  • Celine Dion, Lady Gaga to duet at 2024 Olympics Opening ceremony

Celine Dion, Lady Gaga to duet at 2024 Olympics Opening ceremony

The 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony is set to make history with its unique location on the Seine River, departing from the traditional stadium setting.

Adding to the excitement, Céline Dion will perform for the first time since her diagnosis with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022, accompanied by the renowned Lady Gaga.

Speculation about the artists’ involvement began earlier this week when both Celine Dion and Gaga were spotted in Paris ahead of the Summer Games. Social media buzzed with videos of Gaga waving to fans from her car, fueling the rumors.

According to a report by Variety on July 23, Celine Dion arrived in Paris on Monday, staying at the Royal Monceau Hotel near the Champs-Élysées, the same location as Gaga.

On July 25, French journalist Thierry Moreau announced on X that the duo had rehearsed a duet of “La Vie en Rose” by Édith Piaf, which was later confirmed by TMZ.

“La Vie en Rose,” meaning “Life in Pink,” was originally performed by the legendary French singer Édith Piaf. The song, written in 1945 and released in 1947, became an international sensation.

Over the years, it has been covered by numerous artists, including Andrea Bocelli, Audrey Hepburn, Bing Crosby, Carla Bruni, Dalida, Dean Martin, and Diana Krall.

Lady Gaga is familiar with the iconic French ballad, having performed “La Vie en Rose” in the 2018 film A Star Is Born. The movie’s success earned her a historic achievement, making her the first woman to win an Academy Award, Grammy Award, BAFTA Award, and Golden Globe Award in a single year.

  • ‘I’m working as fast as I can’ – Lady Gaga assures fans of releasing an album soon

‘I’m working as fast as I can’ – Lady Gaga assures fans of releasing an album soon

Lady Gaga, in a chat with YouTuber NikkieTutorials on Tuesday, assured her devoted fans, affectionately known as Little Monsters, that she is diligently working to complete her highly anticipated seventh studio album.

“I will say that I am feeling deeply inspired right now and I’m so excited for everything that I have to show all the fans,” Gaga said in a clip from the interview posted to social media. “I’m deeply grateful for everybody’s excitement in my creativity.”

With details about the sound of her upcoming music remaining scarce, the Oscar and Grammy winner revealed on her Instagram page in February that her new album wouldn’t be a rock album.

In recent months, she has teased fans with glimpses into her creative process, sharing photos of herself in the recording studio, playing the piano, and even divulging that she’s “writing lyrics in bed.”

It’s been four years since Gaga’s last studio album, “Chromatica,” a dance-centric record released in 2020.

In the interim – and to give credit where it’s due – the multi-talented star has kept herself occupied.

Gaga has been diligently filming the highly anticipated “Joker” sequel titled “Joker: Folie à Deux,” which concluded production in April last year and is set for release in October.

In this musical sequel, Gaga takes on the role of Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix, reprising his iconic portrayal of the Joker. Phoenix’s portrayal earned him a Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of the complex DC villain in 2020.

In addition to her responsibilities with her beauty label Haus Labs, Gaga will also be returning to Las Vegas for her acclaimed “Jazz & Piano” residency at Park MGM’s Dolby Live. The residency will run for eight days in June and July, delighting fans with her captivating performances.

  • Lady Gaga’s dog shooter given a 21-year prison sentence

A man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for shooting and injuring Lady Gaga’s dog walker during a dog theft.

James Howard Jackson entered a no contest plea, which is similar to a guilty plea, to attempted murder.

According to the court, Ryan Fischer was walking the singer’s three French bulldogs in Hollywood in February 2021 when Jackson shot him in the chest.

Mr Fischer stated that following the attack, he had to have a portion of his lung removed.

According to CBS News, he attended Monday’s court hearing and stated that the shooting changed his life forever.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office called the attack “a cold-hearted violent act”.

Several other charges Jackson faced were dismissed as part of a plea deal.

Jackson and one of four other accomplices took two of the dogs, Koji and Gustav, following the shooting.

A third bulldog, Miss Asia, ran away and was later found by police.

At the time, police said that they thought the dogs were targeted because of their breed – and not because of who their owner was.

The two stolen dogs were returned unharmed two days later after Gaga offered a $500,000 (£359,000) reward.

One accomplice, Harold White, pleaded guilty on Monday to breaking the law that prevents former convicts from possessing firearms. He is due to be sentenced next year.

White’s son, Jaylin Keyshawn White, and Lafayette Shon Whaley both pleaded guilty last year to second-degree robbery and were sentenced to four and six years in prison respectively.

The person who returned the dogs, Jennifer McBride, was later charged with being an accessory to attempted murder and her case remains pending, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Jackson’s day in court was delayed after he was wrongly released from prison in April in what the US Marshals Service described at the time as a “clerical error”. He was re-arrested the same month.

  • Lady Gaga delivers tearful message after lightning halts Miami show

Lady Gaga had only six songs remaining when she was forced to abruptly end her performance in Miami on Saturday night due to inclement weather, according to People.

Before leaving the stage, Gaga explained that the decision to suspend the remainder of her set was out of abundance of caution for the concertgoers, as well as everyone on her team.

TMZ reports lightning in the area was what ultimately convinced Gaga to cut her show at Miami Hard Rock Stadium short, an unfortunate conclusion on the final stop of The Chromatica Ball Summer Stadium Tour.

A tearful Gaga posted a video message on Instagram where she apologized for halting the show while also opening up about the regret she would have carried, if she chose to push through to the end. “I’ve always wanted to be like that hardcore, bad bitch, but what I really want is to also be responsible and loving and I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to anybody in the audience or to any member of my crew, my band, my dancers,” she said.

  • Lady Gaga forced to stop show amid lightning storm

Lady Gaga was forced to halt the final show of her Chromatica Ball tour in Florida after a fierce storm descended.

The star was approaching the end of her show when lightning started to strike around Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

“We just got to stop the show for a minute,” she told the 65,000 fans at the show, advising them to “really calmly move to the inside area”.

Although she had hoped the storm would pass, the concert ultimately had to be called off.

The star later posted a tearful apology to fans on her Instagram account.

“We really tried to finish the show tonight in Miami but we couldn’t because even when the rain stopped there was lightning striking right down to the ground so close to us,” she said, still wearing her stage outfit, and wiping rain from her face.

“I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to anybody in the audience or to any member of my crew.”

The singer then picked up a bouquet of roses that a fan had tossed onto the stage and said she would “cherish them forever”.

The Hard Rock Stadium is home to American football team Miami Dolphins and only has a partial roof.

Before the show was cancelled, fans gathered under the sheltered portion of the venue and sang Gaga’s hit Rain On Me – punctuated by terrifying claps of thunder.

Although they later made their way back to their seats, organisers decided it was unsafe for the concert to go ahead.

Gaga, who had about six songs left to perform, took to the stage to announce the cancellation, saying: “I don’t want to put your life in danger”.

“Get home safely, God bless you and thank you for coming to the show,” she said, before taking a final bow.

Fans who attended the show said Gaga was “clearly upset” by the cancellation.

“It was surreal and really sad when she came out and told us to go home,” wrote one on Reddit. “You could tell how heartbroken she was.”

The Hard Rock stadium posted a statement on Twitter, reading: “Tonight’s Lady Gaga show couldn’t continue after a show pause at 10:50 pm in the interest of fan safety due to inclement weather that included lighting. Thank you for your understanding.”

The Chromatica Ball tour began in Dusseldorf, Germany, in July before visiting Sweden, France, the Netherlands, the UK, Japan and North America.

With a setlist including Bad Romance, Poker Face, Born This Way, Edge Of Glory and Stupid Love, the show has won rave reviews for its combination of dramatic set-pieces and a running narrative about surviving trauma.

The Guardian called it a “hit-stacked show that also creates an intimate human connection”; while Rolling Stone magazine said it served as “a reminder that she’s one of the greatest living musical performers”.

The tour was confined to just 20 shows, with several rest days between concerts to help Gaga cope with the medical condition fibromyalgia.

The condition often leaves her in chronic pain, and resulted in the cancellation of the last 10 dates of her previous world tour in 2018.

“It took so much in my heart to get back to a place where I could perform and be healthy,” she said on Instagram after the Miami concert.

“Part of why I decided not to finish the show was because I am healthy. It’s a healthy decision for all of you and for myself as well. So I love you… and I’ll see you next time on stage.”

  • Hackers hit A-list law firm of Lady Gaga, Drake and Madonna

A law firm used by A-list stars including Rod Stewart, Lil Nas X and Robert De Niro has been hacked.

The website for Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks is down and hackers claim to have 756 gigabytes of data including contracts and personal emails.

A screenshot allegedly of a Madonna contract has been released, and the criminals are demanding payment.

The New York law firm says it has notified its clients and is working with cyber-security experts.

It’s not known what sum the hackers are demanding and whether the law firm is negotiating with them.

The law firm said in a press statement: “We can confirm that we’ve been victimised by a cyber-attack. We have notified our clients and our staff. We have hired the world’s experts who specialise in this area, and we are working around the clock to address these matters.”

The company’s website is displaying just a logo but historic records of the site show a client list of more than 200 high profile people and companies.

Musicians include Sir Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, Lady Gaga, Lil Nas X, The Weeknd, Madonna, U2 and Drake.

Other clients named are Andrew Lloyd Webber, Priyanka Chopra, Robert De Niro, Sofia Vergara, Activision, Inc, Sony Corp, LeBron James and Mike Tyson.

The hackers known as REvil or Sodinokibi previously attacked foreign exchange company Travelex with ransomware in January.

Ransomware is one of the biggest problems in cyber-security and is a malicious type of software that encrypts data until a ransom is paid, usually in untraceable crypto-currency Bitcoin.

Cyber-security company Emsisoft says the hackers have posted images online of a contract for Madonna’s World Tour 2019-20 complete with signatures from an employee and concert company Live Nation.

Hackers have also uploaded an image they claim shows the stolen data directory with folders named under certain clients. Posting a sample of stolen data is often done as a way to prove a hack has happened and put pressure on a victim to pay a ransom.

“Companies in this position have no good options available to them,” Brett Callow, threat analyst at Emsisoft said. “Non-payment of the demand will result in the information being published; payment will simply get them a pinky promise from criminals that the stolen data will be deleted.

“These incidents are becoming increasingly commonplace and increasingly concerning. And incidents involving law firms are even more concerning due to the sensitivity of the data they hold.”

The law firm and some of the celebrities have been approached for further comment.

  • Lady Gaga tells Oprah the Bradley Cooper dating rumors were ‘silly’

Lady Gaga’s memorable performance with Bradley Cooper at the Academy Awards was just that, a performance.

Oprah Winfrey interviewed Gaga for the new issue of Elle magazine, and asked about the romance speculation that followed the intimate duet between the “A Star is Born” co-stars.

“Quite frankly, I think the press is very silly,” Gaga said. “I mean, we made a love story. For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course we wanted people to believe that we were in love. And we wanted people to feel that love at the Oscars. We wanted it to go right through the lens of that camera and to every television that it was being watched on. And we worked hard on it, we worked for days. We mapped the whole thing out — it was orchestrated as a performance.”

Gaga, who won an Oscar for best original song for “Shallow,” had previously told Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night show, “People saw love and, guess what, that’s what we wanted to you to see. This is a love song.”

In her interview with Winfrey, Gaga also said that it took a “long time” to shake her “A Star is Born” character, Ally, because of the parallels to her real life.

“I had to relive a lot of my career doing that role,” Gaga explained. “I don’t know how you feel when you’ve acted, but for me, I don’t view it as filming a movie. I film it as living the character, and it’s a moment in my life, so I relived it all again, and it took a long time for it to go away.”
