  • Luciano Spalletti is Juventus’ new coach

Luciano Spalletti is Juventus’ new coach

Juventus have announced Luciano Spalletti as their new head coach. The club management issued an official statement on their website and social media channels on October 30.

Spalletti takes over as head coach after Igor Tudor parted ways with the club four days ago, over their eight-game winless streak. The 66-year-old has a contract until the end of the current season as Juventus look to rescue things after a poor start to the campaign under Tudor.

It read, “Luciano Spalletti is the new head coach of Juventus, signing an agreement with the Club until June 30, 2026,” detailing the achievements of the coach since the beginning of his coaching career.

Other parts of the statement read, “ Born in Certaldo, in the province of Florence, in 1959, Spalletti began his coaching career 30 years ago after playing for Spezia and Empoli, among others. He began his coaching career at the Tuscan club, winning the Serie C Coppa Italia before leading the club to Serie A promotion, establishing himself as one of the most innovative coaches in Italy.

He enjoyed an impressive tenure with Udinese in the early 2000s, securing three consecutive years of European competition qualification before, in the 2004/05 season, guiding the Friuli club to their first-ever Champions League qualification berth, which then took him to Roma for the next four seasons, where he lifted two Coppa Italia trophies as well as the Supercoppa Italiana”.

Adding that “from 2009 to 2014, Spalletti managed Zenit St. Petersburg, winning two league titles, a domestic cup as well as the Russian Super Cup, before returning to Italy to take charge of Roma and then Inter. After winning the Serie A title at the end of the 2022/23 season with Napoli, the Tuscan coach then served as head coach of the Italian national team until June this year”.

Tudor spent the majority of his playing career at Juventus and was appointed in March earlier this year as manager. He won just 10 of his 24 games in charge in Turin. The side currently sits in seventh place in the table after nine Serie A matches, with 15 points.

However, they have not won a single UEFA Champions League match so far this season, and are 25th in the table with two points, just outside the play-off places, after losing to Real Madrid last week.

Earlier reports suggested that Spalletti asserted he wouldn’t manage another team in Italy. He has, however, chosen to return to domestic football in his home country after a difficult spell with the national side.

Juventus struggled last season after appointing Thiago Motta to replace Massimiliano Allegri, before he was replaced by Tudor.

Spalletti’s first match in charge of his new side will be against Serie A newcomers Cremonese, who have impressed this season.

The side, which signed Jamie Vardy on a free transfer after he departed Leicester City at the end of last term, are one point behind Juventus, in eighth place.

The club announced Tudor’s dismissal after they played Lazio on Sunday, October 26. This left them eighth on the Serie A table.

“The club thanks Igor Tudor and his entire staff for their professionalism and dedication over the past few months and wishes them all the best for their future careers,” Juventus announced in a social media post.

Juventus added that Massimiliano Brambilla will take charge of the side for their Serie A fixture against Udinese on Wednesday (17:30 GMT).

“Massimo Brambilla will take temporary charge of the first team”, they continued.

The Old Lady are six points behind leaders Napoli, and have failed to win in their last five league matches. Juventus are 25th in the Champions League group stage table, having lost once and drawn twice in their opening three matches.

This comes barely a week after This comes after the club parted ways with Ange Postecoglou, who lasted just 39 days when his contract was expected to expire in June next year.

Following the club’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League, the hierarchy bid him farewell just seventeen minutes after.

Taking his place, the club announced a former player, Dyche as the new boss in a formal statement shared on their website by their communications department. They mentioned him to be the one to take charge of their match against FC Porto on Thursday, with a contract that runs until 2027.

“Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm the appointment of Sean Dyche as the Club’s new Head Coach, following a thorough recruitment process led by Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, and Global Technical Director, George Syrianos. The former Forest youth player joins the Club on a contract running until the summer of 2027 and will take charge of his first match on Thursday night as The Reds take on FC Porto in the Europa League.

He will be working with former teammates Ian Woan and Steve Ston.

“ Dyche will be joined by his experienced coaching team of Ian Woan and Steve Stone, both former Nottingham Forest players who together made more than 400 appearances for the Reds during the 1990s”, the statement read.

Forest is confident of Sean Dyche’s tactical prowess and leadership skills to see the club to its next level, citing that “the appointment represents the best opportunity for a successful and competitive season across both domestic and European competitions”.

“A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement to guide the Club through its next chapter. Having managed more than 330 Premier League matches in his career to date, Dyche has built teams defined by defensive organisation, resilience, and strength from set pieces, qualities that align closely with the current squad’s attributes and the Club’s footballing identity,” the statement mentioned.

It continued, “As a former Forest youth player who lives locally, Dyche also has a deep understanding of the values and pride of Forest and its supporters. With his character, tactical acumen and man-management skills, his appointment represents the best opportunity for a successful and competitive season across both domestic and European competitions”.

Postecoglu did not win any of his eight games in charge – drawing two and losing six – after he was brought in to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked just three matches into the campaign.

Forest are 18th in the league table after one win in eight games during what has been a difficult start to the season.

“It’s a mess, isn’t it?” said BBC Sport football pundit Chris Sutton on the Monday Night Club before Dyche’s appointment was confirmed.“If Dyche gets over the line, it is an admission that they got it wrong with Ange Postecoglou and are thinking about survival.

“Dyche has always managed clubs where it has been a struggle. He bucked the trend at Burnley and got the best out of the players he had and proved himself to be a competent manager. At Everton, he took over a team in trouble and stabilised the club. He had points deductions to contend with. Forest wants to stay in the league, so it seems a sensible appointment. They won’t go down, they have too many good players.”

Dyche’s appointment marks the club’s third since the start of this season. So far, the club’s ‘sacking spree’ adds to a record of some of the shortest dismissal cases in football coaching history, signifying the club’s resolve to get to the top.

Juventus dismisses manager Tudor after just 7 months in charge

Juventus have parted ways with their coach, Igor Tudor, just seven months into their deal. Their deal, which was expected to expire in June 2028, was abruptly truncated on Monday, October 27, after their eight-game winless streak.

The club announced Tudor’s dismissal after they played Lazio on Sunday, October 26. This left them eighth on the Serie A table.

Ten Hag’s 2 months stint at Bayer was a similar case of short-term stay with a club, particularly in the history of the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen parted ways with Dutch coach Erik ten Hag after barely two months of his stint with the club.

Management of the club confirmed his dismissal on Monday, September 1, in a statement on its official website and social media handles.

The statement, which included comments from the CEO and the Managing Director for sports, mentioned the discomfort relating to their parting due to the short-term nature of the Dutchman’s has with them.

“Bayer 04 has parted ways with head coach Erik ten Hag with immediate effect. The assistant coaching staff will temporarily take over training duties”, parts of the statement read.

It continued with remarks from the CEO, Fernando Carro, who stated that,

“A separation at this early stage of the season is painful, but from our perspective, it was necessary. Our goal remains to achieve the set season objectives – for that, we need the best possible conditions at all levels and across the entire licensed division. Now the focus is on fully reinstating and utilising these conditions.”

Also, Bayer Leverkusen’s Managing Director for Sport, Simon Rolfes, highlighted that the team have had to make this decision for the general good of the team, citing the club’s performance over the last few weeks.

Chelsea loan Renato Veiga to Juventus; Danilo bids farewell to the club

Juventus has announced the signing of Portugal defender Renato Veiga on loan from Chelsea until the end of the current season.

The 21-year-old joins the Serie A club after a tough start at Chelsea, where he only made one Premier League appearance this season.

Veiga had joined Chelsea from FC Basel in July for €14 million on a seven-year contract. He made his debut for the Portuguese national team in October 2023 and has since played in two additional international matches.

At Juventus, Veiga hopes to get more playing time, especially with the club struggling with defensive injuries.

Bremer and Juan Cabal are sidelined with ACL injuries, and Danilo, who had been part of the squad, left the club on Monday after reaching a mutual agreement. Juventus is currently fifth in Serie A, just two points behind Lazio, but significantly behind leaders Napoli.

“Dear Bianconeri, I don’t know where to start. I knew this day would come sooner or later, but one is never ready to say goodbye. I’ve spent five and a half years here, and for me, it became my life,” Danilo said on social media.

“It’s never easy to separate from a true love, from a place that has given me so much, from a shirt that’s brought so many great feelings, from a club whose values align those that I’ve shared throughout my career.”

The former Porto and Real Madrid player joined Juventus from Manchester City in 2019.

  • Pogba-Juve open talks for contract termination after truncated doping ban

Pogba-Juve open talks for contract termination after truncated doping ban

Paul Pogba may soon become a free agent, with discussions reportedly underway to terminate his contract with Juventus, according to sources from ESPN.

After successfully appealing his doping suspension, which was reduced to 18 months, Pogba is set to resume training in January 2025 and return to competitive football by March.

Both Pogba and Juventus are reportedly considering the possibility of him continuing his career at a different club. Though Pogba is under contract with Juventus until June 2026, a mutual agreement might allow the 31-year-old to leave early and sign with another team.

Since his return to Juventus after leaving Manchester United in 2022, Pogba has only made 12 appearances for the Serie A side, and this potential contract termination could signal a fresh start for the midfielder.

His last competitive appearance was as a second-half substitute in a 2-0 win over Empoli more than a year ago.

Pogba was provisionally suspended in September 2023 before being handed a four-year ban in February. He gave evidence at an appeal in the summer and last week was cleared to begin playing again early next year.

In a statement, CAS outlined their reasoning behind the reduction in Pogba’s ban: “The CAS Panel based its decision on the evidence and legal arguments made that Mr Pogba’s ingestion of DHEA, the substance for which he tested positive, was not intentional and was the result of erroneously taking a supplement prescribed to him by a medical doctor in Florida, after Mr Pogba had been given assurances that the medical doctor, who had claimed to treat several high-level US and international athletes, was knowledgeable and would be mindful of Mr Pogba’s anti-doping obligations under the World Anti-Doping Code.

“Much of the evidence provided by Mr Pogba was unopposed. The CAS Panel determined, however, that Mr Pogba was not without fault and that, as a professional football player, he should have paid greater care in the circumstances.”

A statement issued by Pogba on Friday read: “Finally the nightmare is over. I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again.

“I always stated that I never knowingly breached World Anti-Doping Agency regulations when I took a nutritional supplement prescribed to me by a doctor, which does not affect or enhance the performance of male athletes.

“I play with integrity, and although I must accept that this is a strict liability offence, I want to place on record my thanks to the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s judges who heard my explanation.

“This has been a hugely distressing period in my life because everything I have worked so hard for has been put on hold.”

4 years to 18 months – Pogba’s doping ban truncated after appeal

Paul Pogba has expressed relief, stating his “nightmare is over” after his four-year doping ban was reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Sources close to the 31-year-old Juventus star informed BBC Sport that he will be able to resume training by January 2025, with eligibility to play from March onwards.

The French midfielder was initially banned in February by Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal (NADO) after testing positive for elevated testosterone levels, a hormone known for boosting endurance.

CAS Director General Matthieu Reeb confirmed to Reuters that the reduced ban took effect on September 11, 2023.

In a statement, Pogba said: “Finally the nightmare is over. I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again.

“I always stated that I never knowingly breached World Anti-Doping Agency regulations when I took a nutritional supplement prescribed to me by a doctor, which does not affect or enhance the performance of male athletes.

“I play with integrity and, although I must accept that this is a strict liability offence, I want to place on record my thanks to the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s judges who heard my explanation.

“This has been a hugely distressing period in my life because everything I have worked so hard for has been put on hold.”

Ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba personally appeared before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) earlier this summer to contest his doping ban. Pogba had consistently maintained that he would “never knowingly or deliberately” engage in doping and felt the initial ruling was “wrong.”

If the original four-year ban had been upheld, the 2018 World Cup winner would have been sidelined until 2027, at which point he would be 34 years old.

  • Juve may use a key player as a bargaining chip for Man Utd’s Mason Greenwood

Juve may use a key player as a bargaining chip for Man Utd’s Mason Greenwood

Juventus is reportedly considering offering a prominent player as part of a deal to secure Mason Greenwood from Manchester United this summer.

Greenwood showcased his talent during a loan spell at Getafe last season, scoring five goals and providing one assist, which earned him the club’s Player of the Season award for 2023-24.

Several clubs, including Juventus and Lazio, have shown interest in Greenwood, suggesting his tenure at Old Trafford may be nearing its end.

Chiesa, whose contract with Juventus runs until 2025, is seen as a valuable asset for potential transfer dealings, although his final decision is expected after Euro 2024.

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Chiesa’s future at Juventus, hinting that his continuation with the club remains a possibility despite ongoing speculation.

“Juventus and Federico Chiesa’s agent Ramadani have already decided to meet after the Euros in order to decide his future,” he said.

“No negotiations over new deal at this stage, Juve are still open to proposals but Chiesa’s decision will be after Euro2024. Full focus on the pitch.”

Following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Albania and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Spain, Chiesa and the Italian squad face a crucial task of regrouping before their upcoming match against Croatia.

Their aim is to secure passage to the knockout stages of the tournament in Germany.

Italy currently occupies the second position in Group B, holding a two-point advantage over Croatia, who are in third place.

Lazio is facing competition from Juventus in their pursuit of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, according to reports.

Discussions have commenced between Lazio and United regarding a potential deal for Greenwood, who spent the previous season on loan with Getafe.

United is seeking to reach an agreement on a transfer fee around £30 million ($38.1 million), although it is anticipated that this could involve several performance-related bonuses.

A year ago, Lazio came close to securing Greenwood on loan before Getafe intervened. According to a source, United prefers negotiating a permanent transfer this summer rather than another loan arrangement.

Apart from Lazio and Juventus, other Serie A clubs, including Napoli, have also expressed interest in the 22-year-old forward.

There has also been attention from clubs in Spain, Portugal, and Germany.

Sources revealed that Greenwood and his family are open to another move abroad as he continues to rebuild his career.

The striker has not featured for United since January 2022 following his arrest on suspicion of attempted rape and assault, with the case being dismissed in February 2023.

In February, new United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe hinted that Greenwood could potentially revive his career at Old Trafford.

However, sources informed ESPN that a return to United is currently considered the least likely scenario this summer.

Greenwood impressed during his loan spell at Getafe last season, scoring 10 goals. Despite Getafe’s interest in bringing him back to the club, they are unable to meet United’s financial demands.

Santos mull filing a complaint with FIFA against Juve transfer deal over Jorge

Santos is contemplating filing a complaint with FIFA against Juventus and Cruzeiro concerning the transfer of their former player, Kaio Jorge.

Juventus officially transferred the Brazilian striker to Cruzeiro on June 11, announcing a permanent deal, while on the same day, Cruzeiro issued a statement confirming Jorge’s signing on a five-year contract.

Santos claims that when they sold Jorge to Juventus in August 2021 for €3 million, the contract included a clause giving Santos a preference in any subsequent negotiations involving the player.

A statement from Santos said: “Santos Futebol Clube, through its Legal Department, officially notified Juventus, from Italy, and Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, from Belo Horizonte, about the negotiation involving striker Kaio Jorge … Santos FC awaits the parties’ response to present a possible claim to FIFA.

“At no time were Santos informed about the transaction information or consulted about their interest in reacquiring the player. Kaio Jorge was trained in the youth divisions of Santos FC.

Juventus launches a £40m transfer bid to ‘push’ Man Utd for Greenwood

Juventus have reportedly submitted a £40 million ($51m) bid to Manchester United, aiming to prompt a decision on Mason Greenwood.

The Bianconeri seek additional creativity and goal-scoring prowess, with Greenwood catching their eye following a successful loan stint at Getafe, where he scored 10 goals.

Napoli, another Italian heavyweight, is also interested, but Juventus have now made an official offer, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

Discussions between the Turin-based outfit and Premier League giants United are said to have been “underway for some time”.

Manchester United have not yet approved Greenwood’s sale, awaiting potential counter offers, which could prompt Juventus to explore other options from Old Trafford.

One such alternative is Jadon Sancho, who recently featured in Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League final appearance and is reportedly also on Juventus’ radar.

Several potential deals are currently under consideration at Allianz Stadium, including Juventus’ interest in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

Reports suggest they may propose a part-exchange deal involving USMNT’s Weston McKennie and England U21 international Samuel Iling-Junior to secure the Brazilian playmaker.

Juventus hire Thiago Motta as manager after Bologna success

On Wednesday, Italian giant Juventus announced the hiring of Thiago Motta as their new manager, replacing Massimiliano Allegri.

“Juventus is delighted to announce Thiago Motta as the new First Team head coach.

The Italian-Brazilian has signed an agreement with the club until June 30, 2027,” Juventus said in a statement.

Allegri was fired for his antics at the end of his team’s Coppa Italia final win over Atalanta, while Bologna confirmed before the end of the Serie A season that Motta would not extend his contract at the club.

“I am really happy to begin a new chapter at the helm of a great club like Juventus,” Motta said as part of Juventus’ announcement.

“I thank the owners and the management, who can be sure of my ambition to keep the Juventus flag flying high and to please the fans.”

At 41 years old, Motta successfully led Bologna to secure Champions League qualification in his second season with the northern Italian club, marking their first appearance in the prestigious tournament since 1964.

Before his tenure at Bologna, Motta steered Spezia to Serie A survival in the 2021–2022 season, although his initial managerial stint at Genoa lasted only two months in 2020.

The Brazil-born former Italy international had a distinguished playing career, notably with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Milan, where he achieved a historic treble under José Mourinho’s guidance in 2009–2010.

Recently, Motta’s Bologna faced Juventus in their second-to-last Serie A fixture, relinquishing a three-goal lead in the final 15 minutes as Paolo Montero temporarily took charge following Allegri’s departure.

Allegri’s contract was officially terminated earlier in June by mutual agreement.

  • Juventus eyeing move for Sancho

    Juventus eyeing move for Sancho

Juventus continues to pursue a deal for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

With Borussia Dortmund unlikely to meet United’s £40 million asking price, Juventus sees an opportunity to secure Sancho’s services.

The winger spent the latter half of last season on loan with Dortmund, following a well-publicised falling-out with United manager Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United is eager to offload the 24-year-old, and Juventus emerges as a serious contender.

However, Juventus is currently prioritising a deal for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz.

As part of the potential £60 million agreement, Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior could be included in the deal.

The report also suggests interest from other clubs in Italy and Germany for Sancho, who appears to have no future at Old Trafford after sources revealed to ESPN’s Rob Dawson that Ten Hag will remain in his position.

United is actively looking to sell multiple players to bolster their transfer budget for their own recruitment targets.

  • Juventus advance to Coppa Italia final thanks to Milik’s late goal

Juventus advance to Coppa Italia final thanks to Milik’s late goal

A late strike from Arkadiusz Milik, assisted by Timothy Weah, propelled Juventus into the Coppa Italia final, securing a 3-2 aggregate victory over Lazio despite a 2-1 defeat in the second leg of their semi-final clash on Tuesday.

Despite Juventus claiming a 2-0 victory in the first leg at home, Valentín Castellanos leveled the tie for Lazio with two goals by the 48th minute of the second leg.

However, Milik, coming on as a substitute, secured Juventus’s final berth with a close-range finish seven minutes from time.

This victory marks Juventus’s advancement to their 22nd Coppa Italia final, with the club boasting a record 14-time triumph in the competition, their latest in the 2020–21 season.

“Lazio had to turn the game around; it was normal to expect aggression,” Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri told a press conference. “After the 2-0 score at the start of the second half we improved and we got the result against an excellent Lazio. [But] we should have scored first.

“Today was an important match. Our elimination would have led to a dangerous psychological repercussion given that we are not yet mathematically [qualified for] the Champions League.”

Lazio wasted no time reigniting hopes of overturning the deficit from the first leg as Castellanos soared above the Juventus defence, nodding home a Luis Alberto corner to give the hosts the lead in the 12th minute.

Just before halftime, Castellanos had another chance to extend Lazio’s lead, but his low shot was thwarted by Juventus keeper Mattia Perin.

However, Castellanos capitalized on a pass from Alberto early in the second half, slotting the ball past Perin to level the tie.

Juventus responded with urgency, and Dusan Vlahovic came close to scoring twice before Milik’s decisive goal.

Milik found the back of the net from close range after being set up by Weah, who received a long cross from Filip Kostic.

The victory secures Juventus a spot in the final, where they will await the winner of the Atalanta vs. Fiorentina semifinal.

The final showdown is scheduled to take place at the Stadio Olimpico on May 15th.

“I’m in no hurry” – Adrien Rabiot on future at Juventus

Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has announced that he will postpone any decision regarding his future until the conclusion of the season.

Although Juventus is eager for Rabiot to extend his stay at the club beyond this summer, the French international, who will become a free agent in July, has not yet agreed to a new contract.

“I’m in no hurry to make a decision,” Rabiot said, as reported by Calciomercato. “I’m waiting to finish the season and then I’ll talk to the club.

“For the moment, I have not yet decided my future. Last year, I stayed at Juventus knowing that I wouldn’t play in Europe. Next season, we should be able to play in the Champions League and participate in the Club World Cup. These are all factors that will influence my choice.”

Rabiot, 28, says returning to Paris Saint-Germain is not on the cards.

“Since I came to Juve [in July 2019], every summer my name has been associated with PSG. On the one hand, it’s very flattering. On the other hand, it’s complicated when you think about how it ended. Of course, in football, you can’t close the doors, but this won’t be my priority.”

I’m not guilty – Pogba to launch appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport

Former Juventus and Manchester United star, Paul Pogba, has announced his intention to challenge the decision by the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping, which recently banned him from football in the wake of a doping scandal.

The positive test results were disclosed in September 2023, originating from a screening conducted during Juventus‘ clash against Udinese a month earlier.

Despite not actively participating in the Serie A fixture, Pogba was present on Juventus’ bench during the match.

In a strongly worded statement released by the player, he vehemently asserted his innocence, expressing shock and heartbreak over the decision and the potential damage it could inflict on his illustrious career.

“I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect. I am sad, shocked, and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me,” Pogba declared.

The footballer, known for his dynamic style on the field, has decided to appeal the ban before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), a move that underscores his determination to clear his name and salvage his reputation. Pogba’s appeal could potentially lead to a reevaluation of the judgement, and he remains optimistic about the outcome.

“As a consequence of the decision announced today, I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport. I believe in the principles of fairness and justice, and I am confident that the truth will prevail,” he added.

The doping scandal has sent shockwaves through the football community, with fans and pundits alike expressing surprise at the allegations against Pogba.

As the legal process unfolds, the football world will be closely watching to see how Pogba’s appeal progresses and whether he can successfully clear his name in the face of these serious accusations.

    See statement below:

“I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect.

I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me.

When I am free of legal restrictions the full story will become clear, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.

As a professional athlete I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for, or against.

As a consequence of the decision announced today I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”

Allegri hurt by Mourinho’s brutal sacking at Roma, says ‘Italian football is losing an important coach’

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has expressed dismay over the dismissal of Jose Mourinho from Roma, emphasising that Mourinho did an “extraordinary” job at the Serie A club.

The legendary Portuguese tactician was abruptly relieved of his duties on Tuesday morning, a decision that has startled the world of Italian football.

Despite a recent poor run of form with only one win in their last six league matches, Mourinho’s notable achievements in European competitions with the club have contributed to the surprise surrounding his departure, as acknowledged by Allegri.

The Italian bemoaned Roma’s decision when speaking to Sky Sports Italia: “I’m sorry about his dismissal; Italian football is losing an important coach. Both for what he did in his career and at Roma, it was extraordinary.

“From the outside, everything seems easy. The results demonstrate it. I’m also sorry for the relationship we have. I wish him good luck for the rest and also to Daniele De Rossi, who is at the beginning of his career.”

As Allegri hints, Italy and Roma legend De Rossi assumes immediate charge, with the Giallorossi currently positioned ninth in Serie A and five points away from Champions League contention.

The decision to appoint the former midfielder was reportedly finalised before Mourinho was relieved of his duties, a decision made during a brief and unplanned 25-minute meeting.

With Mourinho now available in the job market, speculations about his next destination are likely to circulate, with teams ranging from Chelsea to Brazil being suggested.

Meanwhile, Allegri continues his pursuit of Serie A glory, as Weston McKennie, Tim Weah, and company are now just two points behind league leaders Inter.

Henderson linked with shocking Juventus move – Reports

Jordan Henderson is reportedly being considered for a surprising January transfer to Juventus, just a few months after his controversial move to the Saudi Pro League.

Gianluca Di Marzio states that Juventus is interested in Henderson to bolster their squad and has initiated contact regarding a potential loan deal.

Despite being with Al-Ettifaq for a short time, Henderson is reportedly seeking an 18-month loan, aligning with the initial part of his 2+1 contract with the Saudi club.

Recently labelled as ‘desperate’ to return to the Premier League due to disappointing results, lacklustre crowds, and rumoured difficulties adapting both on and off the pitch, Henderson’s potential departure could lead to significant financial consequences.

Leaving now might mean giving up substantial wages and facing a substantial tax bill, as the ‘tax-free’ incentive in his contract activates only after two years in Saudi Arabia.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb9r89W8Yww

This move has led to a tarnished reputation, with Henderson perceived to have sacrificed his principles for financial gain, especially given his previous visible support for LGBTQ+ rights.

Initial reports from his July move suggested Henderson’s Saudi Arabian contract, spanning up to three years, is valued at nearly £700,000 ($892,000) per week—more than three times his Liverpool salary.

A departure in January could potentially result in him having to repay £7 million ($9 million) in taxes.

Despite continued selections by England manager Gareth Southgate, Henderson may view a return to an elite league as crucial for his chances of playing a significant role in Euro 2024.

Juventus, on the other hand, might need to offload a player to accommodate the 33-year-old, with Moise Kean being mentioned by Di Marzio as a possible candidate for departure.

  • It is not easy to work with Ronaldo – Ex-Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta

It is not easy to work with Ronaldo – Ex-Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta

Former Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta has acknowledged that working with Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo can be “challenging.”

Ronaldo made a remarkable move to Turin from Real Madrid in the summer of 2018, becoming one of the final marquee signings during Marotta’s tenure with the Bianconeri.

Across 134 appearances, Ronaldo scored 101 goals for Juventus, contributing to two Serie A titles and a Coppa Italia triumph.

Despite his on-field success, Ronaldo’s off-field dynamics posed challenges. Marotta, reflecting on bringing the iconic player to Juventus, shared insights into Ronaldo’s behind-the-scenes demeanour: “He was a very good player; he still is, and above all, he is a great champion.”

Marotta’s acknowledgment sheds light on the complex dynamics involved in working with a football icon of Ronaldo’s stature.

“The champion is that person who manages to convey his beliefs to his teammates. He was a bit of a leader of the team; he was the most famous and he dragged the others into the game. So, it was challenging, but he didn’t make me angry.”

Ronaldo did go on to ruffle feathers back at Manchester United, leading to his release in November 2022, with Paul Pogba doing likewise during his time at Old Trafford.

Marotta says the French midfielder was his most difficult piece of recruitment business when first taking him to Turin in 2012.

He added, “There is a player today who’s at Juventus called Pogba. It was a very complicated deal. Because he came from Manchester United, he hadn’t signed a contract, so there were many teams that wanted him. It was difficult to negotiate his purchase; it was very complex.”

Pogba returned to Juventus in 2022, but he has suffered a number of injury issues back in Italian football and is currently serving a ban after failing a drugs test. Ronaldo, meanwhile, is still going strong at the age of 38 with Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr.

  • Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival likely to aid Sancho’s Juve move

Juventus’ pursuit of signing Jadon Sancho may receive a boost from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, according to Tuttosport.

The 23-year-old forward has faced exclusion from the Manchester United side due to a reported falling out with manager Erik ten Hag, despite his £73 million transfer just two years ago.

Reports suggest that Juventus, heavily interested in Sancho, could benefit from the involvement of former Juve executive Jean-Claude Blanc, expected to be appointed as United’s new CEO.

Blanc, a trusted associate of INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is responsible for overseeing INEOS’ entire sporting portfolio.

Notably, Blanc played a significant role in the revival of Juventus during his five-year tenure and maintains a strong relationship with the Serie A giants.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to become a new minority shareholder of Manchester United, is inclined towards resolving the dispute between Sancho and Ten Hag or facilitating a transfer, recognizing the financial impracticality of the ongoing feud.

The INEOS chief’s strategic involvement, along with Blanc’s influence, could potentially pave the way for Sancho’s move to Juventus.

  • Pioli explains Pulisic’s ‘unexpected’ substitution after Malick Thiaw’s red card against Juventus

Pioli explains Pulisic’s ‘unexpected’ substitution after Malick Thiaw’s red card against Juventus

AC Milan found themselves in a situation where they had to make a sacrifice in the attacking department due to Malick Thiaw’s red card against Juventus.

Stefano Pioli, the Milan manager, explained his rationale for substituting Christian Pulisic.

The Rossoneri were left with 10 players at San Siro, with Thiaw, the German international center-back, receiving a red card just five minutes before half-time. This situation forced Pioli into making significant tactical choices.

While he had the option to maintain his faith in the players remaining on the field and make minor adjustments, Pioli chose to bolster the defense by substituting American forward Pulisic and bringing on Pierre Kalulu.

Despite Pulisic’s evident displeasure at being substituted, Pioli defended his decision, even though Milan went on to suffer a 1-0 defeat.

Pioli told DAZN of why Pulisic had to make way on the back of an untimely dismissal: “I removed an attacker to maintain the same defensive structure that we had prepared during the week. I decided to make [Rafael] Leao and [Olivier] Giroud work against the three Juve defenders and maintain the defensive set-up we had, as there were some good reference points against them.

“We believed that the contribution of the midfielders like [Yunus] Musah and [Tijjani] Reijnders, or Giroud holding up the ball for Leao, could allow us to continue being dangerous in attack. The second half started pretty well, but then we lacked a little intensity above all in midfield. It’s also true that we allowed Juventus barely any chances, so with a little more intensity I feel we could’ve taken home a very important result even down to 10 men.”

Manuel Locatelli netted the only goal of the game for Juventus just past the hour mark, with Weston McKennie and Tim Weah able to celebrate picking up three points in a domestic meeting with United States international team-mates Pulisic and Yunus Musah.

  • Juve stand with Nicolo Fagioli as player serves ban sentence

Juve stand with Nicolo Fagioli as player serves ban sentence

Juventus has pledged complete support for Nicolo Fagioli after the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) officially initiated his seven-month suspension for violating regulations on betting on matches.

The Serie A club made this announcement on Thursday.

The FIGC initially disclosed the penalty on Tuesday and later confirmed that the suspension’s commencement date is October 19.

Consequently, Fagioli may be eligible to return at the conclusion of the season.

The FIGC also confirmed that Fagioli will undergo therapy for his gambling lasting at least six months and in a minimum of 10 public meetings over a period of five months.

“The club has noted the official press release from FIGC n°177/AA and confirms its full support for Nicolo Fagioli in tackling this path,” Juventus said in a statement.

“We will provide the player with the necessary support in carrying out the indicated therapeutic plan and, as expressly provided for in the agreement, collaborating with the Federation to outline the scheduled appointments.”

The club expressed their strong belief that the player will be capable of making a triumphant comeback after serving the ban, with the unwavering support of the club itself, his teammates, family, and the professionals who will aid in his rehabilitation.

Newcastle United, on the other hand, announced on Wednesday that their midfielder, Sandro Tonali, is also currently under scrutiny in connection with betting activities.

Simultaneously, AS Roma conveyed their concern that reports linking their midfielder, Nicola Zalewski, and forward, Stephan El Shaarawy, to betting investigations have adversely impacted the players’ reputations.

“The club has full confidence in Nicola and Stephan when they say they have nothing to do with this matter,” the Serie A club said in a statement.

Juventus midfielder Fagioli issues an apology after his ban for betting

22-year-old Juventus midfielder, Nicolo Fagioli, who faced a ban from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) due to a violation of rules related to betting on matches, has issued an apology to football enthusiasts.

In a social media post on Wednesday, he addressed falsehoods that had been circulated about him.

Fagioli was handed a 12-month suspension, with five of those months being suspended, and was further fined 12,500 euros ($13,225) on Tuesday.

Additionally, he has committed to participating in a program aimed at addressing issues related to gambling.

“I thought I would begin by apologising not only to Juventus fans but to all fans in the world of football and sport for the naive mistake I made,” Fagioli said on his Instagram account.

“Instead, I’m forced to start with the disgusting things that newspapers and people write about me, just to put me in a bad light with a thousand lies, or rather, just to gain two more views.”

At present, the 22-year-old has refrained from providing additional information. He concluded his social media post by stating that he plans to address the matter in the near future.

Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo similarly departed from the national team’s headquarters last week upon learning that they, too, were subjects of an investigation initiated by prosecutors.

  • Juve’s Nicolo Fagioli slapped with a seven-month football ban over betting on illegal platforms

Juve’s Nicolo Fagioli slapped with a seven-month football ban over betting on illegal platforms

Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has been given a seven-month football ban for betting on illegal platforms.

This means he won’t be playing for the rest of the season.

The Turin prosecutor’s office imposed a 12-month suspension, with five months served through alternative methods.

Fagioli also faces a €12,500 (£11,000/$13,000) fine and mandatory therapy.

This reduced punishment is a departure from the standard three-year penalty for violating Article 24 of the Sporting Justice Code.

The decision is based on a plea bargain negotiated by Fagioli’s lawyers.

The primary reason for the reduced penalty is Fagioli’s full cooperation with the authorities and his commitment to overcoming his gambling addiction.

Despite the lighter penalty, this is a significant setback for Juventus, as they lose another midfielder in addition to Paul Pogba, who is facing an extended suspension for a banned substance violation.

Massimiliano Allegri’s team is set to face AC Milan in a Serie A match on Sunday.

  • List of 10 potential January transfers Juventus is considering

List of 10 potential January transfers Juventus is considering

Juventus is actively assessing its options in preparation for the January transfer window, and Tuttosport has provided a list of ten players they are currently keeping an eye on.

The Bianconeri are showing interest in Domenico Berardi from Sassuolo and Heorhii Sudakov from Shakhtar Donetsk, both of whom are expected to enhance the team’s attacking capabilities.

The midfield is a major area of concern, given the potential suspensions of Paul Pogba due to doping allegations and Nicolo Fagioli due to suspected gambling.

Khephren Thuram of Nice is the top choice in this category, although the €40 million asking price for the 22-year-old could pose challenges to securing the deal.

In the category of players who can make an immediate impact while also developing with experience, Juventus is considering Manu Kone, a 22-year-old midfielder from Borussia Monchengladbach, and 21-year-old Lazar Samardzic, an attacker from Udinese.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur is also under consideration, although, at 28 years old, he falls in a slightly older age bracket but may require a comparable investment.

Additionally, Juventus is keeping an eye on Arthur Vermeeren from Royal Antwerp and Habib Diarra from Strasbourg, both 18 and 19 years old, respectively, acknowledging that they might need time to adapt.

The 18-year-old Mahamadou Diawara from Olympique Lyonnais is another midfielder on their radar, and they are also monitoring his more attacking teammate, 20-year-old Rayan Cherki.

  •  McKennie needs to convince Juve for a contract extension

McKennie needs to convince Juve for a contract extension

The possibility of a contract extension for U.S. men’s national team midfielder Weston McKennie at Juventus largely depends on his upcoming performances, as reported by Calciomercato.

McKennie, who is 25 years old, hasn’t consistently been a starter at the Allianz Stadium and spent last season on loan at Leeds United, where he made 19 Premier League appearances as the club unfortunately faced relegation. Initially, it was anticipated that the former FC Dallas and Schalke 04 midfielders would once again leave Juventus during the summer transfer window, but no such move materialised.

Instead, McKennie has been part of Juventus’ starting lineup in all four of their opening games this season. He began the most recent two matches and even provided an assist in their 3-1 victory over Lazio.

McKennie’s existing contract is scheduled to expire in the summer of 2025. As Juventus has not yet committed to extending his stay beyond that period, he is now focused on impressing manager Massimiliano Allegri to secure another contract.

Earlier this month, McKennie acknowledged that transitioning back to Juventus from Leeds was challenging, but he is determined to demonstrate his value to the team.

“Coming back to Juventus wasn’t easy,” he said during USMNT camp. “I left the club at a time of crisis, I guess you could say. And so coming back, I felt like I started back at square zero, but that is a challenge I’m always up for, a challenge that I think I needed at this time in my career to kind of prove to people that I still have it.”

With Paul Pogba’s future uncertain after doping charges, there is now an opportunity for McKennie to establish himself in Allegri’s lineup, which the American is currently taking.

Juventus’ next match—and McKennie’s next opportunity to impress—comes against Sassuolo on Saturday, with the club having lost three of their four Serie A matches this season.

  • Juventus might terminate Pogba’s contract

    Juventus might terminate Pogba’s contract

Juventus will terminate Paul Pogba’s contract if he receives a drug offence suspension, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

After Juventus’ match against Udinese on August 20, Pogba tested positively for testosterone.

He sat on Juve’s bench but did not participate in the Serie A game.

The anti-doping organisation Nado Italia said that Pogba has been suspended temporarily with immediate effect.

He runs the risk of a four-year suspension while his case is tried and a backup B sample is tested.

According to a source who spoke to ESPN’s Julien Laurens, the food supplements were given to him by a friend of his who works as a doctor in Miami; nevertheless, Italy does not sell those specific food supplements.

Pogba has a three-year contract with Juventus and is paid a large salary of €8 million a year plus €2 million in bonuses. While the lawsuit is still pending, his pay has already been cut to just €2,000 per month.

He joined the team again last year on a free transfer from Manchester United, but due to a number of fitness difficulties, he has only played in seven Serie A games.

  • Deschamps, Kingsley stand with Pogba amid anti-doping investigations

Deschamps, Kingsley stand with Pogba amid anti-doping investigations

France manager Didier Deschamps and Kingsley Coman have strongly supported Paul Pogba in the wake of his recent failed drug test at Juventus.

Pogba faced a provisional suspension from the Italian anti-doping authority due to a positive test for testosterone, a hormone known for enhancing athletes’ endurance.

If proven guilty, the 30-year-old could potentially face a football ban of up to four years following this random drug test. Reports from Italy suggest that Pogba has until the end of this week to provide a counter-analysis of the test result.

Despite these serious allegations, both French national team manager Deschamps and Bayern Munich star Coman have rallied behind their compatriot, Paul Pogba.

Deschamps, who has had a working relationship with Pogba since taking charge of Les Bleus in 2012, expressed his disbelief at the notion that Pogba could be involved in such an offense.

“I can’t imagine that, knowing him, with everything that is in his head. I still remember certain discussions with him on the vaccine and Covid… The substance is there, but afterwards, unless there is a second opinion…,” he said to reporters. “I don’t think he himself knows [why] unfortunately. It’s hard for him. I have always supported him.”

Bayern winger Coman, who has played alongside the Juve midfielder for France for years, protested Pogba’s innocence and weighed in with his support.

“We all support Paul; he’s a very close friend; he’s part of the family,” he told reporters. “We don’t really know more, we’ll have to look. But we know, Paul, we know that if something happened, it was surely unconsciously and without intention. We are with him wholeheartedly.”

Pogba’s second stint at Juventus, starting in 2022 after his return from Manchester United, has been marked by a challenging period. The 2018 World Cup champion faced significant setbacks, including extensive absences due to knee and hamstring injuries.

Additionally, he revealed that he contemplated leaving the sport entirely, citing alleged extortion by an organised crime group as a distressing factor in his decision-making.

  • Pogba suspended by anti-doping agency for testing positive for testosterone

Pogba suspended by anti-doping agency for testing positive for testosterone

On Monday, Italy’s anti-doping agency, Nado Italia, revealed that Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba had tested positive for testosterone.

The test was conducted following Juventus‘ match against Udinese on August 20.

While Pogba did not participate in the Serie A game, he was present on Juventus’ bench.

As a result of this positive test, Nado Italia has imposed an immediate provisional suspension on Pogba. Pending a trial and the testing of a backup B sample, he faces the possibility of a suspension lasting up to four years.

“In acceptance of the instance proposed by the National Anti-doping Prosecutor, it has provided for the provisional suspension of the athlete Paul Labile Pogba,” Nado Italia said in a statement.

The tribunal said Pogba had violated anti-doping rules when they found the prohibited substance “non-endogenous testosterone metabolites,” adding that the results were “consistent with the exogenous origin of the target compounds.”

Juventus issued a statement acknowledging the positive result and suspension, adding that it would “evaluate the next procedural steps.”

“We are waiting for the results of the counter-analysis and cannot say anything until then,” Pogba’s agent Rafaela Pimenta said in a statement reported by Italian media.

“The only certain thing is that Paul Pogba never intended to break the rules.”

Paul Pogba, who has been plagued by injuries since his return to Juventus from Manchester United just over a year ago, has encountered another setback. He was sidelined from France’s journey to the World Cup final last year due to a knee injury.

In addition to his injury struggles, Pogba has been at the center of a police investigation in France concerning allegations of extortion, with even his older brother Mathias implicated, although Mathias has denied any wrongdoing. Earlier on Monday, Pogba admitted to contemplating retirement as these events unfolded.

In the current season, Pogba has not yet started a game but has made two substitute appearances, with his most recent appearance coming in the 2-0 victory against Empoli.

This development adds to the challenges faced by Juventus, which endured a season marked by investigations into false accounting and irregular salary reporting. These legal matters resulted in UEFA excluding the Turin club from European competition this season.

As of now, Pogba has not provided an immediate comment on the situation.

  • Juventus bosses refute club sale claims

Juventus bosses refute club sale claims

The parent company of Juventus and controlled by the Agnelli family, Exor, firmly refuted reports in Il Giornale that it had intentions to put the Serie A club up for sale.

Following this statement, Juventus shares experienced an initial surge of up to 4.8% at the market opening, but this gain quickly moderated to just a 0.3% increase by 09:00 GMT, aligning with the broader performance of the Milan stock exchange.

A spokesperson for Exor dismissed Il Giornale’s report, labelling it “baseless.”

The newspaper had suggested that Exor found Juventus’s recent financial results unsustainable and was disconcerted by the club’s ongoing legal troubles.

Juventus, along with its former Chairman Andrea Agnelli and 11 others, potentially faces a trial after Italian judges initiated a criminal case last year, alleging false accounting.

The club maintains that its accounting procedures comply with industry standards and has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

As reported by Reuters in May, representatives of the Agnelli family appeared to be more receptive to discussing the club’s financial future, according to sources with knowledge of the matter.

However, Exor reiterated its unwavering commitment to Juventus at that time, dismissing any suggestions to the contrary as unfounded and aimed at creating uncertainty.

Sources informed Reuters that no imminent changes were expected, and any potential decisions would only be made once there is clarity regarding the accounting and legal issues looming over the club.

Exor owns around 64% of the shares and 78% of the voting rights in Juventus, which has a market value of around 800 million euros, according to Refinitiv data.

According to Il Giornale, Exor believes it could put Juventus up for sale for at least 1.5 billion euros after taking measures to resolve its accounting issues.

The investigation into Juventus’s accounts also triggered separate inquiries by Italy’s soccer authorities, which eventually cost Juventus a 10-point deduction in the past Serie A season, a 718,000 euro fine and a ban, decided by UEFA, from this season’s European competitions.

Juventus has absorbed some 700 million euros in cash from shareholders over the past four years, roughly two-thirds of which has come from Exor, in whose portfolio the club is the only major business not currently making money.

Juve fans storm pitch with ‘we don’t want Lukaku chants’ amid links with Chelsea flop

It’s quite evident that Juventus fans are far from pleased with their club’s efforts to secure the services of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

The frustration among Juve supporters reached a boiling point at the Allianz Stadium, where a training match involving the first team and the reserve side turned into utter chaos.

The supporters used this opportunity to express their strong opposition to the potential acquisition of the 30-year-old striker, passionately chanting, “We don’t want Lukaku!”

Reportedly, the Belgian national player has come to terms on personal conditions with the Serie A side. This sets the stage for a potential transfer from Chelsea during this summer’s transfer window.

As part of this potential deal, Dusan Vlahovic is being suggested as a player who might move in the opposite direction from Juventus to Chelsea.

Romelu Lukaku is no stranger to Serie A, having previously played for Inter, the archrivals of Juventus, on two separate occasions.

In fact, during the 2020–21 season, he clinched the top scorer title while propelling Antonio Conte’s Nerazzurri squad to the championship.

Intriguingly, Juve’s most passionate fans, the ultras, have previously cautioned the club against acquiring Lukaku.

The verdict on whether the Juventus leadership will persist in their pursuit of the former Manchester United player remains uncertain.

However, reports indicate that Chelsea has no interest in securing Dusan Vlahovic as part of the deal.

With the potential for further unrest and the additional complication of the club’s ongoing exclusion from European competitions this season, Juventus finds itself in the midst of considerable turmoil.

Lukaku could have acted like a man ‘we expected him to behave differently’ – Inter veep

    Romelu Lukaku’s actions
as he allegedly persists in seeking a move to Juventus have drawn criticism from Inter Milan vice president Javier Zanetti.

The association between Chelsea striker Lukaku and Inter Milan, where he spent the previous season on loan, reportedly deteriorated earlier in the summer as the Belgian player indicated his desire for a transfer to Juventus.

This came despite Inter Milan’s aspirations to secure his permanent signing.

Javier Zanetti, the esteemed former Inter midfielder, has strongly criticised the 30-year-old forward for his behaviour.

Lukaku had previously expressed affection for the club, stating that he loved it and praising its “best fans in the world.” However, Zanetti’s comments imply Lukaku’s actions have contradicted his earlier sentiments.

The Inter chief told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Given what Inter has done for him, we expected him to behave differently, as a professional and as a man. He has the right to go where he wants, of course, but he could have told us that beforehand. Nobody is bigger than the club, and when building a team, you always have to consider who you are bringing into the dressing room.”

Lukaku is likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, but his future is currently uncertain.

The former Manchester United attacker, whose contract at Chelsea expires in 2027, may have tarnished his reputation with the Serie A side as he reportedly stopped answering phone calls from the club.

At the same time, he opened talks with Juventus over a potential switch, and his actions have sparked outrage from fans of Inter and the Bianconeri.

Lukaku and Chelsea agreed he would not link up with the first-team squad earlier this summer, and the club have all but confirmed his exit after not giving him a squad number.

The Blues start their season against Liverpool on Sunday, August 13, whereas Inter’s campaign begins against Monza on Saturday, August 12.

Ancelotti reveals cause of Madrid’s recent struggles in pre-season tour

    Carlo Ancelotti has
indicated that Real Madrid’s recent pre-season tour has highlighted a significant vulnerability for the club as they head into the 2023/24 season, particularly in their defense.

During their pre-season tour, Real Madrid allowed three goals across three matches. Their final pre-season game saw them suffer a 3-1 loss to the formidable Italian team Juventus.

Sportskeeda reports that Ancelotti openly acknowledged that his Real Madrid squad conceded an excessive number of goals during these matches. This followed their earlier match against rivals Barcelona, where they also let in three goals.

“Offensively, there are no problems, but we have to sort it out defensively. It’s an easy problem to solve. There are things we have to try in this period, and it has been quite clear what we need to fix things.”

After defeating AC Milan and Manchester United in their first two preseason games, Los Blancos have been thrashed in their last two games against Barcelona and Juventus.

Fans blast Real Madrid after defeat
Fans have taken to social media to lambast Real Madrid after they lost 3-1 to Juventus in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night in the United States, SB Media reports.

Some disappointed fans claimed Real Madrid would struggle against MLS Franchise Inter Miami, while some also labelled Carlo Ancelotti as ‘the worst manager in the world’ after the 3-1 defeat.

Real Madrid will kickstart their 2023/24 campaign against Athletic Club on August 12 as the Spanish giants try to reclaim the La Liga title they lost to Barcelona last season.

Lukaku ready to move to Juve in a 3 year deal, but move dependent on Dusan Vlahovic swap decision

Reports indicate that Romelu Lukaku has allegedly agreed to a three-year contract with Juventus, pending the outcome of Dusan Vlahovic’s potential transfer to Chelsea.

Juventus, the Serie A giants, have a strong interest in acquiring the services of the Belgian striker.

Yet, this move is contingent upon Vlahovic’s departure from Juventus.

As per Di Marzio, the two clubs are actively engaged in discussions to orchestrate a swap deal that would involve the exchange of these two forwards.

Meanwhile, Lukaku has already reached an agreement on personal terms with the Bianconeri.

He is poised to sign a three-year contract, inclusive of an option for an additional year.

Chelsea has set their sights on Vlahovic as a valuable addition to enhance their attacking options.

However, they are hesitant to meet the €50 million (£43m/$54.60m) asking price.

Conversely, Juventus seems open to negotiation and may accept a reduced fee of €40m (£34.5m/$43.69m), given their eagerness to finalize the arrangement.

Juventus aims to address their financial situation and seeks to maximize their gains by selling Vlahovic.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri acknowledged that the deal’s completion is intertwined with the club’s financial considerations.

Ongoing negotiations between the two clubs are striving to bring Lukaku to Turin and secure Vlahovic’s shift to Chelsea.

Yet, Lukaku has recently appeared to downplay suggestions of his imminent move to Turin, fueling further speculation about his future.

Fingers crossed as Juve waits on Chelsea for Lukaku deal

Personal terms have been reached between Romelu Lukaku and Juventus, as reported by Sky Italia. However, the Belgium striker’s move to Juventus hinges on Chelsea’s approval.

Lukaku, at 30 years old, has agreed to a three-year contract with the Italian club, which includes an option for a further season.

Juventus has put forth a proposal: they are willing to take Lukaku this summer if Chelsea secures the signature of Juve striker Dusan Vlahovic and pays €40 million as part of the arrangement.

The Serbia international, Vlahovic, was acquired by Juve for €70 million from Fiorentina in January 2022.

However, the 23-year-old has struggled to replicate his prolific goal-scoring form under the management of Massimiliano Allegri.

Lukaku, who joined Chelsea from Inter Milan for €115 million in 2021, experienced a less-than-ideal 2022-23 season while on loan at the Italian club. He purportedly declined a permanent return to Inter and is considering an offer to play in Saudi Arabia.

Italy and Juve goalkeeper Gigi Buffon retires at 45

The 2006 World Cup champion spent the previous season with his childhood club Parma, contributing to their fourth-place finish in Serie B and their advancement to the Coppa Italia’s last 16, where they were eliminated by eventual victors Inter Milan.

Buffon signed an extension with Parma until 2024 in February. However, he has chosen to retire before the start of the 2023-24 season.

During his initial spell with Parma, the Italian goalkeeper secured the UEFA Cup in 1998-99. He later moved to Juventus in July 2001 for a then-record £32 million fee for a goalkeeper.

Buffon’s time at Juventus was marked by significant triumphs, clinching the Serie A title 10 times in two separate tenures with the Turin-based team and amassing a total of 685 appearances.

He spent the 2018-19 season at Paris Saint-Germain, where he contributed to another league championship.

Buffon’s remarkable career was accompanied by numerous individual honors, including 13 Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year awards.

With 176 international caps earned over his 23-year tenure with the Azzurri, Buffon ranks ninth among male players with the most international appearances.

Chelsea is reportedly open to a swap deal that would send Romelu Lukaku to Juventus in exchange for Dusan Vlahovic heading to Stamford Bridge.

According to Sky Sports Italia, Juventus is the only club currently showing interest in the 30-year-old striker, as his potential return to Internazionale has been ruled out.

Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter, but with their interest withdrawn, he is now uncertain about his future.

While there have been some interests from Saudi clubs, Lukaku is said to be keen on returning to Serie A.

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has been impressed with Dusan Vlahovic’s performances, as the 23-year-old Serbian forward netted 14 goals for Juventus during the 2022-23 season.

  • I know Mane is hurt, but it is for the best now – Thomas Tuchel on Sadio’s exit

I know Mane is hurt, but it is for the best now – Thomas Tuchel on Sadio’s exit

Bayern Munich manager, Thomas Tuchel, expressed his sadness over Sadio Mane’s departure from the club, but he believes it is for the best.

Mane, who joined Bayern just a year ago, is set to join Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, joining the ranks of players moving to the Middle East. The 31-year-old’s reported deal with Al Nassr is worth around $45 million.

Mane expressed his regret about leaving Bayern, stating, “Leaving Bayern hurts me. I would have wished for a different ending.” Tuchel, speaking in Singapore ahead of a friendly against Liverpool, echoed Mane’s sentiments about the departure.

“We had a long, big hug and we both agreed that we don’t like what’s happening now, but we think it’s for the best in this situation,” said the Bayern coach.

“Sometimes things don’t work out as everybody wants it to work out. In person I have always had a very good relationship with him and this will stay.

“I can totally understand that he feels hurt and I also wouldn’t feel happy if things like this happened.

“Obviously it’s something that we didn’t bring into the full potential, which is my job and my responsibility, but in this particular situation, it was the best solution to untie the knot.”

While Mane is leaving Bayern, the German side are being heavily linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, with club representatives reportedly travelling to London to discuss a deal with the Premier League side on Monday.

While Tuchel refused to discuss the future of the England captain, he said the club is clear about the players they hope to bring in during the transfer window.

“I think it’s very important in our position to take clear positions and focus on a few players to strengthen the squad,” he said.

“We want to bring additional players to the squad that we are absolutely convinced of in terms of personality and quality, and to not be distracted in the transfer window by pressure of time or by alternatives.”

  • UEFA expels Juventus from Europa Conference League over FFP rules breaching

UEFA expels Juventus from Europa Conference League over FFP rules breaching

UEFA has taken disciplinary actions against both Juventus and Chelsea for breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

Juventus has been expelled from this season’s Europa Conference League and fined £17.14m.

However, they will only need to pay half of the fine if they comply with financial regulations over the next three years.

Similarly, Chelsea has been fined £8.57m for breaching FFP rules due to “submitting incomplete financial information.”

The fine is related to transactions that occurred between 2012 and 2019. Chelsea has already agreed to pay the settlement figure.

Notably, Chelsea’s significant spending on new players, totaling around £600m for 19 signings since Todd Boehly assumed ownership in May 2022, is not the reason behind their fine.

The financial breach pertains to a seven-year period when Roman Abramovich was in control of the club.

Uefa said: “Following the club’s sale in May 2022, the new ownership identified, and proactively reported to Uefa, instances of potentially incomplete financial reporting under the club’s previous ownership.”

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) must now notify Uefa of which club will replace Juve in the third-tier European competition.

It is likely to be Fiorentina, who were beaten by West Ham in last year’s final after they finished eighth in Serie A.

The case against Juventus follows a 718,000 euro (£620,000) fine as part of a settlement agreement with Italian football authorities over a case concerning the payment of player salaries.

Juventus had also been docked 10 Serie A points last season following a hearing into the club’s past transfer dealings.

They were initially handed a 15-point penalty in January but Italy’s highest sporting court overturned that decision in April and ordered the case to be re-examined.

They would have finished fourth and qualified for next season’s Champions League had they not been sanctioned.

In response to the charge, Juventus said they accept Uefa’s decision and will not be lodging an appeal.

Club president Gianluca Ferrero said: “We regret the decision of the Uefa. We do not share the interpretation that has been given of our defence, and we remain firmly convinced of the legitimacy of our actions and the validity of our arguments.

“However, we have decided not to appeal this judgment

“Lodging an appeal, possibly to other levels of judgement, with uncertain outcomes and timing, would increase the uncertainty with respect to our eventual participation in the 2024/25 Uefa Champions League.”

Juventus secure win over AC Milan at California friendly

    Juventus emerged
victorious in a thrilling pre-season friendly against AC Milan, with a 4-3 win on penalties after the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

The exciting encounter took place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, the home of Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy, and saw both Serie A giants display an impressive performance.

Malick Thiaw, the German defender of Milan, opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a powerful header from a free-kick delivered by Theo Hernandez.

Juventus quickly equalized ten minutes later when Danilo found the back of the net amid a goalmouth scramble.

In the 39th minute, Milan reclaimed the lead as Thiaw’s header from a Christian Pulisic corner set up Olivier Giroud to score a well-taken volley.

However, Juventus showed their resilience and leveled the score again with Federico Chiesa’s free-kick, which deflected off Giroud before finding the back of the net.

As the match progressed, both teams made numerous substitutions, introducing reserve and youth players, causing a decrease in intensity and quality on the field.

The contest was decided through a penalty shoot-out during which Juventus’ backup goalkeeper, Carlo Pinsoglio, made three crucial saves to secure the victory for Massimiliano Allegri’s team.

Following the pre-season friendly, both teams will conclude their tour by facing top Spanish clubs.

AC Milan will take on Barcelona in Las Vegas on Tuesday, while Juventus will compete against Real Madrid in Orlando on Wednesday.

  • A disappointment, ‘didn’t expect that attitude’ – Lautaro Martinez lash out at Lukaku over Inter transfer saga

A disappointment, ‘didn’t expect that attitude’ – Lautaro Martinez lash out at Lukaku over Inter transfer saga

Lautaro Martinez has criticized Romelu Lukaku amid a strained relationship between Lukaku and Inter.

Inter had been in talks with Chelsea regarding Lukaku’s potential transfer, but it was later revealed that Lukaku was also negotiating with Serie A rivals Juventus.

As a result of this development, Inter swiftly pulled out of the negotiations. While reports suggest that Lukaku attempted to mend fences with Inter and his former teammates, he was met with a cold reception from the squad.

Martinez, Lukaku’s former strike partner, expressed his disapproval of Lukaku’s “attitude” and revealed that the 30-year-old didn’t even respond to his calls during the tumultuous period.

“I was disappointed, it’s the truth. I also tried to call him in those days of chaos, he never answered me, the same he did with my other companions.

“After so many years together, after so many things lived together, I was disappointed. Thankfully, it’s his choice. I wish him the best. But I didn’t expect this attitude,” he stated to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

After a phenomenal last season where he scored 27 goals in 56 matches across all competitions, Martinez, has been handed the armband for the 2023-24 season.

He is ecstatic after being bestowed with the honour of leading the Serie A side and feels “ready” for the job.

“Wearing it means taking on more responsibility within the team, inside the locker room. But I’ve always done it before. I have a goal: to lend a hand to comrades in need. Important players have left?

“True, but I’m ready. For me it is a source of pride, I want to live up to the many champions who have worn the armband in Inter’s history and make everyone proud of me.

“I’m in my sixth season here: I understand everything, I know everything, what I’ve learned I make available. I told the newcomers that if they’ve arrived at Inter it’s because they have something and they’ve been chosen, not by chance.

“When you play, give everything and then the love of the fans will take care of the rest,” he stated.
Juventus are trying to persuade Chelsea to allow Lukaku to leave on another loan spell with an option to buy but the Blues remain adamant that they want a permanent sale.

On Thursday, Martinez is set to participate in a pre-season friendly against Al-Nassr at the Nagai Stadium in Japan.

  • Paul Pogba to miss pre-season tour as club confirms he is ‘Still not ready to play’

Paul Pogba to miss pre-season tour as club confirms he is ‘Still not ready to play’

Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed that Paul Pogba is still not fit for action with Juventus and will sit out the club’s U.S. tour.

The French midfielder’s return to Turin as a free agent in 2022 has been marred by injuries.

Pogba endured a tough season with Juventus, making only 10 appearances due to various fitness issues, including a knee problem that required surgery.

As the Bianconeri ramp up preparations for the 2023-24 season during their U.S. tour, Pogba is present with the squad but won’t be involved in friendly matches against AC Milan and Real Madrid.

Allegri’s confirmation indicates that the midfielder’s recovery is not yet complete, and Juventus will be cautious with his return to action.

Allegri has told reporters when asked for an update on Pogba: “I don’t think Paul will play during the tournée.

Practically, he has never trained with the group. He is working separately. He is doing well, but even last season there were times he was improving and then stopped.

Seeing him running, I can say he’s slightly improving, but he’s still not ready to play. We have to wait at least one month before seeing him with the team.”

Allegri also revealed that Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic – who has been generating transfer talk – is being handled with care after suffering fitness struggles of his own.

He added: “We are trying to manage Dusan in the best way, don’t forget he had groin issues at the end of last season. Therefore, he must not overdo, in order to be fit for the start of the season.”

  • Juventus speak on Paul Pogba’s future at club after difficult season

Juventus speak on Paul Pogba’s future at club after difficult season

Despite facing a challenging season in 2022-23, Paul Pogba may still have a future at Juventus as the club considers him “fundamental” to their plans.

The French World Cup-winning midfielder returned to Juventus for a second stint in 2022, joining the Bianconeri as a free agent after his contract with Manchester United expired.

However, Pogba’s reunion with the Italian club turned into a nightmare when he suffered a pre-season injury that ultimately required surgery.

Due to the injury, Pogba’s playing time was severely limited, and he only managed to make 10 appearances throughout the disrupted campaign. As a result, there have been rumors of Juventus considering selling him, with links to teams in Saudi Arabia being mentioned.

Nevertheless, despite the challenges, Juventus still values Pogba’s contributions and considers him a key part of their future plans. They recognize his importance to the team and are not ruling out his continued involvement at the club.

Juve’s sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, has now addressed that speculation, telling reporters at his first press conference in a new job when asked for an update on Pogba: “His situation is clear, the guy is returning from a difficult season and we are waiting for him. He is fundamental for us, he has experience and quality and we rely on him to mentor the many lads we have.”

USMNT star Weston McKennie is another of those to have seen an imminent transfer speculated on, but no deal has been done and Giuntoli added on the American midfielder: “We’ve never said McKennie is out of the project, right now there are players on the market. We are in talks with a couple of clubs for [Denis] Zakaria, same as Arthur and Leonardo but we haven’t found anything that suits him [Bonucci] yet.”

A costly points deduction meant that Juve could only muster a seventh-place finish in 2022-23, with the lack of Champions League football on their schedule also set to make life difficult when it comes to retaining the services of top talent and bringing more on board.

Juventus matches Inter’s €40 million bid for Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku transfer saga has taken another turn with Juventus entering the picture by making a bid for the Chelsea striker.

While it appeared that Lukaku’s return to Inter was inevitable, with the player rejecting other offers and expressing his desire to rejoin the Champions League finalists, Juventus has now matched Inter’s bid.

They have offered €37.5 million (£32m/$41m) plus bonuses, which could reach €40m (£34m/$45m).

According to reports from Sky Sport Italia, Lukaku is now refusing to communicate with Inter directors.

Juventus has informed Chelsea that they need to sell Dusan Vlahovic before finalizing the deal for Lukaku.

They hope to complete the Vlahovic transfer before August 4, which means the Lukaku saga might extend for several more weeks.

While there has been significant speculation surrounding Vlahovic, there is little concrete news regarding an actual bid for him at this time.

Chelsea would like to wrap the Lukaku deal up as soon as possible and would prefer to continue dealing with Inter.

How the saga unfolds is anyone’s guess.

Juventus need to sell Vlahovic before they can buy Lukaku, whereas Inter will have the funds to sign him once Andre Onana completes his move to Manchester United.

PSG are still in talks with Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who is also being linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

Pogba may part ways with Juventus for Al Ahli soon

Paul Pogba has received a three-year, €100 million contract offer from the Saudi Arabian team Al Ahli, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 30-year-old French midfielder will join Edouard Mendy, a former Chelsea custodian, and Roberto Firmino, a former Liverpool striker, on Al Ahli’s roster.

The Saudi Pro League team, which has already spoken the terms of the deal to Pogba’s agent Rafaela Pimenta, will want to assess his physical condition before offering him the contract.

The revelation comes following an injury-plagued campaign in which Pogba, who Juventus re-signed from Manchester United as a free agent last summer, managed just 161 minutes from 10 appearances across all competitions.

There are also questions about whether or not Pogba wants to leave the Serie A side.

If Pogba tells Juventus that he wants to move, the Bianconeri will not block the deal and will look to bring in a €10m transfer fee.

Fellow midfielders Denis Zakaria, Weston McKennie and Arthur Melo could also leave Juventus, who are looking at Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners, Barcelona’s Franck Kessie, Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo de Paul and Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra as possible candidates to strengthen that area.

Man Utd shifts focus to Adrien Rabiot

Manchester United is reportedly interested in securing the services of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer once his contract expires, the Athletic has reported.

The 28-year-old French international has been engaged in negotiations for several weeks regarding a new deal, as his current terms are set to end at the conclusion of the month.

Rabiot featured in 32 Serie A matches last season, netting eight goals, and has previously expressed his ambition to play in the Premier League.

United have been chasing a £55 million deal for Chelsea’s Mason Mount, but sources have told ESPN the club are considering other options including Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus and Taylor Booth at FC Utrecht.

Meanwhile, United will reportedly listen to offers for up to 13 players as they hope to bring in £100m, according to The Daily Mail.

The Red Devils will readily let go of Donny van de Beek, Fred, Anthony Elanga, Hannibal Mejbri, Alex Telles, Eric Bailly, Brandon Williams and Zidane Iqbal.

They will also listen to offers to sign Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Dean Henderson, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho, with the latter reportedly available for £45m.

That is in addition to players who will leave as free agents, which could still include goalkeeper David de Gea.

Juventus express interest in signing Arsenal midfielder Partey

Italian powerhouse Juventus has shown keen interest in acquiring the services of Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey.

According to renowned football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Bianconeri have made inquiries regarding Partey’s availability.

It has been reported that Juventus would be open to pursuing the Ghanaian midfielder if French midfielder Adrien Rabiot departs from the club.

Furthermore, there are undisclosed clubs from Saudi Arabia willing to pay €40 million in installments to secure Partey’s signature from Arsenal.

However, the former Atletico Madrid midfielder is yet to decide on a move to play in the Gulf, a report by Romano claims.

The Ghanaian is on Arsenals’ outgoing list as the club aims at freeing up their wage bill to make room for new signings. But the Gunners are only willing to cash in on Partey, who has two years left in his contract, for the right price.

Thomas Partey, who has been a big contributor to Arsenal’s resurgence, joined the Gunners in 2020.

  • Arsenal earn huge boost in Champions League after Juventus 10-point deduction

And it means that failing to beat AC Milan on Sunday will end their hope of Champions League qualification for next season – and ensure the Gunners will be in the second seeding pot for the group stage draw in August.

The final verdict by Italian FA Court of Appeal is the latest development in a long-running saga.

In January, Juve were found guilty of a transfer scam over three seasons, which was orchestrated by then-sporting director Fabio Paratici, who joined Spurs in 2021.

Juventus were judged to have inflated transfer fees in dealings with other Italian clubs to create millions of pounds in “capital gains” for tax purposes.

That allowed the club to spend more in the market than would have been allowed under Financial Fair Play regulations.

The Turin outfit was initially handed a 15-point deduction, when senior club figures including ex-President Andrea Agnelli and Paratici were handed lengthy bans.

Although the points punishment was suspended last month, pending yesterday’s hearing, Paratici resigned from his role at Tottenham after his ban was confirmed.

Prosecutor Giuseppe Chine, on behalf of the Italian FA, demanded an 11-point penalty at the start of a three-hour virtual hearing on Monday.

Juventus argued that the punishment should not be so severe because the breaches took place under Agnelli’s leadership of the club and that there had subsequently been a major overhaul of the board.

But the tribunal imposed the major punishment in a verdict which the club suggested it might still appeal.

Juventus said: “This judgment arouses great bitterness in the club and in its millions of supporters.”

UEFA have already opened proceedings which could result in a European ban for the Italian club.

But if Juve are not in next season’s Champions League, Arsenal will be assured of a place in the second group of seeds and avoid a potential nightmare draw in the group phase.
