  • Ibrah One exposes lies behind NAM1s prosecution in Dubai on February 2

Young Ghanaian millionaire, Ibrahim Dauda, popularly known as Ibrah One, has rubbished reports claiming Menzgold CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah, was going to be on trial in Dubai before being sent to Ghana.

In a series of social media posts, Ibrah One, known for his many attacks on NAM1, indicated that there were some untruths in the case involving the embattled CEO of Menzgold.

According to him, the report that NAM 1 was going to be on trial in Dubai on February 2, 2019, was not true because no court in UAE country opens on weekends since it falls on a Saturday.

Ibrah One went on to prove with photos indicating that courts in Dubai were even closed on Fridays; probably due to the fact that they were a Muslim nation and held Jumu’ah on that day.

Ibrah One has been on the neck of NAM 1 for a very long time. The millionaire noted some months back that the private jet purported ti be owned by NAM 1 was rented.

He also exposed the gold trading hub Menzgold, by indicating that investors were not going to get back their funds because NAM 1 had used it to sign actors and musicians.

NAM 1 however hit back at Ibrah One by posting documents to the effect that he had bought and paid for the private jet.

In recent times, NAM1 and his gold trading firm, Menzgold Ghana Limited, have taken center stage and have been in many discussions following an order from Security and Exchanges Commission to halt its operations.

Investors have had their monies locked up following the order and have explored a number of alternatives with the hopes of getting their monies back.

Following many unrests, security agencies in the country, issued a warrant for NAM1’s arrest and sent same notice to Interpol.

It however came to light that NAM 1 had already been arrested in Dubai in December 2018 following a business deal gone bad and was set to face trial in court.

A delegation was however sent from the government to have NAM1 brought back to Ghana to face trial for many charges brought against him including defrauding y false pretenses.

The UAE nation however refused to release the Menzgold CEO who also doubles as the CEO of Zylofon Media.

According to the Emirati authorities, NAM1 would only be released to come back home after he has faced trial in Dubai for a botched gold deal.

The issue has however been tainted with politics as the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), have thrown jabs at each over the locked up investments.

  • Dont worsen the plight of Ghanaians with exorbitant increment TUC to PURC

The Ghana Trade Union Congress (GTUC) on Thursday appealed to the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) to consider the plight of the ordinary citizen as it embarked on the process for the review of tariffs.

GTUC Deputy Secretary General, Joshua Ansah, expressed concern that the intended review upward is going to be a big burden on the workers of this country.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Ansah said the salary of workers was increased by 10 per cent last year with effective date January 2019, so any astronomic adjustment upwards of tariff would erode the marginal salary increment.

“Any exorbitant increment will worsen the situation of employees in this country on the other hand we are not saying they should not increase but considering the plight also of the utility providers, we want marginal increment,” Mr. Ansah said.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has proposed 23 Ghana pesewas upward tariff adjustment per kilowatt hour (23p/KWh); and Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) 4.897 Ghana pesewas per kilowatt hour (4.897p/KWh).

Others are Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) which is demanding 43 Ghana pesewas per kilowatt hour (43p/KWh); and Enclave Power Company Limited (EPC) proposing 26 Ghana pesewas per kilowatt hour (26p/KWh) for the 2019 Utility Tariff Review.

Meanwhile, the PURC has assured the public that it would strike a fair balance between utility service providers and utility consumers in determining new utility tariffs.

The Chairman of the PURC Technical Committee, Ishmael Agyekumhene, said this at a public hearing in respect of the 2019 Major Tariff Review for Electricity and Water organised by the Commission in Accra.

He said the Commission would consider a number of factors before agreeing to an upward tariff adjustment or otherwise.

Mr. Agyekumhene, who presided over the meeting, said the PURC will go into caucus meeting to consider the tariff adjustment proposals made by the utility service providers and chart the way forward.

He urged the public to collaborate with the PURC and utility service providers to clamp down on illegal power connection and waste in the system noting that the energy sector could have either positive or negative impact on the Ghanaian economy depending on how we manage it.

Representatives from the ECG, GWCL, NEDCo, GRIDCo and EPC made various presentations to justify their proposed tariff adjustment in order to reflect their operational costs.

  • Former workers of Consolidated Bank given Provident Fund, Pension contribution

Former workers of the five consolidated banks, Unibank, Beige, Royal, Construction and Sovereign banks may be heaving a sigh of relief as Citi Business News has gathered the workers can now access their tier 3 pension contributions, and Provident Funds.

The Provident Fund is money the workers voluntarily contributed personally to a scheme which was managed by privately owned insurance companies.

“We have been looking forward to this because my salary was not enough and most of us have commitments and loans we took from other institutions that we need to pay,” one of the workers who has resigned from the Consolidated Bank and wants to remain anonymous told Citi Business News in an interview.

The about 3,000 workers of the five consolidated banks had their salaries slashed and their allowances, including rent and clothing also scrapped by managers of the bank that is currently handling their former companies.

The workers have been going through a recruitment process for the past five months.

Earlier, some workers of Beige were sacked. The rest, together with the workers of Unibank, Royal, Construction and Sovereign banks have written some tests and are scheduled to go through an interview process as part of the recruitment exercise.

The ongoing recruitment process includenegotiation of new salaries and allowances.

However, redemption forms have been sent to the workers to claim their tier 3 contributions

According to the redemption procedure, a withdrawal of all or part of accrued benefit before the tax exemption period of ten 10 years may be subject to a 15 percent withholding tax payable to the Ghana Revenue Authority.

It is however unclear when the workers will receive their severance packages.

  • Mobile Network Operators challenge NCA fine

The Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in the country which were collectively fined a total of GH¢34,065,000 by the National Communications Authority (NCA) for various infractions in their licence conditions have refused to pay the penalty.
Subsequently, they have challenged the basis of the fine and presented their petition to the Electronic Communications Tribunal for redress.

Sources within the sector told the Daily Graphic that the telecom companies were not clear with the course of the action taken by the NCA and, therefore, were determined to get a better understanding and a clearer picture of the action before taking the next line of action.

It said, much as they, as telcos, believed there might have been some disruptions in service to consumers, there were equally a number of factors that caused those disruptions and the “NCA is aware of them”.

They mentioned some of the disruptions to be fibre cuts by some road contractors all over the country and cable theft among other things and noted that “we do not intend under any circumstances to disrupt services to our customers”.

“We cherish our customers and even at a time when there is intense competition between us, we do not have to toy with our customers and lose them”, the source added.

    NCA sources

Meanwhile, another source from the industry regulator has admitted to having received the individual petitions from the affected telcos on the fines.

It said the NCA had compiled all the concerns and was almost ready to issue a response through the media by close of the week or early next week.

It declined further comments on the matter except to admit that it was also aware of the petition to the Electronic Communications Tribunal and would respond appropriately when called to defend its action.

    The fines

Late last year, the NCA sanctioned all four MNOs for poor services to consumers.

The four network operators sanctioned for their non-compliance with various Quality of Service (QoS) requirements were AirtelTigo, Glo, MTN and Vodafone.

A statement issued by the NCA said the four had been fined a total of GH¢34,065,000.

AirtelTigo is to pay GH¢11,635,000, Glo, GH¢4,460,000, MTN GH¢9,080,000 and Vodafone GH¢8,890,000.

The NCA regularly undertakes QoS monitoring to determine MNOs compliance with their licence conditions and to ensure that consumers receive the quality service they pay for.

According to the NCA, in the first quarter of 2018, the authority undertook QoS monitoring of all MNOs in the Greater Accra, Eastern, Western and Northern regions and two districts in the Ashanti Region in the phase one of a nationwide monitoring exercise.

The monitoring enabled the authority to determine the MNOs which were unable to meet their Licence Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in some district capitals with regards to QoS; Obligations for Coverage, Data, Voice and Speech Quality.

It said as had been the practice, the NCA subsequently held reconciliation meetings with all four mobile network operators and they were given three months ending, August 21, 2018 to cure the infractions detected.

The NCA said at the end of the deadline, it embarked on a follow up monitoring to ascertain if the QoS infractions recorded had been resolved. However, the follow up monitoring revealed that though the key performance indicators (KPIs) in some district capitals had improved, the MNOs were not able to meet the KPI thresholds as per their licences. The NCA as a result sanctioned the MNOs.

  • Lacuna exists in fiscal responsibility act Prof. Peter Quartey

Economist, Prof. Peter Quartey believes although President Akufo-Addo has passed the Fiscal Responsibility Act, to anchor fiscal discipline and ensure prudence in the management of the economy as the Act establishes both the Fiscal Council and Financial Stability Council, there is a lacuna which allows the finance minister to overspend.

The former Head of Economics Department at the University of Ghana, states there is a lacuna in the law allowing Ken Ofori-Atta to overspend beyond the 5 percent of GDP threshold in an election year.

He stated since the reports are made quarterly, in an election year, when a report comes out in September, it leaves room from October to December for the politicians to massage figures before offering the final report for the year in December by which the purpose of reining in expenditure could be defeated for the quest of power.

The Fiscal Council and Financial Stability Council is expected to monitor the performance of the government budget with regards to compliance with fiscal rules and targets including a budget deficit of not more than five percent of GDP (as provided by law), a positive primary balance (as provided by law) and a debt to GDP ratio of not more than 65 percent of GDP while tying the hands of politicians in ensuring prudent macroeconomic management.

The two councils Vice President Dr. Bawumia reckons will help, “….safeguard the financial system, deepen financial intermediation, widen financial inclusion, and position Ghana as a West Africa Financial hub and economy with greater policy credibility.”

  • Wassa Fiase Manhene exposes Reg. House of Chiefs, Police Capo and Chieftaincy Minister

Paramount Chief of Wassa Fiase Traditional Council, of the Western region, Odeneho Akrofa Krukokor II, Wassa Fiase Manhene, has exposed those he claimed are allegedly behind his sabotage in his quest to be acknowledged and accepted as the substantive Chief of the Wassa Fiase area.

According to him, some of the key hands working against his chieftain include the Chieftaincy Minister, Hon. Kofi Dzamesi, some individuals and other chiefs at the Western Regional House of Chiefs, and the Regional Police Command.

Addressing the media in a durbar at Benso in the Western Region on Thursday, Odeneho Akrofa Krukokor II, explained that and backed the claims that regional House of Chiefs have court support of the minister and have also used the police under the guise of maintaining order to restrict him from being duly accepted as the Chief.

“I would like to at this stage appeal to the President Nana Akufo-Addo to call the Chieftaincy Minister, Kofi Dzamesi to order and do the right thing since the minister is very much aware of these facts I have submitted,” Odeneho Akrofa Krukokor II stated.

He gave a historical background establishing the that there was a minor chieftaincy dispute that hit his jurisdiction which led to the cancellation of his name as a member of the National House of Chiefs.

Following this development, he said the issue led to litigation in court where the Supreme Court ruled in his favour as the legitimate head of the Fiase Traditional Area but the authorities including the Minister, the police and the chiefs who should know the laws better are rather fighting him.

Odeneho Akrofa Krukoko II mentioned that the happenings have retarded and robbed the area of a lot of development projects.

On his part, the Secretary for the Wassa Fiase area, Prince Brukuroh, gave a strong indication for a looming danger amid non-stop violence in the town if the status quo should remain the same.

“The government under the ruling NPP and Nana Akufo-Addo should not wait for violence before they dispatch troops to come and plunge us into curfew. The things that Odeneho has said so far are the things that make peace fragile and should be addressed as a matter of urgency,” the youth secretary stated.

  • Police speak to Philip for not wearing seatbelt

Norfolk Police say they have spoken to the Duke of Edinburgh after he was pictured driving without a seatbelt, 48 hours after being involved in a crash near Sandringham in Norfolk.

A spokeswoman said “suitable words of advice have been given to the driver”.

Meanwhile, Emma Fairweather, who broke her wrist in the crash, has told the Mirror the duke has not apologised.

A Palace spokesman said contact had been made with the occupants of the car to exchange “well-wishes”.

The crash in Sandringham, in which Prince Philip’s Land Rover landed on its side, happened on Thursday,

Two days later, pictures in the Daily Mail and The Sun appeared to show the duke, 97, driving alone on the Sandringham estate in a new Land Rover without a seatbelt.

A spokeswoman for the Norfolk Constabulary said the force was aware of the photographs and had spoken to the driver.

“This is in line with our standard response when being made aware of such images showing this type of offence,” she said.

Ms Fairweather told the Sunday Mirror that “I’m lucky to be alive and he hasn’t even said sorry”.

“It has been such a traumatic and painful time and I would have expected more of the Royal Family,” she added.

She said she had not heard from the royal household but had got a call from a police family liaison officer.

“The message he passed on didn’t even make sense. He said, ‘The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh would like to be remembered to you,’” she said.

“That’s not an apology or even a well-wish.”

  • Trump offers ‘compromise’ to end government shutdown

US President Donald Trump has set out new plans on his Mexican wall project to try to end a partial government shutdown lasting more than four weeks.

One of his “compromises” was on so-called Dreamers – who entered the US illegally when young. He still wants $5.7bn (£4.5bn) to fund the wall.

Democrats have refused to fund it and ahead of the speech had already rejected the expected concessions.

The shutdown, the longest in history, has affected 800,000 federal workers.

What was in Mr Trump’s address?

The president started by saying the US had a proud history of welcoming migrants, but that the system had been “badly broken for a very long time”.

He said he was “here to break the logjam and provide Congress with a path forward to end the government shutdown”.

He again spelled out his reasons for building the wall and stressed it was not a continuous structure, just one of steel barriers in high-priority areas. But the demand for $5.7bn to fund it remains.

The two new ideas concerned the Dreamers and Temporary Protection Status (TPS) holders.

There are some 700,000 Dreamers, who were young when they entered the US with their parents illegally,

The Dreamers are currently protected from deportation under a programme that allows them to work but not get citizenship. It is a programme Mr Trump has been trying to rescind.

But he said he would extend protection for Dreamers for another three years, allowing them continued access to work permits.

He said he would also extend the visas for TPS holders for three years. More than 300,000 people from countries affected by war or disasters are allowed to work in the US under TPS, another system Mr Trump has opposed.

There were other proposals, including $800m in urgent humanitarian assistance, 2,750 more border agents and security officials and 75 new immigration judge teams. Certainly the latter conforms largely with Democrat suggestions.

The president said his proposals were “reasonable with lots of compromise” and would “build trust and goodwill”.

Police in the Volta Region say they have identified a weapon manufacturing base at Alavanyo but are unable to enter the place due to the level of defences that have been put up by the people behind it.

According to the police, Alavanyo which has been in a protracted land conflict with neighbouring Nkonya, has become a leader in weapon manufacturing in Ghana and even in the West African region.

“When it comes to the manufacture of gun, Alavanyo is leading in the country and even in West Africa… As we speak, there are people who go there on duty to guard the manufacturing base,” Volta Regional Police Commander, Doku revealed.

Speaking to journalists on the back of a shootout Monday between the youth of Alavanyo Dzogbedze and security officials that led to the death of four people, DCOP Francis Doku said weapons are not only imported into the area but also manufactured there.

“As weapons are being imported into Alavanayo, they themselves are manufacturing weapons,” he said noting they have currently identified a place where over 70 AK47 assault rifles are being stashed.

DCOP Doku said: “There is a location that we have identified where over 70 AK47 are being kept but if the chief is to come here today, he will tell you there is not even a single AK47 in his area”

They will put all manner of defences because they have an interest in it. So if we begin to pick them one by one are we not reducing the numbers?”

He advised the media to treat what the people say about arms and ammunition with the contempt it deserves, and rather believe take what the Police say.

  • NAM 1 used his occultic powers to deceive people to save at Menzgold – Prophet

The General Overseer of the Live Assembly Worship Centre Christian Kwabena Andrews popularly known as Osofo Kyere Abosom, is claiming that embattled CEO of gold dealership company Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah aka NAM 1 used his occultic powers to lure his customers to save with the company.

The man of God told Prince Kwesi Dadzie aka Mr Handsome on GH Entertainment on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that, the CEO as part his grand scheme to defraud his customers went to his evil source to seek for more powers to lure more people to save with him.

According to him, any individual who visited the company was hypnotised by the evil forces at his branches and were forced to invest their money at the troubled company.

The man of God in 2018 prophesied that, the Menzgold and Zylofon business was evil and would not last and advised the people he had signed to withdraw from his label.

Reacting to the challenges confronting Menzgold and NAM 1 today [Saturday], the prophet said the evil days of NAM 1 are over and he will not survive the challenges.

He said, the name Zylofon has an evil link and any individual who is signed or works with the company is doomed.

But was quick to add that, all persons working with him or have received monies from him should look out for strong men of God to break that evil covenant because they will forever remain slaves should they refuse to do so.

The customers who are also demanding for their investments he said should forget it because they will never receive a penny unless government of Ghana decides to pay them on humanitarian grounds.

He lamented the insults he received when the prophecy came in 2018 but said he thanks God that the prophecy and evil manipulations of NAM 1 have been exposed.

The prophet further revealed two persons (man and wife) who confided in him about their savings at Menzgold have died as a result of the shock they suffered after the collapse of Menzgold.

NAM 1 is currently standing trial for misdemeanor in the United Arab Emirates a statement jointly signed by the police and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has said.

According to the statement, NAM 1 would be made available to authorities in Ghana pending the outcome of the case in Dubai.

The statement was jointly signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) David Eklu, the Director-General of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service and Mr Abu Issah, acting Head of the Legal and Prosecution outfit of EOCO, and copied to the Ghana News Agency.

“Mr Mensah was cooperating with EOCO as part of its investigations into a possible breach of Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institution Act, 2016, (Act 930) as reported to it by the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

“Upon the breakdown of cooperation, EOCO employed other strategies, including the use of associates and collaborating with other security agencies to make him available for further investigations”.

The government has said three people died during the unrest that broke out on Monday after President Emmerson Mnangagwa raised fuel prices by 150 percent. Lawyers and activists say the toll was much higher and that security forces used violence and carried out mass arrests to quell the unrest.

Among the around 400 people charged by magistrates on Friday was pastor Evan Mawarire, a rights activist who rose to prominence as a critic of Robert Mugabe’s rule and led a national protest in 2016.

He will stand trial on more serious charges of subverting the government after encouraging Zimbabweans via social media to heed a strike call from unions. His lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa said she would lodge a High Court appeal for him to be released on bail. Mawarire faces up to 20 years in jail if convicted.

The internet was blacked out for much of the day, until authorities began gradually lifting a ban that had disabled some electronic communications in the country since Tuesday.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appealed for restraint by the Zimbabwe authorities.

“We are worried with the deterioration of the situation caused by the potential use of excessive violence in confronting the demonstrations in Zimbabwe,” Guterres told a news conference in New York on Friday.

In Geneva, The U.N. human rights office called on the government to halt the crackdown and denounced allegations of “generalized intimidation and harassment” of protesters.

As life returned to a semblance of normality in Harare, civilians ventured outside to stock up on food and other supplies while police continued to patrol the streets.

Jacob Mafume, spokesman for the main Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) opposition party, said he feared the web blackout was a prelude to more violence. “The world must quickly step in to remove this blanket of darkness that has been put on the country,” he told Reuters earlier in the day.

    Echoes of Mugabe?

Authorities have yet to respond to the allegations of a crackdown, but many Zimbabweans believe Mnangagwa – a former Mugabe ally – is falling back on his predecessor’s tactics by using intimidation to crush dissent.

The president has also failed to make good on pre-election pledges to kick-start the ailing economy – beset by high inflation and a currency shortage, and the trigger for this week’s protests.

Referring to allegations of night-time door-to-door searches against demonstrators and beatings by police, U.N. human rights spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani said hospital medics had treated more than 60 people for gunshot wounds.

“This is not way to react to the expression of economic grievances by the population,” she said.

One Harare schoolteacher waiting in a fuel station queue said filling his petrol tank twice a month would now cost him $528 rather than $230.

“I will have to probably cut on some other things or simply decide not to drive to work,” Gilbert Kepekepe told Reuters.

While long queues formed at petrol stations and outside shops, the internet shutdown meant that Harare banks were providing only partial services and no cash machines were working, a Reuters witness said.

Leading mobile operator Econet Wireless said late on Friday it had received an instruction from the government to reopen internet access, except for some social media applications.

It appears the 16 Premier League clubs are keen to offer the oxygen required to revive Ghana football since it was collapsed following an investigative piece by controversial journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas on June 6, 2018.

Kotoko are in pole position to qualify to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in 15-years after a hard-fought 3-2 win in Cameroon last week.

  • GFA Normalisation Committee engages PWC for audit

Following the inauguration of the Normalization Committee on September 13, 2018, FIFA indicated it would engage an accounting firm to undertake a forensic audit on the accounts of the Ghana Football Association.

FIFA has now retained PWC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) to do the forensic audit to assist the Normalization Committee (N.C) in some key accounting areas, as well as help, gather and prepare financial and other documents that PWC has requested, the N.C has retained the services of a Chief Financial Officer level consultant for two months.

The Finance Unit of the GFA has been managed by one manager and two accounting clerks with no internal audit unit for quite some time.

It has become pretty obvious to the NC that there is a need to restructure and strengthen the finance unit in due course but we are confident that the new consultant will be able to guide us appropriately and properly.

  • Partey replies critical Atletico Madrid fans with Chinese philosophy after elimination

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has replied bullish Athletico Madrid fans with a quote from Chinese philosopher Lao Tsu following the club’s elimination in the Copa del Rey.

Thomas Partey was heavily criticised by the Rojiblancos fans after their 3-3 draw with Girona on Wednesday which led to their shock elimination from the competition.

Fans of Athletico Madrid blame Partey for not being defensive enough to prevent the build up to Girona’s third goal.

However, a philosophical Partey took to social media to reply them in a subtle quote from the famous Chinese Philosopher.

He posted on Instagram, “Do not mix bad words with your bad mood. You will have many chances to change your mood, but never the opportunity to rectify the words you used. “

Atlético Madrid were booted out of the competition on the away goal ruling after the first leg ended 1-1 at the Estadio Montilivi.

Atletico made the perfect start through Nikola Kalinic’s opener.

Valery Fernandez and Cristhian Stuani struck to swing the tie Girona’s way before Angel Correa’s equaliser.

Antoine Griezmann’s goal looked to have put the hosts into the next round but Seydou Doumbia scored with two minutes left to send Girona through.

  • Female celebrities in ‘sex for favours’ – Ekow Smith Asante

Ever wondered how some of our Ghanaian female celebs fund the luxurious lifestyles they flaunt on social media?

While it is a fact that some of these celebs work hard in their chosen fields whilst others live on past glory, there are also those who rely on sugar daddies and rich boyfriends who give them lots of freebies.

Popular Ghanaian actor, Ekow Smith Asante has alleged that some of these flamboyant female celebrities in Ghana we usually see travelling to places in the name of taking vacations are sponsored by big men in the country.

As a guest on “Gee Spot” hosted by Multimedia presenter, MzGee on Joy Prime, the popular screen and stage actor didn’t disclose the names of these celebs but was confident about his allegations.

Ekow’s response came on the back of a question MzGee asked about freebies male celebs get as against female celebs.

Whilst popular actress, Vicky Zugah, another guest on the show claimed that male celebs in Ghana receive more freebies but Ekow Smith disputed that stance revealing that in Nigeria for instance, there are some chiefs and rich big guys who come to Ghana who bet on our popular female celebs with the winner taking the celeb they win, away.

“You could have chiefs, big guys say these actors… they will come here and they will bet, you want Jaguar or Range, this guy say he could give you na … I mean the highest bidder gets it and then they fly you.

“You and the girls dey norr they go to Abuja and they are done, they go to Dubai and they are back; we all dey do the work oo but we no dey see top,” the actor alleged.

Ecow indicated that most of these big men who come and take our slay queens and female celebs are married but they want to get close to them because of the popularity of the celebs.

  • Dont trust NDC’s sympathetic character Menzgold customers cautioned

Head of the One District, One Factory communication team, Mr. Kwaku Gyasi has cautioned customers of menzgold not to believe comments made by members of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] concerning their woes.

According to him customers of Menzgold should not trust the NDC as being sympathetic of their issue as they are doing this based on agenda and not a perfect will to act on bailing them out of their problem.

“NDC as a party in opposition just want to create an impression that government is the mastermind . . . that to me is just a political gimmick to score cheap political points as they always do,” he clarified.

He said the NDC has lost its credibility as the largest opposition party due to its negative statements made against government instead of suggesting good policies to enhance the good works of government.

  • Ahmed’s Murder: Prosecute Ken Agyapong for ‘aiding & abetting’ – Brogya Gyamfi

A former Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ernest Brogya Genfi, wants Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, to face prosecution for the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

Mr Hussein-Suale was a member of Tiger Eye PI, which belongs to undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

He was shot by some unknown assailants on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 while driving home.

Following an investigative piece by Anas and his team dubbed “Number 12” which exposed some corrupt officials in Ghana’s Sports industry, primarily Kwesi Nyantakyi who was President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA); Hon. Kennedy Agyapong in his defence for the victims on Anas’ video, displayed the pictures of the investigative journalist and his team members.

Mr. Agyapong disclosed the identity and residence of Ahmed Hussein-Suale inciting people to beat him up for alleged corrupt practices and an informant of the undercover investigations by Anas.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”, Brogya Genfi stated emphatically that Mr. Agyapong cannot be exonerated from the murder of the journalist.

He wondered how the Assin Central Member of Parliament could be allowed to travel outside Ghana when there is a murder case pending of which he is a person of interest in the said case.

To him, the fact that Hon. Kennedy Agyapong disclosed the identity of the journalist and directed people to his vicinity, means he “aided and abetted” in the crime.

“He cannot be excused in such matters. That saddens me about the Police Service because I heard they invited him yesterday (Thursday). After which he (Kennedy Agyapong) was allowed to travel. How can this happen in this country? This cruel thing happens and Police have a cause to believe that he has said something related to it or he has provided an opportunity for someone to know the gentleman and attack him, then he is allowed to travel. How can that happen?”

“For Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to come on live television and display the picture of the man…disclosing the residence of the person and inciting people to beat him and if the person has been shot, you would have aided and abetted in that crime,” he stressed.

  • Buzzfeed report that Trump ‘instructed Cohen to lie’ sparks outcry

Democratic politicians in the US say they will investigate allegations that President Donald Trump directed his ex-personal lawyer to lie to Congress.

A Buzzfeed News report claims Mr Trump instructed Michael Cohen to lie about plans to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.

Cohen has already admitted to lying about when the business project ended.

Mr Trump has not yet responded to the report’s allegations – but he has previously denied ever directing his former lawyer to break the law.

“The allegation that the President of the United States may have suborned perjury before our committee in an effort to curtail the investigation and cover up his business dealings with Russia is among the most serious to date,” Mr Schiff wrote on Twitter.
