Previous efforts seeking police intervention had failed, leading to a further escalation of the disagreement.

The soldiers initially tried to persuade the occupants of the land to seek mediation at the police station, but the dispute persisted.

Upon returning to the police station to follow up on their complaint, they were informed that the case had been transferred to the Central East Regional Police Command.

As they made their way there, they encountered further conflict, resulting in gunfire and the tragic death of one soldier.

Speculations of potential retaliation from Ghana’s army officers have arisen due to past incidents like the Captain Mahama case.

The creation of the single-story prototype police station marks a significant stride in fostering a more secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and neighboring communities.

The project is expected to be completed within nine months.

The project’s launch, according to UPSA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abednego F. O. Amartey, marked a significant moment in the university’s history and demonstrated their commitment to providing a safe and prosperous environment for community members.

Missing child enters police station from a distance of 1,000 miles

Missing child walks into police station from a distance of 1,000 miles. After her daughter, who went missing just days before her 15th birthday, was found safe more than 1,000 miles away four years later, the girl’s mother declared that “miracles do exist.”

On September 15, 2019, Alicia Navarro, now 18 years old, vanished over night from her Glendale, Arizona, home. I fled away, the note said, when her parents opened their eyes. I’m coming back. I vowed. I apologise.

There was no sign of the adolescent despite a thorough investigation that involved the FBI and received thousands of leads.

She didn’t seek to be removed from the missing children list until this past week when she appeared all by herself at a police station in a small Montanan town about 40 miles from the Canadian border.

Jose Santiago, a police spokesperson, stated during a news conference that “she is by all accounts safe, she is by all accounts healthy, and she is by all accounts happy.”

Navarro’s reunion with her mother was “emotionally overwhelming,” according to Lt. Scott Waite, and she was “very sorry (as) to what she has put her mother through.”

Jessica Nunez, the girl’s mother, verified the discovery of her child but said she had no other information.

She wrote on Facebook, “I want to give glory to God for answering prayers and for this miracle.”

“I want you to use this instance as an example for everyone who has lost a loved one. Miracles do happen. Keep fighting and never give up.

Mother of missing Alicia Navarro praises’miracle’ finding of her child

Although she claimed to be in the dark about her daughter’s whereabouts, she stressed that “the most important thing is that she is alive.”

Now that Alicia has vanished, detectives are attempting to put together what happened to the high-functioning autistic woman.

She allegedly told police that she hadn’t been hurt. They further stated that the adolescent is not under arrest and is free to come and go as she pleases.

She is not in any sort of jeopardy, according to Mr. Santiago.

As much as we’d like to say this is the conclusion, this is probably only the beginning of where this investigation will go, Lt. 100-year-old Akuse Police Station reconstructed by Maleka Farms

Maleka Farms Limited, a privately-owned tilapia farming company situated in Kadjanya near Asutsuare in the Shai-Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region, has provided support to the Ghana Police Service in Akuse by undertaking the reconstruction of sections of the historic police station, which is over 100 years old.

The company invested $75,000.00 in this project, in response to a request from the Ghana Police Service, as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility within the local community.

The Akuse Police Station, constructed in 1911, holds significance as one of the oldest police stations in the country. Initially established to ensure security in Akuse and its surrounding areas during the town’s prosperous era as a thriving commercial center, the station required attention and revitalization.

During the inauguration of the newly reconstructed police station, the Chief Executive Officer of Maleka Farms Limited, Mr. Roger Aboujaoude, expressed the company’s dedication to giving back to the community.

He acknowledged the deteriorating condition of the existing police facility, which also serves as the district headquarters, and highlighted the company’s commitment to addressing this issue.

“With the deplorable state of the building, the company decided to take it upon itself to construct a better edifice for the police for the benefit of the community and to enhance the operations of the police specifically, since working in an ideal office definitely enhances performance.”

Mr. Aboujaoude emphasized that as a responsible corporate entity, Maleka Farms Limited recognizes that the provision of essential facilities for all communities cannot solely rely on the police and the government. Therefore, they made the decision to offer their assistance to enhance policing in the area.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Emmanuel Twumasi-Ankrah, the Eastern Regional Police Commander, commended the commendable efforts of the company. He emphasized the importance of expanding the infrastructure of the police administration to meet the evolving needs of communities.

“To be able to expand our infrastructural base in the communities in terms of both residential and office accommodation, we would need the support of all civil societies, benevolent individuals, companies among others for the government to equip and maintain the police organisation” he said.

The regional commander expressed his concern over the numerous challenges faced by the Akuse Police District, as well as the broader Akosombo Division. He highlighted various criminal activities, including robbery, murder, rape, unlawful entry, stealing, and fraud, among others. Additionally, he mentioned other policing challenges such as road accidents, chieftaincy disputes, and land litigations.

In response to these challenges, Member of Parliament for Okai Koi North, Theresa Lardi Awuni, called for collaboration between the police and the local community to support and cooperate with Maleka Farms in their ongoing efforts to assist the communities.

“What you have seen today is the beginning of better things to come if you continue to cooperate with the benefactor.”

The Municipal Chief Executive of Lower Manya Krobo, Simon Kweku Tetteh, emphasized the importance of the police taking proper care of the facility. He expressed his belief that it would serve as a source of motivation for the officers to effectively and efficiently fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining law and order in Akuse and its surrounding areas.

Furthermore, he called upon all community members residing within the jurisdiction of the Akuse Police Station to join forces with the Ghana Police Service in Akuse to combat crime.

Distinguished guests such as Nana Dokua Amponsah III, the Paramount Queen Mother of the Shai-Osudoku Traditional Area and President of the Queen Mothers Association of Ghana, Nene Otibo IV, the Maklalo of the Shai-Osudoku Traditional Area, and Nene Aklebeto, the Secretary to the Osudoku Traditional Council, graced the event.

The father of Evans Wireku, the 22-year-old, who was stoned to death over a robbery incident at Denkyira Fobinso in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region, calls for justice.

Peter Wireko believes a reprisal attack is imminent and fears delay on the part of the police to arrest anyone related to the crime may spark violence.

The father who was speaking to Citi News says even if his son was indeed a robber as it’s been alleged, he doesn’t deserve to die in the manner in which he did.

He is also worried that traditional authorities in the area have turned a blind eye to the issue.

  • Wanted criminal arrested after walking into police station to apply for job

A 40-year-old man has been dubbed ‘South Africa’s dumbest criminal’ after walking into a police station to get a job there despite being on a wanted criminal list.

Thomas Ngcobo had been on the run for the last seven years, after stealing hardware products worth more than $1,200 while working as a delivery man in 2015.

He reportedly diverted deliveries to other addresses without the owner’s consent or knowledge, and went on the run as soon as his manager realized that some invoices were missing and several products had been delivered to the wrong addresses.

Ngcobo’s name was added to the police’s wanted criminal list as soon as his employer filed a complaint against him, but he managed to avoid capture for seven years. And then he walked right into a police station like he didn’t even have a criminal record.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, told reporters that his colleagues at the local police station were baffled by Thomas Ngcobo’s visit. On August 15, the 40-year-old man reportedly walked into the station to complain that he hadn’t received a reply to his application for a job at the station and ask what the hold-up was.

“The suspect was unexpectedly nabbed on Monday, August 15, 2022, after he visited the Bethal SAPS to make enquiries about his application for a police recruitment drive,” Mohlala said.

According to South African news sources, the provincial law enforcement has been promoting Ngcobo’s arrest as an example of its tireless pursuit of justice, conveniently forgetting to mention that the suspect literally walked into a police station.

“We are working tirelessly day and night, sticking to our mandate of creating a safe environment for all citizens,” Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela said. “We cannot achieve that stage while other suspects are still roaming the streets and terrorising communities. It is just a matter of time before we bring them to justice.”

Ever since news of his arrest went viral online, Thomas Ngcobo has been dubbed ‘South Africa’s dumbest criminal.’

  • Ayawaso West Assembly ejects squatters to make way for new police station

As early as 3:00 am on Thursday, January 13, 2022, some squatters at Bayere Junction in Dzorwulu were awakened to what has turned out to be a sad day for them.

Officials from the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly stormed the area on Thursday morning to conduct a demolition exercise.

When GhanaWeb reported to the scene, dozens of structures serving as residences and shops had been pulled down with the help of a backhoe.

Assembly officials who were still in the demolition process declined to speak about the exercise. However, GhanaWeb sources at the Assembly say the ejection of the illegal occupants of the piece of land is to pave the way for the construction of a new police station.

According to the source, the current structure that serves as a station for the Dzorwulu Police Command is a leased private property that the owner wants back.

However, some squatters who were affected by the exercise complained they were not given ample opportunity to relocate.

According to the settlers, they were served notice of eviction somewhere in November 2021; however, they found the period between the notice and the exercise short.

For some of the squatters who had their residence demolished, they have been rendered homeless as a result of the destruction caused to their place of abode.

Others who lost their place of commercial activities also bemoaned the loss of their businesses and the associated effects they are going to face.

The exercise saw brief moments of confrontation between some Taskforce officers of the Ayawaso Municipal Assembly and some of the affected squatters.

According to officials, the affected settlers had no right to take pictures and videos of the exercise and thus sought to confiscate mobile phones used to capture the demolition.

As at the time GhanaWeb reporters were leaving the scene, some of the affected persons were seen salvaging the remains of their structures which had been reduced to rubbles and scraps.
