Mbappe sues PSG for ‘moral harassment’ over contract extension

France forward Kylian Mbappe is suing his former Paris Saint-Germain over what he describes as moral harassment.

The suit stems from an alleged treatment the French club subjected the current Real Madrid star to when he informed them of his intention to leave on a free transfer in June 2023 and would not be triggering the optional one-year extension in his deal.

Following this, it’s reported that the club, on the other hand, sidelined him and placed him on “loft”—a group of sidelined players—during the 2023 pre-season.

This, Mbappé’s legal team contends was a form of psychological pressure intended to coerce the French forward into triggering the one-year contract extension clause or sign a new contract.

A court in Paris assigned two judges to investigate the situation after Mbappe complained on May 16, according to RMC Sport.

The investigation and case run on the side of the current legal tussle between the player and his former club over unpaid wages.

According to Mbappe, PSG owes him €55 million (about $61 million) in unpaid wages and bonuses, particularly in the final months to the expiry of his contract.

A claim the club blatantly denies saying, club, Mbappé voluntarily gave up those earnings by choosing not to extend his stay.

This amount relates to the final months of his contract.

PSG aren’t the only club accused of dumping players in an attempt to make them sign a new contract or accept an offer from elsewhere.

The Professional Footballers’ Union filed a complaint back in January 2024 against French clubs for the same practice.

Earlier, PSG women’s team player Kheira Hamraoui sued PSG for similar treatment.

Meanwhile, PSG formally announced the end of the era between the club and Kylian Mbappé at the end of the 2023–24 season.

This was after Kylianpublicly announced on May 10, 2024, that he would not renew his contract.

In a heartfelt video, he confirmed, “It’s my last year at Paris Saint-Germain. I will not extend, and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks.”

Real Madrid then announced Mbappé’s signing on June 3, 2024, confirming a five-year deal that runs through 2029. The club announced an official statement and coordinated social media posts.

Thomas Partey doesn’t always get the recognition he deserves- Declan Rice

Declan Rice has showered praise on Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey, insisting that the Black Stars deputy captain is vastly underrated.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s high-stakes UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain, Rice highlighted Partey’s importance to the team.

Arsenal head into the match in France trailing 1-0 on aggregate, having missed Partey’s presence in the first leg due to suspension.

The Gunners struggled early in that match, with PSG taking control and scoring the decisive goal in the fourth minute through Ousmane Dembele.

Reflecting on the upcoming clash set for Wednesday, May 7, Rice expressed his admiration for Partey, noting that the former Atletico Madrid star brings immense quality and composure to the midfield.

“The best thing about playing with Thomas [Partey] is the calmness he brings to play with the team. Before I came to Arsenal there was so much talk about how good he is.

He doesn’t always get the recognition he deserves. I am quite lucky Thomas is there and he lets me roam up and down.”

Partey is in the final months of his contract with Arsenal and negotiations between his camp and the Gunners on a new deal have been reported.

Incredible performance, the best game I have been a part of – Slot on loss to PSG

Liverpool manager Arne Slot called his team’s Champions League exit against Paris Saint-Germain “the best game of football I’ve been involved in,” despite the disappointing result.

After a 1-0 defeat in the first leg in Paris, Liverpool needed a strong performance at Anfield. However, PSG extended their advantage early when Ousmane Dembélé scored in the 12th minute.

Liverpool created several scoring chances but failed to find the net, pushing the match into extra time. With no goals in the additional minutes, the game was decided by a penalty shootout.

PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made crucial saves against Darwin Núñez and Curtis Jones, while Desire Doué scored the decisive penalty, giving PSG a 4-1 victory in the shootout and ending Liverpool’s Champions League campaign.

“It was the best game of football I have ever been involved in,” Slot said on Amazon Prime.

“It was an incredible performance, especially if you compare it with last week. Maybe we ran out of luck because the margins were so small.

“We played the perfect game, except for scoring a goal. It was similar to Paris last week, when they played the perfect game and didn’t score. And then in extra time, they were maybe a little bit better.”

Liverpool still has two domestic trophies to chase despite their Champions League exit.

They are almost guaranteed to win the Premier League, holding a comfortable 15-point lead at the top of the table. Additionally, they have a chance to secure silverware when they face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

“We were pretty good and you want to go as far as possible, but we knew when we drew Paris that it was going to be very difficult,” admitted Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

“In Paris, we struggled but we won. Today we saw a very good Liverpool side, but we’re out of the competition.”

Scotland left-back Andy Robertson said the focus will turn to Newcastle now as he added: “It wasn’t meant to be and we need to dust ourselves down. We always bounce back, there’s a lot of tired legs in there. Cup finals, we enjoy them, and that’s the biggest game.”

PSG boss Luis Enrique felt Liverpool were unlucky as he said: “Both of the teams deserve to go to the next phase.

“They played better than us here, but I think my team at Anfield, in a special stadium showed great personality and character.

“I think it shows clearly the team we are.”

Youssouf Mulumbu calls on PSG to review “blood stained” Visit Rwanda deal

Former captain of DR Congo, Youssouf Mulumbu, has called on Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to reassess its sponsorship deal with Visit Rwanda in light of the severe conflict and humanitarian crisis in his country.

His plea comes amidst rising violence in eastern DR Congo, where the M23 rebels—reportedly supported by Rwanda—have taken control of key regions, including the vital city of Goma.

According to the United Nations, approximately 700,000 people have been displaced by the conflict this year alone.

In a conversation with BBC World Service, Mulumbu highlighted the profound impact of the crisis, describing it as a “financial war” driven by competition over DR Congo’s substantial mineral resources, especially tantalum, an essential element in smartphone manufacturing.

“The situation is very, very hard and very painful, and all this conflict is based on finance,” Mulumbu said.

“It’s not a religious or territory war. It’s a financial war and people need to know that.”

The crisis has prompted DR Congo’s foreign minister, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, to urge PSG, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich to end their partnerships with Rwanda’s tourism board, describing the deals as “blood-stained.”

The former West Brom midfielder Mulumbu added, “I want to thank the minister, because she did very big work.

“And all I know is that on a sponsorship, there is a financial part.

“We are going to do our best to inform [about] this deal and what’s behind it. I think it will be a big step if we can cancel this Visit Rwanda [partnership].”

While Arsenal and PSG have yet to respond, Bayern Munich stated it is monitoring the situation and remains in contact with the German foreign ministry.

Real Madrid breaks records with over €1 billion in revenue – Deloitte

Real Madrid is the first football club to earn more than €1 billion ($1.04 billion) in a year, according to a report by Deloitte on Thursday.

The report, which looks at the 2023-24 season, shows that the Spanish and European champions made €1.045 billion in revenue, putting them at the top of the list.

Manchester City is in second place with €838 million, followed by Paris Saint-Germain with €806 million, Manchester United with €771 million, and Bayern Munich with €765 million.

English Premier League clubs dominate the top 10, with Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea also making the list.

The 20 clubs included in the study collectively received €11.2 billion, which is up 6% on 2022-23, Deloitte said.

In the 2023-24 season, Real Madrid achieved major successes, winning the Champions League after defeating Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley and securing La Liga with a 10-point lead over second-place Barcelona.

Their total revenue of €1 billion came from €248 million in matchday income, €316 million from broadcasting rights, and €482 million in commercial earnings.

The ongoing improvements to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium contributed to a significant increase in matchday revenue, which doubled compared to the previous year.

Madrid’s €248 million from matchdays is the highest of any club, with Paris Saint-Germain coming in second at €170 million.

Their commercial revenue also grew by 19%, surpassing all other clubs.

Deloitte reported that the revenue gap between the top two clubs, Real Madrid and Manchester City, is now a record €208 million, making it the largest difference ever seen in the study.

Mbappe became a bit jealous after Messi’s arrivalat PSG – Neymar tells the genesis of fights with teammate

Brazilian footballer Neymar has shared that his relationship with French player Kylian Mbappé grew tense after Lionel Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Neymar explained that he initially had a good relationship with Mbappé and often admired his incredible football talent.

However, things reportedly changed between them when Messi transferred to PSG from Barcelona, starting a new chapter for the club.

“Mbappé wasn’t annoying at first! When Messi arrived, I think he became a little jealous… We had a little fight. He was like a younger brother to me; I used to call him ‘Golden Boy.’ I spoke to him, played with him, and told him he’d become one of the best.

“I always helped and had conversations with him. When Leo arrived, he became a little jealous. He didn’t want to share me with anyone! [laughs] That’s how the fights started, and his behavior changed,” Neymar narrated, as shared by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X.

Achraf Hakimi details why he saves his salary in his mother’s account

Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi has revealed that he entrusts his salary to his mother, reflecting the strong bond and trust they share.

The PSG defender recently made headlines after reports surfaced that his wife, during their divorce, couldn’t claim his money because his earnings had been sent to his mother.

In an interview with abtalks, Hakimi explained that his mother has handled his finances since the beginning of his career to help him stay financially disciplined.

“My mother has managed my money since the beginning of my career. She makes sure that I don’t spend too much. A mother is the only person who will love you, whether you are rich or poor,” he said.

The former Real Madrid defender also addressed how rape allegations against him caused him to lose trust in humanity while expressing appreciation for the justice system’s efforts to exonerate him.

“I filed a complaint when I knew it was an attempt at blackmail. The justice system handled the case well, and the truth will come out. This incident taught me not to trust those around me,” he added.

The 26-year-old has been with PSG since leaving Inter Milan in 2021 and has played over a hundred matches for the French champions.

PSG wins French Super Cup with late strike from Dembele

Ousmane Dembélé’s stoppage-time goal secured a 1-0 victory for Paris Saint-Germain over AS Monaco in the French Super Cup on Sunday. The win marked PSG’s third consecutive Super Cup triumph.

The Ligue 1 champions, who took on Monaco after winning both the league and French Cup last season, claimed their 13th title in the competition’s history and their 11th in the past 12 years.

The match, held at Doha’s Stadium 974—constructed from recycled shipping containers for the 2022 World Cup—was action-packed. PSG dominated with 27 attempts, including nine shots on target, but struggled to score until Dembélé’s decisive goal in the final moments.

Ousmane Dembélé ensured Paris Saint-Germain avoided a penalty shootout with a dramatic injury-time winner, securing a 1-0 victory over AS Monaco.

Two minutes into stoppage time, Dembélé found the back of the net with a precise shot into the far corner after Fabián Ruiz set him up with a well-placed pass across the goal.

Earlier in the game, summer signing Désiré Doué nearly gave PSG an early lead but struck the crossbar in the ninth minute. Just before halftime, Lee Kang-In’s long-range attempt was denied by Monaco goalkeeper Philipp Köhn.

Throughout the first half, Dembélé and Vitinha also challenged Köhn with dangerous shots.

On the other side, Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche and Takumi Minamino tested PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was back in action after recovering from a facial injury.

No goals were scored in the first half of a French Super Cup for the first time since 2010 when Marseille beat PSG 5-4 on penalties after the match ended goalless.

PSG, who beat Nantes and Toulouse in the previous two editions, won 4-2 at Monaco last month in Ligue 1 with Dembélé scoring a second-half brace.

Luis Enrique admits PSG had a tough one with no ‘superior’ Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach Luis Enrique has admitted uncertainty about how long it will take to rebuild his team into a top contender in Europe following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Arsenal in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.

With the summer departure of star player Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid, PSG, a team in the midst of transition, experienced their first loss of the season.

Arsenal took control of the game with first-half goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka, while PSG came close with two efforts hitting the post but ultimately struggled to break down the Premier League team’s defence.

Enrique, who sidelined Ousmane Dembélé due to disciplinary issues, took responsibility for the loss but raised concerns over his squad’s lack of determination.

“Today we were far away from the standards you need in this kind of match. Arsenal were much better in terms of pressure and intensity; they won every duel,” Luis Enrique told reporters.

“It’s impossible to play for a positive result when you don’t win any of your duels on the pitch; their defenders anticipated our attackers, and our defenders didn’t anticipate their attackers. Arsenal were superior.”

Last season, the Spaniard guided PSG to the Champions League semifinals, overcoming his former team, Barcelona, in the quarterfinals, with Mbappé netting twice and Dembélé also scoring to reverse the result in the second leg.

Currently leading Ligue 1 and having secured a win against Girona in their opening Champions League group match, Luis Enrique acknowledged that facing Arsenal presented a much tougher challenge for his team.

“I can’t properly evaluate the level of our team; we will have to wait until the end of the season,” he said.

“This was our first big rival at a higher level. We knew from the first minute they would press us high, and they did it aggressively, and we couldn’t cope with that pressure.

“[Arsenal manager] Mikel [Arteta] has been here for five years; I’ve been in Paris for one year and two months. I don’t know where we are. I have a clear idea where I want us to be, but I don’t know how much time I will need.”

PSG axe Dembele from squad for Arsenal trip

France’s Ousmane Dembele has been excluded from Paris Saint-Germain’s roster for their Champions League match against Arsenal on Tuesday, according to a source familiar with the club’s operations.

This decision is not due to an injury but is attributed to coach Luis Enrique’s choice.

Reports suggest that this disciplinary action follows a tense confrontation between Dembele and Enrique after PSG’s 3-1 victory over Rennes last Friday, as noted by sports outlet L’Equipe.

In the absence of the in-form Dembele, who has scored four goals and provided three assists in six league appearances this season, PSG will likely depend more on Bradley Barcola.

Barcola currently leads the French league in scoring with six goals, including two from the recent win over Rennes.

Additionally, Marco Asensio is facing a race against time to recover from an injury sustained during PSG’s Champions League match against Girona two weeks ago.

  • Neymar returns to Al Hilal training after long injury sideline

Neymar returns to Al Hilal training after long injury sideline

Brazilian football sensation Neymar, aged 32, has resumed team training with Al Hilal on Monday, marking his comeback after almost a year sidelined due to a left knee injury.

Neymar transferred to the Saudi club from Paris Saint-Germain in a high-profile move in August 2023, but his time on the field was limited to just five matches before suffering a rupture of his meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament while playing for the national team in October.

“Happy to be back in the group,” Neymar posted on Instagram, with pictures of him running and kicking the ball, watched by Al Hilal’s Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus.

After surgery, Neymar resumed individual training in July. His return to competitive games will depend on “his technical readiness and the coach’s decision,” a club official who asked to remain anonymous told AFP.

Brazil’s head coach, Dorival Junior, has called for patience regarding Neymar’s recovery as he has excluded the star forward from the squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Peru.

Currently, Al Hilal, the reigning champions of the Saudi league, has not yet registered Neymar for this season of the Saudi Pro League, which commenced last month.

Nevertheless, the former Barcelona star, earning approximately 100 million euros (£83.6 million) annually, is slated to participate in the AFC Champions League, Asia’s premier club competition.

Even without Neymar, Al Hilal dominated the Saudi league last season, finishing unbeaten with 31 victories and three draws.

The Riyadh club also achieved an impressive streak of 34 consecutive wins across all competitions before being halted in the Champions League semi-finals by Al Ain from the UAE.

  • PSG’s Luis Enrique admits he prefers a 50% pay cut over meeting with the press

PSG’s Luis Enrique admits he prefers a 50% pay cut over meeting with the press

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has said he is willing to take “a 50% pay cut” if it meant he could avoid talking to the press.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s Ligue 1 game against Rennes, Enrique said: “I have a lot of fun with you [the journalists], that is the truth.

“I’ve never shortened a press conference. I love to talk … But if I had the choice and right now I could sign a piece of paper saying I don’t talk to the press anymore and have 25%, in fact 50 % taken off [wages], I would sign it.

“But I think it’s going to be impossible because the contracts that the clubs sign demand that the coach speaks. I have a good time but if I could avoid it, I would; especially the post-game press conferences because I don’t have the energy to put up with certain things.”

The former Barcelona, Roma and Spain coach recently showed his frustration during a news conference when he was asked about former player Kylian Mbappé’s start to life at Real Madrid.

The Spanish manager vigorously shook his head when asked for his opinion on Mbappé’s performance and how his club will move on without him.

“My God … my God! You’re still here?” Enrique said. “Do you live here [in Paris] or what? Did you enjoy the Olympics? Good.”

Mbappé’s transfer saga ended in June when the forward agreed to join Madrid as a free agent after his contract with PSG expired.

The theme of the press conferences was always centred on the France captain, much to the exasperation of Enrique.

When asked in May, if he had spoken to Mbappé about his move to Madrid, Luis Enrique said: “I think that today is a rainy day, but at the same time very nice because it allows you to breathe a different air.

“I like rainy days, it reminds me of my homeland, Gijón. I think I have answered perfectly what you asked me.”

PSG stands by defender Nuno Mendes after racial abuse in new message

Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) Nuno Mendes faced a wave of racist and abusive messages on social media after a French league match.

The club swiftly denounced the harassment and expressed its complete support for the Portuguese left-back, who was targeted following PSG’s 3-1 victory over Brest on Saturday.

Mendes, who is black, posted a racist message he received on his Instagram account.

The incident occurred after Mendes fouled Ludovic Ajorque in the penalty area, allowing Romain Del Castillo to score and put Brest ahead during the game.

“Paris Saint-Germain doesn’t tolerate racism, antisemitism, or any other form of discrimination,” the club said.

“The racial insults directed at Nuno Mendes are totally unacceptable… We are working with the relevant authorities and associations to ensure those responsible are held accountable for their actions.”

Portuguese Football Federation president Fernando Gomes has expressed his solidarity.

“It is deplorable that in the 21st century we still have to deal with so many prejudices and racist attitudes,” Gomes said in a statement.

PSG ordered to pay Mbappé $61m of unpaid wages

The French league’s legal commission has mandated Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to pay Kylian Mbappé €55 million (approximately $61 million) in unpaid wages, the league announced on Thursday.

The decision follows Mbappé’s recent dispute with his former club over unpaid salaries and bonuses.

The ruling comes after Mbappé rejected a mediation offer from the commission, seeking a resolution through official channels. The dispute involves claims for three months of unpaid salary and the final installment of a loyalty bonus.

Mbappé, who transferred to Real Madrid this summer on a free transfer, had previously requested the league commission’s intervention to address the nonpayment issues.

On Wednesday, PSG officials and Mbappé’s representatives convened in Paris to discuss the matter. After the meeting, Mbappé’s representatives confirmed to The Associated Press that the striker had formally requested the commission to recognize the unpaid wages and the remaining portion of his loyalty bonus.

“We are not paying” – PSG tells Mbappe in new ruling over the €55m unpaid wages case

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has been ordered to pay Kylian Mbappe €55 million in unpaid wages following a ruling by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) on Thursday.

The decision comes after Mbappe filed a legal claim against his former club, asserting he was owed this amount.

Attempts to resolve the issue through mediation were declined by Mbappe on Wednesday, leading to the LFP’s directive for PSG to compensate the France striker for three months’ salary and the final third of a promised bonus, according to RMC Sport.

Mbappe’s departure from PSG was marked by dissatisfaction and broken promises, ending a turbulent tenure at the Parc des Princes.

His exit on a free transfer this summer has already been a significant blow to PSG, considering his status as one of the top players globally.

The additional €55 million payout compounds the loss. Despite this, PSG has announced its intention to contest the ruling and pursue further legal recourse.

In response to the LFP’s verdict, PSG issued a four-word message to Mbappe: “We are not paying.”

The French club told the AP, via ESPN: “In light of the limitations of the commission’s legal scope to take a complete decision on this matter, the matter must now be contested in another legal forum, to which Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to present all the facts over the coming months and year.”

They added: “As a matter of law and fact, the player has made clear, repeated public and private commitments that must be respected, having been afforded unprecedented benefits by the club over seven years in Paris.

And the club looks forward to these being upheld in the proper forum, if the player seeks to pursue this incomprehensibly reputationally damaging matter further, in due course.”

We haven’t heard the last of this, then. While PSG’s lawyers will be busy plotting their next legal move, Mbappe is preparing for Real Madrid’s meeting with Real Sociedad on Saturday evening.

Paris St-Germain began life without Kylian Mbappe in commanding fashion, cruising to a dominant victory over Le Havre in their Ligue 1 opener.

The reigning champions wasted no time as Lee Kang-in found the net just three minutes into the match, setting the tone for PSG’s first competitive game since Mbappe’s departure to Real Madrid.

Despite Gautier Lloris leveling the score for the hosts shortly after the break, PSG took control in the later stages.

Ousmane Dembele restored the lead, and Bradley Barcola extended it, before a Randal Kolo Muani penalty sealed a comfortable win.

Mbappe, who became PSG’s all-time leading scorer with 244 goals, joined Real Madrid on a five-year deal this summer after the expiration of his contract with the Parisian club.

Napoli’s Osimhen prefers PSG over Chelsea

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, who has drawn interest from several top European clubs, reportedly favors a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over Chelsea, according to Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg.

Despite Chelsea’s efforts to secure the 26-year-old Nigeria international, Osimhen is not particularly eager for a Premier League transfer.

Napoli is open to selling him this summer if their €130 million release clause is met.

Arsenal also showed interest earlier in the transfer window with a “loose approach,” though it’s unclear if they are still pursuing the deal.

Osimhen’s preference for PSG, however, faces complications.

The French club cannot advance with the transfer unless one of their current forwards, Randal Kolo Muani or Gonçalo Ramos, is sold.

Ramos has been linked to Atlético Madrid, while Kolo Muani has reportedly caught the attention of Borussia Dortmund.

  • PSG begins talks with Man Utd over transfer of Jadon Sancho

PSG begins talks with Man Utd over transfer of Jadon Sancho

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is currently negotiating with Manchester United over the potential transfer of Jadon Sancho, according to Sky Sports.

Sancho, who rejoined Manchester United for the preseason after a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, seems to have patched up his previous disagreements with United manager Erik ten Hag.

Despite earlier tensions, Ten Hag has hinted that Sancho might play a leading role in the attack, particularly with Rasmus Højlund sidelined due to injury.

At 24, Sancho is reportedly open to a move to PSG, and the French club is confident that negotiating personal terms will be straightforward.

Borussia Dortmund and Juventus are also showing interest in the winger, who is valued at £40 million by Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte appears to have diminished due to the high transfer fee demanded by PSG.

It remains uncertain whether a deal involving both Sancho and Ugarte can be finalized.

  • PSG rekindle transfer interest in Man Utd’s Bruno Fernandes

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has reportedly expressed interest in Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes as they seek to compensate for the departure of Kylian Mbappe.

This summer, PSG lost Mbappe, who fulfilled his long-time ambition of joining Real Madrid as a free agent.

According to L’Equipe, Les Parisiens are now aiming to bolster their attacking options by bringing Fernandes to Parc des Princes.

Fernandes, who joined Manchester United from Sporting in the winter of 2020, has been a pivotal player for the Red Devils, delivering impressive performances despite the team’s struggles in recent years.

There have been rumors of Fernandes contemplating a move away from Manchester United, with links to clubs like Bayern Munich and Al-Nassr this summer.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BO2fIMJXX_M

A TEAMtalk report earlier this month indicated that United had given the Portuguese midfielder the ‘green light’ to initiate discussions with Saudi clubs.

In 2021, then-PSG manager Thomas Tuchel highly praised Fernandes, despite the midfielder having only been with the Red Devils for a little over a year. Tuchel even revealed that he had urged the club to attempt signing Fernandes before his move to Old Trafford.

He said: “With my first sporting director in Paris, Antero Henrique, a Portuguese sporting director, and he knew [Fernandes] very well.

“We fought hard to have a connection to him and to bring him to our team. I got made aware of him more in detail, so we watched more and more games about him and followed him and tried to be in touch with him to make it happen.

“Obviously, he decided [to sign for Man Utd] and I was never personally in touch with him, but we tried and he went another way. [It is] bad for us that we have to play against him.”

At the moment, it seems highly unlikely that a move away from Erik ten Hag’s side is possible for the Manchester United captain. However, considering the squad overhaul being conducted by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, the Portugal international could be allowed to leave if the club feels like it.

Official! Man Utd’s Mary Earps joins PSG

England goalkeeper Mary Earps has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, the French club announced on Monday.

Earps has signed a contract with PSG that will run until the end of the 2025-26 season, following the expiration of her contract with Manchester United at the end of June. Despite previous talks to extend her stay at Old Trafford, no agreement was reached.

This marks Earps’ second venture outside of England, having played for Wolfsburg during the 2018-19 season. She joined Manchester United the following year, making 102 appearances for the club across all competitions.

The 31-year-old earned the WSL Golden Glove award for the 2022-2023 season, setting a new league record with 14 clean sheets.

Earps was instrumental in Manchester United’s FA Cup victory last season, securing the club’s first major trophy in history. She delivered a series of exceptional saves in the semifinal against Chelsea and kept a clean sheet in the final against Tottenham.

During her tenure at United, Earps also achieved international success, winning the Euros with England in 2022 and earning the Golden Glove at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Despite her impressive penalty save in the final against Spain, England fell short, losing 1-0.

Recognized as one of the world’s premier goalkeepers, Earps received The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper award in January, marking her second consecutive win.

Mbappe reveals what influenced his decision to leave PSG

French forward, Kylian Mbappe, has revealed that “things and people” contributed to his dissatisfaction during his last year at Paris St-Germain.

At 25 years old, Mbappe is set to embark on a new chapter with Real Madrid, signing a five-year contract once his tenure with Paris St-Germain concludes on June 30th.

The decision not to extend his Paris St-Germain contract for an additional year, made clear last August, sparked a standoff between Mbappe and the club.

This impasse led to Mbappe training separately from the first team as negotiations reached an impasse.

“At PSG I wasn’t unhappy, that would be biting the hand that feeds you and spitting in the face of all the people who defended me, but things and people made me unhappy,” said Mbappe on Tuesday.

“But there are things that you can’t show because I was a leader and you don’t follow someone who drags their sadness around.”

Mbappe said PSG boss Luis Enrique and adviser Luis Campos “saved me.”

“Without them, I would never have set foot on the field again,” he added on the eve of France’s friendly with Luxembourg in Metz.

“I’m more proud of that season when I know everything I had to go through to play.

“It was lower by my standards, but just playing, repeating matches and winning trophies was my greatest pride. But next year, I won’t be satisfied with a season like that.”

While Kylian Mbappe played a pivotal role in securing six Ligue 1 titles for PSG, he is now eagerly anticipating a new beginning with Real Madrid, the reigning champions of the UEFA Champions League.

“It’s a huge pleasure and a dream come true,” he added.

“It’s the club where I always dreamed of being. I’m going there with a lot of excitement and a lot of humility.”

Real Madrid officially unveils Kylian Mbappe

The signing of French forward Kylian Mbappé has been revealed by Real Madrid, the legendary football team in Spain.

After Real Madrid captured their 15th Champions League championship, the announcement was made.

Kylian Mbappé has signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid, the club said.

In 2022, Real Madrid started chasing Mbappé.

Just as Real Madrid was getting ready to welcome Mbappé, he was forced to extend his contract with PSG by intense pressure from Paris, France, and Qatar.

Upon concluding his tenure with the team, the athlete declared his intention to depart PSG at the conclusion of the 2023–24 campaign.

The signing of Mbappé gives the Spanish football giants a major boost as they aim to dominate both European and global sports.

Mbappé is anticipated to don the No. 9 shirt for the team.

“I can’t wait to be in my new club” – Kylian Mbappé eager to leave PSG already

Kylian Mbappé has expressed his eagerness to move on to his next club after spending seven years with Paris Saint-Germain.

The French forward has not disclosed his future destination, but it is widely anticipated that he will join Real Madrid on a free transfer once his PSG contract concludes this summer.

“It’s going to be an amazing experience and I can’t wait to be in my new club,” Mbappé told CNN Sport. “I will leave my country [for another league] for the first time.

“I want to win trophies… When you speak about football, [it’s about] winning trophies, being with new teammates. Now, I have my contract with PSG … Everybody knows that it’s soon finishing and we’re going to see what happens.”

Mbappé, recently honored as European Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards, nearly signed with Real Madrid two years ago.

Instead, he chose to extend his contract with PSG until June 2024, a decision he stands by and does not regret.

“It was more than just staying at PSG,” he said. “It was the World Cup in Qatar. It was many things around these things. It was a big decision, difficult decision … but I don’t regret anything.

“Of course, in a career, you have to take difficult decisions and it’s what I did, but I became the all-time top scorer with PSG. I just want to remember the best things … It was not an easy situation and I wish nobody to live that.”

Asked if he will be cheering on Madrid when the Spanish champions take on Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s Champions League final at Wembley Stadium, Mbappé smiled and said: “No. I’ll just watch the final like you. When you love football, you watch every game.

I watch every game when I can … in France, England, Spain, Germany, Italy, every league. So, of course, I’m going to watch the Champions League.”

Mbappé will soon link up with the France squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament in Germany.

He is eager to add a European Championship title to his already sparkling international career.

“I have a lot of things to give to football,” Mbappé said. “I’ve done many things, but I’m still young and I want to do more … I want to put my name in the history of football.

“I just watch what I have in the future, and I want to really improve my game, to be a better player every year and to be the player who I want to be.”

PSG owes Mbappe €80m – Reports

Kylian Mbappe’s departure from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for Real Madrid appears to be overshadowed by financial disputes, with reports suggesting that PSG still owes the superstar

Despite announcing his decision to leave the club once his contract expires this summer, Mbappe is reportedly yet to receive his salary for April and a bonus for February, totaling around €80 million.

Negotiations between PSG and Mbappe’s lawyers continue, with a loyalty bonus also under contention.

Mbappe had initially agreed to forgo the payment, expecting Real Madrid to cover the expense, but the Spanish club has shown no intention of doing so, leaving PSG hopeful that Mbappe will waive his bonus.

Having played his final game for PSG, Mbappe leaves behind an illustrious career, boasting 256 goals and 96 assists in 352 appearances for the club.

His remarkable goal involvements surpass those of PSG legends Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 21st century.

Mbappe’s imminent move to Real Madrid is expected to be finalized shortly, with an announcement anticipated after Madrid’s final game of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side, aiming for their 15th European Cup triumph, will face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.

  • PSG decides on Man City’s Bernardo Silva after long pursuit

PSG decides on Man City’s Bernardo Silva after long pursuit

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly ending their pursuit of Manchester City star Bernardo Silva, according to French media sources.

Le Parisien has reported that the Ligue 1 champions have decided to halt their efforts to bring the 29-year-old to the French capital this summer. Silva had been frequently linked with a move to PSG since Luis Campos became the club’s sporting director in 2022.

Campos, who shares Portuguese roots with Silva, had been keen on securing his transfer, but after recent unsuccessful attempts, PSG will now shift their focus elsewhere.

The report also suggested that PSG had initially planned to revisit the deal for Silva this summer, but those plans have now changed.

With Manchester City and manager Pep Guardiola determined to retain the experienced playmaker, Campos and PSG coach Luis Enrique have decided to prioritize other areas of the squad.

Instead of pursuing right-wingers, PSG will now focus on strengthening the left-wing position, with Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia emerging as a top target.

Despite the ongoing transfer speculation, Silva has expressed his long-term ambitions for the remainder of his playing career.

“I want to return to Benfica. If the club wants me at the time, obviously things will happen,” he told CNN. “I was incapable of playing for Porto or Sporting. It’s not going to happen.”

After enduring disappointment from the recent FA Cup final loss to Manchester United, which concluded the 2023-24 campaign, Bernardo Silva is set to take a well-deserved break before joining his Portuguese teammates for Euro 2024.

Silva signed a contract extension with Manchester City last summer, committing to the club until 2026. However, the contract reportedly includes a release clause of just £50 million ($62 million) if he decides to move elsewhere. Additionally, La Liga giants Barcelona have also shown interest in acquiring the player.

Mbappe says he will announce his next move in a few days

Kylian Mbappe announced that he would reveal his future plans in a “few days” after Paris Saint-Germain’s French Cup victory on Saturday.

Widely anticipated to join Real Madrid, Mbappé has already stated he will depart PSG when his contract concludes this summer.

Following PSG’s 2-1 triumph over Lyon in the final, reporters questioned Mbappé on why he has not yet officially disclosed his next club.

“Because I think the best thing to do is to finish saying goodbye,” the France captain said in the mixed zone of the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille.

“All I wanted was to finish well. There is a time for everything. I will announce my new club in due course. It will be only a few days away so there is no problem.”

Pressed by journalists if that meant the transfer would be official before the national team meets to prepare for the European Championship, Mbappé added: “I still don’t know, there are still some details. The most important thing was to win and to experience these final emotions.”

Mbappé spoke about what he felt playing his last game for PSG after seven seasons.
“Nostalgia, emotion; It was cool. I always understood where I was, this unique experience of playing for PSG. Playing for PSG, I would recommend it,” he said.

“I was lucky enough to experience it. What I have had, I wouldn’t experience anywhere else. Now I’m going to experience something else and I’m sure that will be magical too.”

  • “I didn’t hear any booing” – PSG coach after alleged fan jeers at Mbappe’s home farewell

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach Luis Enrique stated that he was unaware of the boos directed at Kylian Mbappé by the club’s fans prior to his final game at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappé, the all-time leading scorer for the club, recently announced his departure from the Ligue 1 champions after seven years.

Whistles and jeers could be heard as his name was announced in the lineups before Sunday’s match against Toulouse.

“I didn’t hear any booing,” Luis Enrique said. “I heard lots of support. All I heard was applause, chants and joy, which I think it was what Kylian deserved. The fans were superb, as always.”

As Mbappé ran onto the pitch to warm up before Sunday’s 3-1 defeat, PSG’s ultra supporters displayed a huge banner with a giant image of Mbappé and the message: “Child from the Parisian suburbs, you became a legend of PSG.”

Kylian Mbappé played his last home game for PSG against Toulouse on Sunday. Getty
“I thought it [the tribute] was fantastic and very heartfelt,” Luis Enrique said. “It’s beautiful to recognise the work of a player of his level. He is without a doubt a legend of the club despite his youth. We still have some game left. I wish him the best of luck in his sporting career.”

Mbappé, widely anticipated to join Real Madrid as a free agent this summer, played the full 90 minutes on Sunday and marked his performance with his 27th league goal of the season.

When questioned about his decision not to substitute Mbappé to allow for a standing ovation, Enrique explained, “I chose not to take him off because every time I’ve done so in the past, there’s been considerable attention from the press. So, I opted to keep him on for the entire 90 minutes to avoid any frustration.”

In contrast, Luis Enrique opted not to field Keylor Navas on Sunday, despite the veteran goalkeeper sharing a farewell message to PSG fans on Instagram ahead of what was expected to be his final game at the Parc des Princes.

Navas, 37, whose contract with PSG expires in June, wrote: “Every second spent at the Parc des Princes was wonderful…It was an honour to defend this badge in this incredible stadium. I still have goals to achieve, but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to say goodbye to what was my home.”

Asked why he chose to leave Navas on the bench and start Arnau Tenas in goal after resting PSG’s No.1 Gianluigi Donnarumma, Luis Enrique said: “Regarding Keylor, I haven’t had any news that it was his last game at the Parcs des Princes. So I make decisions based on what was best for the team.”

Navas got an ovation from the PSG crowd during the league title celebrations after the game.

  • It’s my last year at PSG – Mbappe confirms exit rumours

It’s my last year at PSG – Mbappe confirms exit rumours

French international Kylian Mbappe has confirmed he will leave Paris St-Germain at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old was reported to have agreed to join Real Madrid in the summer after refusing to extend his stay with the French champions.

On Friday, May 10, 2024, the forward officially announced his departure via a video posted on his official social media account.

Mbappe’s aspiration to clinch the UEFA Champions League with Paris St-Germain before departing remained unfulfilled despite numerous attempts.

The most recent disappointment occurred earlier in the week when Borussia Dortmund’s resilience thwarted Enrique’s side’s chances of reaching the final.

While reports linking him to Real Madrid have gained momentum, there have also been strong indications of interest from teams in the Saudi Pro League.

With 306 appearances, Mbappe has netted 255 goals and provided 108 assists.

  • Luis Enrique to stay as PSG boss despite UCL elimination – Sources

Sources have informed ESPN that Luis Enrique will continue as PSG manager next season, despite the club’s Champions League semifinal defeat against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

In the past, PSG has dismissed managers following Champions League disappointments.

However, sources indicate that the club is satisfied with Luis Enrique’s performance and believes he can lead the team to greater success.

Luis Enrique, who celebrated his 54th birthday on Wednesday, signed a two-year contract upon joining PSG last summer. Discussions regarding a possible contract extension could commence soon.

The Spanish coach has garnered significant support from fans throughout the season, including the club’s loyal supporters who chant his name at every match.

The challenge of securing PSG’s first Champions League title will become more daunting next season if Kylian Mbappé follows through with his intention to depart the club and join Real Madrid after his contract expires this summer.

Nevertheless, Luis Enrique has demonstrated a willingness to manage star-player departures at PSG, exemplified by his decision to allow Neymar and Marco Veratti to leave last summer.

Instead, he has prioritized fostering team spirit and a cohesive identity within the squad.

Despite their Champions League campaign ending, PSG still have the opportunity to add to their trophy collection this season by competing in the French Cup final against Lyon on May 25.

Under Luis Enrique’s leadership, PSG has already secured the Ligue 1 title this season, as well as the French Super Cup.

  • Dortmund foil Mbappe’s Champions League trophy dream with PSG

Dortmund foil Mbappe’s Champions League trophy dream with PSG

Kylian Mbappe would have envisioned lifting the Champions League trophy for Paris St-Germain in his final European appearance for the club. However, the reality was starkly different.

In a game that was already out of reach for PSG, Mbappe’s last moments in the competition were marked by a slip as he chased a ball he was unlikely to reach. This moment came in the final seconds of injury time, sealing Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 aggregate victory.

Dortmund secured their win with a solid defensive performance, characterized by energetic pressing and aided by a stroke of luck.

When Qatar Sports Investment took over PSG in 2011, their primary objective became winning the Champions League, leading to significant spending.

The pursuit intensified in 2017 with the world-record signing of Neymar from Barcelona, followed by Mbappe’s arrival a year later after winning the World Cup with France.

In 2021, signing Lionel Messi seemed to bring the dream closer. However, despite the star-studded lineup, PSG failed to secure the Champions League.

Since 2017, PSG has dominated domestically, winning six out of seven Ligue 1 titles and multiple domestic cups. However, European success has eluded them, reaching the final once and the semifinals twice.

Their recent defeat to Dortmund highlights their Champions League struggles, with the team failing to convert numerous chances. This loss underscores PSG’s inability to perform at their best in crucial Champions League moments.

Despite these setbacks, there are positives. PSG has shown resilience, notably in their comeback against Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

Manager Luis Enrique is building for the future, evident in PSG’s youthful lineup in the semi-finals. While their Champions League dreams remain unfulfilled, PSG’s journey showcases their ambition and potential for future success.

  • Sancho given the opportunity to decide playtime in Dortmund-PSG clash – Coach confirms

Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic admitted Monday he did not know if Jadon Sancho (24) might remain with the club beyond the end of this season but called on the England winger to once again play a starring role against Paris Saint-Germain.
Sancho was outstanding as Dortmund beat PSG 1-0 at home in last week’s Champions League semi-final first leg, setting them up nicely for Tuesday’s return match in the French capital.

“We have talked about the short-term future. This is tomorrow, with a very important game, maybe also the biggest game in his career so far,” Terzic told reporters at the Parc des Princes on the eve of the match when asked if discussions had been had with Sancho.

Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic acknowledged uncertainty regarding Jadon Sancho’s future at the club beyond this season but emphasised the importance of the England winger’s performance in the upcoming Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

Sancho played a pivotal role in Dortmund’s 1-0 victory in the first leg, and Terzic urged him to replicate his stellar performance in the crucial match in Paris.

“We are really happy with him. From all sides, we are happy to have him in our team. I think you can feel that he is happy to be with us,” Terzic added.

“We don’t know how long the story will continue. This is part of the deal: he is not our player as of July 1st, but until then, we are going to make this time as special as possible.

“We are really feeling that he is in a good way. I think that big games are decided by big players and tomorrow he will have the opportunity to decide it.”

After returning to Dortmund on loan from Manchester United in January until the season’s end, the 24-year-old’s future remains uncertain. Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastien Kehl, expressed their determination to retain him at the club, where he previously excelled for four years before his transfer to United in 2021.

“What we did last week might not be enough this week so we still need to improve,” warned Terzic, whose side hold the advantage thanks to Niclas Fullkrug’s strike in the first leg.

“What we didn’t like last week was that we had four players defending against Kylian Mbappe. We also know they will do better tomorrow, so we need to find the balance that we didn’t really have last week.

“If we have come this far we want to do better still and go all the way to win the title.”

    ‘Big dream’
Terzic was also asked if PSG’s desire to win the Champions League in Mbappe’s last season with the club might prove too powerful for the visitors in Tuesday’s second leg, but dismissed such suggestions.

“That is their mission, but we also have a big dream and are eager to make it come true,” said the 41-year-old.

We can reach Champions League Finals – Mbappé expresses PSG’s confidence

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Kylian Mbappé has said his side is still confident they can overturn a 1-0 deficit against Borussia Dortmund in Tuesday’s Champions League semifinal second leg.

Niclas Füllkrug’s goal gave Dortmund the advantage in the first leg last week, but Mbappé believes PSG has what it takes to come back and reach the final at Wembley on June 1 as they chase a first Champions League title.

“We’re confident that we’ll come back from that score and reach the final,” Mbappé said at a children’s event with his “Inspired by KM” organisation.

“There’s a lot of pressure, which is normal because there’s a place in the Champions League final at stake, which is very important. Especially when you consider the club’s record in the competition.

“We’re aware of the pressure, but the group is extremely calm. We’re confident that we’ll come back from that score and reach the final.

“I’ve often had the same warning from the children. I’ve heard a lot of ‘You’ve got to win!’ And they’re right, we have to win.

“In any case, a day like this is good for the development of the man I am. And I’m sure I’ll arrive at the match in a good mood, ready to defend my team’s colours and help us qualify for the final.”

Coach Luis Enrique shares Mbappé’s confidence, but also called on the 25-year-old to work hard at both ends of the pitch.

“As we are a team, we ask the attackers to help make sure few balls reach the defence,” Luis Enrique said.

“We are all a team and everyone plays a part. Even world-class stars have to help defend. That is the only sentence I know in French, ‘on va gagner,’ we are going to win.

“It is a sentence I like, and I always think my team will win, so that is what I say.”

Rashford refuses to leave Man Utd amid reports sale attempts and PSG interest

Reports suggest that Marcus Rashford is adamant about blocking any attempts by Manchester United to sell him, despite a disappointing season and interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

With talks of a potential squad overhaul at United, Rashford’s name has surfaced as a possible option for sale.

PSG stands out as a realistic contender to meet Rashford’s valuation and accommodate his personal terms, especially with the potential departure of Kylian Mbappe looming.

Despite Rashford’s struggles on the field, United remains committed to his potential and success, evident in their significant investment through a new contract until at least 2028.

However, there’s acknowledgment among decision-makers that Rashford’s performance must improve, given his limited goal tally this season.

While Rashford has expressed no desire to leave Manchester and is content living there, his high weekly wage presents a hurdle for any potential exit.

Fan frustration has grown towards him, highlighted by boos during recent matches.

Additionally, his relationship with manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly strained, stemming from off-pitch incidents and alleged disregard for warnings.

Rashford’s form slump may impact his chances of making England’s Euro 2024 squad.

Nevertheless, his determination to stay at United amid challenges demonstrates his commitment.

With upcoming matches, including an FA Cup final, Rashford has opportunities to showcase his abilities and end the season positively.

PSG bus reportedly left Mbappe behind after loss to Dortmund

Kylian Mbappe was inadvertently left behind by the Paris Saint-Germain team bus after their Champions League loss to Borussia Dortmund in Germany, this is according to reports.

The first leg of the semifinal saw PSG struggle against Dortmund, with Niclas Fullkrug’s goal securing a crucial win for the German side.

Despite PSG’s efforts in the second half, they couldn’t breach Dortmund’s defense, leaving Mbappe and his teammates frustrated on the pitch.

Post-match, Mbappe found himself stranded at Signal Iduna Park as the rest of the team departed for the airport.

According to Le Parisien, Mbappe was delayed due to a random drug test, but eventually rejoined his teammates for the return journey to Paris.

Although Mbappe had several chances against Dortmund, he was thwarted by the post, adding to his disappointment.

However, his manager remains optimistic about their chances in the decisive leg to be played in Paris next week.

“In the last two rounds, they had the home game as their second game, whereas it was the other way round for us,” he said. “Now it’s a different and new scenario, we’ll have the crowd on our side in the second leg. I would have liked to create the chances we have created, but you have to be effective to score. We’ll see what version we show in Paris.”

As tensions rise and pressure mounts, PSG faces a crucial test next Tuesday against a resurgent Dortmund team, who eliminated Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals. With a full week to prepare his squad, Enrique can focus solely on the upcoming clash as there are no domestic commitments over the weekend.

“I’ll smash him” – Rudiger warns Mbappe ahead of possible meet in Champions League final

Antonio Rudiger has made a bold declaration, stating his intent to confront Kylian Mbappe aggressively if Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain clash in the Champions League final.

The prospect of this epic encounter looms large, with Wembley potentially hosting the showdown on June 1.

For this scenario to materialize, Real Madrid must first navigate past Bayern Munich in the semi-finals, while Paris Saint-Germain must overcome Borussia Dortmund on the opposite side of the bracket.

What adds an extra layer of intrigue to this anticipated matchup is the possibility of Mbappe facing off against his rumored future club, as speculation swirls that the French striker is set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer once his contract with PSG expires on June 30.

But Rudiger is in no mood to show mercy to his potential team-mate if their paths cross and told Le Media Carre: “If we face him in the final, we’ll beat him. And if he passes [i.e. dribbles] me, I’ll smash him.”

Despite his tough stance on the field, the German defender welcomed the idea of the 2018 World Cup winner joining the Spanish giants. He noted that Real Madrid has a renowned history of attracting top talent.

“The best players in history have always come to Real Madrid. He’s one of the best players in the world, so it would be a good match,” he said.
When questioned about the reports of Mbappe’s imminent arrival, he added with a smirk: “Who says that he’s (Mbappe) coming, it’s not official.”

Rudiger will be in action against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening in the first leg of Real’s semi-final tie at Allianz Arena, whereas Mbappe will take the pitch a day later against Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

The focus will shift to the possibility of a high-stakes encounter between the two players in the Champions League final on June 1 if both teams are able to overcome their German opponents at the last four stage of the competition.

Mbappe leaves with title as PSG clinch third successive Ligue 1 trophy

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) clinched their third consecutive Ligue 1 title on Sunday after Monaco suffered a 3-2 loss to Lyon.

PSG had a comfortable 12-point lead over Monaco before the 31st matchday, following their 3-3 draw with Le Havre on Saturday.

Although Monaco took an early lead against Lyon, the home team rallied back to secure a 2-1 advantage within the first 26 minutes.

Despite Monaco equalizing in the second half with Ben Yedder’s second goal, Lyon sealed the victory with Malick Fofana’s 84th-minute strike.

With three games remaining, Monaco trails PSG by 12 points, making it impossible for them to catch up, and PSG secures their 12th league title in history.

PSG has been dominant throughout the season, losing only one of their 31 league matches, scoring 76 goals and conceding just 29. Kylian Mbappe leads the race for the top scorer award with 26 goals, a significant 18 goals ahead of his closest competitor.

PSG’s focus now shifts to the Champions League semi-final against Borussia Dortmund, with the first leg scheduled for Wednesday and the return leg on May 7.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian (PSG) Mbappe showcased his brilliance by outmaneuvering Ghanaian defender Nathaniel Adjei during PSG’s dominant victory over Lorient on April 24, 2024.

Mbappe’s dazzling skill left Adjei trailing behind as he executed a mesmerizing nutmeg before delivering a pinpoint assist to Dembele, who converted from close range.

In addition to his impressive assist, Mbappe netted twice in the match, contributing to PSG’s 4-1 triumph at Stade du Moustir.

PSG edge close to winning Ligue 1 title as they prepare to face Lorient

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is poised to secure their 12th Ligue 1 title with a victory against relegation-threatened Lorient on Wednesday, coupled with AS Monaco dropping points against Lille.

The potential title triumph coincides with speculation surrounding Kylian Mbappé’s imminent departure, as reports suggest he plans to join Real Madrid once his PSG contract expires.

Despite a comfortable 11-point lead with five matches remaining, PSG’s ambitions extend beyond domestic success. They are set to face Lyon in the French Cup final and have progressed to the Champions League semifinals against Borussia Dortmund.

Manager Luis Enrique has acknowledged the possibility of a quadruple-winning season, including the French Super Cup triumph in January, as he and his squad prepare for the challenges ahead.

“The quadruple? Of course we talk about it. It’s a motivation,” Luis Enrique told a news conference. “It is a way of writing the club’s history and the city’s history. But the most important thing is not what we win but how we win, how we play.

“We have eight games left, hopefully nine and we will put the same commitment in all of them.

“It’s motivating us. For the moment, we have one title [the French Super Cup]. We need to win the league and continue to fight in Ligue 1 to respect the other clubs.

After, we will have the French Cup final against Lyon [on May 25], a special game. It is a long and sinuous road. We will have to be very focused at this end of the season.”

  • Luis Enrique optimistic PSG can overturn deficit against Barcelona

Paris St-Germain manager Luis Enrique is confident that his team can bounce back from their first-leg defeat against Barcelona and secure a spot in the Champions League semi-finals.

Despite losing 3-2 to Barcelona in Paris last Wednesday, Enrique believes PSG are well-positioned to turn the tie around. PSG last reached the semi-finals three years ago.

“PSG have never come back to win after losing a first leg, but [Tuesday] is the day,” said Luis Enrique.

“We have a very united group of players, in which there are no egos.”

Enrique secured the Treble during the 2014-15 season, one of his three seasons as Barcelona manager.

During his tenure, Barcelona famously staged a remarkable comeback against PSG in the last 16 of the Champions League in 2017, overturning a 4-0 first-leg defeat with a stunning 6-1 victory.

Barcelona, who have won the Champions League five times, are eager to reach the semi-finals for the first time in five years.

“We’re not a team that will sit on our lead; we want to take the ball off PSG and win the game,” said manager Xavi.

“It’s the Champions League; it’s Paris, and a game in which no one will be holding back.”

Barcelona will be without Andreas Christensen and Sergio Roberto who are both suspended.

“I felt bad” – Xavi on Dembele’s exit from Barcelona to PSG

Xavi expressed his dissatisfaction with Ousmane Dembele‘s departure from Barcelona last summer, stating that it left a sour taste in his mouth.

Barcelona have the opportunity to advance to the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since the 2018/19 season, holding a 3-2 lead over Paris Saint-Germain from the first leg.

As they prepare to host the Ligue 1 giants at Montjuic Stadium on Tuesday, manager Xavi openly admitted his disapproval of Dembele’s exit from the club last summer.

The French international departed for his homeland ahead of the 2023–24 season after spending six years at Barcelona, following PSG triggering his €50.4 million (£43–55 million) release clause.

Despite Dembele’s goal in the first leg, his team suffered a defeat against the Catalan giants.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the second leg, Xavi opened up on the winger’s departure as he said, “I felt bad about Ousmane because he was in an extraordinary moment here. I hold no grudges, and tomorrow I’ll greet him with all respect. I have a lot of affection for him.”

When further asked about the home fans jeering their former player, the manager added, “I don’t hold a grudge against him. Tomorrow I’ll greet him, as I did in Paris. With respect, I appreciate him. Let people show what they feel.”

Following their Champions League clash with PSG on Tuesday, the reigning Spanish champions will shift their focus to a crucial La Liga fixture against arch-rivals Real Madrid on Sunday.

Barca beat PSG as Raphinha outshined Mpabbe

The first legs of the Champions League quarter-finals produced thrilling results, none more so than Barcelona’s visit to Paris St-Germain, where the five-time winners staged a remarkable comeback to secure a 3-2 victory ahead of the second leg next Tuesday.

Former Leeds winger Raphinha was the standout performer in Paris, overshadowing Kylian Mbappe, who failed to make a significant impact.

Barcelona also fielded some record-breaking teenagers who displayed remarkable composure in the face of a hostile Parisian crowd when they were trailing.

Raphinha, in particular, delivered a “first-class” performance, showcasing his talent with two stunning goals. He had never scored in the Champions League before Wednesday’s match in Paris, but he made it seem effortless with the quality of his finishes.

Barcelona boss Xavi told TNT Sports: “Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski made the difference and Pedri helped us a lot. I’m very happy and very proud of the team.”

The 27-year-old was a danger throughout and had the most shots (six), shots on target (four) and touches in the opposition box (six) for Barcelona.

‘I’m ready for you Barca! and I ain’t even hiding -Mbappe warns ahead Champions League clash

Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain has issued a warning to Barcelona ahead of their upcoming Champions League match.

Mbappe, who has previously proven to be a formidable opponent for Barcelona, notably scoring a hat-trick against them in a previous Champions League fixture, has once again put the Catalan side on notice.

His pivotal role in PSG’s 4-1 victory over Barcelona in the 2021 first leg effectively jeopardised Barcelona’s Champions League hopes. As another showdown approaches, Mbappe’s warning underscores his ability to impact the outcome of the match.

Talking to Telefoot, Mbappe said [via Marca]: “I am ready and, as always, I am not going to hide. Seeing the dynamic we have, I’m sure we’re going to give it our all, then the result… It’s in God’s hands.”

He also talked about the season being at a crucial point: “Like every year, we enter the crucial period of the season. At the end of April, we will already have elements to know what kind of season we will be able to have.”

The reason for the well-publicized split in recent months between Mbappe and PSG boss Luis Enrique is Mbappe’s unwillingness to pledge his future to the Parisian team.

Mbappe has consequently seen himself benched or substituted numerous times over this time. Enrique even made light of the circumstance by speculating that Mbappe, who is currently playing for Barcelona, would encounter a similar fate.

When PSG plays Real Madrid on Wednesday, April 10 at the Parc des Princes, Mbappe will be anxious to show off his skills against Barcelona because there have been rumours of him signing with Real Madrid as a free agent.

On Tuesday, April 16, there will be a vital away game versus Barcelona.

Better to join Liverpool over Madrid; you’d make good pair with Salah – Robert Pires to Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe is anticipated to turn down Real Madrid’s offer and opt for Liverpool as his next destination after departing Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite the widespread expectation of a free transfer to the Spanish giants this summer, former France and Arsenal player Robert Pires suggests that Mbappe should take a different path and consider a move to England.

Pires envisions Mbappe forming a formidable partnership with Mohamed Salah at Anfield, favouring this prospect over joining forces with players like Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Pires said to Le Media Carre: “I’m sorry, Kylian, but you weren’t the first player to say no to Real Madrid. I don’t know what decision he will make in the end, but I turned Madrid down because I had two other options.

I’m sure that if I hadn’t had the opportunity to going to Arsenal or Juventus, I would have gone to Real Madrid. That’s for sure.

“I would like to see him at Liverpool. It’s a great family club, there’s a good structure, no pressure and, the fans are level-headed… And I think a Salah-Mbappe partnership could be really explosive.

I think he is capable of rejecting Real Madrid.Mbappe has denied claims he has already agreed to join Madrid from PSG this summer, while coach Luis Enrique has not given up hope of convincing him to stay at the French giants for at least one more season.

“Same music every single week, so boring” – PSG’s coach fumes over Mbappé substitution questions

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Luis Enrique expressed frustration with journalists who repeatedly inquire about decisions regarding Kylian Mbappé’s playing time, labelling such questioning as “boring.”

Despite his team’s commendable 2-0 victory over Marseille in Le Classique on Sunday, even after playing with 10 men for over 50 minutes, Enrique remained irked when asked about substituting Mbappé for Gonçalo Ramos in the 65th minute.

“It’s the same music, every single week. It’s so boring,” he said on the Amazon Prime Video broadcast after the result.

“I am the manager. I make decisions every day, every week. I am going to the same until my last day in Paris.

“I always try to find the best solution for my team. Maybe I am wrong, but I think I am right.”

Since news broke of Kylian Mbappé’s intention to depart PSG and negotiations with Real Madrid commenced, manager Luis Enrique has frequently omitted him from the starting lineup or substituted him off during matches.

Despite this, Mbappé has remained pivotal in PSG’s Champions League endeavors, with sources revealing that he and Enrique held discussions in early March to address concerns over reduced playing time.

As PSG faces Barcelona in the quarterfinals, Enrique expressed optimism that Mbappé might reconsider his decision to leave, especially if the team achieves success in multiple competitions.

After their progression, Mbappe refuted any speculation regarding tensions with manager Luis Enrique.

Speaking to Canal+ after the match, the 25-year-old said, “My response on the ground? No, I don’t have a particular message. I still want to play in the Champions League.

Additionally, he mentioned considering the team’s future, as he has previously addressed in news conferences following speculation about Mbappé’s departure.

Despite this explanation, sources indicate that Mbappé perceives the substitutions as a consequence of his decision to depart the club at the end of the season.
