Wives who demand payment before sex can be sued or divorced – Maurice Ampaw

Private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw Legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has issued a stern warning to married women who demand financial compensation or gifts from their husbands in exchange for intimacy, stating that such actions could lead to legal consequences, including divorce.

According to Ampaw, the foundation of marriage includes the right to sexual satisfaction for both partners, making it unreasonable for a wife to withhold intimacy unless her demands are met.

“In marriage, the first right is that couples have the right to sexual satisfaction. So, your man has the right to have access to your body, and the woman has the right… So, you don’t deny your man sex. It is unreasonable if you fail to provide free sex,” he asserted.

Expressing concern over what he described as a growing trend among married women, Ampaw accused social media of influencing wives to commercialize sex within marriage. He noted that some women now set conditions, such as receiving luxury items, before engaging in intimacy with their husbands.

“These days, our married women are using social media to commercialize sex. They will ask for an iPhone, and if you are not able to provide it, they won’t give you sex,” he lamented.

Ampaw further emphasized that while the law dictates the boundaries of sexual activity, it does not regulate how intimacy should be conducted within marriage.

“The law only regulates where to penetrate, but how to go about it is a free area. I can tell you that a lot of men are paying for sex, and women have made it a condition because social media is making our wives think they are not sex machines… and it is illegal for our wives to make demands before sex,” he stated.

He advised men who find themselves in such situations to take legal action, insisting that husbands have the right to sue or file for divorce if their wives persist in making financial demands before engaging in intimacy.

“Men have the right to take them to court and seek divorce,” Ampaw declared.

Maurice Ampaw also claimed that oral sex is illegal under the law.

He further urged President John Dramani Mahama to approve the anti-LGBTQ bill so individuals who violate the law can be punished.

“The law states that sex is about a man penetrating, so oral sex is illegal in Ghana. Those who are licking and sucking are pure criminals,” he stated.

To buttress his point, he stated an instance, “The wife of a man of God demanded a divorce, but she was not open until we went before the court, and we got to know that the man had refused to have legal sex and had been giving her oral sex, which the woman didn’t like. However, the man had been insisting on it for the past seven years…”

Legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw recently disclosed that he has seven children from different women.

He has two sets of twins and three other children from separate relationships.

Ampaw’s first wife passed away on February 18, 2021, and he remarried in 2022.

During an interview on The Delay Show, he explained that his extramarital affairs while his wife was alive resulted in the birth of three children.

Ampaw asserted that his ability to father children with multiple women demonstrates his versatility and responsibility.

After his wife’s death, he realized his children needed motherly care, as they were neglected by the extended family.

He decided to marry Celestina, who had been a friend for over seven years, because she provided the necessary affection to his twins.

He confidently addressed criticisms of his actions, stating that he had good intentions for every woman he had children with and did not consider his behavior reckless.

Ampaw emphasized that his marriage to Celestina was not solely for his children’s sake but also because of his admiration for her.

He added that his bond with Celestina, who took care of him during his visits to Kumasi, made the decision to marry her after his wife’s death easier.

Legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw recently disclosed details about his family life in an interview on The Delay Show. He revealed that he has seven children from multiple relationships, including two sets of twins with different women and three other children with separate partners.

Ampaw shared that following the passing of his wife in February 2021 and his subsequent remarriage in 2022 to Celestina, he felt his twins needed maternal care due to neglect from extended family.

This situation, he explained, influenced his decision to marry Celestina, whom he had known for over seven years and who had been supportive during his visits to Kumasi.

“When my wife died, I realized my children needed motherly love because the extended family had rejected them. I told Celestina that my children (twins) needed a mother, so if she took care of them well, they would bless her with twins. She took care of them, and now she has twins – two girls. So, I have two sets of twins and others,” he said, prompting an exclamation from show host Deloris Frimpong Manso (Delay).

“Oh yes, I have children with different women,” Ampaw proudly stated. “I have children with about three women. I’m versatile and honest with myself. These three others came before Celestina’s twins but after my twins with my late wife. I was having affairs with women when my wife was alive. We had children, and that’s it.”

Despite acknowledging his relationships with various women and the children born from these unions, Ampaw emphasized that his actions were driven by a sense of responsibility rather than recklessness. He asserted that he had good intentions toward each woman with whom he fathered children.

Overall, Ampaw clarified that while his children’s needs accelerated his decision to marry Celestina, his admiration for her and their longstanding friendship played significant roles in their union.

“Celestina was my friend,” he said. “We had been friends for more than seven years, and she had been taking care of me whenever I went to Kumasi. She lived in Offinso. My wife never knew about us. My friend cared for me for seven years; we spent time together, ate together, and made love once in a while.”

Legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has openly shared details about his family life, revealing that he has seven children from multiple relationships. He disclosed having two sets of twins with different women and three additional children with three other women.

Following the passing of his wife in 2021 and his subsequent remarriage in 2022, Ampaw explained that he had relationships outside of his marriage which resulted in the birth of these children.

In an interview on The Delay Show, Ampaw emphasized that his decision to remarry was influenced by the need for his children, especially the twins left behind by his late wife, to have maternal care.

He credited his current wife, Celestina, for stepping into this role admirably, noting that her support and care for his children were significant factors in their marriage.

Ampaw dismissed criticisms of recklessness, asserting that he acted responsibly and with good intentions towards all the women involved.

He also clarified that his relationship with Celestina predated his wife’s passing and was built on a longstanding friendship and mutual support over many years.

Ampaw described their bond and shared experiences in Kumasi, where Celestina resided, which ultimately led to their decision to marry after his wife’s death.

Throughout the interview, Ampaw spoke candidly about his family dynamics and personal choices, highlighting what he viewed as his commitment to his children and the significant role Celestina now plays in their lives.

“When my wife died, I realized my children needed motherly love because the extended family had rejected them. I told Celestina that my children (twins) needed a mother, so if she took care of them well, they would bless her with twins. She took care of them, and now she has twins – two girls. These three others came before Celestina’s twins but after my twins with my late wife. I was having affairs with women when my wife was alive. We had children, and that’s it.”

He rejected the claim that he is being reckless, saying: “I’m not reckless; I’m being responsible. I had good intentions for every woman I had a baby with.”

I wanted to prove myself to him – Maurice Ampaw on legal battles with Asamoah Gyan

Legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has shed light on his ongoing legal conflicts with Ghanaian football star Asamoah Gyan.

Ampaw has often been at odds with Gyan on various matters, most notably the alleged rape of Sarah Kwablah.

Sarah Kwablah, a former University of Ghana student, accused Asamoah Gyan of rape and sodomy in 2015.

Additionally, Ampaw served as the lead counsel for Ghanaian journalist Osarfo Anthony in a malicious prosecution case.

These legal disputes persisted for six years until the court finally resolved them.

Ampaw explained that his involvement in issues related to Asamoah Gyan was not driven by personal animosity. Instead, he wanted to disprove Gyan’s dismissal of him as a mere social media lawyer.

“I don’t have any personal issue with Asamoah Gyan,” Ampaw stated.

“I just want to prove him wrong because he dared me. He was discrediting me, claiming I was just a social media lawyer and not among the top lawyers in Ghana.

“So I wanted to show him that I am indeed one of the top lawyers in the country,” Maurice Ampaw shared during an appearance on The Delay Show in July 2024.

Lawyer Ampaw emphasized that his legal battles with Asamoah Gyan played a significant role in establishing him as a high-profile lawyer, especially since many of his colleagues avoided taking on such controversial cases.

“The work I do in this country, no lawyer born of a woman can match it. I handle cases that others shy away from,” he stressed.

My weakness for women was used by the devil to attack my pastoral calling – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw

Ghanaian legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has revealed that he might have become a pastor if not for the influence of women, which he believes the devil used against him.

In an interview on the Delay Show, Ampaw shared that he felt called and anointed to be a man of God, a path his mother deeply wished he had pursued.

“I am a covenant child, the only thing my mum is highly disappointed about me is the fact that I didn’t become a pastor. The calling and anointing are there. I realized that the devil used women to attack my calling. That is the weapon used to attack me. It is my little weakness; if I was loose, it would have been too much,” he explained.

During the interview, Maurice Ampaw also declared himself one of the most formidable lawyers in the country, boasting an impressive track record of winning over 300 cases.

“I am one of the strongest lawyers in this country. The things I have accomplished here, no lawyer born of a woman can match. The fights I take on are the ones others shy away from. I have also made a mark on social media. I have won over 300 cases, including human rights cases for clients like Chairman Wontumi, Sarah Koblah and among others,” Ampaw shared.

Legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has issued a warning that he will pursue legal action against celebrity couple Medikal and Fella Makafui if they continue to publicize their marital issues.

In an interview on Onua TV, Ampaw expressed his concern about the couple’s influence on the youth, emphasizing that personal matters should be kept private to safeguard their young followers.

“If they release any arsenal about their marriage, I’ll take them to court. For these two, I’ll change the dynamics.

“They are two mature adults who chose to get married and they keep releasing information that defiles our children. These matters are supposed to be confidential, away from our young children who are not married yet. They can’t be allowed to be exposed to such content.” he said.

Ampaw also criticized Fella Makafui’s response to Medikal’s previous disclosures.

He asserted that she should have promptly taken legal action against him for violating confidentiality.

Ampaw highlighted the absence of legal counsel in Fella’s camp and advised filing a lawsuit along with an injunction to stop further public discussion of their marriage.

“Fella’s management and team lack legal advice. The best course of action would have been to drag him to court and sue him for breach of confidence as soon as Medikal started talking,” Ampaw advised.

Recognizing that obstacles exist in every relationship, Ampaw counseled the couple to continue cautiously while they decide what to do next.

Legal expert Maurice Ampaw has announced his plans to take legal action against celebrity couple Medikal and Fella Makafui if either of them publicly discusses private details about their marriage again.

Ampaw emphasized the couple’s significant influence on younger audiences, stating that they should not expose them to sensitive marital content that could negatively impact their lives.

Speaking on Yen Nsempa with Nana Yaa Brefo and Isaac Ekow JB, Ampaw stated, “If they release any arsenal about their marriage, I’ll take them to court. For these two, I’ll change the dynamics.

“They are two mature adults who chose to get married and they keep releasing information that defiles our children. These matters are supposed to be confidential, away from our young children who are not married yet. They can’t be allowed to be exposed to such content.”

He criticized Fella Makafui‘s response to Medikal’s previous actions, suggesting that she should have immediately sued him for breach of confidence.

“Fella’s management and team lack legal advice. The best course of action would have been to drag him to court and sue him for breach of confidence as soon as Medikal started talking,” Ampaw advised. “With an added injunction to restrain him from talking about their marriage.”

Ampaw highlighted the importance of legal advice in such situations and recommended taking swift legal action to prevent further disclosures.

While acknowledging that every relationship has its challenges, Ampaw advised both parties to be cautious in their future actions regarding their marriage.

Seek counselling- Maurice Ampaw tells Medikal

Renowned lawyer Maurice Ampaw has advised Ghanaian musician Medikal to seek psychiatric counselling amidst the ongoing marital discord with his wife, actress Fella Makafui.

Ampaw’s counsel follows Medikal’s public discussions regarding his marital issues, a trend the lawyer deems detrimental and unsuitable.

During an interview on Wontumi TV on May 22, 2024, Ampaw expressed his apprehension regarding Medikal’s approach to handling his personal life on social media platforms.

“We have a matrimonial secret. Whatever happens between spouses, in the event of a divorce, should remain private,” Ampaw asserted.

He highlighted Medikal’s departure from this standard, stating, “So why is Medikal airing his grievances on social media? Medikal, what’s going on?”

Ampaw further expressed disappointment, noting his prior admiration for Medikal but now observing behavior that suggests the rapper is struggling with the situation.

“I used to commend you, but it appears you’re overwhelmed by heartbreak,” Ampaw remarked.

“I believe Medikal requires serious psychiatric counselling because heartbreak manifests in various ways, and his situation is prompting him to speak out,” he concluded.

Cyber Crime Unit should have arrested Serwaa Amihere by now – Maurice Ampaw

Renowned lawyer Maurice Ampaw has called on the Cyber Crime Unit to investigate television presenter, Serwaa Amihere over her recent leaked nude video.

Mr Ampaw contends that Serwaa Amihere should face legal repercussions for allegedly filming herself in the nude, labeling it a breach of cyber laws.

The lawyer expressed bewilderment over the incident, questioning how someone in Serwaa’s position could allow themselves to be recorded in such a compromising manner.

He emphasized the need for accountability, asserting that individuals who engage in such behavior should not evade responsibility.

Mr Ampaw further criticized her public image, accusing her of misrepresenting her success and financial status.

He alleged that she falsely portrays herself as a self-made individual while she implores her  wealth through less honorable means.

“Serwaa Amihere should have been apprehended by the Cyber Crime Unit by now. How could she film herself nude? She should be held accountable for permitting such actions. Despite portraying herself as a motivational speaker, influencer, and brand ambassador, she deceives people into believing she attained wealth through hard work, which is untrue. If she wishes to engage in prostitution, she should do so openly instead of using other pursuits as a guise,” he added.

Last week, a video depicting Serwaa Amihere and Henry Fitz in an intimate setting circulated online, sparking widespread criticism. While many blamed Serwaa for the leaked video, Henry Fitz denied any involvement in its dissemination, countering allegations made by certain media outlets.

The current case before the court involves Serwaa Amihere as the complainant, a media personality residing in Tse Addo, Accra. The accused parties include filmmaker Edem Saviour Ketti and trader Candylove Kwakyewaa Ababio, who reside in Adjiringanor and Achimota Kingsby, respectively. Henry Amponsah, also known as Henry Fitz, is currently at large.

The case stems from incidents in December 2023 when the complainant’s makeup artist received extortion demands for GHC5,000, allegedly in exchange for nude images of Serwaa. Subsequent demands for GHC20,000 were made under threat of posting the images online, leading to the arrest of one of the accused individuals, Edem Saviour Ketti, in April 2024. Investigations revealed his involvement in registering the mobile money account used for extortion.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Henry Amponsah, aka Henry Fitz, to face legal proceedings.

Opambour told my girlfriend I have HIV/AIDS because he wanted her – Maurice Ampaw

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has shed light on the origins of his feud with founder of Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, widely known as Opambour.

According to Mr Ampaw, the conflict arose when Opambour allegedly used supernatural means to lure away his girlfriend, who sought healing for her father at Opambour’s church.

Mr Ampaw claimed that Opambour falsely informed his girlfriend that Mr Ampaw had been infected with HIV/AIDS, tarnishing his image and causing the girlfriend to reject him sexually.

“There was a time when my girlfriend’s father was seriously ill, so she went to Opambour’s church for healing. She slept at his place for four days and wasn’t answering my calls. I was disturbed, so when she finally came to my place, I attempted to have sexual intercourse with her, but she denied me.

“She gave an excuse that there was a prophecy about me, so I had to go for deliverance from Opambour before we could continue the relationship. When I asked her to explain, she indicated that Opambour said that her boyfriend is a womanizer and has been infected with HIV/AIDS too,” he narrated while speaking in an interview with RTV.

“So, when I realised Opambour was interested in her, we broke up the relationship,” he added.

During a recent church service, Opambour took the opportunity to question the rationality of Maurice Ampaw and those who stood against him.

The pastor expressed his disapproval of Ampaw labeling him as a “comedian” and someone lacking the divine anointing of God.

“Is the person okay? Is he senseless? What nonsense is this? I crack jokes during my service so that people can have relief from the stress of this life. I am done doing that; they are going to see real fire from henceforth. Tell them,” Opambour earlier charged.

Grace Boadu’s family fought against her when she was alive – Maurice Ampaw

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has asserted that the late founder of Gracegift Herbal Clinic, Grace Boadu, faced familial challenges and was not embraced by her family.

According to him, internal conflicts arose because Dr. Boadu did not provide assistance to any of her relatives.

The deceased according to him, faced both spiritual and physical opposition from her family.

He further revealed that, owing to the actions of certain family members, Grace’s mother intervened to prevent her from maintaining contact with them.

During an interview on Kasapa FM, he claimed that not supporting her family posed a challenge for her, as she did not receive the expected familial backing.

Lawyer Ampaw also alleged that Dr Boadu’s family obstructed her romantic endeavors, discouraging potential suitors due to suspicions of financial motives.

“Her family doesn’t support her, her family arose against her because they thought it was right for her to help them. Her mother was protecting her over the family. No uncles or aunties came close to her to the extent that I spoke to them. They prevented her suitors from marrying her because they said those individuals were in for her money,” he added.

Lawyer for the fiancé of the late Dr Grace Boadu, CEO of Gift Herbal Hospital, Maurice Ampaw, has shared information on how the deceased’s family tormented his client during his romantic relations with Dr Boadu.

On Kasapa FM, Maurice Ampaw indicated that his client, Pastor Kingsley Gyamfi, was among the many suitors the family of Dr Boadu disapproved of due to her affluence.

He indicated that the family successfully drove away any man who showed interest in their daughter and went to the extreme by having Pastor Gyamfi arrested.

Mr Ampaw noted that the family demanded his arrest when Dr Boadu almost experienced a mental breakdown after taking an injection at Kotoka International Airport.

“There was this instance they got to the airport in Accra and Grace was in severe pain. She usually suffers this pain and there is this injection she usually administers to herself to kill it. But it is mostly prescribed. So that medicine was not available and the pain intensified.

“She started rolling on the floor and Kingsley had to order for the medicine from Kumasi with chartered flight to Accra. She injected the drug herself and for a moment she got relieved. Then suddenly she started acting mad. So, they had to forcefully grab her, took her to the hospital to stabilize the pain. So, the family latter arranged for her fiancé to be arrested because they held him accountable for whatever had happened to grace. That is where I took over the case from,” he established.

According to Mr Ampaw, Dr. Grace Boadu was likely misusing pethidine injection.

Dr Boadu died on January 29, 2024, after it was alleged she slipped in her bathroom and hit her head on the ground. She died at her residence at Tantra Hills in Accra.

In a recent interview, Dr. Maurice Ampaw, who served as a lawyer for the pastor boyfriend of the late Dr. Boadu, disclosed that she was abusing a particular drug administered through injections.

When someone asked to explain what kind of drug it was, the person wrote: “It’s more like cocaine in its refined form … most health practitioners abuse it because of its work on the central nervous system.

Captain Smart wants me dead – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw

Legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has accused radio host Captain Smart, of wanting him dead.

During an interview on Kasapa FM, he claimed that Captain Smart bears such intense animosity towards him, leading to a desire for his demise.

Drawing on a past incident involving the death of a Ghanaian lawyer Anthony Akoto Ampaw, Mr Ampaw disclosed that during that period, some people had wished for his own demise.

Lawyer Ampaw, who claims to possess spiritual insight, attributed Captain Smart’s hostility to an inability to handle the truth, suggesting that the media personality is influenced by demonic forces.

“What have I done that when I ask for forgiveness will not be granted. Those protesting that I am dealt with are a lot. I have seen that when you hate someone they wish you are dead. When Akoto Apaw died some people were wishing it was me. Captain Smart ,Afrifa, Kelvin Taylor and others want me dead.

“Captain Smart doesn’t like it because he can’t handle the truth. He is possessed by a lot of demons that speak through him. I know that because I can see spiritually. That is why he doesn’t respect me. Captain Smart is pushing that the chiefs deal with me, meanwhile he has been disrespectful to Otumfuor, the police and others,” he added.

He stated that Captain Smart is pushing so hard that the Kumasi chiefs deal with him drastically.

According to him, the one who needs to be dealt with by the law is Captain Smart, because he has shown gross disrespect at Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Ghana police and other dignitaries.

The Divisional Heads of the Kumasi Traditional Council recently expressed their displeasure regarding the alleged use of two Kumasi-based radio stations owned by Chairman Wontumi by Maurice Ampaw to criticize chiefs in the Ashanti region.

Both individuals were summoned to appear before the Council on Monday, January 29, 2024.

“I am using this platform to tell Nananom (chiefs) that if my utterances were extreme and they see it as very offensive, I retract and apologize.

“I believe that let Asanteman move on, there is so much to do in the Ashanti Region and there is so much at stake in this political area and my love for Bawumia and NPP still stands.
“It is my prayer that we all support Chairman Wontumi to bring victory to the party and also support Otumfuo to bring development to the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole,” he said in an interview on Asempa FM.

Mr. Ampaw recalled an incident where he felt referenced in a derogatory manner by one of the Chiefs.

During an interview on Kasapa FM on Thursday, January 25, Mr. Ampaw emphasized that he will not take such comments lightly and is contemplating pursuing a class action lawsuit.

Meanwhile, Mr Ampaw has issued an apology to the Chiefs of the Ashanti region, retracting one of his earlier statements he deemed extreme.

Maurice Ampaw snubs Kumasi Traditional Council

Lawyer and TV show host of ‘Mmra Ne Abrabo Mu Nsem’ on Wontumi TV, Maurice Ampaw, has ignored the summons of the Kumasi Traditional Council, following his ‘disrespectful’ comments about the head of the Ashanti Kingdom, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

A few days after reports of Chairman Wontumi’s derogatory remarks about Otumfuo surfaced, Maurice Ampaw was reported to have slammed the Ashanti overload for his alleged meddling in the affairs of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, the Asantehene was not above the laws of the country.

These comments didn’t sit well with the traditional leaders of the Ashanti kingdom; hence, during a visit to Manhyia on January 23, 2024, by a delegation led by the NPP’s general secretary, Justin Koduah, the elders demanded the presence of both Chairman Wontumi, Maurice Ampaw and the entire management of the Wontumi Media.

“When you come to Asanteman, we have only one head, and that is the Asantehene, so if you disrespect him, we wouldn’t let you go scot-free. So advise your members, ministers and all others to watch themselves when it comes to Asanteman.

So, General Secretary, go and advise Wontumi, at the latest by Monday, that no matter what, he should appear before us here, and when he is coming, he should come with Maurice Ampaw and the entire management of Wontumi.

And also, they should come and explain why Maurice Ampaw is just slamming the Asantehene and his entourage and why Wontumi’s media house has given him that platform to say all the things he says on his show,” one of the elders told the NPP delegates.

Wontumi honoured the invitation after his recovery from his reported illness today, January 29, 2024 but Maurice Ampaw was missing.

Ahead of Wontumi’s appearance before the Traditional Council , the lawyer and TV host mentioned that he will not honour the invitation of the elders, saying that he felt insulted and prejudged by some of the chiefs; hence, he will not step a foot at the Manhyia Palace.

Also, he believes he said nothing disrespectful or disrespected Otumfuo in any way but only expressed his opinion as a citizen.

Maurice Ampaw drops bombshell about one Ashanti chief

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has accused one Ashanti chief of making advances towards his wife.Narrating his ordeal, he claimed there was a time when the said chief who hails from the Ashanti region attempted to take away his wife under controversial circumstances.

He further disclosed that he got upset over the matter and issued a stern warning to the chief to stay away from his wife or risk being exposed publicly.During an interview, Maurice Ampaw stated that he would petition Otumfuo to deal with the chief in question because his action tarnishes the image of the Ashanti kingdom.

“Some Asante chiefs are womanizers. I am saying this because I have confronted one Ashanti chief who wanted to snatch my wife. Afterwards, I warned him to stay away from my wife otherwise I would expose him to the public and it became an issue.”

Because of this issue, I will petition Asantehene when he returns to the country because he is the only person I can trust. I will present him the evidence and my wife is willing to testify,” he said.

Maurice Ampaw has come under scrutiny in recent times when he made derogatory remarks about Chiefs in the Ashanti region following their feud with Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

After he was summoned by the chiefs to answer questions concerning his remarks, Maurice Ampaw publicly claimed that he would not show up because he had already been judged.

It remains to be seen whether Maurice Ampaw will show up or not.

  • Wontumi has a lot of ‘secret’ business deals with Manhyia – Maurice Ampaw

Wontumi has a lot of ‘secret’ business deals with Manhyia – Maurice Ampaw

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has disclosed that Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has several undisclosed business dealings with the Asantehene that some Ashanti Chiefs are not aware of.

He made this revelation after the Kumasi Traditional Council, demanded his presence and that of Chairman Wontumi following reports of the latter challenging the authority of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during a party event.

Maurice Ampaw, who has also been invited by the Kumasi Chiefs, asserted that the traditional leaders are unaware of the close relationship between Chairman Wontumi and the Asante king.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Eko Sii Sen program, Maurice Ampaw said: “I am Wontumi’s lawyer and I can tell you a lot of business deals going on between Wontumi and Manhyia but they don’t know,” he revealed. He added that he is close to the Asantehene.

“In 2012 the Asantehene sent Tepahene to come and pick me up from Accra to see him,” lawyer Ampaw said explaining how the Asantehene sought his assistance for a campaign to fight negative disinformation.

It appears Lawyer Ampaw is calling the bluff of the Kumasi Traditional Council who have pledged to get to the bottom of the controversy featuring Chairman Wontumi.

Already, the lawyer has announced his intention to drag an Ashanti Chief to court over a remark made as the controversy unfolds.

The Divisional Heads of the Kumasi Traditional Councilagain have expressed indignation about the purported use of two of Kumasi-based radio stations owned by Chairman Wontumi by Maurice Ampaw, to further denigrate chiefs in the Ashanti region.

Meanwhile, Lawyer Ampaw has made it known that he will not be meeting the Kumasi Traditional Council on Monday, January 29, 2024, due to their biased position.

  • I will not go to Manhyia because no one is listening to me – Maurice Ampaw

I will not go to Manhyia because no one is listening to me – Maurice Ampaw

Private Legal Practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has chosen not to attend the invitation extended by the Kumasi Traditional Council following allegations of making derogatory remarks against the Asantehene.

After being given a one-week ultimatum, alongside the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership, to present Chairman Wontumi, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, before the council at the Manhyia Palace, Mr. Ampaw explained his decision in a recent response on Kasapa Radio. He clarified that he would not honor the invitation due to what he perceives as a verbal attack on his integrity.

While initially intending to attend the invitation out of respect for Manhyia, Mr. Ampaw expressed feeling insulted by certain traditional leaders. This has led him to believe that his case had been prejudged without giving him the opportunity to present his side.

“I’ve been insulted, and these assaults have been published all over social media, and my enemies are using it against me.

“I’ve been insulted on numerous media platforms. Nobody listened to my side of the story. So why do you expect me to be at Manhyia on Monday?” he questioned.

“You’ve already judged the case,” he added.

The attorney’s choice not to respond to the summons occurs against a backdrop of escalating tensions related to the alleged derogatory remarks against the Asantehene.

Despite the Kumasi Traditional Council issuing a one-week ultimatum for Ampaw and the NPP leadership to present Chairman Wontumi, the attorney’s refusal to participate introduces a new element into the developing situation.

As the controversy persists, it is uncertain how the Kumasi Traditional Council will react to Ampaw’s decision and whether additional measures will be implemented to address the perceived insults against the Asantehene.

I can sue you all – Angry Maurice Ampaw tells Ashanti Chiefs

Legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has announced his intention to drag an Ashanti Chief to court over a remark the latter made against the former in reaction to derogatory allegations against the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

The Divisional Heads of the Kumasi Traditional Councilagain have expressed indignation about the purported use of two of the Kumasi-based radio stations owned by Chairman Wontumi by Maurice Ampaw, to further denigrate chiefs in the Ashanti region.

The duo have been summoned to appear before the Council on Monday, January 29, 2024.

But ahead of this meeting to address the matter, Mr Ampaw has recounted an incident where he was referenced by one of the Chiefs in a manner he found derogatory.

In an interview on Kasapa FM, Mr Ampaw, on Thursday, January 25, noted that he would not take the comments likely and is considering a class action suit.

“The constitution guarantees us all a fair hearing, and for someone you summoned me and the party came to plead on his behalf, and you sit right there to judge the person and someone referenced me, one of the Chiefs saying, ‘Lawyer Ampaw, is he a lawyer in a car?’ That’s how that chief addressed me, saying he doesn’t know the type of Lawyer I am, imagine making such utterances.”

“You have made bad utterances about me on social media, trying to get my reaction as a chief and rubbish my credentials. I can sue the Chief in court, and it’s an option I am considering,” he added.

Despite the initial tension, Mr Ampaw assured that he would honour the Chiefs’ invitation.

“Everything that I have said will be subjected to strict proof. I am going there happily because I will explain everything to them. I will wear white-white. I am ready,” he added.

In a surprising turn of events, Maurice Ampaw has issued an apology to the Chiefs of the Ashanti region, retracting one of his earlier statements he deemed extreme.

“I am using this platform to tell Nananom (chiefs) that if my utterances were extreme and they see it very offensive, I retract and apologize.

In an earlier interview with Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin on GhanAkoma, Mr Ampaw stated that “We are going to talk law, and no one is above the law. I will honour the invitation; you will clap for lawyer Ampaw on Monday. I am going with the truth. Otumfuo supports the truth, and I am going to lay bare the facts.”

“My utterances were extreme” – Maurice Ampaw apologises to Ashanti chiefs after being summoned

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has issued an apology to the chiefs of the Ashanti region in response to a summon for him to appear before them on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Manhyia Palace.

This move comes after his previous on-air comments were perceived as derogatory towards certain chiefs in the Ashanti Region.

“We are going to talk law, and no one is above the law. I will honour the invitation; you will clap for lawyer Ampaw on Monday. I am going with the truth. Otumfuo supports the truth, and I am going to lay bare the facts,” he said in an earlier interview with Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin on GhanAkoma.

Now, in an interview on Asempa FM on January 24, 2024, Maurice Ampaw retracted his earlier statement and extended an apology to the Kumasi Traditional Council, urging them to forgive him for his remarks.

“I am using this platform to tell Nananom (chiefs) that if my utterances were extreme and they see it very offensive, I retract and apologize.

“I believe that let Asanteman move on, there is so much to do in the Ashanti Region and there is so much at stake in this political area and my love for Bawumia and NPP still stands.

“It is my prayer that we all support Chairman Wontumi to bring victory to the party and also support Otumfuo to bring development to the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole,” he said.

The General Secretary of the ruling NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua, had previously presented himself before the chiefs at the Manhyia Palace to address alleged inappropriate comments made by Chairman Wontumi during a vetting process.

In contrast, Maurice Ampaw had asserted that “some chiefs in the Ashanti Region are corrupt.” Despite his initial statement, Ampaw reiterated his respect for the Manhyia Palace and assured that he would honor the invitation.

He stated, “Everything that I have said will be subjected to strict proof. I am going there happily because I will explain everything to them. I will wear white-white. I am ready.”

Wontumi media expresses regret to Manhyia Palace for Maurice Ampaw’s inappropriate remarks

In anticipation of complying with a summons from the Kumasi Traditional Council regarding a contentious broadcast, the leadership of Wontumi Multimedia has extended a sincere apology to traditional authorities in the Ashanti Region.

The apology pertains to the recent behavior of lawyer Maurice Ampaw during an episode of his Mmra Ne Abrabo Mu Nsem program aired on Wontumi TV.

In an official statement signed by the General Manager of the media organization, the management condemned Maurice Ampaw’s remarks, characterizing them as disorderly and wholly unacceptable.

“The Management of Wontumi Multimedia wishes to render its unqualified and unreserved apology to the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) and Nananom for the unruly behaviour exhibited by one of our hosts at Wontumi Television by name Lawyer Maurice Ampaw.

“Management understands the importance of upholding respect and dignity, especially when it comes to matters involving customs and traditions, as well as esteemed figures like yourselves.

“We recognize that the conduct displayed by Lawyer Maurice Ampaw through our medium Wontumi Television, was completely unacceptable and does not reflect the values and standards of our organization,” the statement said.

The management stated that it had ordered the program to be suspended indefinitely until the issue was resolved, even though it acknowledged that actions were being taken to correct the situation.

“We must bring to the notice of our respected Nananom that management had no foreknowledge of the content of the programme on the said night, neither does it control over the minute details of the programme. Lawyer Maurice Ampaw unilaterally produced his show and determined issues to be discussed.

“Notwithstanding that, management does not intend to absorb itself of any blame and therefore accept full responsibility for any mishap,” the statement added.

The Kumasi Traditional Council recently issued a summons to Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman and owner of Wontumi Multimedia. The summons was in response to reports of his alleged challenge to the authority of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during a party event.

During his appearance before the Council last week, the leadership of the NPP, led by General Secretary Justin Frimpong Koduah, requested time for Wontumi to make his appearance, citing health reasons. However, the Council rejected this justification and ordered the party to produce Wontumi within seven days.

Additionally, the Council demanded the presence of Maurice Ampaw and the management of Wontumi Media regarding the lawyer’s statements on the matter involving their owner.

I am ready to go anytime they call me – Maurice Ampaw after alleged ‘insults’ on some Ashanti chiefs

Private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has committed to attending the summons by the Manhyia Palace on Monday, January 29.

The lawyer was summoned in response to his earlier outburst, where he made derogatory remarks about some chiefs in the Ashanti region.

“We are going to talk law and no one is above the law. The chiefs could have just summoned me directly without going through Manhyia. Even if I decide not to work here in Kumasi, I can still fire from Accra.

I will honour the invitation, and you will clap for Lawyer Ampaw on Monday. I am going with the truth. Otumfuo supports the truth and I am going to lay bare the facts,” lawyer Ampaw told Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin on GhanAkoma.

On Monday, the General Secretary of the ruling NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua, appeared before the Asanteman Council at the Manhyia Palace to respond to alleged unsavoury comments allegedly passed by the Ashanti Regional Chairman during a vetting process.

Lawyer Ampaw was also invited for a derogatory remark passed about chiefs in Ashant, a video of which has since gone viral. He alleged in the video that “some chiefs in the Ashanti Region are corrupt.”

He stressed that he has respect for the Manhyia Palace so he will make it a point to honour the invitation.

“Everything that I have said will be subjected to strict proof. I will not say I am sick. I am not sick. I will be there. I am going there happily, because I will explain everything to them. It’s been a while since I went there. I will wear white-white. I am ready,” he added.

It would be recalled that Otumfuo’s Chief Linguist, Nana Kofi Owusu, told the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by Justin Frimpong Kodua, that they should bring before the Asanteman Council the Regional Chairman of the Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Wontumi, within one week.

The order was given at a meeting held on January 22 at the Manhyia Palace.

“Wontumi should be produced here by next week, even if he is on a sick bed,” he told the NPP delegation.

Wontumi has been summoned to appear before the Asantehene for allegedly making unfavourable comments about Asanteman.

The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua, accompanied by the national organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, and several regional executives of the party, appeared before the Asanteman Council to plead on behalf of the Regional Chairman.

However, conspicuously missing was Bernard Antwi Boasiako. Mr Kodua told the chiefs that Wontumi was indisposed “Nananom, we could not come with Chairman Wontumi because he has not been well.”

But the excuse did not sit well with some of the chiefs.

For instance, one of Otumfuo’s chief linguists, Nana Kwaku Owusu, demanded a medical report on Wontumi. “If you claim Wontumi is sick, where is his doctor’s report?” he queried.

Mr Frimpong Kodua pleaded for clemency as he was unable to present the doctor’s report requested.

  • Only the Supreme Court can verbally summon someone – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw on Manhyia’s request for his presence

Only the Supreme Court can verbally summon someone – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw on Manhyia’s request for his presence

Private Legal Practitioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, has contended that the authority to verbally summon individuals resides exclusively with the Supreme Court.

Speaking to Joy FM, the NPP member expressed uncertainty regarding the grounds for his own summons but affirmed his readiness to comply with the Kumasi Traditional Council’s invitation.

“Only the Supreme Court has the right to summon anyone verbally. I don’t even know why I am being called. I will go on Monday out of respect, as I speak, I do not know which issue is at stake, which comments I have made” he added.

The Kumasi Traditional Council issued a one-week ultimatum to the NPP leadership to present Chairman Wontumi, also known as Bernard Antwi Boasiako, before the Manhyia Palace.

This directive follows alleged derogatory remarks made by Chairman Wontumi about the Asantehene approximately two weeks ago.

Chairman Wontumi is expected to appear alongside Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, who is similarly accused of making derogatory statements on radio.

The lawyer strongly criticized the chiefs of the Ashanti Kingdom for summoning Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.

During an appearance on the ‘Mmra ne Abrabo’ show on Wontumi TV, the lawyer accused the chiefs of engaging in questionable activities such as theft and girlfriend snatching.

He contended that these chiefs are unworthy of discussing Chairman Wontumi, citing allegations of multiple land sales among them.

“The chiefs ‘dragging’ Chairman Wontumi, have you finished solving your problems? Some of you are thieves,” he claimed.

Mr Ampaw questioned the chiefs’ priorities, suggesting they should focus on resolving their own issues before scrutinizing Chairman Wontumi.

However, maintaining his stance on the comments made before the summons, Mr Ampaw asserted that he spoke in the public interest.

“I did it in the public interest. It is a matter of public interest. Everything that I said there, I am responsible. Chairman Wontumi is not responsible. If the Traditional Council deems it fit to invite me, they should provide better particulars,” he said.

He emphasized his responsibility for the statements and calls on the Traditional Council to provide better particulars if an invitation is deemed necessary.

Meanwhile, in response to the escalating conflict, the NPP has instructed its members to refrain from making sensitive comments about the Manhyia Palace.

Private legal practitioner and prominent member of the New Patriotic Party, Maurice Ampaw has taken chiefs of the Ashanti Kingdom to the gutters for summoning Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

Speaking on the ‘Mmra ne Abrabo’ show on Wontumi TV, the lawyer accused the chiefs of being thieves and girlfriend snatchers.

He claimed that the chiefs are not worth talking about Chairman Wontumi because some of them engage in multiple sale of land.

“The chiefs ‘dragging’ Chairman Wontumi, have you finished solving your problems? Some of you are thieves,” he claimed.

His remarks come after a summon was placed on the head of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Chairman Wontumi, over some derogatory comments about the Asante kingdom.

The controversy arose during the vetting of NPP parliamentary aspirants in the Ashanti region when Chairman Wontumi allegedly claimed to have “built his own kingdom with military and police force in the Asante Kingdom.”

Following the remarks, the Kumasi Traditional Council has been desperately seeking his appearance before them to respond to some questions.

As at the time of filing this report, Chairman Wontumi had not made any appearance before the Council, however, he has been given up to January 29, 2024, to appear before the Council.

The party’s spokesperson is not Maurice Ampaw; we can’t disrespect you – NPP tells Otumfuo

The Chief Scribe of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has made it clear that Ghanaian lawyer, Maurice Ampaw has not been appointed as a spokesperson for the party.

Consequently, the NPP has distanced itself from the remarks made by the lawyer during his program on Wontumi TV over the weekend.

Frimpong stated, “The party does not recognize Maurice Ampaw.” This implies that Maurice and the management of Wontumi TV are solely responsible for addressing their broadcast, which has been deemed disrespectful to traditional authorities.

These remarks followed a summon issued to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, by the Kumasi Traditional Council over an alleged distasteful comment directed at Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which has angered Asanteman.

Before Antwi Boasiako could honor the summon on January 22, Maurice reportedly took to the TV station and denigrated the traditional rulers over the summon.

The Akwamu Division of the Council expressed dismay when the NPP appeared before the Council without Antwi Boasiako, stating, “Someone by the name Maurice Ampau has disrespected us on Wontumi’s TV station over the summon we issued to him today. He used unprintable words on us.”

Kyeame Kwaku Wusu, a representative of the Council, warned the NPP against allowing anyone to disrespect what they had built over the years.

In issuing a final timeline for Antwi Boasiako to appear before it on Monday, January 29, the Council also demanded the appearance of Maurice Ampaw and the management of Wontumi TV.

The NPP assured that they would compel the Regional Chairman to appear before the Council, emphasizing that further excuses would not be tolerated.

Mr Frimpong stated, “We will dissociate ourselves from any other excuse he gives this time around,” after earlier conveying that Wontumi was sick and receiving treatment in a hospital, making him unable to appear before the Council.

Otumfour’s authority does not extend to politics – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw is making headlines in the media for his efforts to address the controversy surrounding Chairman Wontumi.

Accused by some groups of disrespecting the authority of the Ashanti kingdom’s overlord, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, Mr Ampaw took a bold stance on Sunday, January 23, 2024, to dispel certain claims made by groups such as the Ashanti Youth Group.

During the vetting process, which led to an alleged altercation between Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Wontumi) and the Kokosohene representing Otumfour, Ampaw clarified the situation.

“Chairman Wontumi is an institution “Wontumiology” and the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II does not have a political kingdom and power over Ashanti Region since the Asantehene is above them thus, all the political parties” he said

According to him, “Chairman Wontumi is an institution, ‘Wontumiology,’ and the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II does not hold political authority over the Ashanti Region since the Asantehene’s position is above political parties.”

In Ampaw’s view, Wontumi rules the political kingdom in the Ashanti Region but is subject to the larger authority of Otumfour, who is globally respected.

He emphasized that the relationship between Wontumi and Otumfour is healthy, and any negative portrayal is attributed to political propaganda aimed at undermining Wontumi’s image in an election year.

  • Kennedy Agyapong will break away from NPP after Nov 4 – Maurice Ampaw

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has asserted that Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, will part ways with the ruling New Patriotic Party following the much-anticipated presidential primaries slated for November 4.

According to Lawyer Ampaw, the presidential aspirant would only exit the ruling party if he fails to emerge flagbearer at the end of the day.

He noted that recent actions by Mr Agyapong indicate to him that he join Alan Kyerematen who recently exited the ruling party owing to challenges with the electoral processes to elect a flagbearer, among others.

“I can tell you on authority that he doesn’t want to be part of NPP. He has decided, per his actions, show that if you don’t vote for him on November 4, he will leave the party and follow Alan,” he said.

In recent times, there has been bad blood between Mr Agyapong and some members of the NPP including  Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

Chairman Wontumi at a press conference in Kumasi earlier on Wednesday threatened to cause the arrest of Kennedy Agyapong if he “threatens” him again.

But Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team in the Ashanti Region has called the bluff of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, over his threat to cause the arrest of the flagbearer aspirant.

Meanwhile, a member of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) communication team, Kwadwo Danquah, has also projected that Mr Kennedy Agyapong will leave the NPP.

According to Mr Kwadwo Danquah, he expects Mr Agaypong to follow the footsteps of former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen owing to the alleged maltreatment meted out to them by the leadership of the ruling party.

The Eastern Regional Communications Office made the prediction during an interview on Power FM on September 26, 2023.

“When they go to their office, they go for Kan Dapaah’s boys to come and beat them and destroy their cars. That is what they did to Alan and for that, he has resigned from the party. That thing Akufo-Addo is doing may cause the downfall of the NPP. Mark my words today, Ken Agyapong will also go independent. He will resign and go independent.”

“I am the Eastern Regional Communications Officer; I am saying it on your platform. Today is 26th September 2023, I’m saying after they conclude the November primaries, Kennedy Agyapong will go independent.”

  • Vote for me or I break away – Maurice Ampaw reveals Kennedy Agyapong’s ‘grand plan’ for the NPP

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, believes presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, is working up to exit the party.

According to Lawyer Ampaw, the Assin Central MP’s strategy is to have delegates elect him as the NPP’s flagbearer ahead of the 2024 election or break away from the party.

I can tell you on authority that he doesn’t want to be part of NPP. He has decided, per his actions, show that if you don’t vote for him on November 4, he will leave the party and follow Alan,” he said.

He further explained that “To him, some pastors have prophesied that he would become president, so delegates of the NPP have no choice. He said, I’ve told I’d be come President. While Alan said it is my turn, Ken said I’ve been told I’ll become president. So if he doesn’t become president, he cannot support anyone. If you have such a personality in the party who is putting the party on notice that if he isn’t the one, no one can win. And because no one can win, he will go Independent.”

Recently, tensions have escalated between Mr. Kennedy Agyapong and certain members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi. Chairman Wontumi, during a press conference in Kumasi, issued a threat to have Kennedy Agyapong arrested if he made further threats against him.

In response, Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team in the Ashanti Region has dismissed Chairman Wontumi’s threat to have the flagbearer aspirant arrested.

Meanwhile, a member of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) communication team, Kwadwo Danquah, has speculated that Mr. Kennedy Agyapong may leave the NPP. According to Danquah, he anticipates that Kennedy Agyapong might follow the path of former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen due to alleged mistreatment by the leadership of the ruling party.

This prediction was made by the Eastern Regional Communications Office during an interview on Power FM on September 26, 2023.

  • You want money, why hold on to identity of Minister with mansions in East Legon – Maurice Ampaw goes after Martin Kpebu

You want money, why hold on to identity of Minister with mansions in East Legon – Maurice Ampaw goes after Martin Kpebu

Private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has come under intense scrutiny for failing to reveal the identity of a Minister he claims owns several mansions in East Legon.

Martin Kpebu is reported to have made such an allegation while contributing to discussions surrounding missing cash from the home of former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

But the lack of full details has triggered Lawyer Maurice Ampaw to lash out at his colleague.

According to Lawyer Ampaw, he suspects Martin Kpebu deliberately withheld the identity of the said Minister in order to siphon money from him or her.

He described Martin Kpebu as a blackmailer and dared him to reveal the identity of the individual in question.

Speaking on his Mmra Ne Abrabo Mu Nsem on Wontumi TV on August 6, 2023, Maurice Ampaw said: “A blackmailing lawyer like you, you are a blackmailer, I want you to take me on…you want to blackmail some of the MPs…you know a minister who has four houses why didn’t you mention his name? You want to go the Anas way, so that they come and beg you, bring it on, Martin Kpebu, NDC bring it on, because of Cecilia Dapaah…you people don’t know where she got her money from… You have labeled all NPP appointees and ministers as individuals amassing wealth illegally because of the upcoming elections,” he said.

He claimed that Martin Kpebu has connections with the opposing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and was employing these accusations to advance his party’s interests in the upcoming elections.

“You Kpebu you speak for the NDC… Charity begins at home. You are trying to make NPP ministers and appointees look as if they are the only one’s building houses, but start from your party, Lawyer Kpebu, start from your party, your own party that you have turned yourself like a hypocrite who doesn’t want to be associate with them but you are with them.”

He questioned the credibility of Kpebu by raising concerns about his lack of commentary regarding alleged questionable projects and constructions that occurred during the tenure of the previous government.

“Let me deal with Lawyer Kpebu, where is Lawyer Kpebu? Lawyer Kpebu has said that we have to go after politicians who are amassing wealth and building houses, and he said he is going to expose a politician who has built four houses, Martin Kpebu, Lawyer Martin Kpebu, hello, you have a miss call?

“Are you there, you are not serious, Martin Kpebu you are not serious, you have never been a serious politician and I am saying it on authority, because if you are a serious politician when did it cross your mind that politicians were building houses, when? Is it this government’s time?” he quizzed.

  • Hypocrites! Maurice Ampaw descends on Mahama, critics of Cecilia Dapaah

Hypocrites! Maurice Ampaw descends on Mahama, critics of Cecilia Dapaah

Critics of former minister of Sanitation and Water Resources Cecilia Dapaah have been roundly lambasted by attorney Maurice Ampaw for the suspected theft of funds totaling US$1 million, €300,000, and 350,000 Ghana cedis from her private property.

Ampaw claims that people criticizing the former minister are hypocrites because many Ghanaians actually have large quantities of cash stashed away in their residences.

“Today if you ask for money from any Ghanaian, the person will tell you that hthey don’t have money, but the kind of money that people are having in this country…though a lot of people are suffering, most of them have money, they are…loaded.

“The hypocrisy of Ghanaians, you are all hypocrites, the monies that you people have that you have kept in your various homes…but you people are condemning Cecilia Dapaah as if she has committed a crime. If you like let us start with every politician in this country.”

He added “Cecilia Dapaah’s US$1 million is someone’s chicken change money; someone spends much more than that money in less than one month. I was a lawyer for one of the collapsed banks and the owner disclosed to me that his wage bill alone is sixty-six billion Ghana cedis, wage bill alone, what is one million Ghana cedis?”

“Shameless people, because of propaganda even today Mahama is also doing propaganda, You, President Mahama, look at the hypocrisy of President Mahama. President Mahama US$1 million is just a day’s money for you…because today you NDC people don’t have money and you are hungry…. for how many years from 2016 until now? How many years have you been in opposition?

“You people had money from 2008 to 2012, NDC, you made money and kept them in your houses same as Cecilia Dapaah did, some of you, hypocrisy all the NDC people,” he added.

The former minister revealed why she decided to resign in her letter of resignation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, saying that the problems with the money could have a negative impact on the government.

She did, however, point out that the theft issue in her home has been greatly overstated in many accounts.

“Since yesterday, Friday, July 21, 2023, social and traditional media have been full of stories about a court case involving a theft that took place last year in the home I live with my husband and daughter.

“The stories sought to suggest that I own various huge sums of foreign currencies and millions of Ghana cedis which have been stolen from my home. Whereas I can state emphatically that those figures do not represent correctly what my husband and I reported to the Police, I am very much aware of the import of such stories around someone in my position.

“I am resigning therefore because I do not want this matter to become a preoccupation of government and a hindrance to the work of government at such a crucial time,” parts of the letter read.

  • It’s easier for NDC to destroy Kennedy Agyapong – Maurice Ampaw makes a case for Bawumia

Private legal Practitioner Lawyer Maurice has thrown his weight behind Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia for the upcoming flagbearer election of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in August.

The two other leading candidates namely Alan Kyerematen and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong are much easy targets for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the firebrand lawyer says.

“Kennedy Agyapong has a lot of dossier that the NDC can use against him and so the NDC is only focused on attacking Bawumia who poses serious threat him.”

According to him, Bawumia will remove Akufo-Addo loyalists from positions of power when elected, likening what is to come, to how the late John Fiifi Atta Mills, allegedly sidelined members of his own party, upon assuming office in 2009.

“I see Bawumia as someone who is bringing good luck to Ghana, his government will be Bawumia’s government and not Nana Akufo-Addo’s government and Bawumia will sack all Nana Addo’s people from his side, all Nana Addo’s people will go away, all of them will expire when Bawumia comes, he will be like Atta Mills, do you remember what Atta Mill’s did to Rawlings, the same way that he will do,” he said.

Speaking in an interview with Okay FM, on July 9, 2023, he stressed the significance of electing a Muslim president from the Northern Region of Ghana. He argued that previous administrations led by Christians had let down the nation, accusing them of engaging in corruption and unethical practice as a result, he contended that it was time to break the cycle and embrace a leader from a different religious background.

“When Bawumia comes we will make history, for the first time, we will get someone who is a Muslim and lives in the North. We have tried Christians who have disappointed us, using the name of Jesus Christ, they will be stealing, taking bribes and all, so, we are tired of the Christians.”

  • Request more money from your husband to stop him from spending on their side chics – Maurice Ampaw to wives

Request more money from your husband to stop him from spending on their side chics – Maurice Ampaw to wives

Private Legal Practitioner Maurice Ampaw has advised wives to be very demanding of their husbands in order to reduce the tendency of them to spend on their side chics

He says men have the tendency of spending on other women if their women are not very demanding of them.

Maurice Ampaw who was speaking on the State Broadcaster, Ghana Television (GTV) said unlike previously when women were compassionate with their husbands, that should not be the case now.

“Women must always make demands of their husbands. Don’t pity your husband, don’t be compassionate towards your husband, don’t say my husband doesn’t have. Men if you don’t demand we will give that money to our side chics. Never favor a man, never think that you’re doing your husband good.

Please let him be responsible. We have situations where a woman is going to marry and she says I have my clothing and some of them even allow men to sign fake cheques. When you allow men that space, they will disregard the marriage. We value our wives when we spend on them. When men spend on you then they begin to love you. I can tell you our love is based on how much we have spent on you. The more we spend on our women…That is why a man can be crazy about their side chic because they spend on them.

Make sure that your husband spends on you. Don’t allow your husband enough money. When you take good care of your wife, you treat your wife with respect, make sure that you give your wife quality enjoyment, take your wife out and all the things that you do for the side chic do same for your wife and you’ll see that your love will develop,” he said.

  • I am coming for you again – Maurice Ampaw to Afia Schwarzenegger

I am coming for you again – Maurice Ampaw to Afia Schwarzenegger

Legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has promised to press a new contempt charge against media personality, Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa alias Afia Schwarzenegger.

According to him, he has evidence to prove that Afia has among other things violated a bond of good behaviour despite being the subject of a charge of contempt by a court.

“I gave her a lot of chance and she is back misbehaving on social media and I have gathered evidence to that effect, I am taking Afia to court for continuous contempt. The court made her sign a bond of good behaviour for three years, I am going to execute the bail bond against her,” Maurice Ampaw told Oman Channel in an interview.

He was speaking after leading one of his clients, a Canadian-based fashion designer to press defamation charges against Kumawood actor, Ogyam who had accused his client of having a sexual relationship with a popular pastor.

Ogyam in a series of YouTube videos accused Abena Boafowaa of sleeping with the founder and leader of the Universal Spiritual Outreach church, Bishop Kwabena Asiamah alias Ajagurajah.

The actor has since recanted all the allegations following the lawsuit brought against him.

In February this year, a Tema High Court fined Afia Schwarzenegger GH¢60,000 in a contempt led by lawyer Maurice Ampaw.

The court additionally imposed GH¢5,000 fine on the social media celebrity, to be paid to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Benard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, for defamatory comments against him.

The court further ordered Afia Schwarzenegger, to sign a bond of good behaviour for 36 months and was also ordered not to make any pronouncements or comment on the case during the bond period.

Any breach of the orders, it was said, would result in her appearance before the court.

The fine was imposed after the court granted her prayer to vary 10-day jail term for refusing to appear before the court after Mr Boasiako sued her for contempt.

  • You are not destined to be president – Maurice Ampaw tells Kennedy Agyapong

You are not destined to be president – Maurice Ampaw tells Kennedy Agyapong

Legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has asked candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, Kennedy Agyapong, to assess his skills and decide against running for president because that is not his calling.

If one is not called or born with such aptitude, being president will be challenging, according to Ampaw, who believes that the office is about a divine calling.

“I’m telling Kennedy Agyapong that; you weren’t born to become president. You’re aware that you were not given a presidential talent so why are you forcing yourself to become a president? Kennedy Agyapong you are a fighter.

“God told David that he can’t build the church because his hands are full of blood (filth),” he said.

Speaking on the March 19, 2023, episode of Mmra Ne Abrao Mu Nsem on Wontumi TV, Maurice Ampaw added that politics is a game filled with evil, falsehoods, and deception, that he thinks he would have died by now if he had entered earlier.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong has revealed that he was driven to join the presidential race after he sighted a video of Prophet Amoako Attah’s prophecy in March 2022.

Prophet Francis Amoako Attah, who is the founder of Parliament Chapel International, prophesied that God had a special assignment for Kennedy Agyapong which goes beyond being a Member of Parliament.

“Nobody can stop Hon Kennedy Agyapong from his vision to become a president of Ghana. I saw in the realms of the spirit that the star of God picked Hon Kennedy Agyapong.

“Many people love him from their heart but they are not professing it to the general public. It will start gradually and all of a sudden, all the youth in the Country will Support Kennedy Agyapong,” he said.

  • You cannot collapse NPP – Maurice Ampaw to Kennedy Agyapong

You cannot collapse NPP – Maurice Ampaw to Kennedy Agyapong

A private practitioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, has criticized Kennedy Agyapong, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, for threatening to collapse the party.

He asserts that Kennedy Agyapong lacks the authority or constitutional right to initiate such action against the party.

In an interview with Sompa FM (March 10), Kennedy Agyapong claimed that there was a plot by the government to collapse his companies, before sounding a word of caution that if the plot is pursued, he will reveal secrets that will collapse the NPP.

“You are going there because Kwame Agyapong is a loudmouth. You want to collapse my companies because I want to contest. I’m being nice and charitable to the NPP but they shouldn’t dare me. Anybody who tries to kill my companies because I’m contesting for elections, I will kill the party.

“The things I know and will say will kill the party. I’ve gone through a lot from January till date but I’ve been very nice. If you want to collapse my company because of one person then I will also kill the company. I’m not afraid of anyone,” he fumed.

While appearing as a guest on Mmra Abrabo Mu nsem on Wontumi TV on March 13, 2023, Maurice Ampaw urged Kennedy Agyapong to become acquainted with the law in order to avoid exposing his ignorance to Ghanaians.

“NPP is nobody’s property, Kennedy Agyapong listen to me, NPP is not for you. How dare you? That you will collapse the party…don’t let me come directly at you, you dare not.

“You cannot… it is the party members who are afraid of you. NPP party is a public entity, I’m teaching you law today. NPP party is a political party and in law, a political party is a public institution, it is not owned…NPP is not owned by one person.

“All Ghanaians have an interest in what goes on in NPP, and the same with NDC that’s why I can speak about the NDC, because both political parties, through your activities win power to govern us.

“So, Ghanaians have an interest, and that’s why I can talk about NDC because whatever happens in NDC, one day they will win power. So, if we don’t have a say in what goes on in NDC, we will get bad leadership to control our resources.

“That’s why I said Kennedy Agyapong, know the law, go and learn about the law because you can’t collapse the NPP party.”

He also dared Kennedy Agyapong to reveal whatever secrets he claims to have against the party.

“Whatever secret you have, come and say it. You’re loud Kennedy Agyapong, use that to scare the foot soldiers.

“And those that are following Kennedy Agyapong, thinking that he is their saviour he can’t come and save anybody. He’s a populist.”

Ampaw asked Agyapong to look and learn from fellow aspirants: “Look at the other presidential candidates, look at Alan Kyerematen, look at Bawumia, on a quiet note. They’re working, and Kennedy, he’s just making noise. For you, every day you’re accusing Nana Addo, what at all has Nana Addo done to you?” he asked.

Court detains Afia Schwarzenegger, orders her to pay GH¢60,000

Ghanaian socialite Afia Schwarzenegger has been asked by the Tema High Court to pay GH¢60,000 instead of a jail sentence, during her contempt case hearing today, January 31, 2023.

In an exclusive interview with Maurice Ampaw, Charman Wontumi’s lawyer, he disclosed that her sentence also includes being barred from social media banter for two years, GhanaWeb can confirm.

She is being held by the Tema High Court at the moment, and the court has ordered that she be freed after the full amount of the assigned funds has been paid.

As earlier reported by GhanaWeb, Afia was charged with contempt of court in her case involving famous Ghanaian politician, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi.

Although she was sentenced to a 10-day prison for contempt of court back in 2022, she did not serve.

Her lawyers on December 20, 2022, moved a motion on notice for a variation of the sentence.

The Tema High Court will on Tuesday, January 17, render a verdict that will determine her fate.

Meanwhile, Afia has shared an emotional post in remembrance of her late father who passed away last year at the age of 83.

“Dada, it’s been a year you left me. Am I doing good…Naaa just existing,” she stated in her IG post on January 17, 2023.

  • Your curses didn’t work, You’re still going to Jail – Maurice Ampaw to Afia Schwarzenegger

Lawyer for Chairman Wontumi, Maurice Ampaw, has descended on Afia Schwarzenegger, trolling her over her current predicament.

Ampaw said Schwarzenegger should hold off on jubilating after a judge temporarily lifted the bench warrant for her arrest.

According to the controversial lawyer, she is not free and would have to report to court on December 15th to face the musc.

Ampaw said Afia would be dealt with properly on that day.

He then turned to the trips she took to several shrines earlier this year to curse Chairman Wontumi, Ampaw himself and others.

He mocked her and said all those trips were for nothing.

The lawyer said he serves a living God and no shrine has any power over him.

Hilariously, Ampaw started singing praises and worship in his video!

Netizens couldn’t help laughing, noting how Afia has turned a lawyer into a preacher!

  • Present yourself or spend Christmas in jail – Wontumi’s lawyer warns Afia Schwarzenegger

Lawyer for the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Maurice Ampaw, has asked Ghanaian socialite, Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa known in showbiz as Afia Schwarzenegger to avail herself for the 10-day jail sentence or risk spending her Christmas in jail.

He made the call on Sunday, December 5, 2022, after a court sentenced Afia Schwarzenegger to 10 days in prison for contempt of court.

This is also after Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional NPP chairman dragged Afia Schwarzenegger and the other contemnors including United Television (UTV) to court after she and the other contemnors decided to run commentary on a case pending before the court during an entertainment show, the United Showbiz, broadcasted on UTV in July this year.

Counsel for applicant, Maurice Ampaw, who led the prosecution, argued that the culprit ought to be penalised to deter others from making such unsubstantiated claims

In the affidavit in support of the motion to commit the respondents to prison for contempt of court, Lawyer Ampaw said on the Saturday,July 9, 2021 edition of the United Showbiz, an entertainment programme aired by the UTV, the station, host and the executive producer offered their platform to other panellists to discussed Afia Schwarzenegger’s alleged romantic affair with Chairman Wontumi, which he said was a subject matter for determination by the court, stressing that it was subjudice, hence the action in court.

At the end of the day, the judge pronounced the defendants guilty.

Lawyer Ampaw, in an interview after the judgment, said they are happy with the outcome, stressing that everyone one involved will learn the hard lesson, especially those who think they can undermine the Judiciary.

  • Look for a top lawyer, renowned man of God to plead for you – Maurice Ampaw tells Ama Governor

A private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has advised YouTuber Elorm Ababio, a.k.a Ama Governor, to show some remorse for her actions on social media if she intends to be called to the Ghana Bar.

Speaking in a Neat FM monitored by GhanaWeb, lawyer Ampaw said that defenders of Ama Governor should urge her to change her behaviour rather than threatening to demonstrate because their demonstration will change nothing.

He added that Ama Governor should go before the General Legal Council (GLC) with one of the nation’s top lawyers and a clergyman who will plead for the blockade on her call to the Bar to be lifted.

“You can enjoy your life, but you have to enjoy it in the quiet. You can’t be living an I don’t care life because it is your life. Who told you it is your life? Whatever you do affects somebody else.

“Let me advise Ama Governor and all those who are insulting the Council that they are not helping the girl. I also advise the girl to stop social media stuff. The matter is now soft speaking; it is before the Council.

“What she should be doing now is to be looking for an experienced lawyer, who has practised for about 30 to 50 years and a Christian clergy who is respected in the country from the orthodox churches… The man of God will plead on her behalf when they go before the Council… the law should also convince that counsel that s/he will mentor her… that is the only way the Council will lift the ban on her,” he said in Twi.

Elorm Ababio, a student who just completed the Ghana School of Law (GSL), will not be called to the Ghana Bar due to a petition filed against her by a “concerned citizen”.

The complaint, according to the letter signed by Justice Cynthia Pamela A. Addo JA, Secretary, General Legal Council (GLC), stated that Ama Governor is seen in widely circulated videos engaging in what it describes as “conduct unbecoming of an applicant to be called to the Bar”.

The complainant, the GLC Secretary, indicated also submitted a flash drive [pen drive] which contains selected video files and hyperlinks of Ama Governor to relevant website publications.

Ama Governor’s conduct is said to violate Regulation 21(c) of the Legal Profession (Professional and Post-call Law Course) Regulations, 2018 L.I. 2355.

The said regulation states: “A student of the school qualifies to be called to the Bar if that student has […] (c) satisfied the Council that the student is of good character.”

The Council, as Justice Cynthia Pamela A. Addo JA said, had thus decided:

“1. To constitute a three-member Committee to investigate the complaint and advise Council accordingly.

“2. To suspend the decision to call you [Ama Governor] to the Bar pending the outcome of the investigation.

“I have been directed by the Chairperson of the General Legal Council to inform you of this matter and to advise you to expect to be contacted by the Committee in due course.”

“You will be given a fair hearing on the complaint before a decision is arrived at,” Justice Cynthia Pamela A. Addo JA’s letter dated November 3 concluded.

  • Lawyer Kpebu, Maurice Ampaw fight dirty over demands for Akufo-Addo to resign

Private legal practitioners Martin Kpebu and Maurice Ampaw have clashed over the former’s demand for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to step done for his poor management of Ghana’s economy.

The clash comes after Maurice Ampaw berated Martin Kpebu for his call for the president’s removal and suggested something might be psychologically wrong with Martin Kpebu.

“In fact, Kpebu needs psychiatric treatment. I’m being frank because a lawyer wants us to enter into a constitutional crisis. Because the Kpebu that I know is a very good lawyer, a brilliant lawyer. But now that he has ventured into politics, it looks as if he has become a different lawyer.

“Now, he is not putting on legal spectacles; he is putting on political spectacles and look at what Kpebu is professing. A whole lawyer is saying that a government must be forced to leave power to hand over power to the opposition.

“… and he buttresses this with Article 41. Tell him that if he has forgotten the Constitution, he should read Article 41 – the duties of the citizens. Where in that provision is it written that the citizen has the right to force the president to resign,” he said in Twi.

Reacting to this in an interview on Neat FM, which GhanaWeb monitored, Martin Kpebu said that Ampaw suggesting that he does not understand the law does not make sense because his records show that he is a better lawyer than him (Ampaw).

“… Maurice Ampaw himself knows that I am a better lawyer than him. He can’t talk about me in this manner. Maurice is someone who has not practised law as I have, and so he can not speak about me like this in public.

“Ask him the number of cases he has done in court. Ask him who his clients are… as a lawyer, how many cases he has worked on. Where is your chamber?” he said in Twi.

Ampaw, who was also on the show, then clapped back at Kpebu, saying he was a more experienced lawyer than him.

“Tell Martin Kpebu that I am his senior. When I was studying law, he was in JHS (Junior High School). When I started winning civil cases, he (Kpebu) was not a lawyer yet. He should bring the court cases he has won for us to compare.

“Does he know my background? He is not my colleague when it comes to legal practice,” he said.

Lawyer Ampaw added that Kpebu’s attempt to get the president to step down is a treasonable offence which he should be punished for.

  • Lithur, Ampaw and Amenuvor set for election petition hearing

Lawyer Akoto Ampaw of Akufo-Addo, Prempeh and Co. law firm, has entered appearance for Nana Akufo-Addo in the election petition filed against the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Justin Agbeli Amenuvor of Amenuvor and associates is on the other hand, going to represent the Electoral Commission (EC).

The two are expected to square up the legal battle with Tony Lithur of Lithur Brew law firm, who filed the Petition for and on behalf of the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama.

With the appearances filed, the case is almost set to begin, after the exchange of the necessary documents, including the list of witnesses to be called.

While this is the first time for Justin Amenuvor, Tony Lithur and Akoto Ampaw, were part of the 2013 election petition hearing filed by Akufo-Addo, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the late Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, a former National Chairman of the NPP.

In the 2013 case, Mr Lithur was the lead lawyer for then President Mahama, while Mr Ampaw, was part of the Akufo-Addo’s legal team led by Lawyer Philip Addison.

Mr TsatsuTsikata, was counsel for the NDC.

Unlike the 2013 case which lasted eight months, the Supreme Court in this case, has allotted 42 days to tell Ghanaians, if they must vote again or recognise the NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo, as the validly elected President.

The Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin Yeboah, is yet to announce the list of Supreme Court judges to sit on the case.

Ex-President Mahama, is asking the Supreme Court to compel the EC to conduct a run-off with him and the incumbent, Nana Akufo-Addo, as candidates.

He also wants an order of injunction restraining President Akufo-Addo, from holding himself out as President-elect.

Mr Mahama, contends that the results declared by the EC in favour of President Akufo-Addo of the NPP were “made arbitrarily, capriciously, and with bias.”

The former president, also feels “that the said declaration was made without regard to due process of law.”

The EC declared the winner of the presidential election when the Techiman South Constituency results were pending.

But the presidential candidate of the NDC argues that if all the votes of Techiman South Constituency were added to his votes, President Akufo-Addo’s votes, would remain at 6,730,413, now yielding 49.625 percent of the votes, while his would increase to 6,342,907, now yielding 46.768 percent.

“Therefore, Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa’s claim in the purported declaration on 9th December 2020 that adding all the 128,018 votes in the Techiman South Constituency to the votes standing to the name of Petitioner, would not change the results, was clearly wrong,” Mr Mahama said.

The petition was filed on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, by Mr Mahama’s lawyers, following the party’s audit of the 2020 Presidential results “and extensive consultations with the National Executive Committee and Council of Elders of the party.”

In a statement, the NDC said the petition details “serious violations of the 1992 Constitution by the Electoral Commissionand its Chairperson and Returning Officer for the Presidential Election, Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa in the conduct of their constitutional and legal responsibilities.”

The petition seeks among others, a declaration from the Supreme Court to the effect that, “the purported declaration of the results of the 2020 Presidential Election on the 9th day of December 2020 is unconstitutional, null and void and of no effect whatsoever.”

  • Ibrahim Mahama sues Maurice Ampaw, Wontumi TV for GHC2m over defamatory comments

Businessman, Ibrahim Mahama, has sued celebrity lawyer, Maurice Ampaw, for defamatory comments made on a television show.

Joined to the suit is the TV station on which the said defamatory comments were made, Wontumi TV, in Kumasi, owned by Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited.

According to the suit sighted by GhanaWeb.com, Mr Ampaw stated that a previous case filed by Mr Mahama against Bernard Antwi-Boasiako a.k.a Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is “part of the grand scheme to muzzle Chairman”.

The suit further alleged that Mr Ampaw also stated that by filing the suit against the NPP Chairman, Mr Ibrahim Mahama, who is a brother to former President John Mahama, has opened himself up for attacks and hence warned him to prepare for these attacks.

“We find it more convenient now more than ever, to revisit the dossier of the numerous allegations made against him to chastise him like his role in the collapse of the Merchant Bank and the diabolical plot he hatched with his brother, former President John Dramani Mahama, to secure the exclusive right of ownership of the vast Nyinahin bauxite deposits,” Mr Ampaw is alleged to have stated on the TV programme.

Mr Ibrahim Mahama, therefore, wants the court to order the defendants to pay GHC2 million in damages for defaming him in the eyes of right-thinking members of society.

  • Akuapem Poloo not different from a porn star – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has fired salvos at Instagram influencer, Rosemond Brown a.k.a Akuapem Poloo for exposing her nakedness to her 7-year old child.

Akuapem Poloo has recently become the talk of the day as an act by her to mark son’s birthday courted controversies with child rights organization called Child Rights International filing a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to arrest her.

The controversial Instagram sensation, celebrating her son’s birthday, posted a picture of her naked and standing before the child with a touching message to go with the photo.

Following the complaint by the child rights organization which stated that she had violated the son’s right and welfare, the CID invited Akuapem Poloo for interrogation but reports indicated she refused to honour the invite.

The Ministry for Gender, Children and Social Protection also condemned her act.

Addressing the issue, Lawyer Ampaw in an interview with Halifax Ansah Addo on Okay FM’s ‘Best Entertainment’ likened Akuapem Poloo to a ”porn star”.

According to him, Akuapem Poloo’s act will cause her son to spy on women in order to feast his eyes on their nakedness, adding her act is a criminal offence.

Lawyer Ampaw stated emphatically that Akuapem Poloo should be set as an example by the security agency saying she has violated the Criminal Offences and Electronic Acts which clearly spell out that showing nudity amounts to pornography and against the laws.

“With what she’s doing, she is not different from a porn star. Secondly, she has offended the mind of her 7-year old child. In law, she has committed what is called ‘obscene’. That’s also a charge. She has spoiled the mind of the child to the extent that she has exposed the child to immoral act which can make the child think she can watch any lady’s nudity.

“So, when the child begins to spy on women taking their bath, it’s the fault of the mother or should the mother’s lady friend visit them and fall asleep in their room, the child can steal his way to watch her nakedness. So, the child will be interested in looking at porn materials because that’s what the mother has printed on his mind. So, this is a serious criminal offence that I think we should use Rosemond Brown as an example,” he insisted.
