The Volta Region is poised to make history as the first of Ghana’s 16 regions to establish a 24-hour Economy Industrial Park, a strategic initiative designed to spur job creation and industrial growth.
Located in Adaklu near Ho, the industrial park will serve as a hub for businesses, attracting industries and creating employment opportunities, particularly for the country’s youth.
Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, made this announcement during a meeting with a delegation from the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Volta Chapter, alongside organisers of the Volta Fair and other business leaders. He reaffirmed his dedication to transforming the region into an industrial hub and driving economic expansion through investment.
Expressing strong backing for the upcoming Volta Fair and Visit Volta Experience Ghana events, Mr. Gunu highlighted their role in showcasing the region’s economic potential and boosting tourism and investment.
He stressed that collaboration with the private sector is critical for job creation, particularly within the tourism industry, and pledged to work closely with businesses to develop the region.
The Minister outlined three key priorities for the Volta Region: maintaining peace and security to attract investors, strengthening the financial sustainability of local assemblies, and fostering partnerships between the private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and local governments to drive economic development in line with President John Mahama’s vision.
Also present at the meeting was Mawutor Agbavitor, Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a businessman.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to industrialisation through the 24-hour economy model and urged investors to take advantage of the region’s opportunities.
Chair of AGI Volta, Eastern, and Oti, Dela Gadzanku, assured the Minister of the private sector’s readiness to support the region’s industrial ambitions.
He pledged commitment to ensuring the success of the 2025 Volta Fair and positioning the region as a prime investment destination. Presenting samples of locally produced goods, he emphasised that with the right support, Volta’s industrial potential could be further unlocked.
As part of efforts to bolster local industries, Mr. Gunu announced plans to visit businesses across the region to assess their needs and provide necessary support.
His first stop will be Spring Agro Industries Ltd. in Adidome, home to Ghana’s largest rice farm and milling company.
By strengthening local industries and fostering an investor-friendly environment, the Regional Minister aims to accelerate the Volta Region’s industrial and economic development.
