Sonnie Badu urges Ghanaians to project their country in a positive way like Nigerians

Ghanaian gospel singer based in the UK Sonnie Badu, in an appeal to Ghanaians, has requested that his fellow countrymen promote Ghana in a positive manner, similar to the neighboring country of Nigeria.

This plea comes in response to the reactions sparked by remarks made by Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the founder of Perez Chapel International, regarding Nogokpo in the Volta region.

Archbishop Agyinasare recently referred to Nogokpo as the “demonic” headquarters of the Volta Region while delivering a sermon at his church.

The Bishop later clarified that his comments were not intended to disrespect any specific town or its residents. He explained that his remarks were meant to illustrate the principle of divine protection to his congregants.

    But his explanations were rejected.

However, speaking on Prime Morning, Joy Prime’s morning show, Sonnie Badu indicated that the issue has been dragged too far, especially with the reaction from leaders of the community.

He feels Archbishop Agyinasare has greatly contributed to promoting Ghana internationally; therefore, he does not deserve to be treated badly by the populace.

According to the gospel singer, these characteristics project negativity and may damage the nation’s reputation.

“I’m more concerned about preserving the integrity of Ghana. I’m a proud Ghanaian, and I want the world to hear about Ghana in a positive way and not the everyday people wake up and insult… Unlike Bishop Agyinasare, he’s done so much for Ghana… I don’t think he will make that statement ever again, but I think it’s been dragged so far. So, I just pray and still plead that let’s project Ghana in a positive way like what Nigerians are doing,” he pleaded on Friday.

He said Bishop Agyinasare meant well with his comments and therefore pleads with the community elders to let sleeping dogs lie in order to promote Ghana positively.

  • Sonnie Badu writes a letter to the leaders of Nogokpo

Sonnie Badu writes a letter to the leaders of Nogokpo

Ghanaian gospel artiste, Dr Sonnie Badu, has penned a heartfelt letter to the elders of Nogokpo, expressing his thoughts on the recent controversy surrounding Archbishop Charles Agyinasare’s remarks about the community.

In his letter, Badu seeks to foster peace, love, and understanding between all parties involved.

Addressing the elders of Nogokpo, Badu begins his letter with a greeting of peace, acknowledging their willingness to receive his message.

He clarifies that he is not a member of Perez Dome and has not been prompted by Bishop Agyinasare himself to write this letter.

“I am not a member of Perez Dome, and I haven’t spoken to Bishop in many years, and he has not employed me to do this. However, I think this is going a bit too far. Badu writes.

He also shared that Bishop Agyinasare explained the context of his sermon in detail, demonstrating wisdom and highlighting his connection to the Volta region through his wife and children, who bear Ewe names.

This, in his view, underscores the bishop’s love and respect for the Volta region.

“Bishop came back and explained in detail (with wisdom) how the event transpired, and he went on to explain that his wife is from Volta and his kids bear Ewe names. This shows how much he loves and values the Volta region,” he stated.

Expressing his personal perspective, Badu acknowledges that the description provided by the bishop in his sermon might not have been surprising to those familiar with Nogokpo.

He recalls how he first heard about the town through a media personality who mentioned certain activities taking place there, which are commonly associated with the reverence for the Volta gods.

“The first time I ever heard of your town was when a media personality took to social media to let us know she took some people there for certain doings. However, that wasn’t a surprise as we know not to joke with Volta gods,” Badu added.

Furthermore, Badu emphasizes that every town has its own share of spiritual beliefs and practices, including witchcraft.

He points out that when the spiritual realm becomes agitated, it can cause disturbances, such as the bursting of tires, which he interprets as a more spiritual occurrence rather than a mere physical incident.

“Sirs, again, what Bishop was explaining is not strange because every town has witchcraft, and sometimes when the principalities are agitated, they can cause mischief… In this case, like the bursting of the tires, it was more spiritual than physical, which we understood,” he convinced.

However, Sonnie Badu was keen to shift the focus towards the positive aspects of Nogokpo as he mentioned the charitable work Bishop Agyinasare has done in the Volta region, which has not received much publicity.

In light of this, he proposed that now is an opportune moment to shed light on the town and highlight the good things happening there.

He expresses his desire to visit Nogokpo one day and even suggests collaborating with the bishop to build a school for the people of Nogokpo as a gesture of love and goodwill.

“And, Dear Bishop, I think I have an idea. Let’s build a school for the people of Nogokpo. To add to what they already have, we know how the story will be told for years to come. The people were upset, and so he built a school to show love. Love you very much, Bishop. Agin Asare,” he disclosed.

Concluding his letter, Badu reiterates his love and admiration for Bishop Agyinasare, describing him as

  • Sonnie Badu turning anointing oil into blood was fake – Kumchacha

Sonnie Badu turning anointing oil into blood was fake – Kumchacha

The founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Prophet Nicholas Osei popularly known as Kumchacha has stated that the purported miracle performed by musician turned pastor Sonnie Badu of turning anointing oil into blood is fake.

According to Kumchacha, he did not believe in such miracles and that Sonnie Badu had likely used dye to deceive his congregants into thinking the oil had turned into blood.

“Let me state it categorically that, I don’t have a problem with Sonnie Badu, I told you last week that I used to stay with him in London, and we have worked together before. So, I know him and he also knows me, he texts me I also text him, but it is like when the pork issue came, people started reading meanings into it, that we were having beef but we don’t.

“But for this particular one, you said he was praying for people and he was pouring oil in their palms which turned into blood, it is not dye? Dye and blood are almost the same thing, so you won’t see any difference. So, for me, I don’t believe that it was the blood of Jesus that they saw in their palms but maybe it was a dye,” he said.

Kumchacha who was on Onua TV on April 19, 2023, added that even though he believes in the power of God, this particular miracle is fake.

“The truth is that I believe in the miracles of God but most pastors do these fake miracles, the dye and blood are also almost the same. There is a miracle orchestrated by God but this particular one about Sonnie Badu is fake. I am telling you that is fake. It is an arrangement that they did,” he said.

It was recently reported that Sonnie Badu had turned anointing oil into blood in the hands of his congregants during a church service.

  • I have no issues with Christians eating pork – Siisi Baidoo

I have no issues with Christians eating pork – Siisi Baidoo

Gospel musician and songwriter, Siisi Baidoo says there is nothing wrong with Christians eating pork.

His comments come in response to US-based gospel singer and preacher, Sonnie Badu’s argument concerning the consumption of pork.

Recently, the man of God, while preaching at his church, stated that pork is unclean and eating it makes one vulnerable to all forms of demonic attacks.

This sparked a lot of conversation across all social media platforms, including traditional media.

Worshipper Siisi Baidoo, on the other hand, has a distinct take on the idea.

According to him, some people turn their personal revelations into doctrines, thereby imposing them on others.

In view of this, the minister believes Sonnie Badu dislikes pork as a result of some personal revelations he might have had about the meat.

He made these comments during an interview on Prime Morning on Easter Monday.

“There’s probably an experience that he had or some insights he’s gotten from God with regard to that. I was sharing something with somebody from one of our events, and I was telling the person that a lot of people turn their personal revelations into doctrines, and that’s one of the big problems in the church,” he said.

As a strong believer, the worshipper asserted that not everyone’s revelation is understandable and beneficial to others.

However, Siisi Baidoo thinks that such revelations should be kept private rather than imposed on individuals.

“It may not work for them because they don’t have that kind of understanding you have concerning that thing.”

The ‘Otim Ho Daa’ songwriter is of the notion that Christ has given new life to everyone. Therefore, what people, particularly believers, choose to do or consume should not be a concern.

Most churches nowadays, he said, are suffering with idolatry as a result of the imposition of specific revelations on members since they gradually become beliefs.

Multiple award-winning gospel singer, songwriter, philanthropist, producer, TV presenter, and author Sonnie Badu has performed a shocking miracle as he has turned anointing oil into blood during church service.

The miracle happened after the Ghanaian Gospel minister poured anointing oil into the hands of one of his church members. In a video shared on social media, the red liquid, said to be blood, was captured in a woman’s hand whilst Sonnie Badu was praying.

According to the founder of the RockHill Church based Atlanta, Georgia, the miracle which happened last night is an evidence the blood of Jesus still carries power.

“I have been asking God to show up mightily in our services and last nights God truly did. The anointing oil turned into BLOOD .. Of course, it’s Holy Week and I have been teaching on the blood,” he said.

Sharing the video on his social media pages, he added that “this was not a coincidence it’s was an affirmation that his blood still carries power .. Today, I command the blood to heal you and all your family members – of any generational sicknesses in the name of Jesus“.

Tattoo vs Pork : Kumchacha hits back at “hypocritical” Sonnie Badu

Prophet Kumchacha, founder of Heaven’s Gate Ministries has slammed UK-based preacher Sonnie Badu over his comment about people who eat pork.

Recall that Sonnie Badu strongly argued that pork is unclean hence people who eat it might end up inviting evil spirits.

His comment generated a debate on social media with people sharing their stances on his comments.

Though it has been weeks since Sonnie Badu made that remark, Prophet Kumchacha has revisited the topic by questioning Sonnie Badu on why he has a tattoo on his body as a preacher.

According to him, the Bible in Leviticus banned pork and tattoos and wondered why the Gospel musician and preacher had tattoos all over his body if he believes pork is not good for people to eat.

  • Why was Atsu retired when Messi won the World Cup at 35 – Sonnie Badu to GFA

Sonnie Badu, a preacher and musician, has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to alter its outlook and behavior.

He finds it distressing that the football organization has essentially coerced several players into early retirement throughout the years.

His opinions were expressed in an open letter to the GFA following Christian Atsu, a player for the Black Stars,’ funeral and burial.

In contrast to Lionel Messi, the PSG star and Argentina captain, who won the World Cup in Qatar at the age of 35, Atsu, sometimes referred to as the Messi of Ghana, took a step back at the age of 31.

“Dear GFA @chris_atsu has been finally laid to rest. However, let me say this .. Let this be a reform of mindset and a change of attitude…. I know our @ghana_fa_official chairman will do things differently

“I heard in recent interviews people saying that he was the Messi of Ghana… Well you guys retired him quick – whiles Messi is still playing the World Cup… Messi is 35 and Astu was 31 …

“Let us learn how to make players feel important while they are alive. We should not wait for something to happen to them before we take over their funeral expenses and all of that,” his letter read in part.

The March 17, 2023 final funeral rites of Christian Atsu attracted people from all walks of life as the forecourt of the State House buzzed with activity.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his vice were in attendance along with a high-powered government delegation. Also in attendance was the former president John Dramani Mahama.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) was led by its president Kurt Okraku who also led members of the association and a group of former Black Stars players.

We will eat Sonnie Badu should he turn into a pig – Chief Binney

A former deputy National Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Binney, has reacted to preacher Sonnie Badu’s claims that pork attracts demonic spirits.

The Rockhill Church pastor’s claims have since stirred massive reactions, which includes a large section of social media, refuting the assertion.

Earlier, while addressing his congregants, Sonnie Badu said,

“When the devil wants to get through to you, they must first test your spiritual appetite. The number one way through which witches invade bodies is food. Also, the bible declares that some animals are unclean. What do you think an unclean animal is? In order words, when that unclean animal is found in you spiritually, it gives the witch quick access to jump in.

“Anything that has pork, pork is unclean! Even when you go to the Chinese restaurant and they ask for your order and you say pork, they keep asking you just to be sure, because they are aware of the kind of animal you are requesting to have,” he stressed.

But reacting on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrooko’ morning show, host Kwame Sefa Kayi read out some interesting messages from listeners, including NDC’s Chief Binney.

“If Sonnie Badu himself turn into kwii (pig), we will eat him,” a message from Chief Biney read by the host said.

However, Rev Sonnie Badu has asked critics of his pork claims to seek the right answers from the witches and wizards themselves if they think he is not telling the truth.

“You can ask all witches and wizards”, he challenged.

According to the journalist, he would be the warehouse of demons if it were to be true that eating pork causes a person to be possessed.

“On the flipside it has been reported that Sonnie Badu says those who eat pork will have demons attacking them at midnight. I don’t know if he actually said it. Sonnie Badu, wherever you are it is being reported that you claim demons will possess those of us who eat pork? If that’s the case I must be full of it,” he stated on the Wednesday, February 23, 2023, amidst laughter.

Going into the game, Ghana needed a win or draw to boost their chances of moving to the next round but got eliminated from the tournament following their 2-0 defeat against Uruguay in their last gr oup game.

Heartbroken Ghanaian football lovers have been the Ghanaian coacch, Otto Addo and Ghana Football Association over poor selection of players. Accordingly, Baba Rahman has been trending as many argue that he shouldn’t have been selected for the match.

Adding his voice to the criticisms, the Ghanaian Gospel minister said “if this guy can still play full 100 mins then I can play for GHANA… Look at the balls he could not even connect?“.

In another post, he called for the Black Stars team to be dissolved. “The truth of the matter is this; the senior national team will have to be scrapped. I don’t think these boys will come to Africa to play Afcon qualifiers“.

He concluded that “they should ask Afriyie how some of the hotels and stadiums are .. it’s time to build a new black star and I know @afriyiebdaniel will lead Ghana to win a trophy one day“.

The fixture against Uruguay which brought back memories from the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa was dubbed a revenge for Otto Addo’s side.

Ghana’s game started on a good note with footprints of what had happened 12 years ago. Mohammed Kudus, one of the most pivotal players for the Black Stars was brought down in the penalty box by Sergio Rochet Alvarez. After a long VAR check, the referee awarded Ghana a penalty.

Captain of the side Andre Ayew stepped up for the kick but unfortunately sent Ghanaians down the memory lane with a miss, making Ghana the only team in FIFA World Cup history to miss two penalties against the same opposition.

Ghana’s team went on the back-foot immediately conceding a first goal of the game 5 minutes after the penalty miss. De Arrascaeta opened the scoring for Uruguay before quickly making it a double for Luis Suarez side to give them a cushion for qualification.

The Black Stars could not find the zeal and enthusiasm to pose threats to Uruguay as the team went into the break losing by two goals to nil.

Coach Otto Addo made two changes for the start of the second half taking off Jordan and Andre Ayew for Sulemana and Osman Bukari respectively.

Ghana’s changes improved their game a little but could not pose any threat at goal for Uruguay who wanted to see off the game with the two-goal advantage.

  • I get upset when people with no light, small credit disrespect me – Sonnie Badu

Sonnie Badu has dared social media trolls to come and face him in person to tell him to his face what they say about him on social media.

According to the US-based Ghanaian gospel musician, he gets upset when people with no light at home insult him on social media whilst they have little data on their phones as well.

The outspoken Gospel minister during a radio interview said “what upsets me is, sometimes, a type and kind of people who just had a little credit on their phone, no light at home and they have the audacity to push a word, to disrespect you“.

Sharing his thoughts on how people disrespect him on social media, he continued that “then it’s like a whole host of houseflies jump on what they said on me“. According to Sonnie Badu, he wishes the trolls are brave to do it better in his face if they are not afraid than hiding behind social media.

Speaking during an interview with Hammer Nti on Pure FM, he said “I normally say if you are a brave man come and stand in front of me and say what you want to say because I’m not afraid to say that”.

However, those who are higher tinkers will always understand what I’m saying because I’m not afraid to speak my mind,” he added

  • Arrest all the men – Sonnie Badu reacts to viral ‘child-flogging’ video

Rockhill Chapel founder, Dr. Sonnie Badu, has reacted to the viral video in which a man was captured rigorously assaulting a baby.

In the said video, which has been making rounds on the internet, the unidentified man ruthlessly flogged the baby, while he helplessly cried in the video.

The ‘barbaric’ nature of the abuse has since sparked fury among social media users who have drawn the attention of the police.

Sonnie Badu, who also seems disgusted by the act, has waded into this conversation.

The US-based Ghanaian pastor has called for the arrest of all persons involved, including those who sat aloof and watched the incident happen.

“I can’t play the full video as I’m already full of tears. Please arrest all three men! The one abusing the child, the one videoing it, and the one sitting down,” he wrote on Instagram.

Meanwhile, the police have responded to the several calls while stating that efforts are underway to track down the individual involved, have him arrested, and rescue the child.

The institution has also announced a reward of GH₵2,000 for anyone who is able to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the male adult involved in the act.

  • Sonnie Badu rallies support, prayers for Otto Addo

Ghanaian gospel musician, Sonnie Badu, has expressed confidence in the Black Stars technical team and players.

He is of the view that the only challenge militating against the team is the lack of time for coach Otto Addo to prepare the team as well as the inexperience of the young players who form a major part of the squad.

The preacher/musician believes that the team will get into excellent form in the future after they have gotten to know each other and bonded some more.

He also asked for support and prayers for Black Stars coach Otto Addo.

“I think we have a solid technical team. The only problem is this: I don’t think the coach has enough time to prepare the team and all of these young players will be excellent in the future – when they know each other better and they can bond more.

“Additionally, on the World Cup stage we might have a problem with inexperience and lack of bonding. With all of that being said, let us support the coach and pray for him… Yes, “Ghana football has the whole Ghana coaching the #Blackstars it’s been like that and it will never change. I wish the team the best of luck in the World Cup,” Sonnie Badu wrote on his Facebook page.

Otto Addo has come under fire from supporters over his team’s poor run since taking charge of the Black Stars.

The pressure has mounted since Brazil thrashed Black Stars by three goals to nil while the team managed only a goal against a less fancied Nicaraguan side in their recent international friendlies.

He has been scolded mainly on his team selection and tactics.

  • What Sonnie Badu has said about Asamoah Gyan’s exclusion from Black Stars

Ghanaian gospel musician, Sonnie Badu, has made a case for the inclusion of Asamoah Gyan in the Black Stars team for the World Cup in Qatar.

In a Facebook post on September 27, the singer observed that the ‘jama’ session which Asamoah Gyan frequently led played a crucial role in building team spirit.

He said since Gyan left, the morale which the celebrated striker brought has left the camp. Sonnie Badu maintained that the qualification of Black Stars to the World Cup may well have come on the back of luck having miraculously eliminated West African rivals, Nigeria.

He said Asamoah Gyan should be included in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming tournament before he is snatched for punditry duties.

“Soccer or football is off and on the pitch. Ever since he left the morale is gone. Who did he hand over the “Jama” singing to? It was all part of building the team sprit… I don’t know what has gone on, but he is needed before a pundit from super sport grabs him for the World Cup …

“Someone will say but we qualified against Nigeria without him , well hold on , That game was a no brainer .. I fear Ghana vrs IvoryCoast or Cameron but Ghana Nigeria has a history, luck is always on our side .. lol,” Sonnie Badu wrote on his Facebook page.

It will be recalled that Asamoah Gyan in an interview with BBC last month indicated his intention to play at the 2022 World Cup.

The comment by the football legend spilt heads as some argued that he will be of great help to the team with his experience whiles others argued that he is not fit to compete.

However former Black Stars winger Christian Atsu backed Asamoah Gyan’s intentions.

Atsu who took to social media and tweeted, “Honour @ASAMOAH_GYAN3 with his last wish.”

Gyan is Africa’s highest scorer at the World Cup with six goals and has played at three World Cups since 2006.

Gyan last played for the Ghana national team in 2019 at the AFCON where the Black Stars exited at the Round of 16 stage.

The striker last made a competitive appearance for Legon Cities in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.

  • There is no tribe in Ghana called ‘Ashanti’ – Manasseh educates Sonnie Badu

Ghanaian gospel artiste based in the United Kingdom, Sonnie Badu on Friday, September 9, shared a photo of himself wearing a colourful kente cloth to represent the rich culture and tradition of his region.

In the Facebook post that has generated over 740 comments, his fans showered him with compliments for selling Ghana to the world.

The image was captioned: “Proud Ghanaian… proud African…proud Ashanti.#Kente.”

Ghanaian journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni reacting to the post, corrected the singer on the wrong spelling of ‘Asante’ which was misspelt as ‘Ashanti’.

According to him, many locals get confused with the right spelling by replacing the last letter of Asante with the alphabet ‘i’. He added that it was adulterated by the white man.

He, however, complimented Sonnie for his choice of outfit for the wedding he recently attended.

“This is beautiful, but for your information, there is no ethnic group in Ghana called Ashanti. The right name is Asante. The traditional ruler of the Asante people is Asantehene and they speak Asante Twi. The Asante people refer to their kingdom as Asanteman. A singular Asante is called Asanteni and we refer to them as Asantefuo. So, you are an Asante, not Ashanti.

He further explained that: “The “Ashanti” in our books is the white man’s adulteration of Asante, which is still being used to identify the administrative region of the Asante people. I wonder why we cannot just change it to Asante Region, instead of keeping the “Ashanti” Region. It’s just like Kibi (Kyebi) and Akim (Akyem) which are still on some names of schools and towns. And many will be surprised to know that there is no ethnic group called Dagaati. Maybe, we have to make a conscious effort to return to the right names.”
