    5-year-old boy dies after jumping down harbour wall

    A five-year-old youngster has perished in Cornwall after falling from a harbour wall.

    On Saturday morning (June 24), emergency services were contacted in response to reports that a 5-year-old kid had fallen in Padstow.

    Local boy was brought to Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro in Treliske. Later, he was sent to Bristol Hospital for treatment, where he later passed dead.

    ‘Emergency services were alerted at around 11.45 on Saturday, June 24, following reports of a child having fallen from the harbour wall in Padstow,’ a Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said.

    ‘The child, who is a 5-year-old local boy, was taken to Treliske by Air Ambulance and later transferred to Bristol Hospital for treatment.

    ‘He sadly passed away whilst in hospital with his parents present.  

    ‘Currently, police are treating this death as a tragic accident.

    ‘Police continue to undertake enquiries on behalf of the coroner.

    ‘Anyone with further information can contact the police quoting log number 435 24 June.

    ‘Our thoughts are with family and loved ones of the child during this difficult time.’

    16-year-old boy taken into custody after injuring two students at a private school

    After two students suffered numerous significant injuries at a private school, a 16-year-old boy was detained.

    At around one in the morning on Friday, Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the Blundell’s School campus in Tiverton, Devon, in response to complaints of a violent assault.

    According to the police, three people—including two students—were assaulted and suffered “multiple serious injuries.”

    They were brought to a hospital for medical attention.

    A 16-year-old boy from Tiverton has been arrested on suspicion of three counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.

    Superintendent Antony Hart, local policing commander said: ‘This is a very traumatic incident for those involved and the wider school community and we will continue to work closely with the school, providing support to those involved.

    ‘At this time it is understood that all parties involved are linked to the school. I am keen to reassure the community that there is no wider risk, and we are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter.

    ‘Throughout the day we will continue with searches and enquiries in the vicinity of the school while we are in the early stage of our investigation.’

    Following a horrific event on a Devon farm, a youngster has died.

    The child, who was thought to be under two years old, passed away as a result of the event on Saturday.

    Just before 8 a.m. on Saturday, police were called to a farm in Buckland Brewer, close to Bideford, but the kid had already passed away.

    The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), according to a spokeswoman, “is aware of this incident and supporting Devon and Cornwall Police.”

    ‘Our thoughts are very much with the family at this time.’

    The child’s next of kin has been informed and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

    A local farmer described the incident as a ‘dreadful tragedy in the farmyard’.

    He added: ‘Please everyone be aware and careful on your individual farms at this time of trying to get maize and silage done and farming being under extreme pressure.’

    A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called to reports of a collision involving a tractor and a young child on a farm in the Buckland Brewer area at around 7.55am on Saturday 13 May.

    ‘Emergency services attended. A child under two from the Holsworthy area was pronounced deceased at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed. The Health and Safety Executive has been notified.

    ‘This death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is to be prepared for the coroner.’

    A Health and Safety Executive spokesperson said: ‘We are aware of this incident and supporting Devon and Cornwall Police. Our thoughts are very much with the family at this time.’
