The former Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, has charged members of the National Democratic Congress to be united and remain focused as the current economic crisis is not sufficient to guarantee the party a victory in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking ahead of the NDC’s Volta Regional Delegates Conference in Ho, the former MP for the Avenor-Ave constituency now Akatsi South, urged members of the NDC not to be complacent and work hard towards the elections in 2024.
He also called on members of the party to desist from wooing delegates with money and favours for votes ahead of the general elections in 2024.
“The statement is that we should not be complacent as a party. The mid-term elections in the United States have taught us that hardship alone, inflation and the economy cannot win an election…So let us not be complacent.”
“Hardship is a factor, and cost of living is a factor but it is not sufficient. We have to work hard, we have to be united and present a united front in this region and in the party,” Doe Adjaho said.
“He’s been training with us, and we’ve seen enough to offer him a short-term deal. He’ll add us good options in the front forward areas, so hopefully he can come in and be a success here,” said Maamria.
On 20 May 2016, Joe Dodoo was called up to the Ghana squad for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius; as he required FIFA to approve his change of nationality, he was unable to play, but trained with the squad.
An Accra Circuit Court has varied the bail terms of Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa, who is being held over an alleged money doubling scam.
The court presided over by Samuel Bright Acquah had admitted Nana Agradaa, also known as Evangelist Mama Pat to bail in the sum of GHC50,000 with three sureties, who are to be public servants earning not less than GHC2,000 a month.
But counsel for the founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry, Mr Paul Asibi Abariga on Thursday, prayed to the court to review his client’s bail terms because she was unable to meet them.
In view of the above, the court set out new bail terms for Nana Agradaa.
Nana Agradaa is now admitted to bail in the sum of GHC100,000 with five sureties.
The court said the sureties should be Ghanaians living within Accra and they should have their businesses in Accra.
It also directed Agradaa to be reporting to the Police every Monday and Friday. The matter has been adjourned to November 23.
Nana Agradaais facing six counts of defrauding by false pretences and charlatanic advertisements.

The Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) Mr. Samuel Aboabire has presented footballs from the GFA to 91 Division Two Clubs in the Greater Accra Region, ahead of the 2022/ 23 season.
He said the ball will reduce their equipment costs.
The 91 second-division clubs taking part in the league have been divided into 6 Zones, comprising 15 teams in each.
Addressing delegates, observers, and media at the 2022/23 Congress held at the Accra Sports Stadium last Thursday, Mr. Aboabire revealed that the new season will kick off on a mid-week date, December 14, and will follow the same format where the winners from each zone will play in the middle-league play-off to determine the representative for the Division One League (DOL) slot.
According to Mr. Aboabrie, affiliation fees will be pegged at Ghc1,000 for division 2 clubs, Ghc500 for third division sides, Ghc500 for female clubs, and Ghc350 for colts / juvenile teams.
He said officiating fees will be increased to Ghc250 for the second division, Ghc100 for the third division, and Ghc50 for the women’s teams due to the economic situation in the country.
President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has expressed gratitude to Tanink Ghana Limited and Chery for coming on board to support the operation of the Association.
He remarked that the partnership is bigger than one can think of. President Simeon-Okraku was speaking at the announcement of the one-year partnership deal between Tanink Ghana Limited, Chery and the Football Association on Thursday, November 11, 2022.
The two entities have entered into a one-year deal that would see Tanink Ghana Limited provide three brand new Chery SUV Vehicles valued at $120,000 and a cash component of $100,000 to the Ghana Football Association.
‘’We are very grateful. This kind of contribution will definitely aid us in our attempt to make our domestic football what it’s supposed to be’’ President Simeon-Okraku said.
‘’In our attempt to bring back the love for the sport which was deserted years ago, in our attempt to provide food on the table of young boys and girls who would not normally have that opportunity’’.
‘’We are providing the platform for kids from the woods of Ghana to develop their dreams to become real and earn a living. At the same time, we are developing our national teams to be competitive and position the brand Ghana into the hearts and minds of millions of people beyond the shores of Ghana’’.
‘’So Tanink Ghana, do not see this contribution as a very small one. Believe me, it is much bigger than you can think of. It is a feat that you will not regret and will be remembered by my good self as the leader of the Football Association and by everybody who works with our Football Association’’.
‘’Ghana football is appreciative; our sports will be developed because this investment is worth a life of a human being. Together, we will make our football great and strong, our Black stars and all our national teams will be competitive and will conquer’’ he added
It may be recalled that over 80 MPs on Tuesday, October 25, held a press conference to demand that Ken Ofori-Atta and Charles Adu Boahen be sacked from their respective roles. This led to a meeting with President Akufo-Addo where he requested that the Finance Minister be allowed to conclude IMF talks and present the 2023 budget statement.
“Even though the issue started with a group of 80-plus, the caucus meeting aligned with the decision of that group. So it is no longer the cause of the 80-plus group. It is the agenda for the entire caucus,” Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said to journalists in Parliament.
Meanwhile, reports rife indicate that the NPP MPs have changed their minds about allowing the Finance Minister to present the budget statement. They want a different person to do it; insisting Ghanaians have lost confidence in him.
Vote of censure
Meanwhile, the Minority has moved the motion on a vote of censure against the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta.
The Minority in its motion cited the overall mismanagement of the economy, and incompetence, among others.
Why the Change?
Kwesi Pratt Jnr speaking in a panel discussion on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ wondered why the once acclaimed competent Finance Minister is now being ‘battered’
“These same MPs said the economic hardship is due to Russia/Ukraine war and covid. You praised him (Ofori Atta) for his competence so what has changed, to the extent that you’re now demanding for his head? We need answers. Apart from that, the Minority prior to Ofori Atta’s nomination said all sorts of things against him but in the end, they approved him excellently. So we need an explanation on why they’re now moving a motion of censure against him. If they knew they were going to level the same accusations against him, they shouldn’t have approved him in the first place…what kind of Kwaku ananse story is this? If they don’t take care, a time will come they will not be taken seriously,” he stated.
According to him, the Finance Minister is not more important than the 30 million citizens suffering under the prevailing economic hardship in the country.
“The most important thing is that his policies are not working which is the more reason why the cedi has depreciated against the dollar in an unprecedented manner in the Fourth Republic. Where inflation finds itself and so on and so forth, all because of the depreciation of the cedi. So, if you look at that and still you hear people still defending the finance minister then I don’t really know the reason. Is it that the finance minister as a person is more important than the 30 million people in this country?” Mr. Asante asked.
Jonathan Asante bemoaned that the adamant action of the President is causing international investors to back out of the country leaving us in excruciating poverty.
“So, speculatively as long as you keep such a person there, the international investors do not have confidence. They want a new face, want a new direction, and see whether credibility-wise they will be able to generate some kind of restructuring that the government in his power will abide by. These are some of the basic things that the President ought to understand,” he said.
“It’s equally making people speculate, what is it that is binding the two of you, is it that you guys have been involved in some gruesome transaction? Is it also the case that the President is still owing the Finance Minister in terms of his political financing?
“See, all these speculative pieces are being put together as it were. This has come to create a damning image for your political legacy in the future. Such that the way and manner the President has conducted himself in office for the past few years. If he is not careful, he will come out as the worst ex-president that Ghana will ever have. He will be very miserable because I foresee a situation where the NPP is likely to lose this 2024 election, owing to some of these detriments on the part of the President and a finance minister without honor and principle.”
Kyereh, who plays for Freiburg is Germany has been battling illness which has kept him out for almost two weeks while Baba picked up a knock during Real Mallorca La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid in midweek.
Meanwhile, Ofori after winning the MTN 8 Championship with Orlando Pirates last week felt some discomfort.
The trio’s injury situation has left the technical team worried ahead of the announcement of the final 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
It is yet to be known if all three will be fit before the competition begins on November 20, but Addo could take a gamble with the three players who are key to the national team.
Brandon Thomas-Asante scored in West Bromwich Albion’s 2-0 win against Stoke City at The Hawthorns on Saturday. His goal helped his club complete a hat-trick of victories under new manager Carlos Corberan.
West Brom made a flying start, almost taking the lead within the first minute when John Swift’s effort was cleared off the line.
In fact, Albion dominated nearly the entire first half. On the half-hour mark, Thomas-Asante went close with a header before Matty Phillips saw one deflected beyond, with Bartley also hitting the crossbar shortly after.
Fortunately, they were eventually rewarded for their continuous pressure. A superb John Swift cross was expertly driven home by Bartley six minutes before halftime.
A Stoke defender diverted Darnell Furlong‘s cross into the air in the 51st minute, allowing Thomas-Asante to acrobatically volley past Jack Bonham and deservedly increase Albion’s advantage.
In his debut season with West Brom Albion, the 23-year-old Ghanaian attacker scored three goals in 12 appearances in the English Championship.

and if found guilty will be punished.
He also advised the clubs to register and give opportunities to young players.
The New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for the Tolon constituency, Habib Iddrisu, says he is unaware of a suit filed against him by the Ashanti Regional Deputy Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Yaw Brogya Genfi.
Brogya Genfi in a writ filed at the Supreme Court on Monday, November 7, 2022, argued that the legislator was allegedly convicted of fraud in Australia prior to the 2020 election and, therefore, was not qualified to be a legislator per Article 94(2) (c) (i) of the 1992 Constitution.
The writ, invoking the original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court to interpret and enforce the 1992 Constitution, named Mr Iddrisu, the Electoral Commission (EC)and the Attorney-General (A-G) as defendants.
But reacting to the suit against him for the first time on The Big Issue on Citi TV on Saturday, Habib Iddrisu said he has only seen comments about the suit on social media and is yet to be served.
“I have also been hearing it on social media, that is all to it. I have not been served, so whatever I hear, I have to be served to know what it is about,” Iddrisu told host Selorm Adonoo.
The Tolon MP also urged his constituents not to panic over reports of the suit against him, adding that he is innocent of all the allegations.
“But you see, my constituents shouldn’t be worried…the allegations against me, I am innocent of it.”
Article 94(2)(c) (i) of the 1992 Constitution stipulates that a person shall not be qualified to be an MP, if he has been convicted for “high crime under this Constitution or high treason or treason or for an offence involving the security of the State, fraud, dishonesty or moral turpitude.”
Mr Genfi’s case focuses on the fraud and dishonesty aspect of the above constitutional provision.
The Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana (MMAAG) has called on the government to consider effective and efficient ways of mitigating the negative impact of the E-Levy on agents.
In a research conducted by the association, they indicated that the E-Levyhas affected their operations; adding that there have been reduced transactions across mobile money platforms.
“The 73%, 80% and 69% respondents have observed reduction in total number of transactions, cash in commission and cash out commission respectively,” the association stated.
They added that “Again, despite having 27% and 17% of respondents hiring new workers and operating new shops, the net impact of the e-levy is negative on employment and expansion of business.”
The association explained that the majority of the respondents thus, the 55% and 45% respondents have laid off workers and closed existing shops following the implementation of the E-levy.
MMAAG believe these issues can be addressed through consultations with key stakeholders, particularly the agents’ association.
“Such discussions should prioritize the allocation of part of generated revenue towards the remuneration of agents, in the form of commission for playing a significant role in the e-levy mobilization process,” the association added.
The association is also calling on the government to reduce the current E-Levy rate, modify the exemptions of transactions and the daily threshold to ease the negative impact on consumers.
They stated that there is a need for further “broad effective bottom-top consultative approach to efficiently mobilize taxes that support economic growth and development by reviewing the existing e-levy.”
“Government should adopt proactive ways of engaging key stakeholders when introducing new policies,” the association added.
According to Mr Ayariga, without the support of the Majority caucus in Parliament, it is very unlikely for the minority side to garner the needed numbers to censure the embattled Finance Minister.
The Minority in Parliament currently made up of 136 MPs will need 183 votes for the vote of censure to succeed against the Finance Minister.
But the Majority caucus has categorically stated that despite their calls for the dismissal of the Finance Minister, the group will not support the Minority in their quest to censure Mr Ofori-Atta.
The position of the Majority caucus was adopted after the New Patriotic Party directed its MPs in Parliament to abstain from the vote of censure.
“By this directive the leadership of the Majority Caucus especially the Whips are to ensure that no Member of the Majority Caucus partakes in this exercise by the Minority Group in Parliament,” the NPP said in a statement.
“The vote of censure is ill-intended and aimed at derailing government’s efforts at resolving current socio-economic upheavals.”
Speaking on The Big Issue on Citi TV on Saturday, Mr Ayariga admitted that without the support of some members of the Majority side the “motion does not stand a chance of success”.
“The majority has already given an indication that they won’t vote with us so if they won’t vote with us, in my opinion, this is a motion that doesn’t stand a chance of being successful because you need two-thirds of the house so if they won’t vote then there is absolutely no chance of us winning this vote.”
The Minority in its motion for the vote of censure cited the overall mismanagement of the economy and ethical concerns, among others.
With three wins, one draw, and one defeat, the Porcupine Warriors club are fourth on the league log and just three points behind Aduana Stars who are top of the table.
The reds appear the stronger side and hope to return from the trip with a win.
When my marriage came to an end, I decided I’d never get married again. Honestly, I had never really believed in marriage in the first place but when I found myself in love and not thinking straight (a common side effect of love), I also found myself engaged.
But even before my future husband and I officially tied the knot, I told myself that if it didn’t work out, this marriage would be the one and only time.
In my mind, you get one shot at such a thing. While I don’t judge those who have multiple marriages under their belt, I wonder how they reconcile by doing it over and over again. At some point, one has to admit that maybe they’re bad at marriage and, because of that, maybe they should refrain from doing it.
Fall in love, live with someone, and have a commitment ceremony if you want. But marriage three or four times? Come on.
When I decided I’d never marry again, it was more than a decision; it was a promise to myself. I moved my engagement ring, a single pearl in a white gold setting from an antique shop in Paris, to my middle finger on my left hand. Then I threw my wedding band into the Mediterranean Sea.
I swam out as far as I could that day, until I felt nervous because I was so far from shore, looked at the quote on the inside of the ring that read: “I forget the rest,” and threw it. My estranged husband’s ring read, “We were together.”
“We were together. I forget the rest.” —Walt Whitman
But I wanted to make sure that I stuck to this promise I made. I wanted something permanent, a reminder of what a debacle my marriage was, in case I were to ever forget, as well as a daily visual to make sure that no matter how hard I fell in love the next time around, I’d never slip a ring on that finger again.
So I got a tattoo.
“There should be a place where only the things you want to happen, happen.” ―Maurice Sendak, Where the Wild Things Are
Growing up, one of my favorite books was Where the Wild Things Are. As someone who even to this day spends an obscene amount of time in my head fantasizing about other places, none of which are of this world, it was a story with which I always identified. I still identify with it and its character, Max, some 30-something years later after the first time it was read to me.
You see, Max is a wild thing. I, too, am a wild thing. So I did what any wild thing would do: I tattooed Max’s crown on the inside of my ring finger.
Photo: Author
Not only would it forever remind me of my freedom, my wildness, and the marriage I escaped to have these things, but it would also remind me of Max and what I first felt when my mother read the story to me so long ago.
It was not strange to want to sail away. I was not wrong to want to be someone else, go someplace else, and feel something else from time to time. Being wild takes a level of courage that not everyone has.
“And Max, the king of all wild things, was lonely and wanted to be where someone loved him best of all.” ―Maurice Sendak, Where the Wild Things Are.
I realize some will scoff at such a thing. Some will point out that a tattoo doesn’t prevent a ring from being slipped on a finger, a wedding band or otherwise, and physically, that’s true. But for me, it does. For me, its meaning transcends past physical capability.
Photo: Author
Once upon a time, I committed myself to a person whom I loved very much and he betrayed me. Now, my only commitment is to myself. I’m the queen of this story, the writer of these chapters, and now, like any proper heroine, I have my own crown to remind me of this always.
With coach Otto Addo expected to name Ghana’s final 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, here are 6 wingers expected to dominate the Black Stars squad for the tournament.
13 wingers were named in Ghana’s 55-man provisional squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The players include Jordan Ayew, Kamladeen Suelemana, Dauda Mohammed, Ernest Nuamah, Yaw Yeboah, Emmanuel Gyasi, Fatawu Issahaku, Osman Bukari, Ransford Yeboah, Kamal Sowah, Samuel Owusu, Christopher Antwi-Adjei, Joel Fameyeh.
The Black Stars are in Group H of the World Cup and would come up against Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
Here are 6 players expected to be in Ghana’s squad for the World Cup
Jordan Ayew
Despite not being able to find his form at both club level with Crystal Palace and in the Black Stars, Jordan Ayew’s place in the squad is assured. Having played at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the forward has enough experience needed to improve the team.
However, the question on the mind of people is how coach Otto Addo will utilize Jordan Ayew as a substitute player.
Kamaldeen Sulemana
The left nimble-footed player reportedly got injured a few days ago but is expected to be back in action for his club Stade Rennes in the French League. Kamaldeen was an integral member of Ghana’s 2021 AFCON team in Cameroon. He missed Ghana’s World Cup playoffs against Nigeria as he sustained a back injury which ruled him out of the team. Kamaldeen’s place in Ghana’s squad is not debatable only if he is fully fit to play.
Fatawu Issahaku
Since his promotion from the u-20 to the Black Stars, Issahaku has struggled to settle into the senior national team. The player has made a few appearances for the Black Stars which includes the AFCON and the Kirin tournament. He has also been able to break into the senior team of Sporting where he has gone on to play in the Champions League despite reports he was going to be demoted to the second team. Issahaku was recently impressive for the Black Stars against Nicaragua as he scored his first and only goal in the match.
Osman Bukari
The winger is the only player in the department with more goal contributions up to 14 in 24 matches. The winger got his debut goal for the Black Stars in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers against Madagascar and has won the hearts of many football fans. Bukari’s style of play is similar to Haminu Dramani who is fast on the ball and very aggressive when the team is not with the ball. Bukari’s ability to read action from the bench and come on to leave a huge impression in matches.
Ransford Yeboah-Konigsdorffer
The 21-year-old was given less time to showcase himself in his debut match against Brazil. Ransford Yeboah-Konigsdorffer was part of the players who switch nationalities from Germany to Ghana. The player is versatile as he can play on both left and right flanks, centre forward and a force 9. In his debut season at Hamburger has scored 5 goals in 16 matches.
Kamal Sowah
The Black Stars newbie earned his first call-up to the Black Stars in the provisional squad. Although many have argued that his failure to play in the qualifiers might ruin his place in the final squad, Kamal Sowah’s performance at the club level speaks for itself. The winger from Sabon Zongo scored 2 consecutive goals in 5 appearances in the Champions League. He can play as a centre forward as well as a winger. Kamal Sowah is highly expected to make it to the squad after he was convinced to play for the Black Stars.
Scores of Ghanaians who thronged the premises of the Ministry were so excited about the prospects, saying prices for the items were so cheap and affordable, compared to the open markets.
The PFJ Market has been instituted by the Ministry as a temporary measure to cushion civil servants and other government staff in the midst of the increasing cost of food items.
Prices of plantain for instance range from 10, 15 and 20 Ghana Cedis.
These are in sharp contrast to prevailing prices on the open markets which are going for 30, 40 and 50 Ghana Cedis.
According to the Ministry, “this exercise will continue in the coming weeks with the addition of other foodstuffs such as rice, plantain and yam which are expected in large quantities from Dambai and Agogo”.
Civil servants, others throng Agric Ministry to purchase food at ‘cheaper’ prices
The Socceroos are the latest country to name their 26-man squad for the global tournament commencing on November 20 after Brazil, Costa Rica, Japan and Denmark.
Goalkeeper Mathew Ryan will captain the side in Qatar, and just like player Mathew Leckie, it will be his third FIFA World Cup appearance.
This year’s tournament will be the second FIFA World Cup for Aziz Behich, Milos Degenek, Jackson Irvine, Jamie MacLaren, Aaron Mooy and Bailey Wright, with seventeen players selected in a FIFA World Cup squad for the first time.
The team features nine members of the Tokyo 2020 Olyroos squad: Nathaniel Atkinson, Keanu Baccus, Thomas Deng, Cameron Devlin, Joel King, Riley McGree, Kye Rowles, Harry Souttar and Mitchell Duke as the overage player.
After securing qualification for the fifth consecutive FIFA World Cup, sixth appearance in total, the Socceroos will be looking to progress through the group stages for the first time since 2006.
Class Media Group’s Joel Acheampong sat down with the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ms Berenice Owen-Jones, Monday, November 7, 2022, on her country’s chances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
For football, the Socceroos are in Group D alongside defending champions France, Denmark and North African country Tunisia.
Asked about the country’s chances at the mundial under gaffer Graham Arnold, Her Excellency Berenice Jones backed her country to make a statement in Qatar.
“I will say never say never, the fact that it was a really tough qualifying campaign during the qualification series for Australia to get to where they are at the moment.
“Australia are in Group D alongside Denmark, Tunisia and reigning champions France, it is going to be a tough campaign.
“But the thing about Australian sportsmen is that they have a great fighting spirit particularly when they are wearing the national colours; that’s the green and gold. They can be very inspiring at that point.
So, what I will say is “Go Socceroos,” she cheered. Australia’s best finish at the World Cup was Germany 2006 where they finished at the Round of 16 Stage losing to Italy by a goal.
Ever since the Socceroos have struggled to break that record appearing in the last three editions: South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018.
The Socceroos will open their Group D campaign at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar against defending champions France on November 22 at the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.
She is also confident that the sport is on the rise in Ghana given the country’s recent participation at the international tournament.
Cricket is set to make its debut in the 13th edition of the All-Africa Games to be hosted by Ghana in August 2023 following a successful dialogue between the International Cricket Council and the Local Organising Committee of the All-Africa Games.
With this as a setback for Ghana, Berenice Owen-Jones believes with the right investment, Ghana can compete at the highest level of the sports.
“The fact is I can really imagine cricket as a sport for the youth [and] vibrant community of young cricket players here [in Ghana]. It’s just a matter of encouraging it in the right way.
“The fact that the All-Africa Games are going to include cricket for the first time is a perfect opportunity to raise awareness about cricket.
Another interesting development is that Ghana got selected amongst the 14 emerging cricket nations to host the T-20 World Cup, and we had people approaching it with great reverence.
“So, this illustrates that the International Cricket Council sees Ghana as having the potential as a cricket-playing nation.
“We would like to do our part in developing cricket in the country, so we are working with the Ghana Cricket Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports
in encouraging the awareness of the sport in the country,” she said.
In February 2022, it was announced that cricket would make its debut in the 2023 13th edition of the All-Africa Games to be hosted here in Ghana.
The 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is the eighth and will be played in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022.
Originally, the tournament was to be held in 2020, however, in July 2020, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the tournament had been postponed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On 21 January 2022, the ICC announced all the fixtures for the tournament in Australia, the host nation and also the defending champions.
The Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Bernice Owen-Jones spoke to Joel Acheampong yesterday, Monday, 7 November 2022
Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah is confident Ghana can achieve a lot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Despite being ranked as the lowest side to qualify for the tournament Appiah believes that just like Ghana’s maiden appearance at the Mundial, the team can cause an upset at this year’s edition.
In an interview with Aljazeera, the ex-Ghana captain said that the Black Stars’ main target now is to take one match at a time and hope to beat Portugal.
“In 2006 when we went to the World Cup we were underdogs, we lost our first game 2-0 to Italy. We played against the Czech Republic and we beat them 2-0, they were number 2 in the World and we played against USA who were number 5 in the world and we beat them,” Appiah said.
“So I think we are capable of doing that, we have to take the chances match after match. We are playing Portugal, we are not thinking about Uruguay, we are just concentrating on the Portugal game then we see what will happen,” he added.
Ghana will be playing in its fourth World Cup since making its debut in 2006.
The Black Stars are in Group H of the World Cup and would come up against Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
Ghana is aiming to reach the semi-final stage of the 2022 World Cup.
The Black Stars’ last appearance at the Mundial was in 2014 when the country exited the group stage for the first time.
While the decision doesn’t bother Azumah Nelson, he is however worried about the dangerous path the WBC is treading.
Azumah reacting to the news said, “Reviewing results and awarding titles to boxers many decades after a fight is a dangerous precedent. This is happening for the first time in professional boxing and they decided to start with me. I am not worried about the decision as it doesn’t change my legacy in boxing history; neither will it change anything going forward. If this will help Jeff Fenech to sleep well at night, I am happy for him.”
Azumah added, “I rather find it a bit disturbing for the WBC as this will open the doors for many boxers to petition them over fights they disagreed with judges’ decisions many years ago. The WBC doesn’t need that pressure as this doesn’t add any value to our beloved sport. This has the proclivity to create credibility issues for the sport if not managed properly. If the WBC wants to introduce a review panel or Video Assistant Referee (VAR) as done in football, I would think they will start with the current generation who will then have the opportunity to fight again or belt returned to the right winner and to be contested for. This decision by the WBC means I went to Australia in 1992 as a challenger and not the Champion going to defend his title. This is very interesting”.
Rangers, who performed woefully in this season’s UEFA Champions League want to beef up their striking department with the acquisition of the 22-year-old.
Semenyo is currently contracted to the English Championship side where he is having a good time.
This season, the striker has been hampered with injuries but has still played a key role for the club.
Semenyo has played 15 games in the English Championship, scored three goals and provided one assist in the process.
According to him, the prices are rather likely to increase despite hopes for a reduction.
“it’s not coming down anytime soon,” he noted in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, ‘Ghana Montie’.
Mr Amoah also stated that the upsurge in the prices of petroleum products will continue if the government does not up its game in solving the cedi depreciation.
Song Min-gyu’s goal in the first half gave South Korea a 1-0 victory over Iceland in South Korea’s last friendly game at the Hwaseong Sports Complex Main Stadium on Friday and brought an end to all programs before the 2022 World Cup which will be held in Doha, Qatar.
A 3-4-3 formation was used by South Korea at first. Song Min-kyu and Kwon Chang-hoon were to the left and right of Jo Gyu-seong, who was in the front. Baek Seung-ho and Jung Woo-young collaborated in midfield, and Hong-cheol and Yoon Jong-gyu were assigned to play left and right wingback, respectively. Park Ji-soo, Kwon Kyung-won, and Kim Young-kwon made up the back three line. Kim Seung-gyu was the goalkeeper.
South Korea took the lead in the 32nd minute of the first half. Min-gyu Song scored a header after receiving a cross from Jo Kyu-seong.
South Korea will take on the Black Stars of Ghana on the 28th of November
South Korea have named Son Heung-min in their 26-man World Cup squad after the Tottenham forward declared himself fit for the tournament.
Son, 30, had been a doubt after having surgery on a fractured eye socket suffered earlier this month.
But he assured South Korea fans on Wednesday that he will play in Qatar.
Coach Paulo Bento says he is not sure when Son can start training again, ahead of their first game against Uruguay on 24 November.
“We don’t have that information yet,” said Bento.
“We are in contact with him, with the Tottenham medical department. We need to wait, we need to analyse day by day his situation.
“We have time to decide and the most important is he recovers as well as possible, he feels comfortable and then we will take the final decision.”
Son may need to wear a protective mask if he is to play any part in Qatar, where South Korea will also face Ghana and Bento’s native Portugal in Group H.
Other notable inclusions are Napoli’s Kim Min-jae and Wolves’ Hwang Hee-chan, who will be looking to help their country reach the knockout stages for the first time in 12 years.

Chelsea forward, Callum Hudson-Odoi will not be representing any country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup although he is eligible to play for both England and Ghana.
The talented youngster has according to reports held talks with officials from Ghana over the possibility of finally switching his allegiance to play for the Black Stars.
However, per close sources, the player who is currently on loan at German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen decided to snub Ghana at this point in time.
Although he knows saying yes to Ghana would have earned him a place in the Black Stars squad for the world cup, it is understood that he opted to keep his chances open with the England national team.
The forward believes he still has a good chance of becoming a key player for the Three Lions and hence wants to be open.
While he has been snubbed by England head coach Gareth Southgate for this year’s world cup, Callum Hudson-Odoi is confident that he will excel at Bayer Leverkusen this season to merit a place in the England squad for the next assignments after the world cup.
Beth Mead played the full 90 minutes against Japan in Spain on Friday
Arsenal forward Beth Mead has withdrawn from the England squad due to family circumstances.
Mead, 27, picked up her 50th cap in Friday’s 4-0 friendly win over Japan, but has now returned home and will miss Tuesday’s game against Norway.
Defender Lucy Bronze has also left the Lionesses squad as a precaution because of a minor injury.
The 31-year-old missed the Japan game and will now return to her club Barcelona.
England will hope to extend their unbeaten run to 26 games under Sarina Wiegman when they face Norway in Spain on Tuesday.
In recent days, Mead has been named BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year 2022 but has also been criticised for reported comments about diversity in the squad.

Belgium national team coach Roberto Martinez has praised Stade Rennais winger Jeremy Doku ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
The former Anderlecht player is seen to be a quality winger, but his fitness is still an issue. He has only made one Ligue 1 start so far this season.
“When I talk about him, I have to smile. He’s one of those players who can bring magic to his game. We need players who can be one-on-one. It’s true that he hasn’t played enough, but I’m I don’t agree with the fact that his body is difficult to handle,”
“In the U21, we have seen everything about him that we want to see, he is physically fit enough to play the role we want to give him,”
Jeremy Doku made his first appearance for the Belgian national team on 5 September 2020 against Denmark in the UEFA Nations League. Three days later, he scored his first goal for the Belgian national team in a 5–1 win against Iceland
Scottish giants Rangers are reportedly ready to table £5m to sign Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo from Bristol City in the January transfer window.
The forward has been named in the 55-man provisional squad for the World Cup and is expected to be named in the final squad which will be announced on Monday, November 14, 2022.
Black Stars have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
Ghana will take on Portugal in their first game on November 24 before playing South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively.
Black Stars will play Switzerland in an International friendly on November 17, before travelling to Qatar for the World Cup
In a speech read on his behalf at the 19th Ashanti Business Excellence Awards by Sewuahene, Nana Kwaku Sarkodie, the Asantehene expressed worry over the depreciation of the local currency against other foreign trading currencies.
He urged the central bank to implement measures to bring predictability to Ghana`s export and import trade, as well as other international financial transactions.
“I will like to make reference to the unsettling turbulence which has characterized Ghana’s foreign currency market, Since the beginning of the year, there has been an astronomical depreciation of the cedi against Ghana’s major foreign currencies, particularly the US Dollar.
I have no doubt that the Bank of Ghana is doing its best to remedy the situation, but the central bank is doing its best to remedy the situation, but I must urge the central bank to urgently take all the requisite steps within its competence to return the foreign market to stability, in order to bring predictability to Ghana`s export and import trade, as well as other international financial transactions”, he said.
The cedi ended last week with a marginal appreciation, but the cedi has depreciated again to GH¢14.20 to one dollar which is the average quote by the forex bureaus.
The free fall of the cedi coupled with the recent economic crisis in the country has triggered calls for immediate measures to be implemented by the government to resolve the situation.
President Akufo Addo in his address on Sunday, October 30, announced some measures the government intends to put in place to address the fall of the cedi and the current economic crisis.
He explained Managing Directors are handicapped from the word go, affecting their output. To him, even Jesus Christ will be sacked after being in office for a year over non-performance.
In his eleven (11) years at the company, Mr. Asante has seen four (4) Managing Directors come and go, a development many consider unhealthy and bad for business.
“Changing Managing Directors (MD) is not our priority and the solution to the problems we face as a company. If we constantly change MDs then we are not addressing the issue. The real issue is for us to get more buses. The problem is about buses and as a company we need to be focused and work on increasing our fleet,” he told Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show.
The project took off in 2003 with over 1,024 buses creating direct employment for 4,000 Ghanaians. The Metro Mass in its hay days raked in huge profits and eased transport needs of citizens, but presently, they company is failing to make profit. They now have only 187 operational buses and a staff strength of 2,016.
With the company charging 50 percent less of fares charged by transport companies in Ghana, pricing considered non competitive, demand for them have soared because of the current economic situation in Ghana.
With the country’s inflation rate over 40.4% and high fuel prices affecting transport fares, most Ghanaians prefer to travel in Metro Mass buses but the company is unable to meet demand as it has very few cars in their fleet.
On Friday, Stuttgart officially announced that midfielder Nikolas Nartey will miss Saturday’s game against Leverkusen due to flu. The midfielder, who was recently sidelined by a torn muscle fiber, is already back in action.
Nartey was actively engaged in team training, according to reports in Germany, working hard to join the weekend squad. VfB will play Bayer Leverkusen at home on Saturday afternoon.
The 22-year-old midfielder made 8 appearances for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga last season. He is yet to start for VfB Stuttgart this season. He has just played a total of 24 minutes in the Bundesliga.
His last game for VfB was the 5-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund. Nartey came on in the 57th minute to replace Enzo Millot.
On 29 August 2019, Nartey joined VfB Stuttgart on a four-year deal. Nartey is of Ghanaian descent through his father and his mother is Danish.
The Tema Shipyard Limited Local Union of the National Union of Seamen, Ports and Allied Workers (NUSPAW) of TUC has cautioned the host of TV3 morning, Johnny Hughes and the entire production team to desist from churning out false information to the general public regarding the ongoing restructuring and capital injection at the Tema Shipyard.
According to the Union, Jonny Hughes and his entire production crew will do TV3 and its viewing public good if they seek for the right information before going on air.
In a rejoinder sent to TV 3 and the host of its JonniesBite show, Johnny Hughes, ostensibly in response to misrepresentation of facts churned out by the broadcaster, the Union said they together with management went through all the processes outlined in the Labour Act (Act 651, 2002) and subsequent procedures before implementing the ongoing labour restructuring and capital injection exercise.
Again, it is palpably false and ill-intentioned for Jonny Hughes to create the impression that the Minister for Transport, Hon. Ofori Asiamah has shown no concern and taken any intervention to save the dying company from total collapse. Rather it was the minister who has been at the forefront of reviving the Tema Shipyard, noted the Union.
The rejoinder dated November 8, 2022, was jointly signed by Samuel Attram, Chairman, JSU of NUSPAW, Isaac Kluvia, Chairman, SSU of NUSPAW, Patrick K. Attikey, Chairman, JSU of MDU and Mustapha Alhassan, Chairman, JSU of MDU.
Minister’s Intervention
“If you care to know, the downward trend of PSC Tema Shipyard dates back to 2010 when Government of Ghana through GPHA bought the Malaysians shares from the Malaysians. The Government in 2016 handed over management of Shipyard to GHPA to look for a strategic investor to bring the Shipyard standard. Workers of Tema Shipyard have been calling for a strategic investor to revamp the ailing Shipyard since the departure of the Malaysians. Government of Ghana since 2010 have tried to satisfy the expectations of the workers but to no avail. It will interest you one more time to know that under the leadership of the Sector Minister, Hon. Asiamah, Shipyard workers were paid from government resources for a period of 11 months which, we, as workers are most grateful to him”.
They added, “The Minister, during a certain period where the yard has been without vessels for about four months, the Minister single handedly secured vessels to the Shipyard for repairs to keep the Shipyard moving. The video you showed on your program which captured the Minister assuring workers that nobody will lose his job was a video which date way back in 2017 when the Minister first visited the yard to acquaint himself with the operations of the Shipyard. You unfortunately presented the video as if it is a recent video directly linked with the ongoing restructuring exercise. It is our view that you have not been fair to the Hon. Minister.”
According to the Union, the ailing shipyard has gone through a lot of new developments and assured that Hon. Asiamah is up to the task of ensuring that the Tema Shipyard is revived, made competitive and profitable.
“Majority of workers in Tema Shipyard are in support of the restructuring exercise currently underway. We would have been very happy if you got in touch with the leadership of the Union before you did a program on this subject. Why didn’t you highlight the issues of shipyard during those trying moments when the yard was almost on its knees operating outmoded and dilapidated equipment that make the shipyard uncompetitive?”
TUC aware of Restructuring Exercise
Explaining further, the Union said the ongoing labour restructuring exercise has received the blessings of the Secretary General of the TUC, Dr. Yaw Baah.
“Dr. Yaw Baah has held meetings with the Sector Minister and the CEO regarding this very restructuring exercise. In fact, the TUC Secretary General is the one who authorized the CEO to go to the Chief Labour Officer for permission to carry out the exercise. The exercise at the moment has been and also going to be a major benefit to most of the workers. The TUC Secretary General delegated representatives to the Negotiation Team in the persons of Dr. Ebenezer Nyarko Otto, Sister Rose Kwei and Sister Miriam Atuguba who represented him during the process. This can be proved with the attendance list”, the jointed signed rejoinder in part read.
Capital Injection
If further added, “We will kike to inform you that, without capital injection as well as new modern technology, it will be extremely difficult for the shipyard to survive the competition in the industry in the sub-region. As a result of this, the current restructuring exercise cannot be over emphasized. After the exercise and with private capital injection, the yard has the potential of tripling the current labour strength”.
In the view of the Union, shipyards in countries like Cote D’Ivoire, Senegal, and Equatorial Guinea are doing very well than the Tema Shipyard because of the nature of their labour setup. It is therefore the vision of the CEO of the Tema Shipyard, Dr. Alexander Adusei and the Sector Minister, Hon. Asiamah, to operate a similar shipyard model as mentioned in the countries highlighted with the aim of tripling the current labour force when the yard is operating efficiently with private capital injection.
The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is asking suffering Ghanaians to blame the myriad of economic hardships on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and not the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.
The National Communications Officer of NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, reminded Ghanaians to lay the blame on the president and not his debilitating finance minister while reacting to calls for the removal of the minister.
He spoke on Accra 100.5 FM’s mid-day news on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
He explained that the finance minister is not the appropriate person to blame for the current economic hardships Ghanaians are experiencing under the watch of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) administration.
“The financé minister could not have taken many of the decisions in running the country’s economy without the approval of the president,” he said.
He was categorical to say that Ghana’s major problem is the president.
He argued strongly that it is the president that had a social contract with the people of Ghana and not the finance minister.
“It is the president who has breached the social contract he had with Ghanaians and not the finance minister,” he said.
He was elated noting that all the president had erroneously said about the persona of former president John Dramani Mahama have turned out to play against him in government.
“In 2016 at the time inflation was high during the NDC’s administration as compared to what is pertaining under the watch of the current president was low.
“He then had the guts to ask the then-president to resign.
“So, he should also do the honourable thing by resigning,” Mr Gyamfi stressed.
He noted that the president is in control but not in charge because he is blinded by greed and selfish interest.
The country is at a crossroads because of the failure of the president to assert his authority, he again said.
For longer than many Arsenal supporters will care to remember, the Gunners have stood excused of lacking the stomach for a fight.
Doubters have insinuated that a soft core has held the north London outfit back, with suitable heirs to the likes of Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva in short supply.
Having apparently failed to address those issues, with greater emphasis placed on guile over graft, positive
progress to the level demanded by an expectant fan base has proved difficult to come by. Ticking those boxes was, however, always going to be easier said than done.
FLYING
It may have taken a while to find the right formula, but Mikel Arteta appears to have stumbled upon it. A flying start to the 2022-23 campaign – with record books being rewritten at Emirates Stadium – carried Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table and to a price of 9/2 for title glory in football betting odds.
Such a standing is not achieved by chance, with a perfect blend of substance and style needing to be found. The Gunners have that once again, with those in the middle of the park very much leading by example.
Granit Xhaka has been a revelation, completing the most unexpected transformation from villain to hero, but it is Thomas Partey who has become a throwback figure to the heady days of domestic crowns and invincible exploits during the reign of Arsene Wenger.
Comparing him to talismanic figures from a Highbury heyday may do nobody any favours, with former Arsenal defender Lauren once saying: “We have to look forward and back Thomas Partey for who he is, he’s a different player in a different squad. We cannot compare Partey with Vieira or Gilberto Silva because it’s not the right way to look at things.”
It is, however, difficult not to get caught up in the hype at times and to allow collective minds to drift between exploits of the past and present. There are certainly plenty of similarities to be drawn between a Ghanaian enforcer and iconic World Cup winners from France and Brazil that once occupied the same engine room.
Partey has become a key component in a well-oiled Arsenal machine, to the point that keeping him fit and firing is imperative. Unfortunately, that has been an issue at times, with a commanding presence sitting out 33 games across his first two seasons in England and another five early in the current campaign.
RECHARGE
He is clearly somebody who needs to be handled with care and wrapped in cotton wool whenever Arteta gets the chance. With that in mind, a winter World Cup could be considered to have arrived at the worst possible time – with there plenty of arguments to be made against the staging of a major international tournament in the middle of any given season.
Those not heading to Qatar will savour a rare opportunity to rest and recuperate, allowing batteries to be recharged at a time when they can start to run a little flat. Arsenal would have liked to stick an all-action midfielder on that particular dock for a few weeks, but the Gunners are now hoping that their Partey will remain in full swing once he returns from international duty in the Middle East.
In a statement released today, Friday, 11 November 2022, the PNC explained the above accusation.
According to the PNC, the EC has informed their dismissed executive, Dani Baah, by “a letter,” that it is suspending “all engagements with PNC until the leadership crisis is resolved.”
The 30-year-old political party has taken issues with this and argue that it has “provided enough evidence to show that the party dismissed Dani Baah and David Apasera.”
The PNC then outlined what led to their dismissals.
Following this, “the duo took the PNC to court. The court directed them back to the Party to seek redress,” PNC’s statement continued.
Without clarification, the party said the two men “went to do their ‘own thing’,” and thereafter, “went back to the court, only to [abandon] the court process [eventually].”
Subsequently, “the Party used its appropriate constitutional provisions (article 14(1a) and (1b) in particular) to finally dismiss them,” only for them to “resurface when the Party announced a road map and started organising its internal elections.”
Finally, the People’s National Convention hoped the Electoral Commission would “immediately revert its decision taking into consideration the evidence provided” to the effect that Moses Dani Baah and David Apasera are in fact no longer members of the party and so the party’s prevailing posture regarding them is not evidence of a “leadership crisis.”
The PNC’s letter, addressed to the Chairperson of the EC, was signed by the party’s General Secretary, Janet Asana Nabla, with relevant documents attached.
Moses Dani Baah is a former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sissala East constituency on the ticket of the PNC and until the second quarter of 2022, the National Chairman of the party.
Mr David Apasera, the national leader and the 2020 flagbearer for the party was also sacked at the same time.
Thousands of lotto writers have expressed their displeasure about the National Lottery Authority‘s (NLA) directive for a new 20 per cent commission to be enforced.
The angry lotto writers are wondering how the commission could be reduced especially at this time of economic hardship.
The emergency meeting was on sensitisation and the mode of enforcement for the 20 per cent commission for Writers as directed by the NLA.
Some of the lotto writers were clad in red and holding placards that read: “We don’t want any 20% but 40% instead; Sammy Awuku must go; Leave Banker to Banker alone; 20% of what? We no go gre; Chop chop money keke, Sammy Awuku,” among others.
Some chanted “We want 40%,” and added that, “if you can’t increase the commission then nobody should reduce it.”
The Executive Secretary of the Concerned Lotto Agents Association of Ghana, Mr Tawiah Duah, reading a statement said: “It has become necessary to convene a meeting between Ghana Lotto Operators Association (GLOA), Private Lotto Operators (PLO), Concerned Lotto Agents Association of Ghana (CLAAG) and Lotto Writers because about a week ago, an announcement was made by GLOA and PLO in the media that effective that day [31 October, 2022], commissions paid to lotto writers were reduced from 30 per cent to 20 per cent. That meant a whopping 10 per cent reduction in their income levels.
“This announcement was implemented and was met by agitated writers given the already existing hardship in the economy.
“This situation has therefore resulted in several incidence of near altercations between lotto writers and their respective agents.
“This coupled with numerous outpouring of angered Writers expressing themselves through voice calls, WhatsApp and SMS messages to our offices and Executive Officers demanding for sustained nationwide demonstrations against the reduction until such a time that it will be reversed.
GLOA, PLO and CLAAG have therefore convened this important meeting to calm the nerves of Lotto Writers as CLAAG has already written to the National Lottery Authority (NLA) to register its grievances [concerning] the reduction in commissions.
“It is our hope to seek [an] amicable solution to the problem at hand, of course with the active participation of GLOA.
“If, however, by Friday, 11 November 2022, the matter has not been resolved, CLAAG will again invite its members to reconvene and decide on its next line of action.”
The Chairman of GLOA, Noah Afonope assured the lotto agents and operators to rest assured and believe that something good will come out of their meeting with the NLA.
The leader of the Minority Caucus of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, has refuted assertions that the Russia-Ukraine war and the COVID-19 pandemic are the cause of the hardships in the country.
According to Haruna Iddrisu, the only cause of Ghana’s economic challenges is Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta whose unbridled borrowing has led the country to this economic crisis.
“We are told that he did well and that we are told that we should blame COVID and Ukraine. Did we borrow to support Ukraine? You didn’t borrow to support Ukraine.
“And you want us to accept your reckless and irresponsible borrowing which has led us to where we are,” he said on the floor of Parliament while moving a vote of censure motion for the removal of Ofori-Atta.
Haruna Iddrisu, who is the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, said that the finance minister has borrowed so much that the country must restructure its debts in order to survive.
He intimated that Ghanaians should ignore the assurance given to them by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that they will not lose parts of their investment in government bonds and other investment portfolios because of the ongoing economic crisis.
“You are in a ditch. Mr. Speaker the Ghanaian economy is a ditch. Accept it or not, we may have to restructure our debt in order to sustain this economy in the next two, three years.
“I heard the president, Mr. Speaker, in the address to the nation say that there will be no haircut. There will be and there will be a barber of a sort, that barber may be ‘sika mpɛ dede’,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has referred a vote of censure motion filed by the Minority for the removal of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to an 8-member ad hoc committee
The committee is expected to make a determination on the removal of Ofori-Atta within 7 days.
The speaker announced that the committee will be chaired by Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir (K.T.) Hammond and the MP for Bolgatanga Dominic Akuritinga Ayine.
The other Members of the committee from the minority caucus include the MP for North Tongu; Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; MP for Korle Klottey, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings; and MP for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor.
The committee members from the majority caucus are MP for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah; MP for Asante-Akim Central, Michael Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi; and MP for Sekondi, Andrew Kofi Agyapa Mercer.
According to the church, most economies around the world are facing economic difficulties and Ghana is not an exception.
In a circular signed by Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, Clerk of the General Assembly, the church said it is hopeful that the Lord will step in and put an end to the difficulties facing the Ghanaian economy.
“In the light of this, the Moderator of the General Assembly, with the support of the General Assembly Council, has declared a three-day fasting and prayer from 28th to 30th November 2022 to fervently intercede for the wellbeing of Ghanaians.
“We encourage all congregations to set aside these days to pray for the nation,” the November 10 statement said.
It will be recalled that the Executive Council of the Church of Pentecost declared a three-day (all-day) fasting and prayers to intercede for the nation.
“The church in times like this has a divine responsibility to intercede for the nation, as admonished in Jeremiah 29:7 and 1 Timothy 2:1-2,” it said.
The fasting period which begins on Thursday, November 10 and ends on Sunday, November 13, 2022, is on the theme text: “Ezra 8:23.”
“This prayer and fasting sessions may be fused with any existing programme scheduled for the week. All area heads and ministers are to get involved and organise these meetings at any convenient level that will yield the maximum result,” it added.
“While I admit that this message is coming to you at such short notice, I hope that you will bear with me as we all join hands in this all-important programme.
“May the Lord pour on the church the spirit of supplication, and the burden to stand in the gap and build a hedge for the nation,” it said.

There has been an increase in food prices; housing, electricity and fuel among others pushing the inflation for the month of October 2022 to 40.4 %.

The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with a private developer for the development of about 1,500 acres of land designated in Yabiw/Shama in the Western Region.
The proposed investment is estimated at US$250million to US$300million regarding development of the designated Special Economic Zones.
Michael Oquaye Jnr., Chief Executive Officer of GFZA, was speaking at a media briefing to launch the 2023 week-long investment celebrations in Accra. This year’s celebration is on the theme ‘GFZA Championing Export-Led Industrial Growth in the Context of AFCFTA and World Trade’.
He said the investment is expected to provide world-class infrastructure: such as roads, electricity with a dedicated power plant, a sewage treatment plant, container depot, office complex and residential complex, among others. He said, in addition, the project when completed will lead to the creation of thousands of jobs and increased foreign exchange earnings for Ghana.
The CEO said out of the 217 active companies in the Free Zones enclave, 72 are wholly Ghanaian-owned companies, representing 33 percent; 74 are wholly foreign-owned companies, representing 34 percent; and 72 are joint ventures, representing 33 percent. “This is an indication that Ghanaian companies also have the potential to take advantage of free zone incentives and make a mark in the international market,” he said.
He said the Free Zones programme had been misconstrued as favouring mainly foreign investors.
Mr. Oquaye Jnr. Said, on the contrary, the programme is open to all investors, both foreign and local. “Moreover, with the opportunities that AfCFTA also offers, we are encouraging Ghanaian-owned businesses to take advantage of the 1.3 billion African market to expand their activities,” he added.
The CEO said the impact of these achievements on the economy cannot be overemphasised. He said the theme was chosen to reflect government’s focus on export-led industrialisation and the AfCFTA’s implementation.
Mr. Oquaye Jnr. said: “As a country, we are currently grappling with a balance of trade deficit and depreciation of our national currency; therefore, we must increase our exports to earn the needed foreign exchange to stabilise the cedi”.
He said export-led industrial growth is one of the most appropriate strategies to achieve economic development, and this has been the GFZA’s mandate.
Thus, the Free Zones programme’s importance in reversing the country’s balance of trade deficit and the cedi’s depreciation is vital.
He said the Authority recognises the AfCFTA’s potential for attracting market-seeking investments and encouraging local businesses to export into the African market. The AFCFTA presents Ghana with the opportunity of exporting to the rest Africa, with an estimated market size of 1.3 billion people.
He said in pursuing an export-led industrial growth strategy and the enormous opportunities AfCFTA and the world at large provide, the problems of unemployment, low export earnings, lack of value addition to our natural resources, lack of diversification in our export products, and being an insignificant player in continental and global value chains can be solved.
He said regarding their achievements, 39 new companies have been licenced and are expected to inject an estimated capital of US$230million into the economy. In addition, the estimated export earnings from the 39 companies are US$529million from an estimated production value of US$436million.
He reported that the cumulative exports from the Free Zones enterprise since the programme’s inception stood at US$27billion as of 2020.

Rapper Eno Barony and the son of Archbishop Nicolas Duncan-Williams, Daniel Duncan-Williams also known as Dee Wills, are set to take over the airwaves and streaming platforms with their new song, ‘Don’t Judge Me.’
The interesting element projecting the buzz of this collaboration stems from the fact that both musicians grew up in typical Christian homes with their fathers being pastors.
Eno Barony was born Ruth Eno Adjoa Amankwah Nyame Adom at Tema, to father, Reverend Abraham Nyame Adom and mother, Mrs Rebecca Nyame Adom while Dee Wills’ father, Nicholas Duncan-Williams, is the presiding archbishop and general overseer of the Action Chapel International Ministry, headquartered in Accra, Ghana.
The title of the song, Don’t Judge Me, makes it obvious the duo will kick back against critics who judge them for taking on the secular stands irrespective of their religious background.
Ghanaians have since taken to social media to register their assertions concerning the song which is set to be dropped next week.
Information reaching Adomonline.com indicates the visual for the song is already in line and set to drop on the same day the official audio will be released.

Last month (Oct. 3), the artist formerly known as Kanye West, sparked outrage across the country when he debuted his YZY Season 9’s new designs during Paris Fashion Week. The collection features a series of hoodies and shirts with the phrase “White Lives Matter” emblazoned on the back. The phrase itself is a hurtful message that was used in response to the “Black Lives Matter” slogan and civil rights movement which gained global attention in 2013. It has frequently been used by neo-Nazi leaders and Donald Trump supporters.
The YZY Season debut marked the beginning of a week-long rampage in which Ye spewed racist and antisemitic rhetoric on several high-profile platforms. His actions ultimately led to him losing major deals with Balenciaga, Adidas, and other companies.
Despite Ye’s cancellation, it was last reported that he was still hell-bent on selling his WLM shirts for $20. Luckily, two Black activists, Ramses Ja and Quinton Ward, are making it impossible for the disgraced rapper to sell his collection legally. Ja and Ward are the radio show hosts of Civic Cipher and, as of Oct. 28, they own the rights to the trademark.
“We hope that by having these conversations and talking about these issues, we’re empowering those allies to then take the conversations into their homes, into their circles, and talk with their racist uncles.”
Ja and Ward met nearly 15 years ago when they were building their solo careers in the radio and broadcast media industry. Civic Cipher came much later in their journey. The nationally syndicated radio show in Arizona came together in response to the summer 2020 protests against civil unrest in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder by police in Minneapolis. “It is a show that was necessary in a hip-hop space because no such programming existed. People were protesting, crying, grieving, and dealing with their frustrations,” Ja explains. “In many cities, there was nothing in that space that really felt like they were giving back to the people who were creating the culture for them to profit from. In our own city, we realized that these protestors, organizers, very powerful women here in Phoenix, Arizona, had bullhorns and signs and brilliant messages, but they didn’t have the infrastructure to reach huge, massive crowds.”
The show hosts thoughtful and educational conversations on issues about race, police brutality, and politics. While their conversations speak directly to the Black experience, they also hold these spaces so non-Black people can listen and learn from the open dialogue. “We hope that by having these conversations and talking about these issues, we’re empowering those allies to then take the conversations into their homes, into their circles, and talk with their racist uncles. We give them the tools they need to diffuse this type of content throughout their circles as well,” Ja adds.
It’s their ability to tackle and discuss such heavy material that ultimately led them to owning the trademark. The “White Lives Matter” trademark was originally owned by another person around 2015. The previous owner, who prefers to remain anonymous, bought the trademark in hopes of keeping it out of the wrong hands during a period in which a spotlight was on Black Lives Matter and civil justice. Ward notes that the phrase had become irrelevant for the past few years, but Kanye’s collection brought newfound attention to it once again.

“Kanye West woke up something that was not in the forefront of anybody’s head right now. I can’t even remember [the last] time I saw or heard it,” Ward tells Complex. “So he jumped off of a cliff and threw that back into popular culture. There’s a lot going on in the world right now.”
With more eyes on the phrase than before, the anonymous owner, who happened to be a fan of Civic Cipher, contacted the hosts. “They explained to us they do not want to be the decider of something that does not affect them directly, in the way that it might affect Q and myself and our community,” Ja said of their conversation with the previous owner. After much consideration, Civic Cipher accepted the trademark as a gift. Both acknowledge the responsibility that comes with owning such a divisive phrase. “It’s a very, very heavy responsibility, but we’re here now, trying to navigate the best way to have something good come of this,” Ward says.
“We’re trying to navigate the best way to have something good come of this.”
A trademark refers to the legal ownership of a word, phrase, symbol or design that can be used to sell a product or service. In this case Civic Cipher LLC has the exclusive rights to the use of “White Lives Matter” on any article of clothing in the United States. This means, as Ja confirms, that “anyone else who sells clothing with that term on it printed anywhere, sewn, embroidered, anything like that, is infringing on our trademark and subject to a lawsuit from our lawyer.” And according to the hosts, the only way someone could use the phrase is if they bought it for $1 billion dollars. To date, Civic Cipher’s lawyers have sent at least 25 cease and desists to individuals that have attempted to sell products using the phrase, but they acknowledge that this can become expensive. Civic Cipher is accepting donations via their website to assist with legal fees, but ultimately, their intention of owning the phrase is to keep it out of the hands of individuals in power.

The idea here was to keep a person from leaning into doing anything crazy, à la a Donald Trump-level figure. In recent weeks, we’ve seen a person with a lot of status maneuver in such a way to where this term has now become a conversation that people are having at dinner tables around the country,” Ja adds. “I feel like protecting it from an individual like that is realistic because those types of people don’t love lawsuits. If we want to nickel and dime people who are making 1,000 shirts here and there and selling them at Trump rallies, we can certainly do that. That’s a little bit more expensive, but not a fight that we are not willing to have.”
Complex spoke to Civic Cipher’s hosts about how they obtained the trademark, what they intend to do with it, and more, below:
This interview has been condensed and edited for clarity purposes.
What was the process like of getting the trademark for “White Lives Matter?”
Ramses Ja: We weren’t a part of the original acquisition of the trademark. In fact, it was originally registered in 2015 or ‘16. Basically, what happened was, yes, an individual had this trademark. They came to us after another well-known individual [Ye] started making headlines with this phrase, putting it on clothes. They felt like, “Uh oh. Something needs to be done. This might come back on me because I hold this trademark, and I don’t believe [in its messaging].” We don’t know much about the person, but that’s by design. They want to remain anonymous and a private citizen.
They felt like holding it and keeping it in a box wasn’t something they could do privately anymore because of the caliber of the individual who was wearing those shirts. So it occurred to them one day when listening to our show, that maybe we were the right folks to have a conversation with. They live in Arizona, where we live, so it felt like the alignment of the moon and stars and so forth. They reached out, and we had our conversation. They explained to us that they do not want to be the decider of something that does not affect them directly, in the way that it might affect Q and myself and our community. So they wanted to gift this. They had certain conditions with this gift that we intend to respect.
We accepted the responsibility that was asked of us, and here we are.
They said, “You guys are in a better position to decide what the highest good would be from this moment and from this instrument, this document that grants you the rights to make and produce and sell this clothing with this mark, but more importantly prevents other people from doing it. You decide what’s best for your community. I have done my part. I do believe you two, based on the temperament that you have on your show and the caliber of men I believe you to be, to be the next step in this process.” After a lot of deliberation between Q and I, because you can imagine, that’s not something anybody really wants to be associated with, we got everything in line. We accepted the responsibility that was asked of us, and here we are.
What do you feel is your responsibility now that you own the trademark to this phrase? Quinton Ward: The term in and of itself, and all terms in this age that end with “lives matter,” are just contrary to Black Lives Matter. We started saying, as we were being killed on video with impunity, “Hey, everybody, we deserve to exist. Our lives matter.” Then a bunch of people said, “No, all lives matter. No, blue lives matter. No, white lives matter.” It was not just someone echoing their right to exist. It wasn’t like, “Well, yes, Black Lives Matter, and our lives matter, too.” It was just being contrarian to the idea that Black Lives Matter. All of those terms hurt. The way it was presented, a lot of people want to argue that the person in question had some deeper philosophical meaning to wearing that shirt, but all you have to do is look at who he was standing with to know exactly where he was coming from.
Us being hurt and triggered and traumatized by that is our right and is very, very normal, based upon the things that Black Lives Matter was born from. Trayvon Martin was stalked and murdered by someone, and that person has not spent a single day even being sorry. That person went on tour around the country, grossly autographing bags of Skittles because he was celebrated by some of the most disgusting people in the world that thought it was okay, that because this young Black kid had a hoodie on that he could be murdered and that someone could get off for it and be celebrated. George Floyd, we watched him die on video. Us saying Black Lives Matter was in response to that. It’s a very, very heavy responsibility, but we’re here now, trying to navigate the best way to have something good come of this besides some billionaire thinking we should wear this shirt for fashion, that triggers and brings back trauma for millions of people in this country.
Some people perceived Kanye’s shirts and the phrase to be an ironic message. Do you think it is possible for a term that holds so much weight to be used in fashion ironically or to send a larger message?
QW: I’ve never heard him suggest it. I just heard a bunch of people who are fans of his suggest it on his behalf. Him standing locked arms with Candace Owens made it very, very clear that he wasn’t trying to be ironic. He wasn’t even trying to be a unifier. She is a very, very divisive, extreme person in her thoughts and beliefs. She released a documentary trying to debunk everything that we know to be true about the murder of George Floyd, on his birthday. We’re not going to pretend that this is a decent person.
“He can’t be a genius who also pretends that he doesn’t know that these things hurt.”
To wear that shirt, locked arms with her, and to put it out in a way that he did, to stir up controversy, to be a troll, to get attention, whatever the reasons are, we’re either going to call him a genius and then call him evil, or we’re going to call him ignorant. He can’t be both. He can’t be a genius who also pretends that he doesn’t know that these things hurt. In my opinion, it would be very difficult to try to claim it and repurpose it for good because in the same way it’d be hard for us to come out here and try to do a white power shirt and try to reclaim that for us. Black power and white power are not just antonyms. They have no similarities except for the word power. One of those is a uniter and an uplifter and a reaffirmer, and one of those is an oppressor and placing people beneath.
RJ: Kanye West specifically, once upon a time, had a shirt where he used the Confederate flag in one of his fashion things. People were asking him about it. Kanye is not from the South. He’s from Chicago. People were asking him, “Yo, what’s this about?” He says he’s reclaiming it. I think that one of the things that we all have to consider is, if you’re doing something, it needs to create the most good. To think of things almost like business decisions, because business decisions are easy, they tend to make themselves. If most people would be hurt or offended by something, it doesn’t make sense to offend most people and try to change most people’s view of history and connection with racist symbols. There’s a lot of hurt behind that. That flag was waving when people were hung from trees by their neck. People’s ancestors. That’s a part of American history. That’s a part of Black history in this country. So to say, “No, we’re reclaiming it,” ignores the fact that there are centuries of hurt behind that. For this one individual to say, “I’m going to change the narrative,” it dismisses everyone else’s. It’s a very selfish thing to do. I think it’s very similar when we’re looking at something as divisive as white lives matter.

What is the significance of two Black men owning the rights to this phrase?
RJ: I think the optics there matter primarily because recently there was a Black man who was popularizing this phrase and effectively making it OK for non-Black people to wear and share this very hurtful message. For Black people to reclaim that, I’ll never say it was almost worth going through it, but I recognize reading the comments that we see on social media, that people feel like they’ve gotten back a little bit of justice. Bear in mind, this isn’t ours. We didn’t think of this. We’re just at the center of it, for better or worse. This is really Black people’s moment.
“For this one individual to say, ‘I’m going to change the narrative,’ it dismisses everyone else’s. It’s a very selfish thing to do.”
We are just the deciders and the holders of this tool at present. We’re a radio show. We’re two friends. We are not lawyers. We are not trademark people. But for now, it’s important for Black people to sit back and say, “Yes, we needed that. We needed that this month.” It’s like poetic justice… I couldn’t be happier that there are two Black men holding the keys to the future of this phrase. No matter what comes, we are committed to always choosing the highest good or doing the thing that impacts the most number of people positively in our estimation. We’re not trying to be contrarian and change the world by hurting people. You can get a lot more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. We want to make sure that we inspire people, and we don’t hurt them. So here we are. Two Black men.
What do you predict the impact you owning this trademark will have on its use by others?
RJ: We’re learning trademark stuff, too, and in real time because, again, we didn’t expect to be talking to someone as cool as you. The intention was to make sure that a person who has a profile larger than your everyman profile, someone who has real capacity to impact the culture and to change the narrative or to shift the optics of the narrative for a certain group of people in this country, to thinking that it’s OK to wear these type of clothes. The idea here was to keep a person in that position from leaning into doing anything crazy, à la a Donald Trump-level figure. In recent weeks, we’ve seen a person with a lot of status maneuver in such a way to where this term has now become a conversation that people are having at dinner tables around the country. I feel like protecting it from an individual like that is, A, realistic because those types of people don’t love lawsuits. If we want to nickel and dime people who are making a thousand shirts here and there and selling them at Trump rallies, we can certainly do that. That’s a little bit more expensive, but not a fight that we are not willing to have.
QW: At the time that this really became a hot topic, it was at Fashion Week. At that time, Kanye West had billion dollar partnerships with major fashion corporations. So our holding of the trademark stopped people with that level of reach and that level of access to manufacture and distribute such a hateful shirt and such a divisive shirt, from doing so. Like Ramses said, any screen printer in any city can print as many of those shirts as they want, give them out for free or sell them because we just don’t have the capacity to police it on that level. But someone like him, with that level of influence and that level of visibility, it was very, very important. It could be very, very impactful in stopping a Fashion Week show from turning into major fashion with a phrase that was come up with to oppose and be contrarian to the idea that our lives are worth living.
What do you hope will be the final outcome after this?
RJ: We understand the way news works. Six months from now and a year from now, this may not be something that people are talking about. After the next presidential election, depending on how that goes, this specific phrase may be far in the rear view and may not need as vigorous of protecting. At present, we’re just focused on making sure that people aren’t harmed in a significant way and that no one is profiting from this hateful phrase.
QW: Best case scenario, it just goes away. Nobody wants to sell the shirts. Nobody’s saying the phrase. It’s not popular anymore. It’s not buzzing. It’s not hot.
