Black Stars of Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations were dashed after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Angola on November 15, 2024, at the Estadio de Angola.
This result means that Ghana will miss out on the tournament for the first time in 20 years, ending their streak of consecutive AFCON appearances dating back to 2004.
Ghana managed to take an early lead against the run of play when Jordan Ayew curled in a stunning free-kick in the 19th minute. However, Angola responded quickly, earning a penalty in the 27th minute. M’bala Nzola stepped up to take it, but Ghana’s goalkeeper, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, made an exceptional save to keep the Black Stars ahead.
Ghana held onto their slim lead at the break, but Angola came out strong in the second half, launching multiple attacks and putting pressure on the Ghanaian defence.
Despite their efforts, they found it hard to break down a solid defensive unit, with Nations FC’s Razak Simpson putting in a strong performance.
However, Angola’s persistence paid off in the 63rd minute when substitute Zini scored with a powerful header to level the score. The game opened up after that, with Ghana having a few opportunities to retake the lead. Jordan Ayew set up Ransford Yeboah in a one-on-one, but the Hamburg striker was unable to beat the goalkeeper. A short time later, Yeboah found Mohammed Kudus in the box, but Kudus’ shot sailed over the bar.
Angola regained control as the match wore on, slowing the tempo with well-executed passing and ultimately securing the draw.
Ghana remains at the bottom of their group with just three points from five matches—two losses and three draws. Their final match against Niger on November 18, 2025, is now irrelevant to their qualification hopes. Angola, who have already secured their place in the tournament, increased their points tally to 13, while Sudan and Niger sit with 7 and 4 points respectively.
Black Stars deputy captain Thomas Parteyrecently shared a photo enjoying quality time with his family after being excluded from Ghana’s squad for the matches against Angola and Niger.
The Arsenal midfielder posted a picture of himself strolling through the streets of London, pushing his newborn in a baby stroller. Partey and his partner, Janine Mackson, celebrated the arrival of their first child in January 2024.
Due to his omission from the squad, Partey will not participate in the upcoming international games. Black Stars head coach Otto Addo remained discreet about the decision, only revealing that he had a “confidential” discussion with Partey regarding the matter.
“Partey wanted to come, but I made it quite clear to him that he cannot come,” Otto Addo told the media during the squad unveiling.
Thomas Partey has now missed the Black Stars squad for the second time in a row after pulling out of the previous squad on account of being unwell.
Otto Addo has announced a 25-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Group F qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The squad features three home-based players who have impressed in the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League: Isaac Afful (FC Samartex 1996), Razak Simpson (Nations FC), and Emmanuel Antwi (Asante Kotoko) are the home-based players.
Also in the squad is France-based Nathaniel Adjei who plays for Ligue 2 side FC Lorient. KAS Eupen goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, is returning to the team after over a year’s absence.
To qualify for the Morocco 2025 tournament, Ghana must secure victories against Angola and Niger and hope Sudan drops points in their final matches.
The Black Stars face Angola in Luanda on Friday, November 15, before hosting Niger at Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18, 2024.
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is set to announce his squad for the final two matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Addo is expected to make significant adjustments to the lineup following disappointing performances in previous qualifying matches and recent injuries.
Among the notable absences will be Mohammed Salisu, who suffered an injury in Ghana’s 2-0 loss to Sudan in October.
With just two points from four games, Ghana faces the risk of missing out on the 2025 AFCON. The Black Stars have yet to secure a win in the qualifiers, recording two losses and two draws.
To qualify, Ghana will need to win both of their remaining matches against Angola and Niger while hoping for Sudan to lose in their respective fixtures.
The team will take on Angola in Luanda on November 15, followed by a homegame against Niger on November 18 to conclude the qualifying series.
On Thursday, security personnel at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium failed to manage the crowd effectively during Ghana’s AFCON 2025 Qualifier against Angola, leading to two separate disruptions.
The first incident occurred in the first half when a fan bypassed security and ran onto the field to embrace Ghana striker Jordan Ayew.
The game had to be momentarily halted while the intruder was apprehended. This marked the latest in a series of pitch invasions, with players like Andre Ayew and Mohammed Kudus previously being targeted.
In 2020, Ghana received a $10,000 fine following a similar fan invasion during an AFCON 2021 Qualifier against South Africa in Cape Coast.
After Thursday’s 1-0 defeat to Angola, disgruntled fans stormed the pitch and caused significant damage to property, including smashing nearly all the pitch panels.
Objects, including plastic bottles, were hurled onto the field after Ghana conceded a last-minute goal in the 93rd minute of the Group F match.
While the police were able to arrest one individual in connection with the vandalism, this episode adds to Ghana’s growing list of fines for crowd mismanagement.
Earlier in January, Ghana was fined $15,000 for disturbances during their AFCON 2023group match with Cape Verde.
Deputy Director General of theNational Sports Authority (NSA),Alhaji Abdul Majeed Bawa, has addressed the recent disturbances at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium following Ghana’s 1-0 loss to Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
After the match, frustration among fans escalated, leading to considerable damage at the stadium. Supporters threw objects onto the pitch and vandalised advertising panels.
In an interview with Asempa FM, Bawa attributed the chaos to the actions of mainly young fans who were upset over losses related to bets placed on the match’s outcome.
“They destroyed, they threw missiles and all manner of things onto the pitch. That one too, is it caused by the NSA? They destroyed the pitch panels,” Bawa stated, dismissing the idea that the NSA could have prevented the incident.
He further suggested that the fans’ actions were linked to their frustration over losing their bets rather than just the defeat itself.
“Honestly, that’s my feeling because if you see all those people who did that thing, they are all young guys,” Bawa added.
Reflecting on the situation, Bawa emphasised that the crowd’s reaction likely would have been different had Ghana won.
“Throwing missiles because we lost. I believe they would not have done that if Ghana had won. After the tension subsided, you ask them and they were saying they disappointed them and they lost. Not that Ghana has lost, oh, but they lost a bet,” he explained.
Angola’s head coach, Pedro Goncalves, expressed disappointment over the poor condition of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch following his team’s 1-0 victory against Ghana in an AFCON 2025 qualifier.
In a post-match interview, Goncalves emphasized that a nation like Ghana should offer better-quality facilities for its home matches, as the state of the field hindered the overall gameplay.
Despite securing the win, Goncalves lamented the challenge posed by the inadequate playing surface, which made it difficult for both teams to perform at their best.
“A country like Ghana deserves a better pitch,” the Angola national team head coach said after the game.
Besides his concern with the bad condition of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, coach Pedro Goncalves was full of praise for his players.
He said the win is just what his side needs as they continue to grow as a national team.
“We are improving a lot. It’s true. The last AFCON and the last COSAFA. Everybody feels that we are growing, but we are searching for this kind of win. The challenge for sure is that tomorrow we return to the ground to work,” Coach Pedro Goncalves said.
In Round 2 of the qualifiers for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Ghana will take on Niger while Angola faces off with Sudan.
Ghana’s hopes of starting their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign on a high were dashed after a late goal saw them lose 1-0 to Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday.
The Black Stars conceded in stoppage time, ending their 24-year unbeaten home run at the stadium.
Despite controlling much of the game and creating several chances, Ghana were undone in the third minute of added time when Angolan substitute Felício Mendes João Milson struck from close range. The Black Stars‘ defense failed to clear their lines, allowing Milson to slot home and secure the points for his side.
Ghana went into the match looking to extend their winning streak. Jordan Ayew led the attack, with Antoine Semenyo and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku supporting from the wings. Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey, and Elisha Owusu formed the midfield trio, while Mohammed Salisu and Abdul Mumin paired in central defense.
Tariq Lamptey and Alidu Seidu occupied the right and left-back positions, respectively.
Mohammed Kudus's jersey against Angola yesterday during the AFCON qualifiers.
The Black Stars made a lively start, with Antoine Semenyo coming close to opening the scoring just five minutes in, but his effort drifted wide. Angola’s goalkeeper Neblu was called into action in the 36th minute when Mohammed Kudus unleashed a powerful shot on target, but the keeper made a crucial save to keep the score level.
In the second half, Neblu was tested again, making a smart save to deny Semenyo’s effort in the 58th minute. As Ghana continued to press for the opening goal, they came agonizingly close on multiple occasions.
In the 77th minute, Jordan Ayew saw his shot blocked after rounding the goalkeeper, and Kudus had a goal-bound effort deflected behind for a corner eight minutes later.
Ghana’s pressure mounted, but they were unable to find a breakthrough. Then, in stoppage time, a defensive error from Abdul Mumin allowed Milson to strike, giving Angola the decisive goal.
Head coach Otto Addo made late substitutions, introducing Joseph Paintsil, Majeed Ashimeru, and Inaki Williams in a bid to rescue the game, but the changes had little impact. Angola held on for their first win of the qualifiers, leaving Ghana with much work to do in the coming games.
The defeat marks a significant setback for the Black Stars, who must now regroup ahead of their next fixture against Niger on Monday. With Angola set to host Sudan in the other Group F clash, Ghana will be hoping for a crucial victory to keep their AFCON qualification hopes alive.
The Black Stars are all set for today’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier against Angola, having wrapped up their final preparations ahead of the match.
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), the technical team and players were seen actively engaging one another as anticipation builds for the encounter.
The game, scheduled for Thursday, September 5, 2024, will take place at the iconic Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. This marks the Black Stars’ kick-off for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, as they aim to secure their place in the prestigious tournament set to be held in Morocco next year.
Ghana, widely regarded as a footballing powerhouse on the African continent, will be eager to make a strong statement to their passionate fanbase. The team will enjoy the home advantage, with the Baba Yara Stadium renowned for its electric atmosphere and fervent support for the Black Stars.
The squad, led by key players such as Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, and rising stars like Mohammed Kudus and Antoine Semenyo, are expected to deliver a convincing performance. In the last international window, Ayew bagged a memorable hat-trick during Ghana’s 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic in Kumasi in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June 2024.
Meanwhile, Angola’s Palancas Negras will be looking to cause an upset against their more favoured opponents. The Angolan side has shown promise in previous games and will be hoping to capitalize on any opportunities that present themselves during the match.
Their last visit to Kumasi ended in heartbreak, with a last-minute goal sealing a 1-0 win for Ghana in stoppage time. Both teams will be vying for victory in this crucial match, which could play a pivotal role in shaping the dynamics of Group F in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Fans are eagerly anticipating a thrilling encounter as the Black Stars seek to assert their dominance, while Angola aims to defy the odds.

The 30-year-old lauded Addo’s meticulous approach and his skill in reading games, noting that his strategic insights make him stand out.
Partey is firmly convinced that Otto Addo is on the path to becoming an elite coach, and Ghana will greatly benefit from his expertise.
“He [Otto Addo] has his ideas, and he makes them very clear. He makes sure everyone knows what he wants to do, and he translates that to the players. The technical team is always ready to help him, so I think he is on a good journey.
He is the one we have to look up to because he has experience, he has played in this team, and he knows everything around the team and what the team needs.
We have to follow him because he has the best ideas,” Partey told SuperSport.
Thomas Partey also assured the players’ readiness to do their best and win the game for Ghana.
“I think it will be difficult games, but we have a good team.
I have not watched our opponents, but we have played against them, and we know how difficult it is to play in Africa,” the 30-year-old told SuperSport.
“I think we don’t have to be favourites but rather go out and show our quality, do our best, and try to win because all we need is to qualify. If we don’t win, we don’t get to qualify, so we have to go all out and win,” he added.
Kick-off for the game against Angolais scheduled for 16:00 GMT.
Black Stars head coach Otto Addois focused on maintaining Ghana’s momentum as they face Angola in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers today, September 5, 2024.
He is expected to make key adjustments to the squad, possibly implementing up to five changes from the team that defeated the Central African Republic in June.
Jordan Ayew, who started in that match, may begin on the bench this time due to his late arrival.
Meanwhile, the team will be without Gideon Mensah, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Salis Samed, and Alexander Djiku, all of whom are unavailable.
In their absence, players like Ebenezer Annan, Abdul Mumin, Majeed Ashimeru, Inaki Williams, and Antoine Semenyo are likely to step into the starting eleven.
Otto Addo may opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Lawrence Ati-Zigi guarding the net and a backline featuring Alidu Seidu, Mohammed Salisu, Abdul Mumin, and Ebenezer Annan.
Thomas Partey and Majeed Ashimeru are expected to anchor the midfield, while Fatawu Issahaku and Inaki Williams could operate on the wings.
Mohammed Kudus is poised to play as the attacking midfielder, supporting striker Antoine Semenyo, who will lead the charge upfront.
Black Stars coach Otto Addo has submitted his squad list to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana, drawn in Group F with Angola, Niger, and Sudan, will begin their qualification campaign next month.
The four-time African champions will start with matches against Angola and Niger.
The Black Stars are set to face Angola’s Palancas Negras at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 5, followed by an away game against Niger on September 9.
Reports indicate that Otto Addo has already provided his squad for the first two qualifiers to the GFA Executive Council. Notably, no players from the Ghana Premier League are included in the roster.
Addo is expected to assemble a strong lineup for these important matches as Ghana seeks to secure a spot in the tournament, which will be hosted in Morocco next year.
The Black Stars are determined to continue their impressive form, following consecutive wins against Mali and the Central African Republic in the2026 World Cup qualifiersin June.
Gelson Dala’s brace propelled Angola to a victory against Mauritania, positioning them close to securing a spot in the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Dala scored the opener by reacting quickly to a rebound from a corner, firing a shot into the roof of the net. Sidi Amar equalized for Mauritania with a dazzling run and finish just before half-time.
However, Dala and Gilberto added two more goals for Angola, making it 3-1. Aboubakary Koita scored a spectacular consolation goal for Mauritania.
With this win, Angola is on course to advance, needing just a point in their final group-stage match against Burkina Faso.
The lawyer for Isabel dos Santos, a rich person from Angola, says that the new criminal charges against her are motivated by politics.
Angola’s top lawyer has accused Ms Dos Santos of doing 12 bad things, like stealing money and lying, according to reports.
Ms Dos Santos is being accused of doing something wrong when she was in charge of a government-owned oil company.
Ms Dos Santos was in charge of Sonangol, the richest woman in Africa. She ran the company from 2016 to 2017.
She is the daughter of the ex-president of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, who ruled the country for 38 years until he stopped in 2017.
Critics say Ms. Dos Santos used her power in Angola to make herself rich, but she denies it.
In reply to the charges from last week, Isabel dos Santos’ lawyer, Dan Morrison, said to the media that she denies the charges and believes they were made by the Angolan government to harm her because of President João Lourenço.
During Mr Lourenço’s presidency, some of José Eduardo Dos Santos’ family members have been accused of different crimes but they say they didn’t do it.
In 2020, Angolan prosecutors accused Ms Dos Santos of stealing and illegally using money.
The international police agency Interpol put out a “red notice” for the billionaire in 2022, telling police around the world to find and temporarily arrest her.
Ms Dos Santos has not been taken by the police since they started looking into her, but her money and things she owns have been frozen in many places.
“Isabel’s lawyer, Mr. Morrison, said she is currently dealing with legal cases in different places to prove her innocence. ”
“The Angolan authorities are trying to scare her so she can’t come back to Angola and run for political office. ”
Ms Dos Santos was recently charged with a crime on 11 December, according to the Portuguese news agency Lusa. The Angolan attorney general’s office said they couldn’t talk about it because it’s a secret legal matter.
Ms Dos Santos has talked about running for president of Angola in different media interviews in the last few years.
She has been called the richest woman in Africa before, and it is said she has about $2 billion. Her name is not on the list of the richest people in the world by Forbes anymore because her money and property are being argued about in different places.
Algeria faced disappointment in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opener as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Angola in Bouake.
Despite taking the lead through Baghdad Bounedjah, Angola managed to secure a point with a second-half equalizer from Mabululu. The Angolan striker converted the rebound after his penalty struck the bar in the Group D clash.
Algeria, aiming to avoid a repeat of their 2022 performance when they exited in the group stages as defending champions, started positively with Bounedjah’s clinical finish after 18 minutes. Although Bounedjah scored a spectacular overhead kick shortly afterward, the goal was disallowed for offside following a VAR review.
The Algerians struggled to create further chances, and Angola, coming into the match with four consecutive goalless draws, drew level in the 65th minute. Mabululu was brought down in the box by Nabil Bentaleb and scored on the rebound after his initial penalty hit the bar.
Despite a late surge of pressure from Algeria, including Riyad Mahrez’s threat from set-plays, Angola, ranked 117th, held on for a point. The result continued Algeria’s recent struggles in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Angolan President João Lourenço has dismissed the minister responsible for economic and social development following widespread protests sparked by the government’s decision to end fuel subsidies.
Manuel Nunes Júnior, an experienced minister and economics professor, has been replaced by José de Lima Massano, the central bank governor, according to an official statement.
The removal of fuel subsidies, implemented with the aim of reducing government expenditure, took effect on June 1st, resulting in a sharp increase in fuel prices.
As a consequence, Angola, a nation abundant in oil reserves and one of the major oil exporters in sub-Saharan Africa, has witnessed a wave of protests, with further demonstrations anticipated over the weekend.
Tragically, on Monday, during a protest in the city of Huambo, police opened fire on a group of demonstrators, leading to the deaths of five people and injuries to eight others.
The incident has heightened tensions and added to the ongoing unrest in the country.
President of Angola, Joo Lourenço, received António Costa, the president of Portugal, on Monday in Luanda, the country’s capital.
Ministers from both countries signed a total of 13 agreements ranging from financial to legal.
“I have to say that we sensed a great willingness to collaborate on the part of the Portuguese justice system, with whom we were able to exchange not only information but also the alignment of Angola’s anti-corruption strategy and to say that in principle everything that was asked of the Portuguese authorities so that we could find the right correspondent”, said Angolan president, João Lourenço.
The Portuguese prime minister announced a significant increase in the credit line granted to Angola.
“To support the Angolan government’s ambition and strategic approach to diversifying the country’s economy, we have significantly increased the credit line from one thousand five hundred to two billion euros”, announced António Costa, prime minister of Portugal.
The cooperation program signed between Portugal and Angola will last until 2027.
According to local media, two pastors of the army of faith religious movement in Angola have been detained for allegedly wearing uniforms from the country’s armed forces.
The two were detained on Wednesday by members of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) who were wearing “red pins similar to the ones worn by army generals.”
The two will be charged with unauthorized use of a military uniform and engaging in illegal religious activities “because their sect is not registered,” according to SIC spokesperson Manuel Halaiwa.
It follows a viral video that showed the two pastors presiding over a ceremony attended by more than 80 youths – some of whom were dressed in replicas of army uniform.
The VOA recently reported that the government had launched a crackdown on unregistered churches and those that purport to perform miracles.
Thomas Partey did not participate against Angola in Luanda due to precautionry measures, according to Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton.
With Andre Ayew’s absence from the team, the midfielder was supposed to lead Ghana in the away leg of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Angola.
For many Ghanaians, Hughton’s decision to omit the Arsenal midfielder from the starting lineup came as a surprise.
Partey was not enlisted and had no impact as the Black Stars rallied from a goal down to earn a point at a time when the team also appeared to need a leader on the field.
Speaking after the game, Hughton revealed the rationale behind Partey’s no show against the Palencas Negras.
“Thomas [Partey] has some small injury issues and we felt it was too big of a risk to start him,” told the media.
Partey put out arguably one of his best performances for the Black Stars in the 1-0 win over Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, March 24.
The draw in Luanda now means Ghana maintain their lead at the top of Group E with just a point separating them and the Central African Republic.
Black Stars captain Thomas Partey is not part of Chris Hughton’s starting eleven who are to come up against Angola in the return leg today.
Daniel Amartey will lead the Stars today as its captain.
The starting XI include Lawrence Ati Zigi, Kingsley Schindler, Gideon Mensah, Joseph Aidoo, Edmund Addo, Salis Abdul Samed, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Antoine Selorm Semenyo.
Those benched include Thomas Partey, Patrick Kpozo, Nicholas Opoku, Inaki Williams, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Osman Bukari, Ransford Yeboah, Kamal Sowah, Joseph Wollacott, Joseph Painstil and Majeed Ashimeru.
Ghana played Angola last Thursday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. Palancas Negras lost by a goal to nil.
Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton, has pledged to ensure that his side leaves no stone unturned when it comes to defense and attack in the return leg against Angola.
Sharing his take ahead of Monday’s game that takes place in Luanda, he said “the approach is that we are up against a good team. I can say something quite obvious, that we will have to defend well and we will have to attack well.
For Hughton, it is important that there is a balance.
“We have to make sure that we are compact as team – this is for sure, because they are a good quality and they a very technical team. But we are here to win the game and you can’t win the game unless you give yourself an opportunity to attack and to attack well. We have to be careful how we do this.”
“If the game becomes too open, if it becomes end to end then of course it can be for any team so we have to have a strategy going into the game as we would in any game,” he added.
According to him, the Palancas Negras will fall on the support from their supporters, however, that would not matter much since “we are a good team.”
“We managed to get the victory a few days ago and it’s something we want to build on,” he added.
Ghana beat Angola by a goal when they clashed at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi last Thursday.

Chris Hughton’s side which arrived in Luanda on Saturday night has recorded some injuries. Andre Ayew couldn’t make the trip as he has been ruled out due to injury.
Other players who didn’t make the trip include Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Salisu and Denis Odoi.
The Black Stars head coach travelled with 21 players.
Meanwhile, Nicholas Opoku has joined the Black Stars in Luanda for today’s game.
The Amiens defender has been drafted in to provide options for Chris Hughton following the absence of Salisu Mohammed and Alexander Djiku.
Nicholas made his Black Stars debut in July 2017, and has gone on to play for Ghana 13 times and scored one goal. He is expected to provide competition for Joseph Aidoo and Daniel Amartey who are the only recognized central defenders in the team.

Chris Hughton, the coach of the Black Stars, has given an explanation for why captain Andre Dede Ayew was left out Ghana’s starting XI in the game against Angola.
The Black Stars defeated the Palancas Negras of Angola 1-0 on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi with captain Andre Dede Ayew sitting on the bench.
After the game, the absence of the Nottingham Forest star dominated the headlines, despite Thomas Partey taking over the captaincy duties and leading the club to victory.
Chris Hughton, who emphasized the captain’s qualities when discussing his decision to bench Andre Ayew at the post-game press conference, said that he made the right choice for the team.
“As a head coach, you have to make difficult decisions. You know the quality that Andre possesses, but you also know the quality of the rest of the squad,” Hughton said.
“Ultimately, it was my choice not to play him, but that doesn’t reflect on his abilities as a player. He remains a valuable member of the team.”
The Black Stars after beating Angola 1-0 are now on top of the Group E table with 7 points ahead of the return leg in Luaanda on Monday, March 27, 2023.
Ahead of today’s game, Chris Hughton noted that his side is prepared for whatever the Palancas Negras’ throw at them.
“I look at my involvement in the team, the squad and association was before I was made head coach so I was aware of course as soon the campaign started and the draw was made that we will play against Angola. So yes, as each coach will do, I have studied them in their last five, six, seven games.”
“They are technically a very good team and obviously with Portuguese influence and a lot of good technical players so I am in no doubt that they are strong and tough opposition so we have to plan for that as we will do for any opposition. But certainly they have the capabilities and very much aware that they can cause us a lot of problem and we have to be prepared for that,” he said on Wednesday while addressing the press.
The Baba Yara Sports Complex in Kumasi was packed when Black Stars coach Chris Hughton conducted his penultimate practice before the match against Angola.
On Thursday, March 23, the Black Stars will welcome the Angolan Palancas Negras in Kumasi for the opening leg of a doubleheader to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Chris Hughton’s house was finished with Abdul Salis Samed’s arrival, who was unable to meet up with his international teammates in Ghana on time due to a delay at the airport in France.
After having less time to train under the new management, Abdul Salis Samed participated in team training, although it is unclear if he would start the match against Angola.
Goalkeeper Jojo Wallacott who got injured after the goalpost fell on him during the session on Tuesday, March 21, also took part in the final training after he was cleared by the medical team.
Mohammed Salisu was the only player who couldn’t complete the final training session after he was escorted to the dressing room over injury concerns.
The Southampton defender is now a doubt for the game against the Palancas Negras according to head coach, Chris Hughton.
The Ghana Football Association has disclosed that goalkeeper Joseph Wollacott is fit and healthy to engage in preparation towards Ghana’s match against Angola come Thursday.
The goalie hobbled off during training on Tuesday evening after suffering a soft tissue contusion of the right big toe.
According to the GFA, he was immediately assessed by the medical team and given emergency treatment.
Wollacott was later reassessed in the medical room at the team hotel and currently, there are no major medical worries since the player is almost pain free.
“The medical team would like to assure the football public that Wollacott will be available for selection as he has been cleared to train on Wednesday,” the GFA added.
The national team of Angola has arrived in Kumasi for the opening leg of the two-match qualification series for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against Ghana.

Goncalves has acknowledged that the game against Ghana will be challenging, therefore his team must play well, and they are prepared for that.
“We know the difficulties we are going to encounter, but we are ready to play a good game in Kumasi,” he told reporters
“It is obvious that Ghana has changed coach but I believe there won’t be much change in what from their performance at the World Cup.”

Ghana will play Angola on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Baba Yara Stadium at 1600.
According to the Ghana Football Association, the first 15 minutes of the training session will be open to the media.
Meanwhile, the Angola national team have arrived in Kumasi.
On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, as the Black Stars were in training, goalie Jojo Wollacott experienced a frightening incident when the goalpost collapsed, injuring his leg.
The goalkeeper, who had just recovered from a long-term finger injury, was escorted from the field and unable to finish the practice.
In a statement, the Ghana Football Association stated that Wollacott’s right toe was hurt as a result of the incident.
The training goalpost, which is smaller than the ones used in real matches, brutally toppled on the goalkeeper in a video seen by GhanaWeb Sports without any sign of a force majeure.
Although the event seemed to be concerning, the GFA clarified in a release that the injury is not significant; as a result, he will be ready for training on Wednesday before the 2023 Africa Cup qualification match against Angola.
The match is set for 16:00 GMT kick-off time at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, March 23, 2023.
The Black Stars’ invitation to German-born player Kingsley Schindler for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola has made him a hot issue.
Tariq Lamptey, a defender for Brighton and Hove Albion, was injured and replaced by Schindler.
“Kingsley Schindler has been called up to replace the injured Tariq Lamptey for this week’s TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola,” Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed in a statement on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
Because he is not a well-known name among Ghanaian players born overseas who are closely watched by the GFA, his call-up aroused eyebrows.
The defender arrived on Monday along with 16 other players who had traveled early for the match against Angola.
Schindler plays for FC Koln in the German top-flight league. He joined Koln in 2019.
After a difficult first two years at Koln, which involves a loan move, he has eventually secured a place in the team.
He played 26 matches in all competitions this season amounting to 1,117 minutes. He scored one goal.
His goal sealed the Europa Conference League group-stage qualification for FC Koln. Unfortunately, they could not make it out of their group.
Schindler was born in Hamburg, Germany, and holds German citizenship. He started his youth career at SC Concordia before joining Hannover 96 youth team in 2011.
He has become the fourth Ghanaian born in Germany to switch nationality to Ghana in one year.
Schindler started his career as a winger before evolving into a fullback. During his time at Holstein Kiel in Bundesliga 2, he hit scored 12 goals.
At Koln, he often plays as a full-back and occasionally as a winger. He could also play in the central area, which explains his versatility.
Kudus is said to have arrived in Ghana on the morning of March 21,2023 ahead of Ghana’s clash with Angola.
The 22-year-old has two goals in two games, making him Ghana’s leading scorer in the qualifying rounds.
In advance of Ghana’s matches against Angola, 18 players, including Kudus Mohammed, have already arrived.
He will travel with the group to Kumasi on Tuesday to continue the team’s preparations.
Ghana will host the first leg of the encounter on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, while the second leg is slated for Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Estádio 11 de Novembre in Luanda.
In preparation for their two-game series against Angola in the 2023 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers, the Black Stars players on Monday begun reporting to camp.
About six of the 25 players who were named for the matches as of Monday, March 20, arrived at the teams’ camp.
Andre Ayew, the captain of the Black Stars, set an example by showing up early to the team’s training.
Andre Ayew arrived in the nation on a flight from the UK on Saturday night after taking part in Nottingham Forest’s loss to Newcastle.
Spanish-based Ghanaian striker, Inaki Williams is also among the players who have touched down in Ghana.
This will be the first time Inaki Williams plays on home soil after switching nationalities from Spain to Ghana. He has so far made 6 appearances for the Black Stars.
In-form Ghanaian winger, Joseph Paintsil has also touched base in Ghana. Paintsil is making his return to the Black Stars squad after being left out of Ghana’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The winger has scored 13 goals with 12 assists in 29 appearances at club level.
Defender Joseph Aidoo also arrived at the Black Stars camp on Monday. The Celta Vigo player is among those who have been named to the squad.
Bournemouth striker, Antoine Semenyo is also in camp. The player arrived on Monday from the United Kingdom. Semenyo was part of Ghana’s squad at the World Cup and has so far scored once for the Black Stars.
Goalkeeper, Jojo Wollacott has also arrived in camp. The Charlton Athletic goalkeeper returns to the Black Stars team after an injury ruled him out of the World Cup squad. Wollacott is one of the trusted pair of arms for the national team in recent times.
Chris Hughton, the new head coach of the Black Stars, has begun preparing his players for the Angola match slated for Thursday, March 23, 2023.
On Monday, nine players who reported to camp for the upcoming AFCON qualifier practiced with the head coach.
Andrew Ayew, Joojo Wollacott, Inaki Williams, Daniel Amartey, Joseph Aidoo, Antoine Semenyo, Joseph Paintsil, and Ransford-Yeboah were among the nine players at camp.
These are a few photos from the training session on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
On Tuesday, the Black Stars will move camp from Accra to Kumasi. In the evening, there will be a training session at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with more drills.
Although Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer, a new Black Stars forward, hasn’t yet had a significant impact on the team, his inclusion is undoubtedly having an effect off the field.
Ransford-Yeboah has only played five minutes of football for Ghana since making the transfer in 2022, but his charm is getting him positive coverage, especially on social media.
The Hamburger SV forward will debut for the Black Stars in Ghana, and even before he kicks a ball, he has received accolades.
Nine players, including Ransford-Yeboah, took part in the Black Stars’ first practice at the Accra Sports Stadium, and the team’s official account tweeted some images of him working out.
The well-built arms and complexion of the 21-year-old got some social media users drooling over his looks.
Some users compared him to Kevin-Prince Boateng who was the toast of most female fans of the Black Stars during his time with the team.
Tariq Lamptey, who is injured, has been replaced by Kingsley Schindler for this week’s TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola.
The midfielder, who was born in Germany and has not yet received a cap for Ghana, arrived in Accra on Monday to join the rest of the team in preparation for the two pivotal games scheduled for Kumasi and Luanda, respectively.
29-year-old Kingsley Shindler plays for FC Köln in the German Bundesliga.
Due to an injury, Tariq Lamptey, who was a member of the 25-man squad announced for the two games, has been forced to withdraw.

Baba Yara Sports Stadium is ready to host Ghana’s match against Angola on March 23, according to Peter Twumasi, Director General of the National Sports Authority.
The Black Stars will be back at the location for the first time in a year following their 2022 World Cup play-off match against Nigeria.

In an interview with Accra-based radio station Peace FM, the NSA boss discussed whether the venue was ready to host the senior national team.
“Yes by the grace of God…I left the place and got to Accra yesterday. I was also there throughout last week work went on smoothly and everything is ready. What we are looking forward to is God will grant us 23rd then we kick off,”
Ghana is joint top of the Group E table with 4 points from two games following a 3-0 win over Madagascar and a 1-1 draw withCentral African Republic in June last year.
The National Sports Authority’s Director General, Prof. Peter Twumasi, has stated that supporters will receive rewards for buying tickets ahead of the Black Stars‘ match against Angola later this month.
Ahead of the game, NSA has introduced what it calls ‘Early Bird Buyers’ in Ghana’s game against Angola in Kumasi to reduce the pressure on networks and demand for online tickets on the matchday.
“We are introducing some reforms such that, the people can really have advanced ticket purchasing and that’s something that had not been done,” Prof Twumasi told Kumasi-based LUV FM.
“Probably we need to motivate those who want to buy the tickets far in advance. Now, we are bringing out variations in pricing so people who will buy the tickets before the match will have discounts, very huge.”
“So those who will be buying the tickets before the matchday will have a huge discount and then on the match day, the price will go up a little bit. So we are encouraging more people to take advantage of this and buy their tickets before the game. The problem comes when they are there buying and we are also using the system for scanning so we want to reduce that,’’ he said.
The third matchday of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifications will include matches between Ghana and Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on March 23.
The NSA also introduced the electronic ticketing system. Initial difficulties existed, but they have been resolved.
Following a 3-0 victory over Madagascar and a 1-1 draw with the Central African Republic in June of last year, Ghana and Angola are tied for first place in Group E with 4 points each.
In four days in Luanda, the Black Stars will honor the reverse match.
Despite Crystal Palace’s loss on Saturday,Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on Jordan Ayew.
The reigning champions were welcomed to Selhurst Pack by the Eagles.
Up until the Citizens were given a penalty for Michael Olise’s late challenge on Ilkay Gundogan, Jordan kept up his impressive play for the home team.
The 28th goal of the year for Erling Haaland came from the penalty spot.
After the game, Guardiola praised Palace’s tenacity and praised Ayew and Zaha for their contributions despite the team’s loss at home.
“It is always tricky playing here [Selhurst Park],” told Sky Sports.
“We are always confident playing at home but I always have this belief that it is always tricky here.
“The way they play and run is just incredible. Jordan Ayew and Zaha are incredible players.
“They are always running and creating spaces for the team,” he added.
With the loss, Palace’s worrisome 10-match losing streak in league play is now the longest in the division, and Patrick Vieira’s team is now only four points above the relegation zone.
Jordan Ayew has been selected for the Black Stars team to play Angola in a doubleheader at the2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] later this month.
Thomas Partey’s call-up to the Black Stars for the upcoming international break has some Arsenal supporters upset.
The said incensed fans advised Partey to decline the invitation and focus on improving his fitness instead because he had just recovered from an injury.
Since he recovered from a muscle injury he sustained in February 2023, the Ghanaian has played 160 minutes in four games.
Thomas Partey was selected for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations team by Ghana, which will consist of 25 players.
The Black Stars will play Angola over two legs. They will host the Black Antelopes in the first leg on March 23, 2023, before the second leg on March 27, 2023.
The Black Stars are tied at the top of Group E with Angola on four points each.

Chris Hughton, the Black Stars’ newly appointed head coach, has selected his 25-man squad for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola.
The Black Stars will play Palancras Negras on March 23 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium before traveling to Luanda for the rematch on March 27.
Players who were a part of Ghana’s World Cup squad in Qatar last year predominate the 25-man roster.

🚨 𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗦𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗗 𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧 📜#BlackStars Coach Chris Hughton has named his Twenty-five man squad for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola.
Nearly 50 years since Angola became a sovereign, independent state, the time has come for our nation to work towards adopting English as an additional official language.
Angola’s only official language is currently Portuguese, which was introduced when it was a Portuguese colony. Making English an official language would not only demonstrate that Angola is unequivocally unshackling itself from its colonial legacy – the change offers significant socio-economic benefits too.
English is the world’s most widely spoken language – with 1.5 billion speakers. Just roughly 400 million use it as their mother
tongue, with the balance using it as a secondary language, making this the first truly global lingua franca – one that is likely to remain so for the foreseeable future. The global use of the language, and its adoption as the standard corporate language of many multinationals, such as Daimler-Chrysler, Airbus, Nestle and SAP) means that it is powerfully linked to business activity, economic growth and prosperity. Writing in the Harvard Business Review, Christopher McCormick finds that:
Research shows a direct correlation between a population’s English skills and the economic performance of the country with indicators like gross national income (GNI) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rising.
Greater English proficiency is connected with a rise in per head income.
Job applicants with “exceptional” English compared with their country’s level earn 30-50% more.
Adopting English will turbo-charge Angola’s economic development, making it easier for foreign companies to invest and do business in the country and for Angolan businesses to expand internationally. With two of its neighbours, Namibia and Zambia, both using English extensively, the shift would also strengthen regional economic ties, making cross-border trade and investment much easier.
Making English an official language has the potential to unlock manifold international opportunities for Angolan citizens, such as studying and working abroad. Crucially, English language proficiency would enable them to command better jobs and higher salaries, regardless of where they are based – improving the quality of life of themselves and their families, and leading to increased tax revenues that can fund government-provided services.
Reaping the Rewards
A shift to English has African precedents: in recent decades it was made an official language of Rwanda and Burundi, both historically francophone. Since 2011, English has been Rwanda’s medium of instruction for schooling from the fourth year onwards. According to the World Bank, Rwanda’s economy grew by an average of 7.2% a year over the decade to 2019, while its per head GDP grew at 5% – making it one of the continent’s fastest growing economies.
According to the latest edition of the EF English Proficiency Index – the world’s largest ranking of countries and regions by English skills based on the test results of 2.1m adults – Angola languishes near the bottom of the 111 countries and regions surveyed (at 105) and has the fourth lowest score of African countries evaluated. For this to improve, a comprehensive, multi-faceted rollout of English language education is needed.

One of the most important places to start is within the education system. We need to recruit foreign national English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructors and deploy them to primary and secondary schools as well as universities (an initiative which could be modeled on Japan’s hugely successful JET Program or the British Council’s English Language Assistants program).
There need to be immersion classes and training in English for teachers already employed. English should be a mandatory subject from the first year of schooling, with a target date for it to become the official medium of instruction once teachers are sufficiently competent.
A model worth replicating is the success of the Complexo Escolar Privado Internacional (CEPI) – a highly reputable school run by ABO Capital in Luanda to help expand access to international education in Angola. Last year, its students won over 50 awards at international education competitions. The school has introduced Maple Bear, a globally renowned Canadian education system that brings bilingual instruction and international academic standards to schools around the world, setting students up for success in life.
With teaching in both English and Portuguese, the Maple Bear program is currently being rolled out for more than 200 students from pre-K to second grade, and it is expected to be implemented across the remaining primary to high school grades by the next academic year.
Education should not end in childhood, however. Angola should provide free or subsidized English language ‘night schools’ for adults and tax credits or subsidies for workplace English language training. In addition, access to internet-enabled English language learning for all ages can help propel the adoption of the English language.
As a country, Angola could also drastically increase the amount of English language programming on TV and radio (for all ages), with news bulletins also reverting to English. While it will take an investment of time and money, these interventions will ensure that Angola is fully able to reap the economic and social rewards of making English an official language.
Social media users are ecstatic about Chris Hughton’s bold decision to leave Baba Rahman out of the most recentBlack Stars squad, which was unveiled by the coach.
Regarding their belief that Reading left-back has outstayed his welcome with the Black Stars, social media users appear to be in agreement.
Some people think Chris Hughton’s action is a sign of the kind of fair and firm decision-making he will employ when choosing players for the Black Stars.
One of the six players who made the World Cup roster but were not included in Chris Hughton’s first selection as Black Stars coach is Baba Rahman.
The returnees in the team include Jojo Wollacott Joseph Paintsil, Majeed Ashimeru, Ransford Yeboah Konigsdorfer, and Edmund Addo.
There was however no place for Felix Afena-Gyan, Ibrahim Danlad, Afriyie Barnieh, and a host of stars.
The 25-man is dominated by players who ply their trade in Europe with no local player making the cut.
The Black Stars will take on Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on March 23 in a game that will be Chris Hughton’s first as substantive manager of the Black Stars.
Ghana Football Association(GFA) has reportedly offered a one-year contract to Chris Hughton, the newly appointed Black Stars coach, according to Original FM,
The Accra-based station claims that Chris Hughton was given a one-year contract offer, which he flatly declined.
According to the report, the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager wants a three-year contract because he thinks it will give him enough time to assemble a squad that is capable of winning championships.
According to the report, Chris Hughton would prefer a three-year contract from the FA, but the Ghanaian government, through its ministry of sports, is also in favour of giving him a one-year contract.
On February 12, the Ghana Football Association named Chris Hughton the new Black Stars head coach.
A statement on the FA’s website read, “The Ghana Football Association has the pleasure to appoint Chris Hughton as Head Coach of the Black Stars following extensive deliberations between the two parties.
“The appointment is in line with the vision of the GFA to continue with the project of building a formidable squad that started with Otto Addo in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament.”
Almost a month since the announcement, the Ghana Football Association are yet to unveil and announce contract details for Chris Hughton.
Henry Asante Twum, the spokesperson of the FA recently disclosed that the unveiling has been delayed due to the death of Chris Hughton’s father.
“Chris had to stay in the UK because he lost his dad and needed time with his family and plan the burial service. That’s why he’s not been to Ghana yet” Asante Twum said in an interview.
“We expect Chris in Ghana next week if everything goes according to plan. We are constantly engaging on his unveiling, media engagement, and build-up to the games,” Henry added.
“He is working, Chris and his assistants will be unveiled together. When he arrives we will communicate the date and venue for his unveiling and then use that as part of the build-up to the game against Angola.
“There will also be squad announcements, details of the contract, and the targets set for the new technical team.”
Ghana will play Angola in the Kumasi on March 23 before traveling to Luanda for the reverse fixture four days later. The Black Stars are joint top of Group E alongside Angola with four points after two games.
The Black Stars will play Angola in the 2023Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers during the first international break of the year.
Some athletes are presently recovering from injuries, but they might not be ready for the qualifiers in March 2023.
In the final week of March 2023, new Black Stars manager Chris Hughton is anticipated to select his team for the doubleheader.
At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on March 23, Ghana will host Angola before leaving for the second leg four days later.
The Black Stars and Angola are tied for first place in Group E with four points each.
Here are players who would miss the games
Tariq Lamptey
Tariq Lamptey is doubtful for Ghana’s games against Angola are low due to an injury he suffered during Brighton and Hove Albion’s win over West Ham United.
The right-back was substituted on the 16-minute after what is believed to be a knee problem.
Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi said, “It’s not a big problem. It’s a small injury.”
His season is over and thus will not be available for the doubleheader.
Alidu Seidu
Black Stars defender, Alidu Seidu is currently going through his recovery process after suffering a meniscus injury.
Seidu has undergone surgery and is expected to be out of action for a month. Therefore, the right-back will not be available for Ghana’s AFCON qualifiers in March.
Due to the Black Stars’ recent inability to consistently score goals in games, the team’s striking unit has become a major source of concern.
The Black Stars have scored seven goals and given up eight in their last five games combined.
At the FIFA World Cup 2022, Ghana’s goals were primarily scored by talented midfielders like Andre Ayew, Osman Bukari, and Mohammed Kudus.
Ghanaians would be hoping that Chris Hughton, the new Black Stars coach, would produce a lethal goal scorer who will enjoy the goals under his tutelage.
At Baba Yara Sports Stadium on March 23, Ghana would play Angola in the first leg of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers before facing them again days later.
Here are 6 strikers who could make Chris Hughton’s squad for Ghana’s clash against Angola.
Ernest Nuamah:
From the staples of Right to Dream and FC Nordsjaelland comes another Ghanaian star waiting to explode. At the age of just 19, Ernest Nuamah is doing great work in the Danish league. Ernest Nuamah has scored 8 goals with 4 assists in 20 matches for his side. The youngster’s 3 goals in 2 matches for FC Nordsjaelland in February is enough to win the heart of Chris Hughton to hand him a call-up. Ernest Nuamah was named in Ghana’s provisional squad for the world cup before it was reduced to 26. He has not made any appearance for Ghana at any level.
Patrick Twumasi
Not many remember Deportivo Alaves as a forward because of hisshort stint in the national team, playing just 3 matches after his 2017 debut. Twumasi, who has been away from the public buzz, has been doing the talking on the pitch. This season, though, the forward scored 8 goals with 2 assists in 21 matches for his Israeli club. Twumasi’s five consecutive goals in February are enough justification for his inclusion in Chris Hughton’s squad for the AFCON double header against Angola.
Bernard Tekpetey
The 25-year-old Ghanaian is arguably the most in-form striker abroad. Last season he netted 10 goals with 12 assists to be awarded the Best Foreign Player in Bulgaria. This season though, the forward has already equalled his 10 goals from last season and is on the verge of scoring more. However, despite his sharp form, Tekpetey has been overlooked by the national team. Since his two appearances at the 2017 AFCON, the striker has never been given a call-up. However, coach Chris Hughton might find him worthy in his squad for the Angola clash.
Jordan Ayew
Jordan is the most experienced striker in the Ghana national team but is experiencing a goal drought. His last goal was on the final day of 2022 when he scored in Crystal Palace’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth. Despite his deep form, Chris Hughton can count on the 31-year-old to create chances for his teammates as he did at the 2022 World Cup. Jordan Ayew has scored 19 goals in 87 appearances for the Black Stars since making his debut in 2010. Hughton might prefer to use Jordan as a substitute due to his age.
Inaki Williams
Despite being Ghana’s lead striker at the World Cup,Inaki Williams was unable to score a goal at the tournament. However, that has not stopped him from scoring goals for Athletic Club. This season, the striker has scored five goals with four assists in 26 matches. Although he has yet to score a goal in six matches, Ghanaians are assured that Inaki will start netting goals when he finally finds his footing; maybe his first match on Ghanaian soil will break the spell.
Antoine Semenyohttps://www.youtube.com/embed/Hu9E9vWulvg
Call him the super-sub because he knows how to score whenever he comes on as a substitute. He scored his first goal for the Black Stars as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Switzerland. The Black Stars striker is currently having a difficult time since joining Premier League side, Bournemouth. He scored 3 consecutive goals at the start of the season for his former side, Bristol City. It would be a big surprise if Hughton left him out of his squad.
In the upcoming 2023Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Angola’s head coach, Pedro Goncalves, has set a goal of two victories over Ghana’s Black Stars.
The first leg of the match between the Black Stars and Angola will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on March 23, with the return leg taking place in Angola on March 27.
Despite acknowledging that the Black Stars are a formidable opponent, Pedro Goncalves stated that they are still hoping to earn the maximum six points from the game.
“Well, I hope we have the strength for six points. We are going to play rounds three and four against Ghana. Ghana is one of the best teams in Africa.
“They were at the last World Cup. They represented very well, and we saw the power of the Black Stars. Only five African national teams represented the continent, and Ghana was there.
“They are one of the best teams. I watched their performance, and they are strong. They improved so much at the World Cup. They have a lot of very good players; they have more players abroad,” he said, as quoted by Ghanasportspage.com.
Both Ghana and Angola have been able to accumulate four points after playing two gameseach in Group E.
Before beginning his visit to four African nations on Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron is anticipated to lay out a new Africa policy.
He is anticipated to travel to Angola, Congo-Brazzaville, the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon for an environmental meeting, and then Angola.

Angola decided that it should focus on the pressing issues of climate change and good governance, including combatting corruption.
For the Maldives climate change is a threat to its very existence.
According to the World Bank, with “future sea levels projected to increase in the range of 10 to 100 centimetres by the year 2100, the entire country could be submerged”.
“Most of the existential dangers faced by our communities are driven by climate change,” says Dhumya from Maldives.
