Arrest warrant issued for Kansas City Chiefs’ Rashee Rice over hit-and-run accident

An arrest warrant has been issued for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice after he was involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured four people.

Police in Dallas, Texas, reported that two speeding cars, a Lamborghini and a Corvette, caused “a chain reaction collision” on March 30.

Rice faces eight charges, including aggravated assault and collision involving serious bodily injury.

According to external reports, the 23-year-old plans to hand himself in.

Last week, Rice, who was driving the Lamborghini, apologized for his role in the crash, stating that he took “full responsibility” and would cooperate with authorities.

Police informed the BBC that the occupants of both speeding cars fled the scene of the crash.

Theodore Knox, 21, was driving the Corvette and is also the subject of an arrest warrant on the same charges. His attorney, external sources say, stated that they have “fully cooperated with law enforcement”.

Two drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries, while two motorists in another vehicle were taken to a local hospital.

Rice was drafted to the NFL in 2023 and played in the Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl victory in February.

  • Kansas City shooting: 21 injured and one dead near Super Bowl parade

Kansas City shooting: 21 injured and one dead near Super Bowl parade

One person has been killed and 21 people were injured in a shooting in Missouri after the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade.

Authorities said they helped eight people who were in serious danger of dying right away and seven others who were hurt badly enough to possibly die.

Nine kids got hurt, but they are all expected to get better.

The police have caught three people they think are involved in the shooting.

The gunshots were heard near Union Station, the train station in downtown Kansas City. The parade had just finished there at 2:00 PM local time (8:00 PM GMT), and there were a lot of fans watching.

Local news said that the Kansas City Chiefs players were still on a stage when they heard the first shots.

The sound of the guns made everyone, including the mayor and his family, to run and hide.

Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said that the officers went to the area right after the gunshots and detectives started to investigate right away. The Fire Department quickly helped the injured people.

Officials said that over 800 police officers were already there to watch over the parade. The city’s firefighters were there to help with any injuries.

At a meeting on Wednesday, Chief Graves said 22 people were shot – one person died – and three people were taken into custody.

A radio station in the area said that one of their DJs, Lisa Lopez, was killed in the shooting.

The people who were still alive were taken to three nearby hospitals, officials said. The ones who were in very critical condition were taken to the hospital within 10 minutes of the shooting.

Nine kids between ages six and 15 are in the hospital with gunshot wounds. Chief nursing officer Stephanie Meyer is taking care of them.

“Ms Meyer said that the people we saw seemed scared when they came to us. ”

Local hospitals are also helping people who were hurt in the big rush after the shooting, even if they weren’t shot.

The city officials did not tell anyone the names of the people who were hurt. They also didn’t tell us anything about the people who got arrested, or what caused the shooting.

A police source told media, that the shooting seems to have happened because of a fight that got out of hand. The source said it was not connected to terrorism.

The police are trying to figure out why it happened and collecting evidence. They want anyone who saw anything or knows anything to talk to the police.

    A city is very sad.

Gunshots were heard while the city was having a party for the Kansas City Chiefs winning their second Super Bowl in a row. However, this less famous city in America missed out on its exciting and bringing together moment.

Kansas City’s mayor Quinton Lucas said he was at Union Station when he and others heard gunshots. He and his family started to run.

Mr Lucas said today we all went out in Kansas City to celebrate.

I went with my wife and I went with my mother. I never thought that today, Chiefs players, fans, and thousands of people would have to run for safety.

The Kansas City Chiefs said they are very sad about the violence on Wednesday. It also said that all its players, coaches, and staff, along with their families, were found and are safe.

Travis Kelce, who is a famous player on the team and known for his connection with Taylor Swift, posted on social media that he is very sad about the terrible event that happened today.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, a Chiefs player, also posted on social media after the sad event. He said he wanted to talk to the young people who were hurt in the shooting.

“I want to make sure they are doing alright,” Mr Valdes-Scantling said. “I want to help them in any way I can and get them some things from the team to help them recover. ”

The mayor said the city is safe and wants people to think carefully about what to do next. Even though there were many police officers there, he said this still happened because some people with guns were up to no good.

In a statement, US president Joe Biden talked about the problem of gun violence in the country.

“He said today’s events should make us do something about gun reform and banning assault rifles in the US. “

  • Crowds lined up to view nun’s non-decaying body four years after death

Crowds lined up to view nun’s non-decaying body four years after death

Four years after a nun’s death, visitors are pouring into a small Missouri town to view the nun’s body, which appears to be in perfect condition.

In Gower, approximately 40 miles north of Kansas City, Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster, 95, established the Benedictine Sisters of Mary, Queen of the Apostles.

According to the abbey, Lancaster’s body was exhumed in April so that it could be transferred to the chapel, where she will be laid to rest.

But the sisters opened the coffin to find her body completely intact, shocking the local community and drawing countless eyes to the quiet Midwestern town.

The sisters were baffled, to say the least, given that Lancaster was not embalmed after her death in May 2019 and was buried in a cracked wooden coffin.

Now between 10,000 to 15,000 Catholics were expected to flood Gower to see Lancaster’s body each day over Memorial Day weekend, Clinton County Sheriff Larry Fish said in a Facebook video on May 25.

‘We’re told to expect somewhere in the neighbourhood of about 10,000, maybe 15,000 people per day – Saturday, Sunday, Monday,’ Fish said.

The nun’s body was coated in a protective wax and placed inside a glass case yesterday so people can come and pray over her.

Worshippers have also been allowed to take a teaspoon of dirt from her grave.

Among those who travelled to see Lancaster was Samuel Dawson, a Catholic who visited from Kansas City with his son last week.

‘It was very peaceful. Just very reverent,’ he said, adding that he saw many out-of-state cars when he was there.

He added that the nuns ‘wanted to make her accessible to the public… because in real life, she was always accessible to people’.

Fish added that Gower, a town of just 1,500 people, isn’t built to cope with this amount of tourists.

Some are expected to travel as far as Canada and Mexico to see her in the months ahead.

Police have cleared land to make new parking spaces and created a mobile command centre to handle the crowds, FOX4 Kansas City reported.

Mother Cecilia, the abbess for the monastery, told the Catholic News Agency that she didn’t believe what she saw at first when she opened Lancaster’s coffin.

‘I thought I saw a completely full, intact foot and I said, “I didn’t just see that’. So I looked again more carefully,’ she said.

‘I see her foot!’ Cecilia then screamed, adding: ‘I mean there was just this sense that the Lord was doing this. Right now we need hope. We need it.

‘Our Lord knows that. And she was such a testament to hope. And faith. And trust.’

The nuns didn’t mean to make the news public but a private email about Lancaster’s body was leaked to the press, prompting a wave of worshippers.

Bishop Johnston, the Diocese of Kansas City-St Joseph, said that in Catholicism, bodies that do not decay are ‘incorrupt’, a sign of holiness that could lead to Lancaster being considered a saint.

‘There is a well-established process to pursue the cause for sainthood,’ Johnston said, ‘but that has not been initiated in this case yet.’

Rebecca George, an anthropology tutor at the Western Carolina University in North Carolina, said that a body not being reduced to bones in a few years isn’t exactly shocking.

‘With 100 years, there might be nothing left,’ she said, ‘but when you’ve got just a few years out, this is not unexpected.’

  • Black teen shot in the head after picking up siblings at the wrong house

Black teen shot in the head after picking up siblings at the wrong house

A black youngster in Missouri was fatally shot by a homeowner after he went to the wrong residence to pick up his younger brothers.

Ralph Yarl, 16, a high school student in Kansas City, was bringing his twin younger brothers back from a neighboring location on Thursday, April 13.

Yarl’s family claimed that when he went to pick up his siblings, he did not have his phone with him. He was going to pick up his brothers from a house on Northeast 115th Terrace, but by mistake he ended up at a house on Northeast 115th Street.

Just before 10.00pm, Yarl pulled into the driveway and rang the doorbell at the wrong address. After opening the door, the homeowner shot the teenager twice, hitting his head and arm.

The family of a 16-year-old boy shot twice in the head by a white man last week has labeled the act a hate crime after saying the teenager was just trying to pick up his younger siblings from a friend?s house. The boy, Ralph Yarl, ?mistakenly went to the wrong house? in a Kansas City neighborhood on Thursday, according to a GoFundMe set up by his aunt to handle medical expenses.

The teenager was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but is now expected to survive. ‘Despite the severity of his injuries and the seriousness of his condition, Ralph is alive and recovering,’ his family said in a statement.

The shooter, who has not yet been named, was taken into custody by police and detained for 24 hours. He was released the next day without any criminal charges filed against him.

The result lead to widespread public outcry over the weekend, which have included protests and demonstrations in the streets of Kansas City.

‘There can be no excuse for the release of this armed and dangerous suspect after admitting to shooting an unarmed, non-threatening and defenseless teenager that rang his doorbell!’ said civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is now representing Yarl and his family. ‘We demand swift action from Clay County prosecutors and law enforcement to identify, arrest and prosecute to the full extent of the law the man responsible for this horrendous and unjustifiable shooting.’

On Sunday, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and Police Chief Stacey Graves said that the case was still under investigation, after which the shooter may still face criminal charges. Investigators are currently waiting for Yarl to recover in order to get a statement from the victim.

‘The homeowner was released pending further investigation due to the need to obtain a formal statement from the victim, forensic evidence, and compile additional information for a case file to be presented,’ Graves said. ‘A person can be held up to 24 hours for investigation of a felony, at which time they are to be charged or released.’

The police chief said that investigators were working throughout the weekend to compile the necessary information to present the case to the local prosecutor’s office for charges.

‘We recognize the frustration this can cause in the entire criminal justice process,’ Graves said. ‘We want the community to know we are committed to justice, in this case and every case, and work every day to seek that justice for all victims of all crimes.’

She continued: ‘I want everyone to know that I am listening, and I understand the concern that we are receiving from the community.’

Graves also said that the case currently does not appear to be racially motivated, but that might change after further investigation.

‘The information that we have now – it does not say it is racially motivated. That’s still an active investigation. But as a chief of police, I do recognize the racial components of this case,’ Graves said. ‘I do recognize and understand the community’s concern and the community’s response.’

Meanwhile, Yarl’s family has started a GoFundMe to help cover his medical expenses. The fundraiser has raised over $800,000 as of Monday morning.

According to his family, Yarl is a high school junior and plans to attend Texas A&M University. He attended Missouri Scholar’s Academy, which recognizes 330 of the state’s top academic students.

He is also a gifted musician, and one of the top ranked bass clarinet players by the Missouri All-State Band.
