    Police recover body in river as they search for a missing 22-year-old woman

    In the course of looking for a 22-year-old woman who went missing five days ago, police discovered a body in a river.

    On Friday, Sophie Rebecca Lambert vanished from her Starbeck, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, residence.

    A member of the public discovered some of the young woman’s things nearby on Saturday morning, prompting North Yorkshire Police to say they were searching a river in the Nidd Gorge.

    Today, North Yorkshire Police provided an update, stating: “Police searching for Missing Sophie Lambert in the Harrogate area have confirmed a body has been found in the River Nidd near Nidd Gorge on Wednesday morning.”

    ‘It is too early to confirm the identity, but Sophie’s family have been informed and are receiving specialist support.

    ‘We ask that their privacy is respected. We thank everyone who has supported the missing person appeal over the last few days.

    ‘A further update will be issued in due course.’

    Sophie had last been seen on CCVT footage around 7pm on Friday. She was wearing dark trousers, a black top with a white Adidas logo and dark shoes with a white sole.

    Her hair was tied back and she was carrying a bottle with a pink lid.

    The King almost stepped on one of the eggs, but he appeared unfazed and continued his walkabout.

    Police have arrested a man after eggs were thrown at the King and Queen Consort on a walkabout in York.

    According to North Yorkshire Police, a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offense and is being questioned.

    Officers said a “well-rehearsed” security operation was in place for the royal couple’s visit to ensure their safety.

    The projectiles narrowly missed the King as the royals greeted people on the city’s Micklegate Bar.

    The protester was heard to shout “this country was built on the blood of slaves” as he was detained.

    The King nearly stepped in one of the eggs but appeared unruffled and continued walking.

    The royals are in York for a number of engagements including unveiling a statue of the Queen – the first to be installed since her death.

    The visit is part of a traditional ceremony in which the monarch is officially welcomed to York by the Lord Mayor.

    It was last carried out by the Queen in 2012.

    Police said several roads were closed in the city centre to allow the royal convoy to pass and to ensure the safety of spectators.
