Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has expressed strong disapproval of recent remarks made in Parliament, emphasizing the need for decorum in national discussions.
The controversy surrounding the “daughter of a murderer” comment in Parliament centers on a derogatory remark directed at Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle and daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
The incident occurred during a parliamentary session on February 4, amid heated discussions commemorating the 60th anniversary of Joseph Boakye Danquah’s death.
As Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin addressed the House, an unidentified male voice from the parliamentary backbench interrupted, shouting, “Daughter of a murderer, sit down!”
The comment insinuated that Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings’ father was responsible for past political killings, a claim that has been a subject of historical debate.
In a post shared on social media, the actor described the comment—widely believed to be directed at the daughter of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah—as “unacceptable and inappropriate.” He further urged the individual responsible for the statement to offer an apology.
“This behavior is unacceptable and inappropriate. Let’s maintain civility and decorum in our cabinet and parliamentary discussions. The individual who made those remarks should issue an apology,” Osei wrote.
The controversy erupted when an MP allegedly referred to Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, a legislator and daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, as the “daughter of a murderer” during a heated debate in Parliament. The comment has since sparked public outrage, with many calling for retractions and disciplinary action.
Prince David Osei, known for his outspoken views on national issues, joins a growing list of public figures condemning the statement and calling for higher standards of political discourse in the country.
Neither the MP in question nor Parliament has officially responded to demands for an apology. However, the backlash continues to mount, with Ghanaians urging leaders to uphold respectful dialogue in governance.
Prince David Osei is the latest male celebrity to join the trend of enhancing his appearance, having undergone a hair transplant procedure.
He follows actor Harold Amenyah as the second Ghanaian actor to receive this treatment.
The procedure took place at a clinic in Lagos, Nigeria, which also has a location in Ghana. The clinic shared footage of the process, from start to finish, on their social media platforms.
In the video, Prince David Osei, whose hairline had receded, is seen undergoing the treatment. It includes the marking of his forehead, the design of his new hairline, the extraction of hair follicles, and the shaping of his revamped hairline.
The outcome revealed a perfectly defined hairline, creating a buzz online.
After the procedure, the actor posted a picture of himself relaxing in the United States, which sparked mixed reactions from his followers.
While some admired his new look, others criticized the decision, calling it unnecessary and a waste of money.
The clinic that performed the transplant has also worked with other well-known Nigerian actors, including Charles Okocha, IK Ogbonna, and Anthony Monjaro, among others.
Ghanaian actor Prince David Oseihas addressed backlash over a deleted post from his X account (formerly Twitter), which referred to President-Elect John Dramani Mahama as a “drunkard.”
The post was reportedly a reply to a user who had made an unpleasant comment about the actor. Speaking with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Prince denied responsibility for the offensive remark, stating that he was not the one who made the post.
Prince has since apologised to the President-Elect and expressed regret over the incident.
“After the election, we were all pained and sort of depressed because we were surprised at the outcome, but all the same, I came out to congratulate the NDC and the President-Elect. I even posted him, and I said what I had to say: elections are over, and we should all learn to live in peace. Then I started getting a lot of attacks on Twitter,” he said.
He said due to the pain from the disappointment, he did not carry his phones with him.
“So I even left the phone. I wasn’t by my phone. Normally when they start bullying and doing all that stuff, I just leave the phones to my cousins or some of my friends,” Prince said on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.
He said he was surprised when he woke up to see reports that he had insulted the president.
“I went on my Twitter feed to check where that was coming from. I noticed there was nothing like that, but I saw people tagging me in something written by me on my page. Then I said no, I didn’t write this. I started asking my cousins and friends, and then they said, Oh, people were annoying them, so they were replying to them. Then I asked if anybody tagged them in any of those tweets, and they said no. But I could see people sharing it on Facebook from Prince David Osei’s Twitter feed.
Because it was coming from my page, I came out to apologise and said I was sorry because people were calling my phone consistently with death threats,” he said.
Prince David Oseiexplained that although his cousins and friends have denied posting the comment referring to John Mahama as a “drunkard,” he suspects they might have made the posts in reaction to provocations from X users who were attacking him online.
“I think when they responded to the person, they deleted it,” he noted.
Actor Prince David Osei has apologised to supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following criticism over remarks he made about President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
On December 10, 2024, he shared a post on Instagram expressing regret for his comments and emphasised the importance of unity and peace among Ghanaians.
“I deeply apologise if my words during the campaign offended anyone from the NDC. We were all focused on winning, but now let’s move forward and live in peace. God bless Ghana,” he wrote.
It could be recalled that following Mahama’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, Osei, in a now-deleted post intended to congratulate the president-elect, stated that he himself would be president one day.
This post, however, was met with insults from some users who lambasted him for his comment.
An infuriated Osei, in response to one comment, labelled the commenter “fool” and questioned why he couldn’t aspire to be president, suggesting even a “drunkard” had been elected.
The remarks were widely interpreted as an insult to Mahama, fuelling anger among Ghanaians, particularly NDC supporters.
Ghanaian actor and outspoken NPP supporter, Prince David Osei, has reacted to early results from the 2024 presidential election. With projections showing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the lead, the actor has accepted the outcome.
In a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), Prince David Osei reflected on the campaign efforts and congratulated the NDC on their success. His response highlighted the importance of unity and respect for the democratic process.
“What a fascinating phenomenon we’ve just witnessed! Ghana has spoken, and the results were not quite what we all anticipated. I am beyond proud of myself, my team, and our collective efforts; we gave it our all and fought a vigorous battle,” Osei wrote.
The actor, who had strongly backed the NPP and its presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasised his belief in the party’s policies but acknowledged the cyclical nature of Ghanaian politics.
Good morning Ghana 🙋♂️
What a fascinating phenomenon we’ve just witnessed! Ghana has spoken, and the results were not quite what we all anticipated. I am beyond proud of myself, my team, and our collective efforts; we gave it our all and fought a vigorous battle. 💪
“The Almighty always has a plan, and Ghana often craves a change every eight years,” he added, expressing optimism for the NPP’s future prospects.
He thanked his supporters for their loyalty and hard work, encouraging them to remain optimistic. He assured them that the party would come back stronger and more determined in the next four years.
This message comes as the NDC reports a significant lead for its candidate, John Dramani Mahama. Early results from the party’s collation centre show Mahama ahead with 56.45% of votes from 37,200 out of 40,976 polling stations, while Dr. Bawumia follows with 41.19%.
Prince David Osei’s public endorsement of the NPP during the campaign had drawn significant attention, with the actor championing what he described as Dr. Bawumia’s “audacious solution-oriented policies.”
Despite the setback, Osei’s gracious concession has been widely praised, with many viewing it as a call for unity and resilience in Ghana’s democratic process.
As the nation awaits the official declaration of results, Osei ended his statement on a positive note, inviting friendly banter and trolling as a way of fostering political camaraderie. “We don’t give up,” he concluded. “Kukrudu!”
With Ghana at a pivotal moment, all eyes remain on theElectoral Commission as the country looks forward to its official verdict.
Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has urged Ghanaians to vote against former President and presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama, calling him a “greedy” leader.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on December 3, 2024, Prince questioned why Mahama still wants to lead after holding several key positions over the past 24 years.
He noted that Mahama has served as a Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister, Minister, Vice President, and President, and suggested that it is time for him to step aside and give others a chance to lead.
“MP for 12 years, Deputy Minister for 4 years, Minister for 4 years, Vice President for 4 years, President for 4 years, and Former President for 8 years.
Yet he still wants to be president again. The greediness of some African leaders must never be encouraged,” he said.
The actor urged Ghanaians to cast their votes in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming December 7 elections.
He then encouraged citizens to give Bawumia a chance, emphasising that the NPP flagbearer would bring positive change to the country.
“Let’s all vote for a new person. Let’s vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia #1,” he added.
Actor Prince David Osei has called on Ghanaians to refrain from solely blaming the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the devastation caused by illegal mining, known locally as ‘galamsey.’
These mining activities have drawn international attention due to their detrimental effects on the country’s water bodies, land, and environment.
In a recent social media post dated September 29, 2024, Osei emphasized the need for a united front among Ghanaians to tackle this issue, highlighting that it is not merely the government’s responsibility.
He stated, “The issue of illegal mining is a significant concern that is gaining global attention due to its destructive impact on our water bodies, lands, and the environment. There is a growing consensus that urgent action is needed to combat this menace. Blaming the current administration or specific groups for the problem is not the solution. It is a collective responsibility for all citizens of Ghana to address the root causes, including poverty, greed, corruption, and selfishness,” Osei stated.
Osei urged citizens to transcend political affiliations and collaborate to safeguard Ghana’s natural resources. “We should prioritize combating illegal mining as a national issue and take decisive steps to protect our environment,” he urged, advocating for a unified approach to this critical challenge.
Background
The #OccupyJulorbiHouse protesters were arrested during their demonstration, which took place over the weekend. The arrests followed a three-day protest at the 37 Military Roundabout, where demonstrators raised concerns about illegal small-scale mining (galamsey) and economic mismanagement.
On Sunday, 22 September, tensions escalated as a major confrontation occurred between protesters from Democracy Hub and the Ghana Police Service, marking the second day of the demonstrations.
The protesters have been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court. They face five charges: conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct, breach of public peace, and assault on public officers.
Popular Ghanaian actor and New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Prince David Osei has addressed rumors suggesting his political involvement stems from a decline in his acting career.
During an interview with GHOne TV, he dismissed these claims as laughable.
Prince David Osei emphasized his continued success in the film industry, noting that he has been working on various international projects.
His latest film, Letter to Goddo, has even received a nomination for the Toronto Film Festival.
He asserted, “If someone claims I’m entering politics because my acting career is over, that’s just a joke.”
When questioned about his frequent roles in Nigerian films compared to Ghanaian ones, Osei explained that financial constraints often limit opportunities in Ghanaian productions.
He revealed that local producers frequently cannot meet his asking price, although he sometimes takes on roles as favors for colleagues.
Osei also reaffirmed his commitment to the NPP, clarifying that his political support is a personal decision rather than a financially motivated one.
“There’s a misconception that I’m involved in politics for monetary gain. That’s not the case. I haven’t received any money for my political involvement,” he stated.
Speaking in an interview on GhOne TV on August 23, 2024, Osei argued that bringing Mahama back into office would be “like an insult” to Ghanaians.
He pointed out Mahama’s extensive political history, including his roles as an assemblyman, minister of information, parliamentarian, vice president, and president, questioning the need for his return when Ghana has a population of over 30 million people.
“Why must it be that one man becomes a president, goes through all the runs and comes back again? It looks like an insult to the whole of Ghana. Are we saying that in the whole country, there’s nobody else that can command the affairs of Ghana? Do we have to bring an ex-president?” he asked.
Osei expressed concern that relying on Mahama again suggests a lack of capable leaders in the country, asking why the nation must turn to a former president to lead once more.
He also criticized Mahama’s contributions to the creative arts sector, stating that he could not recall any significant achievements during his tenure.
In contrast, Osei praised the NPP’s initiatives, such as the “Year of Return” and “Beyond the Return,” for their positive impact on the industry, emphasizing that these efforts have had a more tangible influence on the creative sector.

Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has urged Ghanaians to reconsider voting for former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), suggesting that his return could lead the country towards negative outcomes.
In a social media post on August 6, 2024, Osei highlighted that despite the current challenges, Ghana is in a relatively stronger position compared to many other African nations and has significant potential for development.
He emphasized the importance of forward-thinking leadership and expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to guide the nation towards a more promising future.
Osei warned that reinstating a former president might not only hinder progress but could also exacerbate existing issues.
“I know there are many opinions about the current state of Ghana, and it’s easy to feel disheartened. But let’s take a moment to appreciate that, despite our challenges, Ghana is still in a better position compared to many other African countries. We have the potential for growth and improvement, especially with Dr. Bawumia leading us forward.
“Choosing to bring back a former president would not only be a setback but could potentially lead us down a path of disaster. We need to think critically about our choices and remember that the alternatives may only deepen the challenges we face.
“Let’s commit to a brighter future for Ghana with leadership that inspires progress. Stay hopeful and keep pushing for a better tomorrow,” he said on August 6, 2024.
He urged citizens to carefully evaluate their choices and to support leadership that fosters progress and optimism for a better future.

His remarks has attracted backlash from netizens.
Concerning the recent controversy surrounding Diddy, a recent allegation has popped up accusing the rapper of assault.
Initially met with skepticism when he first expressed this ambition, Osei emphasized that this calling is something he’s long believed in, having dreamt about it since he was 14 years old.
Osei shared his conviction, saying, “Everyone in this world has something that God gives to them… I think I have the calling, because I’ve dreamt it.”
He recounted his journey, mentioning how he had envisioned his current success even before becoming a star, and likened his presidential vision to that experience.
The actor also mentioned a prophecy from Prophet Amoako Atta, further reinforcing his belief in this path despite any doubts or criticisms.
He addressed detractors, stating, “God chooses to make anybody what he wants to make… How many years have you given yourself for this to come to fruition?”
Osei’s public declaration of his political ambitions dates back to October 2023, inspired by figures like America’s former President Barack Obama.
Despite facing resistance from some quarters, he remains steadfast in his belief that this calling is undeniable.
Regarding a potential role in government, Osei expressed openness, provided he feels qualified for the position.
This announcement adds a new dimension to his career as he continues to pursue his political aspirations alongside his acting endeavors.
Actor, Prince David Osei believes his desire to become the President of Ghana is a divine calling, not just a personal aspiration.
He mentioned that initially, some people thought he was joking when he expressed his ambition. However, he is convinced that this is a task given to him by God.
“Everyone in this world has something that God gives to them. Sometimes when you speak, they say you talk big but if you don’t say it, it won’t manifest.
“It’s not even that I want to become a president, I think I have the calling, because I’ve dreamt it,” the actor said on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z over the weekend.
“What I’m doing here right now today, I dreamt it before becoming a star. I’m not joking. When I was 14 years old, I knew I was going to become somebody popular.
“I didn’t know what it was, but I started praying towards it. And in the same way, I saw the president’s vision,” Prince David Osei stated.
He informed the host, Kwame Dadzie, that Prophet Amoako Atta had also made a similar prophecy, despite the fact that they are not very familiar with each other.
Prince David Osei said, “when we say stuff it’s not like maybe we are drunk or I might not look like it but who are you to judge? God chooses to make anybody what he wants to make. How many years have you given yourself for this to come to fruition?”
“No matter how hard I try to avoid the calling, everything shows I have to be the president someday, that’s why my friends in the game don’t want to support me…But what is written is written,” he wrote.
“Obama couldn’t pay for his parking tickets, 2 years later he became the president of US…Investors, please gather here ooo…With God everything is possible. Have a blessed week fam,” Prince David Osei added.

During a discussion on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Osei acknowledged the government’s commendable work but also criticised its lack of substantial support for the creative arts industry.
“On a scale of 1 to 10, I will give them 7.
“I’ve always been saying that enough attention is not being paid to the creative sector, and the ministers and the deputy ministers and the people who are part of us that we put in place of authority are not doing much,” Prince David Osei stated.
He highlighted the need for more attention and resources to be allocated to this sector, expressing disappointment in the current level of support from government officials.
“I believe the creative arts (industry) should be well-equipped. We should get more of the national cake.”
Osei emphasised that the creative arts industry plays a crucial role in Ghana’s development and should receive a larger share of national resources.
He stressed the importance of recognizing the contributions of creatives in providing entertainment and emotional relief to the public.
“Until we start respecting the creative arts and paying attention to it, we are not going to benefit as much as we are supposed to.
“This is because a lot of people tend to look down on actors and musicians, but we have the platform, and we have the numbers.
“We can convince the people, persuade the people, cause great change in governance, and also get involved in the political discourse.” The actor called for greater respect and investment in the arts, pointing out that without proper support, the country misses out on potential benefits.
He also noted the influence of creatives in shaping public opinion and participating in political discourse, highlighting the need for their voices to be heard and valued.
Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei delved into the ongoing intermittent power outages (dumsor) in Ghana.
Osei, known for his activism during the #DumsorMustStop campaign in 2015, where he was a prominent figure challenging the John Dramani Mahama administration, spoke candidly about the current power challenges.
Attributing the outages to faulty machinery this time, Osei acknowledged that many Ghanaians, including himself, have experienced these disruptions, stating, “We all felt it.”
Drawing a comparison with a recent power outage incident in Toronto, Canada, Osei emphasized that the root cause of Ghana’s power woes lies in malfunctioning equipment owned by power suppliers and distributors.
He highlighted a publication from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) claiming a stable national power supply and attributing outages to ‘localised faults,’ urging for improved communication from ECG to notify affected citizens about potential outages in the future.
“The whole of downtown Toronto, Canada, went off recently. There was a blackout. So once you are dealing with equipment, you are dealing with machines, and things can fail,” Prince David Osei stated.
The actor’s insights shed light on the technical challenges contributing to Ghana’s power interruptions and underscored the importance of proactive communication from authorities to manage public expectations during such times.

Osei emphasised Bawumia’s achievements, particularly in digitalization, pointing to the success of the National Identification Authority’s Ghana Card in combating crime.
“Right now, we’re able to curb crime. All your information is available on the [Ghana] card… so they can track you down,” Prince David explained, stressing: “It’s helping fight crime.”
He commended the convenience of managing electric power and the interoperability of mobile money services, making life more comfortable for citizens.

Ghanaian artist Kwame Nsiah-Apau known popularly as Okyeame Kwame clarified that he has not officially been appointed to the Manifesto Committee of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and emphasizing his non-political affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a press release dated February 24, 2024, Okyeame Kwame asserted that he has not received payment for his involvement in the committee, reiterating his commitment to remaining non-partisan throughout his career.

I have not been paid by H.E. The Vice President’s campaign team to be a member of the committee for the arts and tourism manifesto nor have I officially been invited on my terms as non-partisan participant,” he noted.
Prince David Osei’s remarks are thought to be a response to a press statement issued by Okyeame Kwame.
Renowned Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame and actor Prince David Osei have been selected to contribute to the formulation of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto, particularly focusing on tourism, arts, and culture.
This dynamic duo is part of the sub-committee chaired by Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante, the Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, and Akwasi Agyemang, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
The committee, which also includes prominent figures like Catherine Abelema Afeku, Dr. Ama Boafo-Arthur, and Claudia Lumor, aims to address the expectations of stakeholders in the cultural and creative industries.
Notably, the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has pledged to implement digital platforms for Ghanaian artists, as highlighted during his recent lecture at the University of Professional Studies in Accra.
In the past, the NPP had promised similar initiatives in its 2020 manifesto for the creative industry, committing to building a digital platform for artists to access the global market.
Dr. Bawumia reiterated his commitment to the creative sector, promising tax incentives for film producers and musicians, as well as the implementation of an e-visa policy to boost tourism and job creation.
Despite these assurances, the NPP has faced criticism from stakeholders in the creative industry for not fulfilling previous promises, including the establishment of the Creative Arts Fund, construction of theatres in key cities, and the creation of recording studios in strategic locations.
Additionally, the construction of a convention and exhibition centre at the Ghana Trade Fair Company site remains incomplete.
The committee’s task now involves shaping a cultural vision that addresses these concerns and meets the expectations of the creative community.
The actor, celebrated for his roles in various films, underscored the significance of safeguarding one’s well-being and not allowing others to cause frustration.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Osei emphasised that individuals should not feel compelled to please everyone around them. He stressed the importance of preserving energy and mental health by establishing boundaries.
Osei suggested that it’s acceptable to distance oneself from individuals who do not positively contribute to one’s life or align with their energy. The actor’s straightforward counsel promotes the idea of prioritising self-care and cultivating a healthy environment.
“People will frustrate you if you allow them to learn to say NO and mean it!! You didn’t come into this world to make everyone happy. If they don’t sum up your energy, politely tell them to f*ck off! Have a blessed day, family,” he said.
Prince David Osei’s remarks come in the midst of increasing appeals for celebrities to prioritise their mental well-being. Prominent figures such as Efya, Kuami Eugene, and Funny Face have openly discussed the challenges and pressures experienced by celebrities in Ghana.

Prince David Osei expressed his belief on Thursday on Instagram that Dr. Bawumia is the most worthy candidate to lead the NPP into the Ghanaian general elections in 2024. He addressed the recent upsurge in critical remarks and scepticism regarding Dr. Bawumia’s suitability as the NPP’s nominee in his post.
He wrote, “I have observed that there is a significant amount of negative comments circulating online regarding the selection of H.E. Dr. Bawumia as the flag bearer of NPP. I find it puzzling that these people express their doubts about his suitability to become president in 2024, yet they are so concerned and attacking him relentlessly. The responsibility to choose a leader lies solely with the delegates and electorate, so this reaction seems unwarranted.”
Prince David Osei went on to suggest that the criticisms and doubts surrounding Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy are indicative of a fear of his potential.
He acknowledged that despite the slanderous comments, he firmly believes that Dr Bawumia is the most deserving candidate to lead the NPP at this time.
“I have faith that victory is assured for Dr Bawumia on November 4th,” he declared.
He concluded by saying, “Forget the noise wai vote No 2 discerning delegates even an ex-president wants to come back to rule Ghana!! So?? 2 sure #itispossible NB: Your insults and trolls won’t change the outcome, please feel free to vent your anger and frustrations devoid of insults .”
rince David Osei’s public expression of support for Dr. Bawumia has become a subject of interest on social media, particularly in the context of the ongoing political discussions as Ghana prepares for the 2024 elections. The NPP primary scheduled for November 4 holds substantial importance in determining the party’s leadership and influencing its strategy for the upcoming general elections

He humorously stated, “No matter how hard I try to avoid the calling, everything shows I have to be the president someday . That’s why my friends in the game don’t want to support me . But what is written is written…”
Prince David Osei believes it is his destiny, asserting that “What is written is written.”

Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei wrote a piece on X (formerly Twitter) lamenting the state and potential future of Ghana.
In a post published on October 16, the actor called attention to the nation’s youth’s propensity for insults and disregard for morals. He pointed out that, especially on various media platforms, insults have come to be the go-to method of expressing opinions.
“I am deeply concerned about the future of Ghana. It pains me to see how we have become a nation of insults, lacking respect for morals. The younger generation finds it acceptable to insult leaders openly on various platforms such as radio, television, and social media. It seems that insults have become the preferred method of expressing opinions,” he said.
He also criticised the actions of those in positions of authority, pointing out their failure to uphold their duties to serve the public. He emphasised the instances of leaders’ pride, greed, and arrogance that have resulted in a lack of accountability while the less fortunate members of society continue to suffer. He also expressed concern about the general sense of apathy among the populace and the youth turning to desperate measures for financial gain.
“Furthermore, those in positions of power appear to have forgotten the responsibility they have to serve the people. Greed, arrogance, and pride have clouded the judgment of our leaders, while the less fortunate continue to suffer without any accountability. The youth of our nation are becoming misguided and desperate, resorting to various means to make money,” he added.
He bemoaned the misappropriation and abuse of public resources as well as the country’s increasing rate of corruption, which he sees as a troubling trend.
“Sadly, it seems that nobody cares anymore. Government properties are misused and abused simply because they belong to the state. This is a distressing situation to witness. The future of our beloved country appears uncertain, with corruption infiltrating every level of society, from the church to the government and beyond,” he posted.
The actor concluded by urging group effort to effect positive change. He urged Ghanaians to adopt new perspectives and conduct themselves differently, stressing that all of the country’s residents, not just a select few, are entitled to citizenship.
Prince David Osei, who had previously supported the ruling party, has turned against it in light of Ghana’s worsening economic situation. Recently, he has been heard urging the government to correct what he has described as shortcomings in its operations.

Renowned Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei, has candidly revealed the obstacles he faced on his journey to stardom in the movie industry.
Speaking to the media, he disclosed that his rise was marred by backstabbing and animosity from certain individuals within the industry who did not want him to succeed.
While some like Ivan Quashigah believed in his talent, there were others working behind the scenes to hinder his progress.
“I felt unwanted in the movie industry. There was this feeling like ‘where is he coming from?’ I felt that bad energy but all the victimization kept me going.
“When I got casted for The Dead, people made mockery of me. Sometimes you go on set, they don’t give you room, you wear something and they tell you it’s too nice. At a point, it was me and Martha Ankomah, Opera Square stopped selling our movies.
Prince mentioned instances when his roles were taken away due to the belief that he wasn’t suitable for them, as decided by those who held significant influence.
Recalling those challenging times, the Fortune Island actor admitted feeling unwanted in the movie industry and faced negative energy questioning his place in the field. However, he credited his determination and drive to succeed for keeping him going and preserving his dreams.
He shared an incident during the casting of “The Dead,” where people mocked him, but his resilience persisted. Prince also recounted moments on set when he encountered resistance and belittlement, such as being told that his wardrobe was too nice for the role.
Despite facing obstacles and deliberate attempts to sabotage his career, Prince encouraged aspiring actors to remain steadfast and determined. He emphasized the importance of attracting the right people and urged newcomers not to give up in the face of industry saboteurs.
In sharing his experience, Prince David Osei offered valuable advice to up-and-coming talents, highlighting the significance of perseverance and commitment in the pursuit of success within the Ghanaian movie industry.
“It’s all about you attracting people. Don’t give up when you come face to face with these kind of people who would sabotage you in the industry.”
Popular Ghanaian filmmaker, Prince David Osei has reacted to Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate already leading in the ongoing Nigeria election.
If Tinubu maintains the lead spot and finally retains power with the ruling party and becomes Nigeria’s next president, the actor said that the same luck will follow NPP in the next election.
The pro-NPP actor said the party will break the eight-year jinx of governance in the country since both parties have the same political fortune.
In a tweet on Tuesday, February 28, Prince Osei wrote, “Just thinking ooo , if APC retains power and Tinubu becomes President this means NPP will also retain power!! Dynamics.”
This comes at a time when provisional results announced by electoral officials in 31 of Nigeria’s 36 states and the federal capital Abuja showed Bola Tinubu, the governing party’s candidate, leading with about 35% of the valid votes counted, while Atiku of the PDP comes right behind with 29%, or nearly 6.2 million valid votes.
To the surprise of many, Peter Obi, who was tipped by experts to be a potential winner, garnered 25%, or about 5.2 million votes.
According to him, not everyone who claims to be a beggar is really poor and that helping some people can kill you before your time.
In a tweet, David Osei explained that some of these so-called beggars can harm the givers.
He emphasised that some of them can even kill the people who genuinely opted to help before their time, so people need to be extra careful and apply wisdom to their philanthropic deeds.
“Not every poor person deserves your help!! Be careful out there, before they kill you before your time!! #wisdom,” he tweeted.
His assertion comes at a time when many people find it difficult to give because of the alleged instances that some of the beggars are agents of devil who are out to destroy people.
Other schools of thought even have it that most of the foreigners begging on the streets are doing so to raise money to sponsor terrorism operations and groups.

Crowds gathered outside St Mary Magdalene Church from the early hours.

The royal standard is flying above the house, marking a return to traditional royal festivities.
The sound of the church organ rang out as members of the Royal Family made the short walk from Sandringham House to the church just before 11:00 GMT.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex and their children, and the Duke of York and his children Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie attended the service.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex who last celebrated Christmas at Sandringham in 2018 were not there.
The King and Queen Consort, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, spoke to crowds following the 45-minute service. Some in the crowd gave them flowers and gifts.
It is the first year the King has hosted the Royal Family’s traditional gathering at the Norfolk estate since the death of his mother.
Queen Elizabeth II hosted 32 Christmases at Sandringham but was forced to cancel her annual festivities in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic.

Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei and comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney, have clashed over the actor’s comment over appreciation of the cedi against the dollar.
For the past few days, the Ghanaian local has been appreciating against the American dollar. As of Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the US dollar depreciated, thereby, trading against the cedi at a buying rate of 11.4943 and a selling price of 11.5058.
A few weeks ago, the dollar was initially selling at GHC14.000. Taunting this as a good sign that Ghanaian economy is getting back on track, the actor took to Twitter to express excitement over the development.
“Hallelujah the Cedi is appreciating remarkably. 9.56ghc to a 1$. The economy is gradually getting back on track!! Now we need to see the effect in our daily lives, goods and services.. God bless ????????,” the actor tweeted.
However, DKB argues that the development isn’t worth celebrating since it hasn’t affected prices of goods and services are still stagnant.
“A reducing exchange rate with no correlating reduction on food prices and fuel prices is useless,” DKB said as a reply to the actor’s post and that graduated into an exchange between Prince David Osei and DKB.
“So would you have preferred the cedi went up to 20ghc per $ before the end of the year? We know we have issues as a country but let’s be hopeful for the small changes we seeing?” Prince David Osei told DKB and it did not end there.
DKB in his response jabbed Prince David Osei for still been bias towards to NPP government.
“You have no option but to celebrate small victories because you have committed to them and you owe allegiance. I don’t owe allegiance to any party, I talk for Ghanaians. Until prices reduce and cash burden on us goes down, we won’t celebrate any damn small Victories! Tueh!” DKB said.
Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney popularly known as DKB and actor Prince David Osei have expressed opposing views over the recent appreciation of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar and other major currencies.
As of Wednesday, December 14, 2022, the US dollar experienced a gradual drop in value, thereby, trading against the cedi at a buying price of GHC10.3948 and a selling price of GHC10.4052.
Identifying that this was a good sign, the actor took to Twitter to express excitement over the development.
A pleased David Osei also rescinded his decision to protest the poor state of the country’s economy as declared earlier.
“Hallelujah the Cedi is appreciating remarkably. 9.56ghc to a 1$. The economy is gradually getting back on track!! Now we need to see the effect in our daily lives, goods and services.. God bless ????????,” Prince David Osei’s Twitterpost captured.
But DKB believes that the development isn’t worth celebrating if prices of goods and services are still stagnant.
“A reducing exchange rate with no correlating reduction on food prices and fuel prices is useless,” he responded to the actor’s post.
In what seemingly graduated into an exchange, Prince David Osei did not let things slide as he took to Twitter with a reply to DKB.
The actor said DKB should learn to appreciate the little changes and be hopeful that things get better instead of criticizing.
“So would you have preferred the cedi went up to 20ghc per $ before the end of the year? We know we have issues as a country but let’s be hopeful for the small changes we seeing?”
It did not end there as DKB retweeted Prince David Osei’s post and threw jabs at the actor who once campaigned for the ruling New Patriotic Party.
“You have no option but to celebrate small victories because you have committed to them and you owe allegiance. I don’t owe allegiance to any party, I talk for Ghanaians. Until prices reduce and cash burden on us goes down, we won’t celebrate any damn small Victories! Tueh!

Prior to this, the dollar was selling at GHC14.00, weeks ago.
The development has seemingly shot up expectations from netizens who believe that it could be a sign of relief from the country’s current economic woes.
Prince David Osei who believes in the same assertion took to Twitter to share his excitement.
“Hallelujah the Cedi is appreciating remarkably. 9.56ghc to a 1$. The economy is gradually getting back on track!! Now we need to see the effect in our daily lives, goods and services.. God bless ????????.”
Earlier in October 2022, the actor in a bid to chastise the government for the country’s poor economic state took to social media to threaten a protest.
“The Youth of this nation are not smiling, it pours, but we are still sweating.. If things don’t change by December, we will mobilize the youth of this country and hit the street irrespective of party affiliations, whether NPP, NDC, CQQ, PNC whatever, doesn’t matter now, we are all in this together”.
In a long post on social media, Prince David Osei who campaigned for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the 2016 general elections said he had regretted his actions.
“I decided to give you and your government the benefit of the doubt, I reckon I was wrong!”
However, the actor has seemingly swallowed his words following the gradual rise of the cedi.
“No more demonstrations. remember I gave an ultimatum for December.”

Speaking in an interview with Sammy Kay Media, Diana Asamoahsaid that she is not experiencing the torture of the economic hardships of the country as many citizens are complaining.
According to her, the people complaining about economic hardships don’t know God and that the reason they are suffering and not because of Nana Addo’s incompetence.
“Forget about the economy; the children are enjoying free education. I’ve only heard the complaints and I’m not experiencing any of those.”
The Onyame Tumfo hitmaker added that her faith in God has always seen her through difficult moments and entreated people to always trust in God.
“I’m blessed beyond measure. I have faith in God and I find comfort in Daniel 11:32, which says that those who behave wickedly against the covenant he will corrupt with flattery, but the people who know their God will be strong and perform great deeds. People who are complaining do not know God.”
She urged Ghanaians who are lamenting about the country’s declining economic fortunes to also turn to God for relief.
A lot of personalities including actors Lydia Forson, Yvonne Nelson and Prince David Osei have publicly condemned the government for the poor economic conditions of the country.
This is because the actor who was an astute promoter of NPP’s ‘4 More To Do More’ campaign in the last general elections has in the last few weeks been on “fire” – giving it back to back to the government for the country’s current economic distress.
His outspokenness, however, seems to come with a price he is paying by receiving threats.
“I have experienced my fair share of threats, insults, trolls and attacks, but I am unperturbed because seriously, I can’t control how people feel about me,” he told Graphic Showbiz in an interview.
According to the actor, there is always a price to pay for an act one indulges in and he is ready for that.
“God is with me in all that I do, so I shall not be moved. In life, you need to stand for something or you fall for anything,” he said.
Prince David Osei noted he has always been enthusiastic about good governance and had been calling out successive governments since late President Atta Mills’ administration.
“I am not someone who is easily pressured. I live by my own rules. I believe in integrity and value for humanity. I have always been outspoken since the era of the late President Atta Mills. I am first a citizen, before a party lover and an aspiring politician.”
“I stood on political platforms to campaign for my party NPP and H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, pleaded, persuaded, convinced Ghanaians to accept NPP’s 4 More To Do More, so it is just rational to speak for the same people when things aren’t going the way we all anticipated amid global economic issues,” he added.
Prince David Osei started giving a hint about his displeasure with the NPP government last year.
He however attracted attention when he threatened to stage a demonstration against the government if things didn’t change in a post on his social media pages early this month.
He gave more impetus to his criticisms of the government when he asked the President to be humble and seek help to change the economic fortunes of the country.
But while all these may seem too harsh coming from one who campaigned for NPP, Prince David Oseisaid his ultimate goal is to see a better Ghana for all citizens irrespective of their political affiliation.
“The NPP faithful are rather happy I spoke up and it’s a big inspiration to them. I interact with the streets always, so I know the atmosphere every time. Sometimes, they give me a message to put out there since they know I have the voice and platform,” he stated.
In addition to the country’s economic woes, the actor is also not happy with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, saying “the ministry responsible for the creatives has failed us.”
The last few years have not been good for the Ghanaian movie industry but, according to Prince David Osei, things are getting better with Akwaaba Magic on DStv and ROKGh also on DStv financing local productions and content.
“We all are a little busy, especially the upcoming ones. We are filming series and movies.”
Moving away from movies, Prince David Osei said he is now concentrating on his Pdo Travel and Tours Limited and planning a trip dubbed ‘London/Jamaica Fiesta’ in December with Kalybos as a way of building stronger bonds with their fans.
There is a substantial precedent in Ghana’s politics under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addoas even MPs of the ruling party are calling for the resignation of the country’s Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta for nonperformance.
These celebrities are yet to speak on the #OforiAttaMustGo campaign trending on social media
The country’s economic downturn has sparked constant calls from more citizens for the resignation of the economic gatekeepers, particularly the finance minister and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen.
Yet in the midst of all these, some celebrities who actively campaigned for the Nana Addo-led administration are yet to comment on the call for the aforementioned to resign or be sacked. Since the declaration was made, #OforiAttaMustGo and #KenMustGo have been trending on social media.
Although some of these ‘NPP celebrity activists’ have called out the government for overseeing a poor economic state, many are expecting them to further throw their weight behind calls for the sacking of the two personalities.
Samini who in the past criticised his colleagues for endorsing political parties and candidates took a U-turn in 2020 when he endorsed Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo through social media posts, interviews, and campaign songs. He mounted political platforms to defend his decision stressing he was convinced Nana Addo needed another term.
Despite the barrage of backlash and criticisms against him, the musician’s support for Nana Addo was inflexible.
Prior to the calls for the two personalities to be axed, Samini made a post and lamented the depreciation of the cedi and other factors that have contributed to the hardship being experienced.
“Dear Nana Akufo-Addo. I supported you to bring change and stability. I believed in the vision and your concept of change! But with 2 years to go, my soul bleeds. Our investments wash away daily as the dollar openly whips our Cedi. Your people are crying. We cannot pretend all is well. But if God has blessed Ghana with anything, it is our ability to stare difficulty right in the face and say, it will #bealright. Ghana must work again! Where is the Nana Addo who begged us for the mandate?” parts of his comments read.
But Samini is yet to add his voice to the campaign seeking to remove Ofori-Atta and Adu Boahen from office for overseeing a failed economy.
The actor was the first ‘Celebrity NPP campaigner’ to call out the government for what he described as the poor management of the country’s economy.
Prince David Osei has not only spoken against the country’s ailing economy but had also issued an ultimatum that should the economic situation in the country not improve by December, he will mobilize the youth to hit the street irrespective of party affiliation and protest.
“If things don’t change by December, we will mobilize the youth of this country and hit the street irrespective of party affiliations, whether NPP, NDC, CQQ, PNC whatever doesn’t matter now, we are all in this together.. God bless our motherland ???????? We want to see improvement in our livelihoods.. If you have to sack some people do it without fear or favor because your legacy is on the line Sir!!” parts of his post read.
However, the actor is yet to support the sacking Ofori-Atta and Adu Boahen.
Unlike Prince David Osei and Samini who have spoken about the economic hardship and the need for a change in the narrative, Kalybos is yet to comment, not to talk of supporting the call for the removal of Ofori-Atta and Adu Boahen from office.
Kalybos’ silence on the economy has been loud and considering that he was one of the celebrities who vigorously campaigned for the NPP, a section of the populace is eager to hear his assessment of the economy.
Bibi Bright
After campaigning her way up to being elected as the secretary for the Creative Arts Council under the current NPP government, Bibi Bright has been silent on political issues.
Like Kalybos, she has not spoken about the hardships in the country; neither has she supported nor kicked against calls for the dismissal of Ofori-Atta and Adu Boahen.
Government has come under criticism from a cross-section of the public due to the current economic crisis.
In the wake of this, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has been at the receiving end from almost all and sundry.
While the “ordinary citizens” have been agitating on and off social media, Ghanaian celebrities have also not held back from expressing their dissatisfaction against government.
In the past week, some Ghanaian celebrities have called on President Nana Akufo-Addo and the Minister of Finance to sit up and address the economic crisis fraught the country.
Below are some celebrities who have waded into the national conversation
The Ghanaian actor is one of the familiar supporters of the ruling government. He, alongside other celebrities like Kalybos was seen to be involved heavily clothed in NPP paraphernalia campaigning for the then Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
However, the movie star has openly displayed his disappointment in the government. In a tweet sighted by GhanaWeb, Prince called on government to seek help.
“Can we all put aside politics, humble ourselves and seek help from whoever has the ideas or in-depth knowledge on how to stop the further depreciation of our currency and stabilize our economy,” he tweeted.
The movie producer and actress is another popular figure who has not held back from bashing the government and calling for urgent steps to change the current tides.
In 2015, Yvonne Nelson led a demonstration against power cuts in Ghana, popularly known as “Dumsor”. Being a citizen and not a spectator as President Akufo-Addo implored Ghanaians, the model has this time taken to Twitter to quiz the President over his governance.
“Are you still the President? Are you still in this country? Are you this heartless? Do you hear people crying? Are you this heartless? No more campaign ahead so you are unbothered. You obviously feel nothing for Ghanaians. Such a disappointment”, she lamented.
The Ghanaian actress and social critic have also been vociferous over the state of affairs. She has opined that the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, needs to resign.
According to her, the minister has performed woefully and thus is unfit to continue occupying his position.
Furthermore, she has asked the government to take a cue from Britain, whose Prime Minister has resigned her inability to lead.
“I really wish Gabby Otchere Darko’s obsession & admiration for the UK parliament included taking pointers as well on resignations and firing. It makes absolutely no sense that Ken Ofori Attah is still the finance minister; how? He’s lost the confidence of the people! She said in a tweet.
The Ghanaian media personality and General Manager of GHOne TV and Starr FM has penned a long letter to Ken Ofori Atta.
The TV host in the letter discusses how the minister has failed in his capacity and needs him to resign. She called the minister an absolute failure in managing the economy and driving it into an abyss.
A portion of the letter reads, “Hmm. Maybe a part of you wants to leave and your cousin (President Akufo Addo-Addo) is backing you to the hilt on the altar of loyalty. But for God’s, spare the entire nation this prolonged spectacle of failure and let go of the burning rod.”
