Several properties worth thousands of cedis were destroyed on Assin Fosu Old Education road following a devastating fire that engulfed eight shops, including the popular Success Pub.
The fire was so intense that it took nearly two hours for firefighters from the Assin Fosu Fire Station to bring it under control. The blaze affected various businesses, including a printing press, a restaurant, a pub, and a dressmaking shop.
Among the destroyed items were printing equipment, sound systems, sewing machines, clothes, fridges, and beverages, totaling substantial financial losses.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, though a gas cylinder and a fire extinguisher were discovered among the ruins.
According to ADO III Paul Tawia, the Assin Fosu Municipal Fire Officer, the lack of a fire hydrant in the area complicated the firefighting efforts.
He has appealed to the Ghana Water Company and the Assin Fosu Municipal Assembly to install fire hydrants at key locations to improve response to future emergencies.
