The Princess of Wales joined the Irish Guards to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, where she sipped half a pint of Guinness during the event.

Dressed in a deep green outfit with a matching hat, Catherine carried out her traditional duty of handing out sprigs of shamrock to officers, guardsmen, and Seamus, the regiment’s Irish wolfhound mascot, at the annual parade at Wellington Barracks.

She also treated the soldiers by covering the cost of drinks at the bar, saying, “That’s the least I can do.”

As the colonel of the regiment since 2023, Catherine missed last year’s celebrations due to her cancer diagnosis.

Before the parade, she presented medals for long service and good conduct to soldiers who had recently returned from Iraq. She then led the march-past as the regiment’s colonel.

After the formal ceremony, Catherine joined the junior ranks in their dining hall, where a senior guardsman proposed a toast in her honor. While drinking Guinness, she engaged in conversations with soldiers about their time on deployment.
Guardsman Barry Loughlin, who led the toast, said afterwards: “She wanted to know how things were going with the blokes in general.
“She was really nice and really warm. I was kind of flustered.
“You could tell she had a genuine interest in us.”
Catherine then went to the sergeants’ mess where she met with relatives of soldiers serving overseas, including those involved in training Ukrainian troops.
The event dates back to the first regimental St Patrick’s Day in 1901.

I have cancer – Princess of Wales, Catherine confirms

On Friday, Catherine, Princess of Wales, disclosed that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing treatment in the early stages.

In a video statement shared on social media, Kate, as she is commonly known, expressed her diagnosis as a significant surprise.

This announcement follows her temporary withdrawal from public engagements two months ago, when Kensington Palace announced her undergoing surgery for a non-cancerous abdominal condition.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” said Catherine, 42, who is married to the heir to the British throne, Prince William.

“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

Kate continued that “William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

The princess added, “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.”

Kate said that she had told them she is “well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.”

She expressed gratitude to Prince William for his unwavering support, describing him as a constant source of comfort and reassurance throughout her journey. Additionally, she acknowledged the overwhelming support from the public during this challenging time.

“We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery,” the princess said.

She ended her heartfelt message by saying that she was also keeping “all those whose lives have been affected by cancer” in her thoughts.

“For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone,” Kate concluded in the video statement, which was filmed by BBC Studios at Windsor on Wednesday.

  • Kate Middleton to rest for several months following stomach surgery

Kate Middleton to rest for several months following stomach surgery

The Princess of Wales had an operation on her stomach and is now in the hospital getting better, according to Kensington Palace.

She went to The London Clinic yesterday and will stay there for about two weeks to get better after having a successful surgery on her stomach.

She will rest at home in Windsor for a few more weeks and be checked on regularly.

According to doctors, the Princess probably won’t be able to go back to her usual work until after Easter.

The Palace didn’t say what she was treated for but said it wasn’t cancer.

King Charles will have an operation for a big prostate next week, said Buckingham Palace.

Kensington Palace said that Princess Kate was taken to the hospital for a planned surgery on her stomach.

The surgery went well, and she will stay in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before going home to recover.

According to the doctors, it’s not likely that she will be back to work in public until after Easter.

The Princess of Wales is glad that people will be interested in this statement. She wants people to understand that she wants her kids to have a normal life, and she wants her health information to stay private.

Kensington Palace will only give updates on Her Royal Highness when there is important new information to share.

The Princess of Wales is sorry that she has to cancel her upcoming events and hopes everyone understands. She is excited to bring back as many people as she can, as soon as she can.

Prince William will also not do his official job when his wife is in the hospital and when she comes back home.

He will stay with her and take care of their three kids, George, Charlotte, and Louis, and will cancel some plans.

This means the couple will not be able to attend important events like the Bafta awards and the Royal Family’s annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.

At the London Clinic, Kate is getting medical care.

Kate had surgery at a well-known hospital in London that has been used by important people like Prince Philip and Princess Margaret in the past. She is now getting better there.

A few doctors from Harley Street wanted to start a new nursing home with the best medical care available at that time.

The website says it was started with the idea of offering great service all in one spot.

The hospital does operations and tests to check for problems, treats sicknesses and injuries, and provides blood and blood products.

It has seven big rooms for surgery, three extra rooms for surgery, and six special areas for different kinds of surgery like urology, gynaecology, thoracic surgery, orthopaedics, and spinal procedures.

Since 1935, the hospital has been a charity and has helped train new doctors and nurses. It has also paid for Europe’s biggest stem cell collection unit.

Several buildings at the site have been opened by royal family members since the 1980s.

Prince Charles opened the physiotherapy department in 1989, Princess Margaret opened the MRI unit in 1991, and the Queen revealed a new cancer unit in 2010.

In June 2021, a report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) said the hospital is doing a good job.

The hospital sees around 23,000 people staying overnight and another 110,000 people for appointments, according to the health organization.

Other well-known people who went to the hospital were former US president John F Kennedy and actress Elizabeth Taylor. Elizabeth Taylor went to the hospital after she fell from a movie set.

Kate will be in the hospital for 10 to 14 days to get better.

Kate and William won’t be traveling to other countries in the next few months. The royal officials will let us know how Kate is doing when the time is right.

Two trips abroad that were supposed to happen soon have been delayed.

The rest of the Middleton family will come together to support Kate at home.

This includes mom and dad, Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as brothers and sisters Pippa Matthews and James Middleton.

Kate went to the hospital because she had very bad morning sickness when she was pregnant.

Kate was last seen in public a little over three weeks ago during Christmas Day. She was celebrating at Sandringham.

She was seen with William and their three kids as they greeted people at the usual church service.

Kate celebrated her 42nd birthday on January 9 and shared a picture of herself from behind the scenes of King Charles’s coronation.

The London Clinic has helped other members of the royal family in the past, such as Prince Philip and Princess Margaret.

  • King Charles greets crowds at Sandringham after Christmas Day service

King Charles greeted crowds at Sandringham after attending a Christmas Day church service for the first time as monarch.

The King and Camilla, the Queen Consort were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales, their children and other senior royals at the Norfolk estate.

Crowds gathered outside St Mary Magdalene Church from the early hours.

It is the first time members of the Royal Family have spent Christmas at Sandringham House since 2019.

The royal standard is flying above the house, marking a return to traditional royal festivities.

The sound of the church organ rang out as members of the Royal Family made the short walk from Sandringham House to the church just before 11:00 GMT.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex and their children, and the Duke of York and his children Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie attended the service.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex who last celebrated Christmas at Sandringham in 2018 were not there.

The King and Queen Consort, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, spoke to crowds following the 45-minute service. Some in the crowd gave them flowers and gifts.

It is the first year the King has hosted the Royal Family’s traditional gathering at the Norfolk estate since the death of his mother.

Queen Elizabeth II hosted 32 Christmases at Sandringham but was forced to cancel her annual festivities in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic.

Later this afternoon the King’s first Christmas Day message will be broadcast. It was recorded on 13 December in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where the late Queen was buried in September.

Crowds started gathering outside St Mary Magdalene Church in the early hours hoping to catch a glimpse of the royals and to speak to them as they walked back to the house following the service.

Sandringham House has been the private home of British monarchs for more than 160 years.

  • Is Messi the G.O.A.T? Prince and Princess of Wales quiz

The Prince of Wales, Prince William and Princess of Wales, Catherine Elizabeth Middleton have congratulated Lionel Messi and Argentina for emerging winners of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

In a tweet on Monday, the royals wrote: “What. A. Final. Congratulations to Argentina and to Messi.”

However, they left a question many have asked since the end of the World Cup. Is Messi the Greatest Of All Time (G.O.A.T)?

Messi has had to share that rank with Cristiano Ronaldo, but after acquiring a World Cup victory, something Ronaldo has not been able to achieve, many believe the tag G.O.A.T best fits Messi and no one else.

However, others contend Ronaldo remains the G.O.A.T.

Meanwhile, the British royals have condoled with France after failing to defend their title.

“Commiserations to France – both teams played brilliantly,” they tweeted.

Since the tournament, Kylian Mbappe has been praised for his phenomenal performance. He scored a hat trick and won the golden boot for scoring 8 goals at the World Cup.

  • Prince Harry to release his memoir in January

The Duke of Sussex’s memoir will be published on 10 January, his publisher Penguin Random House has said.

The book by Prince Harry – which will include his own account of his decision to give up royal duties and move to the US – will be titled Spare.

Random House said: “As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling – and how their lives would play out…

“For Harry, this is his story at last.”

Some of the proceeds from the book will be used to support British charities, including Sentebale and WellChild. The publisher confirmed this was in the form of two donations of $1.5m and £300,000 respectively to the two named charities.

Prince Harry to release his memoir in January

Spare, the title of Prince Harry’s memoir, is presumably a nod to the phrase that monarchies need an “heir and a spare”.

Prince William is the heir and Prince Harry will tell his version of his life in that ambiguous territory of the “spare”, the younger royal sibling unlikely to ever be on the throne and therefore looking for their own sense of purpose.

This book, a guaranteed best-seller before a page has been printed, promises “raw, unflinching honesty”, and the cover shows a steely-looking Prince Harry.

But it will also have to be a delicate balancing act. Much has changed since this book was first announced. Queen Elizabeth II has died, his father is King, Camilla is Queen Consort. The book itself is now later than expected.

There will be more of an appetite for tell-all tales, rather than therapy speak about self-discovery. But how many bridges will be burned by saying too much? How many of the incendiary grievances raised by Prince Harry and Meghan in the Oprah TV interview will get another rerun?

Who will he spare in the process?

When the deal for Prince Harry to write his story was announced in 2021, the prince promised he would reflect “the highs and lows” and be “accurate and wholly truthful”.

That theme is picked up in the publicity statement for the book, which says: “With its raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.”

The book will be published on the same date worldwide and it will be available in 16 languages.

  • More stand-ins for the King, but Prince Andrew and Prince Harry remain

The number of royals permitted to stand in for King Charles for official duties is likely to be increased, according to sources.

The current pool of five “counsellors of state” could be expanded, possibly including royals such as Princess Anne and Prince Edward.

Prince Andrew and Prince Harry would retain their positions.

Counsellors can carry out important constitutional duties if the monarch is unwell or overseas.

But there were questions in the House of Lords this week about the need to update the rules for eligibility.

Labour peer Viscount Stansgate had challenged how Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, could be two of the five potential replacements when one had “left public life” and the other had “left the country”.

Any update will require an amendment to the Regency Act, which is under the auspices of the Cabinet Office, but there appears to be momentum behind such a constitutional change.

However, it is expected that the response will be to widen the number of royals who can act on behalf of the monarch, making a more flexible list of available working royals – rather than removing Prince Andrew and Prince Harry.

Depending on the legislative timetable, there could be changes later this year, reflecting the need to have stand-ins in place when both the King and Queen Consort and Prince and Princess of Wales could be on overseas trips in 2023.

Under the Regency Act, counsellors of state are the spouse of the monarch and the next four in the line of succession, over the age of 21.

At present these are Camilla, the Queen Consort; Prince William, the Prince of Wales; Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex; Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and his daughter, Princess Beatrice.

They can carry out official duties, such as signing documents, receiving ambassadors, or attending Privy Council meetings, if the monarch is temporarily ill or abroad,

    Royal family
IMAGE SOURCE, PETER NICHOLLS Image caption, Counsellors of state could be needed if the King is travelling overseas

This authority was used earlier this year to allow the then Prince Charles to carry out the State Opening of Parliament on behalf of the late Queen.

Labour peer Viscount Stansgate – who is Stephen Benn, the eldest son of Labour politician Tony Benn – said this showed the value of updating the Regency Act, to ensure royals were available to stand in.

“It is the only reason why it was possible to open the current session of this Parliament,” he told peers in the House of Lords.

He called on the government to approach the King over changes to the current arrangements, now that Prince Harry was living in the United States and Prince Andrew no longer carried out royal duties.

Lord Addington, a Liberal Democrat, suggested that working royals – “somebody who actually undertakes royal duties” – should be given priority for these roles.

In response, the Lord Privy Seal, Lord True, said he would not comment on “specific circumstances” of counselors, but he did not rule out a change.

“The government will always consider what arrangements are needed to ensure resilience in our constitutional arrangements,” Lord True told peers.

“And in the past we have seen that the point of accession has proved a useful opportunity to consider the arrangements in place.”

Changes to the legislation would be the responsibility of the Cabinet Office and a spokeswoman referred back to the comments of the Lord Privy Seal.

Representatives of Prince Harry and Prince Andrew declined to comment.

“It was lovely to meet some of the new mothers and their babies who are supported by such a brilliant team at the hospital,” the Princess of Wales shared on the official Kensington Royal Twitter account. “Focusing on maternal mental health and pioneering overnight facilities, Royal Surrey County Hospital helps women feel safe, supported, and have the best chance of developing those all-important early attachments, crucial to ensuring their babies thrive.”

The visit to the hospital was a meaningful one for Kate, who has made early childhood development a focus of her royal work.

Also on Wednesday, Kate’s husband William, the Prince of Wales, visited St. George’s Park, the English Football Association’s national football center in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, to celebrate the venue’s 10th anniversary. William and Kate, then the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, officially opened the facility in October 2012.

  • Queen’s service: Who sat where in St George’s Chapel?

Prince William, the heir to the throne, sat in the same seat his father occupied during Prince Philip’s funeral.

The Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte were seated next to the Prince of Wales at the end of the row, followed by Harry and his wife the Duchess of Sussex.

The Princess of Wales and the Duke of Sussex were seated next to Princess Charlotte on the front bench.

Keen observers noticed that Harry and Princess Charlotte shared a moment during the service at St George’s Chapel.

Princess Charlotte was seen adjusting her hat before looking over at her uncle.

Harry then briefly looked up and caught her eye and smiled at the princess.

King Charles sat in the same seat his mother, Queen Elizabeth, occupied during the funeral of her husband, and his father, Prince Philip last year.

Next to him was his wife, Camilla, the Queen Consort. Next in the row was Princess Anne, with her husband Sir Timothy Lawrence, Prince Andrew and his two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and their respective husbands.

Prince Edward and his wife Sophie sat directly in front of the new monarch, with their two children Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn.
