Let’s refrain from violence – Mike Oquaye Jnr. to supporters

Tensions have escalated in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency amid allegations of irregularities in the election result tallying process.

Mike Oquaye Jnr., the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for restraint and emphasized the importance of following legal procedures.

During a press conference on December 10, 2024, Mr Oquaye criticized what he termed undemocratic behavior by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of compiling the results without the participation of other political party representatives.

“We respect Ghanaians and the rule of law because we want to follow due process, but no one should think that they can usurp democracy and go and count and collate without the presence of other party people. This is against the law,” he stated.

He urged his supporters to maintain peace, stressing, “No one on my side should go and fight a fellow brother; let the rules work.”

Despite his call for calm, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, won the highly competitive race.

Akurugu secured 51,634 votes, narrowly surpassing Mike Oquaye Jnr., who earned 50,477 votes.

This victory is particularly significant for Akurugu, marking a breakthrough after two prior unsuccessful attempts against the outgoing MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, who had held the seat since 2012.

WAEC demands GHS118m from govt to repair faulty scanners for release of 2024 WASSCE results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has urged the government to promptly release the outstanding GHS 118 million to repair faulty scanners, enabling the timely release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

The delay is due to insufficient funds for repairs and other necessary operational activities.

In a press release on December 9, WAEC stated that while the marking of essay and practical components was finalized by November 29, 2024, the scanning of objective test cards has been delayed because of a breakdown in the scanners.

“The Council is awaiting the release of additional funds out of the outstanding balance of GHC118,000,000.00 from the Ministry of Education to enable the scanning process and other post-examination processes to continue smoothly,” the statement read.

WAEC urged students, parents, and other stakeholders to ignore unofficial dates circulating on social media.

Results will be released once all post-examination issues are fully addressed.

The Council also appealed for patience from its examination officials and suppliers who are still awaiting payment.

“Payment for their services will be made as soon as the needed funds are released from the Ministry of Education,” WAEC assured.

WAEC’s appeal emphasizes the urgent requirement for the Ministry of Education to disburse the remaining funds to ensure the smooth finalization of the examination process and preserve public confidence in Ghana’s education system.

Stop destroying state properties, use your energy to rebuild Ghana – Mahama to NDC supporters

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has called on National Democratic Congress (NDC) members to refrain from any acts of vandalism following his win in the 2024 general elections.

This plea comes in response to reports of party supporters causing damage to property at EC offices and other state institutions since Mahama was provisionally declared the winner of the polls.

In his victory speech at his campaign office, Mahama addressed the incidents, urging party members to stop the destruction of government property.

“There have been reports of acts of vandalism at some government facilities and installations. I urge you not to vent your frustration in a criminal enterprise,” Mr Mahama cautioned.

He urged party members to focus their energy and emotions on positive initiatives, highlighting the crucial role of unity in the nation’s rebuilding efforts.

“We must channel our anger and frustration into the positive enterprise of resetting and rebuilding our nation,” he said.

The president-elect also urged his supporters to keep their celebrations short, emphasizing the great responsibility that awaits them.

“Let us be brief in our celebration, for the weight of office will be an onerous one. Expectations of Ghanaians are very high, and we cannot afford to fail them,” he added.

Mahama acknowledged the steadfastness of NDC supporters, attributing his success to their conviction in the possibility of change.

“Let us maintain and even magnify this joy and positivity that we feel. We have arrived at this moment because so many of you believed that change was possible. Now we know that not only is change possible, but it is also already in process,” he remarked.

The Electoral Commission announced Mahama as the winner, securing 56.55% of the vote, while his opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party, received 41.61%.

God’s ways are not our ways, let us stand together – Bawumia to NPP supporters

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has advised New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters against blaming each other for the party’s defeat, warning that such behavior could undermine the party’s cohesion.

In a meeting with party leaders from the Klottey Korley constituency, Dr. Bawumia pointed to low voter turnout as the main reason for the loss.

He explained that a closer look at the election results revealed that the NPP had unintentionally handed the victory to the NDC, rather than the opposition surpassing their previous 2020 performance.

“We couldn’t meet our expectations that is why we conceded. That doesn’t mean it is over. We lost a battle, not the war. I want to encourage you all. In this election, we were the ones that gave the victory to NDC. They didn’t win because their numbers didn’t change from 2020.

“Ours reduced by 40 percent. I want you all to understand that united we stand, but divided we fall. I have seen many people in pain, but I have an abiding belief in God. His ways are not our ways.

“Blame games will destroy us. Let us stand together. Stop the blame games. Let’s look at the future. Let’s concentrate on strengthening the party. It is not about individual ambition. I know we will come out successful.”

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu and Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has broken silence following the just ended general election.

The MP, also a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed disappointment over his party’s significant loss of seats in Parliament.

While acknowledging the hurt, he emphasized that the NPP’s substantial defeat does not define the party and is not an unprecedented occurrence.

“In 2016, we had a resounding victory, and today, we find ourselves on the other side of the equation. It’s a reminder that elections are a part of the process, not the conclusion. The political landscape is ever-changing, and this loss does not define us.

“The result stings, and I know it hurts. But we must remember that this is not the end of the journey. As a party, we will regroup, reassess, and strategise to win the hearts of Ghanaians once again,” he said while addressing the media after winning is reelection bid.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) emerged victorious in the 2024 presidential election, capturing 56.55% of the vote, the largest share since 1996. The party also dominated the parliamentary race and is on track to secure at least 180 seats in the House.

Afenyo-Markin noted that the election outcome reflects the desires of Ghanaians and deserves to be honored.

We are declaring war on galamsey – IGP orders Regional Commanders

Inspector General of Police (IGP) COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno has vowed to intensify the fight against illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, warning that it poses a severe risk to national security and environmental sustainability.

Addressing the Regional Police Commanders’ Conference, COP Yohuno highlighted the escalating dangers of illegal mining, particularly in the Western North region.

He noted that criminal groups engaged in these activities have carried out violent attacks on civilians and forest guards, creating a climate of fear and lawlessness.

“This lawlessness must not be allowed to continue” he said.

The IGP emphasized that galamsey operations have not only devastated the environment but have also contributed to rising criminal activities.

He pointed out that security personnel attempting to curb the menace have been met with hostility, further complicating enforcement efforts.

To tackle the crisis, COP Yohuno directed all regional commanders to ramp up enforcement efforts and adopt a unified strategy to dismantle illegal mining networks.

“We are declaring war on illegal mining, and I expect every regional commander to take decisive action, to bring perpetrators to justice,” he concluded.

The renewed commitment from the police leadership comes amid growing calls from the public and environmental groups for stronger action against galamsey.

Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tamale have locked up several district assembly warehouses in the Northern Region, halting the distribution of vital relief supplies intended for those affected by droughts and flooding.

The government had sent essential aid, including fertilizer, rice, oil, and agrochemicals, to support farmers who lost their land and crops due to the environmental disasters.

However, the supplies remain stored in the warehouses, with plans for distribution delayed until after the elections.

In the Chereponi District of the North East Region, NDC supporters also locked up additional relief warehouses on December 9, further postponing the delivery of aid to those in need.

This delay has sparked concerns over the timely provision of assistance to communities struggling with the region’s ongoing environmental challenges.

During a press conference on Monday, December 9, 2024, Sammy Gyamfi alleged that Annoh-Dompreh shot the supporter in the leg.

He indicated that the NDC intends to press criminal charges against Annoh-Dompreh, who holds the position of chief whip for the NPP caucus in Parliament.

“As for Annoh-Dompreh, who shot one of our supporters in the thigh, he shouldn’t worry, January 7 isn’t far. The day of accountability is coming. Don’t take the laws into your own hands. We waited for eight years to come, so don’t do the things the NPP did, for which reason Ghanaians have rejected them. Let’s reflect the persona and character of our leader, John Mahama,” he said.

In a statement issued on Monday, December 8, 2024, the party expressed profound disappointment, labeling the actions as intolerable and a threat to the nation’s stability.

The NDC attributed some of these actions to overly exuberant supporters who let their enthusiasm for the party’s overwhelming success in the elections lead to disorderly behavior.

“Some of these acts of vandalism and looting of state properties, are reported to have been carried out by disgruntled supporters of the New Patriotic Party who are of the belief that their party Parliamentary Candidates hoarded state-procured food items, fertilizer and other materials which were meant to be distributed before the December 7 elections, as part of the NPP’s voter inducement strategy.

Also, some of these unfortunate incidents are reported to have been carried out by over-jubilant supporters of the NDC who have been carried away by the excitement of the party’s resounding victory in the just-ended Presidential and Parliamentary elections”, it noted.

The party appealed to its supporters to celebrate with moderation and self-control.

“We wish to call on Ghanaians, especially the rank and file of the NDC, to exercise restraint and to go about their jubilations with a sense of responsibility,” it noted.

Notable NDC figures, including Sam George, Dr. Peter Boamah Otukonor, and Malik Basintele, have been spotted at the centre, alongside NPP representatives Frank Davies and Anthony Karbo.

The growing tension comes as demands for the Electoral Commission to begin announcing results from across the country intensify. To date, results from 15 regions have been collated, with Ashanti Region remaining the only one not yet processed.

Chair of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Council of Elders in South Africa, Benjamin Kofi Quashie, has shared his perspective on the party’s triumph over the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.

He pointed out that the victory now places a heavy responsibility on John Mahama, emphasizing the importance of delivering on the hopes and expectations of Ghanaians.

In a Sunday interview with Happy FM, he explained that the victory was attributed to the fact that “diasporans were motivated because the country was heading in the wrong direction; motivated because we had a president full of himself and only cared about his cronies and himself; motivated because all Ghanaians helped in inflicting the defeat that the NPP had never tasted before.”

In addition to the financial support from the diaspora, the Chair of the South Africa Council of Elders revealed that many supporters traveled to Ghana, with some taking on roles as observers and polling agents, playing a crucial part in the NDC’s victory.

He expressed his joy over the significant impact of the diaspora’s contributions to the NDC’s success. He characterized the 2024 election result as a clear rejection of the NPP, stressing that it sends a powerful message that Ghanaian voters are alert and will no longer be taken for granted.

“Politicians must do what they promise to do, ensuring they carry everyone along. It’s a decisive victory which puts a lot of pressure on Mr Mahama,” he stated.

The Council of Elders Chair addressed the challenges the NDC government would face with the economy they are inheriting. He pointed out that the NDC campaigned on the theme “Resetting Ghana – Building The Ghana We Want Together.”

He stressed that Mr. Mahama must act quickly and unite all sectors to deliver on the development goals set out during the campaign.

“With a manifesto to work with and the ability of Mr Mahama to deliver on his promises, I think we don’t need four years and Ghanaians would begin to experience some relief in their lives,” he stated.

In a statement on Sunday in Accra, NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, condemned the disruptive actions of NDC supporters in constituencies like Damongo, Ablekuma North, and Techiman South.

Kodua emphasized that the NPP’s internal data confirms they have won these constituencies, yet the NDC appears determined to challenge the results.

He strongly condemned such actions, declaring that the NPP would oppose any efforts to tamper with the election results in these constituencies.

Additionally, the NPP called on the NDC leadership to take responsibility and denounce the violent actions of their supporters at the collation centers.

Kodua also appealed to the Inspector-General of Police to ensure the enforcement of law and order, safeguarding the rights and safety of all individuals involved.

Kodua stated, “The NPP has with great concern taken notice of the violent conducts of the NDC thugs as some the constituencies collation centres ie Damongo, Ablekuma North, Techiman South, Aowin, Obuasi East, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Fanteakwa North, Ahafo Ano North, Ahafo Ano South West, Akwatia, Trobu and Tema Central.

“We vehemently condemn these attacks are serving notice that we shall resist every attempt to temper with the result of the parliamentary elections in these constituencies. I call on the IGP…Mr IGP we believe you have seen what is happening at the various collation centres and as a political party the NPP we are calling on you to maintain law and order at the various collation centres.

“We must ensure that the rights and safety of all our citizens are protected. We must not allow illegal looting and intimidation of our citizens, and I call on the leadership of the NDC to call its supporters to order and condemn these unnecessary acts of violence.”

The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has urged Ghanaians to remain patient and allow the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete its constitutional responsibility of announcing the official results of the December 7 general elections.

This appeal comes amid growing tensions and the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) calls for greater transparency in the election process.

In a preliminary post-election briefing held on December 8, CODEO stressed the importance of following constitutional procedures and reassured the public about the EC’s handling of the elections.

CODEO’s findings, based on a representative sample of 1,500 polling stations across the country, confirmed that the elections were conducted transparently. The coalition also reported that 99% of political party agents and all presiding officers signed the parliamentary results declaration forms, bolstering confidence in the electoral process.

The coalition praised the EC’s efforts in organizing the election, especially in terms of polling station setup and the ballot counting process, which were generally considered credible.

CODEO also emphasized that its Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) system would provide an independent verification of the EC’s official results once they are declared.

In its briefing, CODEO expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including the EC, security forces, media, political parties, and the public, for their peaceful engagement in the electoral process.

The coalition also commended Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, for his early concession, recognizing it as a strong demonstration of statesmanship.

“The PVT has already collected data from the 1,500 polling stations sampled nationwide, ensuring a reliable check on the final results. However, CODEO will only release its PVT estimate after the EC announces the official results,” the coalition stated, urging all Ghanaians to remain calm and uphold the nation’s democratic values.

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to promptly collate and release the results from the recently concluded 2024 general elections.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Gyamfi stated that the NDC’s internal data shows that their flagbearer has received more votes than any other presidential candidate.

He further noted that the EC is well aware of the standings of all candidates, particularly the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, the EC’s delay in releasing the results it has already compiled is surprising, as it is clear that the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has emerged as the winner of the 2024 elections.

Meanwhile the EC has noted that it has not yet received the official results for both the presidential and parliamentary elections in the just ended 2024 general elections from all sixteen (16) regions.

In a press briefing on Sunday, the Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Dr Bannor Bio, explained that the results currently circulating are from the regional collation centres and have not yet been finalized at the National Collation Centre.

He emphasized that the EC has not made any statements regarding the current standing of candidates, as the official results are still pending.

The EC reassured the public that it will provide an update once the final results are received and verified.

“Once received the results are also collated in the pool view of the party agents who are here with us and a copy given to each agent present. The results from the National Collation Centre are also posted at the National Collation Centre. The National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has revealed that, for the first time, the party has won several constituencies it has consistently lost since 1992.

Addressing the media at the headquarters of the party, he attributed the victory to God’s grace and the united efforts of patriotic Ghanaians, adding that the people have clearly lost faith in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, this unexpected victory has left some of the executives of the party awe over the results tropping in from different constituencies.

He emphasized that the NDC’s victory is certain and urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to promptly announce the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, as the winner of the just ended 2024 elections.

“We have won in constituencies that the NPP has never won since the 1992 elections and it is unimaginable, unbelievable and incredible that even some of us struggle to believe. The scale of the victory that God has graced us with and the people of this country,” he added.

Mr. Gyamfi urged NDC members to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process by closely monitoring the transport of ballot boxes and other election materials to the constituency collation centres.

He highlighted the critical role of accompanying Electoral Commission (EC) officials during this stage, as it is when the results are compiled and announced.

NDC’s Gyakye Quayson retains Assin North seat

The sitting Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, has successfully secured his seat in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Mr Quayson, who represents the National Democratic Congress (NDC), emerged victorious in the Assin North parliamentary race with 18,023 votes, securing 56.35% of the total valid votes.

His closest competitor, Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), obtained 13,599 votes, translating to 42.52%.

Mr Quayson’s political career has been marked by significant controversy. In the 2020 parliamentary elections, he was found in violation of Article 94(2)(a) of Ghana’s Constitution, which bars individuals holding dual citizenship from serving in Parliament. At the time, Quayson was a citizen of both Ghana and Canada.

The Supreme Court annulled his 2020 election victory, leading to a by-election on June 27, 2023, in which Quayson reclaimed his seat. He was subsequently sworn in on July 4, 2023.

NPP demands recount of ballots from all 177 polling stations in Ejura Sekyeredumase

A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) legal team for the Ejura Sekyeredumase Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Sulamana Issifu, has called for a thorough recount of ballots across all 177 polling stations.

The NPP has raised concerns over alleged ballot tampering and irregularities that they believe affected the election results.

Addressing the media after the polls, Issifu criticized the Electoral Commission (EC) for what he described as grave errors, alleging that the integrity of the ballot papers had been compromised by altered pink sheets.

“The elections in Ejura, which were supposed to be free and fair, have been marred by numerous mistakes, some of which the EC has admitted to. They [EC] have acknowledged that they made significant errors, and these mistakes go to the heart of the integrity of the elections,” Issifu said.

Issifu, addressing the media, firmly stated the NPP’s rejection of the constituency’s election results. He announced that the party had officially petitioned the Electoral Commission (EC), demanding a comprehensive recount before accepting the provisional outcomes.

He further alleged instances of ballot snatching and violence in areas identified as NPP strongholds, noting that the military had to step in to restore order in some affected locations.

Issifu also claimed that the EC had acknowledged discrepancies in certain polling stations, where the National Democratic Congress (NDC) recorded zero votes while the NPP registered figures, raising questions about the credibility of the process.

“The EC called us a few moments ago and told us that there were places where the NDC was given zero, while some figures were recorded for the NPP. These were described as transpositional errors,” he explained.

He stressed that the NPP could not accept the figures recorded on the pink sheets, citing alleged tampering as the basis for their rejection.

On the other hand, the NDC dismissed the demand for a recount. Addressing the press, Stanley Tweneboah Kodua Gyamfi, a member of the party’s legal team, argued that electoral laws allow recounts only at polling stations, not at the collation center.

We’re close to victory; stay alert and stay strong! – NPP to party agents

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the just ended elections.

During a press briefing with party agents, he encouraged them to stay vigilant and focused on their responsibilities as the election unfolds.

While confident about the NPP’s prospects, Frimpong emphasized that the party’s work is not complete until all votes are counted and the official results are announced.

He also reminded party agents of their crucial role in ensuring the election process remains transparent, urging them to monitor the proceedings closely.

“Our confidence in victory is high, but we cannot afford to relax. The real work is ensuring that the votes are protected, counted, and declared accurately. I urge all our party agents to remain vigilant and proactive until the process is fully concluded,” he stated.

The General Secretary also expressed concern over the lower-than-anticipated voter turnout in certain areas, urging Ghanaians to play an active role in shaping the nation’s future.

He called on all eligible voters to ensure they cast their ballots before polling ends, emphasizing that each vote is crucial to achieving a fair and democratic result.

Upper East: Chieftaincy tensions in Bawku contribute to voter apathy across constituencies

Voter turnout in the Upper East Region has seen a significant decline in the just ended 2024 general elections, raising alarms about voter participation, especially in areas marked by political and social unrest.

In Bawku, where chieftaincy disputes have resurfaced, reports of voter intimidation have emerged, further contributing to the reduced turnout.

It is claimed that some voters are being pressured to avoid supporting certain political parties, particularly in regions with heightened tribal and political tensions. This has resulted in a notable decrease in voter engagement in these areas.

In contrast, the 2020 general elections in the region recorded a much higher voter turnout of approximately 82.34%, according to figures comparing registered voters to those who cast their ballots.

The ongoing election has, however, seen a sharp drop in participation, particularly in volatile constituencies such as Bawku, where political unrest is prevalent.

Election observers are urging both the Electoral Commission and security agencies to take immediate steps to ensure voters can exercise their rights freely, without fear of intimidation. The situation highlights the urgent need for enhanced measures to ensure a peaceful and fair electoral process across the country.

The National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has clarified that the son of the party’s chairman in Atwima Kwanwoma, who was caught with 76 thumb-printed ballot papers, is mentally challenged.

Speaking to the media, Mr Gyamfi urged the public to show compassion and understanding, emphasizing that the young man’s condition should not be politicized.

“The young man, our chairman in Atwima Kwanwoma, has been battling mental issues for a while now. This is a delicate matter, and I appeal to everyone to handle the situation with care and respect for the family’s privacy,” Gyamfi stated.

Kwaku Fokuo, the son of Mr. Charles Kwaku Fokuo, the NDC Youth Organizer for the Atwima-Kwanwoma Constituency, was apprehended with 76 thumb-printed ballot papers. The discovery was made by vigilant voters waiting to cast their ballots.

He was immediately detained along with the suspected fraudulent ballots, preventing his escape, and was transported under custody to the Ofoase Police Station.

During interrogation, Kwaku reportedly implicated his father, claiming that he had received the counterfeit ballots from him, which led to his father’s subsequent arrest.

NPP, NDC clash over ballot paper shortage in Yendi

Yendi is grappling with a ballot paper shortage, causing unrest among political parties.

According to reports, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has alleged that some ballot papers went missing after being collected from the Electoral Commission (EC) and transported through regional and constituency channels.

NDC officials claimed that the number of ballots received in Yendi did not align with the figures they were provided at the national level, suggesting a possible discrepancy in the distribution process.

They explained that upon the materials’ arrival, they discovered a shortage of ballots, sparking discussions that eventually led to a resolution.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) also expressed concerns. A representative pointed out that the figures they were given differed from the actual number of ballots delivered, calling the situation confusing.

In response, an Electoral Commission (EC) Director, speaking to Saharan, confirmed the issue and speculated that the shortage could have been caused by a mix-up during transportation.

“The materials came sealed and intact, so it’s difficult to determine where the problem lies,” he said. “We cannot rule out the possibility of a shortage, but we need to wait until all the bags are sorted before jumping to conclusions.”

The EC director called for patience, urging all parties to refrain from making hasty conclusions and allow time for a thorough investigation.

After a meeting lasting around an hour, the political parties agreed on a provisional solution to tackle the ballot shortage. They decided to raise the number of polling agents at each station to three.

“Since we couldn’t locate the missing ballots, the best course of action was to add more polling agents,” explained a senior party official. “This way, we can ensure that any ballot books arriving in the bags from the national level are properly accounted for and do not end up in the ballot boxes.”

The Ghana Police Service is said to have detained four individuals who are allegedly affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for possessing thumb-printed ballot papers reportedly for the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and four others.

A voice in the video was heard saying, “NPP are thieves and we have caught them. They printed plenty of ballot papers.”

In a post on the X platform, the national communications officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi wrote “FOUR NPP GUYS BUSTED AT ROYAL N HOTEL BY YOUTH OF POKUASE WITH CASH, BALLOT PAPERS, BVD MACHINES, A PRINTER AND OTHER ELECTORAL MATERIALS. Food in truck wasn’t for voters but party agents – Ursula Owusu

The Member of Parliament for the West Constituency, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, has dismissed accusations that she attempted to sway voters with food packages distributed from a vehicle.

She explained that the packages were intended for New Patriotic Party (NPP) agents in her constituency to support their well-being, not for voters, as some individuals had suggested.

The MP further stated that the disturbance was orchestrated by supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in an effort to gain media attention and damage her reputation.

“We’ve asked them [NPP party agents] to work for us since dawn. We have to ensure that we’ve given them breakfast, we’ve given them lunch, and we’ve given them dinner. And so we have cars going around distributing food to our agents.

“They got to the Assemblies of God polling station, and the NDC were insisting that we had stuffed the food packs with something. And so they created a scene there. And I’ve read online portals saying we were sending food to people in the queue. That’s grossly inaccurate, and I’d be grateful if at least you take the trouble to ascertain exactly what’s going on,” she said.

The incident occurred when a vehicle drove into the voting area, sparking loud protests from some voters who shouted and demanded it leave the premises.

Security personnel promptly escorted the pick-up truck out of the area and directed it to a safer location as tensions mounted.

Reports suggest that some residents believed the package was intended for distribution by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, to party officials.
