Spanish-born forward Nico Williams could make his debut for Spain when they face La Romareda stadium in Zaragoza.
The 2010 World Cup winners will play Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League and the 20-year-old winger who earned an invite is likely to make his debut.
The fast-rising winger is expected to have some few minutes to test his abilities and, in the process, close the option so that Ghana can forget about him for a while.
Spain will play Portugal three days later at the Municipal de Braga stadium.
Nico Williams has been instrumental for Athletic Bilbao this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists in 6 matches.
Undoubtedly, suits are not entirely a common trend in most men’s wardrobes. Instead, they have been replaced by casual men’s outfits like streetwear, available at any e-commerce and nearest shop.
Most men wear suits on essential occasions like weddings, ceremonies, graduations or when going for job interviews.
Rich men have different reasons and agendas for wearing them. Others wear them daily to manage their business empires, while other successful business executives alternate between suits and kaftans to close deals.
Suits, like women’s clothes, require much attention to detail regarding the colour, type of fabric and pattern to achieve a dapper look. YEN.com.gh lists Ghanaian men who are making you fall in love with the suit trend.
1. Kojo Jones
CEO of Domus Empire Limited, Kojo Jones caught the attention of social media users when videos of his exquisite wedding to Raychel were shared on social media. He is one of Ghana’s youngest millionaires with experience in construction, design and global real estate development.
Kennedy Osei, eldest son of business mogul Dr. Osei Kwame Despite makes it to our list of top rich men with expensive fashion sense. The father-of-twins is an exceptional general manager of the media conglomerate.
Ghanaian philanthropist Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar, has been pictured hanging out with undefeated world boxer Floyd Mayweather, is one of Ghana’s rich celebrities who doesn’t shy away from showing off his wealth. He is undefeated in his expensive taste for high-end fashion brands.
Rising through the ranks of success, Kojo Nkansah, popularly called Lil Win, is among the wealthiest Kumawood stars.
The newly wedded TV star’s net worth is $1 Million – $5 Million at the age of 31. He earned his money being a professional Movie Actor and director of Great Minds International School.
Award-winning Ghanaian actor John Dumelo, who starred in countless movies, has a net worth estimated at $1.6 million. Although he is currently focused on his farming business, the TV star and politician always pays attention to details regarding his fashionable wardrobe.
After a three-year investigation, New York Attorney General Letitia James has filed a civil lawsuit against Donald Trump, three of his children and his real-estate company, claiming they “engaged in numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation” for at least a decade. The suit claims the Trumps knowingly and consistently overstated the value of at least 23 commercial properties, for the purpose of getting lower interest rates and cheaper insurance. James wants the family and the company to disgorge $250 million, the amount they supposedly saved by duping banks and insurers.
Um, okay? If Trump’s business practices were crooked, it’s appropriate for the correct authorities to hold him accountable. And there’s widespread evidence Trump has pushed the bounds of legality in his long career as a showman and real-estate developer. A 2018 New York Times exposé, aided by leaks of family documents, claimed that Trump participated in a variety of “dubious tax schemes… including instances of outright fraud.” Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, has likewise accused Trump of criminal activity, including some crimes Cohen participated in and went to prison for.
And yet, the New York AG’s suit seems …underwhelming? The presumed victims in James’s suit aren’t customers Trump defrauded, contractors he stiffed, or shareholders he lied to. The victims are banks and insurance companies that supposedly undercharged Trump for loans and insurance policies, because Trump told them his properties were more expansive and valuable than they actually were.
The government doesn’t usually sue on behalf of big businesses that have their own well-staffed legal departments. Financial firms rely to some extent on customers telling the truth. But they also do their own underwriting, for the explicit purpose of assuring they don’t commit money based on bogus information. When ordinary people apply for a mortgage, the bank doesn’t write a blank check with no questions asked. Instead, it does a thorough credit check, values the property and prices the loan according to the risk it believes it is taking.
It’s harder to do due diligence on a complex business like Trump runs, but that’s what investment banks and other large lenders do for a living. James’s lawsuit, for instance, argues that Trump’s longtime lender Deutsche Bank repeatedly gave Trump favorable interest rates and other loose lending terms because of “the improper, repeated and persistent use of fraudulent and misleading financial statements.” Terrible. But isn’t that Deutsche Bank’s problem? Shouldn’t the bank be the one suing, rather than the New York AG? What harm did Deutsche suffer?
‘There doesn’t have to be a loss’
James seems to be taking this approach, as opposed to a criminal indictment, because New York law empowers the AG to seek damages caused by fraudulent business behavior as a form of consumer protection. The law doesn’t require the AG to identify a victim or even demonstrate anybody suffered harm. Plus, the burden of proof is lower in civil cases than in criminal ones.
“What makes this statute particularly powerful is that there doesn’t have to be a loss,” Will Thomas, a law professor at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, told Yahoo Finance. “This statute has been used to disgorge profits illegally gained. The government can be allowed to claw back all of those profits. Provable nature is lower, and you don’t have to prove intent or willfulness.”
A civil suit also prevents James from bumping into the criminal case against Trump’s company that the Manhattan district attorney is prosecuting. Those two offices sometimes work together on criminal cases, as they’re doing on the recent indictment of former Trump adviser Steve Bannon. With regard to Trump, however, they seem to be pursuing complementary approaches instead of overlapping ones.
Trump, of course, claims the AG’s lawsuit is a politically motivated “witch hunt,” his umbrella phrase for every inquiry into crimes or abuses he may have committed. As Trump points out, James is an elected Democrat in one of the most anti-Trump blue states. But that doesn’t mean James is hassling Trump just because she hates him. Prosecutors and other public officials have an obligation to investigate potential wrongdoing if they become aware of it. Media exposés, allegations by former Trump associates and loads of circumstantial evidence provide James plenty of fodder for a lawsuit. Trump’s primary company is based in New York, giving her jurisdiction. James can plausibly say she’s acting on behalf of the New Yorkers who elected her.
Putting the pressure on other prosecutors
James also seems to be priming the pump for other possible criminal prosecutions of Trump, by other agencies. She’s overt about referring evidence of crimes obtained during the AG civil investigation to federal prosecutors and the Internal Revenue Service.
Do they really need the help? The Justice Department already has detailed information on Trump’s business operations, from the Cohen case and other events. Trump was eventually identified as “Individual 1” in documents related to Cohen’s 2018 guilty plea on charges of tax evasion, fraud and campaign finance violations. Individual 1 was complicit in some of the same crimes Cohen went to prison for. In 2019 Congressional testimony that named Trump as “Individual 1,” Cohen further detailed the types of financial shenanigans James is now suing Trump for.
The IRS has supposedly been auditing Trump’s taxes for years. How could it not be? Given the many public charges of tax evasion—whether legal or illegal—the agency would be negligent not to look into whether it’s true that Trump is bilking the tax man.
Maybe James feels it’s necessary to pressure other prosecutors into doing their jobs. The Justice Department reportedly dropped its inquiry into the campaign-finance violations Trump ordered Cohen to commit. The Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, has scaled back his criminal probe into Trump. Criminal proceedings against the company will begin in October, but those won’t focus on Trump personally, even though a prominent prosecutor who left the DA’s office has said there’s ample evidence Trump himself committed crimes.
Other Trump prosecutions seem to be moving briskly. In Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis seems to be on course to bring criminal charges of election fraud against Trump and others working with him to overturn the 2020 election results. The Justice Department has hinted at possible obstruction of justice charges related to its lightning raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property in August, when it recovered troves of classified documents Trump wasn’t supposed to have.
Allen Weisselberg, former chief financial officer of the The Trump Organization, has already pleaded guilty to more than a dozen felonies as part of the Manhattan DA’s probe. Weisselberg will testify against Trump’s company—but not against Trump himself—when that trial kicks off on Oct. 24.
James could end up settling the civil lawsuit against the Trumps, though she would probably insist they agree to harsh terms that make it look like she won. If there’s no settlement, the case will likely go before a jury. But the suit alone, and the evidence it has produced, may already be a form of victory for prosecutors seeking to punish Trump for years of transgressions.
Black Stars defender, Gideon Mensah has applauded the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for arranging the international friendly match against Brazil.
Later this evening, the Black Stars will lock horns with the Selecao in the first of two friendly matches to be played in the September international break.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Gideon Mensah says the team is ready for the tough task ahead.
“It’s been good so far. We’ve been here for three days and we are fully ready and the impact the new bo
ys are also bringing to the team is satisfying so we are ready,” the AJ Auxerre full-back told GFA’s official YouTube channel.
Gideon Mensah added, “Playing against Brazil for sure, is a good test for Ghana, is a good choice and I give it up to the FA for giving us this opportunity. We are going to compete against good countries in the World Cup so playing against Brazil will be a good test for us.”
The game between Ghana and Brazil will kick off at 18:30gmt later today
Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng says the addition of new players will strengthen the team ahead of the World Cup.
Europe-born players including Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Patrick Pfeiffer, Stephan Ambrosius, and Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer all switched nationality in July to play for the West African powerhouse.
Mohammed Salisu, who was reluctant to accept Ghana call up has also join the national team.
Out of the six, five were called up for the friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua with Pfeiffer missing out.
Boateng, who recently resigned as Aston U23 coach, is adamant that these additions will only strengthen the team.
In-form Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil has sent well wishes to the Black Stars team ahead of their game against Brazil on Friday, September 23.
The Black Stars will take on Brazil in their first international friendly on Friday, September 23rd in France before travelling to Spain to play Nicaragua on September 27th.

Despite missing out in Otto Addo’s 29-man squad, the enterprising Genk winger has wished the team well ahead of the Brazil encounter.
“All the best guys” he tweeted while replying to a tweet from the Black Stars official page.

All overseas destinations, with the exception of the United Kingdom, will now incur a 5% rise in freight costs for shipping cocoa from Ghana.
Similarly, the Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC), Ghana Shippers Authority, and 18 shipping lines have agreed to an increase in mega bulk shipments of 10% for the 2022–2023 cocoa season.
According to the agreement, the rate for both bagged and bulk cocoa shipping to the United Kingdom (UK) is now £31.50 per tonne, while the rate for bagged and bulk cocoa shipping to the Northern Continent is €54.02 per bag and €56.60 per tonne.
For Estonia, it is €61.74 for bagged and €64.70 for bulk; Mediterranean Europe €60.64 for bagged and €63.53, for bulk; the Far East, US$100.44/106.09 for bagged and Brazil US$116.24 for bagged and US$121.78 for bulk.
Subsequently, Bunker (Fuel) Adjustment Factor (BAF) to all destinations apart from the UK has been increased by two percentage points from 28 – 30 percent.
Those were the agreements reached after a meeting at this year’s Cocoa Freight Negotiation Conference held at the Hilton Sorrento Palace, Sorrento, Italy on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
Global developments in the shipping market, including increasing charter rates, container shortage, and rising bunker prices accounted for the new upward rates in freight charges.
Again, the need to keep a competitive freight rate for Ghana’s cocoa, especially in the light of competition from neighboring countries was considered in the decision-making.
Commenting on the recent charges, Mr Vincent Okyere Akomeah, the Managing Director of CM, said he was confident that the agreed rates would be “a win-win for the Government and the shipping lines.”
Mr Akomeah was hopeful of a good cocoa year with the help of key stakeholders such as the Ghana Standard Authority, the shipping lines, buyers, and insurers.
Ms Benonita Bismarck, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority, expressed appreciation to the shipping lines for their support and cooperation.
She also thanked them for keeping faith with Ghana, promoting trade, and serving as trusted conduits between CMC and the buyers for the international transportation of Ghana’s cocoa.
Shipping lines present at the conference included Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Company, ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd, Grimaldi, COSCO Shipping Lines, Messina Lines, Ocean Network, CMA-CGM, and Arkas.
Liz Truss’s new UK government delivered the most sweeping tax cuts since 1972, slashing levies on rich households and companies in a bid to boost economic growth in a move that triggered a massive market selloff of the currency and bonds.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng announced a series of tax cuts and regulatory reforms that will cost £161 billion (more than R3 trillion) over the next five years. That fanned concerns about inflation, already near a 40-year high, and about a spiraling government debt burden.
The pound crashed below $1.11 for the first time since 1985, sliding 2% in addition to declines earlier in the week. Borrowing costs on five-year government bonds jumped the most for a single day on record as traders dumped UK assets.
The pound fell to R19.71 on Thursday afternoon, from R19.94 earlier today.
“It is extremely unusual for a developed market currency to weaken at the same time as yields are rising sharply,” said George Saravelos, global head of foreign exchange research at Deutsche Bank AG. He warned the UK currency is “in danger” and suggested markets were treating it like a developing economy.
The package was more ambitious than expected, with a big giveaway for the UK’s wealthiest households and plans to tear up planning rules and reform financial regulations.
Kwarteng scrapped the 45% additional rate of income tax, paid by only the richest earners, leaving the top rate at 40%, and cut the basic rate from 20% to 19%. He paid only lip service to concerns about rising public debt, reiterating a pledge to “reduce debt as a percentage of GDP over the medium term.”
The Conservative administration hopes its program of lower taxes and deregulation will turbo-charge the economy, staving off a recession that the Bank of England says has already begun and shaking the UK out of a decade of weak growth.
Casino economics
Business groups embraced the decision, while economists said the measures may quickly become unaffordable. Unions and the Labour opposition said the measures will benefit the rich and do little to help those on moderate incomes with a tightening cost-of-living squeeze.
The opposition Labour party branded it “casino economics” and others warned that the government’s fiscal credibility now depended on whether it can hit its growth target. Kwarteng rejected that criticism.
“For too long in this country, we have indulged in a fight over redistribution,” the chancellor said. “We won’t apologize for managing the economy in a way that increases prosperity and living standards. Our entire focus is on making Britain more globally competitive.”
He set a target of 2.5% trend growth, a level not seen since before the 2008 financial crisis.
“We promised to prioritize growth,” he told Parliament in London on Friday. “We promised a new approach for a new era.”
The Treasury responded to concerns about high levels of borrowing needed to pay for his giveaway by promising new fiscal rules later this year that will ensure the debt falls as a share of national income “in the medium term.”
Kwarteng’s department also released figures suggesting stronger growth could lower borrowing by £40 billion. He said the numbers would be properly costed by the Office for Budget Responsibility.
“The policies announced in Chancellor of the Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini-budget will provide the economy with a sugar rush over the next year, but we highly doubt it’ll deliver the gear shift in growth that the government is banking on,” Dan Hanson, Bloomberg Economics. That means it will lift inflation at a time when the Bank of England is trying to cool price pressure and, because the policy package is unfunded, put debt on an unsustainable path.”
The measures will deliver a massive fiscal stimulus at a time when the Bank of England is struggling to rein in inflation, which at 9.9% is almost five times its target.
The plunge in gilt markets means that investors are now betting the central bank boosts its benchmark lending rate a full percentage point to 3.25% in November, which would be the sharpest increase since 1989. It’s a sign that traders believe that the extra borrowing will do little for growth but drive up prices even more quickly.
Paul Johnson, director of the Institute of Fiscal Studies, said the plan amounts to the biggest single giveaway by the Treasury since 1972, when Ted Heath was prime minister and Anthony Barber chancellor. Barber’s budget resulted in spiraling inflation and a recession.
“That budget is now known as the worst of modern times,” Johnson said on Twitter. “Genuinely, I hope this one works very much better.”
Tim Sarson, head of tax policy at KPMG, said the mini-budget signaled “a clear change of direction” and a “return to the economics of the 1980s.”
Martin Weale, who served at the BOE from 2010, said the government plans will “end in tears” and a run on the pound.
The chancellor’s plan included a pledge to liberalize regulations on planning and in the City of London’s financial district, ending a cap on bonus pay for bankers.
Additional eye-catching measures include a cut on stamp duty, which is charged on property purchases, removing 200,000 buyers out of the tax altogether. A planned 1.25% increase in payroll taxes this year was reversed. Businesses were given help, with the planned increase in corporation tax from 19% to 25% next year abandoned and investment allowances increased.
That came on top of support for households and businesses with spiraling energy costs. The Treasury said the emergency energy package, under which household bills will be frozen for two years, will cost £60 billion over the next six months.
Steps to reduce planning restrictions for land use, “getting out of the way to get Britain building”
Creating 40 new “investment zones” with lower regulations for those who build businesses Cancelling a planned increase in duties on alcohol Truss and her allies say the program won’t spur inflation and that cutting taxes and bureaucracy will allow businesses to expand and draw more people into work, lifting tax revenue in the process.
“What we’ve seen today is a significant shift in economic policy in the UK, and I think it’s the right one,” Gerard Lyons, chief economic strategist at Netwealth Investments Ltd. and an adviser to Truss, said on Bloomberg Radio. “If the policy is right for economy, then also it should be right for the markets as well.”
Economists and former Bank of England officials attacked the plans even before Kwarteng appeared in the House of Commons on Friday. Danny Blanchflower, a policy maker during the global financial crisis more than a decade ago, said investors should short the pound.
Other critics include the Resolution Foundation, which points out the measure will widen inequality, handing more benefits to the richest people in society and costing those on lower incomes more.
Family-owned firms have a special set of difficulties to overcome.
Personal relationships between family members frequently start to get more complicated, challenging, and in some cases, divided as they grow and mature.
Fewer than half of all family-owned businesses are able to survive a generational change in ownership as a result of these characteristics, and only a very tiny proportion continue to be viable into the third generation.
He said, “A family-owned business has the potential to go from strength to strength through generations, provided that appropriate governance frameworks to manage the family dynamic are adopted and agreed to by all the family members.”
“A family business constitution is the ideal way of managing the family dynamic within a business and ensuring that relationships are protected while the best interests of the business are advanced,” Mr Achiampong said.
He described a family business constitution as a written document that exists alongside and must be aligned with the other business governance frameworks, such as a shareholder agreement or memorandum of incorporation.
It sets out the rights, values, responsibilities and rules that apply to all family members as stakeholders of the business whether active or passive.
“A family business constitution does not need to be complicated and can be tailored to the evolving requirements of the family-owned business as the family grows and new spouses, partners and generations are added,” Mr Achiampong explained.
He advised family-owned businesses to introduce the business constitution as early as possible, when the family and business structure are as uncomplicated and decisions regarding the guidelines or rules to be included in the framework can be made objectively.
He however pointed out that a constitution could be established at any point in a business’ history and doing so can avoid significant conflict down the line.
“In our experience at First National Bank, while some of the decisions that need to be made when setting up a constitution can be uncomfortable, especially for a long-standing business, the relatively minor pain of making those choices now pales in comparison to the potentially massive, and possibly business destroying conflict that a family constitution can help prevent in the future,” Mr Achiampong explained.
He added that conflict avoidance was not the only reason for, or benefit of, a family business constitution.
“In addition to setting out plans and structures to deal with situations that could arise during the course of business, the family business constitution can be a highly effective recruitment, remuneration, compensation, retirement and succession planning vehicle, and it is an excellent way of maintaining certainty within the business in the event of a family tragedy, like severe illness, injury, divorce or even death of a family member who is a shareholder,” he said.
“Sustainability and continuity of a family-owned business simply require clarity on how that business and its stakeholders should be governed and by making the rights, responsibilities, expectations, and conduct of existing and future family members 100% clear, a family business constitution helps secure generational wealth and unity, and does away with risky assumptions and uncertainty that could destroy the business and ruin relationships,” he said.
The next James Bond should be willing to commit at least a decade of their life to the role, according to one of the franchise’s producers.
“The thing is, it’s going to be a couple of years off,” producer Barbara Broccoli recently told Variety of the next movie. “And when we cast Bond, it’s a 10-, 12-year commitment … Not everybody wants to do that. It was hard enough getting [Daniel Craig to do it].”
Craig retired from the role after 15 years with last year’s “No Time to Die,” his fifth movie as Bond. It was one of the few pandemic-era hits at the box office, grossing $774 million worldwide.
“A lot of people think, ‘Oh yeah, it’d be fun to do one,’” Broccoli said. “Well. That ain’t gonna work.”
“It’s a big commitment,” she added, “It’s not just showing up for a couple of months of filming.”
Broccoli and her fellow Bond producer Michael G. Wilson have been mum on who will follow in Craig’s footsteps. But they hinted that the evolution of the franchise during the Craig era will continue, such as developing his character beyond being a womanizing spy.
“Bond is evolving just as men are evolving,” Broccoli said. “I don’t know who’s evolving at a faster pace.”
Broccoli previously ruled out a female Bond, but is open to a non-white actor in the role.
“I think it will be a man because I don’t think a woman should play James Bond,” she told The Hollywood Reporter last year. “I believe in making characters for women and not just having women play men’s roles. I don’t think there are enough great roles for women, and it’s very important to me that we make movies for women about women. He should be British, so British can be any [ethnicity or race].”

Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin has sponsored the final mock exams of Junior High School (JHS) three students in the Afigya Kwabre North District of the Ashanti Region.
The famous actor also gave away some writing materials as part of his “One Student, One Pen” initiative, which was launched in May in partnership with DPS Ball Point Pens.
Information gathered by the Ghana News Agency reveals that the actor spent over GHC 50, 000 on this sponsorship project with over 1500 students as beneficiaries.
In a social media post, Lilwin said that the gesture was to prepare the students ahead of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which comes off in October.
“Education is an important aspect of our lives. While others take it for granted, there are others who crave it and struggle to get it.
“As part of my social responsibility, I sponsored a mock for all JHS final students in the Afigya Kwabre North District, both public and private candidates,” he said.
“This mock is to eliminate fear and bring hope for their upcoming BECE,” he wrote on Facebook.
Lilwin, who is the owner of the Great Minds International School in the Afigya Kwabre District, has thousands of students enrolled, with the less-privileged enjoying full scholarships.
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first child, it was decided he would be known as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Archie would have gotten the “courtesy title” of Earl of Dumbarton upon his birth, but the couple announced he was not given a title and, instead, could be given the secondary Sussex title before inheriting the dukedom.
Following Harry and Meghan’s exit from the firm, however, and their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duchess of Sussex revealed Archie was actually not given a title.
She told the talk show host: “They didn’t want him to be a prince or princess, not knowing what the gender would be, which would be different from protocol, and (said) that he wasn’t going to receive security.”
She added, in a blow to the royal family: “In those months when I was pregnant… we have in tandem the conversation of, you won’t be given security, not gonna be given a title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
Now, according to a rule established by King George V after he issued a Letters Patent in 1917: “The grandchildren of the sons of any such sovereign in the direct male line (save only the eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales) shall have and enjoy in all occasions the style and title enjoyed by the children of dukes of these our realms.”
This essentially means King Charles can now give prince and princess titles to both Archie and Lilibet. When – and if – that will happen, though, is unclear.
The Sussexes are still at odds with the firm, with sources saying though they appeared to unite following the queen’s death and the proceedings that followed, “no meaningful rapprochement” has been made.
Meanwhile, behind the scenes, there’ve been arguments over titles for Harry and Meghan’s children, according to People, with a spokesperson saying nothing of the sort will be decided while the family is in mourning; the mourning period will last one more week after the funeral.
How the line of succession looks after the death of the Queen
Of course, one can’t help but wonder about the likelihood of the above, with the royal website having already updated William’s title to Prince of Wales and all three of his children to Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales.
The Duke of Sussex’s children, now sixth and seventh in line to the throne behind their father, are still listed as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.
He explained that the initiative was designed to help a chosen group of agriculture students learn cutting-edge capabilities in the value chain so they could teach those skills to others when they returned after an 11-month break and avoid leaving for greener pastures.
Dr. Akoto added that although all the cohorts had been lauded for their hard work, a few had decided to leave after their program. He was addressing during a brief ceremony to bid farewell to 200 agriculture students in Accra before they traveled to Israel on the program.
“This development is not good for Ghana’s image and the country risks losing its slot to such actions. This prgramme is of great benefit to development of the sector,” he said.
The Minister said as part of measures to curtail the challenge, the beneficiaries would be required to sign a bond with a guarantor and parents who would be liable to pay GHC 7000 should the students abscond after the completion of the programme.
He said participating schools whose students absconded would be blacklisted from the programme.
The government of Ghana through MoFA and the Israeli government through AgroStudies of Israel reached an agreement to offer Ghanaian agriculture students training in modern practices, especially in the areas of GreenHouse vegetable production to increase local production.
Under the agreement, the programmes, which started with 50 students in 2018 had increased to 200 in 2022 recruited from six tertiary institutions, including Kwadaso Agriculture College, University for Development Studies, University of Ghana and University of Cape Coast.
While in Israel, the graduates will be attached to cooperative farms called Kibbutz, where they will work on the field for five days and be in the classroom for a day.
The Ghanaian graduates will be joined by other beneficiaries from other parts of Africa, Asia and South America.
Mr Lawoetey Tettey, the Human Resource Director of MoFA, said the internship was a life-changing experience and urged the students to open up and acquire knowledge, and skills and return to support the agriculture sector.
“We are now trying to modernise Ghana’s agriculture sector and Israel is a country with capacity and reputation with regard to agriculture,” he said.
Mr Emmanuel Asante, a beneficiary from Kwadaso Agriculture Collage, thanked the government for the opportunity and assured that they would return armed with farming technologies to help develop the country.
The director/actor/writer discussed the controversial couple — to whom he opened his home when they first moved to California — on Wednesday’s Today With Hoda & Jenna. He spoke about the “support” he offered when they stepped down as senior members of the British royal family, allowing them to live in his Beverly Hills mansion for months and use his security detail during the spring of 2020.
“It was a very difficult time for them,” Perry said.
He continued, “What I know about the two of them, and I wish the world knew, [is] how much these two people love each other. They found each other out of all these odds against them finding each other. They found each other and the love they have is really, really moving and I wanted to do anything I could to support them.”
Perry said he looks at the couple as an example of what he’d like to have in a relationship. (Perry and longtime girlfriend, Gelila Bekele, with whom he shares a son, split in 2020.)
“If I don’t have that, what she and Harry have, I don’t want it,” he said. “It’s true.”
The former Suits actress recently talked about Perry befriending her soon after she married Harry in 2018. While they hadn’t met, he communicated to her that he was praying for her “and that he understood what this meant,” she told The Cut in August. “He could only imagine what it was like” for a biracial American to marry a British royal. The billionaire media mogul urged her to reach out if she ever needed support.
In 2020, she did — after she and Harry abruptly left Britain and royal life. They had set up a temporary home, with son Archie (they now also have Lilibet), in Canada, but their whereabouts had been discovered by the media and they had no security, having relinquished their royal roles.
“Sometimes, you can tell your life story to a stranger on a plane as opposed to some of the people that are closest to you,” Markle said of reaching out to Perry — whom she still hadn’t met in person — for advice on their next move. The man behind the Madea franchise offered them his Beverly Hills mansion, and security detail, while they plotted their next move. They lived there for several months before buying their $14.7 million Montecito, Calif., compound.
In Markle’s sitting room of her new home — where neighbors include Oprah Winfrey (friend of Perry and the couple) — is a grand piano Perry gave her as a housewarming gift, with the instruction: “Write the soundtrack for your life,” as it was noted in The Cut interview.
Harry and Markle returned to the spotlight in England this month after the death of Queen Elizabeth on Sept. 8. Their every move has been chronicled as they reunited with the royal family — amid their ongoing estrangement, which exploded after their bombshell Winfrey interview in 2021 — to mourn the long-reigning monarch who was buried on Monday.
A royal insider told People magazine that William and Kate reuniting with Harry and Meghan “was awkward. Both couples found it hard. They were in a stoic spirit of just getting through it for the queen.”
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has handed over some managers of three facilities to the CID Unit of the Ghana Police Service for an investigation into non-compliance with the country’s tax law.
The facilities are Champion Dishes, a Restaurant at Adabraka, Grace Has Found Us and Celeb’s all at Dansoman were found not to be issuing the Commissioner-General’s invoice.
Mr Joseph Annan, Area Enforcement Manager of GRA in charge of Accra Central, told the Ghana News Agency that they had violated regulations of the Value Added Tax (VAT).
He said the exercise or operations were part of an ongoing nationwide VAT Invigilation exercise by the authority to retrieve some taxes due the State.
He said the Police would do their investigations, but for them as tax administrators, “we will assess their books and then apply all the penalties and interest that are applicable.”
He said it was an offence not to issue the VAT invoice and the law would take its own course.
Mr Annan said the GRA as part of a nationwide invigilation would continue to embark on mystery shopping exercises across the country to apprehend culprits evading tax.
“We will continue this exercise until our taxpayers do the needful,” he added.
He said the Authority in their auditing process would conduct a pre-emptive assessment, which meant that they would have to pay immediately, but then they would recommend a full audit to be conducted.
Mr Annan said even though they would audit their books, the legal aspect would be handled by the CID, where they would prepare their docket for possible prosecution.

Adwoa Konadu Tortor, the head of the Foreign Exchange Bureau Examination Office, warned that doing so might result in an 18-month prison sentence, a fine from a court with the appropriate jurisdiction, or both.
On Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s Frontline, she stated that the Police are required to detain such individuals, present them in court, and bring charges against them.
Without a license, it is forbidden to conduct business in the foreign exchange market.
The police have the right to detain anyone who works in the market without a license because doing so is against the law.
If they are found guilty, they face a fine of 700 penalty units, 18 months in prison, or both when they are taken before a court of competent jurisdiction after being apprehended.
She appealed to the media, the general public and other stakeholders to support the BoG in clamping down on the illegal operations of unlicensed forex traders.
She told those breaking the law, “Stop it now!” Apply for a license if you want to trade currencies. “Do not hide in a small corner and operate illegally.”
Meanwhile, the police have arrested 76 people in Accra for allegedly engaging in the illegal trading of foreign currencies (forex), particularly US dollars.
The suspects were apprehended last Tuesday by a special team from the Ghana Police Service (GPS) and the Bank of Ghana (BoG) for illegally selling and buying the CFA Franc, euro, and British pound, among other currencies, in Accra’s Central Business District (CBD).
They were apprehended in Rawlings Park, Tudu, Cowlane, the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Kinbu, Timber Market, and Lava and have since been placed in police custody to assist with the investigation leading to their prosecution.
Four-time Emmy winner Obaid-Chinoy most recently helmed Episodes 4 and 5 of Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel.” The adaptation of Marcus Sakey’s novel is produced by Paramount Pictures and has been dubbed a “passion project” for Oscar winner Smith and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, who collaborated on “I, Robot,” “I Am Legend,” and “Hancock.”
The book centers on Nick Cooper, a federal agent who works for the Department of Analysis and Response and is tasked with tracking down the 1 percent of non-neurotypical people deemed “abnorms,” or “Brilliants,” who are born with special powers. The character Nick is a parent of a Brilliant daughter and is also an abnorm himself, in a “Blade Runner”-esque twist. He has the ability to see the future and ultimately tries to stop a civil war.
Smith is producing the film through his company Westbrook Studios with Jon Mone and Ryan Shimazaki. Screenwriter Goldsman and Greg Lessans are producing via Weed Road Pictures, along with Shane Salerno via The Story Factory, and James Lassiter. Author Marcus Sackey, who wrote the “Brilliance” novel, is also serving as a co-producer. Sackey also penned sequel novels “A Better World” and “Written in Fire,” opening the door for a possible film trilogy.
Director Obaid-Chinoy previously helmed Academy Award-winning documentary shorts “Saving Face” and “A Girl in the River.”
Smith’s post-Oscars slap career has proven to be on hold after the Best Actor winner was banned from the Academy after assaulting presenter Chris Rock onstage. Smith issued an apology. His AppleTV+ film “Emancipation,” directed by Antoine Fuqua and a once hoped-for awards contender, is rumored to be released this December. No release date has been confirmed.
“Over the last few months, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and personal work,” the “King Richard” star said in onscreen text during an apology video in July 2022. Smith said he was “fogged out” at the Oscars after attacking Rock.
A total of 159 terrorists and extremists attacks occurred in the Sahel and West Africa Sub-region, the Minister of National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, has revealed.
He said the attacks resulted in 538 fata lities and 127 injuries, and displacing many of the victims of the attacks that occurred this year, between July 1 and August 28.
Mr Kan-Dapaah disclosed this when he opened a two-day workshop titled “The Role of Civil Society Organisations in Ghana’s Border Security Management”.
It was organised by the Ghana Integrity Initiative, a local chapter of Transparency International, in collaboration with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) to partner CSOs under the Strengthening Border Security in Ghana Project (SBS Ghana).
The SBS Ghana is funded by the European Union Trust Fund For Africa and implemented by the Ghana Immigration Service and ICMPD.
The project seeks to, among others, work closely with CSOs, universities, research and think tanks to submit research and action projects highlighting innovative approaches and best practices on mobility and border management.
Opening the workshop, Mr Kan-Dapaah expressed concern about the growing threat of terrorism and extremism in the Sahel and West African Region.
He said the Sahel and the West African Region was going through difficult times.
Mr Kan-Dapaah observed that countries such Togo and Benin, which one thought would not be attacked, were currently being attacked.
The National Security Minister indicated that insurgent had taken control of six of the thirteen regions of Burkina Faso.
He said Burkina Faso was located in a strategic position of the Sub-region.
Mr Kan-Dapaah said Ghana was not immune to attacks by terrorists and extremists and called on all stakeholders to forestall any attack on the country.
“The security agencies and stakeholders are not sleeping and are working closely to respond to the growing threat of terrorism and extremism in the Sub-region,” he said.
Mr Kan-Dapaah called for closer collaboration between security and state agencies and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on effective border management to promote security and peace in the Sub-region.
He said CSOs had data, skills and knowledge which could be tapped as part of efforts to ensure border security and peace in the Sub-region.
“This is the time when active collaboration with CSOs is critical if we want to secure the security of the country,” he said.
He appealed to the media to be circumspect in reporting on security issues to sustain the peace and security of the country.
The Head of the European Union Delegation in Ghana, IrchardRazaaly, in his remarks, said the security of the Sahel and West African Sub-region was coming under threat through activities of extremists and terrorists.
He said promoting security in the border regions could not be the responsibility of government alone.
Mr Razaaly said the SBS Ghana could help curb the threat of violent extremism in the Sub-region.
“This project will help give a new vision of what borders should look like,” Mr Razaaly said.
The Executive Director of GII, Mrs Linda Ofori-Kwafo, said the emergence of terrorism and extremism was posing a threat to the Sub-region.
She said the porous land borders made border communities vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
Mrs Ofori-Kwafo said the SSB Ghana was seeking the support and collaboration in ensuring effective border security, and the two-day programme gave the beneficiary CSOs the opportunity to receive a grant of 700,000 euros to showcase their projects.
She called for the active involvement of CSOs in border security issues.
Grammy-nominated musician, actor and author Janelle Monáe has been named The Trevor Project’s annual “Suicide Prevention Advocate of the Year” for their “unwavering commitment” to championing LGBTQ+ mental health awareness, the group announced on Tuesday.
Monáe, who uses both gender-neutral and female pronouns, is the second person to be honored by The Trevor Project, a national LGBTQ+ youth suicide prevention organization. The rapper Lil Nas X, who is openly gay, won the group’s inaugural award last year.
The honor is given annually to influential public figures that lift up the LGBTQ+ community, spread mental health awareness and remind queer youth that “they are not alone,” The Trevor Project said Tuesday in a news release announcing Monáe’s win.
“Queer representation in the media can have a life-saving impact on LGBTQ young people, and Janelle Monáe is the embodiment of unapologetic self-expression,” Josh Weaver, vice president of marketing at The Trevor Project, said Tuesday.
“Throughout their career, Janelle has been a trailblazer who constantly challenges the status quo – from their depictions of queer love in their music videos, to their iconic, gender nonconforming style, they continue to redefine the rules around how LGBTQ and BIPOC people can navigate through life,” Weaver said.
In a May interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Monáe said their “natural instinct” has always been to stand up to bullies and to protect people that are trying to live as their authentic selves.
“I always want to protect marginalized and working class folks,” Monáe said.
Last year, the multi-hyphenate artist released a 17-minute version of their 2015 protest song “Say Her Name (Hell You Talmbout)” that featured the names of 61 Black women and girls killed by law enforcement.
Monáe came out publicly as pansexual in a 2018 Rolling Stone cover story, telling the outlet they are “open to learning more about who I am.” In April, they confirmed during an appearance on Facebook Watch’s “Red Table Talk” that they identify as nonbinary.
“I just don’t see myself as a woman, solely,” Monáe told hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris. “I feel all of my energy.”
Monáe has also been open about their struggles with depression and anxiety and revealed in a 2020 interview with NPR that they had suffered several panic attacks while recording their album “Dirty Computer” after former President Trump was elected, worrying that white supremacists and extremists may feel “emboldened” to attack them for speaking out against things like rampant racism, sexism and xenophobia.
“As someone who has dealt with depression and anxiety, prioritizing and protecting your mental health is everything,” Monáe said Tuesday in a statement released by The Trevor Project. “No matter what you’re going through, your life matters so much — don’t let anyone try to dim your light.”
“Growing up queer and Black in a religious household, I faced a lot of challenges trying to understand my identity and where I fit in as someone who always felt beyond the binary,” Monáe, who was raised in Kansas City, Kan., said. “We, as LGBTQ folks, as people of color, are a powerful and unstoppable community. I want every young queer person out there to know that I see you, you are beautiful in all of your forms, and you are never, ever alone in this world.”
Pastor Love Kweku Hammond, the former husband of gospel singer, Christian Love now known as Obaapa Christy, has disclosed that he wrote all her major songs when they were together, however, they couldn’t make a profit back in the day.
The preacher, who doubles as a songwriter, has disclosed that his exceptional songwriting skills earned his former partner major hits in the music industry.
“I have a number of songs to my credit. I wrote Maame Joyce’s song ‘Nhyira’. It was Pastor Love who wrote ‘Eye Adom’.
“I think I wrote 8 albums for my ex-wife. I wrote the song ‘Me Werenfi’. I can say that after her song ‘Metease’, I wrote all others that came from her,” Pastor love disclosed in the interview monitored by GhanaWeb.
Speaking in an interview with Afia Tamakloe on Mahyease TV show, Pastor Love noted that music was not lucrative when his partner recorded several hit albums which were all written by him.
“I can say that at that time, music wasn’t fetching money. We were not making money at that time. We gave the song to someone to produce it, the reason we didn’t make money. They say there is something called royalties but nothing came out of it. There was no money,” he said.
The talented singer and her husband went their separate ways some 11 years ago but have been in the news for various reasons with Pastor Love accusing his wife of keeping their children away from him.
The professional basketball coach, who has been engaged to actress Nia Long since 2015, was suspended from his role as Head Coach of the Boston Celtics, the team shared on Sept. 22. Hours before the announcement, ESPN, citing multiple sources, reported that Udoka was facing disciplinary action for his alleged “role in an intimate relationship with a female member of the franchise’s staff.”
In the Celtics’ statement, the team said Udoka was suspended for the 2022-2023 season, effective immediately, due to “violations of team policies.” It added, “A decision about his future with the Celtics beyond this season will be made at a later date.”
Following the news, Udoka gave a statement to ESPN reporter Malika Andrews to address the situation and take accountability.
“I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down,” he said. “I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision.”
His message concluded, “Out of respect for everyone involved, I will have no further comment.”
Before joining the Celtics last year, he coached for the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs.

Though the molestation lawsuit against Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears was dropped Wednesday, the damage already appears to have been done.
The “Girls Trip” star has told TMZ it cost her “all my gigs.”
Caught by their cameras at LAX, Haddish said, “I lost everything. All my gigs are gone.” When asked if the dismissal of the lawsuit would change things, she replied, “I don’t know, bro. I don’t have no job.”
Although she didn’t specify which jobs she may have lost, it was announced earlier this year she would be returning for Season 2 of Apple’s “The Afterparty.” Her next big film is the Disney horror comedy “Haunted Mansion,” which is currently in post-production.
Reps for Haddish did not immediately return TheWrap’s request for comment.
In a separate video, Haddish told TMZ she’s “relieved” the lawsuit was withdrawn, she was “concerned about the kids and making sure they were OK.” When she was asked what Spears thought of the situation, she said, “I don’t talk to him.”
The lawsuit, which was filed earlier this month by a “Jane Doe,” accused the comedic duo of coercing two minors into making sexually themed sketch videos. On Tuesday, the plaintiff filed a notice of dismissal with prejudice – meaning the suit cannot be refiled.
A statement from the plaintiff, per TMZ, read: “My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years – and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us. We wish Tiffany the best and are glad that we can all put this behind us.”
The videos were made in 2013, when the children were 14 and 7. Haddish later said she regretted being part of the sketch titled “Through A Pedophile’s Eyes,” which starred Spears and the young boy.
A lawyer for Haddish told TheWrap that the children’s mother had been trying for years to extort the comedian, calling the claims “bogus” and a “shakedown.”
According to estimations from the National Petroleum Authority, the entire amount of petroleum on hand as of September 20, 2022, was comparable to 43 days’ worth of national demand, not the 13 days that have been mentioned.
According to the report, BOST stored enough oil to last for 13 days out of the total amount, while the bulk oil distributors (BDCs) collectively held enough oil to meet the country’s needs for close to 30 days.
The company has, therefore, urged the public to disregard any publication attributed to its managing director that there was a looming fuel shortage.
“We have taken notice of a publication attributing a prediction of imminent fuel shortage in the country to our Managing Director, Edwin Alfred Provencal.
The allegation is unfounded, and we wish to dispel it,” the release said.
It noted that comments from its managing director on the strategic stocks of the country were misinterpreted to mean there was a looming fuel crisis.
Quoting what exactly the managing director said, the release stated “as we speak, there are no strategic stocks in storage. The strategic stocks levy was zeroed out in the year 2006.
“Instead of the expected minimum of six weeks of national demand in storage as per the second mandate, BOST currently has stocks which can only last 13 days in the event no further imports of products are carried.”
The release explained that the reference to stocks was in reference to BOST owned products in its tanks.
“At any material moment, the total quantities of product available in the country, thus across all tank farms as tracked by the National Petroleum Authority, includes BOST stocks and stocks of private BDCs,” the release explained.
It said the media publications on an impending fuel crisis was, therefore, misleading.
“It equates BOST stocks to total product stocks available in-country and concludes that there is imminent danger of product shortage,” the release added.
A Cape Coast District Court remanded the Tufohene of Ekumfi Akwakrom, Nana Crack, and one other defendant, Christopher Ekow Quansah, in connection with the death of a nursing trainee at Mankessim in the Central Region. The suspects admitted that the nurse was killed for money rituals.
Criss Waddle, a musician and business mogul, reacted to a Facebook post made by TV3 Ghana in connection with the ongoing topic of the nurse’s killing.
The musician explained that he was condemned by people for a previous comment he made when he went to a radio station to promote his album and was asked by the host to share his thoughts on a similar issue.
In his response, he noted that people relate his remark to his wealth and have concluded that he said it to disguise himself as a money ritualist.
“I responded to the topic in my recent radio interview that the education and emphasis should be on the fact that money rituals don’t exist, many people said that I was saying that to cover my own blood money, ignorance once again,” part of Criss Waddle’s comments reads.
Read his comment below:
“Reflections from early JUNE-2022 when we heard a father tried to kill his innocent daughter for blood money, I responded to the topic in my recent radio interview that the education and emphasis should be on the fact that money rituals don’t exist, many people said that I was saying that to cover my own blood money, ignorance once again. here we are in September with another life taken just because two grown-ups decided to kill her for money rituals, a lot of people have died just out of ignorance and illiteracy, this very death was preventable if they feared God or knew that money rituals is never a thing to fall for. Educating the public is key to preventing a lot of these deaths.

Level 400 students of the University of Education, Winneba, have demonstrated because of what they say is a deliberate attempt by school authorities not to update the cumulative record of students for the last three years.
The students among many accusations are blaming the data protection unit of the school for failing to update the records on their portals, making the various portals of the students empty.
The school is expected to hold its graduation for the final year students in three weeks’ time.
The students say they are not able to track their academic performance as a result of the school failing to update the portal.
Demonstrating students are not allowing vehicles to enter the campus and have blocked the main entrance of the school.
Persons caught taking pictures of the demonstration have had their phones seized.
Medikal appears to be having a hard time exonerating himself after he has been dragged into a feud between Nigerian singers, Dammy Krane and Davido.
The Ghanaian rapper has suffered a lot of attacks from Davido’s fans on Twitterafter it somewhat appeared that he is in support of Dammy Krane in the ongoing fight.
Prior to this development, social media users woke up to the news of Dammy Krane pulling out proofs and claiming that Davido owes him some amount of money.
The Nigerian singer claims that Davido has failed to pay him for co-writing one of his songs since 2017.
“My Blooda Davido, run the check. I don reach out to people over the years based on split sheet & outstanding, but no response. We no gats dey get this convo here,” Dammy Krane wrote on Twitter.
The song in question, ‘Pere’, featured American hip-hop stars, Rae Sremmurd and Young Thug.
In a series of rants on Twitter, Dammy Krane took a step further to share a screenshot of Davido’s earlier tweet where he acknowledged that he (Dammy) indeed helped in writing that particular song.
“Shout out to Dammy_krane!! Co-wrote the hook of ‘PERE’ with me!!” The tweet read.
Dammy Krane who seems to have been pissed with Davido’s silence has released a diss track directed at the 30 BG boss, which features Medikal.
The track titled “Pay me” has since triggered Davido’s fans who have lambasted Medikal for involving himself in the ongoing beef.
Medikal who appears to have had enough of the backlashes has, however, taken to Twitter to disassociate himself from the feud.
According to him, that particular track with Dammy Krane was released long ago and perhaps the Nigerian singer saw this moment as the perfect timing to release it.
Medikal retweeted the diss song and wrote:
“I’m not in support with your beef or whatsoever you have going on with David, this song was recorded years ago my guy.”
Davido, on the other hand, is yet to speak on the issue.
For 30 years, the Emerald Literati Awards have honored and recognized the great contributions of authors and reviewers to scholarly study.
The Editorial Board of Emerald Publishing selected his research paper “Stock market performance and COVID-19 pandemic: Evidence from a developing economy,” published in the Journal of Chinese Economic and Foreign Trade Studies, as the most impressive work.
The Paper
The Outstanding Paper Awards have been the backbone of the Emerald Literati Awards for Excellence, acknowledging scholarly research that creates impact and generates real change beyond academia.
In the award-winning article, Mr Insaidoo and his co-authors assessed the impact of the novel COVID-19 pandemic on the performance of the Ghana stock market using daily time series data from January 2 2015 to October 13, 2020. The paper employed the exponential generalised autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (EGARCH) model in its analysis.
Findings
The study revealed, among other findings, that the pandemic had occasioned an increase in the Ghana stock market returns volatility by 8.23 per cent. The paper highlighted policy implications in the light of the findings.
Status
Mr Insaidoo is an economist and a lecturer at the UPSA’s Department of Banking and Finance. He has over 10 years of experience in teaching and research, as well as administration.

The Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC), with support from the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) is organizing a series of workshops to sensitise health professionals in the Bono East region about clinical trials. Two sessions of the workshop have been held at KHRC.
The workshop is aimed at broadening the knowledge and understanding of health professionals, who are seen as key stakeholders, about the role of clinical trials in evidence-based medicine discovery and to help them appreciate the ethical and regulatory standards applied in the implementation of clinical trials in Ghana.
Addressing participants at the first and second sessions held in Kintampo, Dr. Kwaku Poku Asante, Director of the Kintampo Health Research Centre stressed the importance of clinical trials to health professionals as it is a means through which humanity can be saved.
He added that “as health professionals, we forget that clinical trials are as important as the medications that we give to our patients. The reason is that without clinical trials, we don’t get medications and vaccines on the market. The other reason is that clinical trials have been done elsewhere but recently, a lot of trials are being done on the continent and the reason is that we have strong health systems and the capacity, to support the conduct clinical trials”.
He urged the health professionals to be ambassadors of clinical trials and educate people who are oblivious of the benefit of clinical trials and how they are conducted.
Regional Director of Health Services Dr. Fred Adomako Boateng, delivering his presentation on disease burden in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) during the first session, explained that these countries “bear the highest burden of disease globally as a direct consequence of scarce resources in health care”.
The double burden of disease in developing countries according to him, emphasizes the strong need to conduct clinical research to identify cost-effective and novel treatment in these countries.
Reiterating the need to conduct clinical trials particularly in developing countries, Dr. Adomako Boateng noted that the responses to vaccines or drugs are dependent on human genetics and environmental factors, among other things as different people respond to different drugs and vaccines in different ways.
Mr. Japhet Anim, clinical research fellow and lead organizer of the workshop, noted that most research is conducted in high-income countries, where a conducive environment, infrastructure and capacity have been built up in past decades to address the health priorities of these countries. He emphasized the need to promote and advance good quality clinical research in Africa in order to maintain gains made in reducing disease burden and close the significant remaining gap.
Dr. Prince Agyapong, clinical research fellow at KHRC disclosed that prior to the start of a clinical trial, preclinical trials are conducted to generate preliminary information on the efficacy, toxicity and safety of a vaccine or drug, testing wide doses of the drugs using in vitro (test tube or cell culture) and in vivo (animal) experiments before they are introduced into the human body.
Highlighting some major challenges that impede the conduct of clinical trials in the country, Dr. Samuel Ekow Harrison, clinical research fellow at the centre noted that myths and fake news surrounding blood draws often threatens recruitment of participants. He again mentioned low community and stakeholder support as a key challenge in the conduct of clinical trials in Ghana.
Participants expressed their profound gratitude to the centre for the insightful presentations made by the facilitators.
Topics treated included research ethics, regulatory and ethical oversight, and phases of clinical trials, among others. Facilitators at the workshop also included Mr. Elvis Adeniji – Data Manager, KHRC; Mr. Elvis Wilson-Pharmacist, KHRC and Mr. Fred Kanyoke, administrator of the institutional ethics committee.
Established in 1994, the Kintampo Health Research Centre seeks to conduct public health and biomedical research that will influence policy direction and programme implementation that seek to significantly improve well-being and reduce ill-health.
The centre has been in active clinical research for the past 25 years and has been instrumental in performing some key trials that has led to the shift in policy in Ghana and internationally. One such trial was the pivotal phase 3 trial for the WHO-approved RTSS malaria vaccine.
A video has emerged on social media of a trailer truck burning to ashes on the Accra-Tema Motorway.
The video, shared by UTV on its Twitter handle, shows the truck abandoned on the inner edges of one side of the Motorway, while the fire blazed uncontrollably.
It is unclear what may have caused the fire and as seen in the video, there were no first responders on sight.
Traffic on that stretch of the road was however moving at a slow pace.

Speaking in a 4Syte TV interview, he articulated that it was his favourite song from when he was a kid from America, visiting Ghana for the first time.
“That was my favourite song when we were kids, shoutouts to the old guy. How do I still remember? I am trying to tell you this was when I was eleven years old visiting Ghana for the first time. That was my favourite song,” he said.
The American rapper didn’t hesitate to sing the chorus to the song, which was a hit back in the early 2000s.
Vic Mensa is in Ghana for the third time this year with American rapper, Chance the Rapper, as they prepare for their big show coming up in January next year.
Since their arrival, the American artistes have been captured hanging out with Hollywood comedian and actor, Michael Blackson, in his house, for a housewarming party.
A collaborative 5G laboratory has been established by Orange in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, as part of efforts to train regional companies and related industries.
It serves as a precursor to the country’s planned 5G rollout early the following year.
The lab includes interactive service and support options from partners of Orange, such as suppliers Huawei, Nokia, and ZTE.
Orange Ivory Coast CEO, Mamadou Bamba, stated that the laboratory reflects the company’s “historic commitment to digital inclusion”, with the presence of on-site industry specialists providing guidance for companies looking to use the facility, in turn deepening the “value in the local ecosystem”.
A 5G demonstration area has been established to seek out future innovations enabled by the technology.
The Ivory Coast site adds to Orange’s growing 5G laboratory portfolio, taking its total to 15 in the EMEA region.
Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested 21 foreign nationals believed to be illegal immigrantsat Akokoamong within the Ejisu Municipality.
The arrest follows a joint action by community members who say they have observed the suspicious activities of the persons for months and thus decided to hand them over to the police for further investigations to be conducted.
One of the community leaders, Mohammed Ali, said they caused the arrest of the foreigners because they believe they pose a security threat and as such, they want the relevant authorities to probe their operations.
“In the evenings, you will see them make calls. That is what they have been doing. So as residents, we have to be security conscious. Things go on around here and no one knows what they have been doing.”
The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS)has been advocating for stronger collaboration amongst all security agencies to meet the security needs of the country.
According to the GIS, Ghana’s porous borderlines pose a high-security threat to the country.
This threat needs a purposeful cross-intelligence and engagement amongst security agencies and community stakeholders to improve security alertness.
Belgium forward Eden Hazard said he was starting to find his form again after a solid 65 minutes in their 2-1 Nations League home win over Wales on Thursday, but admitted he needed more game time at Real Madrid before the World Cup.
Hazard has barely featured for Real this season after making only one start, something he called a “delicate situation”, and by his own admission it has thrown his place at the finals in Qatar in doubt.
He showed flashes of his quality in the first half against the Welsh and was pleased with his contribution before being substituted just past the hour mark.
“I was happy to start another match,” Hazard told RTL. “You saw that, I think. I’m happy when I play and it was nice to play for the supporters here (in Brussels) again. Our first half was very good.
“I know what I can do. Now I want to get in shape for the World Cup. We’ll see what the coach (Roberto Martinez) decides, but I’m happiest when I play.
“When I play, I give it my all. It’s a delicate situation at Real Madrid. I feel like playing more, but I can’t do more.
“I’ve always said the old Eden Hazard will come back when he plays. I just need to get back into the rhythm.”
Belgium can still qualify for the Nations League semifinals but they must beat the Netherlands by three clear goals in Amsterdam on Sunday to top their group.
“We are going to try to play a good game there and prepare ourselves for the World Cup,” Hazard added.

The Midnights song title lottery game continues, and this one is spicy.
Taylor Swift unveiled the next installment of her “Midnights Mayhem With Me” series on TikTok on Thursday night (Sept. 22) at midnight, of course. Like the first episode just two days before, the Grammy-winning superstar was once again seated next to a gold lottery-ball cage with ping-pong balls labeled 1 to 13, representing each track on her upcoming album, due out Oct. 21.
This time, Swift was joined by her O.G. cat Meredith (who even lets out a perfectly timed meow) to announce the title of Track 8. She’s still in front of the brown crushed-velvet backdrop, but this time she’s wearing a chartreuse V-neck cardigan with white flowers down the sleeves and her hair in braided pigtails. The new title? “Vigilante Shit.” Yes, this is the first time a curse word has appeared in a Taylor Swift song title — though hardly her first-ever musical profanity; hell, she tucked the phrase “f— the patriarchy” into her most recent No. 1 song, the 10-minute version of “All Too Well” from Red (Taylor’s Version).
During Tuesday’s first episode of Midnights Mayhem, Swift shared that the 13th track on the album is called “Mastermind.”
The singer-songwriter previously described the album as “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life.” She explained on Instagram, ““This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve… we’ll meet ourselves.”

The students were voicing their displeasure over what they claimed to be inconsistencies between their results and those that were displayed on the university’s notice boards and web portal.
The university is ready to take a break, and the students claim that they wanted to know their actual test scores before the break so that the new semester could start.
According to GraphicOnline, the university administration apparently planned a meeting with level 400 students in particular to discuss the matter today.
However, after waiting for sometime, with no sign of the meeting happening, the students reportedly massed up and went on rampage.
Some reportedly disrupted lectures and other administrative duties.
They reportedly broke some sign posts, tree branches and used them to block some roads on campus.
This resulted in the calling of the police to intervene.
Manchester United forward Antony seems not to comprehend why Brazilian players are often targeted for dancing after scoring.
His comment comes following recent backlash on Vinicius Jnr and Neymar for their dancing goal celebration during matches.
Ahead of the Ghana clash, the former Ajax star says it is not only Brazilians that score and dance as he believes other players in Europe do same.
“There are many things that are not understood. People can’t lose that joy, that essence that they have and it’s not just Brazilian players that when they score a goal they dance”
“There are also players from Europe who do that. And what I don’t understand is that eyes are on Brazilian players. It’s always a yellow
The Board Chairman of MTN Ghana, Dr. Ishmael Yamson, has attributed the slow pace of the country’s development to greed and corruption on the part of political actors.
Successive governments have taken steps to ensure various sectors of the country are developed, but the progress has not been satisfactory.
Speaking at the Inter-Generational Dialogue organized by Pali Global in Accra, Dr. Ishmael Yamsonbelieves that leaders should be responsible to the people that voted them into office.
“The issue arises when it comes to execution and implementation. And I can tell you that in our country, we have only two problems; greed and corruption.”
Dr. Ishmeal Yamsonreiterated concerns of political actors failing woefully for not implementing their manifesto when they ascend into power.
“But I tell you, I take time to read manifestos but when it comes to implementing the manifesto it raises issues and this is because we are greedy and corrupt.”
“Whether it is about galamsey, Free SHS or whatever, if we don’t believe and behave like we are in the West, that we don’t touch state money because the punishment is just there, with this, whether NPP or NDC is in government, the country will prosper.”
“How long does it take to build the Western rail lines? It will never be built because of greed and corruption,” he insisted.
The Inter-Generational dialogue rallied young people across the country at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences to discuss issues of transformational leadership.
Noah Cyrus is keeping it all in the family by enlisting dad Billy Ray Cyrus on a new duet version of her single “Noah (Stand Still).”
The tender track, which arrived Friday (Sept. 23) at midnight, finds the younger Cyrus reflecting on advice she received from her father in the midst of the Xanax addiction she was secretly battling as she rang in her 20th birthday.
“Death upon my doorstep, if I took just one more step/ There’d be nothin’ left of me except these songs/ And my father told me, ‘Noah/ When you don’t know where you’re goin’/ Just stand still/ Soon enough you will,’” Noah croons over quiet acoustic guitar on the opening verse.
For the second verse, she hands the mic to her father before the two spend the rest of the song harmonizing as they sing, “Just stand still and watch your sunset leave/ The lonely dirt under your feet to fill/ Just stand still/ Sixty-seven-thousand miles an hour/ Around the sun, and that is how it feels/ Just stand still.”

A solo version of “Noah (Stand Still)” is the opening track of the singer’s long-awaited debut album The Hardest Part, which was released earlier this month. The LP also contains the singles “I Burned LA Down,” “Mr. Percocet,” “Ready to Go,” “Every Beginning Ends” featuring Death Cab for Cutie’s Benjamin Gibbard and “I Just Want a Lover.”
The Ghana Association of Bankers (GAB) and 13 top banks have inked a contract with the government for the YouStart Commercial Programme with a total commitment of GH10 billion.
YouStart will act as the primary engine for creating one million jobs over the course of the next three years thanks to the three-year commercial initiative, which has a commitment of GH10 billion.
In order to support young people (18 to 40 years old) and youth-led firms in starting, growing, and expanding their own businesses, the government created YouStart.
District Entrepreneurship, Commercial, and Grace are the three programs that serve as the cornerstone of YouStart’s strategy for lowering unemployment in Ghana.
At the YouStart Commercial Programme’s signing ceremony with the banks, Ken Ofori-Atta, Finance Minister, said the commitment of GH¢10billion in this three-year programme is daring and will enable government to take a ‘big bite’ out of the enormous problems the country faces.
“So never in our history have we made such a bold commitment like a GH¢10billion three-year programme to see how we can really take a big bite out of the enormous problems that we have which can lead to very unsettling circumstances in the future, or radicalisation and all of that,” he said.
According to the Ghana Statistical Service, the unemployment rate for people between the ages of 15 and 35 is 19.7 percent. Even among individuals who appear to be employed, 50 percent are categorised as underemployed.
The finance minister emphasised the urgent necessity for these institutions to continue providing affordable capital, notwithstanding the risk to stability of the banking system.
Financing Arrangement
The Commercial Programme will provide Programme recipients with a conventional loan product from Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs) ranging from GH¢100,000 to GH¢500,000 to support working capital needs, demands for business expansion and the acquisition of equipment or machinery.
The banks will use their own internal sales channels to sell the standardised loan products (also known as ‘white label’ products) at a pre-set interest rate. The loan product, the loan application process, and the loan requirements will all be standardised by government and the Ghana Association of Banks (GAB).
Under the GH¢10billion, government will contribute a portion of the programme money to the commercial programme, and the PFIs will be expected to match government’s funds based on an established ratio and a planned standardised product.
In order to encourage the development of sustainable businesses, the National Banking College will also complement this offering by providing training in entrepreneurship and fundamental financial literacy to young business owners.
“From the Programme’s early days, I maintained that we could not move forward without the full support of our PFIs. Truly, we must all work together (public and private sectors) to ensure we create a culture and mindset that leaves our young people unafraid to challenge themselves,” the finance minister noted.
Popular preacher and former husband of gospel singer, Obaapa Christyhas explained that the divorce was no fault of his; instead, his ex-wife’s.
According to Pastor Love, ministers of the gospel who divorce their partners are always blamed for failing to save their marriages. He explained that when the marital issue goes overboard, it becomes hard to resolve it.
“I am a man of God and I want people to understand that marriage is not speed, it is deep… no one plans to divorce but when you’re not able to solve the faults, it will happen. In my case, the fault wasn’t from me but the woman. I just had to accept it in good faith and move on,” he disclosed in an interview with Afia Tamakloe on Mahyease TV Show.
Pastor Love Kweku Hammond has admonished married couples to learn how to forgive each other if they wish to avert suffering a similar case.
“I have a message for married couples. This time you can find me on TikTok as Pastor Love and I am always having programmes on marriage. You can’t get married or stay in a marriage if you don’t learn to forgive. You must learn to try and sacrifice to forgive your partner when they wrong you. This will help you to progress,” he charged.
He continued: “In my case, it gave me experience, the reason I am also educating others. We must try to forgive to stay in a marriage. I think that is better.”
Men were also admonished to stay away from multiple partners which according to Pastor Love hinders progress in their lives.
“This is my advice to you, womanizing will drain your pocket and also ruin your body. You can’t progress in life. Learn to live by the truth,” the preacher said.
Although the preacher’s ex-wife has moved on by remarrying, Pastor Love noted that he is taking his time to choose the right woman to prevent Ghanaians from calling him out should his next relationship crash.
“Marriage is a long journey, also it is not easy. If you’re not careful, people will blame you for going in and out of marriage. I have been separated from my wife for 11 years but I was in court for 7 years. The marriage hadn’t been annulled so I couldn’t marry. I had to sit, pray and reflect so in your next relationship, you’ll handle the person like an egg,” he added in the interview monitored by GhanaWeb.
The Ambassador of Ghana to China, Dr Winfred Nii Okai Hammond, on Thursday stated that the Embassy of Ghana in Beijing has nothing to do with En Huan, also known as Aisha Huan’s return to Ghana.
He said the Chinese national who was deported from Ghana to China in December 2018 for allegedly engaging in illegal mining activities in the Ashanti Region “did not take any visa from us.”
Dr Hammond made these remarks here when two Chinese investors paid him a visit in his office, to among others, discuss issues of common interest and mutual benefit, including investment in Ghana, job creation for Ghanaians and transfer of technology to spur economic growth.
Dr Hammond told the Ghanaian Times that it was necessary to respond to some unfounded allegations made against the Ghana Embassy for facilitating the return of Miss Huan to Ghana by issuing her a visa.
While saying that the law should be applied to the letter, he noted that En Huang’s case ought to be handled with utmost caution so as not to jeopardise the healthy relationship built by Ghana and China.
Dr Hammond noted there were many genuine Chinese businesses in Ghana contributing to the growth of the Ghanaian economy but said that those who flouted Ghana’s laws must be dealt with in accordance with law.
En Huang had already made two court appearances following her arrest, first at the Circuit Court on September 6, and at the Accra High Court on September 16 in respect of different offences.
At the Accra Circuit Court, En Huang and three others, Jong Li Hua; Huang Jei and HuiadHiahu had been charged with engaging in illegal mining in Ghana as well as engaging in sale and purchase of minerals without licence.
On September 16, the Accra High Court presided over by Justice Lydia OseiMarfo remanded the accused until October 11.
The prosecutor, Mr Godfred Yeboah Dame, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice charged En Huang with undertaking mining operation without licence, facilitating the participation of persons engaged in mining operation, illegal employment of foreign nationals contrary to section 24 of the Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573) and entering Ghana while prohibited from re-entry contrary to section 20(4) of the Immigration Act, 2000, Act 573.

In the midst of a rigorous fight with the media, particularly entertainment pundits and radio presenters, Shatta Wale is to set up his own online radio platform.
Named ‘SM Radio’ with the slogan ‘Music 4 life’, the platform, which is yet to be launched, intends to serve as a medium for pushing his craft.
On Thursday September 22, 2022, the dancehall artiste shared the station’s artwork and transmission link via his social media platforms.
He made the announcement while urging his fans to visit the platform and enjoy his songs.
Although Shatta Wale made his intention of opening a radio station known to the public sometime in 2015 during an interview with Hitz FM’s Dr. Pounds, this is the closest he has gone towards achieving that dream.
It also appears the right timing because of his constant feuds with the Ghanaian media which have heightened in recent times.
Shatta Wale and the Ghanaian media
Shatta Wale has had a strong and lasting conviction that the Ghanaian media does not support artistes like him, who are representatives of the country on the global front, through music.
He has consistently accused the Ghanaian media of only purporting a negative agenda and projecting the wrong image of artistes in the country.
However, the dancehall artiste has also come under scrutiny several times for not pulling his weight as he should.
A couple of journalists and pundits, including Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, Blakk Rasta, and Sally Mann, have labeled him a ‘local champion’, an inconsistent and confused artiste, among others.
Spanish-born forward Inaki Williams could make his debut for Ghana when they face Brazil tonight.

Williams is expected to start in attack for Ghana when they take on five times world champions Brazil in Le Havre on Friday night.
Ghana will play Nicaragua three days later in Spain as preparations continue ahead of November’s World
