New investigation into soldier’s death in Cyprus crash

A car driven by an American serviceman hit and killed a British soldier in Cyprus. An investigation into the soldier’s death will begin soon.

Colour Sgt Anthony Oxley was working away from home in June 2016 when he was in a car accident at the RAF Akrotiri base.

The man, who was 40 years old and lived near Wakefield, was hit by a vehicle while riding a motorcycle.

A meeting to plan for an investigation before a formal inquiry happened in Cyprus in June.

    ‘Unanswered questions’

The newest investigation is the second one in less than two years, both done by the government of Cyprus.

The first event was postponed last year because Sally, the wife of Colour Sgt Oxley, received a document with statements from witnesses just one hour before the meeting was supposed to begin.

In 2018, a UK investigation concluded that he died based on the information available, without pointing to a specific cause.

They discovered that he had died because his head was hurt badly in the accident.

Mrs Oxley, who lives close to Barnsley, has requested for a new investigation to take place in the UK.

The woman, who is 45 years old, said she still has a lot of questions without answers. She felt that the investigation in 2018 was not thorough enough.

Sally Oxley says she still has a lot of things she doesn’t understand about her husband’s passing.

In April, her lawyers asked the attorney general for England and Wales if they could go to the High Court and request a new investigation.

KRW Law, who is representing Mrs. Oxley, stated that the US Air Force led the investigation into the crash and very little information was shared with the public, even though the incident occurred in British territory.

Mrs Oxley reported that she was told by a US general during a meeting that the US serviceman who caused the accident would not be held responsible and that there would be no further action taken.

Christopher Stanley, a lawyer from KRW Law, mentioned that there were differences in the evidence provided by witnesses. He believes that a new investigation should be conducted for the sake of justice.

Mrs Oxley said that she understands that the result will never be different, but she feels that her husband’s 21 years of service should not be summed up as dying from blunt force. “It is not satisfactory. ”

British soldier in Ukraine allegedly ‘tortured and killed by another Brit’

A British ex-soldier, who passed away after choosing to fight for Ukraine, might have been subjected to torture and killed by another British fighter.

Jordan Chadwick, a 31-year-old man from Burnley, Lancashire, went to the war-torn country in October 2022 to help bring freedom, according to his family.

The ex-Scots Guard was part of a group called the International Legion. This group consisted of many foreign fighters who supported the Ukrainian armed forces.

Chadwick’s body was discovered in water near Kramatorsk, with his hands tied behind his back. This happened in June, near Bakhmut in the northwest.

According to The Sun, Chadwick’s fellow British fighter allegedly waterboarded him, as claimed by his comrades.

Before an official investigation into Chadwick’s death in February, Ukrainian investigators have discovered that the water in his lungs does not match the location where his body was found.
The State Bureau of Investigation in Ukraine is in charge of investigating cases involving police, soldiers, and high-ranking officials.

The DBR agency and the British Embassy in Kyiv have not made any comments about the investigation.

Last week, The Telegraph mentioned that Chadwick worked with a secretive team called Team 50/50. This team was a part of the Legion’s military intelligence division, known as the Legionnaires Special Service Group (LSSG).

Chadwick might have been shot during a small argument or killed by mistake during a ritual, as mentioned in the newspaper based on reports.

It happened after another British person named Daniel Burke, who volunteered to fight with Ukraine, was found dead.

The last time Burke, a person from Manchester who started his own group of volunteers from other countries called the Dark Angels, was in touch was in August. He was in a place called Zaporizhzhia, which is an important center for energy.
His family, who were really worried, told the authorities, which made them start looking for him for a few weeks. The search ended when they found a dead body.

On Saturday, the police in Greater Manchester said they are working with the police in Ukraine to confirm the identity of the body.

The Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation has been asked to give their opinion.

Terror suspect on the lam after escaping London jail

Officials have said that they are actively searching for a British soldier who is waiting for his trial on terror charges. The soldier managed to escape from a prison in London on Wednesday by disguising himself as a chef.

Daniel Abed Khalife, who is 21 years old, disappeared from Wandsworth prison in southwest London just before 8 in the morning. The time of the specific area. He was waiting to go to court for crimes related to terrorism and breaking the Official Secrets Act.

Khalife is currently a member of the British army. According to the PA Media news agency, he is being accused of putting fake bombs at a military base.

The bold and unusual escape caused a big search for the person and made flights late and security checks stricter at ports in Britain.

Khalife was wearing a chef’s outfit which included red and white pants, a white shirt, and brown shoes, according to Counter Terrorism Commander Dominic Murphy, who spoke to reporters outside Scotland Yard in London on Wednesday.

According to the news agency PA, he managed to escape by holding onto a delivery van. When he was asked about the reports, Murphy said that it was something the prison service had to respond to.

The police are asking the British public for help in finding something.

Police said he is thin, with short brown hair, and he stands at about 6 feet and 2 inches tall.

Murphy mentioned that the investigation is mainly focused on London right now. However, we have also sent notifications to every police department in the country.

“We are working closely with colleagues at the border to understand if he could cause problems if he leaves the country. Right now, it’s like a big search across the whole country involving every police force that has information that could help us. ” Murphy explained

When asked if he thinks the man will run away from the country, Murphy said he can’t say for sure right now. We are open to considering wherever he might go, and I think that’s why it’s important for the public to be interested. He is currently not caught in the UK, and although we are concentrating on London, he has connections to other areas like the northwest of the country. So, we need to collaborate with everyone to try to locate him.

The police said what Khalife did wrong in January. They accused him of trying to get information that could help someone plan a terrorist act in August 2021.

Another accusation claims that he placed something with the intention of making someone believe that it could explode or catch fire and cause harm to people or things.

On Wednesday, Murphy said that he thinks Khalife is not very likely to harm the public, but he still advised people not to approach him.

British airports and ports are having problems after police warned them about Khalife’s escape.

Manchester Airport had delays of around half an hour on Wednesday afternoon because they started doing more security checks.

Right now, there are extra checks on cars leaving the Port of Dover and other entry points in the UK because of a police issue. This was shared by Port of Dover Travel on X, which used to be called Twitter.

“This is causing delays at the port right now. ”

Escaping from prisons in the UK hardly ever happens. According to data from the British government, there was only one person who escaped from a place in England and Wales in the year 2021-22. Before that year, there were no escapes, and only a few in the years before that.

Wandsworth is a type of prison called Category B. It is the second-highest level of security out of four levels. This is one of the biggest prisons in Britain and it holds over 1,600 prisoners.
