Movement 4 Change concludes 7-day caravan tour in Volta Region

The much-anticipated seven-day caravan tour of the Volta Region by the Movement for Change has come to a successful end.

The tour, which sought to engage communities and share Kyerematen’s vision for a better Ghana, concluded with a passionate address from team lead Hopeson Adorye.

Mr Adorye stressed the urgency for the people of Volta to reconsider their political choices, urging them to opt for transformative leadership.

During the tour, events were held in several towns, including Ho, Aflao, Anloga, Dzodze, Keta, Anlo Afiadenyigba, Hohoe, Peki, and Kpando. Adorye and his team connected with thousands of residents, emphasizing the failures of the two dominant political parties.

“They have failed to deliver the change that Ghanaians so desperately need,” Adorye declared. “It is time to choose a leader who has the experience, integrity, and vision to steer our country towards prosperity.”

Adorye highlighted Alan Kyerematen’s extensive political career and dedication to public service, describing him as “an experienced politician with a heart of gold.” He encouraged Ghanaians to move beyond partisan loyalty and recognize Kyerematen’s potential to lead real change.

“Alan is the leader we need to rebuild our economy, empower our women, and ensure that every Ghanaian has access to opportunities,” he added.

Throughout the tour, Kyerematen’s team shared testimonials of his accomplishments and presented a comprehensive development plan focused on education, healthcare, and infrastructure improvements. These messages resonated with many residents, who voiced their frustration with the current political landscape.

As the caravan moved from one community to another, excitement grew. Supporters carried placards with slogans such as “Vote for Change” and “A Better Ghana with Alan,” reflecting the hope Kyerematen’s vision inspired. His message of unity and progress struck a chord with many, fueling anticipation for a new direction in leadership.

Adorye also addressed the youth, saying, “Your future is in your hands. Don’t allow the mistakes of the past to dictate your future. Vote for Alan Kyerematen and let’s build the Ghana we deserve.”

As the tour wrapped up, Adorye called for a massive voter turnout in the upcoming elections, saying, “We need every one of you to go out and vote. Together, we can bring about the change we need. Alan Kyerematen is the beacon of hope for Ghana.”

The Movement for Change caravan tour not only bolstered support for Kyerematen but also ignited a renewed discussion about the future of Ghanaian politics. With elections approaching, the momentum from the tour could play a significant role in shaping the political landscape and encouraging voters to pursue a new path forward.

  • Okyenhene’s Ofori Atta sues Media General, Hopeson Adorye for defamation; demands GHC10M in damages

Okyenhene’s Ofori Atta sues Media General, Hopeson Adorye for defamation; demands GHC10M in damages

The Akyem Abuakwa State Secretary, Mr Daniel Marfo Ofori Atta, has dragged Media General Ghana Limited and member of the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye to court for allegedly defaming him.

In a writ of summons sighted by The Independent Ghana, the plaintiff, Mr Ofori Atta, noted that some words used by the 1st Defendant (Hopeson Adorye) on the 2nd Defendant’s (Media General) platform on July 26, 2024, on Onua Maakye show were unjustifiably used without any sort of proof.

On the said show, Mr Ofori Atta says Mr Adoye was “given the unfettered and unrestrained opportunity and indeed was encouraged to run an unjustified commentary on a document titled “Agyapade3” in relation to the himself, the entire membership of Ofori Panin Fie and Okyeman.”

Mr Adorye, per the writ of summons, is quoted to have said,” Look, have you seen this document? It is called Agyapadeɛ. Do you see it? Please capture it well so that everyone can have a look at it. I am not saying anything just from my head. It is alleged that a particular family wrote this Document (Agyapadeɛ). How they can amass the wealth and property of Ghana for themselves, their sons and generations to come.

“So, whoever wrote the forward or signed the forward has signed Ofori Atta here. Now with the forward, take a look at the first paragraph. It says, “to our future, made up of the present, and the unborn, generations are those whom we are creating this nation’s wealth for. Do you hear that? You have given power to someone to serve you, however, someone has decided to use that power to accumulate the entire wealth of Ghana for his future generations and we are quiet.”

“We have abandoned it; we have abandoned it. Look, if you go to the banking sector, how Databank is being utilized to do everything, including all the loans we are taking, is all about one family. For us we are “galaway” people. When you speak about it, someone within the NPP will stand up against you to defend this rot. Meanwhile you will be suffering out there. They say, “to our future, present and unborn”.

“If you read everything in the document, it tells you that this tribe is going to be the movers and shakers of Ghana. That means should anything happen, whatever they say is what everyone must follow.”

“I know… the name of the writer. His name has been mentioned here. He is my very good friend. He is my very good friend. I will mention his name to you as we are moving on. I will tell you his name. His name has been mentioned alongside his co- writers and others. They are in charge of certain things. The technical team led by D. M Ofori Atta should further evaluate the following details in order to choose the appropriate sites, galamsey. According to this, they have three hundred and thirty-two (332) galamsey companies.”

“They are all here, look, Northern Gold Coast Enterprise, so, so and so, Wassa Amenfi East, Tarkwa Nsuem Municipal. Every district they are there. Prestea, Nzema East… they have divided themselves all over. So, who told you that galamsey can be eradicated? Who told you that? It can be eradicated only if there is a change of government.”

“However, they were kicked out of parliament. If that wasn’t the case, a particular family would have been in charge of all royalties and other benefits from our mineral resources. How can we live in a country like this? They have mapped out areas that cover the entire gold deposit in Ghana. They have taken over all these mapped areas.”

Mr Adorye is said to have mentioned Mr Ofori Atta’s name as the co-writer of the Agyapadie document.

“I mentioned it. D. M. Ofori Atta. It stated that he is a co-writer. He is a friend of mine and I know him. And if you glance at the page that talks about the hijacking of GBC (laughs), it will never work. Now the judiciary governance in Ghana (laughs). It has been stated in here in the document. Let’s pack the court so that in the next twenty years they can be in control. Are you surprised more people are being nominated to the supreme court?” a part of the writ read.

Mr Ofori Atta is therefore praying the court to recover the sum of GH¢10,000,000 as general damages including aggravated and/or exemplary damages for defamation.

He also wants the defendants to offer an apology and retraction of the words complained of.

Again, he has asked the court for a perpetual injunction restraining the Defendants whether by themselves, their servants, agents or assigns from repeating similar or other defamatory words against him.

The controversial 38-page document titled ‘Agyapadie,’ which prominently features the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, alongside President Nana Akufo-Addo and his late father, has resurfaced, reigniting discussions about its contents.

The document, whose author remains unidentified, is believed to outline strategies for a particular family or clan to establish significant influence and control over key sectors of Ghanaian society, including the economy, politics, media, judiciary, telecommunications, and banking.

On August 1, 2024, President Akufo-Addo addressed growing speculation about the document, which is purported to be a strategic plan of the Akyem faction within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The president and the government New Patriotic Party (NPP) have dismissed the document as a fabrication, attributing its circulation to political adversaries aiming to discredit the party and its affiliates.

The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has also denounced the document as a baseless creation by those intent on sowing discord and inciting animosity towards the Ofori Panin family and the Okyeman community.

Akufo-Addo’s reliance on family, friends has brought Ghana this far – Hopeson Adorye

Director of Special Duties for the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, has blamed Ghana’s economic struggles on President Akufo-Addo’s reliance on “family and friends.”

In a July 17, 2024, interview on Oyerepa TV, Adorye expressed his dissatisfaction with the nation’s current state, arguing that the president’s close relatives, who occupy key government positions, are responsible for the country’s challenges.

Despite President Akufo-Addo’s initial promises and determination to transform Ghana, Adorye contended that the president allowed himself to be misled by his family members, resulting in poor governance and decision-making.

“You can see that everybody is expressing disappointment with the government, so let us be concerned about the person who will change the narrative,” Mr Adorye said.

As a former member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adorye admitted he was once part of the administration but emphasized that his trust in Akufo-Addo’s leadership was misplaced due to the undue influence of certain family members.

Adorye highlighted Ken Ofori-Atta, a former finance minister; Asante Bediatuo, the secretary to the president; and Gabby Otchere-Darko, the president’s cousin, as key figures contributing to the country’s difficulties.

He accused these individuals of blocking progress and prioritizing their own interests.

“Someone will accuse me of being part, and of course, yes, I was. But Akufo-Addo, I trusted, had the will and the zeal to change this country, but he allowed his family members to mislead him.

“If you have Ken Ofori-Atta and Akufo-Addo tell you to pay Paa Kwesi Nduom and he says he won’t pay, how can you progress?

“His family members around him have disappointed him. I am telling you; I swear to God that Akufo-Addo was determined to change this country, but his family members disappointed him. That is why they say the effects of family and friends’ governments are bad. Asante Bediatuo, Gabby Otchere-Darko, and all,” he added.”

Hopeson Adorye hot over GHC1m defamation suit

Convener of Citizen Eye Ghana, a non-governmental organization, Alex Kwaku Tetteh, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Hopeson Kofivi Adorye, the Operations Director of Movement for Change, a political organization.

Tetteh is seeking GH₵1 million in damages, as well as a retraction and apology from Adorye over statements made during a media appearance.

According to the lawsuit, Tetteh claims that Adorye made defamatory comments about him during a call-in segment on the morning show “Ade Akye Abia” on Okay FM, an Accra-based radio station, on May 7, 2024.

During the broadcast, Adorye allegedly said, “…When he (referring to the plaintiff) drinks Akpeteshie (a local gin) and smokes ‘wee’ in addition, he speaks total rubbish as if he speaks from his anus…”

Tetteh asserts that these comments were intended to portray him as a drug addict, criminal, unintelligent, and alcoholic. He argues that the statements have caused serious harm to his reputation, bringing him into public scandal, disrepute, odium, and contempt.

In addition to the financial damages, Tetteh is demanding a retraction and public apology from Adorye. He insists that the retraction and apology must be given prominent airtime on Okay FM and be published on the radio station’s website and social media platforms.

Furthermore, he requires that the retraction and apology be published on the front or back page of the Daily Graphic newspaper for three consecutive days.

Tetteh highlights that the defamatory statements were not only broadcast live but also streamed on various social media channels associated with Okay FM, giving the issue extensive publicity.

He fears that unless the court intervenes, Adorye may continue to make similar defamatory statements about him.

As a result, Tetteh is seeking exemplary damages and a perpetual injunction to prevent Adorye or his agents from further publishing or distributing the defamatory comments.

Hopeson Adorye reveals how NPP stopped Ibrahim Mahama from mining Bauxite in Atiwa

Leading member of the Movement for Change Party, Hopeson Adorye has expressed regret over supporting the NPP’s decision to block Ibrahim Mahama from mining bauxite in Atiwa, Eastern Region, years ago.

He revealed that the NPP’s opposition at the time was primarily driven by their political stance and dissatisfaction with an opponent’s close relative managing such a significant project.

As a result, a foreign entity was allowed to mine the bauxite instead, which has ultimately impacted the economy negatively by depreciating the cedi.

“I won’t exempt myself. I was involved. We criticized the initiative and refused to let him secure the contract. We questioned why it should be the president’s son. And now, look where it has brought us. Today, this is partly why our cedi has depreciated,” Hopeson Adorye revealed.

Elections 2024 : NPP’s shady scheme with EC doomed to fail- Hopeson Adorye

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Hopeson Adorye has alleged that the Jean Mensah-led Electoral Commission (EC) is colluding with the NPP to manipulate the 2024 elections.

Adorye voiced these concerns during an interview on Kessben radio.

He expressed a lack of trust in the NPP, claiming that their attempts to influence the election’s outcome would be unsuccessful.

Adorye specifically accused the EC of sharing confidential voter data with the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.

“I have evidence that the NPP is in cahoots with the EC to sway the elections their way,” Adorye asserted.

However, he reassured that these efforts would not succeed, stating, “I want to assure them that all their efforts will fail, and they will lose the elections decisively.”

You can’t intimidate me, I have a share in your power – Hopeson Adorye tells govt

A former Deputy National Security Coordinator, Hopeson Adorye, has criticized the presidency, accusing individuals in Jubilee House of using intimidation tactics against him.

He voiced his frustration over what he perceives as unfair treatment by the administration he helped bring to power.

Mr Adorye highlighted his contributions to the current administration’s success and asserted his right to a share of the power held by Jubilee House.

“For me to do party work and employ a strategy for you to win power. I am saying it here today, all those in the Jubilee House, nobody can use the power to intimidate me. I have a percentage in the power,” Adorye proclaimed on a panel discussion on Onua TV on May 29, 2024.

He added “You have cut me off from benefiting from the monetary aspect, no problem. But for the power to defend yourself in town, there is no way for someone to intimidate me.”

Mr Adorye, who was expelled from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) months ago, admitted during a radio interview that during the 2016 elections, he and others used dynamites in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) strongholds to intimidate voters.

This revelation has led to his arrest and pending trial.

He was released on 20,000 Ghana cedis bail by a Circuit Court on May 23 over charges of publication of false news.

This followed his overnight detention at the Ministries Police Station after being invited to the CID headquarters of the Ghana Police Service earlier in the week.

Dynamite wasn’t used, I used fire crackers – Hopeson Adorye on 2016 election manipulation

Hopeson Adorye, a former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who defected to the Movement for Change, has retracted his previous claim of using dynamite to scare voters in the Volta Region during the 2016 election, now stating that he used firecrackers instead.

Presenting the case, Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder informed the court that on May 2, 2024, the Police Administration’s attention was drawn to a viral video on social media.

In the video, the accused was seen and heard stating that before the 2016 general elections, he took it upon himself to prevent Togolese from coming to vote in Ghana. This statement was made on the Accra-based radio station, Accra FM.

In his investigative caution statement, Mr. Adorye admitted to the video’s content but clarified that it was firecrackers, not dynamite, that were used.

Mr. Adorye has been charged with the publication of false news, contrary to section 208(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29). On Thursday, he was granted bail of GH¢20,000.00 by a Dansoman Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Alima El Lawah Basit, after pleading not guilty to the charge.

He has been ordered to execute the bail bond with two sureties, one of which should be justified, and to report to the police station once a week.

Mr. Adorye was arrested 20 days after making the statement. The court hearing attracted members of the Movement for Change, including Patricia Christabel Kyerematen, wife of the founder, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.

Even Joseph got betrayed by his brothers – Empress Gifty consoles Hopeson Adorye

Ghanaian gospel singer Empress Gifty, also known as Gifty Adorye, recently uplifted her husband, Hopeson Adorye, after his release from police custody.

She advised him not to let the arrest affect him mentally, suggesting it could have a positive impact on his life.

Comparing his experience to the story of Joseph in the Bible, she highlighted how challenges can turn into blessings orchestrated by God.

During an Instagram live session, she spoke in Twi about the potential for personal growth even in difficult times.

“God can use a moment of embarrassment to glorify Himself in your life. At times, individuals conspire to sully your reputation and inflict pain, but for me, such challenges fortify you, inspire ideas, and even lead to glorification.

“Joseph was not native to Egypt, but because God had predestined him for greatness, see how God arranged for his own brothers to sell him. They even slaughtered an animal and stained his garment with its blood to deceive their father into believing he had been killed. Little did they know, it was the start of something significant that God intended to accomplish in his life,” she said in Twi during an Instagram live session.

Hopeson Adorye, expressing optimism, shared, “That’s correct. That’s why I stated that what transpired has raised me to glory.”

He was granted bail by a Circuit Court after being charged with spreading false news related to explosive devices during the 2016 elections.

Adorye clarified that the incident occurred in Togo, not in the Volta Region as initially reported.

I am more popular, my arrest has been a blessing – Hopeson Adorye

Director of Special Operations for the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, has described his recent arrest and subsequent court appearance as a blessing in disguise, stating that it has provided him with significant political mileage.

After being granted bail by the Dansoman Circuit Court on Thursday, May 23, for charges related to publishing false news, Adorye released a viral video expressing his perspective.

He mentioned that his fame had increased as a result of the arrest.

“I am doing fine.  In fact, I was so happy, What happened yesterday, [Thursday] it will take someone 25 to 30 years to get this glory. You are the one who thinks it was the other way around. It gave me a political mileage and it will take someone 30 years to get such a mileage.

“In fact, the whole world was discussing me,” he added.

Hopeson Adorye, a prominent figure in the Movement for Change, was granted bail at GH¢20,000 with two sureties by the Dansoman court.

His arrest stemmed from claims made on an Accra-based radio station, which subsequently went viral, alleging that dynamites were detonated in the Volta Region during the 2016 General Elections.

  • Think of your family’s welfare while seeking political mileage – Vim Lady tells Hopeson Adorye

Think of your family’s welfare while seeking political mileage – Vim Lady tells Hopeson Adorye

Ghanaian media personality Afia Pokua, also known as Vim Lady, has shared her thoughts on Hopeson Adorye‘s recent comments following his release.

Adorye had earlier boasted about gaining political mileage from his arrest, calling it a unique opportunity during a Facebook live session with his wife Empress Gifty.

He described his arrest as a hidden blessing that brought him widespread attention worldwide.

However, Vim Lady disagreed with his perspective, pointing out potential negative repercussions for Adorye’s family, especially his wife Empress Gifty, a gospel musician, and for the country as a whole.

She urged Adorye to prioritize the safety of the nation and consider the emotional impact on his wife over any political gains he might perceive.

Despite some online support for Adorye’s bold statements during the live video, Empress Gifty appealed for restraint, asking him not to escalate the situation.

She emphasized the emotional toll such situations can take on families, particularly when one’s partner lacks strength and faith.

In response to Adorye’s intention to take action against his critics, Vim Lady echoed Empress Gifty’s plea, highlighting the importance of listening to one’s spouse’s advice.

She expressed her belief that the arrest, while unnecessary, had inadvertently boosted Adorye’s political standing, potentially leading to further issues.

Adorye’s arrest stemmed from allegations of using explosives in the Volta region to intimidate supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) before the 2016 elections, a tactic he claimed contributed to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) victory.

He faces charges of spreading false information and is currently out on bail.

Despite the arrest, Adorye remains defiant, attributing it to his departure from the NPP and alleging internal party elements are plotting against him.

Accra FM presenter invited by CID over Hopeson Adorye’s dynamite detonation interview

The Accra Regional Police Command has requested the management of Class Media Group’s Accra FM to release its host, Nana Otu Darko, for questioning.

This request is part of ongoing investigations into statements made by politician Hopeson Adorye during an interview on the station’s political talk program.

During the interview, Mr. Adorye alleged that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) had directed him to detonate dynamites in the Volta Region to intimidate supporters of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and deter them from voting in the previous elections.

As a result of these allegations, Mr. Adorye, a prominent member of the Movement for Change, was arrested and subsequently arraigned in court. He was charged by the police with the publication of false news.

On Thursday, May 23, the Dansoman District Court granted Mr. Adorye bail, set at GH¢20,000 with two sureties, one of which must be justified.

Following Mr. Adorye’s court appearance, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) issued a request to Class Media Group, asking them to release the host, Nana Otu Darko, to aid in their investigations. The request from the CID was delivered to the media organization on the same day, Thursday, May 23, highlighting the urgency and importance of the investigation.

According to the CID, the involvement of Nana Otu Darko, the host of the show, is crucial in uncovering the context and veracity of the statements made by Mr. Adorye, as the police continue their probe into the potentially inflammatory allegations.

“It would be appreciated if the host could be released to report at Accra Regional CID on Friday, 24 May 2024 at 10 am with a copy of the audio and video recording of the aforementioned programme to facilitate investigations”, the letter said.

A video has surfaced showing Hopeson Adorye, a prominent figure in the Movement for Change and a former leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), arguing with a police officer as he was being prepared for transport from the Ministries’ Police Station on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

In the video, the police officer was attempting to get Adorye into a vehicle while he was speaking with his lawyer, Ken Korankye. Mr Adorye became increasingly frustrated with the officer’s persistence and snapped at him.

“I’m talking to my lawyer, please. I’m talking to my lawyer. What is this? I’m talking to my lawyer, and you are interrupting me. Please, let me speak with my lawyer. What is the meaning of this? Are you the only police officer?” a visibly angry Adorye shouted.

Despite his anger, Hopeson eventually entered the vehicle with the police officer, who was in plain clothes, as he continued to express his frustration.

Adorye, who was detained for his remarks about detonating dynamite to intimidate non-Ghanaians from voting in the Volta Region during the 2016 election, has been granted bail of GH₵20,000 with two sureties.

A supporter of Alan Kyerematen‘s movement has expressed strong backing for Hopeson Adorye, a prominent party member, criticizing his recent charges.

The unnamed sympathizer condemned the situation as a violation of Ghana’s democratic values, which uphold freedom of speech.

She labeled Adorye’s detainment as an unfortunate and deliberate attempt to target Alan Kyerematen, following Adorye’s shift in allegiance from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to supporting Kyerematen.

“Hopeson has been detained by the Ghana Police Service not for his statement but because he supports Alan,” she asserted.

She further asserted that Hopeson made several allegations but expressed shock the politician was only singled out for his comments.

“Why summon Hopeson and live others he accused in the video. This is unfair, bias. NPP have intentionally did this,” she said.

Hopeson Adorye was picked up after he spoke on Accra FM on May 10, where he confessed to being part of a plot that detonated dynamite in the Volta Region to scare voters in the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to favour the NPP.

“Prior to the elections, we blasted dynamite in parts of the Volta Region, and that scared a number of people. A member of the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, has been granted bail following his arrest for admitting to detonating dynamite in the Volta Region during the 2016 elections to favor the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Dansoman District Court set Mr. Adorye’s bail at GH¢20,000 with two sureties, one of which must be justified.

Mr. Adorye was charged by the police with the publication of false news. Nana Ohene Ntow, a key member of the Movement for Change, provided this update in an interview with the media.

According to him, Mr. Adorye has been taken to the Ministries Police Station to complete the necessary procedures for his release from custody.

“He was put before the Dansoman District Court this [Thursday] morning and was charged with publication of false news. He has been granted bail and has been taken to the Ministries Police Station with our lawyers to secure his release,” Mr Ntow said.

The case has been adjourned to June 26, 2024. Hopeson Adorye was apprehended following his appearance on Accra FM on May 10, where he confessed to being part of a plot that detonated dynamite in the Volta Region to scare voters in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) stronghold, thereby favoring the NPP.

Meanwhile, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, a former Member of Parliament for Adentan who has parted ways with the NPP and is now a member of the Movement for Change, has claimed that the arrest is politically motivated.

Following a visit by presidential aspirant and leader of the movement, Alan Kyerematen, Mr. Buaben Asamoa stated that the allegations against Hopeson Adorye are false and unjust.

“Hopeson Adorye is not about to run away from Ghana or his home because the police intend to charge him with the publication of false information. So to go to the extent of keeping him all day in the police station and bringing him over to the Ministries to detain him, you point fingers backwards at yourself that there is something political at play and it is not fair,” he said.

“We will sleep at your premises until Hopeson Adorye is released; this is undemocratic and must be condensed,” the lady is heard saying.

When I finished casting my ballot in Tema, I drove to the Volta Region, and when I asked for the number of people who had voted and the expected number of voters, it turned out people did not come out to vote.”

Hopeson Adorye’s arrest is politically motivated – Buaben Asamoa

Former Adentan Member of Parliament Yaw Buaben Asamoa has alleged that the detention of Hopeson Adorye on May 22 amounts to a political witch hunt by the administration.

Mr Adorye, who has made recent statements about setting off dynamite during the 2016 general elections in opposition areas, has faced calls for his arrest.

News of his arrest broke late on Wednesday night, with Buaben Asamoa confirming in an interview with Joy FM that Adorye was being held at the Ministries Police Station on accusations of disseminating fake information.

“Hopeson Adorye is not about to run away from Ghana or from his home because the police intend to charge him with the publication of false information.

“So, to go to the extent of keeping him all day in the police station and bringing him over to the Ministries to detain him, you point fingers backward at yourself that there is something political at play and it’s not fair,” he said.

“This is obviously politically motivated, there is no doubt about that,” he emphasized.

Followers of Hopeson Adorye and Yaw Buaben Asamoa’s party, the Movement for Change (M4C), gathered at the police station demanding Adorye’s release or the detention of all supporters present.

Adorye was reportedly detained by the police following his claim of detonating dynamites in the Volta Region during the 2016 General Elections. This allegation made during an Accra radio broadcast has since gone viral, leading to his arrest.

“Mr. Adorye will appear before the court but is now under serious investigation,” a trustworthy source informed Peacefmonline.

Hopeson Adorye disclosed details about an operation he led to prevent purported Togolese nationals from voting in the 2016 general elections.

In an interview with Onua TV on May 16, 2024, Adorye clarified that the operation involving the use of explosives occurred entirely within Togo’s borders, not Ghana’s.

He explained that he assembled a team and drove them to Togo to engage with traditional leaders of Ghanaian border areas.

The objective was to persuade them to communicate with their people to discourage them from crossing into Ghana to vote in the 2016 elections.

  • This is why Hopeson Adorye was arrested

Prominent member of the Movement for Change (M4C) and husband of gospel musician Empress Gifty, Hopeson Adorye was arrested by the police on May 22, 2024.

The arrest follows statements Adorye made during a May 10 interview on Accra FM, where he claimed involvement in a plot to scare voters in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) stronghold by detonating dynamite in parts of the Volta Region during the December 2016 elections.

This action, he asserted, was intended to ensure a victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Adorye recounted, “Prior to the elections, we blasted dynamite in parts of the Volta Region, and that scared a number of people. When I finished casting my ballot in Tema, I drove to the Volta Region, and when I asked for the number of people who had voted and the expected number of voters, it turned out people did not come out to vote.”

According to myjoyonline.com, Adorye is currently assisting the police with their investigation into these claims.

    M4C Supporters Protest Adorye’s Arrest

Following Hopeson Adorye’s arrest, supporters of the Movement for Change (M4C), aligned with Alan Kyerematen, gathered at the Ministries Police Station on May 22 to demand his release.

The supporters alleged that Adorye’s arrest was politically motivated.

One protester, captured on camera, questioned the legality of his detention and suggested political interference.

“Are we still in military rule or civilian rule? What is democracy about? We are here today; we are going to sleep with Hopeson Adorye here. If they are detaining Hopeson, then they have to detain every supporter of Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen,” she said. She further claimed the government was trying to silence Adorye to prevent further damaging revelations about the party’s tactics.

Buaben Asamoa accuses government of political witchhunt

Yaw Buaben Asamoa, former Member of Parliament for Adentan, has accused the government of conducting a political witchhunt with Adorye’s arrest.

In an interview on Joy FM, Asamoa confirmed Adorye’s detention at the Ministries Police Station on charges of publishing false information.

“Hopeson Adorye is not about to run away from Ghana or from his home because the police intend to charge him with the publication of false information. So, to go to the extent of keeping him all day in the police station and bringing him over to the Ministries to detain him, you point fingers backward at yourself that there is something political at play and it’s not fair,” he argued. Asamoa emphasized, “This is obviously politically motivated, there is no doubt about that.”

I have not been granted bail due to orders from higher authorities – Hopeson Adorye

A prominent member of the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, who has been detained by the Ghana Police Service has noted that that bail would not be granted to him due to ongoing investigations.

In a conversation with Asempa FM according to Ghanaweb, Hopeson noted that the police are set to present him in court due to orders from above.

“I’m currently at the ministry police station. I received an invitation to the police headquarters. There, they probed me about my dynamite comment, which I acknowledged… After documenting my statement, they indicated that they were probing a false publication based on orders from higher authorities, hence they can’t release me on bail until further directives are issued.”

Adorye was summoned to police headquarters and interrogated regarding his admission of using dynamite to intimidate voters during the 2016 elections.

Following his statement, Adorye was informed that he would be held overnight before a court appearance.

“They plan to detain me here for a day and expedite my court appearance the next day. I’m about to be placed in the police cell,” he told Omanhene Kwabena Asante.

The arrest stems from his May 10, 2024, confession on Accra FM, where he detailed the use of dynamite in the Volta Region to lower voter turnout and secure a victory for the NPP.

“Before the elections, we detonated dynamite in the Volta Region, which deterred many. After voting in Tema, I travelled to the Volta Region. Upon inquiring about the voter turnout and the anticipated numbers, it was evident that the turnout was low,” he stated.

  • I had a system that prevented Togolese who registered from voting in 2016 – Hopeson Adorye

I had a system that prevented Togolese who registered from voting in 2016 – Hopeson Adorye

A prominent figure in Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, has disclosed details of a covert operation he led to prevent alleged Togolese nationals from voting in Ghana’s 2016 general elections.

In an interview on Onua TV on May 16, 2024, Adorye explained that the operation, which involved the use of explosives, took place entirely within Togo’s borders, not Ghana’s.

He organized a team and traveled to Togo to engage with traditional authorities in border communities, urging them to dissuade their people from crossing into Ghana to vote.

He further elaborated that he made his team swear an oath of secrecy, ensuring regional executives were unaware of their plans.

Using a local contact with strong ties to traditional authorities, Mr Adorye’s team moved from one authority to another, providing them with substantial sums of CFA for advocacy and radio announcements to deter cross-border voting.

“There is this issue in the Volta Region during elections that Togolese came and registered to vote. In 2016, they came to register alright, but I took it upon myself to disable the system so that they would not come and vote.

“I chose a team and made them swear an oath that they were not going to inform the regional executives of what we were going to do,” he narrated in Twi.

He added, “We had a relation who grew up there (Togo) and he had a good relationship with the traditional authorities there. So, he moved us from one authority to the other so we could engage them. When we met them, we gave them a lot of money (CFA) for them to use for advocacy, radio announcements and the like.”

A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary hopeful, also revealed a more drastic part of his strategy: creating fear among Togolese nationals to prevent them from voting.

“I told them that things were going to happen so they should not come… Because of what we told them, we put things in order. Everything that happened took place in Togo. Those saying it happened in the Volta Region, if you throw this (dynamite) at a polling station, won’t people die? Who in the Volta Region can say that there was an explosion in his or her area?

“And I gated the people. After it (the explosion), I made them take off on the motorbikes. There was a commotion, and the people started saying that what we told them had started happening. It was a strategy. Everything happened in Togo,” he reiterated.

He asserted that Ghanaian security officials, including the Inspector General of Police, could not summon him for actions that took place outside Ghana’s jurisdiction. Additionally, he criticized the NPP for not recognizing or rewarding him and his team for their efforts.

This revelation comes amidst calls from veteran journalist Kwami Sefa Kayi for security agencies to arrest and investigate Adorye for his claims that the ruling NPP used dynamites to intimidate voters in the Volta Region during the 2016 elections.

NDC will take lead in December 7 polls – Hopeson Adorye predicts

A prominent figure in the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, has made a bold prediction regarding the outcome of the 2024 elections, foreseeing a victory for John Dramani Mahama.

According to Adorye, Alan Kyerematen is likely to secure the second position, with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following closely behind.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Okay FM, Adorye elaborated that while Mahama may lead in the initial election, his triumph won’t secure a clear majority.

Instead, a run-off between Kyerematen and Mahama is anticipated, with Kyerematen emerging victorious and assuming the presidency.

“On December 7 NDC will take the lead. Alan will be second before the NPP gets the third position. John Mahama will not be able to make the 50 plus one mark so there will be a run-off.

“When the run-off takes place, Alan will be President. Before the Ejisu Elections, Info Analytics brought the latest poll which put Alan at 7.5%. That should tell you that 2024 will not be a one-touch victory for the winner if we go by that,” he said.

He further cited recent polling data from Info Analytics, indicating Kyerematen‘s popularity at 7.5%, as evidence that the 2024 election won’t result in a decisive victory for any candidate.

Adorye emphasized that the Movement for Change has garnered significant support, with two million individuals expressing interest in joining the movement. He believes that voters in 2024 will prioritize their standard of living when casting their ballots.

“On December 7, the NDC will take the lead. Alan will be second before the NPP gets the third position. John Mahama will not be able to make the 50 plus one mark, so there will be a run-off. He should be arrested! – Kwame Sefa Kayi weighs in on Adorye dynamite claims

Ace journalist and host of Kokrokoo on Peace FM Kwame Sefa Kayi, has made a bold call for the arrest and investigation of Hopeson Adorye, a former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Adorye’s startling assertion that the ruling party resorted to using dynamite to intimidate voters in the Volta Region during the 2016 general elections has sparked controversy.

In a panel discussion on his show on Friday, May 10, 2024, Sefa Kayi challenged Adorye’s claims and advocated for his immediate arrest.

“Tweaaa, Kwesi, have you seen dynamite being blasted before? When the Tetteh Quarshie interchange was being constructed, they used dynamite… and when the dynamite was to be set off, they announced it about a week ahead, giving a specific time and date. Those of us living within about a two-kilometer perimeter from the blast could feel the impact,” he remarked.

He continued, questioning the feasibility of Adorye‘s claims, “You can’t joke with even the smallest of dynamites, and he’s claiming to have set off dynamite. He should be arrested or called to show where he set off the dynamite; where did you get it? Did you buy it? Was it given to you?”

The call for Adorye’s arrest came after Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, urged security agencies to investigate the recent allegations made by Adorye.

Adorye, who now holds the position of director of special duties for Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change, made the explosive remarks during an interview on Accra FM. He claimed that the use of dynamite in the Volta Region was a deliberate tactic to scare voters.

“Prior to the elections, we blasted dynamite in parts of the Volta Region, and that scared a number of people. When I finished casting my ballot in Tema, I drove to the Volta Region, and when I asked for the number of people who had voted and the expected number of voters, it turned out people did not come out to vote,” Adorye disclosed.

The incident has raised serious questions and prompted calls for a thorough investigation into the matter, with the public and authorities alike awaiting further developments.

Gabby wants me arrested because I am a threat to NPP – Hopeson Adorye

A former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hopeson Adorye, has made accusations against Gabby Otchere-Darko, a prominent figure within the party, suggesting that efforts are being made to have him arrested.

Speaking to Onua TV, Mr Adorye asserted that Gabby Otchere-Darko is pushing for his arrest due to what he perceives as a threat on the party.

Mr Adorye claimed that Otchere-Darko has reached out to the National Security Coordinator in an attempt to gather evidence against him.

However, Mr Adorye stated that the supposed reason for his arrest, as conveyed by the National Security Coordinator, is the unauthorized use of a siren on his vehicle.

He further alleged that Otchere-Darko explicitly instructed security officials to apprehend him as soon as he begins to move his car.

“An intel I have gathered about Gabby Otchere-Darko is that he called the National Security Coordinator to find something against me because I am disgracing the party. And the person said I am guilty of nothing but just the siren on top of my vehicle. Gabby asked them to use that against me. He instructed them to arrest me when I move my car,” he added.

Your machinations against NPP will not work – Staunch party member tells Hopeson Adorye

A staunch member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajjia Fati, has criticized a former member of the party, Hopeson Adorye, over his recent comments against the party.

Hopeson Adorye has made startling claims regarding the dubious tactics employed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since he left the party to join former Minister for Trade, Alan Kyerematen

He recently made mention of steps the ruling party took to retain the Ejisu seat during the bye-elections.

Speaking on Captain Smart’s Onua morning show on May 8, 2024, the former National Security boss asserted that the NPP recruited party executives from Kumawu to oversee the elections at various polling stations.

He alleged that these individuals were trained by the Electoral Commission (EC) to serve as presiding officers.

Mr. Adorye, who recently left the NPP to join Alan Kyeremanten’s Movement for Change (M4C), stated that he received this information around 5pm on the day of the elections, which took place on April 13, 2024.

To support his claims, he mentioned specific names and referred to page numbers in the Kumawu constituency album where the names of these alleged NPP-affiliated EC officials were recorded.

Reading from a personal compilation titled “Polling station executives of Kumawu enlisted as EC officials for Ejisu,” he named three NPP constituency executives of Kumawu who had been enlisted as presiding officers.

But according to the female MP member, the actions taken by Hopeson Adorye will amount to nothing. Hajjia Fati also noted that it comes as no surprise if Hopeson decides to return to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) since he is returning to his roots.

In an interview with NEAT FM’s afternoon show Mr Adorye expressed deep dismay over the circumstances surrounding his suspension, maintaining that the NPP has shown ingratitude towards him.

Despite harboring bitterness, Adorye refrains from speaking out, yet he laments being subjected to insults and baseless accusations by NPP communicators.

Mr Adorye disclosed his dismissal from his role at the Kotoka International Airport, alleging a conspiracy to oust him orchestrated by Nana Asante Bediatu’s wife.

He issues a cautionary note, warning the NPP to tread carefully, as his potential exposé of the party’s leadership could spell trouble for them.

“I have so much bitterness in me, but I decided not to talk, yet these people [NPP communicators] are going around insulting me and accusing me wrongly”.

“My job was given to Nana Asante Bediatu’s wife; they planned to remove me from the office”.

NPP dropped a dynamite in Volta Region to deter voters from voting – Adorye claims

Former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hopeson Adorye, who has since parted ways with the party, has made startling revelations about the 2016 elections.

In an interview on Accra FM, Adorye disclosed that the NPP resorted to using dynamite in the Volta Region to instill fear and deter voters, resulting in a significant decrease in voter turnout.

Adorye expressed disappointment at the tactics employed, noting that by 2 pm on election day, voter turnout in the Volta Region was notably low.

He attributed this decrease to the intimidation caused by the use of dynamite, which he claimed was strategically targeted to weaken the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the region.

Reflecting on his observations, Adorye stated, “Prior to the elections, we blasted dynamite in parts of the Volta Region, and that scared a number of people. When I finished casting my ballot in Tema, I drove to the Volta Region and realized that people did not come out to vote as expected.”

2016 polls: We detonated dynamites to scare NDC supporters in Volta region away – Hopeson Adorye

Former aggrieved member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), now member of Alan’s Movement For Change, Hopeson Adorye, has confessed to a mechanism the ruling government adopted in 2016 to win the 2016 elections.

Speaking during an appearance on Accra FM’s ‘The Citizen Show’ with Nana Otu Darko on May 6, 2024, the former National Security boss revealed how he singlehandedly recruited five men from the Volta Region with whom he worked to scare eligible voters who were situated right on the borders of Ghana and Togo.

These five young men worked with him under an oath of secrecy, unbeknownst to the regional executives of Volta.

In an attempt to deter Voltarians, widely perceived as staunch supporters of the NDC, the former National Security boss directed these men to detonate dynamites along the border. The aim was to intimidate them into fleeing to Togoland, thus preventing them from voting in the elections.

“There are people who have their houses on the border with their windows directed towards Togo; such people can come and vote during elections.

I took it upon myself. that we should go and control elections on the border. I picked 5 men and made them take an oath not to tell the regional executives about our plans.

I only informed Akufo-Addo the fourth time. It didn’t end there; three days before the elections, we went before the buy dynamites and exploded them,” he said.

Fearing potential danger or threats on election day, these voters flee to Togo in search of refuge.

“On the day of the election, when they took buses to pick up the voters, they met only chickens, not a single human being, because they had all run into the main cities of Togo.

Movement for Change’s Director of Special Duties, Hopeson Adorye, has declared that it would be hypocritical of him to pretend he isn’t resentful of the way the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has handled him.

On Friday, May 3, 2024, Adorye stated he was still hurt by being kicked out of the party even though he almost went to jail for the NPP in an interview with Okay FM.

“If I tell you on this station that I am not bitter, then I am a hypocrite. I would be the biggest hypocrite in the country… Was it not in your studio that I sat and nearly got jailed because of the NPP? Am I a fool?

“I am not a hypocrite to deny that I am bitter… My death would have been a foolish one if I had died. You have to understand why sometimes we complain,” he told Kwame Nkrumah Tikese.

The NPP declared that Adorye had resigned from the organisation after endorsing Alan Kyerematen’s independent bid for president.

He claimed that the party had mistreated him even prior to his expulsion from the NPP.

He claimed that he was fired from his position as Deputy National Security Coordinator, which included overseeing the Kotoka International Airport’s VIP lounge, because of his relationship with Alan Kyerematen.

Hopeson Adorye, a prominent figure within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and now serving as Director of Special Duties for Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change, has unveiled plans to launch an advocacy entity known as the Jail Them Advocacy Group.

The primary objective of this initiative is to compel the ruling party to hold accountable former NPP officials from the 2025 administration.

Mr Adorye firmly stated that certain ex-NPP officials were embroiled in severe corruption, labeling them as “deeply corrupt” and “government thieves” who exploited their positions for personal enrichment.

While acknowledging his own past appointment by the NPP, Mr Adorye stressed that not all party members were tainted by corruption like those he condemns.

During an interview on the Citizen Show hosted by Nana Otu Darko on Accra 100.5 FM on Thursday, May 2, 2024, Mr Adorye outlined his plans to compile a list of individuals he deems highly corrupt, substantiated by evidence, and present this dossier to the government for legal action.

He underscored the critical need to combat corruption within government to channel resources toward the populace’s development.

Adorye also hinted at a forthcoming apology to former President John Dramani Mahama, suggesting that compared to the present administration, Mahama seemed like “an angel.”

“I will one day tell Mahama “I am sorry” on live television” – Hopeson Adorye

On Accra FM, Hopeson Adorye, previously affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and now aligned with the Movement for Change, has announced his intention to publicly apologize to former President John Dramani Mahama.

Adorye intends to deliver this apology live on television, admitting that the campaign he participated in, which contributed to Mahama’s defeat in the 2016 elections, was largely founded on false accusations.

Considering the current situation under the NPP government, he remarked:

“As a human being, if you do something and you later realize the aim is not achieved, you need to speak up,” he stated.

In his statement, Adorye expressed remorse for his role in tarnishing Mahama’s reputation, saying, “I have said that one day, I will kneel down on television and say Mahama, I am sorry… The things we said about him; Mahama is a thief and all that, but Mahama was an angel as compared to today, we destroyed him for nothing.”

Asserting his integrity, Adorye emphasized that he has no association with illegal mining (galamsey) or any other dubious activities linked to certain members of the NPP.

Furthermore, he refuted any involvement in land-grabbing endeavors, specifically in East Legon, where he warned of potential legal consequences for individuals entangled in land disputes.

Adorye’s change of stance has prompted him to declare the formation of a new organization called the “Jail Them Advocacy Group.” This group seeks to advocate for the prosecution of corrupt officials within the current administration once there is a change in power.

I regret speaking ill about Mahama – Hopeson Adorye

In an interview on Accra FM, Hopeson Adorye, formerly associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but now aligned with the Movement for Change, unveiled his intention to publicly apologize to former President John Dramani Mahama.

Adorye disclosed his plan to make this apology on live television, acknowledging that the campaign he participated in, which contributed to Mahama’s defeat in the 2016 elections, was largely based on false accusations.

Reflecting on the current state of affairs under the NPP government, he remarked, “As a human being, if you do something and you later realize the aim is not achieved, you need to speak up,” he stated.

Expressing remorse for his role in tarnishing Mahama’s reputation, Adorye pledged, “I have said that one day, I will kneel down on television and say, ‘Mahama, I am sorry…’ The allegations we made against him; calling Mahama a thief and all that, yet Mahama was virtuous compared to the present, we maligned him for nothing.”

While asserting his integrity, Adorye distanced himself from illegal mining (galamsey) and other questionable activities linked to some NPP members.

He also denied involvement in land-grabbing activities, particularly in East Legon, where he cautioned about potential legal consequences for many embroiled in land disputes.

Mr Adorye’s change of heart has prompted him to announce the formation of a new group, the “Jail Them Advocacy Group,” with the aim of advocating for the prosecution of corrupt officials under the current administration once there is a change in power.

  • Arrest Kingsley, or we will all pay EC officials in Dec – Hopeson on alleged bribery at Ejisu primaries

Arrest Kingsley, or we will all pay EC officials in Dec – Hopeson on alleged bribery at Ejisu primaries

Member of Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change (M4C), Hopeson Adorye, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Kingsley Nyarko, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Kwadaso.

Adorye’s demand comes in the wake of allegations of bribery during the recently concluded Ejisu by-election, sparked by a viral video showing Nyarko handing a white envelope to Electoral Commission (EC) officials at a polling station in Fumesua.

Condemning the actions captured in the video, Adorye labeled them as criminal, emphasizing that such behavior undermines the integrity of the electoral process and cannot be tolerated.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News on April 30, 2024, Adorye argued that Nyarko’s actions violated electoral laws and therefore warranted legal action.

He further contended that since the EC was responsible for providing lunch for its staff, Nyarko’s actions constituted a crime, and he called for police intervention to arrest and prosecute Nyarko accordingly.

“I say they need to arrest him and prosecute him. He has broken the law; it is a crime. You don’t need to do that at the polling station but because he is an NPP MP, they are closing their eyes.

If they don’t arrest him, in December, we are all going to do the same thing at the polling station,” he stated.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has acknowledged the incident at the Fumesua Pentecost Church polling station, where the MP was seen placing an envelope on the table occupied by the presiding officer and the ballot issuer.

In a statement released on April 30, 2024, and signed by Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman of Operations, the EC announced the suspension of the two temporary staff pending an investigation into the matter.

Furthermore, the EC stated that it had referred the incident to the police for a criminal investigation.

Just 3 people left, not 6,000 – Hopeson Adorye on deflecting M4C members to NPP

Director of Special Duties for the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, has disputed assertions that six thousand members of the movement have switched allegiance to the ruling New Patriotic Party.

He stated that, to his knowledge, only three individuals have defected.

“Only three people have left. I am challenging them to provide data for the six thousand they are claiming. It is true they were reaching out to people to join them but they all turned them down.

I am telling you that I can provide some of them to come to your studio and speak. They called people to come, and they all turned them down.

Alfred Ababio Kumi, a former NPP parliamentary candidate for Adenta who had previously joined the Movement for Change, held a press conference on Monday, April 22, 2024, to announce that he is leading six thousand members back to the NPP.

Kumi stressed that his group acknowledged their error in leaving the NPP and expressed renewed support for the party and its flagbearer in the upcoming 2024 general election.

However, Hopeson Adorye disputed this claim, stating that there is no evidence to support the assertion that the Movement for Change, led by Alan Kyerematen, lost six thousand members.

“Six thousand from where? If you claim six thousand have defected, you must have data to prove it. They are very aware that Movement for Change engages in a voluntary recruitment process through our website, www.alankyerematen.com.

“We have so far recruited over a million people who joined the movement voluntarily,” he stated.

  • You can offer me $100m, I will not return – Hopeson Adorye to NPP

You can offer me $100m, I will not return – Hopeson Adorye to NPP

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Hopeson Adorye, reiterated that there is nothing that could prompt his return to the party.

In an interview with Ohemaawoyeje of Angel FM, the ex-Deputy National Security Coordinator underscored that despite not formally resigning from the NPP, he remains resolute in his decision, stating that no form of compensation could sway him back.

“I didn’t need any compensation; I was not the one that said I was leaving the party. Alan held a programme which I attended because I was invited and I said I am still a member of the NPP but a sympathiser of Alan Kyerematen. That was all…

“I am saying that even if they give me a hundred million dollars, I will not go back to the NPP,” he emphasised.

In November 2023, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) revoked the membership of Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow, and Boniface Abubakar Saddique. This action was taken because they publicly endorsed a presidential aspirant other than the party’s elected flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Subsequently, these four individuals have played significant roles in the campaign of John Alan Kyerematen, the leader of the Movement for Change.

Kyerematen departed from the party to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

  • “The green book was better lah” – Hopeson Adorye ‘rejects’ NPP’s Performance Tracker

“The green book was better lah” – Hopeson Adorye ‘rejects’ NPP’s Performance Tracker

Former deputy national security coordinator, Hopeson Adorye, has weighed in on the effectiveness of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) green book compared to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) performance tracker.

His comments follow the government’s acknowledgment of inaccuracies in the performance tracker.

Adorye’s remarks were prompted by a social media post revealing that the government had admitted to mistakenly including 67 entries on the list of projects featured on the performance tracker.

In response, Adorye expressed a preference for the NDC’s green book, which documented developmental projects undertaken during the NDC’s tenure. He argued that the green book offered a more reliable record compared to the NPP’s Performance Tracker.

“The green book was better lah,” Adorye remarked in a Facebook post on April 12, 2024.

The Ghanaian government has revealed that 67 entries were mistakenly included in its performance tracker within 48 hours of its launch. In a tweet, the government also expressed satisfaction with the level of interest shown by citizens in the tracker.

“Following the successful launch of the Performance Tracker, the government expresses gratitude for the remarkable interest and scrutiny from citizens.

“This level of engagement demonstrates the public’s commitment to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the information provided.

“Within 48 hours following the launch, our attention has been drawn to 67 entries which were erroneously included,” the tweet concluded.

The Performance Tracker platform has been created to provide Ghanaian citizens with convenient access to important information regarding the performance of the Government of Ghana since 2017. The platform collects government records from 30 ministries, presenting data on projects undertaken, outcomes, impacts, and beneficiaries of government interventions. This allows users to evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions.

The government aims to enhance transparency and accountability by showcasing its achievements through this platform, thereby building public trust in its capacity to fulfill its commitments.

  • “Dr Bawumia will not be your chewing stick! Keep his name out of your mouth!” – Salam Mustapha ‘warns’ Hopeson Adorye

“Dr Bawumia will not be your chewing stick! Keep his name out of your mouth!” – Salam Mustapha ‘warns’ Hopeson Adorye

The National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Salam Mustapha, has issued a stern warning to Hopeson Adorye, the Director of Special Duties for the Movement for Change, regarding his criticism of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In a recent Facebook post, Salam Mustapha condemned what he described as harsh attacks by Hopeson on Dr. Bawumia, who is the NPP’s flagbearer.

Referring to their past association during Hopeson Adorye’s tenure as an NPP member, Salam cautioned that he would not hesitate to set aside their relationship in response to Hopeson’s assaults on Dr. Bawmumia.

“Myself and you have known each other for a very long time, at least since 2011 there about. We have done so many operations together, some were very sensitive. We worked together in the famous Young Patriots team which took on the NDC in those vile days of vitriolic language on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo with the likes of the late John Kumah. In short, you know so well.

“Today, my message to you is simple. Take Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia out of your mouth. He will not be your chewing stick. No. He will not. I will put my brotherhood with you aside and we will do it the young patriots way if you attack our Flagbearer again,” excerpts of his post read.

The youth organiser also stated that while he holds respect for the Flagbearer of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, a former senior member of the NPP, he is prepared to reciprocate Hopeson Adorye’s actions.

“You have a presidential candidate, we have not attacked him. It is just out of respect for him but that can be thrown to the dogs. And he will feel taste of the medicine you’re giving to our Flagbearer. You know me, this is the nicest I can be,” he added.

Responding to this, Hopeson Adorye challenged Salam Mustapha, saying “Bring it on my brother.”

Hopeson Adorye recently criticised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his inability to stabilize the Ghana cedi against major trading currencies, despite promising to do so while in opposition.

In a Facebook post on March 25, 2024, he directly targeted Bawumia, remarking, “He was restoring the value of the cedi in 2014 in opposition but cannot restore the value in government.”

  • My NPP card is somewhere in my ‘toilet drains’ – Hopeson Adorye

My NPP card is somewhere in my ‘toilet drains’ – Hopeson Adorye

Former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hopeson Adorye, has disclosed that he disposed off his New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) membership card upon receiving the news of his expulsion from the party.

He sharply criticized the party’s national executives for the series of events leading to his dismissal.

“I paid money for my party card, I have long flushed it.”

Mr Adorye, along with three other prominent NPP activists aligned with former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyeremanten, faced expulsion from the party in November.

This decision was a consequence of their public endorsement and active campaign support for the independent presidential candidate, Alan Kyerematen.

The NPP, through a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, officially declared that Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow, and Boniface Abubakar Saddique were no longer affiliated with the party.

The expulsion was justified by their alleged flagrant breach of the party’s constitution, specifically Articles 3(5)(A)(4) and 3(9)(1).

According to Article 3(5)(A)(4) of the NPP Constitution, all party members are required to “abide by and publicly uphold the decisions of the Party.”

The constitution further stipulates that a party member who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected party member or supports another political party or independent candidate when the party has sponsored a candidate in an election automatically forfeits their membership.

    The party’s constitution reads:

“For the avoidance of doubt, Article 3(5) (A) (4) of the NPP Constitution enjoins all members of the party to ‘abide by publicly uphold the decision of the party’

“A Member of the Party, who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected member of the party, or who joins his or her support for another Political party, or for an independent candidate, when the party has sponsored a candidate in a general or by-election, automatically forfeits his or her membership of the party.”

Despite their expulsion, the four individuals have transitioned into active members of the Movement for Change, with Alan Kyeremanten as the founder, openly aligning themselves with him.

  • Why NPP sacked Hopeson Adorye on his birthday

On Monday, November 20, Mr Adorye celebrated his birthday but the day also saw his removal, together with three others from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) announced on Monday, November 20, 2023, that Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow, and Boniface Abubakar Saddique are no longer members of the party. This decision was made in response to their public endorsement and campaign for independent presidential candidate Alan Kyerematen.

In an official statement, the NPP cited the quartet’s “flagrant breach” of the party’s constitution, specifically referring to Articles 3(5) (A)(4) and 3(9)(1). The party emphasized the importance of members abiding by and publicly upholding party decisions, as outlined in Article 3(5) (A) (4).

According to Mr Hopeson Adorye, the date the party announced his removal was no coincidence but an orchestrated plan to frustrate him on a day that should have been blissful.

He also alleged that Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a prominent figure in the party, played a role in their removal.

Adorye claimed that Gabby, along with other individuals whose names he did not disclose, exerted pressure on the NPP leadership to issue a press statement announcing their expulsion from the party.

In an interview on Okay FM, Adorye stated that Gabby even sent him a text message inquiring about his support for former NPP flagbearer hopeful, Alan Kyerematen, which he believes led to their dismissal from the party.

“Gabby Otchere-Darko sent me a publication which indicated that he had said I would be voting skirt and blouse and asked me if that was my position. And I said yes, I support Alan because he (Alan) feeds me every month, he pays me every month, so I would support him any day.

“And he (Gabby) said ‘thank you, I just wanted to establish that position’… some few days after this the statement was issued.

“… the statement was supposed to be released on Thursday but they decided to release it on Monday as a birthday present for me. I was told there were calls from Gabby and other people, I don’t want to mention, on Sunday for the statement to be released on Monday. Have you ever seen the NPP General Secretary releasing a statement at 6:00 am before, when there are so many issues in the country,” he said in Twi.

  • No NPP member more loyal than me – Hopeson Adorye

No NPP member more loyal than me – Hopeson Adorye

Former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a former Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of airports, Hopeson Adorye, has claimed that he was the most loyal member of the party before before throwing his support behind Alan Kyerematen, the former Trade and Industry Minister, and leader of the Movement for Change.

Adorye made this statement during a media interview following his dismissal from the NPP. The party ousted him due to his public endorsement and active campaign for Kyerematen, who, like Adorye, is a former NPP member and is now running for president as an independent candidate.

Expressing his nonchalance towards the party’s decision, Adorye mentioned that he was already acquainted with the party’s constitution, which stipulates that supporting a breakaway candidate results in automatic forfeiture of party membership.

He said he was not bothered by his dismissal, as he was proud of his service to the party and confident that the party might need him again in the future.

“Who in the party can say that he is more loyal to NPP than me before I decided to support Alan Kyerematen? Who? When people are dissing the party who runs to the radio, television and defend the party? When the top hierarchy is being attacked, who goes to defend them? Please that one should not come in at all,” he said.

“When people are dissing the party, who runs to the radio, television, and defends the party? When the top hierarchy is being attacked, who goes to defend them?” Adorye questioned, underlining his consistent efforts to uphold and protect the party’s reputation in times of criticism.

Adorye, on his part, has declared his readiness to openly discuss his former party without any reservations.

The NPP announced the expulsion of Adorye in a statement on Monday, November 20, 2023, for violating the party’s constitution and code of conduct. The party accused him and three others of publicly endorsing the candidature of a person other than the duly elected Presidential Candidate of the Party; His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, which is a breach of the “Party’s Constitution particularly Articles 3(5) (A)(4) and 3(9)(1)”.

    Below is the Party’s statement.

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken notice of recent activities of Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow and Boniface Abubakar Saddique which includes publicly endorsing the candidature of a person other than the duly elected Presidential Candidate of the Party; His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.

In spite of their flagrant breach of the Party’s Constitution particularly Articles 3(5) (A)(4) and 3(9)(1), the afore-named men still hold themselves out as members of the NPP.

For the avoidance of doubt, Article 3(5) (A) (4) of the NPP Constitution enjoins all members of the Party to “abide by and publicly uphold the decisions of the Party”. In addition, Article 3(9) (1) of the Constitution provides as follows: “A Member of the Party, who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected member of the Party, or who joins or declares his or her support for another Political Party, or for an independent candidate, when the Party has sponsored a candidate in a general or by-election,
automatically forfeits his or her membership of the Party”.

In line with these constitutional provisions, it is the view of the NPP that Hopeson Adorye, Nana Ohene Ntow. Boniface Abubakar Saddique and Yaw Buaben Asamoa have AUTOMATICALLY FORFEITED their membership of the Party. They are, therefore, no
    longer members of the Party.

The NPP entreats its members to remain true to their duties as per Article 3(5) of the party Constitution. We further call upon our members to bear in mind that the Party’s focus is to unite its ranks and rally the support of Ghanaians to make history by winning the 2024 general elections.
