Six German vacationers are in custody in Spain on charges of raping an 18-year-old lady on the island of Mallorca.

Five of the suspects were apprehended within a short period of time, and a sixth was captured later that day after escaping the crime site, according to the police.

The men, all aged 20 or 21, are being held at police facilities and are expected before a judge on Saturday.

The complainant, also a German holidaymaker, told police she and a group of friends visited the Playa de Palma boulevard, popular with compatriots, where she met one of the suspects.

She said she went back to his hotel room, where the other five were drinking.

The woman eventually managed to flee the room and alerted the receptionist, who called the police.

Gang rape is considered an aggravating factor that can carry sentences of up to 15 years of prison in Spain.

Several cases in recent years have shocked the country.

  • Lumor among 20 players in Mallorca due for contract extension

The Coronavirus pandemic has affected the football calendar immensely and thus players on loan at various clubs may see their contracts end without completing the season.

Spanish club Mallorca will be hardly hit during this period as they are set to lose 20 players.

Most of these players will see their contract end on June 30.

Ghanaian International Lumor Agbenyenu is among the 20 players whose loan deal will end in May should the league not have bounced back by then.

Lumor joined Mallorca on loan from Portuguese side Sporting CP and has made 20 appearances for the club this season in the La Liga.

With football suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak in Spain, the La Liga season may be extended which could affect players whose contract runs out by June 30.

Mallorca may consider offering these 20 players a contract extension in order to complete the season.

According to reports FIFA is also considering a special dispensation in the area of transfers amid the coronavirus outbreak in order to ensure players are able to finish their contracts when the season resumes.

  • Lumor Agbenyenu set to extend loan deal at Spanish side Mallorca

Ghana defender Lumor Agbenyenu is expected to re-join Spanish side RCD Mallorca for a second loan spell.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola is reporting that the 23-year-old will be sent on another loan expedition from Sporting CP.

The left-back is being deemed surplus to requirement with Sporting CP coach Rúben Amorim revealing the Ghanaian will not get a place in his team.

The idea is to send him on loan to RCD Mallorca for the second time after joining the side last year.

He struggled with recurrent injuries which curtailed his appearances before the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Lumor joined Sporting CP in the winter of 2018 for 2.5 million euros from Portimonense.

He never asserted himself at the club having played just nine games for the Lions before being loaned to Goztepe and Mallorca.

He has a contract with Sporting CP until 2022.
