earlier this month after reportedly popping the question at a Bahamas resort.

The couple had only recently reunited after dating back in 2016.

The singer confirmed the news on Instagram and wrote: “Hailey I am soooo in love with everything about you! So committed to spending my life getting to know every single part of you loving you patiently and kindly.”

    2. Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee

The stars of today seem pretty tame compared to Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, who got married just a few days after meeting. Gotta love the ’90s.

They had two sons together before the Baywatch star filed for divorce.

    3. Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson

Ariana Grande blindsided fans when she confirmed the end of her relationship with rapper Mac Miller in May 2018.

And after a few weeks of dating comedian Pete Davidson, she shocked her fans again when he announced their engagement in June. Safe to say, Pete loves her harder.

    4. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

Although they were an unlikely match, the couple wed in the Caribbean in April 2008 after just over a month of dating.

In 2014, the comedian filed for divorce and it was finalised in 2016.

They had twins, Moroccan and Monroe, and make co-parenting look like a total breeze.

    5. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline

The iconic pop star married her backup dancer Kevin Federline in June 2004, less than three months after they met.

The pair welcomed two sons and had nothing short of a toxic relationship, which was chronicled in Spears’ first reality show Britney & Kevin: Chaotic. Need we say more?

They divorced in 2007 and Spears hasn’t remarried since.

    6. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

The reality star got engaged to the NBA player in May 2011 after they had been dating since October 2010.

They married in August and did a two-part TV special on E! in October – the same month Kardashian filed for divorce, after 72 days of marriage.

  • Epilepsy cases on the rise in Upper West

Epilepsy cases in Upper West have more than doubled in the last two years and the prevailing trend indicates that the figure is likely to further rise in 2018.

Reports of recorded cases of epilepsy in the Wa Municipality were 27 in 2016 but jumped to 60 in 2017, a situation the Municipal Health Directorate says could grow higher when officials finish compiling the data for the 2018 annual review reports.

“These figures are only cases within the Wa municipality with the exclusion of the [Upper West] Regional Hospital because it is the referral center,” Sylvester Basagnia, the Wa Municipal Mental Health Officer said.

Though there are many unreported cases, he said his outfit has already recorded several new cases for the first seven months of 2018 but the projected the number was likely to shoot up by the time the data was completely gathered.

Health officials define epilepsy as a neurological disorder marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness, or convulsions, associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain.

Read: Medicines worth $4m distributed to mental health units in the north

The officials attributed the causes to brain tumor, chemical imbalance such as low blood sugar or sodium, head injuries, certain toxic chemicals or drugs of abuse, alcohol withdrawal, stroke, including hemorrhage and birth injuries.

Mr Sylvester said epilepsy was not a mental health or a psychiatric condition but a neurological disorder that affects the brain.

“It is a serious condition that results in various types of seizures including conditions such as stroke, brain tumor, head injury, central nervous system infections, or genetics,” he said.

In past years, issues of epilepsy have always been hidden as a result of few mental health officers in the field, Mr Sylvester said, adding that many health officials have been trained and posted to man various centres to address the problem.

He appealed to stakeholders to help the Region acquire a brain scan and a machine that can diagnose the disorder to avoid the dangers of transporting patients from the capital, Wa, to far away Tamale for the brain scan.

  • Zimbabwe election: Robert Mugabe gives surprise speech on eve of poll

Zimbabwe‘s ex-president Robert Mugabe has given a surprise press conference on the eve of the nation’s elections.

Mr Mugabe said he would not support his successor in the Zanu-PF party, Emmerson Mnangagwa, after being forced from office by the “party I founded”.

“I cannot vote for those who tormented me,” he said. “I will make my choice among the other 22 [candidates].”

Zimbabweans go to the polls on Monday in the first vote since Mr Mugabe was ousted in November.

Speaking from his home in the capital, Harare, on Sunday, the former president again said he had been “sacked” as part of a military coup and that he left office in order to “avoid conflict”.

He said that he now wished the leader of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), Nelson Chamisa, well in Monday’s vote.

“He seems to be doing well, and if he is elected I wish him well,” he said.

When asked by the BBC’s Fergal Keane if he would like to see Mr Chamisa gain power in Zimbabwe, Mr Mugabe, 94, indicated that he was the only viable candidate.

Mr Mugabe said: “I hope the choice of voting tomorrow will throw, thrust away the military government and bring us back to constitutionality.

“Let tomorrow be the voice of the people to say never again shall we experience a period where the army is used to thrust one person into power.”

Mr Mugabe also denied that, as president, he had planned to hand the leadership to his wife, Grace, saying it was “utter nonsense”, and suggested that ex-defence minister Sydney Sekeramayi should have taken over.

Mr Mugabe added that, since he was forced from office last year, “the people of Zimbabwe have not been free”.

More than five million Zimbabweans are preparing to go to the polls for what will be the first time in 38 years without Mr Mugabe in power.

The cash-strapped and impoverished country, which has known decades of repressive rule, faces severe challenges.

An opinion poll last week saw the MDC close the gap with Zanu-PF from 11 percentage points to three, with 20% of voters undecided. It was only the second of two opinion polls.

  • Anas to release video on illegal child beggars in August

Award-winning investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas will in the month of August release a 10-minute video on illegal child beggars on the streets of Ghana.

The project in collaboration with OAfrica under the #KidsOurFuture campaign, is aimed at highlighting child trafficking in the alms begging business and some of the abuses such children are subjected to.

“Further studies and investigations conducted by “Tiger Eye PI” revealed the phenomenon of child begging is more than just children asking for money on the streets.

“It was observed that children were trafficked by adults and used as business. Children are denied of their right to education, good health, nutrition, protection and choices and do dangerous work for the benefit of the traffickers, who buy and sell them across borders with impunity,” a release on the project said.

It added: “This observation culminated in the ten-minute film “Chained by Begging” with an original score by Stonebwoy to be shown on all major TV networks across the country in the month of August.”

  • UK to legalise medicinal cannabis products

Specialist doctors in the UK will be able to legally prescribe cannabis-derived medicinal products by autumn, the home secretary has announced.

Those that meet safety and quality standards are to be made legal for patients with an “exceptional clinical need”, Sajid Javid said.

As it is a devolved matter, it will require legislative change before it is enforced in Northern Ireland.

Legalisation follows high-profile cases involving severely epileptic children.

Many had previously been denied access to cannabis oil.

Others forms of cannabis will remain illegal.

    ‘Exceptional circumstances’

Mr Javid’s decision was made after the chief medical officer for England, Prof Dame Sally Davies, and the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs said patients with certain medical conditions should be given access to the treatments.

Their advice was part of a review into medicinal cannabis launched by the home secretary following an outcry over Billy Caldwell and Alfie Dingley being denied access to cannabis oil.

    Charlotte and Billy Caldwell

The Home Office recently granted them licences to access the treatments.

Mr Javid said: “Recent cases involving sick children made it clear to me that our position on cannabis-related medicinal products was not satisfactory.

“This will help patients with an exceptional clinical need but is in no way a first step to the legalisation of cannabis for recreational use.”

Billy Caldwell’s mother, Charlotte, said Mr Javid’s announcement had been made on her son’s 13th birthday.

“For the first time in months I’m almost lost for words, other than ‘thank you Sajid Javid’,” she said.

“But, crucially, my little boy Billy can now live a normal life with his mummy because of the simple ability to now administer a couple of drops a day of a long-maligned but entirely effective natural medication.”

Stormont with a sign saying 'no entry'

A Department of Health spokesperson said: “The rescheduling of cannabis-derived medicinal products is a devolved matter and requires legislative change.

“The Department of Health notes the advice provided by experts during the two-part review commissioned by the Home Secretary.

“Consideration will be given to rescheduling cannabis-derived medicinal products in Northern Ireland in line with the rest of the UK

“In the interim, clinicians may still apply to the Home Office Expert Panel should they wish to use a cannabis-based medicine in the treatment of a patient.”

Cannabis is classed as a Schedule 1 drug, meaning it is judged to have no therapeutic value but can be used for the purposes of research with a Home Office licence.

The decision by the Home Office will put certain cannabis-derived products into Schedule 2 – those that have a potential medical use – and will place them in the same category as cocaine and heroin, among other drugs.

The Department for Health and Social Care and the Medicines and Health products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) will now develop a clear definition of what constitutes a cannabis-derived medicinal product so they can be rescheduled and prescribed, the Home Office said.

In the meantime, clinicians will still be able to apply to an independent expert panel on behalf of patients wishing to access these products.

The home secretary said licence fees for applications made to the panel will be waived, and those already granted will not be charged.

    ‘Safer medicines’

The home secretary’s decision was welcomed by campaigners and health experts.

Donna Kinnair, from the Royal College of Nursing, said the decision was “very welcome”.

Dr Tom Freeman, senior academic fellow at King’s College London, said Mr Javid’s decision would have a “substantial impact on research by facilitating the development of safer and more effective medicines”.

Former justice minister Sir Mike Penning, who was among those appealing for Alfie Dingley to be given a special licence for medicinal cannabis, welcomed the announcement but said there were still unanswered questions about which treatments would be rescheduled.

“Any move to restrict medical cannabis in the UK to a very narrow range of derived products, each requiring full pharmaceutical trials, thereby blocking out the many products available overseas, will lead to great disappointment and be a missed opportunity.”

  • World Cup 2022: Qatar bid team accused of secret campaign to sabotage rivals

The Qatar 2022 World Cup bid team ran a secret campaign in 2010 to sabotage competing host bids, according to a report published by the Sunday Times.

The paper claims to have seen leaked documents that show the Qatari bid team employed a US PR firm and ex-CIA agents to smear its rivals – mainly the United States and Australia.

The alleged aim was to create propaganda to give the impression that a World Cup would not be supported domestically, but such a campaign would have broken Fifa’s bidding rules.

Qatar beat rival bids from the United States, Australia, South Korea and Japan to the right to host the 2022 World Cup.

Fifa’s rules say World Cup bidders should not make “any written or oral statements of any kind, whether adverse or otherwise, about the bids or candidatures of any other member association”.

The Qatar bid team has been previously accused of corruption but was cleared following a two-year Fifa inquiry.

The documents seen by the Sunday Times – which the paper says were leaked by a whistleblower who worked on the 2022 bid team – were apparently unavailable during the Fifa inquiry.

The Qatar bid team is alleged to have employed the New York office of communications company Brown Lloyd Jones, which is now BLJ Worldwide, along with a team of former intelligence officers to run a campaign aimed at undermining one of Fifa’s key criteria in the bidding process – that each bid should have strong backing at home.

Nether the Qatar 2022 World Cup bid team or BLJ Worldwide responded to requests for comment from The Sunday Times.

A Fifa statement said “a thorough investigation was conducted by Michael Garcia and his conclusions are available in the report”, referring to the completed two-year inquiry.

Qatar won the right to stage the tournament in December 2010. Russia was awarded the 2018 World Cup at the same time, beating three other bids including England.

  • Egypt court sentences 75 to death over 2013 pro-Morsi protests

n Egyptian court has sentenced 75 people to death for their role in the violence that erupted after President Mohammed Morsi’s removal in 2013.

The group, including leaders of the banned Muslim Brotherhood, are part of a mass trial of more than 700 people.

Rights group Amnesty International has called the trial “grossly unfair” and a violation of Egypt’s constitution.

Their cases will now be referred to the Grand Mufti, who must be consulted whenever the death sentence is applied.

But while Egyptian law requires the opinion of the Grand Mufti, the country’s highest Islamic legal authority, it is non-binding – although rarely ignored.

The August 2013 clashes took place a month after the democratically-elected Mr Morsi was ousted, with hundreds of demonstrators and dozens of security personnel killed after the latter moved in to break up two sit-in protests.

Among those arrested that day was the award-winning photojournalist, Mahmoud Abou Zeid, better known as Shawkan.

He was detained while taking pictures of the dispersal of a protest. He has been held in prison ever since and faces a series charges.

A decision in his case was postponed by the judges on Saturday.

In the months that followed the clashes, there was a crackdown on the former president’s supporters, and on the Muslim Brotherhood group to which he belongs, which Egypt later declared a “terrorist organisation”.

In a statement, Amnesty International pointed out that, while many thousands of people have been arrested since “Egyptian authorities have never questioned or prosecuted any of the security force personnel” who were involved in the clashes.
