  • Murdered US-based Ghanaian singer to be buried December 3

    On Saturday, December 3, 2022, Britney Boateng, a Ghanaian singer living in the United States of America who was fatally murdered by her sister-in-law, will be laid to rest.

    The requiem ceremony will be place at the Ebenezer United Methodist Columbus Ohio – 3330 Cleveland Ave, Columbus, OH 43224 – from 9:30am to 11am, according to an obituary seen by GhanaWeb.

    At Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Britney Boateng’s mortal remains will be buried.

    It would be recalled that on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, it was reported that Britney Boateng was shot dead by her sister-in-law, Tyona Dodson after an argument.

    Information gathered by GhanaWeb from multiple international online platforms indicated that the incident, which took place in East Columbus on Friday, November 18, 2022, ended the life of 22-year-old Britney Boateng.

    She was pronounced dead at 1:12 a.m., the Columbus Division of Police said.

    A report by 10tv.com said that “officers were called to the 400 block of South Weyant Avenue, just north of East Main Street, around 1 a.m. Police found Britney Boateng with a gunshot wound, who was pronounced dead at 1:12 a.m.”

    The police have since charged Tyona Dodson with murder.

    The father of Ghanaian-American gospel musician, Britney Boateng, Ernest Boateng, hasclarified circumstances that led to the death of her daughter.

    According to him, his daughter was not shot by her sister-in-law or a rival, as has been speculated.

    According to him, Britney Boateng was shot by her boyfriend’s aunt, who is now in the custody of the police.

    In an interview with US-based Ghanaian journalist Frank Ntiamoah Williams, which was monitored by GhanaWeb, Ernest Boateng said that people should stop spreading rumours about the circumstances surrounding the death of his daughter.

    He urged all well-meaning Ghanaians and other nationals to wait for the final investigations of the police.

    “They (the police) said the suspect was the boyfriend’s auntie. It is alleged to be the boyfriend’s auntie,” he said.

    Ernest Boateng, who was speaking for the first time after the death of his daughter, said that he has been traumatised by her death.

    “When l was told about her murder, l sat here in my chairs for some time to be able to understand and break down what l have been told.

    “For 3 days straight, l have not had a good sleep. All l see is Britney. I know how long it will take to forget this pain in my heart,” he said.

  • US-based Ghanaian musician shot dead in Colombus

    A Ghanaian musician based in the United States, Britney Boateng, was shot dead on Monday, November 21.

    This reportedly ensued during a heated altercation between Britney, 22, and 41-year-old Tyona Dodson in the East Side, Colombus.

    Tyona is believed to be Britney’s sister-in-law.

    According to Colombus Division police, the shooting occurred early in the morning.

    The police say they were called to the residence at about 1 am where they found Britney with a gunshot wound.

    The musician was subsequently pronounced dead moments later.

    Tyona Dodson has been charged with murder and is currently in police custody.

    She is scheduled to make her first court appearance this morning.

    Meanwhile, Britney’s friends and close relations have shared their consolation on social media.
