Joe Mettle, Team Eternity, others, gear up for Ningo-Prampram worship concert in December

Several well-known gospel artistes are gearing up to minister at the upcoming “Ningo-Prampram in Worship” concert in December.

This year will mark the second edition of the Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament Sam George and his Dzata Foundation’s worship, prayer and praise programme.

The event will take place on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Anglican School Park and is expected to offer a strong atmosphere of worship and spiritual reflection.

Ministers on the bill are Piesie Esther, Ceccy Twum, MOG, Joe Mettle, Kofi Owusu Preprah, Perez Musik, Team Eternity, Minister Paolo and others.

Attendees will include residents, traditional leaders, clergy, politicians and other distinguished guests.

To make the programme more accessible, organisers are providing buses from selected pickup points in Accra to Ningo-Prampram.

They have also hinted at surprises, urging the public to follow updates on the official Ningo-Prampram in Worship social media pages.

Gospel singer Esther Godwyll is of the view that worship concerts should not be seen as a form of entertainment but rather as a platform for divine transformation.

“When people attend our events, they shouldn’t just look for entertainment. They should come with open hearts, ready to absorb the positive change the lyrics can inspire,” she said.

She adds that, “The gospel was never designed for fanfare or applause but to bring comfort, warmth, and joy,” she explained while engaging Graphic ShowBiz.

Madam Godwyll emphasised that gospel songs may not aim to entertain people in the usual way that secular performers do, but the message and presence they carry can transform lives.

“While we may not entertain in the traditional sense, the light we carry has the power to brighten lives. This powerful perspective resonates deeply, inviting listeners to engage with gospel music on a spiritual level rather than a superficial one,” she added.

She cautioned fellow gospel musicians to remain grounded in their mission of transforming lives for the Kingdom of God, even as gospel music continues to expand its reach and influence.

“Gospel music is stretching its wings,” she admitted, “but with that growth comes the responsibility to keep our focus clear.”

She acknowledged that innovation is fantastic, “but we must not lose sight of our spiritual purpose,” she insisted.

“It’s not a competition. Trust me, there are many bold, talented women whom the Lord is preparing. A lot of up-and-coming female artists are building capacity, and the assignment is not to dethrone anyone but to light up more corners of the world with our message,” she concluded.

Esther Godwyll is a Ghanaian gospel vocalist who debuted with the single “Faithful God” in 2021, followed by the Ghanaian EP in 2023.

With soulful solo releases, worship collaborations, and award recognition, she continues to make her mark in spiritual music.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian gospel musician Joe Mettle has revealed plans to pull out from future nominations for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

His decision stems from the demands of the awards process, which he believes sometimes an artist may not be ready for due to other equally important engagements.

“I think I do [have intentions to retire from the awards]. There are things the awards require that sometimes you’re not able to do. Because once you’re nominated, you need to push it, and sometimes a lot is going on. Sometimes it gets to a point where so much is happening around you that you can’t fully commit to the requirements,” he stated.

Joe Mettle added that thoughts of stepping back from the award scheme have been lingering for the past 3-4 years. However, he clarified that his decision is not coming from a place of pride or arrogance, as many would assume.

“For the past three or four years, I’ve wanted to take a step back from the awards. And it’s not because I think I’ve outgrown them, no, it’s not that,” he said.

He continued that, on most occasions, artists who don’t actively promote their nominations are not arrogant; that is often a misunderstanding.

In the media, they might think you’re acting ‘big,’ but it’s not the case. Most of those are assumptions,” he explained.

The “Onwanwani” singer further shared that an artist’s career goes through different seasons, and there are times when one’s focus naturally shifts, making full participation in award-related activities challenging.

“There are seasons. A time comes when you realize you can’t commit to the awards like you used to. But it’s not because you’ve outgrown them,” he added.

Despite his reflections on stepping back, Joe Mettle had a successful night at the 2025 TGMAs, taking home two awards: Best Gospel Artiste of the Year and Best Male Vocal Performance for his song “Obo Awan Oba.”

He was unable to show up for his two awards due to issues he encountered with his ticketing.

Upon his arrival at the event’s grounds, he was prevented from entry as organisers cited that his ticket had already been used; however, after attempts to resolve it, the event staff confirmed it was a network error, hence granting him entry.

Joe mettle is a celeberated Ghanaian gospel singer and songwriter known for his worship music that has tourched many lifes across Africa and beyond.

He has gained widespread recognition with hit songs like “My Everything,” “Onwanwani,” and Bo Noo Ni” which have become staples in many church worship sessions.

He expressed his gratitude to God for swiftly elevating Abigail and Afronitaaa to global recognition.

Reflecting on his support for Abigail during her victorious run on Talented Kidz in 2023 and her hard work to achieve such international acclaim, Sam George emphasized that their success on Britain’s Got Talent marks the beginning of many more achievements in their dance careers.

“Watching the journey of my little lioness ‘Abigail’, I am super excited but grateful to God for the blessings He has brought her way. From my first post asking you to support her to the grand finale and sending her off to Britain’s Got Talent, her journey has been incredible and nothing short of a series of miracles.

  • Chief Justice Getrude Torkornoo is engaged in Judicial gangsterism – Sam George

Chief Justice Getrude Torkornoo is engaged in Judicial gangsterism – Sam George

Member of Parliament representing Ningo-Prampram constituency, Sam George has lambasted Ghana’s Chief Justice, accusing her of practising biassed justice administration.

The controversy revolves around the scheduling of court hearings, particularly the early hearing of Dafeamekpor’s case concerning President Akufo-Addo’s approval of new Ministers.

The ongoing debate over the anti-LGBTQ+ bill, which has been approved by parliament and awaits President Akufo-Addo’s assent, has further fueled discussions.

President Akufo-Addo has pointed to Richard Dela Sky’s court suit as a reason for delaying his decision on enacting the bill into law.

The issue causing concern is the precedence given to Dafeakmekpor’s case in the court system, despite Richard Dela Sky’s suit being filed earlier.

Sam George expressed his discontent on Twitter, labelling Chief Justice Torkornoo’s actions as “judicial gangsterism.”

Sam George believes that the Chief Justice’s alleged biased conduct undermines the principles of justice and poses a threat to the rule of law.

He emphasized the importance of a fair, equitable, and impartial justice system, calling for condemnation of any actions that could jeopardize the integrity of the judicial process.

“There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the current Chief Justice is engaged in judicial thuggery and poses an existential threat to the dispensation of justice in an equitable, fair, and just manner. Such partisan behavior at the apex of our judiciary must not be entertained and must be condemned with all the force reasonable people can muster. Judicial gangsterism is a precursor for the breakdown in the dispensation of justice and the doctrine of the rule of law. Common sense ought to be an ingredient in the dispensation of justice,” Sam George stated.

Anti-LGBTQ+ bill: It’s personal for Sam George; total abuse of power – Pappy Kojo

Ghanaian rapper Pappy Kojo has stepped into the controversy surrounding the Anti-LGBTQ+ bill, criticizing Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-PramPram Sam George for abuse of power.

In a recent interview, Pappy Kojo expressed strong sentiments against the bill, shedding light on its potential repercussions and raising concerns about human rights violations.

The bill, officially known as the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, has sparked widespread debate and condemnation both locally and internationally.

Its provisions include criminalising LGBTQ+ advocacy and activities, with penalties ranging from fines to imprisonment.

Pappy Kojo, known for his outspoken views on social issues, didn’t hold back in his criticism.

He called the bill a “total abuse of power” and emphasised the personal nature of the issue for Sam George, who has been one of the bill’s staunchest advocates.

Kojo suggested that personal motivations might be clouding the judgement of those pushing for the bill, leading to what he perceives as a violation of basic human rights.

Reacting to Sam George spearheading the bill , Pappy Kojo stated, “I also think it’s just personal to Sam George. If you’re in power, you can pretty much do whatever you want. So I think that’s what he’s doing.”

His remarks echoed the sentiments of many activists and organizations that have condemned the bill as discriminatory and regressive.

Sam George, the MP at the centre of Pappy Kojo’s criticism, has been a vocal proponent of the bill, arguing that it is necessary to uphold Ghanaian cultural values and protect the family unit.

Touching on broader implications, Pappy Kojo emphasised the need to shield children from exposure to intimate matters, regardless of sexual orientation.

He stressed, “Intimate matters shouldn’t be exposed to kids. Whether heterosexual or homosexual, they shouldn’t be exposed to kids.”

However, critics like Kojo argue that such legislation infringes on individual freedoms and perpetuates discrimination and prejudice.
The debate over the Anti-LGBTQ+ bill continues to divide opinion in Ghana, with proponents citing traditional values and moral concerns while opponents emphasise human rights and inclusivity.

Pappy Kojo’s intervention adds a prominent voice to the discourse, drawing attention to the personal and ethical dimensions of the contentious legislation.

Anti-LGBTQ+ bill: “Africans are not puppets and stooges of the West” – Sam George

Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, has stated that Africans are not individuals who can be manipulated by the West for selfish interests.

In an interview with Nigeria-based television station News Central TV, he indicated that it’s long overdue for African countries to object to the rule and intimidation from the West.

“Ghana is a fertile ground for business; Africa must begin to assert our rights. We are not puppets and stooges of the West,” he added.

His comments come after parliament, on Wednesday, the February 28 2024, passed the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values, also known as the anti-LGBTQ bill.

The legislation prohibits lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) activities and criminalizes their promotion, advocacy, and funding in the country.

The bill awaits approval from President Akufo-Addo for implementation.

The United States of America (USA) has warned that Ghana’s public health, media, civic spaces, and economy could be affected should the bill be endorsed.

In a statement, US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that the legislation threatens Ghana’s tradition of tolerance, peace, and respect for human rights.

Mr. Miller has called for a review of the bill to safeguard the rights of all individuals in Ghana, citing its inconsistency with the country’s values.

However, Sam George, who is also the proponent of the LGBTQ bill, has indicated that President Akufo-Addo must be confident enough to assent to the bill as Ghana stands to lose.

He emphasized that American businesses operate in Ghana to make profits and not because of LGBTQ-related agendas.

According to him, no American business owners in Ghana will cease operations if they are making huge profits just to oppose the country’s cultural values.

He added that whoever will not be comfortable with what the country supports can suspend their businesses, as those willing to will come and occupy their spaces.

“Well Ghana is a proud African Nation, first country in sub saharan Africa to gain independence and lead a light for the rest of Africa. I expect the leaders of our country, the president of our country to stand shoulder high and tell the American people you either do business on our terms or you can walk.

“American businesses that operate in Ghana are not here because of LGBTQ, they are here because they make a profit. If you are an American business working in Ghana and you turn 100 million dollars in profit every year, if you think that because we are protecting our cultural values and say no to LGBTQ you want to lose a 100 million dollars in profit, pack up and go another company to come to Ghana and do business, he added.

Sam George confident in passage of Anti-Gay Bill by March 2024

A prominent advocate for the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, Sam Nartey George, has expressed confidence in the potential passage of the Bill by March 2024.

Often referred to as the anti-gay bill, the legislation seeks to criminalize same-sex relationships, including oral and anal activities, proposing penalties ranging from five to 10 years of imprisonment.

In an interview on Eyewitness News at Citi FM, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram shared insights into the bill’s current status, highlighting ongoing amendments with inputs from various stakeholders.

“They are almost 60% done with consideration. Hopefully, there will be another two weeks of parliamentary work when we resume, and they should be done with consideration. The third stage of reading is just a procedural thing. It is read, and then the bill is passed,” George explained.

Providing a timeline for the potential passage, George stated, “In fact, during the first session of the meeting we are about to start, we believe that in the first session, which is going to run from the 6th of February to the end of March or early April, I believe that we should pass the bill before Easter. I think it is something we should give as an Easter gift from parliament to the nation. So we would strive to work with the speaker and the committee chair.”

Spillage of irrigation dam in Dawhenya displaces hundreds

The overflow of an irrigation dam in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region has led to the displacement of more than 100 people, with others confined to their residences. The flooding occurred in the afternoon of Monday, November 27, 2023.

The dam, sourced from rainwater in the Aburi Mountains, plays a crucial role in supporting rice and vegetable cultivation in the region. According to the Municipal Assembly, over 600 homes have been affected by the overflow.

Residents are expressing frustration over the recurring issue, stating that this is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In an interview with JoyNews, a victim named Mavis shared the harrowing experience of how her child was nearly swept away by the water.

“The rain has carried all our belongings away and the remaining ones are spoilt. My child was nearly carried away. Something must be done about it.”

Another victim also said “We have no option than to be here. We bought the land during the dry season so we didn’t know about the situation. Many were caught unaware.”

Affected individuals are appealing for assistance, leading to the initiation of evacuations for those impacted. National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) officials, along with the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George, and other authorities, have been touring the affected communities.

In response to the situation, the MP highlighted the necessity for an investigation. He expressed concern that residents are enduring hardship due to the negligence of certain individuals in positions of authority.

“At the irrigation site, a scheme manager tells me it’s the former manager who gave out the land. The MCE says he doesn’t know anything about it so who gave the permit? How can a scheme manager sell state land to a foreigner? This is unacceptable,” he fumed.

  • Sam George threatens to halt Akufo-Addo’s movement in Ningo-Prampram over damaged Afienya-Dawhenya bridge

Sam George threatens to halt Akufo-Addo’s movement in Ningo-Prampram over damaged Afienya-Dawhenya bridge

Ningo-Prampram MP, Sam George, has issued a warning that he may impede President Akufo-Addo’s movement within his constituency unless the President takes action to repair the deteriorating Afienya-Dawhenya bridge.

Despite his ongoing efforts to secure funds for the bridge’s repair, Sam George expressed frustration over the lack of action.

During an interview on JoyNews’ AM show on Wednesday, he explained that, if necessary, his final course of action would involve collaborating with his constituents to restrict the President’s mobility.

“If he is saying and I agree with him and I have served notice on a bridge in Ningo-Prampram that if the President does not work on it and I see him crossing my constituency again, I will stop his convoy with my constituents,” he said in an interview on JoyNews.

Mr George on the back of that explained that for half of the year, all attempts to get the relevant authorities to address the bad nature of the bridge have proven futile hence his drastic decision.

“I have spent the last six months literarily begging in this country to fix the bridge. Kissing every backside I need to kiss. They are waiting for my constituents to die before they fix that bridge,” he lamented.

He emphasized his genuine concern, fearing that it might take a tragic incident resulting in loss of life for the government to take action. Sam George made a direct appeal to the Minister of Roads to promptly address the situation to prevent any such unfortunate occurrence.

Furthermore, Sam George responded to the aspiring contender’s accusation by highlighting that such suggestions implied a failure of the ruling government. He noted that the year 2022 had been declared as the “year of roads” by the President, making it evident that, despite this declaration, the living conditions of his constituents had not seen substantial improvement.

  • Mind your business – Sam George tells Akufo-Addo on Niger coup

Mind your business – Sam George tells Akufo-Addo on Niger coup

The Member of Parliament (MP) representing Ningo-Prampram in the Greater Accra region, Samuel Nartey George, has expressed apprehensions regarding the potential repercussions of employing the military to mediate in Niger’s leadership turmoil.

He voiced his concerns about President Akufo-Addo’s failure to adequately equip and strengthen the Ghana Armed Forces (GFA), despite the unwavering dedication and professionalism exhibited by its officers.

President Akufo-Addo has announced Ghana’s commitment to providing troops for a regional standby force aimed at reinstating the deposed president, Mohamed Bazoum, and his government in Niger.

This initiative would involve engaging Niger’s soldiers who were responsible for the ousting and currently hold control.

“Focus our scarce resources on improving the living conditions of Ghanaians and stop poking your nose in other Country’s matters. Dzi wo fie asem Mr President,” he said.

On August 16, Sam George posted a message urging President Akufo-Addo to allocate the nation’s limited resources towards improving the well-being of Ghanaian citizens, rather than involving the country in external conflicts.

He additionally implored President Akufo-Addo to refrain from making decisions that could result in unnecessary loss of life and untimely confrontations.

“Direct our scarce resources towards enhancing the lives of Ghanaians and abstain from interfering in the internal affairs of other nations. Attend to your own concerns, Mr. President,” he commented.

The MP referred to Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, arguing that this provision restricts the use of military interventions, a path being contemplated by “you [President Akufo-Addo] and your associates in ECOWAS.”

He questioned the validity of using Article 42 as justification and asked whether there existed a United Nations Security Council resolution sanctioning such an intervention. He pointed out that the necessary three criteria for invoking the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) principle were not clearly evident, underscoring the importance of respecting Niger’s sovereignty.

Mr. George further urged the president to adopt a thoughtful and judicious approach for resolving the crisis in Niger, rather than pursuing military intervention that might align with the interests of external powers.

He emphasized that any decision to commit Ghana Armed Forces personnel to a futile and unnecessary conflict should require the approval of Parliament, a demand he put forth.

The phrase ‘Dzi wo fie asem,’ which translates to “mind your own business,” gained prominence in politics when the late President John Evans Atta Mills, faced with pressure from political adversaries to interfere in the turmoil of Cote d’Ivoire at the time, asserted that he preferred to concentrate on domestic matters rather than meddle in the affairs of other sovereign nations.

  • Sam George urges Parliament to disregard US Ambassador’s anti-LGBTQ advice

Sam George urges Parliament to disregard US Ambassador’s anti-LGBTQ advice

The Member of Parliament (MP) representing Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has called upon Parliament to stand firm and resist the warnings by Virginia Palmer, the US Ambassador to Ghana, regarding the proposed anti-LGBTQ Bill.

In an interview with the media, Sam George stressed the importance of upholding Ghanaian values and cultural beliefs, rather than yielding to external pressures or advisories.

He emphasized the significance of safeguarding Ghana’s cultural identity and principles, asserting that Ghanaians should recognize that their portrayal determines how they are perceived and treated.

Sam George argued that maintaining integrity and a strong value system is paramount, particularly in business partnerships, and that succumbing to financial incentives at the expense of cultural values could tarnish Ghana’s reputation and discourage meaningful collaborations.

“It is high time Ghanaians begin to realize that the way we sell ourselves is how we will be bought and that this is a sovereign nation and in fact, for anybody who goes into business or partnership, the first interest of any potential business partner is a sense of integrity and a value system and so if you tell the Ghanaian people that our culture frowns on this (LGBTQ) but because of a few thousand or million dollars worth of investment that is not even proven will come, you push it aside, Ghana will be seen as the country that does not have integrity and any true businessman will not come here to work with us.

“So let us not buy into the rhetoric and let us stop regurgitating that rhetoric that if we pass the bill, something will happen to us,” he added.

He encouraged fellow Ghanaians not to embrace the rhetoric that passing the anti-LGBTQ Bill would lead to negative consequences, challenging the notion that economic interests should dictate the country’s moral stance.

In response to Ambassador Palmer’s concerns that the bill could deter foreign investors and exporters, Sam George proposed that Ghana should leverage its unique strengths, particularly its safe and vibrant democracy, which has attracted international organizations and corporations to set up their headquarters in the country.

He advised against compromising these strengths for short-term gains, urging Ghana to stand its ground during negotiations and avoid being swayed by external pressures.

Ultimately, Sam George’s message centered on the idea that Ghana’s value is not solely determined by economic indicators, but also by its cultural heritage, democratic stability, and ethical principles.

  • Nogokpo-Agyinasare: We have seen who rules the cosmic realm – Sam George

Nogokpo-Agyinasare: We have seen who rules the cosmic realm – Sam George

Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram constituency, Sam George, has taken a subtle jibe at Nogokpo, a traditional shrine in Ghana, following their issuance of a 14-day ultimatum to Archbishop Charles Agyinasare.

The ultimatum required the renowned pastor to retract statements deemed offensive to Nogokpo and honour a summon by traditional authorities in Nogokpo. However, the renowned Pastor disregarded the 14-day ultimatum and did not turn himself in to the traditional rulers who threatened to show the pastor who controls the cosmic if he fails to show up.

Over sixty (60) days down the line, the Pastor is in shape despite not honouring the summons. Known for his outspoken nature, Sam George seized the opportunity to mock Nogokpo’s assertion of power, suggesting that the cosmic realm had shown its true ruler.

“We were told that we would see who rules the cosmic and we have seen who rules the cosmic realm. There’s one God. Somebody threw a challenge; he gave our leader a 14-day ultimatum to submit to their oracle because he said our leader has offended the oracle and we will see who rules the oracle and if  he fails to show up after 14-days.

“Today is I think the 64th or 65th day and we are seeing that Agyinasare is there. I mean we are not taunting anyone. It was a challenge and the challenge has been met,” the MP, further revealing that authorities at Nogokpo issued another 7-day ultimatum after which they said they would take the matter to court.

Asked what the church intends to do to resolve this issue to prevent it from escalating into a deadlock, he said the church intends to thank God for keeping their pastor safe.

Founder of the Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare has also mocked the 14-day ultimatum given to him by cult members of a shrine at Nogokpo.

During a sermon titled “Who Rules the Cosmic Realm: Dominating the Cosmic Realm,” the televangelist boldly proclaimed that as a child of God, the lesser gods have no power over him.

“That history can never be erased because it was done publicly. All the TV stations took it, social media took it that the gods of thunder and the ancestors will show Agyinasare who controls the cosmic realm and after 60 days we are still here,” Agyinasare said to a loud applause from congregants.

He confidently stated, “I am an example that if you are a child of God and they pour libation and they give you 14 days to live, after 60 days you will still be dancing,” as he danced joyfully in front of his congregants.

Archbishop Agyinasare further taunted Nogokpo by expressing that despite the threats and hullabaloo surrounding his comments about the revered thunder deity in the Volta Region town, he remains unharmed.

He emphasized that his divine mission is not yet complete, and he will live many more years to come.

In June, the chiefs and residents of Nogokpo issued the 14-day ultimatum to the Archbishop to engage in peace talks after he referred to Nogokpo as the “demonic headquarters of the Volta Region.”

However, he has not honored the ultimatums and continues to stand by his statements.

It’s worth noting that the paramount chief of the traditional area that encompasses Nogokpo has distanced himself from the ultimatum, stating that the comments were directed at the Nogokpo shrine, not the Nogokpo people.

He clarified that the shrine is called Gbakadza, not Nogokpo as some have misconstrued.

  • Better sue me today because I won’t apologize today nor tomorrow – Sam George dares GREDA

Better sue me today because I won’t apologize today nor tomorrow – Sam George dares GREDA

Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, refuses to budge in the face of calls from the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) for an immediate and unconditional apology and a retraction of his remarks.

He asserts that he has no intention of offering an apology or retracting any of his statements regarding the real estate industry.

During a broadcast on ‘Joy NewsFile Joy FM and Joy TV’ on Saturday, July 22, 2023, the MP reportedly referred to the real estate business in Ghana as an enterprise involved in ‘money laundering’.

In response to GREDA’s reaction, the Ningo-Prampram MP expressed his disappointment and accused the association of adopting an ostrich-like approach by denying the existence of money laundering in Ghana’s real estate sector.

“Let me start by stating that I have absolutely no intention to render an apology, qualified or not, nor make any retraction. As a public office holder, I am minded first by my fidelity to the truth, my conscience and the general well-being of the Ghanaian people. These considerations in my opinion supersede the whims of any individual or specific grouping.

“It is shocking that an association like GREDA would seek to play the ostrich and display publicly the malaise that bedevils our beautiful Nation – hypocrisy! How GREDA can boldly seek to make them that they are unaware of the fact that money laundering is happening in the real estate sector of our country is shocking and disappointing. The phenomenon is not peculiar to Ghana alone and is serious jurisdictions, legitimate industry players work with State authorities to rid their sector of these criminals. Unfortunately, here in Ghana, we are seeing GREDA seek to silence any voice that points out this criminality,” part of the MP’s statement read.

Sam George claims that his comments were not intended to single out all GREDA members but rather to address the issue of money laundering in the industry.

He mentioned messages of encouragement from reputable real estate developers who applauded him for speaking out on a matter that threatens the credibility of the industry.

“Let me state for the records that I have received messages from hardworking and credible real estate developers who are engaged in honest enterprise commending me for speaking out on an issue that threatens the viability of the sector.
The attempt by the Executive Council to paint a picture that all GREDA members are saints and above reproach is one that would leave any discerning minds in stitches,” he continued.

The MP went on to say that many Ghanaians share his views on the real estate and that GREDA should use all legal means at their disposal to address those views rather than turning their legal efforts against him.

Sam George also gave the association assurances that his office is open to working with them to combat dishonest players in the industry who take part in unlawful activity.

“I am fortified that my position is one that the majority of Ghanaians agree with and believe in. I encourage GREDA to exercise any legal options available to your good selves as you have indicated in your statement. It may open a vista for a wider investigation into a sector that we may not have looked at closely.

“My office remains available to work with GREDA whenever it is prepared to deal with unscrupulous elements who use the sector to perpetrate illegalities,” the MP stated.

If boycotting parliament will make us lose our seats then so be it – Minority

Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has stated that the Minority caucus remains unconcerned about losing their parliamentary seats due to their ongoing boycott of parliamentary activities.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, ruled that the Minority’s continuous boycott, carried out without an official notification and approval, violates the house’s standing orders, potentially leading to the loss of their seats.

In an interview on Eyewitness News, Sam George affirms that the Minority will persist in their efforts to halt the persecution of its members.

“Akufo-Addo will go down in the history of this country as the worst president and most undemocratic person. And we must resist him at every turn if it means losing 137 seats in Parliament. They should declare the 137 seats vacant and let’s have a by-election. After all that will bring a lot of development to our 137 constituencies because that is their stalking.”

“The 137 of us have decided and are definite in our minds. We are not going to the chamber any day they take our colleagues to court and persecute them,” he indicated.

Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, dismisses Minority’s credibility.

“I want to tell the Ghanaian people that they shouldn’t take the Minority seriously at all unless they come to convince us why they will boycott the chamber. Today it was most embarrassing, all the private business about 99.9% of all the private businesses were advertised in their names. But I think that they should show maturity in these matters,” he said.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George, catch up with some personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces who had been deployed to the Assin North Constituency for the ongoing by-elections.

In a video available to GhanaWeb, the MP can be seen engaging in a hearty conversation with the army personnel.

He asked them whom they were protecting and the person who deployed them to the constituency since it is the job of the Ghana Police Service to provide security for the by-election.

“It is only, the president and the vice president and of late the attorney general who uses military… even the speaker (of parliament) have been denied military. Are you with the minister of defence?

“We don’t want Ayawaso West Wagon… you are my people, am begging you people… I like you and you like me so don’t let us have any skirmishes,” he said.

The military person did not give any straight answer as to why they were in Assin North. They we not happy with the fact that their interaction with the MP was being recorded.

  • No court can prevent Parliament from passing Anti-LGBTQ bill – Sam George

No court can prevent Parliament from passing Anti-LGBTQ bill – Sam George

A member of parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has stated that the court lacks the authority to stop Parliament from enacting the anti-LGBTQ bill.

The vocal proponent of the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill says the judiciary should not overstep its boundaries by attempting to dictate the legislative process.

Speaking to the media, Mr George questioned the court’s willingness to entertain two recent cases brought before it against the bill’s passage.

“I’m wondering why the courts are going ahead to even entertain any case at this point in time because the courts must bear in mind that no court can issue a judgment or give directive to the President that you can’t discuss this matter in Cabinet.”

He highlighted that while the courts play a crucial role in ensuring due process and keeping the legislation in check, they cannot assume to have the power to impede on Parliament’s right to pass laws.

“It is the prerogative of Parliament to pass legislation, and so no court should think that they have the power to tell Parliament that you can pass this bill or you cannot pass this,” Mr George stressed.

Citing a previous case involving the Marijuana legislation, Sam George underscored that the courts have the ability to review the legislative process after Parliament has passed a law.

He said in such cases, they can assess whether all necessary procedures were followed and potentially nullify the law if due process was not observed. However, he firmly stated that this should not interfere with Parliament’s right to sit and pass laws.

“You can pass a judgment, saying that Parliament did not go through all the processes and nullify the law. But you can’t tell Parliament that you cannot sit and pass a law,” added Mr. George.

The proposed LGBT Bill has been a subject of intense debate in Ghana, sparking discussions both domestically and internationally.

The bill seeks to criminalise activities related to homosexuality and increase penalties for those involved.

While it has generated support from certain segments of society who believe it aligns with Ghana’s cultural and religious values, it has also drawn criticism from human rights organizations and advocates who argue that it infringes upon the rights and dignity of the LGBTQ+ community.

The speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin’s SIM card has been deactivated despite registration, according to Sam George, MP for Ningo-Prampram.

Over 8 million unregistered SIM cards were deactivated by the various telecommunication firms after the May 31 deadline announced by the government for the registration exercise.

Although the Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has been scheduled to appear before Parliament on Thursday, June 8, 2023, to apprise the legislators on the exercise, Sam George stressed the need for the Minister to appear on time to address concerns raised regarding the process.

“Over 8 million SIM cards have been disconnected including the [that of the] Speaker of Parliament. His official SIM card has been disconnected even though it was registered in the name of the Parliament of Ghana. My SIM card was [also] disconnected.

“We are insisting that the National Identification Authority provides us with the Ghana Card, so we can register our SIM cards. It is important that the Minister appears before us to answer questions, if possible, even today because people’s livelihoods have been affected and people’s mobile monies have been stacked due to the disconnection.”

  • Minority cannot be held accountable for the implementation of new taxes – Sam George

Minority cannot be held accountable for the implementation of new taxes – Sam George

The Minority in Parliament has disproved claims that the caucus didn’t make a valiant effort to oppose the three new tax legislation voted on Friday.

Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday suggested that the clerks in Parliament have some questions to answer on how they went about Friday’s head count.

“If we had acquiesced we wouldn’t have gone through the vote, we wouldn’t have accounted for our 136, we wouldn’t have challenged what appeared to be an error in counting. We are aware now that at the time we did the first count Ahmed Tuferu was not in Parliament.

“There are two [majority] MPs who also walked in after the clerks had finished taking the vote from the majority side, so clearly, that vote shouldn’t have read 136, 137, but be that as it may, the Speaker only announces what it is presented to him,” Mr George told host Bernard Avle.

He added that “the clerks have a question to answer as to how they managed to get 137.”

Parliament on Friday, March 31, passed the Excise Duty Amendment Bill 2022, the Growth and Sustainability Levy Bill, 2022, the Ghana Revenue Authority Bill 2022 and the Income Tax Amendment Bill 2022.

The financial bills seek to raise about 4 billion Ghana Cedis annually as part of domestic revenue mobilisation.

The bills are also crucial to aid the government’s quest to facilitate the Board Approval for the $3 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) Programme staff-level agreement.

The Minority in Parliament earlier communicated its opposition to the bills, but the bills were passed despite an MP from the majority suffering a near-fatal accident on his way to the House.

The 30-bed maternity ward is to cost about 400,000 Euros and expected to be completed in three years.

The ward would include a meeting area, midwives’ restrooms, and a neonatal department for infants, among other amenities.

Mrs. Evelyn Naa Takie Botchway, General Secretary of the Ga Damgbe Europa Union (GDEu) and founder of the Abladei Women Organization (AWO), stated that the facility would improve health delivery in the District.

  • We caught policemen stealing from Saglemi Housing project – Sam George alleges

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, has alleged that personnel of the Ghana Police Service deployed to protect the Saglemi Housing project are the ones behind the theft of materials meant for the completion of the project.

According to Sam George, whose constituency hosts the Saglemi Housing Project, some of his constituents caught some policemen transporting materials meant for the project.

Speaking in a Good Morning Ghana interview monitored by GhanaWeb on Thursday (November 26), the MP added that the policemen said they were given orders from above to transport the materials when they were caught.

“By the time they (the current government) took office, almost all the fittings for all the 1520 apartments that were completed were there – toilet bowls and tiles. You know the police people that were put in charge as security, went and stole the things.

“I am saying this on record because my boys arrested them. The police people who were sent there as national security to protect the property stole the tiles, stole the toilet bowls. My own boys in Tsopoli arrested them.

“We took the case to the Tema (Police) Regional Commander. And when we arrested them, they claimed that they were instructed to remove the things from the top,” he said.

He also said that the attempt by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government to sell the project to private developers is a form of state capture.

He added that the John Dramani Mahama government contracted a loan to build the project which it has fully paid.

  • Ofori-Atta’s censure vote: Earn your honourable title today – Sam George to NPP MPs

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, has urged his colleague MPs of the majority caucus to support a vote of censure against the finance minister filed by his side, the minority.

Sam George’s call comes after the national leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) directed all their MPs to abstain from a scheduled vote of censure targeted at embattled Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

The party has thus ordered the Majority Whips to ensure that no member of the Caucus participates in the exercise expected to take place today, Thursday, November 10, 2022.

The directive was contained in a November 9, press statement signed by General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.

Reacting to this, the Ningo-Prampram MP said the vote of censure against the finance minister will be a test of honour for the NPP MPs.

He added that the action the majority caucus MPs will take will determine whether they are truly honourable men and women, myjoyonline.com reports.

“Today, it is a matter of honour. It is a matter of the title we so fight for. So, they (NPP MPs) must earn their title, today.

“This is a call to the 137 on the majority side. Earn your title. Else we will not call you honourable members of the rest of the term.

“We will refer to you by your regular names because you are going to show Ghanaians that you lack honour,” he is quoted to have said in an interview with Metro TV on Thursday.

“Ghana is at the crossroads today. Today Parliament has the opportunity to distinguish itself and ensure that we are masters of our own craft and ensure that we care about the people we represent,” the MP added.

  • NCA has no technical modality for adoption of e-SIM – Sam George

The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, has dared the National Communications Authority(NCA) to provide a technical modality leading to the country adopting e-Sims.

According to Sam George, after several trips by officials of the NCA to international conferences on the move of the telecoms industry to adopt e-SIM, the authority is yet to roll out a roadmap on how the country will make the switch to e-SIMs.

“As we speak, the Directors of the National Communications Authority and the Minister for Communications and Digitalization have travelled to several international conferences over the last five (5) years where conversations have centred around the move of the telecoms industry to adopt e-SIMs. After using our taxes to attend these conferences, the National Communications Authority as we speak today has no technical modality for the rollout of the e-SIMs in Ghana today,” Sam George said in a statement issued on Monday.

The outspoken MP added, “I challenge the National Communications Authority to publish within the next 24 hours the framework agreed with the industry players for the implementation of e-SIM if they have one. I am well aware of the reasons for the dragging of feet by the regulator. I would come to that at another time.”

An e-SIM is an industry-standard digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from your carrier without having to use a physical SIM.

The Ningo-Prampram MP, in his statement also defended his claim that Voter ID Cards will be accepted for the registration of SIM cards.

Mr George maintained that the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation has through the National Communications Authority engaged with the Telcos to adapt the platform to accommodate the Voter’s ID Card.

He claimed that there are plans to integrate the Ghanaian Passport in line with the Minister’s earlier directive for Ghanaians abroad.

Responding to the statement from the NCA, Mr George said, “this incontrovertible fact is contained in their very own release.”

  • Ningo-Prampram residents file injunction against NCA’s SIM registration sanctions

Some nine residents in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency have filed an interlocutory injunction to restrain the National Communications Authority (NCA) from implementing punitive measures against unregistered SIM card subscribers.

The NCA has said network subscribers who default will not have access to any services, as their SIMs will be deactivated after September 30, 2022. In a writ shared by Member of Parliament for the area, Sam Nartey George, on Tuesday, the applicants want the High Court of Justice to restrain the “blocking, deactivating, restricting, churning and/ or in any other way or manner limiting the Applicants’ use of their Mobile Phone SIM Cards and Network Services until the complete and final determination of the substantive application for judicial review.”

“Subscribers will have a period of six months to register to redeem their SIMs, failing which their numbers will be churned – that is, re-assigned to the pool to be sold to potential new subscribers,” the Authority added in its statement dated September 4, 2022.

Mr George, speaking to the media, explained that the applicants have been deprived of their Ghana cards despite registering with the National Identification Authority, thus the need to seek legal redress as their current situation is no fault of theirs. “These are citizens who have complied with the directive and taken every reasonable step to get registered. Whatever is left is outside their control. Either for the NIA to provide them with the card that they have registered for,” he worriedly revealed.

“Some registered as far back as 2019, and they still haven’t received their cards. Others have registered, and the NIA has asked them to come for it in December. So in this case, they can’t do anything except what they have done,” he added.

The major challenge affecting the ongoing SIM card re-registration exercise has been registrants not receiving their Ghana Card promptly after registration. This is because the national identification authority issued card is the sole identification document for the SIM card re-registration exercise.

On July 31, 2022, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister for Communications and Digitalization, “reluctantly” extended the SIM card registration deadline for a second time to September 30, 2022, with conditions. Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful acknowledged that the government was having difficulties with the exercise because of the delays in the issuance of the Ghana card during a press conference to announce the extension.

“Upon consultation with the industry and in view of the challenges enumerated above, I have very reluctantly decided to grant a conditional extension. The programme will be extended to September 30th to end on the anniversary of its commencement, “she said.
Delays in the issuance of the Ghana card was the largest challenge bedevilling this exercise. My information is that the NIA has not been able to issue all eligible
persons with the Ghana card,” she explained.

Due to the challenges it is facing, the NIA has said it will be unable to register all Ghanaians before the September 30th deadline. “We cannot do that. There is no way that the NIA can register those people. It is technically, physically impossible. We had said way back in March that it was impossible. I have said it is like expecting a maiden to make a baby every three months,” Executive Secretary of the NIA, Professor Kenneth Agyeman Attafuah, told the press on Friday, September 16, 2022.

Some Ghanaians have challenged the Authority to implement its initiatives as planned in light of public concerns regarding the sanctions implemented by the
NCA. The Communications Minister, in rebuttal to the numerous public concerns, has however, advised mobile network subscribers “not to blame your service provider” for the sanctions yet to be implemented, stating that “to be forewarned is to be forearmed”.

  • Pressure mounts on government to scrap SIM re-registration deadline

With three days to the September 30 SIM re-registration deadline, the Communications Ministry is facing a flood of lawsuits against its determination to block unregistered SIM cards.

Sector Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful’s insistence that the date will not be extended has attracted widespread criticism.

Already Vice President of IMANI Africa, Selorm Brantie is leading some citizens to sue government on the matter in a bid to extend the deadline or do away with it altogether.

On Monday, another group, some of whom are constituents of Ningo Prampram filed a writ at the High Court seeking an injunction against the NCA and Attorney General on the exercise.

Speaking to JoyNews, the MP for Ningo Prampram Sam George said his constituents feel they will be punished for something beyond their control.

“These are citizens who have complied with the directive and taken every reasonable step to get registered. Whatever is left is outside their control. Either for the NIA to provide them with the card that they have registered.

“Some registered as far back as 2019 and they still haven’t gotten their cards. Others have registered and the NIA has asked them to come for it in December. So in this case, they can’t do anything except what they have done,” he said.

He further added that at least six lawsuits have been filed against the NCA on the matter.

  • Parliament to look into sole sourcing of Ningo-Prampram and Dansoman Sea Defense projects – Oppong Asamoah

Vincent Oppong Asamoah, a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Works and Housing, has said Parliament would investigate the contract awarded for the Ningo-Prampram and Dansoman Sea Defense project.

Mr Oppong Asamoah believes it is odd that the government entrusted the project to a new contractor with no prior experience in the construction of maritime defence projects.

Contracts should be allocated based on competitive bidding rather than sole sourcing, unless a contractor has skills that others lack, he argued.

“In this case, a new contractor (and this is) the first project he is going to execute and they sole source that person. It is so suspicious and we are going to look into it and find out why a project of such magnitude – almost GH₵400 million will be sole-sourced to a new contractor in the industry.

There are a lot of questions we need to get answers to when we get to Parliament,” he noted.

Mr Oppong Asamoah said this during a visit to the Ningo-Prampram and Dansoman Sea Defense project by members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Works and Housing and officials from the Works and Housing Ministry, on Monday, May 9th.

Meanwhile, Mr Osei Sarpong, Project Manager for Bridge Global, the construction company in charge of the project, has revealed that about 40 per cent of the work on the 5 kilometer project has been completed.

“We are expecting the consultant to give us some change in scope so we can do more work. We are hoping it comes soon because currently, we have idle equipment,” he disclosed in an interview with Citi Newsroom.

Also, Mr Hubert Owusu-Ansah, who is the Director of Hydrology Division at the Ministry of Works and Housing, disclosed that the first phase of the 2km Dansoman Defence Project is about 95 per cent complete.

He added that, however, works on the drainage system are yet to be completed.

“The drainage works are meant to carry flood waters from the communities into the sea. So, we are left with a few lengths of drainage works to execute. We have noted that towards the East, there is the need for more work to be done and this has been brought to the attention of our ministry,” he stated.

  • Suspects reportedly chase away policemen sent to arrest them at Ningo

Some police personnel at Old Ningo in the Ningo Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region were on Sunday, August 23, 2020, chased away by a group of men when they went to arrest some alleged assault suspects.

The incident occurred at Omankorpe, a suburb of Old Ningo, when five police officers and the assault victims went to arrest the suspects.

They attacked the complainants two days prior to the attempted arrest by the police, leaving the Stool Priest of the Bantama Kabiaweh Clan, also of Old Ningo, Nene Ayitah, wounded.

The Stool Priest was later admitted to the Battor Catholic Hospital.

Narrating the incident, Bantama Kabiaweh explained that the Ningo Traditional Council had pronounced judgment in a matter between the two factions.

The judgment, however, went in favour of the party that was attacked and while they were jubilating on their way back home, they were attacked by the opposition faction with machetes, metals and clubs.

This led to the losing faction inflicting wounds on their rivals, which included Nene Ayitah, who is currently in critical condition.

Confirming the incident to Class News, Ningo Prampram District Police Commander, District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohammed Issah Cantona, said the suspects have been invited for questioning today, Monday, 24 August 2020.

  • Prampram residents defy social distancing advice over unusual water shortage

Residents of Ningo-Prampram have for about a month now been experiencing a major shortage of water supply to the area due to reasons unknown to them.

According to them, the unusual nature of the shortage, plus the length of shortage has sent the area into a crisis and are therefore calling on authorities to quickly address the situation.

A resident who spoke to ghanaweb.com on condition of anonymity said there are rumours that authorities are diverting the water to a private water bottling company in the area. This, the resident said, is the main reason for the acute shortage.

However, in a widely shared video post on Facebook by a resident of the area, some desperate residents of Ningo-Prampram witnessed a glimmer of hope with a water tank arriving to provide them with water on March 29.

It was said that that it took the intervention of the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Alex Martey to supply the residents with water supply on that day.

But it is interesting to note that the desperate residents seemed to have forgotten about the social distancing advice given out by health professionals in the wake of the novel Coronavirus outbreak in Ghana.

The 8-minute-long video captures some residents of the area with almost all their water storage items out in the open to fetch water from the tank.

Earlier, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) announced that there will be an interruption in water supplies in some areas of the country from Tuesday, March 4, 2020.

The GWCL says the development will allow for technicians to undergo maintenance work at the Kpong Water Treatment Plant.
