The Ghana Police Service has deployed personnel to oversee and ensure calm and orderliness at the ongoing Kume Preko Reloaded demonstration which commenced at Obra Spot in Accra on Saturday, November 5, 2022.
Live photos and videos coming from GhanaWeb reporter, Nimatu Yakubu, shows police personnel in their full gear comprising of helmets, bullet proof jackets, and face shields.
Also, trained horses and armoured cars have been stationed at vantage points to protect lives at the protest which has recorded an impressive turnout.
The ‘Kume Preko Reloaded’ protest led by Lawyer Martin Kpebu was organized to register Ghanaians’ displeasure over the current economic hardship and failed economy under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party government.
Protesters displayed several placards calling on the president to step down from his position including his vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as well as the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
According to our reporter, the demonstration has so far not recorded any causalities.
Popular Ghanaian comic actor and comedian Funny Face in the latter days of 2021 and the early days of 2022 had a rough time after he went through severe depression that ended him up at the psychiatric hospital.
The father of two has finally narrated how the Ghana Police Service helped him bring out his depression.
According to him, he came out of his depression after receiving hot slaps from operatives of the Ghana Police Service.
Born Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng, the ‘Children’s President’ became the talk of the nation following a series of trauma and depression he went through as a result of his multiple failed relationships and the deprivation of him to see his twins, Ella and Bella.
It would be recalled that video was widespread on social media capturing the moments Funny Face was being mishandles by some police officers after he reportedly fired some gunshots at Kasoa.
He was detained for some time but was later sentenced to the Accra Psychiatry Hospital for mental evaluation which came out successfully as he bounces back to his usual duties.
In a snippet video of an interview with Kwaku Sintim- Misa, popular known as KSM on The KSM Show on Pan African TV, Funny Face took a minute to eulogize the Ghana Police Service for the efforts they put into eliminating the depression and trauma he was going through.
According to him, the Ghana Police Service as a result of the beatings they subjected him to eradicated his depression and brought him back to sanity in no time.
He also heaped praises on the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare for the role he played in regaining his sanity.
The Central Regional Police Command on Wednesday held a Remembrance Day for three gallant officers who lost their lives in the line of duty this year in the region.
Held at the forecourt of the Regional Police head office, the ceremony brought together families of the bereaved officers and other security agencies.
The deceased police officers were Sergeant Hifzullai Alihu, Corporal Kojo Mahama, and Chief Inspector Williams Dogbe.
Sgt. Alihu, who was with the operations units in Cape Coast, was run over by a driver, C/L Mahama, with the Court unit died in a motor accident and Inspector Dogbe died after a short illness.
Wreaths were laid to celebrate the fallen heroes for their dedication and commitment to the peace and stability of the country.
Mr Ernest Arthur, the Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive, who represented Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, the Regional Minister laid a wreath on behalf of the President and the people of Ghana,
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Alexander Amenyo, the Regional Police Commander, laid the wreath on behalf of Dr. George Akufo-Dampare, the Inspector General of Police while Mrs Fatimatu Issah did for the departed officers.
Reverend Chief Inspector Felix Mensah-Kwagyir, the Chaplain at the Command led the memorial service, exhortation, and a call to remembrance.
There was a sounding of the last post and a minute silence was observed and flags hoisted at half mast and officers in uniform saluted.
Addressing the gathering before the ceremony, DCOP Amenyo charged the officers not to be discouraged by the challenges but be resilient and determined to maintain national peace.
He said the Remembrance Day had been singled out by the Police Administration to give special recognition to serving police officers who lost their lives while on duty, be it in the country or on peacekeeping duties.
It is a day to recognize the contributions and the sacrifices made by the officers at the peril of their lives.
According to him, once police officers paid the ultimate price in the course of performing their duty, the Police Memorial Day celebrates such heroes and engraves their memories as a permanent monument.
The idea for the observation was conceived in November 24, 2014 but the maiden event took place on a bare floor at the time.
The cenotaph was first used to mark the Remembrance Day for officers who perished in November 2015 and 2016.
The day has been permanently fixed for November 2 to coincide with all Souls Day of the Catholic Calendar.
The Police Administration also uses the occasion to visit families of the bereaved families and offer them some support while church services and Muslim prayers are held after the ceremony in honour of the dead.
In an exhortation, Rev. Mensah-Kwagyir reminded everyone about the inevitability of death and said: “The reality is that we will all exit the world in different circumstances and so no one can escape it.”
He said the death of a police officer was not only a loss to the family but to the nation as well and charged the police officers to be steadfast and focused on their duties.
Shatta Wale has announced that he is pleased with the Ghana Police Service’s quick response to his call to assist and provide highly confidential information that can help get to the bottom of Fennec Okyere’s murder which occurred in 2014.
“The attention of the Ghana Police Service has been drawn to a tweet by Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr., popularly known as Shatta Wale regarding the death of artiste Manager Fennec Okyere. The Police have made contact with Shatta Wale who is cooperating with us on the matter,” parts of the police statement dated November 2 and signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Grace Ansah-Akrofi read.
Reacting to the development, Shatta who seemed prepared to collaborate with authorities replied with a “Thank you Ghana police” note.
On Wednesday, Shatta took to his Facebook page to allege that his former manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, known chiefly as Bullgod actually had a hand in the murder of one Fenick, making people assume he meant Fennec Okyere considering that Bullgod was once accused of murdering the artiste manager.
“Bull Dog since u r bringing out secrets. You will tell Ghanaians. What happen to Fenicks Murder !! And I am not joking about this time!! I am ready to tell the court about what you told me about you and your men and how planned that foolish act get ready. This Akuffo Addo won’t give you a murder chance to be on our streets !!! Watch how this ends !!! You can’t fight time !!!” read the post sighted by GhanaWeb.
His claim came after Bullgod leaked some possible songs and international features Shatta Wale has on his yet-to-be-released Gift Of God album.
According to Shatta’s former manager, the famous Dancehall musician has a song with American singer, and songwriter, John Legend, Dancehall greats, Vybz Kartel and Popcaan as well as Stefflon Don on his album.
The Deputy National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hamilton Nixon Biney, a.k.a Chief Biney, has revealed the identity of the policeman who allegedly infiltrated his “Ghana Must Work” demonstration against Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking in a UTV TV interview monitored by GhanaWeb on Tuesday (November 1), Chief Biney, who showed pictures of the said police officer to the cameras, mentioned his name as Kwaku Gameli.
He said that the leadership of the Ghana Police Service should take the matter seriously because the policeman wore the attire of the demonstrators, which could have led to him breaching the court order that stated that only 20 people should participate in the demonstration.
The NDC deputy national organizer added that the police should investigate the matter because the alleged infiltrator claimed not to be a police officer, but he had pictures of him in police uniform.
“When I confronted this man (the infiltrator), he said he was not a police officer, and the media has a video of this. And I said to him that you know me, and I know you, Kweku Gameli; you are a police officer.
“This is the gentlemen (holding up a picture) wearing my t-shirt, “Ghana Must Work”. This is a picture of him holding placards. Look at the danger; this gentleman was right behind me. If he had done something wrong, I would have been held responsible for it.
“This is the policeman (holding another picture of the man with police apparel and a gun). This is him (another picture of him on a motorbike).
“Kweku Gameli came into the police and was a visibility officer. He is a rider and has been involved in an accident on more than one occasion. Because of that (the accidents), he is no longer a rider, but he works as an intelligence officer at Tesano (Police Station),” he said in Twi.
He added that if the Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, fails to take action against Kweku Gameli, he will sue the police.
Chief Biney and his cohorts were protesting against Dr. Bawumia’s handling of the country’s economy.
The protest started at Kawukudi Park, through 37 to the Lands Commission junction, and turned right to the DVLA, where the demonstrators presented a petition to the Office of the Vice President.
This comes after the musician confessed in a Facebook post that his former manager, Bullgod, had a hand in the death of Fennec.
“Bull Dog since u r bringing out secrets. You will tell Ghanaians. What happen to Fenicks Murder !! And I am not joking about this time!! The family of a man who was allegedly killed by some police personnel at Adomfe, in the Asante Akyem South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, have filed a GH¢10 million suit against the Inspector General of Police, COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare; the Ghana Police Service, and the Attorney General.
The suit, according to a report by The Chronicle newspaper, is jointly filed with nine others.
Stating the details available to it, the newspaper said that the deceased man, 33-year-old Kofi Ampomah, was allegedly seized by nine police officers on October 15, 2022, just after he had closed from work.
Further details said that upon his seizure, the police officers allegedly assaulted him by using pepper spray on him, after which they butchered him with cutlasses or machetes.
The police are then said to have left the man unattended.
Maxwell Boamah, who is said to be a customary successor of the late Kofi Ampomah, is also reported to have said that the body of the deceased was handled like an animal by the officers from the Konongo Division of the Ghana Police Service.
“The police finally dumped the deceased at Konongo Odumasi Government Hospital and lied that he had been killed by armed robbers,” details of the writ said.
The report added that the family of the deceased is filing a suit for GH¢10 million as compensation that will be used for the education, maintenance, upkeep, and trauma suffered by the dependants of the deceased.
Why Kofi Ampomah was killed?
The Chronicle newspaper explained that Boamah, the relative of the deceased, said that Kofi was mistaken for a young man who had allegedly reported the defendants (the nine policemen) to the Bompata police for apparently releasing a woman.
The woman, it added, was allegedly selling local gin mixed with a substance suspected to be Indian hemp to the public.
“He averred that the police, on two different occasions, arrested and released the woman in question after extorting GH¢3,000 and GH¢4,000 respectively from her,” the report said.
Police officers named in the writ:
According to the writ, the following are the names of the officers alleged to have been involved in the death of Kofi Ampomah:
General Sergeant Suleman Seidu (Sully Seidu), G/CPL Seth Agbango (Seth Agbango), D/L/CPL Salifu Yakubu, G/SGT Samuel Awrjamb, G/SGT Opare Samuel (Opare Samuel Antwi), D/CPL James Astikson Mensah (James Mensah), G/CPL Nyame Hayford, G/CPL Emmanuel Divines Delasi (Delasi Divine), and G/L/CPL Samuel Kwame Gorman (Gorman Samuel).
Additionally, the writ has named the IGP, COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and the AG, Godfred Dame, jointly in the case.
About the late Kofi Ampomah:
Details contained in the writ showed that the deceased was a Sprinter ‘trotro’ driver who plied his trade along the Adomfe to Kumasi Road.
After reportedly organizing some thugs to destroy a four-bedroom apartment building in Dzorwulu on October 24, 2022, the suspects were detained.

The police stated in a Facebook post that they were in charge of the situation and that any further developments would be made public in due course.
The law enforcement agency explained the disturbances at Dzorwulu as the result of a land dispute in its comment on the situation.
“Calm has since been restored and the Police are in charge of the situation. Therefore, we want to remind everyone to keep their cool.
In due course, more information will be given, the police wrote on its page.
An unidentified man running commentary on a 33-second video shared is heard asking for help for the man while exclaiming that he is not dead.
According to social media reports, the driver of the vehicle was shot while his car was set on fire. It is not immediately clear what may have resulted in the shooting incident.
A middle-aged-looking Ghanaian man has reportedly climbed a high-tension pole at Kasoa, a community in the Central Region.
His decision was to protest the current economic hardship in the country, eyewitness accounts said.
In a viral video, which was sighted by GhanaWeb, the man was seen quickly climbing the high-tension pole as bystanders made many pleas in attempts to get him down.
Also in the video, a vehicle of the Ghana Police Service could be seen, creating the impression that the police officers were on the scene to help get the man off the pole before he endangered his life even more.
A journalist, Kwaku Asante, who shared the video on Twitter, said that the man climbed the pole because he was fed up with life.
“A man has climbed the high tension poles in Kasoa and, according to eyewitnesses, says he won’t come down despite the police on site. He says he’s tired of life and the economy,” Asante tweeted.

The Ghana Police Service says it has received new complainants in the ongoing case of fraud involving the founder and leader of Heaven Way Champion International Ministries, Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng alias Nana Agradaa.
According to the police, it is in the process of taking statements from some 30 persons who were also victims of the alleged money-doubling scam perpetrated by Nana Agradaa on her own church members.
This was stated in court on Thursday, October 13, 2022, when Agradaa appeared before the Accra Circuit Court 9 for a second time.
Agradaa was arrested on Sunday, October 9, 2022, following widespread allegations that she had scammed some members of her church.
She was put before court on charges of defrauding by false pretences and engaging in charlatanic advertisement in newspapers contrary to Section 137 of Act 29/60 on Monday.
With seven complainants involved in the case at the time, the counts were separated into seven on same charges when the court remanded her into custody to reappear on Thursday.
Arguing for an extension of her remand on Thursday, DSP Sylvester Asare of the prosecution informed the court about the 30 new complainants whose statements are now being taken for investigations to be carried out.
According to the prosecution, the suspect will most likely interfere in police investigations when granted bail.
DSP Sylvester Asare hence prayed the court to remand the suspect for two weeks to give the police enough time to conduct its investigations.
In opposition to the prosecution’s request, the defence bench led by Reynold Twumasi Ankrah said the accused is a mother whose infants need her at home.
He emphasised that the accused is ready to meet bail conditions and appear before the court for her trial.
The presiding judge, Mr Bright Acquah having been convinced by the prosecution’s argument however remanded the suspect into custody but for just 4 days and urged the police to conclude its investigations by the adjourned date.
The case was thus adjourned to Monday, October 17, 2022.
The Ghana Police Service have stated that the management of Today TV, owned by embattled founder and leader of Heaven Way Champion Ministries International, Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, has refused to assist in its ongoing investigations.
Evangelist Oduro Koranteng, alias Nana Agradaa, was arrested on Sunday, October 9, 2022, on allegations of fraud and put before the Accra Circuit Court 9 on Monday.
During her second appearance in court on Thursday, October 13, 2022, the prosecution led by DSP Sylvester Asare prayed to the court for an extension of Agradaa’s remand in police custody as she is likely to interfere in investigations if granted bail.
The defence bench led by Reynold Twumasi Ankrah, in praying the court to grant his client bail, argued that the police have yet to establish any concrete evidence to back its charges against the accused.
He revealed that the police, now on a fishing expedition for evidence, have written to the management of his client’s TV station for some footage.
But responding to the issue of the letter to the management, DSP Asare argued that the police already have in their possession the video contents which have gone viral on the internet.
He, however, confirmed that the police have indeed written to the management of Today TV extending an invitation for assistance in its investigations.
The prosecutor indicated that the invitation was ‘’blatantly refused’’ by the managers, who said their response was solely dependent on the instructions of the accused person.
The prosecution, which was arguing against granting the accused person bail, said the decision by the managers of the TV station was a direct confirmation of her ability to interfere in police investigations if granted bail.
“It will go a long way to thwart police investigations and amount to an acquittal before trial,” DSP Asare told the court.
In his decision, the presiding judge, Mr Bright Acquah, agreed with the prosecution that the suspect may interfere in investigations if granted bail and therefore remanded the suspect into custody.
“She could end up paying off the complainants,” the judge stated.
The court adjourned the case to Monday, October 17, 2022.
Agradaa was arrested in connection with allegations of a money-doubling scam she perpetrated against members of her church.
She is facing two charges for defrauding by false pretences and engaging in charlatanic advertisements in newspapers contrary to Section 137 of Act 29/60 on Monday.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command, through a specialised intelligence operation, on 13th October 2022 arrested two armed robbers and shot dead one other at Asuofua Asamang in the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, who was later identified as Issaka Muniru was shot when he attempted to fire at the Police during the operation. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Police also succeeded in arresting two of his accomplices, Kwaku Boateng alias Form Noede and Kojo Gyamfi.
The two are currently in Police custody and will be put before the court to face justice.
Police retrieveda Smith & Wesson SD40 VE pistol which was used to fire at the officers, and thirteen (13) rounds of live ammunition.
The deceased, Issaka Muniru and his robbery syndicate have been involved in a series of robberies within the Kumasi Metropolis and its environs for years.
Before his demise, Issaka Muniru was standing trial with three other accomplices, Ernest Agyei Badu, Rider and MBY at the Nkawie Circuit Court for robbing one Pastor Emmanuel Barfour Awuah of Abuakwa Abakomadi at gun point on 26th May, 2021, and making away with his two (2) gold wrist watches, mobile phones and an unspecified amount of money.
The deceased was granted bail by the court but he jumped the bail and a bench warrant was therefore issued for his arrest. His accomplices are still attending trial at the court.
In another robbery where Issaka Muniru, now deceased, was named as the gang leader, three other members of his gang, Charles Kojo Fosu, Yaw Anim and Paul Osafo were arrested by the police but he managed to escape. The three suspects have since been remanded into prison custody.
The Police have assured the public that the Service will continue to carry out its constitutional mandate of protecting life and property and maintaining law and order even at the peril of their lives.
It commended the team that worked on the operation for their dedication.
The founder of Heavenway Champion International Ministries, Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng has again been denied bail by an Accra Circuit Court.
The court presided over by Justice Bright Acquah on Thursday, October 13, 2022, struck out a bail plea by her lawyer, Reynold Twumasi.
This was after an initial bail denial during her first hearing in court on October 10.
State Prosecutor, represented by DSP Sylvester Asare during today’s hearing, had prayed the court for a 2-week extension of remand for the accused on the basis that, investigations were still ongoing and needed to be concluded.
This was countered by counsel for the accused who argued that there are no ongoing investigations as prosecution seeks to establish and that nothing substantial had so far been found on his client. He added that his client will be able to meet all bail conditions.
The prosecution however noted that some 30 new witnesses had emerged who had to be investigated and results concluded.
Presiding Judge, Bright Acquah subsequently granted the plea for extended remand, but however indicated that prosecution has 4 days instead of an additional week to conclude investigations for trial to proceed.
The case has since been adjourned till Monday, October 17, 2022.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service have arrested repented fetish priestess, Nana Agradaa, now known as Evangelist Mama Pat.
This was announced in a statement by the Service shared via its social media handles on Sunday, October 9, 2022.
“The Police have arrested Patricia Asiedua alias Nana Agradaa following allegations of money doubling scam levelled against her by some members of the public. The suspect is currently assisting police investigation,” the statement said.
Nana Agradaa’s arrest comes on the back of allegations made by scores of her church members, who claimed that she had scammed them after an all-night service.
The former fetish priestess had advertised in a viral video that she was going to give out monies to people who would attend her all night church service on Friday, October 7, 2022.
Things however did not go as planned for many of the people who attended the service as many of them cried foul that they had given out monies to her but she failed to keep to her side of the agreement.
She eventually is reported to have sent the people away from the church, prompting the alarms they raised online.
The police have since called on all persons who were affected by the supposed scam to report to the Accra Regional Police Command to help with the investigations.
“Anyone who is a victim of the alleged money doubling scam should report to the Accra Regional Police Command for further action to assist the investigation,” it added.
A Christian group named Ghana Need Ghana has waded into the recent arrest and controversy surrounding the founder and leader of Heavenway Champion Ministries International, Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng.
According to the group, the recent arrest of the former fetish priestess for allegedly duping her church members is a clear confirmation of their concerns about her supposed conversion into Christianity and subsequent ordination as a priest.
At a press conference held on Wednesday, October 13, 2022, the group emphasised some of its concerns earlier raised about Agradaa’s conversion and ordination.
“She bought a church building for her husband whilst in her fetishism craft, but retrieved it,” in a statement read by its President, Reverend Mrs. Patience Mensah, the group said
“We don’t hate Agradaa, but as the bible states, we are implored to call out bad character so that in the end we will all not be grouped as the same. You are all aware that we raised concerns about Agradaa’s supposed calling by God. She was never called by God which is why we called on everyone to be careful about her ordination. She eventually become a priest but now we have been vindicated that she was all about the money,” Bishop Seizer George Ofori Atta, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Ghana Need Ghana, added.
Agradaa was arrested by the Ghana Police Service on Sunday, October 9, 2022, following widespread reports that she had duped some members of her church in an alleged money-doubling scheme.
According to the victims, they attended her church and gave out their monies in various amounts after she had advertised to give them multiples of their offerings.
An Accra Circuit Court on Monday remanded Agradaa into custody after she was charged with two counts of defrauding by false pretences and engaging in charlatan advertising in a newspaper.
She is due back in court later today, Thursday, October 13, 2022.
It will be recalled that Ghana Need Ghana in July this year led a protest calling for the arrest of Agradaa.
According to the group which presented a petition to the Ghana Police Service, there was a need to prosecute the former fetish priestess for her alleged fraud schemes.
The protest was mostly attended by alleged victims who claim Agradaa duped them during her fetishism days.
It is equally the obligation of the passenger to board a vehicle in excellent condition with an active insurance policy, according to Mrs. Cynthia Kwarteng Tufuor, Tema Area Manager, SIC Insurance PLC, who has supervision authority in sections of the Volta and Eastern Regions.
She claimed that no insurance provider would provide benefits under an expired policy in the event of an accident.
“So that in case of any accident, you will receive adequate compensation. Passengers must place high premium on their life,” Mrs Tufuor stated at the Ghana News Agency Tema Regional Office, Road Safety Campaign platform at Tema.
The Campaign initiated by the GNA Tema Regional Offices and the Tema Regional Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service seek to actively create consistent and systematic weekly awareness advocacy on the need to be cautious on the road as a user.
It also seeks to educate all road users on their respective responsibilities, and sensitize drivers, especially on the tenets of road safety regulations.
Mrs Tufuor said checking status was also a means of protecting and preserving one’s life and family from uncomfortable situations that comes with fatal accidents.
“I urge commercial vehicles passengers, to physically examine the vehicle, let’s try and avoid worn-out vehicles,” she said.
Mrs Tufuor urged insurance companies to join the road safety campaign stressing that even though it might seem the incentives for insurers to prevent road crashes primarily come from their liability to pay for claims relating to road crashes the societal benefits were greater since many lives would be saved.
Mr Francis Ameyibor, GNA Tema Regional Manager said that the GNA-Tema Regional Office is mobilizing key personalities through the road safety campaign as channels to educate the people to reduce the soaring number of road fatalities in Tema and the country.
Mr Ameyibor noted that even though the data for the first half of this year has dropped marginally compared to the same period last year, there was still the need to upscale the advocacy campaign.
He explained that the GNA-Tema and MTTD road safety campaign seeks to focus on personalities and institutions who are used as changed agents to reach out to their specific constituents with a road safety message.
Mr. Ameyibor, therefore, charged Religious and Traditional Leaders, Members of Parliament, Ministers of State, and other public speakers to devote just two minutes of their time anytime they mount the podium and speak about road safety.
The Ghana Police Service has asked persons who are victims of Nana Agradaa’s alleged money-doubling scam to be law-abiding as it launches investigations into the matter.
The law enforcement agency has also urged the victims to assist it with the much-needed information on the matter as it aims to unravel circumstances leading to the alleged money swindling.
“We would like to urge anyone with information that can assist the investigation to report to the Accra Regional Police Command at Accra Central close to the COCOBOD building.
“While [the] investigation continues, we urge everyone, especially those who might have been affected to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands,” the police tweeted.
Nana Agradaa was in the news again over the weekend after scores of people believed to be her church members went viral in social media video clips crying foul that they have been scammed.
The repented priestess had earlier advertised through her television channel that she was going to give out monies to people who came to her church, Heavenway Champion International Ministry, and also promised that she would double monies that are brought to her into the church.
However, as has been typical of her, particularly from the days when she was a fetish priestess, it seems the evangelist only played on the gullibility of the scores of people who appeared at her church to extort monies from them.
When she was done, as has been shared in a number of the videos available to media, she booted them out of the building, aided by her well-built bodyguards.
A number of the affected people are also heard ranting and calling her out.
“This is Agradaa’s church, Heavenway, and she advertised on her TV station that she was going to share monies with everyone only for us to get here, and she rather collects monies from people. She told people to bring ten million (GHc10,000) and come for two billion (GHc200,000) after which she asked people to leave the church. Things immediately turned chaotic here,” a lady giving voice commentary in one of the videos said.
Meanwhile, Ghana Police Service has arrested Nana Agradaa to assist with investigations levelled against her.
“The Police have arrested Patricia Asiedua alias Nana Agradaa following allegations of money doubling scam levelled against her by some members of the public. The suspect is currently assisting police investigation,” it tweeted on October 9.
The Ghana Police Service says it has begun investigations into an alleged money doubling scam which was perpetrated by Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as ‘Nana Agradaa’.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, the Police said the suspect, who is the leader of the Heaven Way Church at Weija, reportedly committed the crime against some members of her congregation.
According to the Police, the aggrieved members launched a series of reports which have subsequently compelled the Police to probe the matter.
In its social media post, the Police, therefore, urged members of the general public to assist with investigations, while remaining calm.
“The investigation was initiated following reports that have come to the attention of the Police on the matter.
We would like to urge anyone with information that can assist the investigation to report to the Accra Regional Police Command at Accra Central close to the COCOBOD building. While investigation continues, we urge everyone, especially those who might have been affected to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands” the statement emphasised.
On Saturday, social media was awash with videos of aggrieved church members of ‘Nana Agradaa’, accusing their leader of swindling them.
In a spree of comments monitored by JoyNews, the betrayed congregants said they took her for her words and gave out various sums of money with the hopes of receiving multiple folds as she had promised.
Some of the victims of the supposed scam said they have traveled from very long distances to meet Nana Agrada to collect their money after her promises failed.
Meanwhile, scores of social media users have criticised the affected church members for being too gullible and vulnerable.
According to them, ‘Nana Agradaa’, as she is popularly called has gained notoriety for swindling her unsuspecting clientele, and therefore her congregants should have known better in dealing with her.
Others have however laid the blame at the doorstep of the Police, for failing to keep the former spiritualist in check, after claiming she had repented and had now become a minister of the gospel.
High-risk commercial drivers and motorcyclists are to be given refresher training in defensive driving across the country to help reduce road accidents that result in the loss of lives and property.
The training, which would cover 1,500 drivers and motorcycle riders is a collaboration between Vivo Energy Ghana and the National Road Safety Authority.
It is scheduled to commence next week in Greater Accra, Ashanti, Bono East, Northern, Central and Western.
The Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana (VEGH), Mr Kader Maiga announced these when he launched the company’s 2022 ‘Stop, Think and Drive’ Road Safety Campaign yesterday, at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, popularly known as Circle Dubai.
He said drivers would be monitored and evaluated to assess the impact of the campaign.
Mr Maiga said provisional statistics from the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) and the Ghana Police Service, indicate that more than 2,924 people were killed in road traffic accidents in 2021.
“This is an issue that must concern everyone and for that reason the energy company, with road transport safety as a key priority area is committed to support government curb this menace on the roads through its‘Stop, Think and Drive Programme,” he said.
He noted that, although almost 90 per cent of all accidents were due to human errors, it could be prevented through better “driver training and continuous professional development on safe driving practices.”
“We are happy to launch this campaign through a partnership with the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), the statutory regulatory body for road safety in Ghana to lead and supervise the project to ensure it meets all standards and requirements.
“Other relevant stakeholder institutions in the campaign include the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority(DVLA), the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD), and the various Transport Unions,” he added.
Mr Maiga urged all drivers and motorcyclists to make the most out of these refresher trainings to better equip them to contribute towards making the roads safer.
“Improving safety on our roads is a collective responsibility, let’s get involved,” he advised.
On his part, the Head of Regulation, Inspection, and Compliance at NRSA, Mr Kwame Kodua Atuahene, encouraged drivers to get involved in such trainings because soon many drivers would not be allowed to operate commercial vehicles without any training.
On behalf of all the transporters for VEGH, J. K. Horgle Transport Limited, J. K. Ahiadome Transport Limited and S.O Frimpong Transport Company Limited,a representative, Mr Randy Obeng-Frimpong pledged their support towards the impactful initiative as well as their continuous partnership with VEGH.

According to reports, Richard Kofi was arrested on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Akaa Buem in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region.
The suspect is said to have been picked up by the police who took him to the palace of the chief of the town before he was whisked away into custody.
The police are said to also have arrested the wife of the suspect who lives separately from her husband’s house.
The assaulted baby was also rescued and taken into police care.
This brings an end to the hunt commenced by the police after GhanaWeb reported the video viral in which the suspect was seen beating up the baby with a whip.
The Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, announced a bounty of GHC2,000 for any information leading to the arrest of the man who was captured in the video.
In the said video, the suspect is seen holding the by one arm and whipping him up while the baby’s frantic cries for mercy was ignored.
Subsequent to the police announcement, children advocacy non-governmental organisation, Child Rights International also announced another reward of GHC10,000 reward for any such information.
An additional reward of GHC5,000 was announced by Givers Herbal Company Limited for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
This brought to a total some GHC17,000 as the bounty declared for the arrest of the suspect.
Meanwhile, a local journalist in the area has confirmed the suspect is currently in the custody of the Jasikan Police Command.
The bounty placed on a man wanted for assaulting a baby has been raised to some GH¢17,000.
This comes after the addition of some GH¢ 5,000 to the GHC12,000 announced by the Ghana Police Service and Child Right International. The additional GH¢5000 has been announced by Givers Herbal Company Limited.
“The video is very disheartening to even watch. We are even compelled to question if the child is his own. But even if the child is not his, that does not permit him to treat a baby like that. We find it worrying because this is not the first time we are seeing something like this. There was a similar video of a woman abusing a baby and we did not see how this issue ended. So we at Givers have also taken an interest and our CEO, Dr Derek Danso has also thought it wise to contribute to the search for the suspect. So whoever has information leading to his arrest will be given an additional GHC5,000 in cash,” Public Relations Officer of the Company, Richard Sarkodie told Accra FM in an interview.

The Police Service is in search of a man who has been sighted in a viral video abusing a toddler.
The viral video sighted by The Independent Ghana showed the male adult flogging the infant with a branch under a tree.
While the child wept bitterly, a voice belonging to the individual who captured the video kept saying “you will hurt the child.”
In a Facebook post, the Police revealed that its officers are working assiduously to arrest the adult and rescue the child after coming into contact with the “horrifying video.”
To bolster investigation, the Police has offered a GH₵2,000.00 reward for anyone who is able to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the individual.
Also, members of the public with any information on the suspect’s whereabout are advised to reach the police on 0243809991.
Ghanaians have condemned the merciless action and the said individual who took footage without rescuing the child from the abuse.
Rockhill Chapel founder, Dr. Sonnie Badu in an Instagram post said he was disgusted by the video making rounds.
“I can’t play the full video as I’m already full of tears. Please arrest all three men! The one abusing the child, the one videoing it, and the one sitting down,” he wrote on Instagram.
It is yet to be confirmed as to whether the man in question is related to the minor, who is about 2 or 3 years.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have expressed their willingness to adopt the child who was subjected to torture.
The Ghana Police Service has been urged to take every necessary action to apprehend two people in connection with the now-famous Mankessim ritual murder saga by Nana Akwa III, the Chief of Akwakrom in Mankessim in the Central Region.
The two people he wants detained are Christopher Ekow Quansah (Nana Clarke), the Tufuhen, who is now in detention, and the community’s fetish priest who was connected to one of the key suspects.
The other is a man named Mr. Kwesi Gyan, also a relative of Nana Clarke and the Abiradze Ebusuapayin.
The duo have disappeared since the issue of the murder of one Georgina Asor Botchwey, blew the lid on the alleged criminal activities of Nana Clarke and an accomplice Pastor Michael Darko Amponsah (Sofo Kofi).
The chief explained at a September 29 press conference why he wanted the “who could not be tracked since the news broke out,” to be arrested.
“We are appealing to the police to interrogate his fetish priest in the community who the Tufohen liked so much and took cover prior to his arrest,” Nana Akwa pleaded.
“Since the arrest of the Tufohen, all attempts to reach his Ebusuapanyin, who was always in the community, has not been successful. There is no way anyone can dig out two pits in two separate rooms in a family house without the knowledge of the Ebusuapanyin. This is incomprehensible.
“More so, prior to the arrest of the Tufohen, his Ebusuapanyin was billed to meet the Chief and elders on some teething community issues, but he cannot be found. And why is he not answering our calls,” the Chief revealed.
The Tufuhen and Sofo Kofi are facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime to wit murder and murder, contrary to Section 46 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1980, Act 29.
A Cape Coast District court presided over Her Lordship Bernice Mensima Ackon remanded them on their last appearance on September 2.
The court agreed to the request of prosecution – led by DSP Daniel Gadzo – for more time to conclude investigations. The case was adjourned to October 4, 2022.
A third person, one Aggrey, said to have dug the pit in which Georgina was buried has also been arretsed.
GNA report on police arrests and latest discoveries
Hundreds of people on Thursday gathered in front of the house of Christopher Ekow Quansah, the Tufuhen of Mankessim, to catch a glimpse of him and self-styled pastor Michael Darko, who allegedly murdered one Ms. Georgina Asor Botchwey.
A police team had led the two accused persons, who allegedly confessed to the killing of three more people, to the house of the Tufohen, located just after the Pacific Fuel Station, near the Mankessim Lorry Station for further investigations.
The crowd hooted at them amid name calling and casting of aspersions as drivers in traffic temporarily stopped over to watch the two, who have notoriously become famous.
A source told the GNA that the two accused persons had confessed to killing three other people, a male and two females and led the police team on Thursday afternoon, to the various locations.
The witness said the accused persons first took the team to the house of the Tufohen at Mankessim and Akwakrom near Mankessim, where they carried out their criminal activities.
The police thoroughly searched the rooms and took vital document and information for further investigation.
Again, in Mankessim, the two took the police team to a location where a male teacher was allegedly invited by them and was shot and killed instantly and his toes cut.
The police were also taken to a location in the Ekumfi District where they allegedly shot and killed a female trader and buried her under a bridge in the Ekumfi District.
The team also visited a location at Batanya in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamakese District, where they allegedly killed a young lady from Kumasi.
Apparently, the two pretended to be travel agents and prepared a traveling document for her to travel to Holland.
The two allegedly told the police that they met the lady at Batanyaa on the Cape Coast-Assin Fosu Highway and killed her.

Nana Akwa, during the press conference wondered how the Tufohen dug the craters containing numerous bottles and dead materials without the knowledge of the Ebusuapanyin.
“Since the arrest of the Tufohen, all attempts to reach his Ebusuapanyin, who was always in the community, has not been successful. There is no way anyone can dig out two pits in two separate rooms in a family house without the knowledge of the Ebusuapanyin. This is incomprehensible.

According to financial writer Toma Imihere, arresting people who are involved in illegal foreign exchange trading is not a long-term solution to the cedi’s decline.
Recently, the Ghana Police Service and the Bank of Ghana carried out an operation in strategic areas of Accra with the goal of cracking down on illegal foreign exchange operations, also referred to as “black market” operators.
Tomi Imihere, who is based in Accra, told Citi News about the incident and expressed the opinion that the government should instead adopt a long-term approach to deal with the black-market activities.
“You can’t even keep this thing up. You have black markets all around the country. The police are understaffed and under-resourced. They have their murder cases facing them, their kidnapping cases facing them, so they tend to prioritise,” the financial journalist is quoted by Citinewsroom.com
As part of efforts to address the cedi depreciation, Tomi Imihere suggested that the Bank of Ghana liberalise the formal market which is often represented by forex bureaus operating in the country.
“So, there will be less incentives for people to go and store up dollars in the hope of making a profit or at least storing value. What the Bank of Ghana needs to do is ease the restrictions on the formal market, especially at the retail end. All you do is you take out criminal money… but apart from that, let everything go without question,” he explained.
Meanwhile, some 76 individuals and entities have been arrested and are expected to face prosecution after the BoG and Police found them to have been engaged in the buying and selling of foreign exchange without approval or license from the regulator.
The activities of ‘black market’ operators have been attributed as one of the major causes for the depreciation of the cedi against major trading currencies, especially the US dollar.
The local currency is currently selling above GH¢10 to US$1 on the retail echange market.
Financial journalist Toma Imihere has opined that only arresting persons engaged in illegal foreign exchange trading is not a sustainable measure to address the depreciation of the cedi.
The Bank of Ghana in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service recently undertook an operation in key parts of Accra aimed at clamping down on unlawful foreign exchange operators, also known as ‘black market’ operators.
Speaking with Accra-based Citi News on the development, Tomi Imihere believes that government must rather adopt a permanent solution to addressing the black-market operations.
“You can’t even keep this thing up. You have black markets all around the country. The police are understaffed and under-resourced. They have their murder cases facing them, their kidnapping cases facing them, so they tend to prioritise.”

The students blocked roads, leading to the school in protest, after management failed to show up for their scheduled meeting over discrepancies in their results both online and on the notice board.
Per a Graphiconline report, the students, after waiting for some time, with no sign of the meeting happening, went on a rampage, broke down signposts and blocked some roads on campus.
The police who were then called upon were unable to control the students and therefore called for reinforcement.
This resulted in the firing of teargas to disperse the students.
Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested 21 foreign nationals believed to be illegal immigrantsat Akokoamong within the Ejisu Municipality.
The arrest follows a joint action by community members who say they have observed the suspicious activities of the persons for months and thus decided to hand them over to the police for further investigations to be conducted.
One of the community leaders, Mohammed Ali, said they caused the arrest of the foreigners because they believe they pose a security threat and as such, they want the relevant authorities to probe their operations.
“In the evenings, you will see them make calls. That is what they have been doing. So as residents, we have to be security conscious. Things go on around here and no one knows what they have been doing.”
The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS)has been advocating for stronger collaboration amongst all security agencies to meet the security needs of the country.
According to the GIS, Ghana’s porous borderlines pose a high-security threat to the country.
This threat needs a purposeful cross-intelligence and engagement amongst security agencies and community stakeholders to improve security alertness.

Mr Joseph Annan, Area Enforcement Manager of GRA in charge of Accra Central, told the Ghana News Agency that they had violated regulations of the Value Added Tax (VAT).
He said the exercise or operations were part of an ongoing nationwide VAT Invigilation exercise by the authority to retrieve some taxes due the State.
He said the Police would do their investigations, but for them as tax administrators, “we will assess their books and then apply all the penalties and interest that are applicable.”
He said it was an offence not to issue the VAT invoice and the law would take its own course.
Mr Annan said the GRA as part of a nationwide invigilation would continue to embark on mystery shopping exercises across the country to apprehend culprits evading tax.
“We will continue this exercise until our taxpayers do the needful,” he added.
He said the Authority in their auditing process would conduct a pre-emptive assessment, which meant that they would have to pay immediately, but then they would recommend a full audit to be conducted.
Mr Annan said even though they would audit their books, the legal aspect would be handled by the CID, where they would prepare their docket for possible prosecution.

In what is believed to be a string of ritual killings that have struck Wa, the capital of the Upper West Regional, four dead have been found, and a thorough search is still on for three missing people.
At Bamahu, a Wa suburb, a suspect named Kankani Adongo was detained last Tuesday.
Latest body
The last of the four bodies, which was in an early stage of decomposition, was discovered last Monday in an uncompleted building near the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) on the Wa-Kumasi road.
Last Sunday, the third body was found in a shallow grave.
A statement issued by the police said the Special Purpose Police Intelligence and Investigation teams working with members of the Wa community said on September 18, 2022, the body was discovered in a shallow grave at Bamahu, a suburb of Wa.
The deceased was identified by family members as Seidu Baga, who was reported missing on September 16, 2022.
The bodies had been deposited at the Upper West Regional Hospital morgue by the Special Purpose Intelligence and Investigation team dispatched by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, to the municipality, in the aftermath of demonstrations by residents calling for police action over the killings.
The police said a pathologist from the Police Hospital was heading to Wa as part of the investigations.
Police presence
The presence of the special police team had raised hopes among residents for the arrest of the perpetrators of the heinous crimes.
The Police High Command had announced a GH¢100,000 reward for anyone who would come with tangible information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Visits
Meanwhile, the IGP had ended a three-day duty tour of the region, which took him to all the districts to acquaint himself with the police preparedness to combat crime.
The Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, had also been to Wa where he met leaders of the Wala Traditional Council and gave an assurance of thorough investigations to bring the perpetrators to book.
In various sections of Accra, the police have detained 76 people for allegedly indulging in the unlawful trading of foreign currencies (forex), particularly US dollars.
Last Tuesday, a special squad from the Ghana Police Service (GPS) and the Bank of Ghana (BoG) descended on the suspects and took them into custody for illegally buying and selling foreign currency in Accra’s Central Business District (CBD), including the CFA Franc, the euro, and the British pound.
They have now been taken into police custody to help with the investigation leading to their conviction after being collected up from the Rawlings Park, Tudu, Cowlane, the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Kinbu, Timber Market, and Lava.
The special team, made up of staff from the Foreign Exchange Bureau Office of BoG and police officers, moved from one spot to another, arresting the operators who were engaged in the practice.
According to the act, any person engaged in the business of dealing in foreign exchange without a licence committed an offence and was liable to summary conviction to a fine of not more than 700 penalty units or a term of imprisonment of not more than 18 months or both.
Nationwide exercise
The Head of the Foreign Exchange Bureau Office of BoG, Adjoa Konadu-Tortor, told the media after the exercise that the majority of those arrested were foreigners engaged in the illegal act.
According to Mrs Konadu-Tortor, the exercise formed part of a special operation by the central bank, in partnership with the police, to rid the system of the illegal forex traders, popularly called ‘black market operators’.
She said it was in line with efforts to sanitise the forex market of illegal operators by ensuring that only licensed operators were allowed to trade in foreign currencies.
She stated that similar swoops would be carried out nationwide, with a special focus on places known to be hotbeds for the illegal trading of forex.
The Head of the central bank’s Foreign Exchange Bureau Office described the exercise as long overdue, especially given the “havoc” it caused to the economy and the local currency.
Meanwhile, a statement from the Financial Stability Department of BoG said the swoop on illegal forex traders would be complemented by other measures to help sanitise the forex market.
It said the measures included enforcement of compliance from licensed foreign exchange bureau, particularly with the taking of customer identification (Ghana card) and issuance of electronic receipt for every forex transaction, intensified public sensitisation and media engagements to educate the general public on forex rules and regulations
The decision was made in response to a special operation the two institutions undertook on foreign exchange parallel market operators, also known as black market operators.
The offenders who were found in the Rawlings Park, Makola, and Tudu hotspots in Accra’s Central Business District are anticipated to be prosecuted.
The local currency has fallen sharply against the dollar and other important foreign currencies, according to claims made by “Black Market” sellers.
“This special operation was part of the Bank’s overall strategy to sanitize the foreign exchange market. Other measures being put in place include enforcement of compliance from licensed foreign exchange bureaux particularly with the taking of customer identification (Ghana card) and issuance of electronic receipt for every forex transaction; intensified public sensitization and media engagements to educate the general public on forex rules and regulations, including the need to avoid the black market,” she said.
The Bank further issued a strong caution to the general public to desist from engaging in the services of foreign exchange businesses operating without a licence.
“The Bank cautions the general public to desist from engaging in foreign exchange business without a licence. Members of the public who patronise the activities of black market operators are equally guilty before the law. The general public must always trade with the Bank of Ghana licensed foreign exchange (forex) bureaux,” she noted.
Intercity STC Managing Director, Nana Akomea, has lauded the Ghana Police Service for their arrest of a suspect in connection with recent killings in Wa municipality in the Upper West Region.
Fear has gripped residents at Wa following serial killings and kidnapping in the municipality.
The suspect, Kankani Adongo, was arrested at Bamahu, a suburb of Wa after extensive collaboration between the Police and community search parties.
The suspect is in custody and will be arraigned to face justice.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has also assured the community that the Police will arrest all the perpetrators as they don’t believe the crimes were committed by one suspect.
“Be assured that we will keep improving on the security situation because we are there for you,” IGP assured the residents.
Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show with Nana Yaw Kesseh, Nana Akomea bemoaned the shocking incident but strongly believed the Police will find all the accomplices.
He asked the residents to assist the Police to bring closure to the murders in the Region saying, “let us all support the Police to ensure these killings at Wa come to an end and the suspects arrested . . . even if it’s in Accra that about 10 people have been killed in three weeks – one month – there will be fears, not to talk of Wa. So, we commend the Police for taking swift steps and pray for a way forward so that our people in Wa will have peace”.
The recent strange killings of security personnel in the Upper West Regional Capital, Wa, is alleged to be ritual killings, according to Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa West.
The MP added that the killings had to be ritualistic because all the victims had body parts are taken, especially their internal and sensory organs, in an interview with Neat FM that GhanaWeb was listening to.
Lanchene Toobu added that the regional capital has so far recorded at least five such ritual killings.
“What is happening in Wa now is that people keep going missing daily, people are being killed, dead bodies are being found in shallow graves. This is what is happening in Wa now but we don’t know where the killings are done, we only find the bodies.
“Also, the victims that have been found so far have some part of their bodies cut off which in police terms is referred to as ritual killing. Some of the victims have their genitals cut off, their eyes removed and their chest and abdomen dissected. They are being killed for ritual purposes,” he said in Twi.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has arrested one suspect who is alleged to be involved in the series of murders of security men in Wa.
According to the police, the suspect, Kankani Adongo, is allegedly involved in at least the recent murder of a 58-year-old security man.
In a post shared on Facebook, Monday, the police said that Adongo was arrested with the help of some community search parties.
“The Police have arrested one person believed to be the prime suspect behind the Wa murder case.
“Suspect Kankani Adongo was arrested on 19th September 2022 at Bamahu, a suburb of Wa after extensive collaboration between the Police and community search parties.
“(The) suspect is in custody and will be arraigned before the court to face justice,” parts of the post shared by the police read.
The accused were engaged in repairing damaged cylinders and reselling them when they were apprehended after receiving a tip.
During the operation on September 16, 2022, three-cylinder trucks weighing between 5 and 14.5 kg, wielding tools, cutting and grinding equipment, paints, and accessories were all seized from the suspects.
Director of Gas at NPA, Mrs. Akua Ntiwaa Kwakye speaking with journalists explained that “upon the Authority’s investigations, we found out that the suspects were operating at this yard without permit and certification from the appropriate authorities.”
“It is obvious they are compromising on quality for their parochial interest at the detriment of the unsuspecting consumers of gas,” she added.
Mrs. Kwakye further added that these refurbished cylinders form part of the major causes of fire outbreaks that take place in various marketplaces, workplaces, and households.
She pointed out that the high number of household fires that had lost lives and property had made the NPA’s action crucial, and she said that it was essential for everyone to denounce these bad deeds.

In the release, which was signed by Director of Public Affairs, Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Police further indicated that, “Four other deep dug-out pits have also been uncovered by the Police in other houses in the same vicinity”.
The arrest of the traditional leader comes at a time when there are widespread concerns about the involvement of chiefs in the illicit act.
Following the re-emergence of galamsey kingpin, Aisha Huang, some citizens have accused traditional leaders of being complicit in the act.
According to them, some traditional leaders conspire with illegal miners and give them lands to facilitate their mining activities.
In the wake of these developments, government has reaffirmed its commitment to dealing with the menace, and bringing all perpetrators to book.
Meanwhile, regarding the arrest of the chief of Sefwi Elubo, the Police said, “Investigation has further revealed that the chief, his brother and six other suspects who are on the run are the main people behind the illegal mining activities”
“As investigation continues, we would like to assure the public that all those involved will be brought to face justice”, the statement concluded.
In a Twitter post sighted by GhanaWeb, the Ghana Police Service wrote: “The suspects who are being held for various offences attacked some of the funs with toy guns, cutlasses, knives, scissors and other offensive weapons at different locations towards the end of the concert.”
In a separate tweet, they added: “The Police arrested 42 suspects during the Ashiaman to the World concert held on 3rd August, 2022 at the Saka Saka park in Ashiaman in the Greater Accra Region.”
Meanwhile, veteran broadcaster, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, popularly known as KKD, has disclosed that police personnel narrated how robbers outnumber them despite efforts to prevent casualties this year.
“The police told me that this wasn’t the first time robberies had taken place at the concert. It happens yearly when armed robbers intentionally storm the place. An official told me that his regional command deployed more police personnel, but the armed robbers outnumbered them. They were more than the police. I will plead with the organizers to maybe change the venue because that same Ashiaman route was where I was robbed. They took away all my phones and dollars,” KKD disclosed in an interview on Onua Maakye on Monday, September 5.
He added that a woman who was rushed to the Tema General Hospital sustained knife injuries.
“Police personnel were deployed to the concert however the thieves outnumbered them. I witnessed a fair lady whose thigh had been slashed with a knife. She was rushed to Tema General Hospital. Also, a young man was cut with a sharp object, his shirt had been cut open with scissors.”

The Deputy Minister in charge of lands and forestry Mr. Benito Owusu-Bio, has toured a housing development for employees of the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Meteorological Service, and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).
The site visit was to assess the progress of work and to ensure that the project will be delivered on time.
The Deputy Minister stated that a community police station would also provide services to residents of the nearby districts.
The project, which is a land swap deal between the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources; the Ministry of the Interior, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission and a private developer, is situated in Kwabenya, a suburb of Accra.
It includes 504 housing units, a clinic, a school block, a police maintenance unit, a police barrack, a police station, a fuel depot and a garage.
The Technical Director at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Maxwell Adu-Nsarfoa, who accompanied the Deputy Minister, disclosed that the project involves moving the inhabitants of the Ghana Airport Company and the Meteorological Service to the Jubilee Enclave to make room for the construction of the Jubilee City Project.
The Ghana Police Service has launched a community-based policing strategy that will foster collaboration between personnel of the service and local authorities to enforce law, order and security in metropolises, municipalities and districts across the country.
Such collaboration will also enable the public to identify, prioritise and address pertinent issues of crime in their various communities.
Dubbed: “Enhanced visibility and community policing strategyâ€, the plan will build on past community policing experiences to enhance police operations.
The police will also intensify day and night patrols within small defined areas in various police districts and establish good relations, rapport and trust with residents of those areas.
Also, district police commanders, who will be the main drivers of the strategy, will be required to develop security and crime prevention plans with stakeholders in their respective jurisdictions.
Visibility
The Director-General of the National Patrol Department of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police (COP) Paul Manly Awini, who launched the strategy document in Accra yesterday, said the plan would not only increase police visibility in communities but also ensure that personnel worked more in collaboration with opinion leaders and state agencies to sustain law and order in those areas.
He said over the past decade, the community policing concept had made a significant contribution to the fight against crime in the country, hence the need to further enrich the concept and make it more effective.
“It has become necessary to increase police visibility in zones where the fear of crime still exists and where crime and anti-social behaviour affect the daily lives of members of the public,†COP Awini said.
The strategy, he said, integrated key elements of a community crime fighting and removal of fear of crime initiative, adding: “The launch of this strategy comes at a time when the Police Administration is making efforts to transform the law enforcement agency and make communities safer for the people.â€
It would also enhance crime prevention campaigns, in partnership with neighbourhood watch committees, residents associations, community protection assistants and other stakeholders, he said.
COP Awinifurther said strategies developed by stakeholders at MMDAs would become their road map, an important element of local police accountability.
Commendation
The D-G commended consultants and the technical working group for their efforts at producing the final document for the implementation of the strategy.
He also expressed gratitude to the German Development Agency (GIZ) for providing support and expertise for the Police Service for the development of the strategy.
COP Awini urged the public to support the police in making the strategy effective, saying: “Security is a shared responsibility between the police and members of the public.â€

In an interview with Accra-based Asaase Radio, the University’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, explained that the attack was occasioned by a procession by Katanga Hall boys to mark their hall week celebration.
According to him, when they got to Conti, the Katanga boys together with colleagues from Casely Hayford, Casford, from the University of Cape Coast; launched unprovoked attacks on the Conti hall residents.

President Akufo-Addo has on Monday, 15th August 2022, presented 1,500 motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service.
The presentation, according to the President is affirmation of his commitment to provide the Ghana Police Service with the necessary logistics it requires, to help the Service continue to effect its mandate of maintaining law and order, and protecting lives and property.
Speaking at the event at the Police Headquarters, Presidemt Akufo-Addo stated that the vision of the of the police service which seeks to regain the confidence, trust and respect of the public, and deepen police legitimacy, has the full backing of Government.
“An institution, such as the Police Service, needs to renew constantly itself in order to respond adequately to the security needs of the country, and I believe Ghanaians are witnesses to the pragmatic steps being taken by the Service in this regard,†he said.
The President continued, “Government is very much aware of the efforts being put in place by personnel of the Service, under the dynamic leadership of the Inspector-General of Police and members of the Police Management Board, to intensify targeted operations in communities which, hitherto, were notorious for violent crimes.â€
He noted that the ongoing programme to boost the manpower needs of the Service is necessary for the effective implementation of the bold, strategic interventions launched by the Service to improve its service delivery to Ghanaians.
“Government, last year, gave approval for the police to recruit 5,000 officers. Some 3,000 of those recruited have passed out, with the remaining still under training. These officers are the first batch of men and women to benefit from the modified police training curricular, which is focused on equipping the police officers with skills in driving, swimming and motorbike riding in addition to other tactical and soft skills,†he said.
It is for this reason that the President was delighted to hand over the 1,500 motorbikes to the Police Service, and further urged the Service to continue doing the good work it is doing to keep all of us safe.
“I am confident that these bikes will be put to very good use, as they will reach the communities who need them the most. I assure the Police Administration that this is just the beginning. More and more motorbikes will come in soon, to help ensure that every single community in the country benefits from the enhanced community policing model. Government will increase the number of motorbikes presented by Government to five thousand (5,000) by the end of next year,†he said.
The President urged the Police to show presence, improve their response time, and patrol the streets and the inner cities, after taking over the motorbikes.
“I urge you to help ensure that no community is left out in the distribution of these bikes, even as you prioritise the areas that are most critical. I entreat officers who will use these bikes to take good care of them but, more importantly, to pay particular attention to their safety and the safety of other road users while on the road,†he stressed.
Meanwhile, The Police Service, under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has embarked on a transformation agenda, aimed at positioning the Service to become one of the best institutions in the country, and a model institution for the rest of the world.
Security Analyst, Adib Saani, has stated that the Ghana Police Service’s intention to replace who die in line personnel with competent relatives is apt.
According to him, the move will ensure that personnel of the Ghana Police Service give their best while in the line of duty because they know that even if they die on duty, their families will be taken care of.
In an exclusive interview, the security expert explained to GhanaWeb that even in the United States, the families of police and military personnel who passed away in the line of duty are referred to as Gold Star Families and are accorded special consideration.
“Usually, it is only proper that such families (the family who lose relations in the line of duty) are given priority because they have lost a very important person they relied on. When the person dies, things become very difficult, particularly for the spouse and the children, so there is a need for that social cover.
“However, there is a caveat; it has to still be on merit. And I am excited that he (the IGP) added the word qualified. When you go to countries such as the US, for example, military families who have lost their loved ones are termed as Gold Star Families, and they are given preferential treatment wherever they find themselves because they have relatives who have submitted to the state and died for the state.
“The same can be said for officers of the Ghana Police Service. And (this measure) will send the right signal to the police officers that whatever they do for the good of the country is for their own good as well. And they will be assured that there is enough social cover for their family in case anything happens. So, they are able to work with all their hearts, and they will be happy to do so every day,†he said.
At a public lecture held on Thursday at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare revealed that qualified relatives would take the position of police officers killed in the line of duty.
Dr. Dampare said that the move is part of initiatives being taken by the leadership of the police to encourage officers to give their best.
“When a police officer dies on duty, we have put new measures in place to ensure that a relative of the deceased officer who is qualified is recruited into the service as part of efforts to urge our officers to do their best in protecting the public,†he said.

Two robbers who were arrested by the Police at Abesewa, a suburb of Dunkwa-On-Offin in the Central Region have been slapped with a 20-year and 10-year jail term (respectively) in hard labour.
