A&C Mall management has assured customers whose vehicles were damaged in the recent structural collapse at its carport that all repair costs will be fully covered by insurance.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 25, following a severe rainstorm with strong winds and lightning, which caused widespread destruction across Accra.
At A&C Mall in East Legon, the storm led to the collapse of a solar panel structure in the parking area, resulting in damage to multiple vehicles.
In a public statement, A&C Development confirmed the event but reassured the public that no injuries were recorded.
“We acknowledge that some clients’ vehicles were affected by the incident. We want to assure all affected vehicle owners that the necessary repairs will be fully covered by our insurers, who are already working to assess and address the damages promptly,” the statement read.
The management reaffirmed its dedication to safety, emphasizing that proactive measures are being implemented to strengthen infrastructure and prevent similar incidents in the future.
They also extended their gratitude to the Ghana Police Service, NADMO, and the Ghana National Fire Service for their prompt intervention and support during the situation.
For further assistance, customers can reach out to the mall’s customer service team at 0504736514 or 0500094454, the statement added.
A&C Mall management has assured the public that efforts are in progress to restore normal operations and maintain a secure shopping environment for all visitors.
A severe rainstorm that swept through Accra on Tuesday, March 25, caused significant damage in multiple areas, leaving one person injured and various structures impacted.
A tree fell on a vehicle in front of the Kotobabi Police Station, sending the driver to the Police Hospital for treatment.
The individual is said to be receiving medical care, though there is no update on their condition.
At the A&C Mall in East Legon, the storm brought down a solar panel car park shed, damaging more than 50 vehicles.
The rainstorm also wreaked havoc at the Accra College of Education, where several buildings were affected. Part of a newly constructed washroom facility was damaged, and flooding in the dormitories led to students losing personal items.
Eric Kwasi Azong, the SRC President of Accra College of Education, shared his account of the damage
“We had some of the rain entering into some of the dormitories and then had to flood the dormitories which caused a lot of inconvenience to the students. As well as some of the roofs on some of the lecturers’ bungalows were taken off and then some carpenters are on site trying to fix the situation.”
Despite the extensive damage, there have been no fatalities reported. Authorities and repair teams are working to assess the full extent of the destruction and begin the necessary repairs.
A heavyrainstorm on the evening of Tuesday March 25 evening caused serious flooding and damage in several parts of Accra, including Madina, Legon, Okponglo, and East Legon.
The downpour left roads underwater, slowed traffic, and brought down billboards. At A&C Mall in East Legon, a carport collapsed due to the strong winds and heavy rain, adding to the destruction.
Many residents and drivers were stranded as the floodwaters blocked major roads. People are now calling for better drainage systems to prevent frequent flooding in the city.
Authorities have yet to determine the full extent of the damage, but emergency teams have been asked to act quickly to bring the situation under control.
In a surprising turn of events, the Attorney-General has dropped charges against prominent clergyman Bishop Salifu Amoako, Mouha Amoako, and another individual believed to be his maid, resulting in their release from the court in the East Legon accident case.
However, there are unverified reports indicating that they were promptly re-arrested under new legal grounds as soon as they exited the courthouse. The reasons for the abrupt withdrawal of charges and the immediate re-arrest are still shrouded in mystery.
Bishop Elijah Salifu Amoako, his son’s mother, Mouha Amoako, and a sales assistant named Linda Bonsu Bempah were arrested because of a terrible accident caused by their 16-year-old son in East Legon on October 12, 2024.
The teenager was driving a white Jaguar F-Space Sports without a license when he hit an Acura utility vehicle. The Acura caught fire, and two young girls sadly died as a result.
In December 2024, the court sentenced the son to six months in the Senior Correctional Center for causing the deaths of the two people.
At first, the boy said he was not guilty of manslaughter, causing harm by being careless, dangerous driving, and driving without a license. But he later admitted he was guilty, which led to his conviction.
As part of his punishment, the teenager must report to probation officers every two weeks and sign a promise not to drive until he turns 18.
Separately, the court fined his parents 500 penalty units each (about GHc 6,000) for not supervising him properly. They also have to pay for the damages caused by the accident, including a light pole worth GHc 8,000.
President Akufo-Addo will today commission the Flower Pot Interchange after years of construction work.
Once opened, the flyover will improve traffic connectivity between the north and south of the motorway. It will facilitate movement from areas including Cantonments and Burma Camp to East Legon, Spintex, and Tema, enhancing the overall quality of life for residents in these areas.
The project features an 802-meter dual carriageway for the viaduct with asphaltic concrete surfacing, a 140-meter ramp constructed from Shiashie onto the viaduct towards Airport Hills, and an 80-meter ramp from the viaduct onto the motorway towards Tema.
Additionally, the interchange includes a new road through the old tunnel at East Legon, an extra 200 meters of road connecting Cantonments from the Giffard Road Interchange, a redesign of the Flower Pot roundabout and its approaches, pedestrian walkways on each side of the flyover, and road furniture such as streetlights, road markings, and traffic signals.
Salifu Amoako’s 16-year-old son has been remanded again in connection with the tragic car accident in East Legon that resulted in the deaths of two young girls.
The juvenile, charged with eight counts of manslaughter, causing harm negligently, dangerous driving, and driving without a license, made his initial court appearance last Friday, where he pleaded not guilty.
The case, which has drawn significant public attention, is being held in the Family and Juvenile Court. Since juvenile cases are often closed to the public, it is unclear whether the young defendant has been placed in a correctional centre or in the care of his parents, as allowed under Section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2003 (Act 653).
This provision permits the court when bail is denied, to either remand a juvenile to a nearby remand home or commit them to the care of a family member or other responsible guardian.
The court has scheduled the case for November 13 to continue proceedings, according to reports from Graphic.com.
Assistant State Attorney Ebenezer Yaw Acquah outlined the case, highlighting how the juvenile’s family allegedly permitted him to access and drive their vehicles despite his age and lack of a valid driver’s license. According to Mr Acquah, on October 12, 2024, the family hosted a birthday party for the accused at an event centre in East Legon, where the tragic events began.
During the party, the juvenile reportedly asked Linda Bonsu Bempah, a personal assistant assigned to oversee the event, for the keys to his mother’s Jaguar F-Pace. Linda, who had been entrusted with the keys, handed them over to the boy. With a friend accompanying him, he drove the Jaguar to the A&C Mall, where other friends awaited them in two SUVs.
The three vehicles, with the juvenile leading in his mother’s car, formed a convoy and sped through East Legon. The prosecution recounted that on the Dzane-Ashie Road, the accused decided to test the speed of the Jaguar, accelerating recklessly despite the presence of other road users.
Approaching a T-junction at Mensah Wood Avenue at high speed, the accused crashed into the rear of an Acura being driven by Joseph Ackah. Ackah had just slowed down to make a turn when the collision occurred. The impact was severe, propelling both cars across the road and into a wall, damaging an ECG pole.
Both vehicles quickly caught fire. The accused and his passenger managed to escape, but those in the Acura were not as fortunate. Ackah, who was driving his employer’s daughters, one of whom was a toddler, along with two 12-year-old friends, struggled to open his door and eventually fell into the flames, where bystanders helped drag him to safety.
While volunteers rescued the toddler and her sister, they were unable to save the two 12-year-old girls as the fire intensified. The car was engulfed in flames, tragically claiming their lives.
The prosecution reported that the investigation revealed the accused had been driving recklessly and far below the standard expected of any responsible driver, endangering both vehicles and pedestrians. Under questioning, the accused admitted to taking the keys from Linda, picking up his friend, and driving to the mall.
As the case progresses, the court will determine the appropriate legal path forward for the young defendant, with further proceedings set for November 13.
The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for two individuals accused of spreading false information on social media regarding the whereabouts of the 16-year-old son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, Founder of Alive Chapel International, who is the suspect driver in the East Legon accident case.
Despite claims circulating online that the suspect is not in custody at the Osu Correctional Centre, the police in a statement dated November 5 have confirmed that the minor has been held at the facility since the Court’s directive on November 1.
The police have linked the false reports to two social media accounts: a TikTok user with the handle “prisywanlov1” and a Facebook user named “Empress Papa A-Amigos.” Authorities are working to locate those behind these accounts, who could face charges under Section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), for publishing false information.
Empress, who claims to be a social worker at the Boys Remand Home, wrote, “Ghana Police Service, come clear on this. I am a state-trained social worker since 1989 and have worked at the Boys Remand Home since 1990. It is the only lawful child custody centre in Accra. Children are only committed to correctional centres when the Juvenile Court makes a decision on the case. For now, he is supposed to be at the Boys Remand Home by law. When I worked there, we kept children charged with serious offences and I handled them.”
She further questioned, “So, where exactly is Salifu’s son? When I checked today, the doors of the Remand Home were open, and no boy has been received. I am very interested in this case. We will be watching closely; money is not everything.”
In its statement, the Police wrote, “We find it deeply unfortunate that a tragic incident resulting in the loss of two beautiful souls is being exploited by some individuals in an unGhanaian manner to draw attention to themselves. We urge the public to refrain from such actions and allow the families to grieve in peace.”
The incident stems from a tragic accident on October 12, 2024, when a Jaguar SUV allegedly driven by the suspect collided with a 4×4 Acura, resulting in the deaths of Justine Mary-Anne Enyonam Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh.
During the court hearing on November 1, the judge outlined specific conditions for the suspect’s remand, including the surrender of his Ghanaian and U.S. passports by November 4. The court also ordered a medical examination at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on the same date, with provision for emergency care at the Police Hospital if necessary.
The suspect’s parents, Bishop Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, have also been charged for allegedly allowing their underage son to drive. The family has since issued a public apology to the families of the victims.
Justine Mary-Anne Enyonam Agbenu, one of the two young victims of the heartbreaking East Legon accident, will be laid to rest today.
A farewell service took place at Christ the King Catholic Church in Accra, where mourners gathered to pay their last respects and share in the grief of a community forever changed.
Videos from the service reveal the profound sorrow felt by all in attendance. One poignant moment captured Justine’s remains arriving in a hearse, adorned with beautiful wreaths, including a heartfelt tribute from her mother.

Following a brief prayer led by clergy and family members, the casket was carried to the front of the hall, marking the beginning of the burial service.
The tragic accident occurred on October 12, 2024, when a Jaguar SUV, driven by 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle on Mensah Wood Street, claiming the lives of Justine and her friend Maame Dwomoh. Both girls were beloved students at Cornerstone International Academy, and their absence leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of their friends and family.

On Friday, October 18, friends, family, and sympathizers held a candlelight vigil at the accident site, honouring the vibrant lives of the two girls. Maame was interred over the weekend in a private burial service, a solemn farewell to a bright future cut tragically short.
In the aftermath of this devastating incident, authorities have launched an investigation, resulting in the arrest of Elrad’s parents, Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, for their role in allowing their son to drive underage.
The family of the 16-year-old has publicly expressed their remorse, with Bishop Salifu Amoako seeking forgiveness from the families of the victims, underscoring the deep sense of loss felt throughout the community.
Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown has spoken on the recent fatal accident that occurred at East Legon involving the 16-year-old son of Pastor Salifu Amoako of Alive Chapel Ministries International.
Speaking on Onua Showtime on October 20, McBrown shared her condolences with the bereaved families praying for God’s strength in this time of their lives.
Acknowledging their pains, she admonished the parents of the late 12 year old girls to allow God and time take course in their healing from their trauma.
She noted that, “When I put myself in our father’s shoes, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of pity for him. No parent punishes their child simply for being stubborn. While I’m not here to defend him or anyone else, it’s clear that the loss of these young lives is incredibly painful.
Regardless of which family may have had more children, the real issue lies in the tragic circumstances that led to their deaths. This must be unimaginably traumatic for their parents. All I can say is that we must let time and God heal this pain, allowing them to find peace in the future.”
She shared her personal connection with the pastor, stating that he is like family to her. She also called on Ghanaians to keep him in their prayers during this difficult time.
“Bishop Salifu is like an uncle to me because he grew up in Kwadaso, and I saw him when he was starting his church. He is a very good man.
Even if you hate him, this is not the time for you to gloat. I also pray that God strengthens him because he is going through a lot,” she said.
Also, Rev. Obofour, Founder and Leader of Anointed Palace Chapel, has made a heartfelt plea to the families of the victims involved in the East Legon accident, urging them to extend forgiveness to Pastor Salifu Amoako.
In one of his sermons, Rev. Obofour emphasised that Pastor Salifu is a compassionate individual, deserving of empathy and understanding from the public.
He called for mercy, highlighting that Pastor Salifu is not a malicious person, and asked for Ghanaians to show leniency during this challenging time.
The grandmother of Justine Agbenu, one of the victims in the fatal car crash at East Legon, Accra, has called for the family of Salifu Amoako, the 16-year-old responsible for the accident, to face the full extent of the law.
Twelve-year-old Justine was one of two people who died in the October 12, 2024 crash, caused when Elrad Salifu Amoako, son of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, founder of Alive Chapel International, rammed his mother’s car into another vehicle carrying the victims.
In an interview with Kofi Adoma Nwanwani of Kofi TV, published on Sunday, October 21, 2024, the grieving grandmother emphasized that Elrad and his parents should be held accountable to serve as a deterrent to others.
“My granddaughter woke up very excited on that Saturday. She prepared her own breakfast. One of her friends had come back from Canada and had brought her a lot of gifts, so she was pumped up. She and her friend Maame Dwomor… He must face the law fully. If not, things like these will continue. I know justice will not bring back my granddaughter, but it will serve as a deterrent to others. We are spoiling our children,” she stated.
The grandmother, who revealed that Justine was the only child of her parents, recounted how the child was returning from a party when the tragic accident occurred. She also expressed frustration with attempts made by Bishop Salifu Amoako’s family to plead with them, stating that the emissaries sent to her family house made distasteful comments.
“What were they coming to do? I don’t have an issue with them; the issue is in the hands of the police. On Sunday, I was informed that one of them called my son-in-law, saying they wanted to come here. He told him that the issue was with the police and so there was no need. His response was that, ‘it has happened already,’” she revealed.
Meanwhile, it was disclosed that Justine was related to the late Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, a law lecturer at the University of Ghana, who was murdered in 2020. The journalist further noted that Elrad Amoako is still in the hospital undergoing recovery following the accident.
Bishop Salifu Amoako, his wife Mouha Amoako, and Linda Bempah, a sales assistant charged in connection with the incident, have since been granted bail by the court.
General Overseer of Alive Chapel International Ministries,Bishop Salifu Amoako, has expressed his frustration over the widespread attention his son’s accident has received.
According to him, the news of his son’s accident has garnered that much attention because of his “name.” On his part, if a random Okada rider had been the perpetuator of this accident, it would have died out by now.
“It is because of my name; that is why the thing is going everywhere. If this car had hit an Okada, who is going to mention it? It is just because of my name. So let’s see what the Lord will do,” he remarked.
In a video posted on Twitter, Bishop Amoako stated, “What happened was purely an accident, as his son didn’t set out to kill anybodyIt was an accident. My son did not carry a gun to go and kill somebody. My son involved himself in a terrible accident. I was not the one who did it. Neither his mother.”
The pastor said this while addressing congregants during his Sunday church service on October 20, 2024, attributing the issue’s attention to his popularity.
It was an accident; my son did not carry a gun to kill somebody – Bishop Salifu Amoako. pic.twitter.com/k8oRcStwTw
He further warned his church members against engaging in unnecessary discussions about the tragic accident that ended the lives of two young girls.
The man of God also stated that people, particularly Ghanaians, tend to speak cheaply because that is what they have.
“People don’t know the truth, so Ghanaians talk. The only thing they have is talking. Did you hear what I said? Ghana here, they don’t have anything; the only thing they have is talking. Talk is cheap; don’t go and say things to add more pain to my life. Stay calm, stay quiet; the case is still in court,” he said in the viral video.
The incident occurred when 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, lost control of a Jaguar SUV (GN 7801-20) and collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle (GR 2542-23).
The collision caused both vehicles to catch fire, resulting in two girls, Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, who were in the Acura being burnt beyond recognition.
Following the accident, Bishop Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, were arrested on October 15 and were later granted bail of ¢50,000 each.
A video of Salifu Amoako apologising to the families of the deceased popped up on social media but was met with mixed reactions.
On October 18, a vigil was held at the accident site in memory of the two girls.
Reggae musician and media personality Blakk Rastahas strongly criticised Archbishop Salifu Amoako following comments made in a resurfaced viral video.
In the video, Archbishop Salifu Amoako is seen bragging about driving without a license or number plate, confidently stating that no police officer would dare arrest him for fear of losing their job.
He even suggested he had the power to have officers dismissed if they attempted to apprehend him.
These controversial statements have resurfaced in the wake of recent allegations involving the Archbishop’s son, who is said to have been involved in a fatal car accident that claimed two lives.
Blakk Rasta has spoken out strongly against the Archbishop’s comments. “Salifu Amoako doesn’t have any education. He doesn’t have a classmate. He has never sat in a classroom.
Even if you’ve not had any formal education there’s bible wisdom that I expect every man of God to have – Blakk Rasta to Salifu Amoako #UrbanBlend#3FM927
He learnt everything on the street,” he said. He added, “But there’s natural wisdom outside formal education. I expected that a man of God would have that.”
Blakk Rasta also criticised the notion of being “above the law,” arguing, “If you claim that no policeman can stop you from breaking the law, it doesn’t make you a Superman.
It only means you live in a lawless country and that you are lawless yourself. If I were part of that congregation, I would walk out.”
Furthermore, Blakk Rastacondemned certain teachings by some religious leaders, which, according to him, promote the idea that wealth can be achieved solely through prayer, without hard work.
He stated, “These are the people who preach that God will make you rich without working. Just get up and pray. What prayer can do for you, work can never do for you.”
The two victims who died in last Saturday’s East Legon accident have been identified as 12-year-old girls, the police have confirmed.
The vehicle they were in, with three other people, a Honda Acura with registration number GR 2542–23 was hit from behind and trapped them inside.
It was a white Jaguar vehicle with registration GN 7801 – 20, being driven by a 16-year-old son of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako of the Alive Chapel International, that rammed into their vehicle from behind.
The Honda Acura vehicle that the two 12-year-olds were in was being driven by Joseph Ackah with two other occupants.
The driver Joseph Ackah and the two others survived the accident, but the two girls were burnt beyond recognition.
This was because the impact of the accident forced the vehicles to hit a wooden electric pole, which caused the wires to drop on the vehicle and sparked a fire.
Cornerstone International Academy, the school the girls were attending, has announced an early midterm break following the horrific accident.
In a letter to parents, the school expressed its condolences to the affected families and announced that it would close early for the midterm break from Tuesday, October 15 to Friday, October 18, 2024.
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the affected families, We wish those hospitalized a speedy recovery” the school’s letter read.
Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako of Alive Chapel International and the mother of his son, Mouha Amoako were on Tuesday arrested by the police for their son’s involvement in the East Legon accident.
Their son, a 16-year-old, who was driving the white Jaguar, rammed the Honda Acura at East Legon and killed the two girls on the spot.
The Ghana Police Service has arrested Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, parents of 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, who was involved in a tragic accident at East Legon on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
The accident claimed the lives of two young girls and left several others injured.
According to police reports, Elrad Salifu Amoako, driving a Jaguar SUV with registration number GN 7801-20, collided with a 4×4 Acura, registered GR 2542-23, driven by Joseph Ackah, on Mensah Wood Street, East Legon. The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire, burning beyond recognition.
In the Acura vehicle, five people were on board. Three of them were rescued from the burning car, while two others, identified as Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, both 12 years old, tragically lost their lives. Two of the rescued passengers sustained minor injuries, were treated, and discharged, while one remains in the hospital receiving medical care.
The suspect driver, Elrad, and his passenger were also rescued from the burning Jaguar and are currently hospitalized.
The police have arrested the young driver’s parents, Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, as part of ongoing investigations into the fatal crash.
On October 15, 2024, a team from the Police Management Board, led by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, visited the bereaved families to offer their condolences and also checked on the injured victims at the hospital.
The police have assured the public of a comprehensive investigation and have pledged to provide closure for the affected families. They continue to express their condolences and sympathies to those grieving during this difficult period.
The Ghana Police have identified Salifu Amoako as the driver of the white Jaguar involved in a tragic accident last Saturday at East Legon, Accra, which led to the deaths of two individuals.
According to a police statement issued on October 14, 2024, Amoako survived the crash and is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital along with other survivors. The fatal accident, which occurred on Dzanie Ashie Street on October 12, is still under investigation.
Salifu Amoako is reported to be the son of Prophet Salifu Amoako, leader of the Alive Chapel International based in Tesano, Accra. Though unconfirmed, there are claims that Amoako is a minor.
The police have not addressed this detail but have reiterated that investigations are ongoing.
One of the surviving victims has already been treated and discharged, while the bodies of the two female victims, who tragically lost their lives in the incident, have been taken to the morgue.
The crash involved seven individuals in total—four passengers in the Jaguar and three in the Honda Acura.
CCTV footage circulated on social media shows the Jaguar speeding through a crowded area before slamming into the Honda Acura from behind and hitting a wooden electric pole. The impact caused power lines to fall onto the Acura, sparking a fire.
The fire engulfed the Honda Acura, trapping the two female occupants inside. They were tragically burnt beyond recognition before emergency responders from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) could arrive.
GNFS personnel, upon reaching the scene, confirmed the deaths of the two women. Meanwhile, all four occupants of the Jaguar were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The rapid spread of the flames, fuelled by the fallen electric wires, consumed both vehicles, leaving the victims with no chance of escape. Witnesses reported thick plumes of smoke filling the air as the blaze raged on, drawing a crowd of onlookers who could do little to help.
Disturbing footage of the fire, shared by the GNFS, highlights the severity of the accident and the overwhelming intensity of the flames.
An investigation has been initiated by the Ghana Police Service following a tragic accident in East Legon, Accra, that resulted in the deaths of two individuals over the weekend.

On October 1, 2024, Rev. Obofour, leader of the Anointed Palace Chapel (APC), was among a group of pastors who met with John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in East Legon.
The gathering allowed Mahama to engage with Christian leaders ahead of the upcoming December elections, combining worship, prayer, and discussion.
During the meeting, Rev. Obofour posed several critical questions to Mahama, seeking clarity on key issues affecting Ghanaians.
He expressed concerns about the rising cost of building materials, including cement and iron rods, and urged Mahama to address these issues in his campaign.
“Everyone’s dream is to build, but we haven’t heard anything about cement during campaigns, so please talk about it and iron rods,” he said.
He emphasized the need for concrete plans to make construction more affordable for citizens.
Obofour also inquired about Mahama’s strategy for stabilizing the Ghanaian cedi, noting the increasing gap between the cedi and the dollar.
“Now the dollar is speaking a different language, the value difference. Please, what will you do about it when you win power?” Obofour asked.
Additionally, he raised concerns about the rising cost of public transportation, which has made daily commuting more expensive for many Ghanaians.
“Before, people could buy porridge with the coins left after boarding trotro, but now trotro fares are expensive. What will you do about it?”
Finally, Obofour encouraged Mahama to maintain open communication with the clergy, urging him to continue seeking their input on national issues if elected.
“When God helps you, you have met the clergy now… when you get the power, you should call us again, so we can say our minds on the economy,” Rev. Obofour stressed.
Other prominent pastors in attendance included Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah of Royal House Chapel International and Rev. Dr. Stephen Yenusom Wengam of the Assemblies of God Church.

Yvonne Nelson celebrates her school’s grand opening at East Legon Hills
Ghanaian artiste Sista Afia recently discussed the reasons behind the closure of her kelewele fast food joint, Kelevo, in East Legon, during an interview with ZionFelix.
She revealed that the business’s strong association with her public persona was detrimental, leading her to keep her entrepreneurial ventures more private.
“Everyone knew the business was mine. As an artiste, I realized it was better to keep my business separate from my public image,” she explained.
She emphasized that financial issues did not drive the closure; rather, it was about relocating.
“It wasn’t about the money; I just needed a new location. The place I was at first was just a street-side stand, but now I have a shop,” she added.
Sista Afia now operates two other businesses, one in Accra and another in Kumasi. She highlighted the challenges celebrities face in managing businesses, particularly the importance of overseeing finances closely.
“It’s not easy to manage a business. You have to pay attention to every detail, especially the money, to prevent it from collapsing,” she stated.

Richard Benjamin Acquaye, the caretaker of his late aunt’s property in East Legon, Greater Accra, has refuted claims that he sold the land to Daniel Nii Laryea Martey.
Acquaye alleges that Martey attempted to seize the property through financial inducement, deception, and the use of fake land documents.
According to Acquaye, Martey and Aziz Suhiyni initiated their scheme by inquiring about the property’s availability for sale, claiming they had influence over land documents at the Lands Commission.
Martey promised Acquaye $60,000 for facilitating the sale and gave him Ghc3,000 for communication with his overseas cousins.
Acquaye stated that Martey also gave him $10,000 on two occasions and collected details from obituary posters of Acquaye’s late cousin, Herbert.
Acquaye further claimed that land guards invaded the property last year, but he repelled them. In July 2023, during a rainstorm, the land guards returned and damaged the property’s roof.
Acquaye reported the incidents to the police, prompting his overseas cousins to visit Ghana. Before a meeting at the police headquarters, Martey and Suhiyni allegedly instructed Acquaye to falsely accuse Herbert of taking $90,000 from them.
Acquaye complied but later confessed to the police that his statement was untrue, stating that Martey and Suhiyni did not know Herbert before his death.
Acquaye clarified to the police that he was not authorized to sell his late aunt’s property and accused Martey of attempting to unlawfully acquire the land with fake documents.
Ghanaians have been warned about a concerning new tactic employed by thieves and robbers to steal mobile phones from unsuspecting individuals.
According to reports from social media users who have been targeted, the modus operandi involves robbers approaching people under false pretenses, requesting to use their phones for a call, and then fleeing with the stolen devices.
Among those affected is well-known Ghanaian media personality, Gifty Bingley, who shared her encounter in a Facebook post dated December 30, 2023.
“Please exercise caution. This morning, as I jogged, a man in a Mercedes persistently honked and drove dangerously close. He stopped, pleading that his phone battery was dead and he urgently needed to make a call to inform someone that he was on his way.
“I hesitated for a second, then empathised, thinking I could be in a similar situation if I were driving without my car charger. I offered him my iPhone. Regrettably, I overlooked a critical warning sign: his car’s running engine. After unlocking my phone and handing it to him, the first thing he did was switch off my location service and speed off. Everything happened so fast, I couldn’t shout. Please be careful out there and exercise caution in your empathy and kindness. A Mercedes… like, how?”
Another individual, Omy Bae, recounted in a post dated January 11, 2024, how her phone was stolen using a similar method.
“Last night my phone( 14pro max) was snatched from me and they drove the car over me at the ARS to American house stretch around 6 to 7 p.m.
“He is dark skin, chubby, and has a beard, mine looked like a Hyundai 4*4 / a Honda CRV, light blue/ashy, but listening to people, he uses Civic as well, he’s with his friends, the cars are not registered and with no DV plate.
“He will either ask you for direction like he did to me or start a Snapchat conversation. Y’all be careful out there, Ghana is not safe anymore. They are doing it to both men and women. Don’t be too nice or smile to anybody,” she posted on Facebook.
Blogger, SikaOfficial has also shared a video on the X app depicting how a woman’s phone was stolen from her through a similar approach.

Tragedy has struck the family of late New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Albert Adu Boahen, as his son, Christopher Adu Boahen, was recently robbed and killed at his residence in East Legon, a suburb of Accra.
According to a report by Asaaseradio.com, armed robbers forcibly entered his home, ransacked it thoroughly, and tragically took his life in the process on Monday, March 18.
The report referenced a Facebook post by the 1995 year group of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where Christopher pursued electrical engineering.
“Sad to announce the untimely passing of our classmate, Christopher. Wicked persons entered his home, ransacked the place, and robbed him of his life. His home, at East Legon, has been barricaded by the police and declared a crime scene.
“May the soul of our brother find rest in the Lord. Bad news for a Monday morning but let’s keep our spirits up and look forward to a great week,” the post announcing the death of Christopher Adu Boahen read.
Christopher Adu Boahen hailed from a prominent political family, with his father having been the NPP’s first presidential candidate in the 1992 elections, as Ghana returned to democracy under the Fourth Republic.
Additionally, he was the brother of Charles Adu Boahen, who held positions as both deputy minister for finance and minister of state at the Ministry of Finance in the Akufo-Addo administration.
Charles Adu Boahen resigned from the government in November 2022.

A dispute over land ownership in East Legon took centre stage as a representative from the Lands Commission testified in a case where business mogul Dr. Daniel McKorley, CEO of McDan Group, and another individual were sued for alleged trespassing on the contested property.
The plaintiff, Magnus A. L. De Souza, has filed a lawsuit against Joseph Nii Mensah Ashong and Dr. McKorley for allegedly encroaching on his land.
During the proceedings, Nii Akwei Bruce-Thompson, counsel for the plaintiff, questioned the witness from the Lands Commission about the ownership of the land in question.
The witness, Jacqueline Osarfo Dikoh, a Senior Lands Administration Officer representing the Executive Secretary of the Commission, confirmed that Magnus A. L. De Souza is indeed the rightful owner of the land.
To support her testimony, Dikoh presented documents indicating that the government had granted a lease to Prof. David Kpapko Acquaye on March 25, 1977. Subsequently, Prof. Acquaye assigned his interests to Magnus A. L. De Souza through a Deed of Assignment dated November 8, 1995.
Dikoh submitted relevant documents to the court, including the Deed of Assignment from the Government of Ghana to Prof. David Kpakpo Acquaye, the Deed of Assignment from Prof. Acquaye to Mr. Magnus A. L. De Souza, and correspondence between the plaintiff’s lawyer and the Lands Commission confirming the validity of the plaintiff’s ownership.
Additionally, Dikoh confirmed that Mr. De Souza had fulfilled all financial obligations related to the land, including stamp duty and ground rent, up to 2024.
Further clarifying the land’s history, Dikoh explained that the British Colonial Government had acquired the land in 1944 for airport expansion.
The lease was later sold to Prof. Acquaye, who subsequently sold it to Mr. De Souza, establishing Mr. De Souza’s rightful ownership.
Justice Rita Abena Abrokwa Doko instructed that photocopies of the submitted documents be provided to the court and served to the defendants’ lawyer. The case was adjourned until March 4, 2024, for cross-examination.
Background
Mr. De Souza initiated legal action against Joseph Nii Mensah Ashong and Daniel McKorley, alleging trespassing on his land, with the first hearing held on July 31, 2017.
Subsequently, on February 13, 2020, De Souza’s legal representative filed a motion for an interlocutory injunction. Justice Doko granted the injunction on the same day, ordering the defendants and any associated parties to refrain from interfering with De Souza’s land until the conclusion of the case.
In his defence, Ashong disputed De Souza’s claim, asserting that his late father acquired the land from the Nii Odoi Atsem family of La in 1974 and immediately took possession. Ashong argued that De Souza, being a non-Ghanaian, unlawfully held an interest in the land for over 50 years, contravening Act 1036 of the Land Act, 2020, and the 1992 Constitution.
However, during cross-examination in July 2023, De Souza countered these claims, demonstrating that his lease had not expired. Additionally, Ashong claimed to have commenced construction on the land in 2000 but later demolished it to start afresh with financial backing from his partner.
He maintained that the land was legitimately granted to McDan by his family, the Nii Odoi Atsem family of La and Okponglo, as evidenced in his statement to the police.
“Neither the plaintiff nor his grantor has possessed the land in dispute or entered or done anything on the disputed land for these years that they claim to have acquired the land. If the plaintiff or his grantor did have any interest in the disputed land, that cannot be the reality now, as for the past 10 years they have not developed or exercised any act of possession on the land, he added.
TheLands Commission witness, however, gave evidence that in their files, Mr. De Souza is the registered owner of the land.

According to the prosecutor, the complainant Juliana Ayayee Lokko is a pensioner and resident of Community 5, Tema.

It said on December 13, 2023, at about 0000 hours (midnight), the complainant informed the Police that the accused persons had gone on the land.
Prosecution said the accused persons claimed one Francis had asked them to work on the land and they prevented the complainant from having access to the land.
According to the prosecutor, the Police rushed to the land and arrested the accused persons at about 2 am.
Prosecution said the accused persons were escorted to the Regional Police Headquarters and they were cautioned.
It said the accused persons in their caution statement, claimed they were sent to protect the land by one Francis who is now at large.

A new data by The Kenkey Index, the worst value of kenkey as of September 30, 2023, is GH6.56 at East Legon.
According to the study, the best price for Kenkey in La was GH2.86.
“Not all kenkey are created equal. The best value kenkey we found was in La: 2.86 cedis for kenkey the weight of a sachet of water. The worst value was in East Legon: 6.56 cedis,” a tweet by The Kenkey Index on September 30 said.

While the cost of Ga kenkey for consumers in Accra has been steadily increasing over the past year in sync with national food inflation, recent research conducted by The Kenkey Index sheds light on the dynamics of kenkey prices and offers some early indications of relief for kenkey enthusiasts.
The question of kenkey pricing has become increasingly complex. Is it GH¢2, GH¢3, GH¢4, or now even GH¢5 per serving? However, the five-cedi kenkey of today prompts comparisons with the two-cedi kenkey from the previous year. How does kenkey in Kaneshie stack up against kenkey in Cantonments? How does Ga kenkey fare against, for instance, Fante kenkey? And just how substantial is the heaviest kenkey ball available? More importantly, what does the price of kenkey reveal about inflation, or more specifically, “shrinkflation”?
Since August 2022, The Kenkey Index has diligently monitored the pricing of Ga kenkey throughout Accra, striving to provide clarity on these swirling questions for public consumption.
Remarkably, kenkey is diminishing in size even as its price per serving gradually increases. From the perspective of shrinkflation, the weight of kenkey (at a given price) has diminished by 32 percent compared to the previous year. As for inflation, the price of kenkey (at a given weight) has surged by 51.8 percent, closely mirroring the Ghana Statistical Service’s most recent data indicating a national food inflation rate of 51.9 percent.
Kenkey prices in the market today fluctuate between GH¢2 and GH¢5, but GH¢4 has become the prevailing price, a significant jump from GH¢3 just one year ago. On average, kenkey equivalent to the weight of a sachet of water now costs GH¢4.69, up substantially from GH¢3.09 recorded a year ago.
The Accra Circuit Court has remanded a husband and wife, Vera Nartey, also known as Akosua Kyerewah, and Nosah Ekhator, into lawfully custody to await sentencing.
The court, presided over by Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah, remanded the married couple after having found them guilty of conspiracy to commit a crime, and defrauding by false pretences.
The duo are residents of East Legon and were into business.
They were found guilty of defrauding an Adenta based businessman, Godwin Kwame Avadu Donkor, off US$290,000.00 under the false pretence of selling the latter landed property.
Mr. Acquah deferred the couple’s sentence to October 2.
Vera and her husband have been on GH¢1.5 million bail each with three sureties, one of who to be justified and the others civil servants earning not less than GH¢2,000.00 each.
They were granted bail on October 14, after having pleases not guilty to the charges.
Brief facts
The court was told by Chief Inspector Daniel Danku that on or before January 2022, Mr. Donkor, the complainant, needed a house to buy for his family and got in contact with the couple.
The convicts told the complainant that, they had a four-bedroom storey building at East Legon, being offered for sale at US$290,000.00.
Within the same period, the convicts took the complainant to East Legon and showed him the apartment which they were offering for sale.
The complainant, after inspection the building, became interested and bargain with the convicts.
On January 28, 2022, the complainant paid an amount of GH¢1,663,200.00 to the convicts.
Meanwhile, after the payment, the convicts failed to carry out their promise and re-sold the same apartment to one Emmanuel.
The complainant became alarmed and on October 2, 2022, reported the matter to the police for investigation.
On October 3, 2022, the convicts were arrested and on caution, they both admitted receiving GH¢1,663,200.00 from the complainant.
The convicts promised to refund the complainant’s money to him, but failed.
Private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has come under intense scrutiny for failing to reveal the identity of a Minister he claims owns several mansions in East Legon.
Martin Kpebu is reported to have made such an allegation while contributing to discussions surrounding missing cash from the home of former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
But the lack of full details has triggered Lawyer Maurice Ampaw to lash out at his colleague.
According to Lawyer Ampaw, he suspects Martin Kpebu deliberately withheld the identity of the said Minister in order to siphon money from him or her.
He described Martin Kpebu as a blackmailer and dared him to reveal the identity of the individual in question.
Speaking on his Mmra Ne Abrabo Mu Nsem on Wontumi TV on August 6, 2023, Maurice Ampaw said: “A blackmailing lawyer like you, you are a blackmailer, I want you to take me on…you want to blackmail some of the MPs…you know a minister who has four houses why didn’t you mention his name? You want to go the Anas way, so that they come and beg you, bring it on, Martin Kpebu, NDC bring it on, because of Cecilia Dapaah…you people don’t know where she got her money from… You have labeled all NPP appointees and ministers as individuals amassing wealth illegally because of the upcoming elections,” he said.
He claimed that Martin Kpebu has connections with the opposing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and was employing these accusations to advance his party’s interests in the upcoming elections.
“You Kpebu you speak for the NDC… Charity begins at home. You are trying to make NPP ministers and appointees look as if they are the only one’s building houses, but start from your party, Lawyer Kpebu, start from your party, your own party that you have turned yourself like a hypocrite who doesn’t want to be associate with them but you are with them.”
He questioned the credibility of Kpebu by raising concerns about his lack of commentary regarding alleged questionable projects and constructions that occurred during the tenure of the previous government.
“Let me deal with Lawyer Kpebu, where is Lawyer Kpebu? Lawyer Kpebu has said that we have to go after politicians who are amassing wealth and building houses, and he said he is going to expose a politician who has built four houses, Martin Kpebu, Lawyer Martin Kpebu, hello, you have a miss call?
“Are you there, you are not serious, Martin Kpebu you are not serious, you have never been a serious politician and I am saying it on authority, because if you are a serious politician when did it cross your mind that politicians were building houses, when? Is it this government’s time?” he quizzed.
A Police Commander at the National Police Command, ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor, has been accused of leading a demolition exercise at East Legon, resulting in the destruction of properties owned by Prophetess Deborah Banahene.
It cannot be confirmed when the demolition took place, however reports suggest that the commander hired excavators to bring the properties down.
According to available information, Prophetess Deborah Banahene acquired the land in 1996 from the Ashong Mlitse Family of The Odaitei Tse We of Teshie, Accra.
She is said to have divided the land into two parts, constructing a house on one portion in 1998 and leaving the other for future use. She obtained indenture over the land in 2000 and 2005.
However, complications arose when another family produced a court order claiming ownership of the land, contradicting the initial sale.
Sources say Prophetess Deborah Banahene was required to pay this family for the same land she had already acquired. Subsequently, in 2013, she discovered that Ibrahim Mahama claimed ownership of the land and requested her eviction during her land registration process at the Lands Commission.
Deborah Banahene escalated the matter to the Accra Regional headquarters and sought legal recourse to rectify the situation. Meanwhile, ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor allegedly approached Deborah Banahene’s lawyer multiple times, attempting to persuade her to sell the land.
The Commander allegedly attempted to acquire the land forcefully from Deborah Banahene after she refused to sell it to her. Despite Deborah Banahene asserting her ownership of the land with valid documents, including an indenture and Lease Agreement, the Commander reportedly resorted to intimidation and aggression.
On the premise that she possessed the title until July 14, 2023, Deborah Banahene’s house was destroyed by the Commander and police officers were involved in the harassment of her and some residents.
It is worth noting that documents, such as the indenture and Lease Agreement, demonstrate that the land was leased to Deborah Banahene by Enoch Francis Annan Acquah, representing the Okpong We family of Tesihe.
Deborah Banahene expressed deep disappointment in the Ghana Police Service for permitting its officers to partake in an unlawful exercise without verifying the authenticity of the documents presented by the Commander.
ACP Lydia Yaaka Donkor, sources say, is yet to make a response.
Parts of East Legon in Accra have been designated as a high-security zone by the Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC).
As a result, the REGSEC is the only entity with immediate authority over all security-related issues.
Henry Quartey, the Minister for Greater Accra, made this announcement following an urgent REGSEC meeting.
This, he continued, is the result of information it gathered regarding the escalating hostilities between Top Kings Limited and Empire Builders, two significant feuding factions in the region.
“The entire area under dispute has been declared a security zone. Effective today, Thursday, 16th February, 2023, REGSEC has taken over security of the area.
“These decisions have been taken considering the fact that the situation has become a recipe for disaster and a cause for security concern in the region,” the minister said.
The REGSEC has effectively also ordered for an immediate ceasure of all landguards activities in the area.
Henry Quartey stated that, by these new directives, it is not challenging the decision of the court in the ensuing matter.
Background
Empire Builders Limited has been seeking to take possession of acres of land owned to Top Kings Limited, a Ghanaian owned registered real estate company, seeking to restrain Top Kings Limited, its agents, workmen and assigns from entering, selling, or having anything to do with the 456 acres of land situated at Borteyman, Tema, which is the subject of many years of litigation.
According to a Ghanaian Times report of August 2, 2021, Justice Fred Kwasi Awuah, presiding over the case in court, observed that the conduct of the defendant amounted to abuse of the court process as the matter had already been dealt with from the lower court to the Supreme Court.
Noting that the case had travelled more than two decades, Justice Awuah said: “Litigation must end at one point or the other.”
On December 16, 2020, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court presided over by Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie said: “In the circumstances, we find that there is no sufficient basis in law for any appellate interference with the findings of fact made by the Trial Court as affirmed by the Court of Appeal and consequently no reason to disturb the order giving effect to those findings and conclusions made by the judgement of the Court of Appeal. Save the variation made with respect to the order of the Court of Appeal which reduced the term of plaintiff’s lease, we affirm the said judgement, and hereby dismissed the appeal.”
In the writ filed before the Adenta High Court, the plaintiff averred that it is the proprietary owner of all that piece or parcel of land situated at Borteyman in the Tema Municipal District Assembly of the Greater Accra Region of the Republic of Ghana in extent of 62.466 acres.
The plaintiff stated that by a certificate of title dated March 7, 1940, and registered at the Deeds Registry as No. 214/1940, two pieces or parcels of land containing a combined area of 2,570.05 acres more or less referred to as the “the Nungua Farms Land” situated at north of Nungua was compulsorily acquired by the then Government of Gold Cost from Nungua Stool.
It is the case of the plaintiff that by a lease date August 12, 2010, the President of Ghana, acting through the Lands Commission, leased all that piece or parcel of land forming part of the Nungua Farms Land, and containing an area of 976.44 acres more or less, to the Nungua Stool, for a term of Ninety-nine (99) years with effect from April 16, 2009 to the Nungua Stool subject to the rent thereby reserved and to the performance and observance of the covenants and stipulations therein contained.
The plaintiff further averred that by a Deed of Assignment dated August 13, 2010, Nungua Stool granted the unexpired term of the head lease dated April 16, 2010 over all that piece or parcel of land in extent of 62.466 acres to Empire Limited subject to the terms, conditions, covenants and stipulation.
Based on that, the plaintiff asked the court to declare the land in dispute as site for Empire Builders Limited.
Empire Builders also wanted the court to injuct Top Kings, its assigns and workmen to stop working, selling, disposing off, mortgaging in addition to costs (including counsel’s fees), award cost in damages for trespass as well as an order for recovery of possession.
The defendant had at all material times in the course of litigation denied that the land in dispute belonged to any family from Teshie and therefore was Teshie land.
It claimed that the land belonged to the Nungua Stool Land and stated that it had been in possession of the land since 1994.
It is the case of the defendant that it acquired a total of 62 acres in two lots of 40 acres and 22 acres and registered the title deed in respect thereof at the Land Title Registry as No.777/ 1999.
The defendant stated further that it had to re-acquire 8 acres out of the 40-acre lot from the Nii Whang Family of Nungua because the said family was in possession of the portion of land.
According to the defendant, it registered the said land as AR 3222/1999 and that it paid monies to other persons claiming interest with respect to the 22 acre parcel of land to enable it register same as No.646/2000 with Land Registry No. GA 15801.
An audio recording from one Dr Patrick Asiedu accusing some police officers of planting substances suspected to be narcotics in his vehicle has surfaced on social media.
Dr Asiedu reported that the incident occurred last week Friday while on the Trasacco road while on his way home to Kwashieman.
“I met these policemen on the road and they asked me to pull over. I did and when they came, they asked that I get down from the car to search me. I was not comfortable with it but because I felt they were doing their work, I got down.
They searched the car. In a few seconds, one of the policemen called me and told me he could see I had my tag and I am a doctor. If that is the case then do we have any problem with you but what is this weed doing in your car. I was like ‘what do you mean?’ He said look under your seat. What is this weed and cocaine doing over there? I was like cocaine and weed in my car?”
He allegedly told them “I have no idea what they are doing in my car,” but according to Dr Asiedu, the police officers insisted the substances were his.
In his narration, the health professional further claimed that the police requested a bribe of GHS20,000 to avoid being sent to the police station and the Narcotics Control Commission.
“You can spend 15 years in jail so pay GHS20,000,” he claimed the police said while being directed to hold the suspected narcotics.
Dr Patrick Asiedu said he phoned his brother at the Ghana Armed Forces who arrived at the scene with a number of military men.
Per the audio, the parties involved proceeded to the police station and were later directed to head to the Narcotics Control Commission, but they were called by one Commander to engage at a location Dr Asiedu failed to mention.
After their meeting hitting a snug, Dr Asiedu said he headed to the Narcotics Control Commission where his fingerprint was scanned.
“When they checked my fingerprint, they didn’t find any trace and my brother told the police to tell the truth,” he said.
“One of the officers, who is a Muslim swore that he could never plant drugs in a car. Then another officer started crying, saying that we are very sorry. We planted it in his car,” Dr Asiedu added.
Dr Asiedu further alleged that one Commander offered money to bury the issue, but was slapped by his brother, an action that led to a fisticuff.
The said police officers, he said, were arrested by the military officers who arrived with his brother, and were sent to the East Legon Police Station but later transferred to the Accra Central Police Station.
The audio has garnered massive reactions on social media platforms. While some Ghanaians have corroborated the claims made by Dr Asiedu by sharing their own experiences, others have questioned the validity of his claims.
In a press statement on January 18, addressing the allegation, the Ghana Police Service announced that it has launched investigations into the matter.
The Service noted its initial checks provided information contrary to the claims made by Dr Asiedu. The Police stated that it found no complaint at the East Legon and the Accra Central Police Stations mentioned in the audio.
Also, the Police said it contacted the Narcotics Control Commission and the Ghana Armed Forces and both institutions have indicated that “no such incident has come to their attention.”
However, the Service has assured that it will get to the bottom of the alleged incident as it “does not condone any unprofessional conduct in its quest to become an institution worthy of respect and trust in the country.”
Socialite Moesha Boduong who once disclosed she was dating a pastor who was assisting her to build a house at East Legon has said that she made this public because some people were blackmailing the preacher.

Former president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama joined Rev. Stephen Wengam, the leader and founder of the Assemblies of God Cedar Mountain Chapel to celebrate their 12th anniversary at their church located as East Legon.
The church also used the opportunity to break grounds for the construction of their 6,000 Cedar Mountain Cathedral, Children’s Chapel and an 8-storey administration complex.
Speaking during the celebrations on Sunday, October 2nd, Rev. Stephen Wengam stated that the new facility would host two historic events in the history of Assemblies of God in Ghana if completed on time.
The construction of this cathedral is historic and would serve Assemblies of God Ghana in future. This facility if completed on time would serve as a world-class facility to host the World Missions Conference in 2024 then in 2026, we will be hosting the World Fellowship Assemblies of God Conference. We can’t bring the whole world here because we are 70 million members, the largest Pentecostal church worldwide.
Rev. Stephen Wengam also in his address urged the congregation not to relent in their prayers to see the 6,000 Cedar Mountain Cathedral constructed by 2024.
He also expressed his gratitude to the former president, John Dramani Mahama for standing with the church for over a decade when they first moved to their old church at American House to this day.
The former president who has been a devoted member of the Assembly of God’s Church expressed his appreciation to the church for his role in his life and family. According to him, the new facility would be one of the greatest edifices to the glory of God.
“I’m grateful to someone who I consider as brother and friend for inviting me to the breaking grounds of what is probably be the greatest edifice to the glory of God.
“I keep saying that the principal work of God’s shepherds looking after the flock is to teach the word, spread the gospel and plant churches that is what it’s all about, any other talent is a bonus,” H.E John Mahama stated.
“But for these two people [Rev. Stephen Wengam and Rev. Ernest Adjei], they preach the word as if they open your head and put the word into it. I’m used to addressing huge crowds at rallies but when you come and stand at the altar of God to preach it is a different curtain of fate. So when they do it effortlessly it amazes me and I believe it is an unction from God,” he added.
Cedar Mountain Chapel started at a rooftop at East Legon and moved to a Guest Hotel through to American House before arriving at the Cedar City they have built to God’s glory at East Legon.
