There is no room for rivalries in the Gospel fraternity – Joe Mettle

Ghanaian gospel singer Joe Mettle emphasized that rivalries have no place in the gospel music community. He believes that since gospel artists share the common goal of worshiping the same God, there should be no room for conflicts or disputes, commonly known as “beefs.”

During an interview with Caroline Sampson on Asaase Café, Mettle expressed his perspective: “Are there beefs in the gospel industry? I’m not sure there are any. In the gospel [music] industry, we are serving the same Lord; it’s just that He gives diverse gifts unto us where, together, we bring it to honor Him. So, if we are both honoring and serving the same master, why are we beefing?”

He further explained, “We are serving the same body. You may be the hand, someone else will be the legs, and together we make the same kingdom and bring glory to God. So, why do I have to beef with you? There is no need for that.”

Mettle highlighted his approach to handling negativity and challenges within the industry, stating, “When the negativity comes, I identify the God factor in it, and when I do it works together for my good. By God’s grace, I have achieved certain feats based on negativity that came but I didn’t allow it to get to me. I don’t waste my pain, and I don’t waste my challenges; I utilize them for good.”

Even Kennedy Agyapong with all his powers couldn’t bring me down – Obinim to critics

General Overseer of the International Godsway Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has come under fire after a video emerged showing him instructing his followers to make seed offerings of at least GH¢20, dismissing smaller amounts as disrespectful to God.

In the video, Obinim urged those who had given GH¢5 or GH¢10 to retrieve their money to avoid it becoming a curse.

Despite facing significant criticism, Obinim has remained unfazed, stating that the negative feedback has not affected him.

Pushing back against his critics, Obinim emphasized his resilience, citing unsuccessful attempts by his adversary, Kennedy Agyapong, to tarnish his reputation.

During a church service, Obinim remarked, “Kennedy Agyapong, who tried to destroy me, couldn’t succeed. If he, with all his power and wealth, failed, how much less can you? Do you know the challenges I faced because of him? I’ve been summoned by the EOCO, BNI, GRA, National Security, CID, and various courts.”

In 2020, Kennedy Agyapong launched a campaign against certain pastors, accusing them of fraud and exploiting religion.

Agyapong clashed with several figures, including Obinim, leveling allegations of misconduct such as infidelity, money laundering, and spreading false teachings.

This conflict led to Obinim’s arrest by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and subsequent charges for spreading false information, fraud, and document forgery under sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act.

  • Sex is “a gift from God” – Pope Francis

Sex is “a gift from God” – Pope Francis

Pope Francis said that God gave us the gift of sexual pleasure, and we should use it carefully and with patience.

He also said that watching pornography can lead to addiction because it gives pleasure without a real relationship.

The Pope was talking to a lot of people in the Vatican on Wednesday.

The sermon was about the Pope talking about the bad things caused by wanting too much pleasure.

The pope said that desire for sex ruins relationships between people and he also said that the news every day shows this.

“He asked how many good relationships have turned bad over time. ”

The Pope said this a few days after his new chief of teaching, Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández, was criticized for a book he wrote and published in the late 1990s called Mystical Passion: Spirituality and Sensuality.

The book is no longer available to buy. It talked about sex and gave a lot of details about how men and women feel during orgasms. Cardinal Fernández talked to a Catholic website called Crux and said he wrote the book when he was younger, and he definitely wouldn’t write it now.

Some people who have traditional views have criticized the book and said it was unsuitable for Cardinal Fernández to be in charge of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Pope Francis and Cardinal Fernández have upset conservative Catholic people before.

In December, Cardinal Fernández made a new rule that allows priests to bless same-sex couples. Pope Francis also agreed with this rule.

Even though Cardinal Fernández said the position doesn’t make same-sex couples okay in the Catholic Church, many conservatives still think it’s a problem.

Cardinal Gerhard Müller, who was in charge of the Church’s teachings under Pope Benedict XVI, strongly criticized the Vatican’s document. Cardinal Müller said online that a priest blessing a gay union would be a very disrespectful and offensive thing to do.

“Cardinal Müller said that according to the rules for this kind of blessings, people could even give blessings to places like abortion clinics or groups like the mafia. ”

Leaders from all over the world spoke out against the decision. This includes conservative Americans who have always been against the Pope’s plans to change the Catholic Church.

Tensions got really bad when the Pope kicked a US Cardinal, Raymond Burke, out of his apartment at the Vatican and stopped paying him.

  • A crush of mine introduced me to Christ – Archbishop Agyinasare

A crush of mine introduced me to Christ – Archbishop Agyinasare

Founder and Bishop of Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, has revealed his journey to accepting Jesus Christ as his savior.

In an interview on Onua Maakye on January 17, the Archbishop shared that before his repentance, he engaged in deviant behaviors such as weed-smoking and womanizing.

Recalling his time as a teacher in Tamale, he mentioned being enamored with a lady who insisted he accompany her to church before considering his proposal. Despite being high on marijuana that night, he followed her to a Pentecost church.

“I was in Tamale as a pupil teacher, and my antics were many. When I made my intentions known to her, she told me she had a boyfriend named Jesus. She said if I allowed her to introduce me to her boyfriend, she would accept my proposal,” he recounted to the host, Captain Smart.

At that time, Archbishop Agyinasare was practicing Buddhism, considering the invitation as a joke. Nevertheless, he agreed to meet “that boy [Jesus].” The pivotal moment occurred during the church service that night, leading to a transformative experience.

“I only remember the preacher made an altar call, and I stepped forward. Since then, the power of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and lust broke from my life,” he narrated.

Archbishop Agyinasare shared that two weeks later, God spoke to him through a dream, instructing him to start his ministry. Despite skepticism from his father about the sudden change, the Archbishop attributes the transformation to the grace of God working miraculously in his life.

“I was in Tamale as a pupil teacher and my antics were many, so as a teacher, a parent requested for extra hours. So, when I got to the house, I met two ladies and I liked both ladies, but I wanted to be with one of them.

“When I made my intentions known to her, she told me she had a boyfriend and I asked who the boyfriend was and she said his name was Jesus and if you allow me introduce you to my boyfriend, then I will accept to be yours,” he recounted to the host, Captain Smart.

  • True men of God don’t need bodyguards – Rev Som-Pinpong

True men of God don’t need bodyguards – Rev Som-Pinpong

Rev. Dr. Albert Som-Pinpong has contended that it is not in line with scripture or biblical teachings for pastors to have bodyguards.

During the Adom Mmere morning show on No.1 FM, he argued that even in Israel, where Christianity originated, Jesus Christ had no bodyguards.

The US-based pastor emphasized that pastors, regardless of their titles like bishop or apostle, do not have the right to have bodyguards.

According to Rev. Som-Pinpong, the notion that Jesus Christ had bodyguards is apostasy or blasphemous.

Based on this, he asserted, “No pastor, whether you call yourself bishop, archbishop, circle bishop, square bishop, triangular bishop, or general apostle, apostle,” etc., “you don’t have the right to have a bodyguard”.

“It becomes an apostasy or blasphemous when we say Jesus Christ had bodyguards – and the disciples were his bodyguards. They weren’t his bodyguards. They were people that he called to send out to proclaim his word”.

He clarified that Jesus’ disciples were not his bodyguards but individuals called to proclaim his word.

The pastor insisted that a pastor only needs a bodyguard if there’s something hidden, stolen, or if they have offended someone.

“He’ll not allow the weapons of the wicked to fall on your lot so that you will not be prompted to do evil”.

“So, God is our protector, he’s our shepherd, he’s our everything and if we surrender to him and walk with him, and preach the word as he wants us to preach it, there’ll be no need for bodyguards,” the pastor of 50 years exhorted”, he said.

Drawing from Psalms, he highlighted God’s promise of protection to his servants, stating that surrendering to God eliminates the need for bodyguards.

Rev. Som-Pinpong criticized church leaders who measure their impact by physical edifices, warning that they may be denied by the Lord Jesus on the day of his return.

Quoting from the prophet Isaiah, he reminded church leaders that the entire universe cannot house God, emphasizing that God desires to indwell the poor, downtrodden, and brokenhearted.

He underlined that the real church is the people gathered to God, and focusing on God’s word and leading people to Christ builds a house for God.

God is a Ghanaian – Asiedu Nketiah says

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, is of the firm assertion that God Almighty, described as Father for all, is a Ghanaian.

Mr Nketiah pronounced God a Ghanaian during the inauguration ceremony of 11 members of the party to serve as members of the National Executive Committee.

He noted that with God on Ghana’s side, the country will be able to avoid the military takeovers happening in the sub-region.

According to Mr Asiedu Nketiah, the tumbling of democratic governance in countries such as Niger, Burkina Faso, and Gabon should be a wake-up call for the government.

He admitted that the difficult economic conditions Ghanaians face, which have prompted military takeovers in other countries, will be resolved due to divine intervention.

He said: “We have never had this length of democratic stability, so it is something we should value and we shouldn’t toil with.

The happenings in the sub-region ought to be a wake up call. All of us, I know that the challenges are daunting. But somehow I believe that God is a Ghanaian so we shall overcome it. And we will survive and protect this our stability.”

Don’t kill yourself over marriage – Auntie B

Actress Auntie B has stressed the importance of marriage while cautioning against pursuing it to one’s detriment.

The renowned actress, known for her roles in popular TV series like Concert Party and Efiewura, said this on Thursday, July 6, 2023 in an interview with the media.

“I am not married at the moment,” she disclosed.

“Marriage is important, it’s good,” she said. “When by God’s grace, someone comes into your life and you get married, hold and cherish it dearly.”

However, “if you are not yet married, don’t kill yourself for it,” she added.

She shared examples of marriages she is aware of, one that ended in less than eight days and another where the person endured years of distressing experiences, likening it to the relentless battering of sea waves, despite maintaining a facade of normalcy in public.

“This person does not look [as good] as they did before marriage,” she noted, stressing that “It’s two things: if the opportunity comes, fine, but if it doesn’t, at this point in my life, I’m not bothered.”

In a near-comic remark, she said she had “tasted all there is from super small to super big” so much so that “if, naturally, the act [sex] was done through the mouth, I’d have lost all my teeth by now.”

She clarified: “It’s not like I double date or I am promiscuous but I have tasted it all before so if I am not yet married, I won’t kill myself.”

“Ultimately, may God’s will be done,” she added. “So, if God brings it, I’ll hold it and nurture it.”

She said “the man who will be lucky” to marry her will have such a great experience.

Auntie B intimated that she knows how to handle marriage and “pamper a man to get pampering from same”.

Auntie B advises women to prioritize pampering their men to prevent losing them to competitors who excel in that aspect.

She emphasizes that the foundation of a successful marriage lies in truth and understanding.

Additionally, she clarifies that she is not overly selective when it comes to choosing male partners.

“God created all men so I’m fine with whatever I get,” she added. “What matters is the level will correspond to mine so that when we’re in bed, everything will be great.”

She suggests that even if things do not go as expected, there are various intimate styles to explore. In the worst-case scenario, she believes it is her responsibility to nurture and appreciate her partner without complaining.

When asked about the possibility of marrying football superstar Asamoah Gyan, considering her publicly expressed feelings for him, she did not provide a direct response.

  • Odd News: Ancient Egyptian mummies found with gold tongues meant to help them talk with the god of the underworld

Ancient Egyptian mummies have been discovered with golden tongues inserted in their mouths.

Researchers believe they were meant to help the dead talk with Osiris, the god of the underworld, per The Daily Mail.

The mummies were found in the Quewaisna necropolis, about 40 miles south of Cairo in Egypt, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said in a Facebook post on November 24.

It is the latest in a series of mummies found with gold tongues in the mouth.

Last year, archaeologists reported finding mummies with gold tongues twice, once in El Bahnasa, about 136 miles south of Cairo, and once in Alexandria.

Those mummies were about 2,500 and about 2,000 years old respectively.

Mustafa Waziri, secretary-general of the Supreme Council for Archeology, said the mummies in the Quewaisna necropolis were in a poor state of preservation.

Gold flakes were also found on the bones of some of the remains, per the Facebook post, suggesting their bodies were sprinkled with gold.

Some of the flakes were shaped into lotus flowers or scarabs, ARTNews reported.

It’s not clear when the mummies were buried, as the cemetery was used during three distinct historical periods: the Ptolemaic period, and two phases in the Roman era.

Amulets, figurines, and pottery, were also found at the site.

Ancient Egyptians believed the deceased could take items with them in the afterlife, so often buired them with objects meant to help.

Deceased dignitaries have been found buried with mummified food, mummified animals, protective amulets and figurines, elaborate face masks, and even boats.
