Man stabbed his grandma to death in Cornwalls

A man has been sent to prison for forcefully entering his grandmother’s house and fatally stabbing her while she was sleeping in bed.

Alison Stevenson, who is 62 years old, always tried to help Cameron Dancey-Stevenson with his challenges and take care of him. This was stated in a trial.

But the 27-year-old killed his own grandparent at her house in Cornwall in May 2021 in a very violent way.

In simpler terms, the court learned that Alison still had feelings of love for her grandson, even though he had hurt her before and was given a legal order to stay away from her.

Even though Dancey-Stevenson tried her best to help him, she still had a strong anger about the command and ended up doing a deadly and chaotic knife attack.

His family says they will never forgive him for the attack. He was found guilty at Exeter Crown Court on Tuesday. Today, he was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 18 years.

On May 25, 2021, he entered Ms Stevenson’s house in Helston by breaking a window. He took a knife from the kitchen and began stabbing her in the neck while she slept in bed.

After killing her, Dancey-Stevenson spent a long time at the house trying to remove any evidence. Later, he falsely accused someone else of committing the murder.

In court, Marina Stevenson, the victim’s daughter, said her mother was kind and loving. She also stated that her mother did everything possible to help her grandson.

Speaking on behalf of the family, she told Dancey-Stevenson: ‘That word, grandson, means someone who is part of our family, related by blood. ‘ You are not her grandson anymore – you are the person who killed her.

Marina said that the family had a hard time accepting that they lost a very loving woman to a very cruel act.

She said, “It was even more devastating because it was you, Cameron, her beloved grandson. ”

‘She did everything she could to assist you. ‘ She was always scared of you because she was afraid of what you would do when you didn’t get what you wanted.

Actually, you felt like your whole family was not on your side – you never noticed everything they did for you. You only thought about yourself and what you would gain from it.

Marina explained that her mother was very frightened in her final moments as she tried to protect herself from her grandson. She believes her mother died because of his actions.

Her sister, who is the mother of the person being accused, has been unable to sleep since the attack and has been constantly seeing disturbing images in her mind.

Marina said that she does not understand how the child she gave birth to, who was always loved and cared for, could do such a terrible thing.

I want you to receive the help you need for your mental health. I believe no one can provide more help than Alison did.

You had the same opportunities in life as everyone else, but you always wanted more from your mother and grandmother.

As a family, we will never forget what you did, and we cannot find it in our hearts to forgive you. You are a self-centered person who always knew what you were doing.

Marina said that her mom, Alison, was a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, niece, cousin, and grandmother. She really enjoyed cooking, taking care of her garden, and above all, spending time with her family.

Alison would always go out of her way to help anyone and was very willing to assist. Everyone who knew her speaks highly of her.

Judge Simon Carr said that Alison is the type of person who goes out of her way to help others.

He said: ‘There was obvious proof that you were mad at her and held her responsible for your difficult situation. ‘ You believed she caused your problems, but that is not true at all. She did everything she could to assist and encourage you.

Even though Dancey-Stevenson had hurt her, the judge said that she never stopped caring and being concerned about him.

Sometimes, when you didn’t have a place to live, she would let you stay with her, but it didn’t happen very often. She understood that what she was doing was against the rules of the restraining order, but she couldn’t just watch and do nothing because she was a very kind person.

The judge told Dancey Stevenson that his grandmother is having a hard time dealing with his behavior. She had to tell him to stay away from her house for her own safety.

Dancey-Stevenson is a patient at Langdon Hospital in Dawlish. He was told that he would only be released on parole after serving the minimum term if he is no longer considered a threat to the public.

A man, who is 51 years old, confessed to killing his own parents by stabbing them. This happened earlier this year.

5 year old boy drowns in a holiday park in Cornwall

A five-year-old youngster has passed away at a well-known beach vacation spot in Cornwall.

On Monday, Robin Caliskan perished after having trouble in the pool at Atlantic Reach Newquay.

His father Cemal, 35, gave a heartfelt remembrance of his “very cute and clever” son and remarked that he “loved hugs.”

The Plymouth family had just been at the resort for an hour when Robin assisted them in setting up their tent before they all went swimming.

Before the tragic event when Robin abandoned him to join his mother Ferzane and little brother Renas in the baby pool, Cemal claimed that they had been taking photos together.

‘I want every parent to see this tale, this can’t happen again,’ he declared. We are in pain, and we don’t want any other parents to feel the same way.

“We just wanted to share this with other parents and other kids to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” they said.

It has been verified by Devon and Cornwall Police that they are looking into the incident and collaborating with Cornwall Council’s health and safety staff.

According to a spokeswoman, “Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding a child’s death at a Newquay vacation resort.”

A five-year-old youngster drowned in an Atlantic Reach Holiday Park swimming pool yesterday afternoon, the ambulance service reported to the police.

The boy is from the Plymouth region, and the coroner will receive a case that has been created. The death is not being investigated as suspiciously.

“Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police are conducting inquiries in relation to the circumstances surrounding this death,” according to representatives from Cornwall Council Health and Safety.

‘We do not feel it is appropriate to speak further at this time, other to say our thoughts are with the family at this time,’ an Atlantic Reach representative said.

‘Atlantic Reach is dedicated to helping our visitors, the local community, and the members of our team who provide prompt assistance.

We humbly request that everyone affected be given time and space at this upsetting period.

  • UK: Two police officers who had sex in police van cited for misconduct

UK: Two police officers who had sex in police van cited for misconduct

According to testimony during a misconduct tribunal, an on-duty cop had sex with an off-duty coworker in a marked police van.

Stephen Athawes and Daria Krolewicz were found guilty of gross misconduct at a hearing earlier in March.

Both former PCs had left their posts before the hearing, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

Supt Jo Arundale said “had the officers still been serving, they would have been dismissed without notice”.

    ‘Undermined trust’

Supt Arundale, the force’s head of professional standards, said: “On this occasion the behaviour of the officers fell below the standards expected within policing.

“Through their actions, the officers undermined the public’s trust and confidence in the police force and did not fulfil their duties and responsibilities.”

The hearing concluded on 9 March and both officers will now be submitted to the College of Policing barred list.

The panel heard Mr Athawes had been working on the night of 30 May 2021, when he dropped his crew mate back at a police station.

Following the two-day public hearing, the panel concluded that the allegations were proven

He then went in a police riot van to collect Ms Krolewicz who had been on a night out in Exeter with friends.

They then drove to a secluded car park and church yard.

The panel heard how on 17 June, Ms Krolewicz had told a colleague they had not had sex but that they had done “everything else”.

She also referred to having “done stuff in a vehicle” and disclosed that Mr Athawes’ “radio was operating so frequently they were unable to have sex”, the panel heard.

The panel upheld allegations that Mr Athawes had breached the standards appropriate to the conduct of a police officer in respect of honesty and integrity, discreditable conduct, authority, respect and courtesy and duties and responsibilities.

It was found he had knowingly planned to collect Ms Krolewicz, who was off-duty, without a policing purpose, and then engaged in sexual encounters in a marked police vehicle with her whilst he was on duty.

He also falsely told his supervisor and crew mate he was on a medication run at the time, and so unavailable for response calls, the panel found.

Ms Krolewicz was found to have breached the standards appropriate to the conduct of a police officer in respect of discreditable conduct.

Following the two-day public hearing, the panel concluded both had breached the expected standards of professional behaviour.

The panel determined that had the officers still been serving, they would have been dismissed without notice.

  • Plane crash in front of ONroute near Ontario/Quebec border leaves two people seriously injured

Ontario Provincial Police says a plane in Cornwall, Ontario, crashed on the median of Highway 401, injuring two people (OPP).

On Monday evening, a Cessna 150 reportedly crashed in front of the Bainsville ONRoute around 8:15 p.m. after attempting an emergency landing on the highway near the Ontario-Quebec border.

The federal Transportation Safety Board (TSB) launched an investigation into the crash’s causes.

“They attempted to do an emergency landing on the 401,” Isabelle Langevin, the TSB’s director of regional operations for Quebec, said to CTV News Ottawa. “While lining up to land on the highway they struck a power line that crosses the highway south to north at that particular spot and following that collision, the aircraft collided with the ground.”

One passenger, a 39-year-old man, was airlifted to a nearby hospital in serious condition while the second, reportedly a man in his 20s according to Ornge air ambulance, is in life-threatening condition, said acting Sgt. Erin Cranton, a spokesperson for the OPP.

  • £6.2 million project to install ground-source heat pumps in Stithians’ homes

The first phase of a multimillion-pound project to install ground-source heat pumps in Cornwall homes has begun.

The £6.2 million project, which would assist about 250 homes, will first install pumps in the village of Stithians, where many residents rely on heating oil.

The pumps cost about £20,000 each, but the project by manufacturer Kensa is being paid for by European funding.

Heating homes account for 30% of the UK’s carbon emissions.

The Heat The Streets project has been given £6.2m from the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and is seeing systems being rolled out to homes of different numbers of bedrooms and ages in the village.

Project manager Lisa Treseder, from Kensa, said the work would mean cheaper bills “, especially for people that are on oil and… even more for people that have got electric storage heaters”.

Parish councilor Phil Blease, who helped bring the project to Stithians, said it was an attitude of “we’re all in this together and we’ve all got to do our bit”.

He said: “We have been very successful in doing that, and inspired a lot of other energy groups and communities.”

Future plans include creating communal grids of underground pipes to source heat that people could hook into to heat homes in a carbon-friendly way, project bosses said.
