People who keep their relationship private have something to hide – Waje

Nigerian singer and songwriter Waje hs asserted that people who like to keep a relationship private always have something they are hiding.

Waje’s comment follows her own dating experience with a man who appeared mature and charming but later showed signs of manipulation and emotional distance.

During a conversation on The Honest Bunch Podcast monitored by MyNewsGh, Waje recounted a day her ex-partner refused to pick up her calls on her birthday and when they finally spoke, his justification shocked her.

“He told me he was praying about us,” she said with a sigh. “Then later, he said he didn’t appreciate the fact that I spoke to my friend about our relationship. He claimed he’s the kind of person who likes to keep his relationships private.”

Waje said this behavior was more than just privacy, it was isolation.

“I think when people do that, they isolate you from your friends because they don’t want you to find out the truth about what they’re hiding,” she added. “Everything he told me about himself was a lie.”

The “I Wish” hitmaker noted that the relationship eventually ended “a natural death,” admitting that distance, secrecy, and manipulation eroded the bond.

Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage opened up about her past relationship with a fellow celebrity who cheated on her and treated her with disdain.

According to Tiwa Savage who spilled the beans on Joe Budden’s podcast Show,  she was also discouraged from making the relationship public because her ex boyfriend claimed it was necessary to avoid suspicion of their romantic affair.

“It’s disrespectful. I’m a public figure, and he is as well. He did this thing where he is like. I don’t want us to go public; I don’t want people to know. So, when we go out, I might be talking to other people, but I’m just doing it, so people don’t suspect, “she shared.

Revealing more details about the bizarre experience, Tiwa stated that his ex, whose name she did not disclose on the show, cheated on her with other women, and she was made to be calm and quiet about it.

“We might be in the same event and he would be with other people, talking and touching people, and he looks over at me and is like… ‘I’m just doing it so…I couldn’t say anything. And it was happening right in front of me,” she said.

The Nigerian Afrobeats queen shared her expectations regarding the caliber of man she is looking forward to settling down with.

According to her, the man expecting ther to accept his proposal should not be accompanied by the baby mama drama.

“I am still looking for someone’s son and I’d prefer someone that has a private plane and doesn’t have baby mama dramas,” she confidently said in a video sighted by The Independent Ghana on X.

Weeks ago, she opened up about her challenges before rising to fame in the music industry.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast, Tiwa revealed that her sense of fashion received massive criticism, preventing her from performing at shows.

“I was really hurt. I would go to shows and wait backstage, and they wouldn’t call me because maybe the governor’s wife had said I couldn’t come up. Or they’d say.

“Make sure you don’t wear any of those skimpy dresses.’ I’m not making this up.”My fashion sense attracted criticism. Then, I ran back to L.A.,” Tiwa said.

The backlash, she said, forced her to relocate to United States of America, Los Angeles.

According to her, it took the intervention of her longtime manager, Bizzle, to get her back to Nigeria.

Despite her return, Tiwa said she faced rejection from all the top record labels back then.

“I’ve told the story where I went to all the labels and they all said no—Storm Records, Mo’Hits, Banky W’s EME, everyone,” she noted.

Tiwa added that Bizzle motivated, encouraged, or supported her at a crucial time.

“I remember Bizzle called me and told me that ladies were loving me, so I came back to Nigeria,” she stated.

Initially drawn to acting as her first love, Tiwa disclosed that it was a man in the music industry who caught her attention and influenced her career choice.

She shared that her crush’s close association with musicians led her to abandon acting and pursue a career in music instead.

“I’ve always wanted to do acting. Acting was one of my first loves before music. I got into music because I had a crush on a guy, and he was always around musicians, so I said, ‘yeah, forget acting and just go into music,’” Tiwa revealed.

Last year, she revealed a surprising view on relationships, saying cheating wouldn’t end things for her.

During an appearance on the Receipts Podcast on Spotify, the “African Bad Gyal” shared that every partner she has been with has cheated on her.

Despite this, Tiwa said she has forgiven them all and moved past the pain they caused.

“I’ve been cheated on before. I found out and forgave every time. Every man I’ve ever been with has cheated, and I’ve never left them because of it. I’ve left for other reasons, but not because they cheated. Cheating is not my hill,” Tiwa revealed.

The singer also argued that cheating has long been part of societal dynamics, stating, “I know you say it’s bad that we’ve gotten to a point where cheating isn’t a deal-breaker. But I feel like we’ve always been here—even back in the day, even going back to the Bible and history.”

Tiwa Savage explained that while she can overlook cheating, she won’t accept dishonesty, disrespect, abuse, or theft in a relationship.

She also spoke about her personal experiences, admitting she has never had an orgasm and hasn’t tried using sex toys, even though she’s open to exploring new things.

Her candid comments have sparked conversations online, with some applauding her honesty and others debating her views on love and loyalty.

She also shared a playful story of how she tried to make advances at American actor and activist Kendrick Sampson from of ‘Insecure’ fame.

During a candid interview on ‘The Receipts Podcast,’ the ‘All Over’ hitzmaker talked about trying to spark a romantic connection with actor Kendrick Sampson during the filming of her Forgiveness music video.

Initially unaware of his fame from Insecure, Tiwa became intrigued by Sampson’s charm and good looks. She admitted to making some subtle advances, though they were unsuccessful in forming a romantic bond.

“When he came on set, my makeup and hair stylist was like, ‘That’s the guy from Insecure,’ and I was like, ‘Okay?’ And he was just lovely. Like, really, really sweet,” Tiwa recounted.

After watching Insecure following the video shoot, Tiwa found herself even more intrigued and decided to reach out to Kendrick while she was still in Los Angeles.

Despite her subtle efforts to express interest, Tiwa humorously admitted that her attempts didn’t land.

“I tried to paint and throw signs—but nothing. A little bit of me died,” she joked. “I want to unfollow him [laughs]. I’m angry [laughs].”

Tiwa concluded by praising Kendrick as “lovely” and “so cute,” despite her playful frustration over the unreciprocated signals.

“If you can cope with a woman; you can run a local government” – Pete Edochie

Celebrated actor Pete Edochie, who recently turned 77, delivered a powerful message emphasizing the significance of women in society.

Edochie asserts that a man’s ability to manage and understand women qualifies him for leadership, even suggesting that such a man could effectively govern a country.

He highlighted the essential role women play in transforming a mere house into a nurturing home, emphasising their strength lies within their words.

“My 77th birthday coincided with the celebration of the International Women’s Day. So I want to use this opportunity to congratulate our women. A house is a house but converted to a home only when a woman gets into it. The strength of a woman is in her tongue.

“If a woman provokes you and you strike her, you do not qualify to be called a man. But if you can cope with a woman, you can run a local government, you can run a country. I want to tell you that.

In the midst of her three-week social media spotlight, Mary, the former house help to Kuami Eugene, addresses accusations of ingratitude and offers insights into a specific incident related to her birthday celebration.

Earlier, Mary faced criticism for disclosing her monthly salary of 400-600 cedis while working for the musician.

The musician suggested she pose in front of it for a photo to be shared on her actual birthday.

Mary emphasized that she simply followed her boss’s instructions and posed for the pictures, later shared by Kuami Eugene to wish her a happy birthday.

Why I spent my birthday with Chief Imam – Stella Aba Steel reveals

Ghanaian musician Stella Aba Seal spent her recent birthday by visiting the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu for prayers.

Some believers were against the move but she has come out to defend her actions.

Stella in an interview with blogger Zionfelix explained why she settled on an Islamic leader to bless her with long life.

“Is there something wrong with celebrating my birthday with National Chief Imam?… I personally chose him because he’s the oldest spiritual man in Ghana and, I want to live long. We have other religious leaders but they are all young. In their 60s and 70s and I wanted someone who is old and has lived long enough on earth…someone who has seen it all, that was who I wanted to celebrate my birthday with. “I said to myself that I want this man to pray for me. He asked me what I want and I told him long life. I want to live long on this earth and I also asked for wisdom. These are the two things I asked because all other things are by-products,” she said.

Stella Aba Seal lamented how religion, which she described as man-made has divided and brought enmity among the human population.

According to the gospel singer who identifies as a Christian, she is more spiritual than religious adding that God is not religious.

She explained: “I am glad that I did and I don’t regret it…I was so touched by his accessibility. It is so unfortunate how you’ll have to struggle just to see some of these people. You’ll be made to book an appointment and for 2 months you’ll still be in waiting but the Chief Imam, he is accessible. I will love to say that we are first Ghanaians and the Bible makes us understand that we are all descendants of Abraham…I gear towards spirituality because God is not religious. He does not belong to any religion, He created everything on earth. Religion is man-made and it is good.”

  • In the midst of a war crisis, Putin prays for his health as he turns 70

On Friday, President Vladimir Putin celebrated his 70th birthday with the adoring greetings of his subordinates and a request from Orthodox Patriarch Kirill for everyone to pray for the well-being of the most powerful man in Russia since Josef Stalin.

Putin is facing the biggest challenge of his rule after the invasion of Ukraine triggered the gravest confrontation with the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. His army there is reeling from a series of defeats in the past month.

Officials hailed Putin as the saviour of modern Russia while the patriarch of Moscow and all of Russia implored the country to say two days of special prayers so that God grants Putin “health and longevity”.

“We pray to you, our Lord God, for the head of the Russian state, Vladimir Vladimirovich, and ask you to give him your rich mercy and generosity, grant him health and longevity, and deliver him from all the resistances of visible and invisible enemies, confirm him in wisdom and spiritual strength, for all, Lord hear and have mercy,” Kirill said.

Putin, who promised to end the chaos which gripped Russia after the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union, is facing the most serious military crisis any Kremlin chief has faced for at least a generation since the Soviet-Afghan war of 1979-89.

Opponents such as jailed opposition leader Alexey Navalny say that Putin has led Russia down a dead end towards ruin, building a brittle system of incompetent sycophants that will ultimately collapse and bequeath chaos.

Supporters say Putin saved Russia from destruction by an arrogant and aggressive West.

“Today, our national leader, one of the most influential and outstanding personalities of our time, the number one patriot in the world, president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, turns 70 years old,” Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said.

“Putin has changed the global position of Russia and forced the world to reckon with the position of our great state.”

More than seven months into the invasion, Russia has suffered huge losses in men and equipment and been beaten back on several fronts within the past month as Putin’s army has lurched from one humiliation to the next.

Putin has resorted to proclaiming the annexation of territories only partly under Russian control – and whose borders the Kremlin has said are yet to be defined – and threatening to defend them with nuclear weapons.

A partial mobilisation declared by the president on September 21 has unfolded so chaotically that even Putin has been forced to admit mistakes and order changes. Hundreds of thousands of men have fled abroad to avoid being called up.

Even normally loyal Kremlin allies have denounced the failings of the military – though they have stopped short, so far, of criticising the president.

Putin finds himself confronted with a resurgent, united, and expanding NATO despite his insistence that the “special operation” in Ukraine was aimed at enforcing Russian “red lines” and preventing the alliance from moving closer to Russia’s borders.

Signs of disquiet have emerged from China and India, on which Russia is increasingly reliant as geopolitical and economic partners in the wake of successive waves of Western sanctions.

Reflecting on Putin’s birthday, former Kremlin speechwriter Abbas Gallyamov said: “On an anniversary, it’s customary, to sum up, results, but the results are so deplorable that it would be better not to draw too much attention to the anniversary.”

    History lessons

Putin has dominated Russia for nearly 23 years since being handpicked by President Boris Yeltsin as his preferred successor in a surprise announcement on New Year’s Eve 1999.

Changes adopted to the constitution in 2020 paved the way for him to rule potentially until 2036, and there is no obvious frontrunner to succeed him.

He maintains a full schedule of meetings and public events and invariably appears in control of his brief, holding forth at length in video conferences on topics ranging from energy to education. The Kremlin has denied recurrent speculation about alleged health problems.

As he has grown older, Putin has appeared increasingly preoccupied with his legacy. In June he compared his actions in Ukraine with the campaigns of Tsar Peter the Great, suggesting both of them were engaged in historic quests to win back Russian lands.

Putin has become increasingly fond of quoting Russian philosopher Ivan Ilyin, who argued that Russia had an exceptional mystical and holy path to follow that would ultimately restore order to an imperfect world.

In a televised encounter with teachers this week, Putin showed a keen interest in another episode from history – an 18th-century peasant revolt against Empress Catherine the Great – that he blamed on “the weakness of central authority in the country”.

From the man who has dominated Russia for more than two decades, it sounded as though a lesson had been taken to heart: faced with the possibility of rebellion, the ruler needs to be both strong and vigilant.

The Belarus president said that “he cherishes open and trusting relations with the Russian President and an equal and fruitful dialogue, which serves to strengthen the allied Belarusian-Russian ties.”

“Recently, this has clearly manifested in the closer integration of our countries. I am convinced that together Minsk and Moscow will adequately respond to global challenges and reach a new level of strategic partnership.

“I wholeheartedly wish you, dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, excellent health, constructive accomplishments for the benefit of the Russian state and long years in a circle of loving family and reliable friends,” the message read.
