Sex is medicinal, it shouldn’t be done outside of marriage – Selina Boateng

Gospel singer Selina Boateng recently discussed the health benefits of sex during an interview with Taller Dee on the Journey to Heaven show on No.1 FM, 105.3.

Boateng described sex as a form of medicine, noting that it can have physiological benefits.

She shared that doctors sometimes inquire about sexual activity when diagnosing illnesses, emphasizing that sex can release hormones that alleviate headaches and depression.

“Sex is medicinal. It’s medicine,” she said.

To buttress, she added: “Sometimes when you report sick to the hospital, the doctor asks if you’ve had sex. Yes, I’ve been asked that before.”

The sexual activity releases “hormones,” Selina noted. “The feelings you get from sex, there’s medicine in it.”

Sexual acts like “smooching,” she said, can take away various forms of “headaches and depression”.

“If you’re married, you have every right to use sex,” she said, admonishing, however, “If you’re not married, it is immoral to do it. It is not against the Bible when you’re married.”

Selina Boateng encouraged spouses “to freely give sex” to their partners “no matter where they find themselves”.

However, “don’t do it in public in the full glare of others for whatever reason,” she said, urging respect for public decency laws.

She highlighted that sexual activities, including simple acts like kissing, can be therapeutic and help in relaxation, attributing this to the biological processes designed by God.

Boateng stressed that sex is an integral part of human experience and should be enjoyed within marriage.

She encouraged married couples to embrace their sexual relationship fully while respecting public decency laws and maintaining privacy.

The singer also mentioned that she has personally found sex to be a way to unwind after performances, as long as the opportunity arises.

I believe in love and marriage, despite my past challenges – Joyce Blessing

Gospel singer Joyce Blessing has expressed that, despite her past hardships, she still believes in love and marriage.

In a September 3, 2024, interview on 3FM, the award-winning artist shared that, although her previous experiences have been painful, she remains open to the possibility of remarrying, calling it a “beautiful thing.”

Joyce emphasized the importance of entering relationships that prioritize inner peace rather than trying to constantly please one’s partner.

Reflecting on her journey, she mentioned that her past has taught her valuable lessons, which she will use to protect future relationships.

“Marriage and love are beautiful when you’re with someone who truly understands and accepts you. Being yourself is crucial,” she said in her conversation with Giovani Caleb.

Joyce Blessing and her ex-husband, Dave Joy, who was also her manager, ended their marriage after nearly ten years.

The couple, who share three children, reportedly separated due to infidelity issues on both sides.

Being a musician is not as lucrative as it may publicly appear – Joyce Blessing

Gospel singer Joyce Blessing has shared that while being a musician may not be as financially rewarding as it appears, she remains content, thanks to the support she receives.

She acknowledged the challenges of the industry but expressed gratitude for the occasional gifts and tips from her fans, noting that the appreciation behind these gestures means more than their monetary value.

She recounted a recent instance where a fan in the timber industry surprised her with GH¢1,000 via mobile money, expressing his admiration for her music.

“Some of the gifts are not weighty but the appreciation is worth more than anything else to me,” she said.

Another time, she was gifted US$100 after performing at a birthday celebration, apart from her standard fee.

Additionally, she mentioned that fans at the market often give her food items for free as a token of their appreciation.

Blessing, who appeared on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo, fondly reflected on a significant gesture from businessman Nana Appiah Mensah, also known as NAM1.

After performing at a bank event where she had to cover the expenses for her band, NAM1 surprised her two years later with GH¢10,000 as a show of appreciation for her effort.

She remains thankful for all the kindness shown to her, acknowledging that she may not always be able to thank everyone individually.

Ultimately, she views her music as a personal gift to her fans and the Christian community, made possible by her faith and devotion.

Gospel musicians receive inadequate compensation for their performances- Philipa Baafi

Renowned gospel singer Philipa Baafi recently spoke out about the concerning issue of inadequate compensation for gospel musicians following their performances.

In an interview with DJ Toxic on Neat FM’s “My Praise,” Baafi highlighted the financial challenges faced by gospel artists, emphasizing the lack of financial care and recognition despite their dedication to their craft.

Baafi noted that this lack of financial incentives has contributed to a decline in gospel music, with many talented artists leaving the genre.

She shared an incident where an instrumentalist confronted a musician over non-payment after a performance, illustrating the ongoing financial struggles within the industry.

Expressing her dismay at the exploitation of gospel musicians by event organizers who fail to compensate them fairly, Baafi revealed that many musicians have switched to secular genres due to insufficient support.

“Many secular musicians started in the church but left because they were not properly supported,” Philipa Baafi revealed.

She pointed out that despite the significant investment gospel musicians make in their careers, they often receive minimal returns as their work is seen as a service to God.

Baafi also highlighted the financial hardships faced by aging musicians, attributing their public appeals for assistance to the industry’s inadequate funding.

Her call for fair recognition and support for gospel musicians underscores the need for a more equitable compensation system within the gospel music industry.

Gospel Singer Erico recounted a story in which his “small boy,” a young companion he lives with, exposed him to his partner abroad.

He confessed to yielding to temptation by inviting another lady into his bedroom.

While the lady was present in his home half naked, his “small boy” decided to livestream the scene via WhatsApp while his partner overseas quietly watched.

“My partner lives abroad, and I reside in Ghana. On one occasion, I gave in to temptation and welcomed a lady into my home. Much to my dismay, the boy I live with, whom I’ve cared for like a child, used this opportunity to betray me. Sadly, I fell into the trap, but I’ve sought forgiveness through prayer. As I interacted with the lady at home, he covertly placed his phone in his front pocket. The boy then encouraged my partner to stay silent on the phone while he secretly recorded our interaction via a live WhatsApp call, catching us in a compromising situation.”

Erico later discovered that his partner overseas had been communicating with his “small boy” all along, as well as sending him money.

South African gospel singer charged of ordering death of her boyfriend

Kelly Khumalo, a gospel singer from South Africa, has been accused of telling someone to kill her boyfriend, Senzo Meyiwa, who was a football star at the time. This information was given in court.

In 2014, Mr Meyiwa got shot while trying to keep Ms Khumalo safe from robbers with guns. In 2020, five people were taken into custody by the police.

Investigator Bongani Gininda said in court that Ms Khumalo planned a contract killing.

Ms Khumalo’s representative told the BBC that they believe in the legal system.

They said that Ms Khumalo couldn’t say anything but her lawyers are working on the problem.

The trial of the people accused of killing Mr Meyiwa, who used to be the national football team captain and a goalkeeper for Orlando Pirates, has captured the country’s attention.

Ms Khumalo was first thought to be involved after police papers were leaked in 2020 when the men were arrested.

At that time, her lawyer told the local media that the gospel singer didn’t know about the five people.

Mr Gininda said in court that one of the suspects admitted in a statement that Ms Khumalo told them to kill Mr Meyiwa.

The main investigator also said that Ms Khumalo was connected to the suspects through their cell phones.

Last year, Colonel Lambertus Steyn from the National Cold Case Investigation Unit said that Ms Khumalo had talked to one of the accused at least two times before Mr Meyiwa was killed.

Also, Ms Khumalo had a picture of money in a see-through bag on her phone. The same picture was also on one of the suspect’s phones.

The court is figuring out if the confession statements can be used as evidence. Two of the people accused say they were forced to confess.

Ms Khumalo and Mr Meyiwa had a baby.

But Mr Gininda said the two had a disagreement.

He said that Ms Khumalo really didn’t like him and wanted to make him go away.

He said that messages between Ms Khumalo and her sister from early 2013 showed that she wanted to get rid of him.

Mahama appreciates my unique perspective – Nacee

Gospel singer, Nacee has stated that former president, John Dramani Mahama is a huge fan of his work and also values his creativity.

Nacee has composed over three popular campaign songs for the former president.

Despite the controversies surrounding Nacee’s campaign songs which many have termed as an endorsement, he details how it all began with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) under President John Agyekum Kufuor.

“I started with campaign songs way back in 2000, President Kufuor’s time and I don’t even recall the song…in 2008. I toured Ghana with Nana Addo. We were running under the slogan ‘Believe In Ghana’ with a host of musicians. It was Nana Addo who took me to Tamale for the first time,” the singer disclosed in an interview with Kofi TV in April 2023.

His friendship with Mr. Mahama has birthed some of the most popular elections songs that have stuck on the minds of citizens.

“It was in 2012 when I became friends with President Mahama and it seems I was with both parties (NPP and NDC). In 2012, it was ‘John Mahama Dey Be’ and in 2016, we made ‘Onaapo’. In 2020 we did ‘Mahama Okada’, I love cartoons and that inspired the song.

It was a song I wanted kids to equally love…the words I said, in the beginning, don’t have any meaning…one thing about Mahama is that he loves my creativity level. Mahama is a nice person who makes things flow.

I will be so stupid to trade my friendship with Mahama for money or cars. They teach you how to fish,” the versatile musician shared.

  • I’m not against secular musicians – Moses OK

I’m not against secular musicians – Moses OK

Ghanaian Gospel singer, born Moses Osei Kwarteng, popularly known as Moses OK has expatiated further on his earlier comments that “A true Christian should stop listening to secular music.”

The singer recently caused a stir on social media when he said every Christian should stick to Gospel music and not listen to any other song that will contaminate their spirituality.

Moses OK speaking in an interview on Onua TV pointed out that Christians have no business in listening to secular songs because it does not edify them.

“You can’t listen to songs that do not carry the word of God, songs that don’t correspond with the scriptures. That’s why I don’t encourage people to listen to secular songs,” he said.

In another interview with Halifax Ansah-Addo on Okay FM on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, the Gospel singer who’s now a pastor defended his statement again.

According to him, he did not mean to discriminate against secular musicians but was trying to explain that a Christian has no business listening to secular music for inspiration.

To this, he said the word of God or the gospel songs should be the believers’ inspiration for life.

In addition, he said he met one secular musician at a restaurant and he quickly rushed to hug him.

Using scriptures to back his point, the pastor and leader of Truth Chapel Church located in Kumasi, Abrepo Junction, admonished Christians to guide their hearts against listening to secular music because it could have a very great negative impact on their lives.

“Bible says, we should guard our hearts with all diligence, out of it flows the issues of life. Any information I consume, I know it will frame and shape me to become someone I want to be. Paul said, I died and resurrected with Christ and I live for Him. So as for me, I live for Christ. Some information can be deceptive.”

He added, “They appear to be good but go contrary to the word of God. As a Christian, I do not encourage words that contradict the principles of Christ; we should not listen to them. I am not criticizing circular musicians; I am not against them.

“I vividly remember embracing a circular musician during the valentine celebration. I am emphasizing that as believers and followers of Christ filled with the Holy Spirit, we should hold on and ingrain the lifestyle of Christ by depending on his information to live our life.”

  • Celestine Donkor is a hypocrite; she doesn’t love Empress Gifty – Sally Mann

Entertainment pundit, Sally Mann, has tagged gospel singer, Celestine Donkor, as a hypocrite for failing to sympathize with her colleague, Empress Gifty, during her darkest moment.

Empress Gifty on October 15, 2022, laid to rest her deceased grandmother and sister at Kokwado Park New Takoradi with the support of family, friends, and some colleagues in the music industry.

The funeral was graced by Nana Ama McBrown, Agya Koo, Stella Aba Seal and several others.

According to the account of entertainment pundit, Sally Mann, it was hypocritical for gospel singer, Celestine Donkor, to post photos from the funeral on her social media pages when she failed to send her condolences to Empress or attend the star-dubbed funeral.

Speaking on Power FM, Sally called out the ‘Agbebolo’ singer during her submission.

“Celestine Donkor is a hypocrite…let me explain her hypocritic act and if it isn’t hypocrisy I will withdraw it. Did you realize that Celestin Donkor posted photos of Empress Gifty’s grandmother and sister’s funeral on her Facebook page?” she quizzed.

The outspoken pundit claimed that Empress Gifty admitted to her during a phone call conversation that Celestine failed to send a message of condolence to her.

“Celestine, when you organized your program in New York, Empress Adorye booked a flight to support you. She came to support her sister. She bought a plane ticket from Ghana to New York. Celestine didn’t attend the funeral, but when she saw the likes of Nana Ama McBrown gracing it, she shared it, following the trends. What was her motive? You didn’t even show up.

“I asked Empress whether this lady had even called her and she said she never received a condolence message from her. She never sent a text message. So why did she post the funeral? It is a personal question I am asking her…her attitude towards Empress is bad…she was invited to the funeral,” Sally alleged.
