Direct Accra–Atlanta flights by Delta Airlines slated for December

Delta Air Lines is expanding its footprint in Ghana with the introduction of a new seasonal daily nonstop flight service between Accra and Atlanta, starting December 1, 2025.

This update, communicated through a press release by Kingdom Concepts Consult on behalf of the airline, was shared with the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

The upcoming service aims to offer travellers in Ghana a more efficient route to the United States by eliminating layovers and streamlining the travel experience. Operated with the Airbus A330-900neo, the route will provide passengers with a range of seating options, including Delta One Suites, Premium Select, Comfort+, and Main Cabin.

This development marks Delta’s second nonstop route connecting Ghana directly with the U.S., highlighting the airline’s continued interest in strengthening its presence in the West African market.

The statement underscored Atlanta’s strategic role as Delta’s primary hub and the world’s busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic. From there, travellers will have access to over 215 destinations across the U.S. and internationally, including key cities such as Miami, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Dallas, and Honolulu.

The new service is anticipated to cater especially to those visiting relatives, conducting business, or travelling during festive seasons like “Detty December.”

Passengers on board will enjoy complimentary high-speed Delta Sync Wi-Fi, allowing them to stay connected, stream entertainment, receive travel notifications, and shop online throughout their flight. This feature, available to SkyMiles Members, reflects Delta’s commitment to offering a modern, digitally enhanced flying experience.

The rollout of this route forms part of the airline’s broader strategy to upgrade its fleet with advanced connectivity tools, including the installation of dual-network systems across newer and regional aircraft.

Having served the Ghanaian market for more than ten years, Delta considers the Accra–Atlanta route a significant move toward deepening travel and cultural connections between Ghana and the United States.

The cause of their split is described as an “ongoing matter,” according to an insider.

The couple exchanged vows in November 2022 in a Nigerian traditional native law and custom ceremony, followed by an American ceremony in Atlanta.

Williams, 42, and Guobadia, 59, had announced their engagement in May 2021 after just one month of dating, expressing their love and happiness.

Despite the recent development in their personal lives, Williams has exciting professional news.

Additionally, she has signed an overall scripted deal with NBCUniversal, focusing on scripted project opportunities across the company’s broadcast and streaming properties.

Williams initially joined RHOA in its fifth season, leaving in season 13.

Her most recent appearance was in the third season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, aired last year.

  • Rapper, Killer Mike, arrested after bagging three awards at Grammys

Rapper, Killer Mike, arrested after bagging three awards at Grammys

Grammy-winning rapper Killer Mike, also known as Michael Render, was arrested shortly after clinching three Grammy Awards at the ceremony on Sunday.

The arrest came in connection with a physical altercation at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where the Grammys took place.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the arrest through a social media post, aserting that Killer Mike was booked on a misdemeanour battery charge and was subsequently released.

Representatives for the rapper have not yet responded to requests for comment, and the Recording Academy directed inquiries to the police.

Video footage posted by a journalist for The Hollywood Reporter showed the rapper in handcuffs, being led through the arena by a police officer, less than an hour before the Grammys telecast began.

The incident left fans and observers puzzled, considering that Killer Mike had just graced the Grammys stage, celebrating his victories for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.

The rapper, who is not only a prolific musician from Atlanta but also an activist and organizer, had shared inspiring words during his Grammy acceptance speech.

However, the abrupt arrest raised questions on social media about the reasons behind the detainment.

Meanwhile, Killer Mike’s X and Instagram accounts continued to stay active, commemorating the Grammy wins despite the unexpected turn of events.

  • Man Utd reaches agreement with Atlanta for 20 year old Hojlund

Man Utd reaches agreement with Atlanta for 20 year old Hojlund

Manchester United have successfully reached an agreement with Serie A’s Atalanta for the acquisition of 20-year-old striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The talented player was notably absent from the squad during Atalanta’s pre-season friendly against Bournemouth, signaling the impending deal.

The agreed-upon deal stands at an initial £64 million with an additional £8 million in potential add-ons. Atalanta initially sought a guaranteed sum of £77 million before negotiations settled.

Sky Sports News had previously reported that Hojlund’s preferred destination was Old Trafford, alleviating any worries about interest from PSG in the Danish international. Personal terms were effortlessly finalized, as Hojlund committed to a five-year contract with the option to extend for another 12 months.

Manchester United received a boost when Atalanta secured the signing of Almeria forward El Bilal Toure, further clearing the path for Hojlund’s move.

United’s incoming transfers are nearly complete, and any further arrivals will likely depend on potential departures. Notably, there is interest from other clubs in players like Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Fred, and Donny van de Beek.

Should any of these players leave, Manchester United is prepared to enter the market to find suitable replacements. The club continues to show strong interest in Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

“United are conscious that Hojlund is more potential than the finished article, but believe Erik ten Hag’s coaching could help mould him into an elite player.

“Marcus Rashford may need to play some games as United’s focal point while the 20-year-old adjusts and gains experience. Long-term he is seen as a talent that has the potential to become world class under Ten Hag.

United have now solved the three core squad issues the manager identified: a goalkeeper, forward and dynamic midfielder. This has been done within the budget the club set themselves, which was conditioned by Financial Fair Play regulations.

“Hojlund had made it very clear Old Trafford was his destination of choice, so even though PSG had registered their interest with a take-it-or-leave-it bid, there was no worry or concern at United’s end because they knew the player wanted to join them, they knew they had done a lot of homework on this deal and they have still stayed within their budget.

“United have talked Atalanta down from what they initially wanted. The last asking price was £77m guaranteed. We know that United have gone for £64m guaranteed, so they feel that is a win. We have to stress this is a 20-year-old who is still very inexperienced, so it is quite a hefty price for United to pay.

“But they believe he has got such a high ceiling and that he can progress and become world class under Erik ten Hag, so it’s basically backing their manager’s coaching ability and what the scouts have seen in Hojlund.

“We’re told it wasn’t because of PSG coming into the race that United have elevated their price point; it’s simply because, to get the deal done in time for the player to have enough training sessions with the squad to be ready for the start of the season, they wanted to get an agreement in place.

They feel a compromise has been reached, even though they’ve gone higher than they probably would have liked to.”

  • Atalanta rejects Utd’s ‘players to replace cash’ move in transfer deal for Rasmus Hojlund

Atalanta rejects Utd’s ‘players to replace cash’ move in transfer deal for Rasmus Hojlund

    Manchester United have
expressed interest in Atalanta’s star forward, Rasmus Hojlund in their pursuit of a new striker.

However, their attempt to secure the player through a combination of cash and player exchange has been swiftly dismissed by the Serie A side.

Due to financial fair play (FFP) restrictions, Manchester United proposed an offer involving both monetary compensation and the inclusion of players, specifically Fred and Donny van de Beek.

Nevertheless, Atalanta has firmly rejected this proposal.

Atalanta’s stance is that they will only consider a cash deal for the 20-year-old Danish striker. According to The Athletic, the Italian club values Hojlund at €100 million (£85 million/$111 million).

Manchester United will need to reconsider their approach and meet Atalanta’s cash-only requirement to potentially secure the highly-rated forward.

FFP restrictions mean that United won’t meet Atalanta’s demands, and the idea of throwing players into the deal is to bring the cash payment down. United could move on to other targets should Atalanta refuse to budge.

United will try to find a way to break the stalemate with Atalanta, but with Hojlund only one year in to a four-year contract, the Italian side hold all the cards in negotiations.

  • Bed bugs ‘eat’ man alive in prison

Bed bugs ‘eat’ man alive in prison

A male prisoner in Atlanta has been eaten alive by bed bugs, according to the lawyer of the bereaved family.

In a photo shared by Michael D Harper, Lashawn Thompson, who was jailed for a misdemeanor, had his body covered with bed bugs.

He is calling for a criminal investigation and told reporters a lawsuit is pending.

“Mr Thompson was found dead in a filthy jail cell after being eaten alive by insects and bed bugs,” Mr Harper said in a statement. “The jail cell Mr Thompson was housed in was not fit for a diseased animal. He did not deserve this.”

Lashawn Thompson was placed in the Fulton County Jail psychiatric wing after officials judged him mentally ill.

A Fulton County Medical Examiner’s report shows that Mr Thompson was found unresponsive in his jail cell on 19 September – three months after his arrest.

He was pronounced dead following attempts by local police and medical personnel to resuscitate him, according to USA Today.

Mr Harper says jail records show detention officers and medical staff noticed Mr Thompson was deteriorating but did nothing to administer aid or otherwise help him, BBC’s US media partner CBS News reported.

The medical examiner’s report said there was a “severe bed bug infestation” in his cell in the psychiatric ward but said there were no clear signs of trauma on Mr Thompson’s body.

The report listed the cause of death as undetermined.

  • 1 Dead, 5 injured in shooting near downtown Atlanta shopping district

One person is dead and five others are injured after a shooting Saturday evening near a popular shopping and entertainment district in Atlanta.

CNN reports the shooting took place around 8 p.m. in the city’s Atlantic Station shopping district. The individual who was killed was 12 years old, while the other victims range in age between 15 and 21 years old.

“Atlanta is a group project,” Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said. “When a 12-year-old dies in our city, on our city streets, with 100-plus young people that come to this area … the whole village has a responsibility, and the whole village is impacted.”

Atlanta police Lt. Germain Dearlove told reporters that the exact circumstances of the shooting were still unclear. No arrests have been made.

“It may be between two groups, one shooting at another, so two possible shooters,” Dearlove said. “Currently, we’re in the preliminary stage. We’re in a fact-finding mission to see what exactly occurred.”

In a statement to CNN, a spokesperson for Atlantic Station said, “Atlantic Station Security is working with APD on this matter and has indicated there is no active threat to the property.

The community’s safety continues to be our top priority, and we are working closely with law enforcement during this active investigation.”

  • Eric André sues over police’s ‘racial profiling and coercive stops’ at Atlanta airport

Eric André has filed a lawsuit against Clayton County over police’s “program of racial profiling and coercive stops” at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

As previously reported, André went public last year with what he described as a racial profiling incident at the Georgia airport, ultimately hitting Jimmy Kimmel Live to detail the harassment. Per André, a statement from Clayton County police about the incident was “full of misinformation,” including their assertion that the incident amounted to a “consensual encounter.”

At one point during the resulting interrogation, André said, police asked him if he was “transporting crystal meth to Los Angeles.”

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Policing Project at NYU School of Law announced that André and fellow comedian Clayton English, who is said to have been targeted in a similar manner while traveling to Los Angeles in 2020, have filed a lawsuit in which it’s argued that these police tactics are not constitutional.

In the filing, dated Oct. 11, the legal team behind the suit (including pro bono counsel from Jones Day and Lawrence & Bundy) notes that the program being utilized by the Clayton County Police Department and investigators from the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office doesn’t hold up to scrutiny of the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment variety.

More specifically, the suit states, police records show that officers have been choosing their targets in the airport stop program “based on race.” Defendants in the suit include Clayton County, CCPD chief Kevin Roberts, CCDAO investigator Michael Hooks, and multiple CCPD officers. The officers named in the filing include Aimee Branham, Tony Griffin, Kevin Campbell, and C. Smith.

“I was blocked in a jet bridge by two police officers who interrogated me about drugs,” André said Tuesday. “I didn’t see any other Black people boarding at the time. It’s hard to believe I was selected at ‘random’ for questioning. It was a humiliating and degrading experience.”

In May, André and Adult Swim announced the impending arrival of the sixth season (a.k.a. Season 666) of The Eric Andre Show. Confirmed guests for the 2023-premiering new season include Lil Yachty, Jon Hamm, Rico Nasty, Raven-Symoné, and more.

  • Watch Safaree throw chair and hit himself in the head on ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’

On a recent episode of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Safaree stormed out of a heated argument by throwing a chair that ended up hitting him on the back of his head.

A clip of the moment, which came after he got into an argument with one of his fellow cast members about his co-parenting relationship with Erica Mena, began to circulate on Twitter this week. Safaree can be seen playing a card game during the tense situation, and appeared to snap after the conversation refused to let up. That’s when he stood up, picked up his chair and threw it. But instead of throwing the chair ahead of himself, he somehow managed to strike himself in the back of his head.

As reported by XXL, the reality star’s outburst happened after he questioned whether he was the biological father of one of his children with Mena. “I’m like, why the baby ain’t got my goatee yet,” he joked. “Where his muscles at? You know what I’m saying?”

Safaree’s fellow cast member, Mendeecees Harris, highlighted that Rich Dollaz, who was also playing the card game, had been involved with Mena in the past, too. He said Dollaz doesn’t have a goatee, and suggested that he could be the true biological father.

Safaree welcomed his second child with Mena last year shortly after their divorce. At one point, Mena alleged that he wasn’t present when their child was born, though Safaree shot down the allegations that he’s a “dead beat” dad. “I don’t wAnt a Treat for being with my kids but don’t act like I’m not with my kids becuz y’all don’t see it,” he wrote on Twitter last year. “My kids live in a mansion and that’s because of me! I’m with them all the time!”

  • PnB Rock murder investigators reportedly looking into possibility of ‘Known Enemies’ being responsible

The ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting of PnB Rock earlier this month is now moving in multiple directions at once, local police sources have claimed.

Early Wednesday, TMZ shared a report citing LAPD sources in which it was claimed that one potential direction centers on learning more about potential “known enemies.” Specifically, investigators in the case are alleged to be looking deeply into Atlanta and Philadelphia. The latter, of course, was Rock’s hometown.

In short, these sources are suggesting that law enforcement is exploring the possibility of Rock’s killing having been a more intentional and planned action rather than a spur-of-the-moment fatal robbery. As previously reported, the 30-year-old artist was robbed and killed at a Roscoe’s House of Chicken ’N Waffles location in Los Angeles on Sept. 12.

As investigators continue to seek information on the getaway as part of an effort to identify possible suspects in the shooting, per the new report, chatter surrounding baselessly theorized involvement from Rock’s girlfriend has been shut down by police sources. Rock’s girlfriend, Stephanie, had been reported to have tagged her and Rock’s location on the day of the shooting.
