Former President John Dramani Mahama, also the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), delivered a sermon at the Ringway Assemblies of God Church on Sunday.

His sermon was part of the church’s Men’s Ministry Day and Father’s Day celebrations.

Mahama, a member of the Ringway Assemblies of God Church, spoke passionately about the timeless teachings found in Jesus’s parables. He highlighted the relevance of these parables in teaching Christians valuable lessons even today.

Reflecting on the Parable of the Prodigal Son, Mahama emphasized the message of God the Father’s unconditional love and forgiveness.

He also delved into the Parable of the Good Samaritan, stressing the importance of showing love and compassion to everyone, regardless of background or circumstances.

Mahama further discussed the Parable of the Lost Sheep, reminding the congregation of the value that God places on each individual.

He urged fathers, husbands, and men of God to reflect on these parables and strive to live out their lessons daily.

“As fathers, husbands, and men of God, we must reflect on these powerful parables and strive to live out their lessons daily,” he said.

“Remember the importance of love, forgiveness, compassion, and everyone’s value. Just as the father in the Parable of the Prodigal Son eagerly welcomed back his wayward son, our heavenly Father waits for us to return to him.”

Encouraging the congregation to build their lives on the foundation of God’s word, Mahama expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share these teachings with the church.

He concluded his sermon by blessing the congregation and wishing them a Happy Father’s Day.

  • ‘Hands down daddy, you were the best ever’ – Christian Atsu’s daughter’s Father’s Day message

‘Hands down daddy, you were the best ever’ – Christian Atsu’s daughter’s Father’s Day message

The immortal words of George Eliot, “Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them,” have taken on a poignant meaning in the life of Abigail, the only daughter of the late Christian Atsu and his widow, Marie-Claire Rupio.

Although the former Black Star player is no longer with his family, his memory evidently lives on in their hearts.

When billions across the world on Sunday, June 18, shared heartwarming and thoughtful messages to their dads to commemorate Father’s Day, Atsu’s family was not left out.

His children, despite his physical absence, celebrated him in their own unique way.

Three days after the global celebration, Marie-Claire Rupio, his widow, shared a touching message that Abigail wrote in honour of her father, a post that has since deeply moved many.

Abigail, who is approximately 4 or 5 years old, wrote on a card saying: “Hands down Daddy, you were the best EVER! Happy Father’s Day Daddy! I love and miss you! Love Abigail X”

Deeply affected by this touching message, Marie-Claire shared the photo of the message accompanied by a crying face emoji and a dove of peace.

Christian Atsu tragically lost his life at the age of 31 in the powerful earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on February 6, 2023, claiming the lives of over 50,000 people. He had been playing for Hatay, a Turkish first division team, since September the previous year, based in Antakya, near the epicentre.

After two weeks of searching, his body was discovered on February 18 in the rubble of the building where he lived. He was laid to rest on March 17, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories in the hearts of his loved ones.

  • Mother’s day is well celebrated than Father’s day – John Dumelo

Mother’s day is well celebrated than Father’s day – John Dumelo

Popular Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has sparked a debate about how Father’s Day is celebrated in comparison to Mother’s Day.

According to John, in a recent post on Twitter, he pointed out the discrepancy in the way Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are celebrated.

He emphasized that multinational and local businesses organize Mother’s Day events and giveaways for mothers, whereas fathers often receive little recognition or appreciation on Father’s Day.

“When it’s Mother’s Day, all the multinational/local companies and brands will organize events and do giveaways for mothers. But on Father’s Day, all WE get is……nothing. God Dey.”

This thought-provoking statement has resonated with many, prompting a reflection on the discrepancy in acknowledgement between the two occasions.

Father’s Day, celebrated worldwide on the third Sunday of June, is a special day dedicated to honouring and appreciating fathers and father figures for their contributions to their families and society.

In some social media reactions, a user said, “Mr Dumelo, may I remind you that most of the local and MULTINATIONAL companies are owned and led by MEN.”

Another added, “Fathers dey suffer ooo. A father who earns 5k a month pays kids school fees of 2k bills and expenses of 1.5k gives alimony of 2k and sorts other members. In fact spends over 7k yet has little love”

A third stated, “Which gender occupies the highest positions in those multinational/ local companies?? Men. Let’s blame ourselves.”

In a picture made public by Kensington Palace in honour of Father’s Day, the Prince of Wales can be seen grinning with his three children.

The youngest child, Prince Louis, is clutching William on his shoulders from behind as Princess Charlotte and Prince George stand on either side of their father, smiling up at him.

William, 40, and George, 9, all wear casual shirts and pants, and the children as well as their father are all dressed in shades of blue.

Louis, five, is his typically excitable self and is beaming in a blue jumper, while his brother and sister appear more relaxed.

Charlotte, who turned eight last month, is dressed in a blue flower print dress and white cardigan and has a tooth missing in her smile.

The picture was taken on the Windsor estate earlier this year by Millie Pilkington, who has photographed the Prince and Princess of Wales’s children on a number of occasions.

All five members of the family were involved in Saturday’s Trooping the Colour, the first of King Charles’ reign.

Louis, on the Buckingham Palace balcony, saluted during the traditional Trooping flypast and also pretended to ride a bike with his arms stretched out.

The Princess of Wales joined her children in a carriage with the Queen, travelling just behind the King, who was on horseback as part of the procession in a return to a tradition that Queen Elizabeth II stepped back from more than thirty years ago.

William rode behind his father, alongside the Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal.

Camilla and Catherine, as royal colonels, had prominent roles in the Trooping.

Catherine wore an eye-catching green dress and hat, alluding to her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards.

The Queen wore a red dress and black beret to represent her position as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

  • You have been admirable – Mahama’s message to all dads on Father’s Day

You have been admirable – Mahama’s message to all dads on Father’s Day

Former President John Dramani Mahama has wished dads across the length and breath of Ghana a happy Father’s Day.

According to the former president, it is essential for fathers to be recognised for the role they play in their family and society.

“I want to take a moment to recognize my fellow fathers, for the incredible work that you do as fathers. Today, we celebrate you and all that you bring to our society,” he wrote in a Facebook post today.

He highlighted the love and dedication fathers show to their children, both biological and others. For him, this “is truly admirable.”

The statesman therefore entreated all dads to “continue to put our families first in everything that we do.”

“I must say that, on occasions such as today, we must use it, as we are celebrated or we celebrate ourselves, to strengthen our resilience in playing our role as fathers.

Congratulations for all you do to support your families and communities. Happy Father’s Day!,” he added.

  • Ghanaian Chef urges parents to guide children towards cooking careers

Ghanaian Chef urges parents to guide children towards cooking careers

In a world that often prioritizes conventional career paths, the culinary arts have been unjustly overlooked, dismissed as mere hobbies rather than respected professions.

But now, celebrated Chef Joseph Wilson-Tetteh is stepping forward to challenge this perception and inspire parents to nurture their children’s genuine interest in cooking.

Chef Wilson-Tetteh firmly believes that cultivating a passion for cooking in young minds can pave the way for a fulfilling and gratifying career as chefs.

During an interview on UTV ahead of Father’s Day, he boldly stated, “Being a Chef is rewarding, so guide your sons with the passion to do it.”

Drawing from personal experience, he shared a heartwarming story of how he helped mentor a young boy whose guardians initially hesitated to let him pursue a culinary career.

“There was a young man at Achimota school. He had a burning passion for cooking, but his Uncle, who was taking care of him since his father passed away, didn’t understand or support his dream. The boy’s mother approached me, asking me to speak to the Uncle, and eventually, the Uncle relented, leaving the boy in my care. Today, I can proudly say that the man is proud of his son, who even sends him money,” Chef Wilson-Tetteh revealed.

Based on this inspiring tale, the accomplished chef passionately appealed to parents, particularly fathers, to wholeheartedly back their children in pursuing their dreams, especially if they have a genuine passion for their chosen path.

This call to action comes at an opportune time, coinciding with the recent endeavors of two chefs in Nigeria, Chef Dammy and Hilda Baci, who have both strived to break Guinness World Records in their culinary craft, with Hilda Baci emerging triumphant.

Chef Joseph Wilson-Tetteh’s message is clear: It’s time to change the narrative surrounding the culinary arts. Let us empower our children, support their dreams, and guide them towards a future filled with culinary excellence.

With passion and determination, they can redefine the world of gastronomy and carve out remarkable careers as skilled chefs.
