Ukraine war: Russia claims drones caused harm to five people at Kursk railway station

Russia says that a drone from Ukraine has hit a train station in the Kursk area, hurting five people.

It is being said that another drone has landed in the Rostov region. This region is near Ukraine, just like Kursk. Luckily, nobody got hurt.

Russia also announced that it stopped a flying robot that was going towards Moscow. The robot then fell down in a place where there were no people.

Accusations of drone attacks happening in Russia have been happening more often in the past few months.

Even though Ukraine hasn’t said that they were responsible for certain drone attacks, President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously mentioned that attacking Russian territory is something that will happen and is fair.

The BBC has confirmed that there are videos showing broken windows and a fire at the railway station in Kursk. Kursk is located approximately 150 km (93 miles) away from the Ukrainian border.

Five people got hurt by pieces of glass, according to Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency. The top part, outer area, and flat surface of the station were broken.

Maria Zakharova, who speaks for the ministry, said that Ukrainian nationalists have greatly harmed our shared history.

Russia’s defense ministry said that it stopped an attempted terrorist attack using drones on infrastructure in Moscow, by the Kyiv regime. This happened at around 4:00 am local time.

The drone heading towards Moscow was destroyed by electronic devices meant to disrupt its control. It lost control and crashed in an area where no people live, the ministry said.

Russia’s aviation agency, Rosaviatsia, has stated that flights to the Domodedovo and Vnukovo international airports are currently restricted for a temporary period of time.

On Saturday, a Russian missile hit a theatre in the city of Chernihiv in Ukraine, and seven people, including a six-year-old girl, were killed.

Officials said that 15 children and 148 other people were injured.

President Zelensky promised to take action against Russia as a response to the terrorist attack, and the action will be significant.

Gunmen kidnap 32 people from Nigeria train station

Gunmen wielding AK-47 rifles kidnapped at least 32 people from a train station in Nigeria’s southern Edo state on Sunday, according to the governor’s office.

The majority of the victims were people waiting to board a train from Igueben to Warri in neighbouring Delta state.

According to reports, the gunmen shot sporadically into the air during the attack on Saturday evening before seizing the hostages and transporting them to a nearby forest.

The train station has been closed, according to state spokesperson Chris Osa Nehikhare, as security forces and local hunters search for the hostages.

Eyewitnesses say some of those who escaped from the attackers sustained bullet wounds. The gunmen are also said to have released two children.

A woman with a baby also reportedly escaped from the attackers and found her way to a neighbouring community where she was rescued.

The incident comes as Nigeria prepares for next month’s general elections where rising insecurity has become a big campaign topic.

Last month, the rail service between the capital, Abuja, and the northern city of Kaduna resumed operations after being closed for nine months.

It followed an audacious hijacking of a high-speed train that left at least eight passengers dead and dozens of others kidnapped. The hostages were released months later.
