Meghan Markle’s Netflix Series; ‘With Love’ to be released in January

On January 2, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, introduced her new lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, on her newly created Instagram account. The show, set to launch on January 15, will be available on Netflix. At 43, Meghan embarks on this personal project as both the host and executive producer.

In a post, Meghan shared the trailer for her upcoming show, captioning it: “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it.

Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix. Beyond grateful for the support — and fun! As ever, Meghan.”

Meghan filmed her new show in Montecito, California, where she’s seen engaging in various activities like cooking, managing a beehive, arranging flowers, and hosting friends and guests, including her husband, Prince Harry.

“I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it,” she says in the clip, which is set to The Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Do You Believe in Magic.” “Surprising people with moments that let them know I was really thinking of them.”

“We’re not in the pursuit of perfection, we’re in the pursuit of joy,” she says elsewhere in the trailer. “Love is in the details.”

In a release shared with PEOPLE, Netflix describes the show as an “inspiring series, produced by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, that reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old.”
Meghan Markle and Mindy Kaling in Netflix’s ‘With Love, Meghan’.

The statement continues, “Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected. She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.”

The 8-episode series, with each installment running 33 minutes, brings together a lineup of Meghan’s closest friends. Among them are her longtime makeup artist Daniel Martin and photographer Delfina Blaquier, wife of polo star Nacho Figueras, a close friend of Prince Harry.

The series also features actress-producer Mindy Kaling, Tracy Robbins (wife of Paramount CEO Brian Robbins), veteran literary agent and Godmothers Bookstore co-founder Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, Tatcha founder Vicky Tsai, former Suits star Abigail Spencer, and Kelly McKee Zajfen, co-founder of Alliance of Moms.

Adding a culinary flair to the series are renowned chefs and restaurateurs Roy Choi and Ramon Velazquez, along with farm-to-table pioneer Alice Waters, who share their expertise and passion for food.

Directed by Michael Steed (Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown) and helmed by showrunner Leah Hariton (Selena + Chef), the series is a collaboration between Meghan and Prince Harry’s Archewell Productions and The Intellectual Property Corporation, a division of Sony Pictures Television.

With Love, Meghan is the Duchess of Sussex’s first solo hosting project for Netflix, offering an intimate and personal look into her world.

This follows Meghan and Harry’s five-part docuseries Polo, which premiered in December but struggled to find traction on Netflix’s top 10 charts.

  • Nigeria first lady gives clarity on her alleged ‘nakedness’ remarks about Meghan’s dressing

Nigeria first lady gives clarity on her alleged ‘nakedness’ remarks about Meghan’s dressing

First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has clarified her recent remarks that were misconstrued as a critique of Meghan Markle’s wardrobe during her visit to the nation.

At the invitation of the Chief of Defence Staff, the country’s top military official, Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, were in Nigeria from May 10 to May 12.

The couple travelled overseas to support Harry’s Invictus Games, in which Nigeria participated for the first time in 2023, and to advocate for mental health programs for youth conducted by the Archewell Foundation.

First Lady Tinubu gained notoriety when Arise News’s video of her speaking on the struggles of Nigeria’s youth at an Abuja event called “Celebrating the Woman” went viral.

In her speech, she said, “We are not having the Met Gala . . . We don’t accept nakedness in our culture. It is not beautiful at all . . . They are mimicking and trying to emulate film stars from America.

They don’t know where they came from. Why did Meghan come here, looking for Africa? That is something we have to take home with us. We know who we are, and don’t lose who you are.”

Nevertheless, the First Lady’s office emphasised that Tinubu’s reference to the Duchess of Sussex was about Meghan’s journey to discover her identity and where she originated from after learning she is 43 percent Nigerian.

In a statement to AFP Fact Check, her office noted, “She meant Meghan appreciates the people we are, hence her coming here. At no point did she say anything about Meghan’s dressing.”

The clarification follows reports from multiple local and international media outlets suggesting that the speech criticised the tour attire of the Duchess of Sussex.

As reported by People magazine, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not have a public meeting with the Nigerian president or his spouse during their visit to the West African country.

Nigeria’s First Lady supports Meghan Markle amid fashion criticism

Nigeria’s first lady, Oluremi Tinubu, expressed support for Meghan Markle following online allegations that she criticized the Duchess’ fashion selections during a recent visit to Nigeria.

Tinubu garnered attention after a video of her speech addressing challenges confronting Nigeria’s youth emerged online, with a statement emphasizing cultural norms.

“They are all beautiful girls, but they should be confident to know they are. They don’t want to be like… even they are mimicking and trying to emulate film stars from America.

“They don’t know where they come from. Why did Meghan come here looking for Africa? That is something we have to take home with. We know who we are and don’t lose who you are,” Tinubu added.

Some interpreted this as the first lady indirectly referencing Meghan, suggesting that her mention of “nakedness” criticized the duchess’ attire for the visit. Social media posts on the remarks went viral and garnered mainstream media coverage.

Yet, the first lady’s office has released a statement supporting Meghan and refuting what they view as a misleading interpretation. Newsweek reached out to representatives of Meghan Markle and Oluremi Tinubu’s office for comment via email.

“She meant Meghan appreciates the people we are and hence her coming here,” the first lady’s office told international news agency Agence France-Presse on May 30. “At no point did she say anything about Meghan’s dressing.”

The vote of confidence from the first lady’s office comes as Meghan and Prince Harry were generally well received during their three-day visit to Nigeria between May 10 and 12.

The couple were officially invited to visit the West African nation by General Christopher Musa, chief of defense staff, the country’s top-ranking military representative. Many of the events Meghan and Harry undertook during their stay were connected with Harry’s veterans sports tournament, the Invictus Games, which Nigeria participated in for the first time in 2023 and one day hopes to host.

Meghan had revealed on an episode of her Archetypes podcast that she discovered through a genealogy test that she is 43 percent Nigerian and thanked Nigerians for “welcoming me home” during her stay in the country.

The couple’s visit raised eyebrows in Britain as it closely mirrored official tours undertaken by members of the royal family on behalf of the monarchy and U.K. government. When Harry and Meghan split from the monarchy in 2020 and stepped down from their roles as working royals, they relinquished their responsibilities to undertake these tours.

The couple’s Nigeria visit, though officially invited and organized by the chief of defense staff, was made in a private capacity as philanthropists and Harry as patron and founder of the Invictus Games, not as members of the royal family.

Meghan’s wardrobe during the visit won praise from the fashion press. However, critics online said that the duchess’ bare-shouldered looks were incongruous with the modest form of dressing adopted by a large percentage of the country’s estimated 50 percent Muslim population.

Though widely considered a successful visit, Harry and Meghan’s Nigeria visit was hit with scandal when it was revealed the couple had used the commercial airline Air Peace for internal travel between the cities of Abuja and Lagos.

Allen Onyema, Air Peace chief executive and founder, is currently wanted in the U.S. on a fraud indictment from 2019.

While it is unclear whether Harry and Meghan were aware of this at the time, commentators have noted that this is a mistake that they cannot afford to repeat if they are to continue making international visits.

  • Judge dismisses Meghan Markle’s half-sister’s defamation lawsuit

Judge dismisses Meghan Markle’s half-sister’s defamation lawsuit

A judge in Florida threw out a case against Meghan Markle, saying that the actress did not make mean and untrue statements about her half-sister.

Samantha, who is Markle’s half-sister, said that Markle’s comments in a Netflix show and an interview with Oprah Winfrey made it seem like Samantha is trying to become famous and is not honest about her intentions.

The lawsuit was about Markle saying that she and Samantha were not close growing up and that Samantha changed her last name to Markle when the royal couple started dating.

US District Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell in Florida found that the statements in question were either opinions, mostly true, or did not harm Samantha.

Meghan Markle and Harry are called The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They are part of King Charles’ family. They and their two kids have been living in California since they stopped being royal in 2020.

Their famous separation from the rest of Britain’s royal family has been in newspapers all over the world for years, and it made the British government take away Harry’s automatic police protection when he was in Britain.

In the 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey mentioned in Samantha Markle’s complaint, the couple said the royal family was racist, didn’t care about them, and had fights within their own family. When Winfrey asked Markle about her half-sister’s book that was supposed to reveal everything about her, Markle said it’s difficult to reveal everything about someone you don’t know well.

49 million people around the world watched when they were on Winfrey’s show, according to US network CBS. Their popularity in Britain went down a lot and it caused a big crisis for the monarchy that has been around for 1,000 years.

Meghan finally steps out after as Prince Harry returns to Montecito after King Charles reunion

Duchess of Sussex has been sighted for the first time since her husband, Prince Harry, hurriedly travelled to the UK to visit his father, King Charles.

In newly-released images obtained by MailOnline, Meghan was seen behind the wheel of her Range Rover during a low-key outing near the couple’s Montecito home.

The former Suits actress, sporting a pair of oversized sunglasses, exuded a sense of relaxation and contentment as she cruised through her neighborhood on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex made a swift journey from California to the UK, arriving less than 24 hours after Buckingham Palace confirmed King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.

Prince Harry, aged 39, was photographed arriving at Clarence House in London, where he spent approximately 45 minutes with his father before the King departed via helicopter for Sandringham. Subsequently, the Duke returned to Los Angeles, just ahead of his upcoming visit to Canada next week.

Meghan, aged 42, opted to stay home with the couple’s young children, Prince Archie, aged four, and Princess Lilibet, aged two. Meanwhile, the Sussexes are scheduled to travel to Canada from February 14 to 16 for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025’s One Year to Go celebrations.

During their three-day visit to Vancouver and Whistler, Harry and Meghan are expected to join members of the Participating Nations Winter Training Camp. TV series, Suits Reboot won’t feature Meghan Markle – Reports

Meghan Markle will not be featured in the upcoming Suits reboot, titled Suits: LA, despite writers creating a seemingly perfect role for her.

However, there were attempts to involve her company, Archewell, in the production.

Reports emerged last month about the spin-off series, reigniting speculation about the Duchess of Sussex’s potential involvement.

Exclusive sources close to the new show have now confirmed to DailyMail.com that Meghan has no plans to act in the series, although a character seemingly tailored for her was present.

While Meghan, 42, has chosen not to participate as an actor, insiders suggest she may have considered involvement in another capacity – as an executive producer through her production company Archewell.

However, NBC reportedly rejected this idea.

Despite Archewell sources denying any involvement, the insider claimed, “Meghan was clear that she didn’t want to be involved as an actor. But Archewell was trying to wiggle its way in as a production company on the spin-off.”

Meghan, renowned for her role as paralegal Rachel Zane in the original Suits series from 2011 to 2019, left the show in 2017 due to her relationship with Prince Harry.

Last summer, the legal drama unexpectedly became the most-streamed show in the US for 12 consecutive weeks after its addition to Netflix. Patrick J. Adams, who portrayed Meghan’s love interest in the series, fueled rumors of a reboot with deleted behind-the-scenes images.

In September, reports surfaced about the Suits spin-off, now titled Suits: LA, developed by creator Aaron Korsh.

Set in the same universe as the original but in Los Angeles, it introduces new characters, with production scheduled to start in March.

Aaron created a character, Erica, seemingly ideal for Meghan, described as an African-American career-focused Californian woman in her 30s. Meghan, reacting to the show’s resurgence, expressed her surprise and noted the enduring popularity of good shows.

While many original Suits stars reunited at the Golden Globes in January, Meghan was notably absent. Gina Torres admitted they didn’t have Meghan’s number, and the rest of the cast kept in touch via a WhatsApp group.

Patrick expressed his amazement at the show’s revived popularity and his willingness to reprise his role. The cast, excluding Meghan, also reunited for a Super Bowl commercial for E.l.f. Cosmetics.

As the Suits reboot gains momentum, Meghan and Harry, with a development deal at Netflix until September 2025, continue their involvement in film and series projects, including adaptations and unscripted works.

  • Prince Harry reportedly ‘wants his old life back’; Meghan allegedly ‘frustrated’

Prince Harry reportedly ‘wants his old life back’; Meghan allegedly ‘frustrated’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may no longer be in alignment regarding their departure from the United Kingdom.

Recent reports suggest that the Duke of Sussex, who celebrated his 39th birthday last month, desires a return to his previous life, while the Duchess of Sussex, aged 42, appears content with their new life in Montecito, California.

Entertainment commentator Mark Boardman disclosed to Ok! that Prince Harry longs to reconnect with aspects of his former life and notably misses his estranged friends.

This year, he missed out on Jack Mann’s wedding, which is seen as an indication of his disconnection from friends in the United States, as he doesn’t view them as his close friends.

“London is where all of Harry’s real friends are. Everyone they know in Hollywood, they aren’t his friends,” Boardman said.

“Prince Harry’s social life has notably shifted over the past decade,” Boardman told the pub.

Boardman also pointed out that the situation is further complicated by Prince Harry being evicted from Frogmore Cottage and no longer possessing a residence in the United Kingdom.

“He appears to have distanced himself from his college friends and lacks a permanent U.K. residence,” he continued. “During his visits to London, he typically resides in hotels and avoids public appearances. Undoubtedly, Prince Harry longs for his old friendships.”

Nevertheless, as per Boardman’s account, the former Suits actress is less than enthusiastic about her husband’s sentiments regarding the United Kingdom, particularly as she believes it may not positively impact his public image.

Meghan is frustrated that Harry wants his old life back,” he claimed. “Meghan loves Harry, but she wants to bring out the better side in him. And she’s quite clear on the roles that they should take together and they are trying to work better together on projects. People are eager to witness a transformed Harry, rather than a return to his previous partying lifestyle, which could lead to undesirable media attention.”

Speaking of his pre-Meghan lifestyle, Boardman suggested that Prince Harry may want to return to the U.K. from time to time because of his “strong relationships with childhood friends,” although he doesn’t think his wife will be too happy with his suggestion of “a boys’ weekend in London meeting up with some old Eton buddies.” He added: “He’s young at heart but he’s got someone to keep him in check and remind him who he is and what he’s supposed to be doing.”

And according to Boardman, Meghan thinks that Prince Harry is “supposed” to be there for her and their two children – Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2. He said: “Ultimately, Meghan wants Harry to be by her side to support her, to look after the kids and to get his life back on track. And anything going backwards is going to take away from that.”

  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spotted at Beyonce’s concert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spotted at Beyonce’s concert

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, made a notable appearance at Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour concert, held at California’s SoFi Stadium on September 1, as reported by The Independent.

The couple’s presence at the event swiftly generated widespread attention on social media, with fans of the royal duo sharing pictures from their outing.

One of the images, circulated on various platforms including X (formerly known as Twitter), captured Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, and a close friend, Abigail Spencer, accompanying the royal couple in a private box.

In line with Beyoncé’s request for her fans to wear silver attire for the performance, both Markle and Ragland were elegantly dressed in silver outfits, while Prince Harry complemented the color theme by donning a light grey blazer.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex initially crossed paths with the Grammy award-winning singer and her husband, Jay Z, at the London premiere of ‘The Lion King’ in 2019. Since then, their friendship has blossomed. Following the Sussexes’ widely-publicized interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Beyonce reached out to Meghan Markle with a supportive text message. In the Netflix docu-series ‘Harry & Meghan,’ Markle shared part of Beyonce’s message with Prince Harry, conveying her desire for Markle to feel safe and protected. Beyonce also expressed admiration for Markle’s bravery and vulnerability, believing she was chosen to break generational curses in need of healing.

Recently, Meghan Markle celebrated her 42nd birthday in the company of friends. However, speculation about a potential divorce with Prince Harry emerged when a photo from the celebration was shared on a friend’s Instagram story. In the photo, Markle was not wearing her engagement ring, though she still had her wedding band on. This led to rumors and discussions about the couple’s relationship status.

  • Spotify halts podcast deal with Harry and Meghan

Spotify halts podcast deal with Harry and Meghan

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have ended their podcast deal with Spotify.

In a joint statement, their company, Archewell Audio, and Spotify announced that they have mutually agreed to part ways and will not be renewing Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes, for a second season.

The podcast deal, estimated to be worth $25 million, was one of the major commercial agreements the couple secured after stepping back from their royal duties and relocating to the United States in 2020.

Prince Harry expressed his hope that the podcasts would bring forward diverse perspectives and unheard voices.

Archetypes, which ran for 12 episodes from August 2022, featured Meghan engaging in conversations with influential figures like Serena Williams and Mariah Carey, focusing on the stereotypes faced by women.

The podcast garnered recognition and won the top podcast award at the People’s Choice Award in Los Angeles in December.

While the specific reasons for the termination of the Spotify deal have not been disclosed, both parties expressed pride in the series they created together. The end of this partnership marks a change in the couple’s podcasting endeavors.

At the time, Meghan wrote: “I loved digging my hands into the process, sitting up late at night in bed, working on the writing and creative.

“And I loved digging deep into meaningful conversation with my diverse and inspiring guests, laughing and learning with them. It has been such a labour of love.”

The Wall Street Journal quoted an Archewell spokeswoman as saying Meghan was “continuing to develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform”.

When the agreement with Spotify was first announced, it was billed as a relationship which would produce several series – but in the end, only one materialised.

American media reports suggest the royal couple failed to meet the productivity benchmark required by Spotify, and therefore wouldn’t be receiving the full value of the contract.

Since splitting from the royal family, Harry and Meghan have looked to capitalise on their global fame in order to become financially independent.

That has included a multi-million dollar content deal with Netflix, and Harry’s huge contract with Penguin Books, which has already produced his autobiography Spare.

It follows Spotify’s announcement last week that it was cutting 200 jobs in its podcast division after a period of heavy investment in the medium, saying it was embarking on a “strategic realignment”.

  • Prince Harry and Meghan in ‘catastrophic chase’ that resulted in near multiple collisions

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were involved in a “near catastrophic” car crash in New York.

According to a spokesman for the Sussexes, the pair plus Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland were in New York on Tuesday when they were pursued by paparazzi.

They had just attended the Ms Foundation Women of Vision Awards in the city when its claimed the incident occurred.

According to reports, the trio left the awards at around 10pm on Tuesday night (12 noon Wednesday AEST) and were then followed by around 12 paparazzi.

The New York Post has reported that a cameraman hit a car and another almost ran over a police officer.

“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD (New York Police Department) officers,” a spokesman said.

“While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety.

“Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all in involved.”

The spokesman said the couple were “extremely upset and shaken,” according to the New York Post.

He added that the crash was “near catastrophic”.

Uninvited Meghan to stay home as Harry attends King’s coronation alone

Along with the couple’s two kids, the Duchess of Sussex will stay in the United States.

Their son Archie’s fourth birthday and the coronation both fall on the same day.

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, Prince Harry will attend the coronation of the King while Meghan will stay in California with their kids.

In a statement, it said: “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.

“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

Harry, who revealed his troubled relationship with the royal family in his controversial Netflix documentary and autobiography Spare, will be there to witness Charles and his stepmother the Queen Consort be crowned in Westminster Abbey on 6 May.

The news ends months of speculation about whether the couple would show up to the King’s big day, but will undoubtedly see Meghan accused of snubbing the monarch and the royal family.

The date of the coronation is also Archie’s fourth birthday.

In Harry’s controversial ghost-written memoir, he admitted to regular drug-taking and laid bare his frustrations with his family.

He claimed his brother William, now the Prince of Wales, had knocked him to the floor after calling the Duchess of Sussex “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”.

The duke claimed his father, now the King, put his own interests above Harry’s and was jealous of Meghan and Kate, and that the Queen Consort sacrificed him on “her personal PR altar”.

Archewell, Harry and Meghan’s charitable foundation, issued a near identical statement to Buckingham Palace confirming the duke will join guests at the coronation.

A spokesperson said: “The Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? ‘axed’ by Jeremy Clarkson’s disgusting remarks about Meghan Markle

    Who Wants To Be Millionaire?
has apparently been fired as a result of Jeremy Clarkson’s deplorable remarks regarding Meghan Markle.

Following its publication, the column—in which the broadcaster claimed to have dreamt of seeing Markle paraded through British towns and humiliated in front of the public—became Ipso’s most complained-about story, garnering more than 25,100 complaints.

In a later apology, Clarkson called his words “disgraceful” and expressed his “deep regret” for the article.
The piece was taken off from the internet after The Sun apologized and expressed remorse over its publishing.

It had previously been said that Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? would continue, with head of ITV Carlyn McCall, stressing last month that Clarkson’s views were ‘in no way endorsed’ by the broadcaster, while the network’s boss Kevin Lygo added: ‘I would say what he writes in a newspaper column… We have no control over what he says.’

However, Clarkson’s time on the show has now come to an end.

McCall confirmed to Variety that the upcoming season of the game show will be Clarkson’s last as host.

‘We have a contract. We’re contracted to this [season], so we will do that,’ she said.

‘And then we have no future commitments. And we haven’t made any statements about that.’

In Clarkson’s original article, he said that he hated the Duchess of Sussex on a ‘cellular level’.

‘At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, “Shame!” and throw lumps of excrement at her,’ he wrote at the time.

Following widespread backlash, the 62-year-old said that he emailed Markle and Prince Harry to apologise on Christmas Day.

‘I really am sorry. All the way from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. This is me putting my hands up. Its a mea culpa with bells on,’ he said in his lengthy statement.

He also added: ‘I was mortified and so was everyone else. My phone went mad. Very close friends were furious. Even my own daughter took to Instagram to denounce me.’

In response, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess said: ‘On December 25, 2022, Mr Clarkson wrote solely to Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex. The contents of this correspondence were marked Private and Confidential.’

They continued: ‘While a new public apology has been issued today by Mr Clarkson, what remains to be addressed is his long standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories, and misogyny.’

A spokesperson for ITV told Metro.co.uk: ‘As we have said before, ITV has a further series of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? contractually commissioned {which has now recorded}, and no further commissioning commitments beyond that currently’.

  • King Charles Coronation: Prince Harry, Meghan Markle still expected to attend event

King Charles Coronation: Prince Harry, Meghan Markle still expected to attend event

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are still expected to attend King Charles’ coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6, which also happens to be their son Archie’s fourth birthday, despite the fact that many royal experts have cautioned that their attendance could be a distraction. This is true despite all the confessions in “Spare” and the Netflix “Harry & Meghan” docuseries, which aired in December last year.

A royal insider reportedly told the Daily Mail that the Sussexes will “definitely” be at the coronation, but should not expect any apologies or reconciliation talks. “Members of the family have told me that both Harry and Meghan will definitely come. They fully expect that,” the insider said, adding, “And they should realize that there is only one subject that many members of the royal family will be willing to discuss… and that’s the weather.”

Another insider previously told The Independent that Prince Harry and Meghan would of course be invited, but noted that “it would be very hard” for them to be there “given everything that has been said.” Another source told The Mirror that Prince Harry doesn’t want to get on a plane to the U.K. until he has a summit with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William.

“Harry has been very clear and his position hasn’t wavered—he isn’t going to come if he feels the atmosphere will be as toxic as it was during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and funeral,” the source said. “He’s said he wants to reconcile with his family, and it’s their call, but so far nothing has changed.”

  • Apologize to Meghan – Prince Harry calls out Royal family

Apologize to Meghan – Prince Harry calls out Royal family

Prince Harry has called on his family to apologize to Meghan.

This week’s release of Spare has made history for the UK’s fastest-selling non-fiction book.

Among the claims made in the book, Prince Harry said his brother described Meghan as “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”. Prince Harry also accused his brother of physically attacking him.

“But the way I see it is, I’m willing to forgive you for everything you’ve done, and I wish you’d actually sat down with me, properly, and instead of saying I’m delusional and paranoid, actually sit down and have a proper conversation about this, because what I’d really like is some accountability, and an apology to my wife.”

Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace have both said they will not comment on its contents.

In an interview with the Telegraph’s Bryony Gordon – who travelled to California to speak to him – the Duke of Sussex said he was not “trying to collapse the monarchy”, but “trying to save them from themselves”.

Prince Harry said he left out some details because he knew his father and brother would never forgive him. He claims he had enough material for “two books.”
“I just don’t want the world to know” about some things, he told the Daily Telegraph.

He added that said there was information he revealed to his ghostwriter JP Moehringer “for context” but there was “absolutely no way” it could be included in the book.

“It could have been two books, put it that way,” he said, adding that the first draft was 800 pages, double the final 400-page manuscript.

“And there were other bits that I shared with JR, that I said: ‘Look, I’m telling you this for context but there’s absolutely no way I’m putting it in there.’”

He said it was impossible to tell his story without his family members in it, “because they play such a crucial part in it, and also because you need to understand the characters and personalities of everyone within the book”.

“But there are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don’t want the world to know. Because I don’t think they would ever forgive me,” he said.

“Now you could argue that some of the stuff I’ve put in there, well, they will never forgive me anyway.

He told the Telegraph that “no institution is immune to criticism and scrutiny”, claiming that if only 10% of the scrutiny put on him and his wife had been applied to the Royal Family “we wouldn’t be in this mess right now”.

He also spoke about therapy, describing it being “like clearing the windscreen, clearing away all the Instagram filters, all of life’s filters”.

And he said he feels a responsibility towards William’s children, “knowing that out of those three children, at least one will end up like me, the spare. And that hurts, that worries me”.

Montecito, home to Ellen DeGeneres, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, ordered to evacuate due to mudslides

Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and the entire community of Montecito was forced under mandatory evacuation orders by Santa Barbara County officials due to mudslides from a torrential storm.

Ellen DeGeneres shared a video on Instagram of an overflowing creek by her home as she prepared to evacuate from the affluent town roughly 90 miles north of Los Angeles.

“Montecito is under complete evacuation, the entire town,” she said. “This is the five-year anniversary from the fire and mudslides that killed so many people and people lost their homes, their lives. This is crazy … on the five-year anniversary. We are having unprecedented rain.”

The town is also home to Katy Perry, Chris Pratt, Ariana Grande and Jennifer Aniston. Montecito local, Rob Lowe, made his directorial debut with the 2020 movie “Madness in the Hills.” It delved into the devastating 2018 mudslides which killed 23 people after the Thomas Fire burned for more than one month in 2017.

Where will Meghan Markle and family go amid severe flood risk?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s neighbourhood has been evacuated.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s neighbourhood of Montecito has been dramatically evacuated due to its high flood risk amid high waters. Where will the Sussexes relocate to with their children, Archie and Lilibet?

According to the County of Santa Barbara website has issued an evacuation order for certain areas and they’ve issued a list of various shelter points in schools and community centers.

While it’s possible that the family could head to one of the locations, it’s more likely that they’d want somewhere private to retreat to until the weather dies down.

Luckily, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland resides a short distance away and could be an option for the Sussexes to spend some time

Doria’s home, which is two hours away, is located in the View Park-Windsor Hills neighbourhood of Los Angeles.

With only two bedrooms and two bathrooms it could be a bit of a squeeze, so perhaps Prince Harry and Meghan will seek a place to stay with one of their celebrity contacts stateside.

After all, they did stay at Tyler Perry’s idyllic mansion when they first moved over from Canada. The couple spent much of 2020 residing in the $15 million mega-mansion owned by Tyler in the Beverly Ridge Estate of LA, despite having never met him prior to his offer.

The risk of flooding isn’t the only regular weather issue witnessed at the Sussexes’ home. Water is a hot topic of debate in the couple’s area with the Montecito Water District website declaring it an “extreme drought” last summer, putting certain restrictions in place to avoid local shortage.

The types of rules that the royal couple are subject to include “no watering of lawns/landscapes in a manner that causes runoff and / or within 48 hours after measurable (1/4 inch) precipitation” and “exterior irrigation is allowed only between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m.”

  • Details from Prince William and Kate’s ‘second summit’ at Prince Harry and Meghan’s home revealed

Details from Prince William and Kate’s ‘second summit’ at Prince Harry and Meghan’s home revealed

The Duke of Sussex has lifted the lid on all the private discussions between himself and Meghan Markle with the Prince and Princess of Wales during the first years of their romance in his new book, Spare.

From the bridesmaids’ debacle to their first awkward encounter with the American actress, Prince Harry has given royal watchers an intimate insight into their fractured bond.

The account compounds his raw accusation on Sunday night’s ITV interview with Tom Bradby that William amd Kate had never got on with Meghan. Asked why this was, Harry gave these reasons:

Discussing the reports which suggested Meghan was “Duchess Difficult” and how she left Princess Kate in tears, it has now been revealed that the former “Fab Four” held a second summit at Nottingham Cottage to discuss the growing tension between the two couples.

In his searingly open memoir, Prince Harry revealed how they arranged the get-together on their “turf” on 10 December 2018, shortly after he and Meghan returned to the UK from their first royal tour in Australia.Prince Harry accuses Prince William of physical assault

“We all gathered in our little front annexe, and this time there was no small talk: Kate got things rolling straightaway by acknowledging that the stories in the papers about Meg making her cry were totally false,” he wrote.

The Duke claims that his sister-in-law Kate confirmed: “I know, Meghan, that I was the one who made you cry.”

Meghan appreciated the apology, but they were left wondering why the papers had written this and what was being done to correct the story.

Harry then revealed how Kate was left “flustered” while Prince William offered “supportive-sounding evasions”. However, Harry knew nothing would be done by the Palace as the monarchy “had to be protected” at all costs.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex then shifted the conversation to where had the story come from – who had leaked this to the press.

“We went around and around,” Harry explained. “The list of suspects became vanishingly small. Finally, finally Willy leaned back and conceded that, ahem, while we’d been on tour in Australia, he and Kate had gone to dinner with Pa and Camilla.”

“And, alas, [Willy] said sheepishly, he ‘might’ve’ let it slip and that there’s been strife between the two couples.

“I put my hand over my face. Meg froze. A heavy silence fell. So now we knew. I told Willy you of all people should’ve known. He nodded. He knew. More silence. It was time for them to go.”

  • ‘There was a lot of stereotyping’ about Meghan Markle – Prince Harry

‘There was a lot of stereotyping’ about Meghan Markle – Prince Harry

The first of Prince Harry’s television interviews to promote his contentious new book, Spare, has already aired in the UK.

The prince and journalist Tom Bradby had a sit-down interview, which ITV aired on Sunday. Harry’s rift with the royal family, his learning of his mother Princess Diana’s passing in a 1997 car accident, and his hopes that he and wife Meghan Markle would collaborate closely with Prince William and Kate Middleton—a dream he admits was quickly dashed—were all topics of discussion during the men’s conversation.

Harry, 38, claimed that when accompanying his brother and sister-in-law on outings, he had occasionally been a “third wheel.”

“I had put a lot of hope in the idea that, you know, it’d be William and Kate and me and whoever,” he told Bradby. “I thought … the four of us would, you know, bring me and William closer together, we could go out and do work together, which I did a lot as the third wheel to them, which was fun at times but also, I guess, slightly awkward at times as well.”

But after meeting his future wife, then starring on the series Suits, he realized that things weren’t going to go quite so smoothly.

“I don’t think they were ever expecting me to get … into a relationship with someone like Meghan who had, you know, a very successful career,” Prince Charles’s younger son shared, adding that Meghan’s outsider status and fame led to a “a lot of stereotyping.”

“There was a lot of stereotyping that was happening, that I was guilty of as well, at the beginning,” Harry said, noting that this caused a “barrier” to his family “welcoming” the actress into their circle.

When asked to specify what stereotypes Meghan , who divorced producer Trevor Engelson in 2014, was subjected to, Harry responded: “American actress, divorced, biracial.”

“There’s all different parts to that and what that can mean but if you are, like a lot of my family do, if you are reading the press, the British tabloids, at the same time as living the life, then there is a tendency where you could actually end up living in the tabloid bubble rather than the actual reality,” he continued.

Prior to his 2018 wedding, Harry said that his older brother “aired some worries.”

It was the British press, he said, that branded the two royal couples as “the fab four,” something that bred “competition” rather than connection.

“The idea of the four of us being together was always a hope for me,” he said. “Before it was Meghan, whoever it was going to be, I always hoped that the four of us would get on. But very quickly it became Meghan versus Kate. And that, when it plays out so publicly, you can’t hide from that, right? Especially when within my family you have the newspapers laid out pretty much in every single palace and house that is around.”

The interview also saw Harry clarifying to longtime confidant Bradby that he and Meghan never accused the royal family of racism, despite revealing in their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey that there had been speculation as to what their son Archie’s skin color might be. “Having lived within that family,” Harry said, he attributed the comments to “unconscious bias” rather than racism.

Meghan went to Princess Diana’s gravestone asking for ‘clarity and guidance’ – Prince Harry reveals

Prince Harry has described how Meghan Markle, who was then dating him, knelt beside Princess Diana’s grave and prayed for guidance.

He remembered the first time she visited Diana’s final burial place on the Althorp estate in his explosive memoir Spare, which went on sale early in Spain yesterday.

On the 20th anniversary of his mother’s passing, Harry recalled how they traveled by boat to the island where she is buried.

He had a moment to himself to contemplate before he realized Meghan too needed some alone time.

‘When I returned, she was on her knees with her eyes closed and her palms flat against the stone,’ he said, adding that she’d told him she’d asked Diana for ‘clarity and guidance’.

The visit happened in August 2017, around a year after the pair started dating.

When he visited the Queen’s body at Balmoral hours after she passed away, Prince Harry says his farewell words to her.

At her childhood home of Althorp House in Northamptonshire, the late Princess was put to rest in 1997. The burial was rededicated by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 2017 in advance of the 20th anniversary of her passing.

Following his father’s passing in 1992, Earl Spencer received the family estate of Althorp, where he now resides with his third wife, Karen, and their daughter, Lady Charlotte.

Prince Harry has mentioned how Meghan makes him think of his late mother.

In the couple’s bombshell Netflix series, released last month, he said: ‘So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mum.

‘She has the same compassion. She has the same empathy. She has the same confidence. She has this warmth about her.’

In a preview for his interview with Tom Bradby of ITV, Harry made some brand-new revelations today.

The Duke of Sussex described William’s ‘red mist’ in a fight over Meghan before admitting that he took cannabis, magic mushrooms and cocaine in another clip from his ITV interview, out on Sunday.

In addition, Harry insisted to Mr. Bradby that he wants to make amends with his family, despite the fact that the King has been hurt by his memoir and that it has caused the Royal Family’s deepest crisis since the passing of his mother in 1997.

  • ITV boss: Clarkson’s Meghan comments ‘awful’ but host will remain

ITV’s head of media and entertainment has called Jeremy Clarkson‘s remarks about the Duchess of Sussex in a column for the Sun “awful.”

As the host of the game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Kevin Lygo stated that there were “at the moment” no plans to replace him.

He claimed that Mr. Clarkson’s remarks did not reflect the principles of ITV.

After writing on Friday that he “hated [Meghan] on a cellular level,” Clarkson received more than 20,000 complaints to the press regulator.

The column has now been removed from the Sun’s website, at Clarkson’s request, and replaced with a tweet in which he says he is “horrified” after “causing so much hurt”.

In his message to followers, posted on Monday, he described a reference he made to a scene in Game of Thrones as “clumsy”.

Speaking at a Broadcasting Press Guild event in London on Tuesday, Mr Lygo said he had “no control” over what Mr Clarkson wrote in his newspaper columns.

“We hire him as a consummate broadcaster of the most famous quiz on television, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” he said.

“So it’s not quite in our wheelhouse but I don’t know what he was thinking when he wrote that. It was awful.”

    Calls for apology

Conservative MP Caroline Nokes has written to Sun editor Victoria Newton calling for action to be taken against Mr Clarkson, and for an “unreserved apology” to be issued to the duchess.

The letter has been signed by more than 60 MPs.

SNP MP John Nicolson, who sits on the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, has written to chief executive of ITV Dame Carolyn McCall asking for Mr Clarkson to be removed as a host of the quiz show.

Mr Nicolson said he had also written to Amazon, which broadcasts Clarkson’s Farm and The Grand Tour, where the presenter appears alongside James May and Richard Hammond.

In a call to Shelagh Fogarty’s Monday show on LBC, the mother of late television presenter Caroline Flack condemned the comments.

Responding to Mr Clarkson saying he would like to see the duchess humiliated, Christine Flack said it had “upset her so much that Jeremy Clarkson was not only allowed to think that but to put it in print”.

Caroline Flack’s death in February 2020 was ruled a suicide by the coroner.

An inquest in August 2020 heard “her trauma was played out in the national press” and that was “incredibly distressing for her.”

Writing in his original column, Clarkson said: “At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she [Meghan] is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her.

“Everyone who’s my age thinks the same way,” he added. “But what makes me despair is that younger people, especially girls, think she’s pretty cool. They think she was a prisoner of Buckingham Palace, forced to talk about nothing but embroidery and kittens.”

His column followed the release of the last three episodes of Netflix’s docuseries Harry & Meghan on Thursday.

  • Prince Harry finally reveals how he fell in love with his wife, Meghan Markle

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry has opened up on how he met and fell in love with Meghan Markle.

According to him, he met his wife through Instagram.

The couple spoke about how they met on the first episode of the ‘Harry and Meghan’ docuseries, which aired on Netflix on Thursday.

According to Harry, the first time he saw Meghan was in 2016. He said he was scrolling through his Instagram feed and stumbled across a Snapchat video of a friend of his with the former US actress.

The picture, Harry said, was that of her using a dog filter that had fluffy ears and a long tongue.

“Meghan and I met over Instagram. I was scrolling through my feed and someone who was a friend had this video of the two of them, it was like a Snapchat,” he said.

“That was the first thing and I was like, who is that?”

On her part, Meghan said it was a mutual friend of theirs that ended up mailing her that the prince was asking about her and then set up their meeting.

The couple tied the knot in 2018. The union has since then been in the public eye over the wave of controversies involving the British royal family.

In 2020, Harry and his wife were stripped of their royal titles as well as public funds associated with royal duties.

The same year, the couple left the United Kingdom for the US after their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey wherein they opened up about their struggles with the royal family.

However, following the death of Queen Elizabeth, their children inherited the title of Prince Archie and Princess Lillibert of Sussex.

  • Prince Harry blasts the UK media for ‘exploitation’ and ‘bribery’

The couple criticises the paparazzi’s persistent harassment throughout the first three episodes of Netflix’s “Harry & Meghan” docuseries, with the Duke of Sussex claiming that being swarmed by cameras makes up most of his early memories.

Harry recalled how the “Paparazzi used to harass us to the point where we had to be forced into smiling and answering questions to their travelling press pack,” and that made me feel really uncomfortable from the get-go.” Harry said.

He continued by saying that he had always been told not to respond to cameras and to never “feed into it.”

And while the press were allegedly supposed to give him and his brother Prince William privacy while attending school, it never worked and there was always photographers.

Harry said most of his earliest memories were of being swarmed by the media.

“I remember thinking how am I ever going to find someone who is willing and capable to be able to withstand all the baggage that comes with being with me?” he said.

Harry, whose ex-girlfriends include Chelsey Davy and Cressida Bonas, claimed that women would second-guess their relationship with him due to the press surrounding the relationship.

“Every relationship that I had within a matter of weeks or months were splattered all over the newspapers and that person’s family harassed and their lives turned upside down,” he said.

“When I got to meet M, I was terrified of her being driven away by the media. The same media that had driven so many other people away from me.”

Markle, meanwhile, claimed in the second episode of the documentary that paparazzi paid her neighbors in Toronto — where she filmed her show “Suits” in the early days of her relationship with Harry — to live-stream her backyard.

Harry has previously slammed the UK press as “toxic.” Netflix

Harry and Markle have been vocal about their disdain for the UK press since they quit the royal family in March 2020, even claiming it was the “toxic” media that led them to leave.

“We all know what the British press can be like and it was destroying my mental health,” he told James Corden in 2021. “So I did what any husband and what any father would do — I need to get my family out of here.

  • Duchess of Sussex: Meghan faced very real threats, according to the Met chief

The Duchess of Sussex faced “disgusting and very real” threats while working as a royal, according to the outgoing Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner.

Neil Basu stated that he could understand Meghan feeling “under threat all the time.”

People have been charged in connection with the threats, he told Channel 4 News.

Prince Harry, who will move to California with Meghan in 2020, stated last year that he did not feel safe in the UK.

The couple have often spoken about the abuse they received before they left and how it affected their mental health. As early as 2016, after the couple went public with their relationship, Prince Harry issued a statement attacking social media trolls for targeting Meghan.

Neil Basu – the former head of counter-terrorism policing in England – was speaking to Channel 4 News in his final interview as assistant commissioner.

“If you’d seen the stuff that was written and you were receiving it, the kind of rhetoric that’s online, if you don’t know what I know, you would feel under threat all of the time,” he said.

When asked if there had been genuine threats to Meghan from the far-right, he added: “Absolutely.

“We had teams investigating it. People have been prosecuted for those threats.”

He said he had previously spoken publicly about the threat of “extreme right-wing terrorism”, saying it was the “fastest growing” threat that he dealt with.

“When I started in counter-terrorism in 2015, it was about 6% of our total workload. When I left 15, 16 months ago, it was over 20% of our workload.”

Mr Basu, who is Britain’s most senior officer of colour, was also in charge of royal protection.

He became an officer at the Met in 1992 before rising through the ranks and has been outspoken about race and policing over the years.

He added: “I speak about race because I know something about race because I’m a 54-year-old mixed-race man.”

Mr Basu also criticised the government during his interview, saying he found “some of the commentary coming out of the Home Office inexplicable”.

He had been asked about comments by Home Secretary Suella Braverman saying that it was her “dream” to see asylum seekers removed to Rwanda under the government’s policy.

“It is unbelievable to hear a succession of very powerful politicians who look like this talking in language that my father would have remembered from 1968. It’s horrific.”

In response to his comments, a Home Office spokesman said: “The Home Secretary expects forces to take a zero tolerance approach to racism within their workplace.

“But the Home Secretary is also very clear about the need to manage our borders effectively and have an asylum system that works for those in genuine need, as are the British people.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family in 2020 to carve out their own path in the US.

After leaving the Royal Family, Meghan gave an Oprah interview in which she revealed she felt suicidal while a serving royal.

  • Meghan Markle reportedly has had a ‘dramatic change of heart’ and wants to keep her royal titles now

Meghan Markle has had a “dramatic change of heart regarding titles,” a royal expert has claimed, which goes against what she said in her bombshell Oprah interview back in March 2021, whereby she said that titles weren’t important to her.

Meghan Markle wants to keep royal title after realizing how beneficial it can be

Royal commentator Neil Sean told The Daily Express that the Duchess of Sussex, 41, had the alleged change of heart after speaking with Prince Harry’s cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, as they helped her realize just how important and beneficial having those titles can be. And she reportedly wants to do whatever it takes to hang on to her Duchess of Sussex title to ensure that her and Prince Harry’s children – three-year-old son Archie and one-year-old daughter Lilibet – are offered titles of their own.

Harry and Meghan are very, very keen to cling onto those royal titles. After much deliberation, Meghan decided that the titles would be a good thing, not just for her but for both her children too,” Sean said.

“Meghan has become very friendly with senior members of the monarchy, predominantly Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice. After this, Meghan realized how useful a title can be, particularly when you want to move in the correct circles,” he added, in reference to Prince Andrew, the Duke of York and Fergie, the Duchess of York’s daughters. “That is the reason why they want to clutch hold of titles. It’s really down to the fact that after befriending Beatrice and Eugenie, she saw how useful those titles are to them. Their father, Prince Andrew, had to push very hard to make sure his children got those titles.”

f you cast your minds back to the infamous Oprah Winfrey interview, Meghan said: “All the grandeur surrounding this stuff is an attachment I don’t personally have. I’ve been a waitress, an actress, a princess, a Duchess – I’ve always still just been Meghan, right? I’ve been clear on who I am, independent of all that stuff, and the most important title I’ll ever have is mom. I know that.”

However, she and Prince Harry have since made it very clear how important a royal title would be for their children, especially because of the security and protection that comes along with it. So we never really believed that Meghan would snub another royal title if it was given to her or her children!

Prince Harry And Meghan’s Children’s Titles

The future of Prince Harry and Meghan’s children’s titles is currently up in the air, as many sources are hinting that King Charles III is waiting for Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir to be published in January, 2023 to make his decision about his grandchildren’s titles, depending on how much he trashes the royal family.

“Charles has made various threats to Meghan and Harry and warned them that if they go ahead, they will find themselves ostracized in a way they cannot believe. And so they are worried,” royal author Tom Bower told OK, in reference to their Netflix docu-series and Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare. “I do not think their children will get titles if they go ahead and slander the royal family. But they have also got to consider their own titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, could be taken away by Charles if they misbehave,” he added.

  • Meghan Markle shares the advice she received before her royal wedding from a ‘very Iinfluential’ woman

In the latest episode of her Archetypes podcast, the Duchess of Sussex welcomed Jameela Jamil, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Ilana Glazer to talk about why activism from women often draws criticism.

Meghan Markle is sharing the message she received from a “very, very influential and inspiring woman” ahead of her royal wedding to Prince Harry.

On a new episode of her Archetypes podcast, released via Spotify on Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex welcomed Jameela Jamil, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Ilana Glazer to talk about why activism from women often draws criticism. To close out the episode, Meghan recalled a piece of advice she received “just a few days” before her May 2018 nuptials from “a very, very influential and inspiring woman, who for her own privacy I won’t share who it was with you.”

“She said to me, I know that your life is changing, but please don’t give up your activism. Don’t give up because it means so much to women and girls,” Meghan, 41, said.

“And I kept doing the work for women and girls because it matters, yes. But also because she encouraged me to do so,” she said. “And the collective voice of all of us telling each other that matters is perhaps the point. There’s safety in numbers. But there’s also strength in numbers.”

Meghan’s fight for women started at a young age, notably when she called out a Procter & Gamble commercial that advertised its Ivory dishwashing soap solely to women. “I don’t think it’s right for kids to grow up thinking these things, that just mom does everything,” the then 11-year-old Meghan said during an interview with Nick News.

Just a few months ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry, she used her platform to encourage people to listen to women at an event alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton.

“I hear a lot of people speaking about girls’ empowerment and women’s empowerment — you will hear people saying they are helping women find their voices,” she said in 2018 at the first annual Royal Foundation Forum. “I fundamentally disagree with that because women don’t need to find their voices, they need to be empowered to use it and people need to be urged to listen.”

Supporting women remained a key cause in Meghan’s charity work after becoming a member of the British royal family, including becoming a patron of Smart Works, an organization that helps unemployed and vulnerable women regain the confidence they need to succeed at job interviews and return to work.

After Meghan and Prince Harry stepped back as senior members of the royal family and relocated to her home state of California in 2020, the Duchess of Sussex has continued to advocate for women, from wearing a shirt with the words “Women, Life, Freedom” written in Farsi to call attention to the ongoing protests in Iran at the Women@Spotify event in October to a teenage girl with a virtual mentoring session in March 2021.

  • ’43 percent Nigerian’: Meghan Markle discovers after genealogy test

In the latest episode of her bombshell podcast, Archetypes, the Duchess of Sussex discusses her genetic heritage and how she wants to delve deeper into her roots.

Meghan Markle revealed details about her genetic heritage in the latest episode of her bombshell podcast, Archetypes.

Unpicking the “Angry Black Woman” stereotype in a thought-provoking discussion with Nigerian American actress and comedian Issa Rae, writer Ziwe Fumudoh and professor Emily Bernards, The Duchess of Sussex told listeners that she took a genealogy test which revealed that she is 43% Nigerian.

“I just had my genealogy done a couple of years ago,” Meghan explains, as her guests eagerly ask her to share what the results entailed.

The Duchess then proudly says “I’m 43% Nigerian” to the shock of Ziwe, who shouts “No way!”.

    Meghan Markle
Meghan says she wants to explore her heritage further after getting the results

Meghan can be heard giggling over her guest’s excitement, as she opens up about her roots during the major podcast moment.

“Are you serious? This is huge. Igbo, Yoruba, do we know?” the writer excitedly probes, desperate to know more about Meghan’s findings.

The Duchess of Sussex then tells her listeners: “I’m going to start to dig deeper into all of this because anyone that I’ve told, especially Nigerian women, are just like, what?”

After absorbing the bombshell revelation, Nigerian American Ziwe continues to joke that the Duchess looks like ‘her aunt Ouzo’ in a heart-warming clip between the pair.

A strong advocate for fighting against racism and prejudice, this is the first time that Meghan has opened up about her ancestral background on the public stage.

In this week’s episode, the Duchess of Sussex also opens up about the stereotypes of Black female roles in TV as she draws on her experience as a former actress.

The revelation comes after the Duchess’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, where she and Prince Harry alleged that a member of the royal family made racist remarks about their son Archie’s skin colour when they were working royals.

Meghan and Harry signed a lucrative deal with the audio streaming giant Spotify to host and produce podcasts, estimated to be worth around £18 million, in late 2020.

Archetypes were launched with the aim of investigating “labels that try to hold women back” through conversations between Meghan and historians, experts and women who have experienced being typecast.

In last week’s episode, she chatted to Paris Hilton about the stereotype of the “bimbo” and revealed that she felt “objectified” during her stint as a briefcase girl on Deal or No Deal.

  • Meghan Markle was allegedly ‘obsessed’ with making right rumor involving Kate Middleton

If there’s one story that never seems to simmer down is the Meghan Markle-Kate Middleton crying incident around the time of her wedding. Did Meghan make Kate cry as it was reported in the press, or did Kate make Meghan cry as she stated in her Oprah Winfrey interview?

That dramatic incident is getting a full deep-dive in an upcoming book by Valentine Low, Courtiers: Intrigue, Ambition, and the Power Players Behind the House of Windsor. While the palace reportedly wanted to avoid discussion around “personal tittle-tattle” stories in the royal family, Meghan “became obsessed” with setting the record straight, per an excerpt obtained by the Mail Online, via The Sun.

When news of the disagreement first leaked, the Duchess of Sussex hoped the palace would “put something out denying the story” — and we don’t blame her, that’s how it would be handled in Hollywood. Of course, the story took on a life of its own in the press, even though that was the exact reason the communications office gave her for not making a statement.

It’s understandable why Meghan felt helpless in this situation, especially if her side of the story is accurate. If she didn’t do anything wrong, then why would the palace let her take the blame? It pits the two women against each other and likely made Meghan feel like only Kate would be protected behind palace walls. It’s only human to have those feelings, and the palace should have set the record straight the moment it leaked to the press.

  • Why there have been arguments over titles for Archie and Lilibet behind the scenes

Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana’s names have not been changed, despite the fact that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s two children may be eligible for royal titles when King Charles became the monarch in 1917.

After the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, her eldest son Charles ascended to the throne and declared his wife Camilla to be the next monarch.

Additionally, Charles declared that his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton and son-in-law Prince William will succeed to the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s children were still referred to as “Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor” and “Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor” despite an update to the royal family website to reflect these changes.

Behind the scenes, there have been arguments over titles for Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.

Under current guidelines, grandchildren of a monarch could be princes or princesses. A rule established by King George V after he issued a Letters Patent in 1917 read: “…the grandchildren of the sons of any such sovereign in the direct male line (save only the eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales) shall have and enjoy in all occasions the style and title enjoyed by the children of dukes of these our realms.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.BEN STANSALL/POOL/AFP via Getty Images

As monarch, King Charles III could change that rule, but it’s unlikely he’ll choose to do so.

A spokesperson said that nothing would be decided or said about the issue while the family was in mourning, a period that lasts one week past the funeral.

A source previously told PEOPLE: “Archie will almost certainly become a prince one day. Charles isn’t going to disavow his grandson, so it’s hugely unlikely that he’ll change the rules to stop it happening. The Charles also isn’t going to say that Archie can’t use the title any time soon.”

    Chris Jackson/Getty; Taylor Hill/WireImage

When Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, were married in May 2018, the Queen gave them the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Archie was entitled to the “courtesy title” of Earl of Dumbarton upon his birth. However, the couple announced that they had not given him a courtesy title and he would be known as Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. Down the line, Archie could be given the secondary Sussex title, before inheriting the dukedom.

The couple relocated to California after stepping back as senior members of the royal family in 2020.

During Meghan and Prince Harry’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duchess of Sussex revealed there was a conversation about titles ahead of Archie’s birth.

“They were saying they didn’t want him to be a prince or princess, which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn’t going to receive security,” Meghan said. “This went on for the last few months of our pregnancy where I was going, hold on for a second.”

Meghan went on to say she would have accepted a title for Archie if it “meant he was going to be safe.”

“And it’s not our decision to make,” she said. “Even though I have a lot of clarity of what comes with the titles good and bad…that is their birthright to then make a choice about.”

In his first speech as monarch, King Charles mentioned his younger son and daughter-in-law.

“I want also to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas,” he said.

  • Prince Harry’s children did not attend Queen’s funeral for this reason

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry put on a united front with the rest of the royal family as they attended Queen Elizabeth’s funeral at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19th.

However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opted not to bring their two children to the service for Her Majesty, who passed away at the age of 96. And the reason they decided to keep their brood at their Montecito home in California rather than have them attend their great-grandmother’s funeral is simply because of their age.

With their son Archie being three and their daughter Lili only one year old, they are too young to attend and understand royal events, especially those as solemn as the Queen’s passing.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate Middleton, also decided to leave their youngest son, Prince Louis, at home while their two eldest children, Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte, 7, were in attendance.

According to Hello!, there is no official rule preventing children under a certain age from attending the funeral of a Sovereign – and it is up to the parents to make the decision on whether they can handle such events.

It is unclear who Archie and Lilibet are staying with back home in California, but Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland may be stepping in to help with childcare. Meghan has also previously gushed about the children’s “amazing” nanny named Lauren.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle arrived with her husband, Prince Harry, Duke Of Sussex, at the Queen’s funeral on Monday. This is the first time Meghan has attended a royal or state funeral. She missed Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021 as she was pregnant with her and Harry’s second child, Lilibet, at the time.

In the days following the Queen’s death on 8 September, Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry – who moved to California and stepped back from their position as senior royals in 2020 – reunited with Prince William and Kate Middleton to attend several official events.

Meghan chose to show her respect for her husband’s grandmother by placing her hit Spotify podcast, Archetypes, on hold. Her coming cover for Variety‘s Women in Power issue and gala has also been postponed.

  • Queen Elizabeth gives Kate Middleton bulk of her $110M collection while Meghan, Camilla get nothing

Queen Elizabeth made some last-minute changes to her will to make sure Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte would get the bulk of her jewellery collection worth $110M, a new report claimed.

Sources told Star Magazine, in its latest edition, that Queen Elizabeth has been rethinking her plans amid her health issues.

The monarch has been rarely seen in public lately, but she joined Princess Anne in opening a new building at Thames Hospice in Maidenhead, England.

At the time, Queen Elizabeth donned a blue floral frock and sported her signature necklace of pearls and a large, bejewelled brooch that belonged to her personally and not to the Crown. It is said to be an important distinction, especially for her heirs.

The jewels belonging to the Royal Collection, part of the regalia used in state ceremonies, will automatically pass to Prince Charles during his reign as King.

Why Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Family don’t have last names

However, the personal pieces of Queen Elizabeth, which are more than 300 items are hers to give as she chooses.

An unnamed source told the entertainment news outlet, “She’s been focusing on her beloved pieces and who deserves what.

“The whispers are that she’s made some last-minute changes to her will that’ll be a shocking surprise for her heirs.”

Insiders believe that Kate Middleton will be the big winner. Queen Elizabeth is rumoured to hand over some of her baubles to Princess Anne and Prince Andrew’s daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

The unnamed informant claimed, “Kate Middleton and her daughter, Princess Charlotte are likely to get the bulk of the collection. Kate is clearly the family favourite.”

Queen Elizabeth II tests positive for Covid

Camilla Parker-Bowles, who will wear the crown before Kate Middleton, has reportedly never been close with Queen Elizabeth and should not expect more than a token.

A tattler said, “She’d never say it, of course, but it’s one of the reasons Camilla resents Kate.”

Star Magazine noted that Prince Charles’ second wife could take some comfort that it’s the other duchess, Meghan Markle, and her daughter, Lilibet, who could really end up getting the royal shaft.

An unnamed source said, “There’s very good chance Queen won’t leave either of them any jewels of value.”

However, given Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to move to the U.S., “it’s not surprising, since they’re not working members of the royal family anymore. But, it would be a real slap in the face.

Queen Elizabeth has yet to report to the claims that she is taking account of her heirs, with more than $110M worth of jewellery in her private collection.

So, avid supporters of the British monarch should take all these unverified reports with a huge grain of salt until everything is proven true and correct.

  • Meghan interview: It takes effort to forgive, says Duchess of Sussex

The Duchess of Sussex has spoken of the importance of forgiveness in a wide-ranging interview with a US magazine.

Meghan, 41, told The Cut “it takes a lot of effort to forgive” when asked about her relationship with the Royal Family, and her own relatives.

“I’ve really made an active effort, especially knowing I can say anything,” she said.

She also spoke about the Duke of Sussex’s relationship with his father, the Prince of Wales.

Asked by journalist Alison P Davis about the impact of her privacy case against the Mail on Sunday, Meghan said: “Harry said to me, ‘I lost my dad in this process.’

“It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision.”

A spokeswoman for the duchess later told BBC News that Meghan was referring to her own father, from whom she is estranged, and was saying she hoped the same would not happen to her husband.

A source close to Prince Charles told the PA news agency he would be saddened if Harry felt their relationship was lost, adding: “The Prince of Wales loves both his sons”.

Davis, a features writer who has previously interviewed celebrities such as Jada Pinkett Smith and Lena Dunham, asked Meghan if she thought there was room for forgiveness between her and her royal in-laws and her own family.

The duchess responded: “I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive.

“But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I’ve really made an active effort, especially knowing that I can say anything.”

In the 6,450-word interview, Meghan also:

Prince Harry told Davis he did not believe some members of the Royal Family could live and work together as closely as he and his wife do.

The article described the Sussexes running their company Archewell while sitting at a single desk in a shared home office.

“Most people that I know and many of my family, they aren’t able to work and live together,” Prince Harry said.

“It’s actually really weird because it’d seem like a lot of pressure. But it just feels natural and normal.”

The 6,450-word interview appears in US magazine The Cut, part of New York magazine.

Prince Harry, 37, has previously said his father, Prince Charles, “stopped taking my calls” after the couple stepped back as senior working royals in 2020.

Under the arrangement, the couple gave up their Royal Highness titles, and became able to work to become financially independent. Harry retained the title of prince through birth.

Prior to stepping back, the Sussexes reportedly set out a vision for continuing to be working royals in the Commonwealth.

Meghan told The Cut she believed this proposal was not “reinventing the wheel”.

She added: “That, for whatever reason, is not something that we were allowed to do, even though several other members of the family do that exact thing.”

The Sussexes, who now live in Montecito, California, and also have a one-year-old daughter, Lilibet, have signed deals with media brands Spotify and Netflix since leaving the UK.

The Cut interview was part of a promotion effort for the duchess’ Spotify podcast, Archetypes, which launched last week.

  • Meghan’s new claim is ‘a smack at Harry and a punch to the Royal Family’

Royal commentator Angela Levin has lashed out at Meghan Markle after the Duchess claimed she didn’t “ever remember personally feeling the negative connotation behind the word ambitious until I started dating my now husband”.

Angela said that the Royal Family is about ambition “in sense of duty and giving” and not “about getting to the top”.

“The royal author continued: “She thought it was normal to be ambitious and only when she started dating Harry did she realise that it was not welcomed.”

“My goodness, that is a smack at Harry and a punch to the Royal Family. Harry told her about life in the Royal Family, but she obviously did not want to listen,” said the commentator.

Ms Levin also blasted Meghan for her claim in the podcast that she had to go on another royal engagement in South Africa after she heard there was a fire in Archie’s room.

Taking to twitter on Wednesday, Levin wrote: Meghan outraged that she had to go on another royal engagement in S. Africa after she heard there was a fire in baby Archie’s room. Nasty to hear but as an actress doesn’t she know the show must go on. Luckily he wasn’t there but odd it was never leaked to the press.”

  • Meghan Markle says listeners can expect ‘the Real Me’ on new podcast: ‘I’m just excited to be myself’

The Duchess of Sussex released the first episode of Archetypes, featuring guest Serena Williams.

    Meet Meghan Markle!

In a promo for her new Spotify podcast Archetypes, which debuted on the platform Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex shared what her listeners will hear.

Sitting on a couch in front of a microphone, Meghan says, “People should expect the real me in this, and probably the me that they’ve never gotten to know — certainly not in the past few years, where everything is through the lens of the media as opposed to, ‘Hey, it’s me.’ “

“I’m just excited to be myself and talk and be unfiltered and…yeah, it’s fun,” she adds.

Meghan, 41, spoke with longtime friend and longtime pal and tennis champion Serena Williams for the podcast’s first episode, tackling the double standard for men and women when it comes to ambition.

“I loved talking about so many important topics with my dear friend Meghan as her first guest on #archetypes for @spotify!” Serena, 40, captioned an Instagram photo featuring Meghan and her daughter, Olympia. “It’s out now and worth the listen, especially if you’re ambitious.”

“I don’t remember ever personally feeling the negative connotation behind the word ‘ambitious’ until I started dating my now-husband,” Meghan shared.

Reflecting on life in the limelight as Prince Harry’s partner, she continued, “and apparently ambition is a terrible, terrible thing, for a woman that is — according to some. So, since I’ve felt the negativity behind it, it’s really hard to un-feel it. I can’t unsee it, either, in the millions of girls and women who make themselves smaller — so much smaller — on a regular basis.”

Meghan also got personal about motherhood, revealing for the first time that a fire broke out in son Archie’s nursery during the couple’s royal tour to Africa in 2019. Although Archie was ready to go down for his nap, his nanny Lauren decided to bring him downstairs with her while she grabbed a snack — the same time that the heater in Archie’s room caught on fire.

“He was supposed to be sleeping in there,” Meghan said.

The Duchess of Sussex, who welcomed daughter Lilibet Diana in June 2021, said they then “had to leave him and go do another official engagement.”

Serena replied, “I couldn’t have done that. I would have said, ‘Uh-uh.’”

  • Serena Williams shares sweet photo with daughter Olympia, bestie Meghan Markle

Serena Williams turned her appearance on Meghan Markle‘s new podcast Archetypes into a family affair.

On Tuesday, the tennis superstar, 40, shared a black-and-white photo on Instagram of her posing with her 4-year-old daughter Olympia and Markle, 41, while teasing her interview on Markle’s podcast.

“I loved talking about so many important topics with my dear friend Meghan as her first guest on #archetypes for @spotify,” she captioned the snap. “It’s out now and worth the listen, especially if you’re ambitious ❤️”

In the premiere episode, the duo discussed the double standard society sets for women who chase their dreams.

In the opening of the episode, which dropped Tuesday, Markle said that the nuns of Immaculate Heart, the all-girls Catholic school in Los Angeles she attended from sixth through twelfth grades, always empowered the students to go after what they wanted.

“This feminist ideology trickled down into nearly every aspect of my education. It’s probably safe to say into every aspect of my life,” she explained. “This message to me and my classmates was clear: our futures as young women were limitless. Ambition? That was the whole point!”

“So I don’t remember ever personally feeling the negative connotation behind the word ‘ambitious’ until I started dating my now-husband,” she said.

    Pool/Samir Hussein/WireImage

Reflecting on life in the limelight as Prince Harry’s partner, she continued, “and apparently ambition is a terrible, terrible thing, for a woman that is — according to some. So, since I’ve felt the negativity behind it, it’s really hard to un-feel it. I can’t unsee it, either, in the millions of girls and women who make themselves smaller — so much smaller — on a regular basis.”

Introducing Williams as “someone who embodies the spirit of ambition,” the two addressed the negative light society views ambitious women.

“Often women are definitely put in these different boxes when we are ambitious or when we do have goals or when we reach our goals, it’s a negative connotation on how we reach the goals,” Williams said.

Noting that the notion even applies to “little girls in a school room,” Markle pointed out that if a young girl “is ambitious or raises her hand more,” she’s likely to be labeled “bossy” because of her gender, to which Williams agreed.

Markle and Williams first met at the Super Bowl in 2010 and immediately hit it off. They also appeared together at the 2014 Super Bowl, competing in DIRECTV’s Celebrity Beach Bowl. They played former NFL pros for the prize but made sure to make some time for fun on the sidelines.

Since then, the Duchess of Sussex and Williams have supported each other, including Markle watching her friend play at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.

  • Meghan Markle sends snacks and coffee to women campaigning for safe gun laws

Meghan Markle praised the work of women campaigning for safer gun laws — and sent them some “delicious and appreciated” treats to keep them fueled.

Shannon Watts of Moms Demand Action revealed on Wednesday that the organization had received a personal note from the Duchess of Sussex.

“@MomsDemand volunteers and staff have been working around the clock for weeks, so it was moving to receive such a supportive note – and snacks! – from the Duchess of Sussex today,” Watts shared on Twitter along with a photo of the note.

Watts later followed up with another tweet: “Lots of questions about the snacks! Donuts, bagels w/the works, coffee, cookies, etc… Delicious and appreciated.”

“Good afternoon ladies!” the mom of two — son Archie, 3, and daughter Lilibet, 1 — wrote. “To each of you and your fearless leader, Shannon, a huge thank you for the work you are doing to keep our kids, families, and communities safe.”

She continued, “Please know that while you may feel exhausted by your endless hours of dedication to this cause, I hope you feel energized in knowing that the work you’re doing is vital and so deeply appreciated. As a mom, as a friend, thank you so much!”

Meghan, 40, signed the letter with her first name in her recognizable penmanship (she once worked as a professional calligrapher!), above a typed “Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.”

Moms Demand Action describes itself as a “grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. We pass stronger gun laws and work to close the loopholes that jeopardize the safety of our families.”

  • Meghan: Duchess of Sussex tells of miscarriage ‘pain and grief’

The Duchess of Sussex has revealed she had a miscarriage in July, writing in an article of feeling “an almost unbearable grief”.

“I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second,” Meghan said in a piece for the New York Times.

She went on to describe how she watched “my husband’s heart break as he tried to hold the shattered pieces of mine”.

Meghan wrote that “loss and pain have plagued every one of us in 2020”.

The 39-year-old shared her experience to urge people to “commit to asking others, ‘are you OK?’” over the Thanksgiving holiday in the US.

A source close to the duchess confirmed to the BBC that the duchess is currently in good health and the couple wanted to talk about what happened in July, having come to appreciate how common miscarriage is.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “It’s a deeply personal matter we would not comment on.”

The duchess and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, moved to California to live away from the media spotlight, after stepping back as senior royals in January.

Their first child, Archie, was born on 6 May 2019.

The duchess began her article by describing a “sharp cramp” she felt while looking after Archie.

“I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right,” she wrote.

“Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears.

“Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.

“Meghan made it clear from the first event that she spoke at as Harry’s bride-to-be that she wanted women’s voices and women’s experiences to be heard more clearly.

Now she has written of her loss, and her heartbreak. She has set it in the context of a year of breathtaking turbulence. And she has made a plea for tolerance and compassion.

She weaves in the struggles of so many with Covid-19, the battles over truth and lies in our divided age, the killing of black Americans by the police.

And on an experience that so many women have lived through, she has made her grief a way of bringing miscarriage closer to the everyday conversation.

The duchess continued: “Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few.

“In the pain of our loss, my husband and I discovered that in a room of 100 women, 10 to 20 of them will have suffered from miscarriage.

“Yet despite the staggering commonality of this pain, the conversation remains taboo, riddled with (unwarranted) shame, and perpetuating a cycle of solitary mourning.

“Some have bravely shared their stories; they have opened the door, knowing that when one person speaks truth, it gives license for all of us to do the same.”

The duchess also referenced a TV interview in which she was asked by a journalist if she was ok, during her tour of South Africa last year.

She said she was asked the question during a time in which she was “trying to keep a brave face in the very public eye”.

“I answered him honestly, not knowing that what I said would resonate with so many – new moms and older ones, and anyone who had, in their own way, been silently suffering,” she said.

The duchess is the second member of the Royal Family to open up about having a miscarriage.

In 2018 the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall spoke about suffering two miscarriages before having her second child.

The duchess’s miscarriage happened at a time when she was involved in legal action against the Mail on Sunday over the publication of a letter she wrote to her father. Last month she was granted a postponement of her privacy trial until autumn next year.

    ‘Breaking down stigma’

An estimated one in four pregnancies ends in a miscarriage, according to the charity Tommy’s.

Tommy’s midwife Sophie King said talking about baby loss in pregnancy is “a real taboo in society” so “mothers like Meghan sharing their stories is a vital step in breaking down that stigma and shame”.

She said the duchess’s “honesty and openness” sends a “powerful message to anyone who loses a baby: this may feel incredibly lonely, but you are not alone”.

Clea Harmer, chief executive of stillbirth and neonatal death charity Sands, said it was a “sad reality” there was a stigma surrounding pregnancy loss and baby death, which “leaves many parents feeling isolated”.

“The isolation we have all felt this year has made it even more difficult for parents whose baby has died during the Covid-19 pandemic and has brought back painful emotions for all those who have lost precious loved ones,” she said.

Dr Christine Ekechi, of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, said it was “important” that any stigma or shame surrounding this issue was removed.

“Sadly, early miscarriages are very common and they can be a devastating loss for parents and their families,” she said.

And Alice Weeden, from charity the Miscarriage Association, told the BBC: “When somebody, particularly in the public eye, talks about it openly, it’s helpful for other people to know that they are not alone.”
