Ghana’s Black Stars to participate in a four-team competition in England – Dr. Randy Abbey

Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Dr. Randy Abbey, has announced that the team will participate in a four-nation tournament in June 2025.

He explained that these friendly matches will help the technical team maintain the squad’s fitness and assess other players.

In an interview with 3Sports, Dr. Abbey revealed that the tournament will be held in England before the 2026 World Cup qualifiers resume in September 2025.

“Fortunately, the technical team and management will have the opportunity to further work on the team because, in June, we don’t have qualifiers. So, we’re playing a four-nation friendly in England. And I’m sure it will be an opportunity for the coaches to do some further work on the team.

“We’re hoping that some of the players who are injured will also be back and will be able to get an opportunity to play at least two games before September,” he said.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) lauded the team for their victories against Chad and Madagascar.

“I can also appreciate why people were a bit apprehensive about the game. This is a team that had gone six games without a win in the AFCON qualifiers. After Chad, they said, ‘Oh, well, this is just Chad.’

“If you look at Madagascar’s previous performance, having gone away to win 4-1 against one of the teams that was also doing quite well in the group, it was a difficult game. But the entire team was determined to make up for not qualifying for the AFCON,” he added.

After playing six matches in the World Cup qualifiers, Ghana sits at the top of Group I with 15 points. Madagascar follows in second place with 10 points, while Mali is in third with 9 points.

  • Palmer not fit for England games – Chelsea boss Maresca

Palmer not fit for England games – Chelsea boss Maresca

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that Cole Palmer is likely to miss England’s World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia due to a muscle injury.

Palmer suffered the injury during training and was unavailable for Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal on Sunday.

This was the first time Chelsea played without him since April last year, when they suffered a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Maresca believes it is unlikely that Palmer will be able to join Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.

“I don’t think [he will be fit for England] to be honest,” Maresca said after the Arsenal defeat.

“His injury is from yesterday’s session. It’s a muscular problem…

“He needs a scan and the scan is planned for Monday morning.”

As well as Parker, Chelsea were also without striker Nicolas Jackson and winger Noni Madueke on Sunday – and Maresca rued the absent trio.

“It’s a huge difference. The three players who have the most goals for us [are] Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke, none of them were inside the pitch,” Maresca said.

“Two of them it’s already long term that they have been out. It’s normal that offensively that we can struggle a little bit.

“I think even until today we are second or third best attacking in the league. We’re doing well with the other players but we could do better with the players that are in this moment injured.”

Palmer has been involved in 20 of Chelsea’s 53 league goals this season, scoring 14 and assisting six. However, he has not found the back of the net in his last seven Premier League matches.

Maresca believes that taking a break could help him regain his top form.

“We don’t wish for a player’s injury but in Cole’s case at this moment, probably give him some rest physically and mentally it could be good,” added Maresca.

England play Albania on Friday in their first match under new head coach Tuchel as they start their qualification campaign for the World Cup in 2026, before playing Latvia at Wembley.

  • Ireland loses to England by 5 goals to nil

Ireland loses to England by 5 goals to nil

England ended their Nations League campaign on a high note with a commanding 5-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland at Wembley, securing promotion to League A and bringing Lee Carsley’s tenure as interim head coach to a successful close.

Carsley, who stepped up to lead the senior team after Gareth Southgate’s resignation in July, wrapped up his six-match stint with five wins and one defeat. Reflecting on the match, he spoke of his relief at guiding England back to the top tier of the Nations League.

“I definitely felt like I have been out of my comfort zone but not beyond my capabilities,” Carsley said. “I never felt at any point I was drowning or I was struggling. I’ve taken the confidence that myself and the rest of the staff will be OK. I think we have got stronger as the [international] windows have gone on.”

The emphatic win also marked Carsley’s farewell to the senior side as Thomas Tuchel prepares to take over as England’s head coach on January 1.

    https://twitter.com/England/status/1858221825680933103

Carsley’s sole loss came in October against Greece, a result he admitted still stings. “I’m still gutted about the Greece game at home,” he said. “Even though we won five of the six, I straight away go back to that game we should have won at Wembley. It’s definitely a lonely place in that dugout when you’re not winning at Wembley.”

Despite the setback, Carsley found positives in his tenure, including the integration of younger players. He handed debuts to eight players and fielded seven from the starting lineup that won the European Under-21 Championship under his guidance in 2023.

“We have tried to change things,” Carsley noted. “We have tried to adapt and move on the style, the way that we play, the control, the amount of possession we have, the amount of chances we create. There has been no resistance to that. If anything, they have taken that on.”

    https://twitter.com/England/status/1858434802661077408

Carsley also praised the team’s resilience and energy in the final match. “I spoke to the players at half-time at 0-0 and I was really happy with the way the crowd responded to the players as they went off the pitch. I said, ‘We’re going to score. I’ve got total belief that you are going to score, so just keep going.’ It was pleasing to get five goals.”

The promotion to League A means Tuchel will have a smoother start, focusing on the 2026 World Cup qualifiers without the distraction of Nations League playoffs. For Carsley, the journey has been a challenging but fulfilling experience.

“It’d be fair to say there’s a bit of relief,” he admitted. “It’s good that we’ve finished the campaign with such a strong performance.”

  • Germany beat England at Wembley Stadium

Germany beat England at Wembley Stadium

Germany secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over England at Wembley Stadium, as the hosts kicked off their preparations for the upcoming European Championship.

Despite a spirited fightback, England’s defensive weaknesses were exposed, leading to a disappointing result.

Fans were treated to a high-energy match, with Germany racing to a commanding 3-0 lead within the first half hour. England’s Georgia Stanway managed to pull two goals back, but defensive errors allowed Germany to extend their lead once more, ultimately sealing the win.

“It’s one for the fans but not one for us,” Stanway reflected after the match, emphasizing the need for improvement as they gear up for Euro 2025.

The encounter highlighted critical areas for England to address, as coach Sarina Wiegman acknowledged the need for tactical adjustments ahead of their title defense in Switzerland next summer.

  • Saka out of England squad due to injury on right leg

Saka out of England squad due to injury on right leg

Bukayo Saka has withdrawn from the England squad for Sunday’s Nations League match against Finland after sustaining an injury to his right leg.

The 23-year-old Arsenal winger, who was substituted in the second half of Thursday’s game against Greece, has returned to his club for further assessment.

Saka, a key player for Arsenal this season with three goals in 10 appearances across all competitions, will be aiming to recover before Arsenal’s next match against Bournemouth on October 19, following the international break.

In another update, Liverpool’s Curtis Jones, who was called up to the England squad earlier this week, has also withdrawn due to a personal commitment.

Meanwhile, captain Harry Kane and midfielder Jack Grealish returned to training on Saturday after missing the Greece game with minor knocks. The 22-man squad is set to travel to Helsinki on Saturday afternoon to prepare for Sunday’s fixture, which kicks off at 17:00 BST.

Lee Carsley’s side is currently second in League B Group 2, having accumulated six points from their first three matches.

  • Arsenal’s world-record bid for Walsh turned down by Barca

Arsenal’s world-record bid for Walsh turned down by Barca

Arsenal’s late attempt to sign England midfielder Keira Walsh from Barcelona, in what would have been a world-record deal, has been rejected by the European champions.

The 27-year-old, who has one year left on her contract, remains a pivotal part of Barcelona’s squad despite indicating she does not intend to renew her contract next summer.

According to reports from Spanish media, Arsenal‘s bid was valued at £930,000, a figure that would have surpassed the current world record for a women’s transfer.

However, Barcelona were not prepared to let go of the England international, leaving Arsenal without their target as the Women’s Super League (WSL) transfer window closed at 23:00 BST on Friday.

Barcelona, who still had until Monday to secure a replacement if they had accepted the bid, made it clear that Walsh remains integral to their plans for the season.

Barca head coach Pere Romeu underscored Walsh’s importance, saying, “There’s no case for Keira leaving. She’s been with us throughout pre-season and is a key player for us. She totally gets our style of play, is super professional, and has shown an amazing attitude and commitment from day one. So, we’re definitely counting on her this season.”

Walsh, who joined Barcelona from Manchester City in 2022 for a then-world record fee of £400,000, has been instrumental in the club’s recent success, helping them secure back-to-back league and European titles. She has already played a crucial role this season, providing an assist in Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Real Sociedad on Friday.

Despite Walsh’s decision not to renew her contract, Barcelona appear confident in keeping her for the remainder of the season. Without a contract extension, Walsh would likely leave on a free transfer next summer unless the club can convince her otherwise.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Walsh was part of their bid to strengthen their squad, and if successful, it would have marked the most expensive transfer in women’s football. The current record for a women’s player is held by Zambia’s Racheal Kundananji, who transferred to Bay FC from Madrid CFF for £685,000 in February.

As the transfer window closes, Walsh’s immediate future lies with Barcelona, where she will continue to contribute to their ambitious campaign for more domestic and European silverware.

  • Harry Kane makes history by scoring two goals on 100th appearance for England

Harry Kane makes history by scoring two goals on 100th appearance for England

Captain Harry Kane made history by becoming the first player to score twice on his 100th appearance for England, leading the Three Lions to a memorable 2-0 victory over Finland in the UEFA Nations League at Wembley.

Kane’s brace secured his place among England‘s all-time greats, as he netted his 67th and 68th international goals in a dominant second-half display.

The Bayern Munich striker’s first goal came with an emphatic strike that cannoned in off the underside of the bar, before he followed it up with a well-placed curling effort to cap off a fine performance.

With his two goals, Kane joined an elite group of players—Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton—who also found the net on their 100th appearance for the national team.

“I don’t think I was even thinking of 100 caps when I was on loan at Millwall, Norwich, and Leicester,” Kane reflected after the game. “From being a young age, from being doubted to go on and do what I have done, I just think that helps keep you focused and motivated.”

Kane, now on 68 goals for England, stands second only to Rooney (120 caps) and Peter Shilton (125 caps) in terms of total appearances among the modern era’s top international players. Before kickoff, Kane was presented with a golden cap to commemorate his century of appearances, and he fittingly wore golden boots during the match to mark the special occasion.

“The night belongs to him and his golden boots—so fitting for Kane,” said former England defender Matthew Upson on BBC Radio 5 Live. “Two super-sharp finishes. The first one was hit with venom and power, the second was a real centre-forward’s finish. That’s the moment of the game.”

While Kane’s performance was the highlight of the night, his participation in the game was not guaranteed until just days before. BBC commentator Ian Dennis revealed that there had been uncertainty around Kane’s inclusion in the starting lineup for this landmark match.

“When I spoke with the England captain at the team hotel on Friday in Dublin, he told me they were looking to celebrate his 100th appearance in October,” Dennis shared. “At that time, he wasn’t sure he would start against Finland.”

Ultimately, Kane took his place in the starting eleven, and his family traveled from Munich to witness the historic moment. Kane’s wife Kate, along with three of their four children, attended the match, though the emotional occasion proved overwhelming for his three-year-old son Louie, who was in tears before the game.

Kane’s daughters Ivy and Vivienne stood alongside their father as mascots, creating a special family moment in the Wembley tunnel.

Reflecting on his achievement, Kane expressed pride at joining an illustrious group of players who have earned 100 caps for England. “When you look at the list [of players with 100 caps], it is a list of some of our greatest players,” he said. “I’m sure when I’m retired, I’ll look back on this with immense pride.”

Kane’s ambition remains undimmed, as he now sets his sights on an even greater milestone—scoring 100 goals for England. “It is definitely there and definitely possible,” he said, outlining his target.

“I feel like I am in a good place and these are good targets to try to reach. Some people may see them as unrealistic, but I would rather go for something unrealistic and not quite make it rather than be comfortable just saying I will be happy with 70 or 80 goals.”

With two goals on his 100th appearance, Harry Kane has not only cemented his place in England’s footballing history but also set his sights on reaching even greater heights in the years to come.

  • Jack Grealish warned of probable jeers from Irish fans ahead of match in Dublin

Jack Grealish warned of probable jeers from Irish fans ahead of match in Dublin

Jack Grealish, who initially played for Ireland at the youth level before switching his allegiance to England, is expected to face a hostile reception from Irish fans during Saturday’s Nations League match in Dublin.

Ireland striker Callum Robinson, who made the reverse switch from England’s youth teams to represent Ireland, acknowledged the likelihood of Grealish receiving some abuse from the home crowd.

The Manchester City forward, who was initially left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad by former head coach Gareth Southgate, was recently recalled by interim manager Lee Carsley for the upcoming fixtures against Ireland and Finland.

Despite the anticipated tough reception, Robinson believes the 28-year-old Grealish is prepared to handle the pressure.

“I think he’ll be getting ready for a bit of abuse, but that’s part of it; it’s part of the game,” Robinson, Grealish’s former teammate at Aston Villa, said on Tuesday.

“He’s old enough, and with being a senior player now, that stuff’s going to come.

“I’d be surprised if he doesn’t because I think he gets booed anywhere he goes anyway, even in England.”

  • Ex-England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson dies at 76 following an illness

Ex-England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson dies at 76 following an illness

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has died at the age of 76.

Eriksson, the first non-British manager of the England team, led the Three Lions to the quarter-finals at three major tournaments during his five-year spell in charge between 2001 and 2006.

In January Eriksson said he had “at best” a year to live after being diagnosed with cancer.

His family said on Monday: “Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away. After a long illness, SGE died during the morning at home, surrounded by family.”

Sven-Göran Eriksson, the Swedish football manager, had an illustrious career that saw him manage 12 clubs, including Manchester City, Leicester City, AS Roma, and Lazio, amassing 18 trophies along the way.

Eriksson’s international experience includes leading the national teams of Mexico, the Ivory Coast, and the Philippines. After retiring as a player at the young age of 27, Eriksson launched his managerial career with Degerfors in 1977.

He then joined Gothenburg, where he clinched the Swedish title, two Swedish Cups, and the 1982 UEFA Cup.

Eriksson’s success continued with two stints at Portuguese powerhouse Benfica and roles at several top Italian clubs, including Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, and Lazio.

At Lazio, he secured seven trophies, highlighted by the Serie A title, two Italian Cups, and the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

Following a recent diagnosis, Eriksson spent the past year visiting some of his former clubs, including Lazio and Sampdoria.

In March, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by helping to lead a Liverpool Legends team to a 4-2 victory over an Ajax Legends side at Anfield, a particularly special moment for the lifelong Liverpool fan.

Eriksson shared a heartfelt message at the end of his newly released documentary film, “Sven,” which debuted earlier this month.

He said: “I hope you will remember me as a positive guy trying to do everything he could.

“Don’t be sorry, smile. Thank you for everything, coaches, players, the crowds—it’s been fantastic. Take care of yourself and take care of your life. And live it.”

  • Carsley appointed interim England manager

    Carsley appointed interim England manager

Lee Carsley has been appointed as the interim manager for England’s upcoming Nations League fixtures as the Football Association (FA) continues its search for a permanent successor to Gareth Southgate.

Carsley, who is transitioning from his role as England Under-21 manager, will lead the senior team in September. This move follows Southgate’s resignation, which came two days after England’s defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final last month.

“Given my familiarity with the players and the international football calendar, it’s logical for me to step in while the FA completes its search for a new manager,” Carsley stated.

“My primary focus is on maintaining continuity and our objective is to achieve promotion in the UEFA Nations League.”

The 50-year-old Carsley enjoyed a distinguished career as a Premier League midfielder with clubs such as Derby and Everton. After transitioning into management, he had stints with Coventry, Brentford, and Birmingham as a caretaker. He took charge of England Under-20s in 2020 and later became the England Under-21 manager, leading the team to victory in the European Championship in 2023, their first title in 39 years.

England’s upcoming fixtures include a match against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on September 7, followed by a home game against Finland three days later. Carsley, who earned 40 caps for the Republic of Ireland during his playing career, is set to manage these games.

The FA has indicated that Carsley will oversee the team for these matches and possibly through the autumn, while the search for a new permanent head coach continues. FA chief executive Mark Bullingham expressed confidence in Carsley’s capabilities.

“Lee is a highly respected coach who is well-acquainted with most of our current senior squad from his previous roles,” Bullingham said. “He represents a strong interim solution, and we trust he will manage the Nations League games effectively.”

Carsley follows in the footsteps of Howard Wilkinson, Stuart Pearce, and Southgate, who all transitioned from managing youth teams to leading the senior squad. Southgate, who initially took on the role on an interim basis, secured the position permanently and led England through significant tournaments, including World Cup semi-finals and Euros finals.

The FA has posted a job advertisement for the permanent role and will proceed with its recruitment process. Meanwhile, Ben Futcher will assume the role of England Under-21 manager, with details of the respective backroom teams to be announced.

  • Lee Carsley set to take over England job as interim manager

Lee Carsley set to take over England job as interim manager

England Under-21 manager Lee Carsley is anticipated to take over as interim head coach of the senior national team following Gareth Southgate’s departure.

The Football Association (FA) is actively searching for a new permanent manager after Southgate left his position following England’s defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

With upcoming Nations League fixtures against the Republic of Ireland and Finland, the FA needs a temporary solution, and BBC Sport reports that Carsley is set to be appointed on an interim basis.

While Carsley is considered a strong candidate for the permanent role, Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott has expressed support for this idea.

However, the FA is also considering foreign candidates, despite Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola having already declined the opportunity.

Carsley might see this as a promising chance to transition from the Under-21s to the senior team, following the paths of previous managers like Southgate, Stuart Pearce, and Howard Wilkinson.

After leading the U21s to European Championship success last year, Carsley will aim to secure victories in the forthcoming Nations League matches.

  • Chelsea’s Gallagher set for £33m transfer to Atletico Madrid

Chelsea’s Gallagher set for £33m transfer to Atletico Madrid

Blues had accepted a £33m offer from Atlético Madrid last week, but there were significant concerns about whether the England international was willing to make the move.

However, on Sunday night, Gallagher, 24, informed Atlético officials that he is happy to make the switch.

The England international is now set to fly to complete his medical and contract signing, ending his 18-year tenure at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had proposed a two-year contract with an option for an additional year, but Gallagher found it unfavorable due to both the contract length and the lesser role he was offered.

A natural divide had emerged between Gallagher and Chelsea, as he was seen as a poor fit for new manager Enzo Maresca’s possession-based style of play and would not be a regular starter under the Italian.

Gallagher, who played five matches at Euro 2024, has less than one year remaining on his current Chelsea deal.

Chelsea preferred to sell Gallagher overseas rather than to an English rival, which allowed Atlético to secure a cut-price deal.

  • Ex-England cricketer Thorpe dies at 55

Ex-England cricketer Thorpe dies at 55

Former England and Surrey cricketer Graham Thorpe has passed away at the age of 55, it has been announced.

Thorpe, who represented England in 100 Test matches from 1993 to 2005, also played in 82 one-day internationals.

The elegant left-handed batsman accumulated 6,744 Test runs for England, hitting 16 centuries with an average of 44.66.

Tributes have poured in from current England captain Ben Stokes, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and Surrey.

“There seem to be no appropriate words to describe the deep shock we feel at Graham’s death,” the ECB said in a statement.

“More than one of England’s finest-ever batters, he was a beloved member of the cricket family and revered by fans all over the world.

“His skill was unquestioned, and his abilities and achievements across a 13-year international career brought so much happiness to his team-mates and England and Surrey CCC supporters alike.

“Later, as a coach, he guided the best England men’s talent to some incredible victories across all formats of the game.

“The cricket world is in mourning today. Our hearts go out to his wife Amanda, his children, father Geoff, and all of his family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time.

“We will always remember Graham for his extraordinary contributions to the sport.”

Thorpe spent his entire first-class playing career at Surrey, whom he represented from 1988 to 2005.

Surrey chair Oli Slipper said Thorpe “is one of the great sons” of the county and “there is an overwhelming sadness that he will not walk through the gates of the Oval again”.

Surrey chief executive Steve Elworthy added: “He achieved remarkable feats for club and country and was a hero to so many cricket fans.”

Thorpe made a memorable start to his Test career, scoring an unbeaten 114 in the second innings against Australia in 1993.

His highest Test score was 200 not out, achieved against New Zealand in 2002.

After retiring from playing in 2005, Thorpe transitioned to coaching in Australia, starting with New South Wales.

He then joined the England coaching staff, where he served from 2010 to 2022.

In March 2022, Thorpe was appointed as the head coach of Afghanistan.

However, before he could take up the role, he was hospitalized with a serious illness.

  • “No club, no country for now” – Klopp dismisses England, USMNT coaching links

“No club, no country for now” – Klopp dismisses England, USMNT coaching links

Jürgen Klopp has dismissed the possibility of taking on the roles of head coach for the United States and England men’s national teams, declaring he has no plans to return to coaching after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season.

The 57-year-old has been heavily linked to the USMNT position following the July firing of Gregg Berhalter after the team’s group stage exit at the Copa América, which was held in the U.S.

Klopp has also been mentioned as a possible replacement for Gareth Southgate, who will step down as England’s coach after eight years following Euro 2024.

Since his departure from Liverpool in May, after nearly nine years at Anfield, Klopp has expressed no interest in resuming his coaching career and hinted that his break from football might be permanent.

“As of today, that’s it for me as a coach,” Klopp said at the International Coaches’ Congress in Wurzburg, Germany.

“I didn’t quit on a whim, but it was a general decision. I’ve also coached the best clubs in the world.

“Maybe we can talk about it again in a few months. I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and contacts. Let’s see what else there is for me.”

Sources told ESPN earlier this month that Klopp was determined to have at least 12 months away from the game after leaving Liverpool. Sources also said that he may also choose not to return to football in a coaching capacity.

But despite the links to the USMNT and England jobs, Klopp said that he has no offers on the table.
“At the moment, there is nothing at all in terms of jobs,” he said. “No club, no country.

“A few people must not have heard this part, and it would be the biggest loss of face in the history of football if I said, ‘I’ll make an exception for you now.’

“I’m going to do some work. I’m too young to only do padel tennis and grandchildren. Will that be coach again? I would actually rule that out at the moment.

“Let’s see what it will look like in a few months, but nothing is coming through at the moment.”

  • Euro 2024: Heartbroken Grealish speaks on pains of England call-up snub

Jack Grealish has expressed his heartbreak over being excluded from England’s squad for the European Championship, stating that being left out by Gareth Southgate was devastating for him.

This comes after Gareth Southgate, the England manager, announced his final squad list for the tournament, and Grealish’s name was notably absent.

Despite having a successful season with Manchester City, Grealish did not make the cut, which led to widespread surprise and disappointment among fans and analysts.

“When you are on your holidays, every time you turn on the phone or the TV you just see it [the tournament], so it was hard not to see,” Grealish said.

“I’ll be honest, football-wise it was the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to deal with in terms of my own career.

“I was absolutely heartbroken. For myself now moving forward, I have to just try and use that as motivation going into this season. I felt I should have been in the [England] squad.

“I feel like I offer something different to players in the England squad. But it is what it is.

“As I said, it was the hardest moment for me as a footballer. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my career.

‘Agent’ Bellingham allegedly attempting to convince Trent Alexander-Arnold to join Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham might be transitioning into an agent role, as the Real Madrid star was recently seen dining with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is linked with a move to the Blancos, in Los Angeles.

Both players are enjoying a well-deserved break following intense domestic and international seasons. Bellingham played a key role in Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League victories in 2023-24, while Alexander-Arnold contributed to another Carabao Cup win for Jurgen Klopp in his final season at Liverpool.

The duo also featured in England’s journey to the Euro 2024 final, where they experienced another setback as Spain clinched the trophy. Their shared experiences have forged a strong connection, and they are now vacationing together in the U.S.

Earlier, it was reported that Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson had tried to persuade Bellingham to join Liverpool when he was leaving Borussia Dortmund. Instead, the 20-year-old midfielder opted for Spain, and now the situation has shifted.

Alexander-Arnold is in the final year of his contract with Liverpool, and rumors of a move to Santiago Bernabeu have surfaced. The Mirror has obtained footage of the Liverpool right-back dining with Bellingham in LA, which could indicate discussions about future moves.

Liverpool is expected to negotiate terms with Alexander-Arnold soon as they embark on a new era under Dutch coach Arne Slot. If he does not sign a new deal, he will be free to discuss pre-contract agreements with clubs outside England starting in January, potentially moving toward free agency.

Kyle Walker’s wife gives cheating husband ‘one last chance’ to save marriage; there are conditions

Kyle Walker’s estranged wife, Annie Kilner, is reportedly ready to give the England international one last chance to save their marriage.

As reported by The Mirror, the Manchester City defender is on his final warning following multiple cheating scandals involving ex-Lauryn Goodman. To reconcile, the 34-year-old must comply with a strict set of ‘rules and non-negotiables,’ including a commitment to remain faithful.

This comes after Walker’s recent court appearance over childcare and maintenance issues with Goodman, months after it was revealed he had fathered a second child with the influencer and model.

Despite the ongoing drama, Kilner showed her support for Walker in Germany during Euro 2024, where he was seen embracing her and their four children after England matches.

In January, Kilner had declared her separation from Walker via an Instagram post, saying: “I am posting this in response to growing recent media enquiries about my marriage to Kyle and in an effort to protect my family against the intensity of the media spotlight.

Sadly, after many years of marriage and three wonderful children together; I have decided to take some time away from Kyle.”

However, reconciliation may still be on the table. While Walker’s court battle with Goodman continues, the England defender plans to take a holiday following his participation in the Euros.

“We will be back” – Kobbie Mainoo’s message to England fans

English midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has reassured England fans that the Three Lions “will be back” following their heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

This marks the second consecutive time England has fallen short in the Euro final.

Spain’s Nico Williams opened the scoring, with England’s Cole Palmer equalising shortly after. However, Mikel Oyarzabal’s late strike clinched Spain’s fourth European Championship title.

The Manchester United teenager, who impressed during the tournament, was deeply affected by the loss but expressed optimism in a social media post, promising that England will make a strong comeback in future attempts to win the tournament.

“Devastated to fall short but proud and grateful to compete in my first major international tournament for my country. We will be back,” Mainoo shared on Instagram.

Mainoo started the tournament as a substitute for England but soon became a crucial player in the starting lineup as the team advanced to the knockout stages.

Since the inception of the European Championship in 1960, England has yet to secure a victory in the tournament.

  • England’s Southgate steps down after 2024 Euros loss

Gareth Southgate has resigned as England’s head coach following their defeat to Spain in the 2024 European Championship final.

In a statement, the former Middlesbrough manager expressed, “It’s time for change and for a new chapter.”

The official England handle on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed Southgate’s departure, bidding farewell to the manager after almost a decade in charge.

“After 102 games and almost eight years in charge, Gareth Southgate has announced he is to leave his role as manager of the Three Lions,” the statement reads.

Gareth Southgate became the head coach of the England national team in 2016 after a successful stint with the U21 team from 2013 to 2016.

During his eight-year leadership, he guided England to a fourth-place finish at the World Cup, their best performance since 1990, and reached the finals of the Euros twice consecutively.

He came close to victory in the 2020 Euros but lost to Italy on penalties. His second final defeat occurred against Spain on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

    Read Southgate’s statement below

“As a proud Englishman, it has been the honour of my life to play for England and to manage England. It has meant everything to me, and I have given it my all.

“But it’s time for change, and for a new chapter. Sunday’s final in Berlin against Spain was my final game as England manager.

“I joined the FA in 2011, determined to improve English football. In that time, including eight years as England men’s manager, I have been supported by some brilliant people who have my heartfelt thanks.

“I could not have had anyone better alongside me than Steve Holland. He is one of the most talented coaches of his generation, and has been immense.

“I have had the privilege of leading a large group of players in 102 games. Every one of them has been proud to wear the three lions on their shirts, and they have been a credit to their country in so many ways.

“The squad we took to Germany is full of exciting young talent and they can win the trophy we all dream of.

I am so proud of them, and I hope we get behind the players and the team at St. George’s Park and the FA who strive every day to improve English football, and understand the power football has to drive positive change.

“My special thanks go to the backroom staff who have provided the players and me with unstinting support over the last eight years. Their hard work and commitment inspire me every day, and I am so grateful to them—the brilliant ‘team behind the team’.

“We have the best fans in the world, and their support has meant the world to me. I’m an England fan and I always will be.

“I look forward to watching and celebrating as the players go on to create more special memories and to connect and inspire the nation as we know they can.

“Thank you, England – for everything.”

Euro 2024: Spain extends England’s 58 years of no trophy

England‘s hopes of ending their 58-year trophy drought were dashed as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Spain in the Euro 2024 final in Berlin.

Despite a spirited comeback, Mikel Oyarzabal’s late strike sealed Spain’s victory, leaving England’s 1966 World Cup triumph as their only men’s major trophy.

In a thrilling encounter, Spain took the lead through Nico Williams early in the second half. England responded with a brilliant equalizer from Cole Palmer, raising hopes of extra time. However, Oyarzabal’s goal four minutes from time secured Spain’s win.

This defeat marks the second consecutive European Championship final loss for Gareth Southgate’s side, following their penalty shootout heartbreak against Italy in 2021. Before these recent finals, England’s only major tournament final appearance was in 1966.

The Three Lions have yet to win a senior football tournament abroad, with their 1966 World Cup and the Women’s Euro 2022 victories both achieved at Wembley.

Southgate’s future remains uncertain as his contract runs until the end of the year. This could potentially be his final major tournament after eight years at the helm. Despite a slow start in Germany, with performances initially criticized and close calls in the knockout stages, England fans dared to dream again until their defeat by Spain.

England’s 1966 World Cup victory, a 4-2 win over West Germany with Geoff Hurst’s hat-trick, remains their sole success. Since then, England has experienced a series of near misses and heartbreaks in major tournaments, including Diego Maradona’s infamous handball in 1986 and penalty shootout losses to Germany in 1990 and 1996, the latter seeing Southgate himself miss a crucial penalty.

There were also years of failing to qualify, such as for the 1994 World Cup and the 2008 Euros, and group-stage exits. The narrative seemed to shift in 2021 when England reached the Euro 2020 final, although most of their matches were at Wembley. Despite taking an early lead against Italy, they lost on penalties after extra time.

This year’s Euro campaign was a rollercoaster. After a win over Serbia, England drew against Denmark and Slovenia in the group stage, narrowly avoiding elimination. The last-16 match against Slovakia saw Jude Bellingham’s injury-time overhead kick force extra time, with Harry Kane scoring the winner.

Southgate’s tactical shift to a wing-back system against Switzerland in the quarter-finals proved crucial. Bukayo Saka’s late goal saved England, who then won on penalties. The semi-final against the Netherlands saw another dramatic finish, with Ollie Watkins scoring in the 90th minute to send England to the final.

Despite these thrilling comebacks, England fell short in the final, and the team’s future under Southgate is uncertain. His contract ends this year, and he has yet to decide on his future.

“I don’t think now is a good time to make a decision like that,” Southgate said post-match. “I need to talk to the right people. It’s not for now.”

England will return to action on September 7th in Dublin against the Republic of Ireland for their first 2024-25 Nations League game, followed by a home match against Finland. These games will be in the second division of the Nations League after England’s relegation last season.

If Southgate were to depart at the end of his contract, he would oversee the remaining Nations League fixtures but leave before the 2026 World Cup qualifiers next year.

My “fantastic balance” – Southgate’s emotional tribute to long-time assistant Steve Holland

Gareth Southgate delivered a heartfelt tribute to his longtime assistant, Steve Holland, on the eve of the Euro 2024 final against Spain.

Their professional relationship began when Southgate encountered Holland during his time in youth development at the FA, while Holland served as an assistant to André Villas-Boas at Chelsea.

Impressed by Holland’s methods and innovation, Southgate invited him to join as assistant coach for the England U-21 team in 2013, allowing him to continue his role at Chelsea, thus marking the beginning of their enduring partnership.

Together with the England senior team, they have achieved notable milestones, including two European Championship finals and a World Cup semi-final.

Despite their shared football philosophies, they bring distinct styles and personalities to their roles: Holland tends to be more vocal with players, while Southgate adopts a more measured approach.

This combination has proven effective in motivating players to perform at their best.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oo8UK4voL4

“Firstly, I could not do it without him,” Southgate told reporters. “He is a fantastic balance for me. His strengths eat up my weaknesses. He is so meticulous in his preparation.

“We have grown so close. The trust between us is immense and I could not have anybody better alongside me. He has won the Champions League, he has won the Premier League, everything.

He is a proud Englishman like me and there is one medal missing. We have brilliant staff right across the board but clearly, our relationship is really, really strong.”

On Sunday, Southgate and Holland aim for European championship glory, relying on their combined strengths and strategic insights to guide the Three Lions to victory over Spain in Berlin.

Their previous disappointment at Wembley three years ago surely offered valuable lessons, which they now intend to leverage against Luis De La Fuente’s side.

“This is due to VAR; it really breaks football -Koeman fumes over Kane penalty after Dutch loss

Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman expressed strong disapproval of the video assistant referees (VAR) system, accusing it of “breaking football” after a controversial penalty decision in England’s favor during the Euro 2024 semi-final on Wednesday.

The Dutch team initially led with a powerful goal from Xavi Simons. However, England was given a chance to equalize when Harry Kane was fouled by Denzel Dumfries after missing a shot.

Initially, no penalty was awarded, but referee Felix Zwayer, upon advice from the VAR, reviewed the incident on the monitor and subsequently pointed to the spot.

Kane successfully converted the penalty, and substitute Ollie Watkins scored a decisive goal in the 90th minute, securing England’s spot in Sunday’s final against Spain.

“In my opinion, it should not have been a penalty,” said Koeman.

“He kicked the ball and the boots touched. I think that we cannot play properly and this is due to VAR. It really breaks football.”

Former England defender and ITV pundit Gary Neville felt the Netherlands had every right to feel aggrieved.

“As a defender, I think it’s an absolutely disgraceful decision,” he said.

“There’s no way that was a penalty. He just goes in naturally to block the shot. It’s not a penalty for me.”

Ex-England striker Alan Shearer said on BBC Radio 5 live: “There is no doubt that there is contact, but the defender [Dumfries] is trying to block the ball.

“The follow-through from Harry Kane makes the connection and I didn’t think it was a howler to be turned over.”

Netherlands and Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk also felt the penalty decision was the turning point in the game.

“I think the penalty moment is a big moment, England had some confidence out of it,” he added.

“I think so many decisions didn’t go our way, but I don’t want to speak about the referee.”

England secures a semi-final place with victory over Switzerland in 2024 Euros

England narrowly avoided a Euro 2024 exit and secured a spot in the semi-finals with a penalty shootout victory over Switzerland in Dusseldorf.

Gareth Southgate’s team, saved by Jude Bellingham’s late equalizer in the last 16 against Slovakia, faced another scare when Breel Embolo scored for Switzerland with just 15 minutes remaining.

Bukayo Saka responded with a stunning low shot to equalize five minutes later.

The match remained level after extra time, leading to a penalty shootout.

England’s flawless penalties and Jordan Pickford’s save of Manuel Akanji’s initial attempt paved the way for their win. Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Saka, and Ivan Toney all converted their penalties before Trent Alexander-Arnold sealed the victory with the decisive kick.

England will now face the Netherlands in Dortmund on Wednesday at 20:00 BST, marking their first major tournament meeting since Euro 96.

  • Euro 2024: Phil Foden worried about Southgate; he says he ‘feels sorry’

Euro 2024: Phil Foden worried about Southgate; he says he ‘feels sorry’

Phil Foden has expressed his sympathy for Gareth Southgate, stating that the England players should shoulder the blame for their disappointing Euro 2024 performances.

With a quarter-final against Switzerland approaching, the team is under intense pressure to improve following their underwhelming showing in the tournament’s early stages.

Although their dramatic victory over Slovakia on Sunday offered some relief from criticism, the focus is now on delivering a stronger performance against Switzerland.

Foden openly acknowledged England’s struggles and empathized with Southgate, stressing that the players need to take more responsibility on the field and that the manager should not be held solely accountable for the team’s poor displays.

Talking to reporters, Foden said: “I feel sorry for Gareth. In training, he has been telling us to press and be high up on the pitch.

Sometimes it has to come from the players. We have to be leaders and I feel like in games we could have got together more and worked out a solution. We have spoken about it more and if it happens again we can find a solution and adapt our press.

“The players have to take some of the blame. There has to be some leaders to get together. There is only so much the manager can do. He sets you up in a system and tells you how to press.

You never decide when a person is going to drop deep as well. The players have to adapt to what the other team is doing to be better. Hopefully, you will see a different side to us pressing wise.”

Southgate has voiced worries about the fitness of his squad, particularly concerning key players such as John Stones, who has been managing injuries.

Stones was observed with strapping on his right knee during training, heightening concerns about his readiness to play. Despite these obstacles, Foden maintains a positive outlook on England’s chances against Switzerland.

“You can prepare for a game but you can’t prepare for players moving out of position and making it awkward for you. Hopefully, going into this game we can get it right,” he said.

England’s path through Euro 2024 has been rocky, yet there’s optimism that the early matches’ lessons will translate into a better performance in the knockout rounds.

Foden’s candidness about the team’s flaws shows a mature attitude toward tackling their problems. As they gear up to face Switzerland, the emphasis is on unity, tactical precision, and a strong resolve to progress further in the tournament.

Euro 2024: Bellingham may escape ban for a fine after indecent behaviour towards Slovakia bench

Jude Bellingham is under investigation by UEFA for allegedly “breaching the basic rules of decent conduct” after making a crotch-grabbing gesture towards the Slovakia bench during England’s Euro 2024 round-of-16 victory in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on Sunday.

A source revealed that, despite the gesture following his stoppage-time equalizer, a ban from UEFA is unlikely. Instead, Bellingham, 21, could face a fine if found guilty.

Bellingham explained on social media that the gesture was an “inside joke to friends,” but UEFA has tasked its disciplinary body with investigating the incident.

In similar past cases, Cristiano Ronaldo and Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone were fined €20,000 for comparable gestures in the 2019 Champions League, but neither received a ban.

England is set to face Switzerland in the quarterfinals in Düsseldorf on Saturday.

In a statement issued on Monday, UEFA said: “A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding a potential violation of the basic rules of decent conduct by the English Football Association player, Jude Bellingham, having allegedly occurred in the scope of this match.

“Information on this matter will be made available in due course.”

UEFA has charged the English FA with supporter-related issues following the Slovakia game.

The investigation focuses on “lack of order or discipline among supporters” and incidents involving the “lighting of fireworks.”

  • Jude Bellingham sustains England’s Euro dreams after late victory against Slovakia

Jude Bellingham sustains England’s Euro dreams after late victory against Slovakia

Jude Bellingham delivered a moment of sheer brilliance to rescue England from the brink of elimination and secure a dramatic victory over Slovakia in Euro 2024, propelling them into the quarter-finals.

Facing a daunting deficit late in the game, England looked set to suffer a humiliating exit as Slovakia clung to a 1-0 lead secured by Ivan Schranz’s clinical finish in the 25th minute. The Slovakian defense had frustrated England throughout, limiting them to few clear chances.

However, it was Bellingham, celebrating his 21st birthday, who emerged as the hero for the Three Lions. In a display of audacious skill, he executed an exquisite overhead kick from Marc Guehi’s flicked header, stunning Slovakia and leveling the score in dramatic fashion.

Bellingham’s goal not only revived England‘s hopes but also injected newfound energy and belief into Gareth Southgate’s side. Just minutes into extra time, Harry Kane capitalized on England’s momentum with a close-range header, completing the turnaround and sealing a 2-1 victory.

The win sets up a tantalizing quarter-final clash with Switzerland, as England aim to build on their newfound resilience and momentum in the tournament.

Prior to Bellingham’s heroics, England had struggled to break down Slovakia’s resolute defense, with their performance drawing criticism for its lack of creativity and clinical edge. Despite efforts from Kane and Declan Rice hitting the woodwork, Slovakia appeared poised to cause a major upset.

Bellingham’s timely intervention not only saved England from potential humiliation but also sparked celebrations among fans who had endured a tense and disappointing match until that point.

Manager Gareth Southgate, who has faced scrutiny over team selection and tactics throughout Euro 2024, will now face further challenges as he prepares to navigate the quarter-finals without Marc Guehi. The defender, a standout performer despite the team’s struggles, will be suspended following his second yellow card in the match against Slovakia.

Guehi’s absence will undoubtedly be felt, especially given his composed presence alongside John Stones in defense. His performance, marred only by the lapse that led to Slovakia’s goal, underscored his importance to England’s backline.

As England reflect on their narrow escape and prepare to face a formidable Swiss side, questions linger about their ability to sustain their newfound momentum and improve upon their inconsistent performances thus far in the tournament.

The stage is now set for England to prove their mettle against Switzerland, with hopes resting on Bellingham’s heroics to serve as a turning point in their Euro 2024 campaign.

  • Phil Foden leaves England Euro 2024 camp for birth of third child

Phil Foden leaves England Euro 2024 camp for birth of third child

England midfielder Phil Foden has departed from the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 camp in Germany and returned to the UK due to a family matter concerning the imminent birth of his third child.

The Football Association (FA) confirmed in a statement that the Manchester City player had to leave the camp to attend to this pressing issue.

The FA expressed hopes that Foden would rejoin the squad by Sunday, which coincides with England’s last-16 match scheduled at 17:00 BST. Foden’s departure comes as he and his partner Rebecca Cooke are expecting their third child, as announced on Instagram in April.

The couple already has two children: five-year-old son Ronnie and two-year-old daughter True.

Despite his departure, Foden played a crucial role for England in the group stage of Euro 2024, starting in all three matches including the recent draw against Slovenia. Under the leadership of manager Gareth Southgate, England secured the top spot in Group C with five points from three games.

Looking ahead, England’s last-16 fixture will take place in Gelsenkirchen, with their opponent to be determined following the conclusion of Wednesday’s final group-stage matches.

  • England’s Southgate responds to trolls, calls for his dismissal

England’s Southgate responds to trolls, calls for his dismissal

Gareth Southgate has expressed concern over the “unusual atmosphere” surrounding the England team after they faced boos despite topping Group C.

He urged supporters to stand behind the team, regardless of their feelings towards him personally.

England managed only four shots on target in a lackluster performance during the latest match, yet they secured top spot in the group as Denmark drew with Serbia.

The team received boos from fans both at half-time and full-time at the RheinEnergieSTADION. After the game, Southgate approached the England supporters to show his appreciation; while some reacted positively, others booed and a few beer cups were thrown towards him.

Southgate’s contract with the Football Association expires in December, with a decision on his future to be made after the tournament concludes.

Some fans have questioned whether he is still the right man to lead England after eight years in charge and Southgate said of the full-time reaction: “I understand it. I’m not going to back away from it. The most important thing here is that the supporters stay with the team.

“I understand the narrative towards me and that’s better for than it being towards them. But it is creating an unusual environment to operate in. I’ve not seen any team qualify and receive similar.

“I recognise that when you have moments at the end of the game, I’m asking the players to be fearless, I’m not going to back down from going over and thanking the fans who were brilliant during the game.

“They might feel differently towards me. But for me, we only will succeed if we are together. That energy is crucial for the team and it is so important they stay with the team, however they feel towards me.”

Asked what had changed about the environment around the team, Southgate replied: “I think probably expectation. We’ve made England over the last six or seven years fun again. I think it has been enjoyable for the players. We’ve got to be very, very careful that it stays that way.”

Despite the mixed reaction from fans, England captain Harry Kane noted an improvement in the team’s performance compared to their previous outing, a 1-1 draw against Denmark.

“That was the aim before the start of the tournament, come top of the group and control our destiny,” he told ITV. “I thought we played a lot better than the other games. We couldn’t just find that finish but we look forward to the next one.

“We created some half chances and there were some that we could maybe have done better.

“I think the boys who came on did really well and kept the energy high and that’s what we need. We need everyone chipping in and that’s what we are doing so far.

“These games are tough. We have been here before and stepped it up in the past when we have got to the knockouts. All games in this tournament are tough. It is going to be a difficult challenge ahead and we have enough ability to keep pushing.”

England must wait to learn their round-of-16 opponents but will play one of the four best third-placed in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday.

  • Euro 2024: Gareth Southgate in hot water as England squad families question his decisions

Earlier this month, England arrived in Germany for Euro 2024 with high expectations of winning the tournament at the Olympastadion in Berlin on July 14th.

Despite leading their group, their campaign has faced unexpected challenges, starting with a narrow 1-0 victory over Serbia followed by a frustrating 1-1 draw against Denmark.

According to reports from The Guardian, tensions have surfaced among the players’ families.

Allegedly, after the lackluster draw against Denmark, when the players reunited with their families in Frankfurt, there was palpable tension among them.

Surprisingly, the discord did not stem from the match result itself but rather from concerns that manager Gareth Southgate favors certain senior players over those in better current form.

While the report implies dissatisfaction among players due to perceived biases from Southgate, the reality of his squad selection for the Euros’ 26-man squad paints a different picture.

Notably, Southgate opted to leave out several established names in favor of rising talents such as Adam Wharton, Kobbie Mainoo, Marc Guehi, and Eberechi Eze.

As England prepares for their final group stage clash against Slovenia on June 25th, both the team management and players are focused on moving past any internal tensions and uniting to achieve success in the tournament.

  • England fail to secure their place in the Euro 2024 knockout stages

England fail to secure their place in the Euro 2024 knockout stages

England missed a prime opportunity to secure their spot in the Euro 2024 knockout stages as Group C winners, settling for a disappointing draw against Denmark in Frankfurt.

Despite an early lead, Gareth Southgate’s team delivered a lackluster performance, leaving them fortunate to escape with a point.

Harry Kane opened the scoring for England in the 18th minute, marking his fourth successive major tournament goal. However, instead of building on their advantage, England reverted to a defensive posture, allowing Denmark to dominate the proceedings. This cautious approach has been a recurring theme under Southgate’s management.

Denmark capitalized on England’s retreat, with Morten Hjulmand equalizing with a powerful 25-yard strike in the 34th minute. England’s response was limited, though Phil Foden did hit the post after the break. Despite remaining at the top of Group C, England’s performance against Denmark raised serious questions about their credentials as potential Euro 2024 favorites.

The match highlighted significant issues within the England squad, particularly in midfield, where they were consistently outmaneuvered by Denmark. Veteran midfielder Christian Eriksen orchestrated the game for Denmark, exposing the weaknesses in the central partnership of Declan Rice and Trent Alexander-Arnold. This combination, which appeared out of sync, is unlikely to be seen again in future matches.

Even Jude Bellingham, who had been instrumental in England’s previous victory over Serbia, struggled to make an impact. The overall disorganization and frequent errors on the pitch drew the ire of England fans, who voiced their displeasure with loud jeering and a hostile send-off at the final whistle.

Southgate’s frustration was evident as he made four substitutions with more than 20 minutes remaining, an uncharacteristic move for the usually measured manager. The decision to substitute Harry Kane in the 69th minute, with England still searching for a winner, was particularly surprising. Phil Foden, who had been England’s most threatening player, was also replaced, further perplexing fans and analysts alike.

England’s complaints about the playing surface, which deteriorated early in the match, offered little solace for their subpar performance. The team’s tendency to become subdued rather than inspired after scoring resurfaced, a flaw that nearly cost them against Serbia and proved costly against Denmark.

The draw leaves England needing significant improvements in their upcoming match against Slovenia to secure their place in the knockout stages. While they remain in contention, their display against Denmark was far from the standard required to make a serious impact in Euro 2024.

As the tournament progresses, England will need to address their tactical inconsistencies and rediscover the form that made them contenders. The path to success in Germany is still open, but only if Southgate and his team can learn from their mistakes and deliver performances worthy of their ambitions.

Kobbie Mainoo addresses rumours surrounding his interest to play for Ghana

England and Manchester United rising star Kobbie Mainoo has revealed the thought process behind his decision to choose between representing Ghana or England.

The 19-year-old, born in England to Ghanaian parents, had a breakthrough season under United manager Erik Ten Hag, appearing in 32 matches across all competitions and scoring 5 goals.

His impressive performances attracted interest from both the Ghana Football Association and the England Football Association, with Mainoo ultimately opting to play for England.

After making his competitive debut for England in their 1-0 victory over Serbia in the Euro 2024 opener, Mainoo explained the factors that influenced his choice.

“Obviously I’m proud of my Ghanaian heritage and there was speculation and what not but It has always been a dream to play for England so I’m happy to be here.

  • Why England no longer relies on Harry Kane as their playmaker

Why England no longer relies on Harry Kane as their playmaker

Harry Kane played a different role in England’s Euro 2024 victory over Serbia compared to his usual style, but it was equally crucial for the team.

Typically known for dropping deep and providing incisive passes for runners, Kane adjusted his approach in Gelsenkirchen.

Facing a deep-lying Serbian defense marking man-to-man, Kane explained that he stayed higher up the pitch early in the game.

This strategy aimed to create more space for England’s midfielders and forwards by drawing defenders away from them.

In the first 35 minutes, Kane had minimal touches but effectively acted as a focal point in attack, crucial for England’s game plan.

His presence kept Serbian defenders occupied, allowing England’s other players room to maneuver.

As the game progressed and England faced pressure in the second half, Kane’s role evolved. Instead of dropping deep to assist defensively, which risked leaving England without an outlet when they regained possession, Kane focused on holding up play, protecting the ball, and winning free-kicks.

While England sometimes rushed these set-piece opportunities, Kane’s experience underscored the need for composure in such moments to control the tempo of the game.

Reflecting on his performance, Kane acknowledged that different games may require him to adapt his positioning, highlighting the versatility needed from a center-forward.

His efforts in creating space and opportunities for teammates exemplified his commitment to team success, even when not directly involved in scoring chances.

Looking ahead, Kane’s role for England has evolved from his earlier days resembling his role at Tottenham Hotspur. With talented midfielders like Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold now providing creative playmaking, Kane’s focus includes facilitating their involvement in England’s attacking maneuvers.

Meet England’s self-made football hero, Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham’s impressive ascent continued as he secured England’s winning goal in their Euro 2024 opener against Serbia, with manager Gareth Southgate praising him as a player who “writes his own scripts.”

The 20-year-old Stourbridge native, currently playing for Real Madrid, is the first European player to participate in three major international tournaments before turning 21.

Bellingham has also scored in two of these tournaments, having netted a goal against Iran in the 2022 World Cup.

His 13th-minute header in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday proved to be the decisive goal of the match.

“I am willing to do whatever it takes and am ready to do everything to help the country win this football tournament,” said Bellingham afterwards.

BBC pundit Micah Richards, a former England international, said: “He’s taken the game by the scruff of the neck and this is what you need.

“His composure is remarkable. He’s the leader in this team at such a young age and he knows it. He’s got a great attitude, he’s got everything. I’m running out of superlatives for him. He manages the game really well.

“If he can keep that form throughout the tournament then he is the man we can rely on.”

Following a season where he secured both the Spanish title and the Champions League with his club, Bellingham is now the second favorite to win this year’s Ballon d’Or, the prestigious award given to the world’s best player.

If England triumphs at Euro 2024, he stands a strong chance of claiming that coveted honor.

“He’s come out today with the attitude knowing it’s his game,” said former England centre-back Rio Ferdinand on BBC One.

“He’s said ‘guys, this is my game and I am him’. That’s the vibe he’s given me with how he’s gesturing. You have to enjoy your great players.”

Bellingham left the pitch to a standing ovation from the travelling England fans late on.

“Jude Bellingham is made up of amazing people,” Bellingham said. “It’s not just me. It’s because I have such a great support network – my family, my friends, my team-mates. Playing football is the easiest part.

“I have got used to getting into the box, getting wide and trying to do that. I got into that habit at Madrid and I wanted to carry my form into the Euros.

“It’s a great start for me personally to get my confidence up, and to help the lads get the win is the most important thing.”

‘It’s all right’ being Jude Bellingham right now.

  • Euro 2024: England pick Kyle Walker as vice captain – Sources

Kyle Walker has been appointed as England’s new vice captain ahead of the European Championship in Germany, according to sources.

The 34-year-old was informed of Gareth Southgate’s decision earlier this month, taking on a vital leadership role in a squad that has seen significant changes since the 2022 World Cup.

Southgate has revamped his squad, with only half of the 26 players who went to Qatar making the cut for Euro 2024.

Jordan Henderson, who was previously the vice captain, has been omitted from the squad after struggling to regain fitness following a muscular injury at Ajax.

Walker, who has 83 international caps, is now the second-most-capped player in the squad behind captain Harry Kane, who has 91 caps. Other notable absentees include Harry Maguire and Raheem Sterling.

Kieran Trippier and Declan Rice have been included in Southgate’s new leadership group, which aims to help integrate the 12 players new to senior tournaments into the squad for Euro 2024.

Trippier led England against Bosnia in their first warm-up game, and Rice was named captain in March on his 50th international appearance.

In other news, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford confirmed that John Stones, who had been dealing with an ankle issue and missed training due to illness, is fit and ready to play in Sunday’s Group C opener against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen. Stones participated fully in Friday’s training session.

England are considered favourites by many bookmakers to win their first major men’s trophy in 58 years, and Pickford has encouraged his teammates to embrace the challenge and perform under the spotlight.

“[In] Russia in 2018, there was no pressure on us,” he said. “But to be a top, elite team, you have got to have pressure. You have got to deal with it. To be one of the favourites, you have got to enjoy that pressure.

“That’s our goal [to win the tournament] but the most important thing for us is to win the first game, get out of the group, game-by-game focus on each game as it comes because you can’t look too far ahead.

“Everyone’s goal is to lift that trophy but it takes a hell of a lot of hard work to get there. There’ll be nothing more proud than lifting that trophy and bringing it home for the fans but there is so much hard work to do first.

“I know all the England fans will be rooting for us. They are passionate; everywhere in the country will be rooting for us and they’ll be having a good few days on the booze so it’ll be good.”

  • Iceland dents England’s final preparations for Euro 2024

Iceland dents England’s final preparations for Euro 2024

England wrapped up their Euro 2024 preparations with a disappointing performance, suffering a defeat against Iceland at Wembley.

Manager Gareth Southgate made several changes to the team that won against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Monday, but the display was lackluster and disappointing.

Iceland, known for their victory over England at Euro 2016, took advantage of poor defending, with keeper Aaron Ramsdale, standing in for Jordan Pickford, possibly able to do better with Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson’s early goal.

England had their chances, with Harry Kane missing a great opportunity and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, among the better performers, also having opportunities. However, England looked rusty as they prepared for their Euro 2024 opener against Serbia on June 16.

Throughout the match, England appeared vulnerable at the back, and Iceland had chances to extend their lead.

Defender John Stones was substituted at half-time due to injury, raising concerns with Harry Maguire already ruled out of the tournament.

The loss to Iceland, ranked 72nd in the Fifa rankings, was met with jeers from the crowd, reflecting a poor performance. England’s only shot on target came late in the game, highlighting their struggles.

While the match was part of England’s preparations, the defeat to Iceland is concerning. The players received a muted send-off from the fans, indicating the disappointment in their performance.

Southgate will hope this match helped shake off some rust, but the team will need to improve significantly before Euro 2024 begins.

  • Pochettino reportedly to replace Southgate as England manager

Pochettino reportedly to replace Southgate as England manager

Mauricio Pochettino finds himself with a plethora of options for his next move after departing Chelsea at the conclusion of the season.

The Argentine manager has already begun contemplating his next steps following his departure from Stamford Bridge by mutual consent after just one season.

Pochettino has expressed interest in potentially taking over the England national team from Gareth Southgate, should the current Three Lions boss step down after Euro 2024.

Additionally, he is reportedly eyeing the managerial position at Manchester United, as per The Telegraph. Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad is also said to be interested in securing Pochettino’s services.

Pochettino has openly stated that he would welcome the opportunity to manage England, with the possibility of the role becoming available this summer. Southgate has hinted at retirement after Euro 2024 if England emerges victorious in the tournament.

However, Pochettino may receive alternative offers before such a scenario unfolds. Manchester United is expected to part ways with Erik ten Hag this summer, regardless of the outcome of the FA Cup final, and Pochettino is reportedly on their radar.

Under Pochettino’s guidance, Chelsea witnessed impressive attacking prowess from their young players in the Premier League this season, scoring a total of 51 goals from players under the age of 23.

This achievement marks a record in the competition’s history for the highest number of goals scored by a team in a single campaign by players of this age group.

Exiting Chelsea on a high note, Pochettino’s team concluded a challenging season with a winning streak that secured sixth place in the Premier League and European football for the upcoming season.

Joining the ranks of high-profile club managers departing their positions, including Thomas Tuchel, Massimiliano Allegri, Roberto De Zerbi, and Jurgen Klopp, Pochettino leaves Chelsea amidst a period of managerial transition.

As Chelsea embarks on the search for a new coach, they join the likes of Bayern Munich, Juventus, Brighton, and potentially Manchester United in seeking new leadership.

  • Euro 2024: Rashford, Henderson missing in provisional England squad list – Southgate explains

Euro 2024: Rashford, Henderson missing in provisional England squad list – Southgate explains

England manager Gareth Southgate has explained his decision to leave Marcus Rashford and Jordan Henderson out of his Euro 2024 squad.

Southgate announced his provisional 33-man squad for the tournament, but Rashford and Henderson, both regulars under his management, were notably absent.

Instead, Southgate surprised many by including five uncapped players: Jarrad Branthwaite, Curtis Jones, Jarell Quansah, Adam Wharton, and James Trafford.

Luke Shaw is also in the squad but is considered a “long shot” due to his ongoing recovery from an injury sustained in February.

Rashford’s exclusion comes after a difficult season with Manchester United, where he managed only seven goals and two assists, contributing to the team’s eighth-place finish. Henderson’s journey has been tumultuous; after leaving Liverpool for Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia last summer, he struggled to adapt and subsequently moved to Ajax in January.

Although he made nine appearances in the Eredivisie, injuries have hampered his season, ultimately leading to his omission from the squad.

Southgate addressed the media, explaining his rationale for leaving Rashford out during a press conference.

He told reporters: “These are of course difficult calls. You are talking about players that are very important players. With Marcus, in that area of the pitch, I feel that other players have had better seasons, it’s as simple as that.”

The England boss went on to speak about Henderson’s omission: “Hendo has given himself every chance. From the last camp, he missed five weeks through injury and he hasn’t been able to get to that tempo since then. It’s a big call to make, the three players from last time, he, Ben (White) and Marcus (Rashford) all had excellent professionalism.”

Southgate also offered an update on Shaw’s chances of making the squad. He told reporters: “[Luke Shaw’s] up against it.

He’s missed a lot of football. The fact that he has been our first choice in that position, we’ve probably given him a lot longer than we would have done.

I’ve talked with him and the medical team, we’ve been liaising with Manchester United, I’m not sure what’s realistic at this time. I have to say, he’s a long shot.”

  • Euro 2024: Jordan Henderson misses out on England’s 30-man provisional squad

Euro 2024: Jordan Henderson misses out on England’s 30-man provisional squad

Jordan Henderson has reportedly been omitted from England’s provisional squad for Euro 2024, despite being a longtime favourite of Gareth Southgate.

The seasoned midfielder, who has accumulated 81 senior caps, is now facing the consequences of some poor decisions at the club level.

Henderson parted ways with Liverpool in July 2023, aiming to secure a spot in the European Championship by joining Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

However, his stint in the Middle East lasted only six months before his contract was terminated, leading to a move to Dutch side Ajax.

Unfortunately, his time in the Netherlands has been marred by injuries, further hampering his form and fitness.

According to The Athletic, Southgate has decided not to include the industrious midfielder in his Euros plans.

England is set to announce a provisional squad of 30 players for the tournament in Germany this summer.

Despite having captained England on occasion in the absence of star striker Harry Kane, Henderson will be left watching from the sidelines as the team embarks on its quest for continental glory.

England will kick off their Euro 2024 campaign against Serbia on June 16, with friendly matches against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland scheduled beforehand.

  • Southgate goes mum about England stay

England manager Gareth Southgate has expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, labeling it as an “amazing tournament.”

However, he has declined to confirm whether he will extend his tenure beyond this year.

At 53 years old, Southgate’s contract is set to expire in December. Sources close to ESPN indicate that the Football Association is eager for him to continue as manager, potentially leading the Three Lions into the first-ever 48-team World Cup, to be hosted in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Further reports from ESPN suggest that Southgate is being seriously considered as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag if Manchester United opts to part ways with the Dutch coach in the near future.

Southgate previously deliberated over his future following England’s quarterfinal exit at the 2022 World Cup, ultimately reaching a decision to extend his contract beyond this summer’s European Championship in Germany.

In an exclusive interview with ESPN, Southgate said: “I think ’26 will be an amazing World Cup. I’m old enough to remember ’94 [in the U.S.] I didn’t go and obviously England didn’t qualify.

“But you know that any sporting event the U.S. are involved in hosting — and clearly Mexico ’86 I also remember — that will be an amazing tournament, which will be a different sort of challenge.

“If you think about the travel and the time zones compared to the last World Cup, it couldn’t be more different. Temperature changes, altitude and everything else that you could face. So that would also be an amazing tournament.”
Pushed on whether it would tempt him to stay on, Southgate said: “That will depend on playing well, getting results and wanting to stay. Any number of things would be wrapped up in that. But that’s for after this summer, really.”

There are potential logistical problems if United do try to appoint Southgate this summer. United would ideally want their new manager in early to oversee what is expected to be a summer of significant change under new minority owners INEOS.

However, Southgate has previously branded speculation linking him with the United job as “completely disrespectful” and is adamant he won’t consider his options until after Euro 2024, the final of which takes place on July 14. United travel to Norway to face Trondheim on July 15.

When asked whether he believes he will be in management next season or whether he would need a break from the game if he left England, Southgate said: “I don’t have any vision of what next year will look like because everything for me depends on this summer. Everything is geared towards ‘how do we win this tournament.’

“We’re clearly one of the teams that can win it. There’s big expectation, which is completely understandable given what we’ve done over the last five, six years. We’re very comfortable with that expectation. It’s brilliant that our supporters are excited about the team but it’s pointless to me looking beyond that really.”

  • Jude Bellingham’s X-rated reply to James Maddison’s post after late Belgium equaliser

Jude Bellingham’s X-rated reply to James Maddison’s post after late Belgium equaliser

Jude Bellingham sent an enthusiastic message to his England teammate James Maddison after their collaboration led to a late equaliser against Belgium.

Maddison had limited playing time under England manager Gareth Southgate during the international break.

He did not feature against Brazil and only played the final 15 minutes against Belgium.

Despite his brief appearance, Maddison played a crucial role in the game by setting up Bellingham for the 95th-minute equalizer at Wembley Stadium. After the match, Maddison shared a photo of their celebration on Instagram with the caption: “Sheriff [A] Jude Bellingham.”

Great character at the death to salvage something at Wembley! Need to take that attitude into the summer.”
Bellingham was quick to reply with the message: “What a f***ing player.”

Maddison looks set to be part of England’s squad for Euro 2024 and he will be hoping his latest cameo can help convince Gareth Southgate he deserves a place in his starting XI at the tournament in Germany.

Yet the Tottenham star faces serious competition for a place in the team, with Bellingham and Declan Rice having already nailed down spots in midfield.

England are reportedly due to play friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland in June before kicking off their Euro 2024 campaign against Serbia.

  • Southgate resolute on Stones’ starting role despite injury outcome

Southgate resolute on Stones’ starting role despite injury outcome

England manager Gareth Southgate defended his decision to include John Stones in the lineup for two matches within a short span, despite the Manchester City defender being forced off the field due to injury just 10 minutes into Tuesday’s 2-2 draw against Belgium.

Stones, who had played the entire 90 minutes in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Brazil at Wembley, started the match against Belgium but suffered an injury to his adductor muscle early on.

This injury raises doubts about Stones’ availability for City’s upcoming crucial Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday, especially with Kyle Walker also returning to the Etihad after sustaining a hamstring injury against Brazil.

Nonetheless, Southgate defended his decision, asserting that other top nations also fielded senior players in multiple matches during this international break.

“We did [with Stones] what Holland did with Virgil van Dijk tonight, what Norway did with [Martin] Odegaard and also what the Dutch did did with Nathan Aké, but it [criticism] only seems to fall on us.

“Of course I am disappointed if he [Stones] has a problem. It seems to be in the adjunct area, so we will have to wait and see.

“But John hadn’t played for two weeks before joining up with the squad, so it is not an overload problem. But I hate sending players back to their clubs not fully fit.”

England managed to secure a draw against Belgium, another Euro 2024 qualifier, with Jude Bellingham, the Real Madrid midfielder, scoring an equalizer four minutes into stoppage time at the end of the match.

Belgium had taken the lead twice, courtesy of Youri Tielemans, while England’s first equalizer came from an Ivan Toney penalty.

Bellingham’s goal saved England from suffering two consecutive defeats. Despite introducing first starts for Toney and Kobbie Mainoo, Southgate viewed the final outcome positively due to the changes made to his team.

“Jude of course is the headline and that competitive desire not to lose, to win, got us through,” Southgate said. “We recovered from setbacks with a pretty inexperienced team against a side with some very good players.

“Some players have definitely emerged positively from the opportunities they have had so we have great depth, but injuries are a concern and we still have the real heat of the season to come. We know what we have until the end.”
Belgium coach Dominic Tedesco said England deserved to salvage a draw from the game, despite his team leading for much of the encounter.

“Five seconds to go, you can win a game at Wembley,” he said. “That would be something very special and fantastic, but over the game, England was really strong and created many chances, so I think it is a fair result.
“It’s not easy to control this kind of team for 90 minutes, especially here at Wembley.”

  • Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo receives England call-up

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo receives England call-up

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has received a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad, as confirmed by the Football Association on Tuesday.

Initially selected for the England under-21 team, Mainoo has now been elevated to the senior squad by Southgate.

This promotion opens up the possibility of Mainoo making his debut for the senior team in the upcoming friendly matches against Brazil at Wembley on Saturday and Belgium three days later.

“It’s an honour to receive my first senior call-up,” Mainoo wrote on Instagram.

Mainoo, aged 18, has been in excellent form for United this season, contributing two goals and two assists in 21 appearances across various competitions.

He has become a regular fixture in Erik Ten Hag’s squad.

Although he has represented England at the U17s, U18s, and U19s levels, Mainoo is eligible to switch his allegiance to Ghana, where his parents hail from.

Despite his English ties, he still spends some of his free time in Ghana. The Ghanaian football association expressed interest in convincing Mainoo to play for them internationally.

However, reports indicate that England manager Gareth Southgate sees great potential in Mainoo and is eager to nurture his talent within the English setup.

Police arrest two people for obstructing burial in England

Police found almost 30 bodies at a funeral home in northern England after a man and a woman were taken into custody for suspected fraud and not letting a proper burial happen.

Humberside Police found out new information after investigating Legacy Funeral Directors in Hull and East Yorkshire for five days.

Assistant Chief Constable Thom McLoughlin said that 34 dead bodies had been taken to a place where they will try to figure out who they are.

A 46-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested for not burying someone properly, lying to get money, and abusing their power for money. Their names were not given by the police.

There were no more information about what kind of crimes were suspected.

In America, some funeral home owners have been arrested because lots of bodies and ashes were found on their properties.

Almost 200 rotting bodies were found stacked up last year in a funeral home in Colorado that was full of bugs and maggots. The owners are being charged with many crimes, like treating the bodies badly. Lawyers said that some family members were given fake ashes instead of the real ashes of their loved ones.

Humberside police have said that 350 people got in touch with them since Friday. They had asked families who had lost their loved ones to contact investigators if they were worried.

McLoughlin said that his staff and officers are working very hard to handle the many questions and problems caused by this incident. “Families who are going through a hard time are getting help from family liaison officers. We understand that this is a very upsetting time for everyone involved. ”

The company’s website mentioned that it is family-owned and was started in 2010, and has since grown. The latest update on the website in 2021 said that even though COVID-19 caused uncertainty, the services will still be available and a new branch will be opened.

“We can create a special goodbye for your loved ones as an independent funeral director. We have more freedom and fewer limitations than other companies,” the website stated. “With so much experience, you and your family can expect the best service and care. ”

The Associated Press sent an email to the funeral home asking for a comment, but they didn’t reply right away. When they tried calling the phone number for the business, no one answered.

Reports suggest that England manager Gareth Southgate is contemplating inviting Manchester United sensation Kobbie Mainoo for the upcoming international break.

British journalist Graeme Bailey has indicated that Southgate and his technical team have included the young talent in their plans and are aiming to call him up for the Three Lions’ matches against Brazil and Belgium in March.

Mainoo has been enjoying a breakthrough season at Manchester United, having featured in nine Premier League games since his debut against Everton in November 2023.

The youngster grabbed headlines with an extraordinary winning goal in Manchester United’s 4-3 victory over Wolves.

Subsequent reports have suggested that the Ghana Football Association is keen on persuading the Ghanaian-born player, who was raised in the UK, to commit his international future to Ghana and represent the Black Stars.

“The Ghana Football Association is interested in monitoring, attracting, and persuading all eligible talents for its various national teams,” Randy Abbey, a member of the executive council of the Ghana FA, told The Times.

Kobbie Mainoo has been through the ranks of England, playing for the England U19s and making six appearances.

  • Former manager of England, Sven-Goran Eriksson, claims to have only “a year” to live

Former manager of England, Sven-Goran Eriksson, claims to have only “a year” to live

Ex-England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson says he might only have about a year to live after finding out he has cancer.

The 75-year-old man from Sweden was the first coach from another country to manage England’s soccer team. He led the team to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 2002 and 2006, as well as the Euros in 2004.

“I will keep fighting for as long as possible,” Eriksson told Swedish Radio P1.

I am very sick. In the best situation, it might take a year, but it could be much less in the worst situation. We can’t know for sure, so it’s best not to worry about it.

Eriksson, who worked as a manager for 42 years, stopped working as the sporting director at the Swedish club Karlstad 11 months ago due to health problems.

He said he was trying to stay happy and “create something positive” out of his cancer diagnosis.

“You try to fool your brain, but it’s too easy to start feeling bad and stay at home. ” He said it’s good to stay positive and not give up when things get tough.

Eriksson started working as a manager for Degerfors in 1977. Then he went to Gothenburg, where he won the Swedish title, two Swedish cups, and the 1981 Uefa Cup.

After that, he played for big teams in Portugal and Italy like Benfica, Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, and Lazio. He won seven trophies with Lazio including the Serie A title, two Italian Cups and the Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup.

Eriksson left his job at Lazio in 2001 to become the new England manager after Kevin Keegan.

After working for five years, it was announced in January 2006 that Eriksson would be leaving his job after the World Cup in Germany that summer, even though he still had two years left on his contract.

It is not clear why he left, but people think it might be because he got caught in a sting operation by a journalist.

After leaving England, Eriksson had different jobs as a manager. He worked for teams like Manchester City and Leicester City, and also coached national teams like Mexico, Ivory Coast, and the Philippines.

He worked for Chinese soccer teams Guangzhou R&F, Shanghai SIPG and Shenzhen from 2013 to 2017. He also briefly managed the Philippines national team from October 2018 to January 2019.

  • England captain Harry Kane names Burna Boy as his favorite musician

Bayern Munich and English striker Harry Kane has declared Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy as their preferred African musician.

During a Q&A session with ESPN, the captain of the Three Lions of England singled out the Grammy winner as his favourite artist from Africa.

Kane was asked, “What is the last song that got stuck in your head?” He replied, “You know, ‘Big 7’ from Burna Boy? Yeah, I do like Burna Boy, to be fair. It just popped into my head there.”

On the musician he would like to see live, the former Tottenham striker said, “Maybe someone like Burna Boy or Dave, you know.”

After departing Tottenham in the 2023 Summer transfer window, Harry Kane is currently in contention for the European Golden Boot.

The prolific striker is vying for his first-ever European Golden Boot, having netted an impressive 17 goals in just 11 Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich this season.

Kane’s remarkable start has not only shattered various records but has also positioned him favourably in the race for Europe’s top goalscorer accolade this season.

With this goal tally, he has surpassed last season’s winner, Erling Haaland, who scored an astonishing 36 goals in his debut campaign for Manchester City, setting numerous records on the way to securing the Treble.

  • “It was painful” watching 2022 Qatar World Cup – Ivan Toney on England World cup call-up snub

Brentford striker Ivan Toney expressed the “painful” experience of watching the 2022 World Cup while realising he could have been a part of the England squad.

Toney missed the tournament due to allegations of betting, which surfaced just before the Three Lions’ squad announcement.

Although he received an eight-month ban in May, the former Peterborough United star described the timing of the revelations about his betting rule violations as “spiteful.” He recently discussed the challenges of witnessing the competition, acknowledging that he could have participated if selected.

He told Sky Sports: “I did watch a bit [of the World Cup] but that was even more painful watching, knowing I could have been involved in that but listen, what’s done is done.

“I can’t change anything; yes, it was painful but life is painful sometimes. You have just got to fly by it and concentrate on what is in front rather than what is behind.”

Ivan Toney is poised to become a focal point of discussions during the January transfer window, with Brentford reportedly placing a £100 million valuation on him to ward off interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

After an eight-month absence due to a ban, Toney is expected to make a return to first-team football on January 20, when Brentford faces Nottingham Forest.

However, uncertainties linger about his future at the club.

While his ban lasts until January 17, ruling him out of Brentford’s FA Cup third-round replay against Wolves on January 15, he might feature against Forest. Yet, if a substantial offer emerges this month, Toney could find himself at a new club in February.

  • Bellingham and Kane score for England again

Bellingham and Kane score for England again

Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane continued their impressive form, contributing to victories for Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Bellingham scored the opening goal as Madrid defeated Villarreal 4-1, with the England star heading in a superb cross from Luka Modric, securing his 13th LaLiga goal of the season.

The win propelled Madrid to the top of the table, pending Girona’s match against Alaves on Monday.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane netted twice, becoming the fastest player to reach 20 Bundesliga goals, as Bayern Munich secured a 3-0 victory over Stuttgart.

In the early stages, the England captain tapped in a pass from Leroy Sane. Kane then scored with a header in the second half, helping Bayern bounce back from their previous 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

Despite the win, Bayern remains four points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, with a game in hand. Kane expressed his delight, describing it as Bayern’s best performance of the season.

He said: “That was probably our best performance of the season, if I’m honest.

“We wanted to show dominance in a really big game after last week’s result. We had really good intensity.

“We didn’t allow many chances throughout the game and we could have scored a few more goals.

“It was a really good performance and everyone who came in to the starting line-up played really well.

“There will always be times when players are sick and injured. We need the entire team.”

A 17-year-old boy from England who disappeared in Spain in 2017 has been found in France, the authorities confirmed.

The teenager named Alex Batty was found in the town of Revel, which is east of Toulouse, on Wednesday morning.

Six years ago, 11-year-old Alex was on vacation with his mom and grandpa in Spain when they went missing.

A police officer told the media that Alex was brought to a police station by a driver who was worried about him.

The boy said he had been in France for two years, the police source said. The police also said he looked like the last picture of Alex.

He was healthy and said he was not treated badly in any way.

The office in Toulouse said to the media that they can confirm the identity of the missing child. The family said it’s true.

In 2018, Alex’s grandmother, Susan Caruana, said on the BBC that she thought Alex’s mom and grandpa had taken him to live with a spiritual group in Morocco. She also takes care of him legally.

She said they wanted a different way of living and didn’t want Alex to attend school.

A reporter in the area told the media that a delivery driver saw the boy walking with a backpack and skateboard in the mountains and felt bad for him, so he gave him a ride.

Remi Buhagiar from La Depeche newspaper said that the boy and the person spent three hours in the car and the boy shared his story.

“He said he had been living in a traveling community where people move from place to place. ” He didn’t have to, but he thought his mother was strange and didn’t want to live like that. He wanted to do his own thing, so he left.

Alex walked through the hills for many days, Mr Buhagiar said.

“I don’t know if she received the message,” he said.
