Britney Spears extends olive branch to Justin Timberlake amid autobiography controversy

American singer Britney Spears has officially apologized to her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake for controversial claims made in her autobiography, “The Woman in Me.

Spears detailed Timberlake urging her to undergo an abortion, expressing his reluctance to embrace fatherhood, and alleging infidelity with “another celebrity.”

However, on Monday, the pop sensation took to Instagram, sharing a clip of Timberlake singing alongside Jimmy Fallon on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

In a conciliatory message accompanying the post, Spears asserted, “I want to apologise for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about, I am deeply sorry.”

She further expressed admiration for Timberlake’s latest song, “Selfish,” and humorously pondered why seeing Timberlake and Fallon together always brought laughter.

The saga continues, as fans engage in a chart battle between Spears’ 2011 track, also titled “Selfish,” and Timberlake’s recent single, according to reports from US media.

The former couple, who dated from 1999 to 2002, faced a tumultuous period when Spears, pregnant at the time, grappled with the decision of whether to have an abortion.

The autobiography, released in October 2023, shed light on the conflicting perspectives, with Spears noting, “If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it,” while Timberlake was resolute in not wanting to become a father.

The allegations triggered a social media backlash, prompting Timberlake to temporarily disable comments on his Instagram.

Although he has not issued a public response to this recent development, in 2021, he acknowledged falling short in past moments and benefiting from a system that condoned misogyny and racism.

In an Instagram post, Timberlake specifically apologised to both Britney Spears and Janet Jackson.

Spears, who has been married three times and shares two children with her second husband, Kevin Federline, also delved into her controversial conservatorship in her autobiography.
Describing herself as a “child robot,” she recounted her father’s assertion of legal control over her personal and professional affairs.

Despite recent rumours of a return to the studio, Spears declared last week that she would “never return to the music industry.”

The ongoing saga between Spears and Timberlake continues to captivate fans and media alike, with this unexpected apology adding a new twist to their complex relationship.

  • Britney Spears’ father loses a leg due to infection

Britney Spears’ father loses a leg due to infection

Jamie Spears, father of Britney Spears, has undergone a leg amputation, as confirmed by Us Weekly.

Reports indicate that the surgery occurred last month after Jamie, 71, was hospitalized in October due to an infection.

This health development follows Jamie’s previous health challenges in 2019, where he underwent emergency surgeries for a ruptured colon.

These recent health issues coincide with the ongoing estrangement between Jamie and Britney, 42.

The details of their strained relationship were revealed by the “Toxic” singer in her memoir, The Woman in Me, released in October.

“The conservatorship stripped me of my womanhood, made me into a child. I became more of an entity than a person onstage. I had always felt music in my bones and my blood; they stole that from me,” Britney wrote of her 13-year conservatorship, which ended in November 2021. (Jamie served as the conservator of Britney’s estate from 2008 until September 2021.)

In other revelations within the tell-all, Britney asserted that Jamie engaged in a physical altercation with her then-13-year-old son, Sean Preston, during an argument in August 2019.

“My son went to lock himself in a bedroom to end the fight, and my dad broke down the door and shook him,” wrote Britney, who shares Sean Preston, now 18, and son Jayden, 17, with ex-husband Kevin Federline. “Kevin filed a police report, and my dad was barred from seeing the kids.”

At that time, an exclusive source informed Us that Kevin Federline’s request for a restraining order was granted without opposition from Jamie Spears. The insider further disclosed that Jamie was prohibited from visiting his grandsons for a period of three years.

Despite the strained relationship between Jamie and Britney, there remains a possibility of reconciliation between the pop star and her mother, Lynne Spears.

  • Worry as Britney Spears is spotted dancing with knives

In addition to creating club-friendly music and tracks that are sure to get fans dancing and grooving to the beat, Britney Spears is also recognized for sharing various videos across the internet.

Frequently, the pop star would be seen wearing revealing outfits, showcasing her dance moves in front of the camera, all to be shared with her vast online following.

However, a recent video of hers raised alarm as she seemed to be dancing while holding two knives, posing a significant safety risk.

On her official Instagram account, the “Gimme More” songstress posted a video where she can be seen donning a crop top and swimsuit bottoms, energetically dancing in her living room.

In the backdrop, her dogs were observed as spectators.

However, what set this clip apart was her holding two knives in each hand while spinning and dancing to the music.

“I started playing in the kitchen with knives today,” she wrote in the caption.

She later assured her followers that the knives were not real and it appears that she did it for Halloween.

Britney Spears Fans Concerned Over Her Well-Being
Although the comment section for her post had been turned off, fans still expressed their concern on social media.

“she almost hurt herself and her dogs. she needs help,” one wrote.

“It looks like Britney Spears might have cut herself during her whole knife routine yesterday. She appears to have Cuts on her thigh, and a bandage cover a cut wrist,” another one wrote.

“She makes me sad sometimes. 🙁 ” one posted.

“I don’t really know anything about Britney Spears but as long as she doesn’t actually drop a knife and hurt one of those dogs, I’m fine with this. It’s the old running with scissors thing,” one wrote.

The recent development follows rumors circulating online about Spears’ team preventing her from participating in sit-down interviews to promote her upcoming book.

According to sources reported by Page Six, one of the primary reasons for their reluctance was her Instagram videos.

Various television networks, including “60 Minutes,” have been actively pursuing an interview with Spears, but it appears that this prospect won’t materialize in the near future.

However, another insider claimed that it’s all on the singer if she wanted to be interviewed or not, as they noted, “She’s a free woman. She’ll decide. It’s her choice.”

  • Britney Spears and her husband Sam Asghari divorce after 14 months of marriage

Britney Spears and her husband Sam Asghari divorce after 14 months of marriage

After 14 months of marriage, pop star Sam Asghari and Britney Spears have divorced.

A divorce petition filed late on Wednesday, seen by BBC News, cites “irreconcilable differences” between Asghari, 29, and Spears, 41.

In September 2021, the couple announced their engagement. In June 2022, they tied the knot in a modest but celebrity-studded ceremony.

However, stories about their marital problems have been widely reported in US tabloids this year.

Spears’ and Asghari’s representatives have not yet provided any comments.

In a Wednesday night post to her 42 million Instagram followers, the musician chose to write that she was “buying a horse soon” rather than addressing the divorce.

In his petition for the dissolution of his marriage, Asghari requests that Spears cover his spousal support payments as well as his legal costs.

The Iranian-American actor, model and fitness trainer met Spears while she was shooting the video for her song, Slumber Party, in 2016.

He played a key role during her conservatorship fight with father Jamie, sporting a Free Britney T-shirt on Instagram before a crucial court hearing.

Their wedding, at the superstar’s home in Thousand Oaks, California last year, was an intimate and lavish affair attended by celebrities including Paris Hilton, Madonna and Drew Barrymore.

The two had recently been seen without their wedding rings in public.

The separation comes as Spears prepares to publish her memoir – The Woman in Me – this October.

It marks the end of her third marriage.

  • Millie Bobby Brown would love to play Britney Spears and ‘tell her story in the right way’

One of Millie Bobby Brown’s dream roles is Britney Spears.

During an appearance on the Drew Barrymore Show, Brown was asked to share “something on your bucket list as a producer and a filmmaker.” After expressing her desire to play a “real person” onscreen, the 18-year-old Enola Holmes 2 star mentioned Spears, 40.

“I think her story, first of all, resonates with me,” Brown told Barrymore. “Just growing up in the public eye, watching her videos, watching interviews of her when she was younger. I mean, same thing with you, it’s like I see the scramble for words, and I don’t know her, but when I look at pictures of her, I feel like I could tell her story in the right way—and hers only.”

Prior to releasing her debut album, 1999’s …Baby One More Time, at 17 years old, Britney joined the main cast of Disney’s The Mickey Mouse Club at 11. Brown, of course, was cast to play Eleven in Netflix’s Stranger Things in 2016, when she was just 12.

Earlier this month, Brown spoke with Deadline about the difficulty of growing past child stardom.

“I think the industry can easily have its faults and its great accomplishments,” Brown said. “This is one of them. Yes, of course, I’ve been undermined in the past, but we don’t focus on those things. We focus on the positives, and I have not been undermined in this situation. I was given an opportunity to be a female lead in a film. And that is a step forward.”

See Drew Barrymore chat with Millie Bobby Brown—who deemed it the “best interview I’ve ever, ever done”—up top.

  • Britney Spears’ ex-husband Jason Alexander convicted over crashing wedding

Britney Spears‘ first husband has been convicted of trespassing and battery after turning up unannounced at the US singer’s wedding in June.

Jason Alexander, 40, accepted the charges. A judge sentenced him to 64 days – the time he has already served.

He was tackled by security after gate-crashing the wedding between Ms Spears and her long-time partner, Sam Asghari.

Alexander was married to the pop star, a childhood friend, in 2004. But the union was annulled after 55 hours.

Spears, 40, and Asghari, 28, tied the knot in a private ceremony at the singer’s home in Ventura County on 9 June.

But preparations were disrupted by Mr Alexander’s arrival. Shortly beforehand he had posted an Instagram Live story in which he said he was there to “crash” the wedding.

His video showed him walking through Spears’ home looking for her, and then going into a marquee where the finishing touches were being put to a large display of roses.

He claimed Spears had invited him, saying: “She’s my first wife, my only wife.” Alexander was arrested and taken to a local jail.

“He was able to find his way onto the property and was confronted by security,” a police spokesman said at the time.

“An altercation occurred with the security officers and that’s where the battery occurred… and during the altercation an item was broken, so that’s where the vandalism comes into play.”

The ceremony went ahead despite the disturbance, attended by stars including Madonna, Paris Hilton,Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Ansel Elgort and will.i.am.

In November, the singer was released from a controversial 13-year legal guardianship, under which her father Jamie controlled many aspects of her life.

Her father, mother and sister were reportedly not at the wedding after relations broke down over the arrangement, and Spears’ legal battle to end it.

Spears met her new husband, a personal trainer, in 2016 on the set of her music video for the song Slumber Party. She was previously married to dancer Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007.
