Rodrygo recently discussed his contract extension with Real Madrid.
The 22-year-old Brazilian forward, who initially joined Madrid in 2019 from Santos, has made a significant impact, scoring 39 goals in 179 appearances for the club.
Real Madrid made an official announcement on Thursday, revealing that Rodrygo has extended his contract with the club until June 2028.
“You could say that Real Madrid is my life,” he said. “I’m very happy about the renewal. I always come home motivated and happy because I’m going to train and play for Real Madrid. There is no greater motivation.”
Rodrygo is also delighted that Brazil teammate Vinicius Jr. signed a new deal with Madrid this week.
“We came here pretty much at the same time, both very young from Brazil,” Rodrygo added. “We’ve made history together, too. We’ve already won the Champions League and every possible title.
“This shirt always motivates us to come here to train and play. Doing that with a friend is always special. Vini is like a brother to me and we hope to continue to grow together.”
AC Milan is reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Real Betis’ left-back, Juan Miranda, during the upcoming January transfer window, as per Estadio Deportivo.
Miranda, aged 23, has not yet extended his contract with Betis, which is set to expire in June 2024.
AC Milan is willing to offer €3 million to secure Miranda’s transfer, coupled with a proposed five-year contract, and they appear to be nearing an agreement.
However, Betis is holding out for €10 million for the player, who previously played for Barcelona.
Initially, the Rossoneri had considered signing Miranda as a free agent next summer, but the interest fromJuventus has prompted them to expedite their pursuit.
Jurgen Klopp has provided insight into Luis Diaz’s potential availability for the Luton Town match, considering the recent kidnapping of his parents by the rebel group, the National Liberation Army (ELN), in Colombia.
While Diaz has returned to England and resumed training with his teammates over the past few days, Klopp stressed that the decision to play ultimately rests with the player himself.
“If he feels right, he will be with us. You can see he didn’t sleep a lot,” the manager told reporters ahead of his side’s trip to Luton Town on Sunday.
“I cannot really say what we will do because we just wait. It’s all about him, if he makes himself available or not and I don’t want to force anything. We cannot and will not force the Luis situation.”
There has been a positive development on Friday morning, as a representative of ELN has assured that Diaz senior will be released “as soon as possible”.
“The news from Colombia gives us a little bit of hope. I don’t get it personally but I get it forwarded. But everything that gives us a little bit of hope is good. So we are waiting for really good news.”
Diaz has excused himself fromLiverpool’s last two games and it remains to be seen if he features this weekend.
The Colombian government disclosed that the captors of Luis Manuel are members of the militant insurgency group known as the National Liberation Army (ELN).
Later in the day, a representative from the ELN confirmed that Diaz’s father’s release was imminent.
In the video clip, ELN member Juan Carlos Cuellar said that Luis Manuel would be released “as soon as possible”, which is a significant development in the case.
The ELN, a formidable insurgent group in Colombia, was established in 1964 and remains influential.
They had previously agreed to a ceasefire with the Colombian government in August, aiming to work towards peace.
However, the Interior Minister, Luis Fernando Velasco, stated on Thursday that this ceasefire had been breached due to a kidnapping incident, which led to the ELN’s response in a video message.
Diaz’s father was abducted on a Sunday, along with his mother, Cilenis Marulanda, by armed individuals on motorcycles.
Marulanda was released after a few hours, but Luis Manuel has been missing ever since.
There are concerns that he might have been taken across the border into Venezuela.
As a result of this distressing situation, Diaz was absent from Liverpool’s last two matches. Nevertheless, his teammates paid tribute to him in their 3-0 victory overNottingham Forest last Sunday.
Prominent Ghanaian sports journalist Saddick Adams has expressed his frustration with some residents of Somanya for what he sees as an unwarranted sense of entitlement regarding their expectations from Arsenal andGhanaian football star Thomas Partey.
Saddick Adams has criticised some members of the community, referring to them as ungrateful, and has accused them of not properly acknowledging the contributions Thomas Partey has made to their community.
The source of Saddick Adams’ anger stems from a video in which several residents expressed their discontent with the development projects initiated by Partey in the community.
This video was taken during a community football tournament organized by the Thomas Partey Foundation.
In the video, some residents can be seen confronting Thomas Partey’s father, expressing dissatisfaction with the contributions of his son to the community. These residents demanded more from Partey and attempted to downplay his fame and wealth.
In response, Thomas Partey’s father engaged with the residents and reprimanded them for not appreciating his son’s contributions. He emphasised that Partey would continue to do what he believed was best for himself, his family, and the community.
Saddick Adams, in his reaction to the video on his show, questioned why the community’s residents were directing their demands towards Partey rather than their elected representatives.
He argued that the residents should be seekingsupport and developmentfrom their elected officials, who are responsible for the progress of the community.
While Saddick Adams acknowledged that it would be commendable for Ghanaian football stars to invest significantly in their communities and undertake impactful projects, he emphasised that such initiatives should not be forced upon them.
Instead, he encouraged the community members to focus their efforts on holding their elected representatives accountable, as they are entrusted with the responsibility of community development.
“You are not happy with Partey organising a football gala in the community; do you pay your taxes to him? Do you pay e-levy to him? What did you do for him while he was growing up? Give him time to do what he has planned to do for the community.
“Give him time because you don’t make such demands from your governments. The fact that they make money doesn’t mean all is rosy.
“Someone could be making a lot of money but be using half of that amount to settle health-related issues. Don’t sit somewhere and calculate someone’s wealth,” he questioned.
Ashyirem Royal Gate has voiced strong criticismagainst Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his rejection of the nomination of Dr. Kofi Koduah Sarpong, the former Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), as the paramount chief of Offinso.
In a press release published on GhanaWeb, the Royal Gate accused the Asantehene of employing various tactics to obstruct Dr. K. K. Sarpong’s nomination, despite his being the preferred choice of the Offinso community.
Furthermore, the group expressed their disappointment with Otumfuo’s remarks made during the rejection of Dr. Sarpong’s nomination at a gathering held at the Manhyia Palace
“It is important to note that Otumfuo’s pronouncements at some of the Asanteman Council sittings on the Offinso Stool Affairs are regrettable. There have been unsubstantiated allegations, among others, all in a bid to justify a course of action he wants to take. Recounting these here can be very embarrassing, to say the least.
“…One can justifiably conclude that Otumfuo is trying at ALL COST, to find a reason to block Dr. K. K. Sarpong’s nomination. But we think the Overlord of Asanteman should eschew bias and exhibit fairness towards the Ashyirem Royal family and Offinsoman. Truth is that since we revere Otumfuo, it would have been disrespectful to have challenged his pronouncements while he was sitting in State.
However, it is only fair that very obvious errors that undermine the rights of the Ashyirem royals, including Dr. K. K. Sarpong, ought to be corrected,” parts of the statement read.
Additionally, the group alleged that the Asantehene resorted to intimidation tactics in an attempt to compel the Offinsohemaa, who are the kingmakers of Offinso, and K.K. Sarpong to yield to his wishes.
“Is this not contrary to the very principles on which Asanteman was founded and built? Wherein lies the “ ka bi na menka bi” mantra? Asanteman should be fair to all of its citizens at all times. We humbly appeal to Otumfuo not to wage a personal vendetta on anyone so as to get his will to prevail. Rather, justice should be done to all manner of persons to honour the Golden Stool and in line with his own oath,” it said.
“In line with Asante customs and traditions, which are often hammered by Otumfuo himself, he (Otumfuo) does not select and enstool any Omanhene. This is also the spirit of the Asante Confederacy, which protects the identity of each paramountcy. Otumfuo and Asanteman Council are invited to resolve misunderstandings in the process of enstoolment but not to undermine a process which has gone the full length without any blemish,” it added.
On April 28, 2022, just before his departure for the United States, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II declined a request from Offinsohene Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko to endorse Dr. Sarpong as her nominee for the Offinso stool. Instead, he advised her to adhere to the traditions and customary protocols.
The kingmakers of the Offinso Traditional Area had selected the former GNPC executive to assume the role left vacant by the passing of the late paramount chief of Offinso, Nana Wiafe Akenten II, who had joined his ancestors.
The Colombian government has confirmed that Luis Diaz’s father was kidnapped by the militant insurgency group known as the National Liberation Army (ELN).
The search for the Liverpool player’s father, Luis Manuel Diaz, who was abducted last week alongside his wife by armed individuals on motorcycles, is ongoing.
Although the winger’s mother, Cilenis Marulanda, was released shortly after the initial abduction, the police are still working to locate Manuel Diaz.
It’s worth noting that the Colombian government is currently engaged in peace talks with the ELN, as the country grapples with a conflict that has endured for nearly six decades.
Government representative Otty Patino revealed that the group’s involvement in the kidnapping became apparent during negotiations.
A statemet read: “Today we have officially learned that the kidnapping carried out on October 28, in Barrancas, department of La Guajira, of which Luis Manuel Diaz and Cilenis Marulanda, father and mother of the soccer player Luis Fernando, were victims, was perpetrated by a unit belonging to the ELN.
“Although Mrs. Marulanda was released a few hours later, the player’s father has been kidnapped for five days. As a delegation of the National Government for peace talks with the ELN, we express all our solidarity with Luis Diaz, his family, the entire country and with the millions of followers of the player in the world.
“We demand that the ELN immediately release Mr. Luis Manuel Diaz, and we remind him that it is his entire responsibility to guarantee his life and integrity.”
Police have already made an arrest in the case, believing to have detained the man responsible for tracking the pair and informing the group of their whereabouts.
Authorities have offered a 200 million peso (£40,000/$49,000) reward for information about the kidnapping as they feared the culprits would attempt to smuggle Luis Manuel into Venezuela.
The case has caused an uproar in the town of Barrancas, La Guajira, where Luis Manuel is a respected figure.
Citizens from the area had a candle-lit march calling for his release, with many wearing white t-shirts that depicted a picture of the kidnapping victim.
TheGeneral Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Koduah, provided clarification on the voting rights of party members who have been suspended, particularly in the context of the upcoming presidential primaries.
Koduah explained that suspended members are entitled to cast their votes either before they face a disciplinary committee or while the disciplinary process is still ongoing.
This approach is guided by the fundamental principle of presuming innocence until a final verdict is reached in their respective cases.
He conveyed this information during a press conference held in Accra in anticipation of the NPP’s presidential primaries scheduled for November 4.
“Per our party constitution, what this presupposes is that a person can be suspended before appearing before a disciplinary committee or when a disciplinary committee would have been initiated.
“But as a rule and in line with that rule of law, there is what we refer to as the presumption of innocence until a matter is determined. So whereby a person has been suspended under this provision, has not gone through a disciplinary committee and they have also not come out with the verdict and recommended their verdict to the constituency executives, such person will vote,” he stated.
This means that any individual who has been suspended and has not yet appeared before a disciplinary committee or is currently undergoing a disciplinary committee trial without a final judgement will be eligible to vote.
However, those who have undergone the disciplinary committee process, received recommendations, and faced sanctions that have been approved by the constituency executive committee will not retain their voting privileges.
Nevertheless, the General Secretary highlighted the possibility of conditional amnesty, where the constituency executive committee may consider granting clemency and reinstating the voting rights of suspended individuals based on the merits of their specific circumstances.
“However, where the person has gone through a disciplinary committee and the DC has come out with a recommendation and has submitted the same to the constituency executive committee and sanctions have been applied to the person, such a person shall not be entitled to vote. But also, under conditional amnesty, the constituency executive can look at the merit of their case and pardon such people to vote,” he added.
Movement for Change, under the leadership of Mr. Alan Kyerematen, was officially inaugurated on September 25, 2023, and has since initiated an outreach program in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti region.
Donned in their distinctive gold T-shirts featuring a butterfly logo, the dedicated volunteers made their presence known in Kumasi’s central business district and market centers, aiming to introduce their movement to the people of Oseikrom.
The warm and enthusiastic reception from the locals overwhelmed the volunteers to the extent that, at times, they had to apologise for their inability to provide more movement-related materials to the eager crowd.

The voters in the city expressed their approval of the team’s efforts and reassured the volunteers that it’s only a matter of time before many of them, including businessmen and women, join the movement.
They strongly believe that the country must be liberated from the control of the NPP and the NDC.
Solomon Owusu, a prominent member of the Movement, emphasised that with less than 14 months remaining until the 2024 election, if the two major political parties, which have collectively governed the country for thirty-two (32) years, underestimate the significance of this upcoming election, they must reconsider.
Owusu added that theMovement for Change is poised to become a formidable force, destined to make a lasting impact on history.
Bayern Munich’s defender, Matthijs de Ligt, will be sidelined for an undetermined duration due to a knee ligament injury sustained during Wednesday’s German Cup defeat to third-tier Saarbruecken, as reported by the club on Thursday.
The Dutch international was forced to exit the second-round match in the 24th minute
“Matthijs de Ligt sustained a partial tear of the ligament in his right knee joint,” the German champions said in a statement.
“That’s the outcome of a scan carried out by the club’s medical department on Thursday. Centre-back de Ligt will therefore miss FC Bayern’s upcoming games.”
Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel said it appeared to be a repeat of a knee injury that De Ligt suffered in September, which sidelined him for three weeks.
“It’s the same knee again, the same capsule [in the joint] again. It’s very painful but there is currently no diagnosis yet,” he said.
De Ligt’s injury has created a defensive crisis for Tuchel ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated “Der Klassiker” against Borussia Dortmund.
Joshua Kimmich, who temporarily shifted to the defensive line alongside Kim Min-Jae when De Ligt was forced off on Wednesday, is unavailable for the upcoming game due to a red card suspension he received last week.
Adding to the challenge, the club’s only other dedicated center-back, Dayot Upamecano, continues to be sidelined with a hamstring injury that has sidelined him for the past month.
It’s worth noting that Bayern is currently in second place in the Bundesliga, trailing league leader Bayer Leverkusen by just two points.
On Thursday, La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid made an official announcement regarding the extension of Brazilian forward Rodrygo’s contract, now set to run until June 2028.
The 22-year-old Rodrygo originally joined Madrid in 2019, transitioning from the Brazilian club Santos. Since his arrival, he has made a significant impact, netting 39 goals in a total of 179 appearances for the club.
Over the course of his five seasons at Real Madrid, Rodrygo has enjoyed considerable success, clinching eight trophies, including two La Liga titles and one Champions League triumph.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Rodrygo have agreed a contract extension for the player, who will remain at the club until June 30, 2028,” a club statement said.
“Rodrygo has been instrumental in many of the trophies Real Madrid have lifted in recent seasons.”
Rodrygo, whose existing contract was set to conclude in June 2025, made headlines by netting both goals in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory against Osasuna in the 2023 Copa del Rey final, earning him the title of Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the match.
The Brazilian international has tallied two goals in 14 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid in the current season.
Remarkably, Rodrygo is the second player from the Madrid squad to secure a contract extension this week. Earlier, on Tuesday, the club had officially revealed that Vinícius Júnior had committed to a new contract that extends through June 2027.
Bayer Leverkusen is well aware of Barcelona’s keen interest in Florian Wirtz, but they maintain confidence that they won’t lose the talented German midfielder to the Spanish champions, according to a report in Mundo Deportivo.
Florian Wirtz, who is just 20 years old, has truly shone for Leverkusen this season, contributing significantly to their rise to the top of the Bundesliga.
He has notched up an impressive five goals and provided nine assists across all competitions. Unsurprisingly, his exceptional form has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s most prominent clubs, including Barcelona.
However, Leverkusen is fully aware of their strong position in this matter.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWKztakVUuA
Wirtz has a contractual commitment to the club that extends until 2027, and the report indicates that Leverkusen, currently under the management of Xabi Alonso, would demand a substantial fee well exceeding €80 million to even consider the possibility of letting him go.
Barcelona, due to their financial constraints and a pressing need to bolster other positions within the team, faces substantial challenges in securing a deal for Wirtz, despite their genuine interest in the player.
Mundo Deportivo notes that the only aspect potentially favouring Barcelona is Wirtz’s previous expressions of a desire to play for the Catalan club, should he ever decide to depart from Leverkusen.
Founder and leader of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Christian Kwabena Andrews, also known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, has invited Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin-North and a contender for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, Kennedy Agyapong to join his party ahead of the 2024 general elections.
The GUM leader believes that the ‘rants and fuming’, the talk and the campaigning would eventually become a waste; “it wouldn’t go anywhere,” hence he has invited the Assin North MP to join his party to make Ghana better.
“My brother Ken, what I have to say is that he is a man of wisdom and quite knowledgeable. The long talks and all , it shall become a waste at the end of the day.
“Nothing will come out of it so frankly speaking, if he can, I invite him to join me (GUM) in my run for presidency, so together we can help build Ghana for the better”, he said in Twi during an interview with Accra-based radio station Kasapa FM.
Ken Agyapong Should Forget Nov 4 and Join Me As Running Mate- Osofo Kyiri Abosom
However, the GUM leader is not ready to hand over his flagbearer role should Ken decide to join.
When asked, he insisted that he had already entered the books of the Electoral Commission as flag bearer; hence, stepping down for Ken would not be possible.
“I have already been selected by the EC. I’m done so then how do I go back to EC to effect changes? No it won’t work” he responded.

The stadium will have a capacity of 10,400 spectators and will be the home ground for Medeama SC, a Ghanaian football club that plays in the Premier League.
The stadium is expected to be completed by March 2024
The project is funded by the Goldfields Ghana Foundation, which is the corporate social responsibility arm of Goldfields Ghana, a mining company that operates in the Tarkwa and Damang areas.

Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus has explained the technique he used in scoring a stunning goal in West Ham’s 3-1 win against Arsenal in the EFL Cup.
Kudus delivered a standout performance that included scoring a crucial goal against Arsenal in the EFL Cup.
The midfielder’s remarkable goal showcased his exceptional ball control and striking prowess.
Kudus’ moment of brilliance came when he netted West Ham’s second goal in the match. With breath-taking finesse, he displayed a jaw-dropping touch that can only be described as magical.
The confident Hammer unleashed a lethal strike into the far-right corner of the net.
Speaking after watching his goal, Kudus provided a glimpse into the technique he employed.
“Wow!!! What a finish. I think it was a beautiful ball from Nayuf so I just had to take the touch inside because there was no space outside and I saw the goalkeeper was on the other side.
“And when I come inside, it’s always the far corner and boom, it was a goal,” Kudus said.
The 23-year-old, who has been nominated for the CAF African Player of the Year, has so far scored four goals since joining West Ham in the summer transfer window.

The tragic incident occurred at a guest house in the Temidire community, Offa Garage area of Ilorin. The couple had checked into the guest house for a night of fun, but the situation took a tragic turn.
During their sexual encounter, the young woman became exhausted and eventually passed out, failing to respond. Sadly, she passed away.

The man, Joshua Stephen Muirui, had visited Wanjiku at her rental house, and they had a meal together before mutually agreeing to have sex.
“She prepared meat stew and ugali, which they took for lunch. After eating, he requested that they proceed to the bedroom. At around 4 p.m., as they were making love, he fell unconscious,” a police report said, as quoted by TUKO.co.ke.
Sensing danger, the suspect called her lover’s friend for help to take him to the hospital.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag expressed concern about Antony’s recent performances, stating that the Brazilian winger’s levels have noticeably declined.
Antony played the full 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup match against Newcastle, following a criticised cameo appearance against Manchester City, where he was involved in an incident with Jeremy Doku.
United suffered a 3-0 loss to Newcastle, and Antony struggled to make an impact.
Ten Hag suggested that external distractions might be influencing Antony’s performance on the pitch.
Ten Hag said: “That is also team, first, and the team is not playing well when we don’t bring him the balls and I am also responsible for that.
But obviously, there was also a lot of noise and that dropped his levels. He can do better but all the players can do better.
“Antony is also a fighter; he has the confidence, he is brave and I am confident he will bring the performance that he is the right player for us.”

In post-game interviews with West Ham Fan TV, some young fans of the club could barely contain their excitement as they effusively praised the Ghanaian’s remarkable goal-scoring effort.
“It was a great finish, good control and a great finish,” one of the young fans said.
Another young fan who watched the game at the London Stadium described Kudus as the master of the game for West Ham.

Upon their return home after a defeat to FC Samartex 1996, Legon Cities experienced a distressing incident as they were attacked by armed robbers along the Bibiani-Kumasi highway around 11 p.m.
In an official statement, the club confirmed the incident, stating that “On our way back to Accra after playing the Ghana Premier League match against FC Samartex, our team was targeted by armed robbers at Toase.”
The robbers made off with various belongings, including phones, laptops, and money.
The club also indicated that the team made it safely back to Accra, but they have not yet lodged a formal complaint with the police.
Photographs from the scene depicted a damaged driver’s side window, and one image showed Osman Amadu with a bandaged hand.
The unfortunate incident involving Legon Cities being targeted by armed robbers on a highway is not an isolated occurrence for the club. Previously known as Wa All Stars, the team experienced a similar highway robbery while en route to a match against Hearts of Oak in 2008.
It’s worth noting that other Ghanaian football clubs, such as Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold, have also encountered similar incidents in the past. The unfortunate incident involvingLegon Cities being targeted by armed robbers on a highway is not an isolated occurrence for the club.
Previously known as Wa All Stars, the team experienced a similar highway robbery while en route to a match against Hearts of Oak in 2008.
It’s worth noting that other Ghanaian football clubs, such as Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold, have also encountered similar incidents in the past.
In March 2022, the team bus of Ashantigold, which was suspended at the time, fell victim to an attack while heading back after a match against Hearts of Oak. As for Asante Kotoko SC, in 2015, when they were lodged at a hotel in Accra before a match against Hearts of Oak, they also experienced a similar incident.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has chosen Ghanaian defender Jarell Quansah as the Man of the Match in recognition of his performance against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup match on Wednesday night.
During the match, Quansah, who was born in England but represents Ghana, played the full duration as Liverpool secured a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth, allowing them to advance to the next stage of the Cup competition.
Quansah formed a defensive partnership with Joel Matip and was impressed with his performance. Notably, he made the most pass attempts out of all players in the game, totaling 97 passes with an 89% completion rate.
Speaking after the game, Klopp heaped praise on the Ghanaian defender following his outstanding performance during the game.
“Jarell Quansah was my Man of the Match. Super game!”.
“Strong in the tackles. We gave him the ball a lot. He had a lot to do. Great”. He added.
Liverpool opened the scoring at the Vitality Stadium through Cody Gakpo after 31 minutes into the game.
Dutch international Justin Kluivert scored in the 64th minute to restore parity for the hosts before Darwin Nunez sealed a win for Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo lasted 74 minutes as his team bowed out of theCarabao Cup competition.
Brentford is reportedly seeking a transfer fee of £100 million for their striker Ivan Toney, who has garnered interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, as per Sky Sports.
The Bees are planning to retain Toney at least until the end of the season, given his return following an eight-month ban for betting offenses on January 16.
Although Toney’s comeback is a positive development for Brentford manager Thomas Frank, it has also attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs looking to acquire his services.
However, any potential transfer would require a significant offer, as offers in the range of £60 million are said to have been dismissed at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Toney came third in the Premier League goal-scoring charts last season, with 20 goals. Leading Frank to say in the summer: “£100m plus?… What would you pay for a striker who guarantees you 20-plus goals? And this is 20 goals for a mid-table club. What can he do in a bigger club?”
The IT Manager of Legon Cities shared a harrowing account of how a police patrol team seemed unresponsive when their team fell victim to armed robbers on their way back to Accra after playing against FC Samartex during the eighth week of the 2023–24 GPL season.
After a challenging journey to Samreboi that concluded with a3-0 defeat to FC Samartex, the Legon Cities team bus encountered armed robbers in Kwanfifi, a town along the Bibiani to Kumasi highway.
During an interview with Asempa FM, Super, the IT Manager of Legon Cities, revealed that the robbers compelled the bus to halt in the middle of the road and forced all passengers to lie down on the ground while they looted their possessions.
“You can’t raise your head, but you were like four and they made us lie on the ground and took all our monies up to 9000 cedis, 11 phones, bags with boots and my laptop. They hit me and one of our players.”
He noted that after the robbers made away with the booty and fled the scene, they rushed into their bus and also took off.
According to him, they were shocked to meet a police barrier three minutes away from where the robbery happened and yet they never came to their rescue.
“Less than three minutes later, we saw a police barrier and they were just sitting down.
“So our driver furiously asked them why they failed to act despite hearing gunshots. But they said nothing, so some of us thought they connived with the robbers; they made no comment,” he said.
This alarming incident highlights an ongoing security issue encountered by not just Legon Cities but also numerous other clubs in the Ghana Premier League.
Sadly, women’s Premier League teams like Perpia Ladies and Savannah Ladies have also experienced attacks by armed robbers under similar circumstances.
Inter Milan is set to initiate talks with their star striker, Lautaro Martinez, regarding a contract extension.
Martinez, aged 26, currently leads Serie A in scoring with 11 goals in 10 matches this season.
His agent, Alejandro Camano, has confirmed that he will engage in discussions with Inter’s management in the upcoming days to negotiate a new contract for his client, as his existing deal is set to expire in June 2026.
“We have a great relationship with the Nerazzurri,” Camano said. “And we are discussing getting together to talk about Martinez’s renewal. Inter wants to renew Lautaro’s contract. And we want to extend it. We’ll see each other in the next few days.
“We’re talking about a very important player for Inter. And of a very important club for Lautaro. It’s not just money that matters. There are various factors.
“For Lautaro, it’s not just about money; it’s about a feeling for the club, a city that loves him and that he loves.”
A 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina, Martinez helped Inter win the Coppa Italia last season and reach the Champions League final, though they lost 1-0 to Manchester City.
Luis Suarez is on the verge of joining Inter Miami after his contract with Brazilian club Gremio expires in December, according to TyC.
The 36-year-old striker is excited about the prospect of playing alongside his friend and former Barcelona teammate, Lionel Messi, at Inter Miami next year.
In his 46 appearances for Gremio, Suarez has scored 19 goals and provided 16 assists in all competitions.
Inter Miami had attempted to sign the Uruguayan in the previous transfer window but were unsuccessful.
Suarez is expected to travel to Miami in December once he becomes a free agent to finalise his contract with The Herons.
Ghanaian musician Gasmilla has cautioned Ghanaians against categorising artists into specific music genres or styles, emphasising that creativity thrives when artists have the freedom to explore different genres instead of being restricted to a single category.
“I don’t think people should box artistes into one style of music. That singular act kills creativity,” he said.
Gasmilla expressed his belief that constraining artists to a specific style can impede their creative potential and advocated for an end to this practice.
He also insists that he values the process of crafting music meticulously, striving to create songs that will be treasured over the long term; hence, he doesn’t rush into producing songs as frequently as others do.
He made these known during an interview with Graphic Showbiz.
“I don’t rush to make quick songs. I take my time with my music, crafting each one carefully. My goal is to make music that people will love for a long, long time”, the words of Gasmilla.
Gasmilla’s remarks contribute to the broader discussion regarding the state of the Ghana music industry and its comparative performance with that of other nations, notably Nigeria, where its artists have gained recognition on global stages
The Ministry of Finance has issued a statement urging shippers and importers to disregard a letter titled “Re-enhancing Shipping Data Collection and Management in Ghana through Smart Port and Electronic Cargo Tracking,” which is claimed to have been sent from the Ministry.
The letter, dated September 15, 2023, states that all shipments to Ghana, including transit shipments, must obtain an Electronic Cargo Transit Number (ECTN/SPN) and submit it to Antaser Afrique BVBA for verification.
The Ministry has clarified that the letter and its contents are fraudulent and should not be taken seriously.
Finance Ministry on Smart Port
The Finance Ministry expressed its gratitude to shipping agents and stakeholders who brought this matter to their attention and assured the public that any new government tax policies would be communicated through official channels.
“We thank all stakeholders who alerted us and made inquiries and wish to assure them that, as is done with all policies, extensive consultation will be done with relevant stakeholders wheneverthe government wishes to introduce a new policy or tax,” parts of the statement read.
Six additional individuals associated with theWestern Togoland Foundation have received varying prison sentences totaling thirteen years and six months, along with a collective fine of 1300 penalty units equivalent to GH¢15,600.
These six individuals were allegedly involved in road blockades in Sogakope and attacks on police stations in Aveyime and Mepe on September 25, 2020, as part of a secessionist movement aimed at detaching parts of the Volta, Oti, and Northern regions from Ghana.
Initially, ten accused persons were on trial, all pleading not guilty to charges of attending a meeting and being members of a prohibited organization.
Following the trial, four of the accused were acquitted and discharged, while the remaining six were convicted.
The convictions were made under the Prohibited Organisations Act of 1976 (SMCD 20), which allows for a maximum prison sentence of five years or a maximum fine of 1000 penalty units, or both, for those found guilty under the Act.
Prior to sentencing, the lawyers of the six convicts appealed to the court for leniency, requesting that fines be imposed as punishment instead of custodial sentences.
For the third accused person, Godfred Gabriel Govina, his lawyer asked the court to consider a fine, emphasizing that he was a first-time offender and the breadwinner of his family. The lawyer pointed out that the convict is a husband to two wives with nine children, and any further imprisonment would significantly affect the family.
However, Justice Mary Yanzuh sentenced the third accused to three years in prison and ordered a fine of 300 penalty units, taking into account Gabriel Govina’s status as a retired teacher and stating that he should have known better given his status.
The fourth accused, Benjamin Gbadago, was sentenced to 24 months in prison and a fine of 200 penalty units for being a member of the prohibited Western Togoland Restoration Front and Homeland Study Foundation. His lawyers had pleaded for a non-custodial sentence, citing his poor health.
Cephas Zoddanu, the seventh accused person convicted of four counts related to a prohibited organisation, received a three-year prison sentence and a fine of 200 penalty units.
Lawyers for the eighth accused, Richard Doglo Ametepe, appealed for a fine rather than a custodial sentence, considering that he had collapsed in court upon receiving the conviction. They also noted that he had spent approximately three years in jail, and the maximum sentence for the offence was five years.
However, Justice Mary Yanzuh imposed a custodial sentence of three years and a fine of 200 penalty units.
The ninth accused person, known in private life as Cosmos Havor but holding the position of chief in the traditional area of Afife under the stool name Togbe Aszaklo, was convicted for attending meetings and participating in the campaign of a prohibited organisation, where the place was declared an independent state on September 1, 2020.
Despite acknowledging the seriousness of the chief’s actions due to his status, the court imposed a relatively lenient term of 24 months in prison and a fine of 400 penalty units due to the age and health of the convict.
The tenth convict, Vincent Ramsayer Atsu-Galey, received a six-month prison sentence.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has disclosed that he shares a strong bond with Chelsea counterpart Mauricio Pochettino and regards him as a “father figure.”
Although they are presently coaching rival teams in the Premier League, they were once teammates at Paris Saint-Germain.
Arteta had a loan spell at PSG from Barcelona early in his professional career back in 2001, and it was during this period that he joined forces with Pochettino.
Despite Pochettino being a decade his senior, the Gunners boss has opened up about their close relationship.
Pochettino and Arteta spent a season and a half as teammates before Arteta’s move to Rangers. Nevertheless, they crossed paths once more when Arteta signed for Real Sociedad, while Pochettino returned to Espanyol.
Arteta has since flourished as a coach, with his Arsenal side delivering strong performances in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Pochettino has earned recognition as a respected manager through his tenures at Espanyol, Southampton, Tottenham, and PSG before his recent appointment with Chelsea in the summer.
Arteta has hailed Pochettino as a key influence on his career, alongside the likes of Pep Guardiola, Johan Cruyff and Arsene Wenger.
“Then one of the ones I have to say was Mauricio Pochettino because he was the first professional captain I had and he was like a father figure for me when I arrived at PSG,” he told Football365.
“We signed almost the same day and we all landed in the same hotel, five or ten minutes away from the training ground. We could not speak French; we were there by ourselves and we spent three months in that hotel together every single day.
“So we built a really strong relationship. He was 30 or 31 years old; I was 17/18 and he just put me under his arm, carried me and protected me. It was a joy to have someone like that.”
Arteta’s Arsenal is set to take on West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, while Chelsea will be facing Blackburn in their upcoming fixture.
Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly upset during a heated exchange with Jordan Henderson following Al-Nassr’s cup victory over Al-Ettifaq on Tuesday.
Both former Premier League stars, who had highly successful tenures at Manchester United and Liverpool, engaged in a verbal dispute after Al-Nassr secured a thrilling 1-0 win over Al-Ettifaq.
Sadio Mane netted the decisive goal in extra time at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, propelling Al-Nassr into the quarterfinals of the King Cup of Champions.
After the final whistle, Ronaldo confronted Henderson, seemingly expressing his frustration with the match officials.
Ronaldo made several gestures in the midfielder’s direction and engaged in an intense face-off before making his way towards the tunnel.
Their animated conversation continued as they left the pitch.
Henderson managed to avoid a red card during the match, despite deliberately pushing Portuguese international Otavio to the ground on two occasions after Ali Hazazi had fouled the winger.
This incident triggered a heated confrontation on the field involving players from both Al-Nassr and Al-Ettifaq, but only Hazazi was shown a red card, and Henderson emerged unscathed.
This encounter marked the firsttime Ronaldo and Henderson had shared the same pitch since Manchester United’s home game against Liverpool on August 22, which concluded with a 2-1 victory for the home team.
Ronaldo departed Old Trafford three months later and joined Al-Nassr in the new year, while Henderson made his move to Al-Ettifaq from Liverpool in July.
Al-Nassr is set to face Al-Khaleej on Saturday, while Al-Ettifaq will host Al-Raed in the Saudi Pro League on the same day.
The National Cathedral, the religious monument that was intended to be a catalyst for national and regional cohesion, has come under several criticisms since its start, especially at a time when the country is facing its worst economic crisis in decades.
The most outstanding of it all is the controversy, accusations of monetary embezzlement and lack of transparency in the implementation of the project.
In response to this, Executive Director for the National Cathedral Secretariat, Dr. Paul Opoku Mensah,on November 23, 2023, during a press conference where he spoke on fund raising and accountability of the National Cathedral, refuted all claims of criminality and claims of the trustee shying away from all forms of auditing due to potential corruption incidents.
Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has been investigating the project, according to the executive director, an exercise in which they have fully cooperated since its start in January 2023.
“So the notion that we are running away from accountability is simply false. In fact, since January, CHRAJ has been involved in detailed investigations and we’ve been cooperating”, he said.
Dr Paul insists that the finances of the Cathedral project are currently being audited by two prominent firms, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and Deloitte.
“At the moment, there are two ongoing audits that seem to look into issues of accountability, namely
“An investigation by CHRAJ into issues of conflict of interest and procurement and a financial audit by deloitte
“Where the last information I saw was a questionnaire to the contractors about how they came to be selected. So everything is being detailed,” he stated.
“So there’s a detailed audit, Deloitte extensive information; in fact, the last info they wanted was anybody who has contributed to the National Cathedral. They wanted details to be sure that there’s not been any fishy, he added.
Given all the details of the auditing the project has been subjected to, Dr Paul mentioned that “there is no criminality in this project” as his outfit has executed the project with integrity and transparency.
“There is the idea that a project of this nature wouldn’t want to be held accountable; I can’t understand or cannot fathom it but with this audit notwithstanding , I want to state that there is no criminality in this project.
“We have implemented the project with integrity and are accountable for all the funds (sic) from the state to the National Cathedral project”.
Former Black Stars defender Samuel Inkoom has expressed his aspiration to make a comeback to his former club, Asante Kotoko, before concluding his football career.
Inkoom, who is currently without a club following his departure from Hearts of Oak at the conclusion of the previous season, has taken a step towards his post-football life by launching his football agency, the S-Inkoom Football Management Agency.
Nonetheless, the 34-year-old veteran defender harbours one final desire to fulfil before his retirement.
“I have always said that I will play for Kotoko again before I retire. It is my wish. I signed a one-year contract with Hearts and now the contract has ended. But I wish to play for Kotoko again before I quit the game,” he said on Fox FM.
Inkoom had a stint with Asante Kotoko and was a member of the 2008 squad that clinched the Ghana Premier League title. Subsequently, he made a move to the Swiss powerhouse, FC Basel, where he secured two league titles and the Swiss Cup.
On the international front, he achieved glory with the Ghanaian national team by winning the2009 FIFA U20 World Cup as part of the Black Satellites.
Ghanaian sensational winger Ernest Nuamah has earned a nomination for the 2023 CAF Young Player of the Year award.
This recognition comes in light of the 21-year-old’s outstanding contributions for both his club and the national team over the past year.
Nuamah delivered an exceptional season in the Danish Superliga while playing for FC Nordsjælland, where he notched an impressive 19 goals and provided 6 assists in 32 appearances.
Subsequently, he secured a move to the renowned French club, Olympique Lyonnais, during the summer, where he has already demonstrated his skills by scoring a goal in his first five appearances.
On the international stage, Nuamah has also left a significant mark. He made his debut for the Black Stars in June 2023 and managed to score a goal in each of his first two appearances.
Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the Ghana squad’s journey to the quarterfinals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Competing against nine other promising young talents, Nuamah’s performances over the past year make him a strong contender for the CAF Young Player of the Year award.

An inquest into the passing ofManchester United and England legend Sir Bobby Charlton revealed that he died from an accidental fall at a care home in Knutsford.
Sir Bobby, who was 86 at the time, passed away on October 21, triggering an outpouring of tributes from the football community.
The inquest, held at Cheshire Coroner’s Court, disclosed that Sir Bobby had been residing at The Willows nursing home in Knutsford, which specialises in dementia care, as reported by BBC Sport.
Jacqueline Devonish, senior coroner for Cheshire, determined that Sir Bobby’s death was accidental.
The inquiry revealed that he struck a window sill and possibly a radiator when he lost his balance while getting up from his chair.
Although Sir Bobby received a full-body examination after the fall, no visible injuries were observed by the staff, who also noted that his mobility appeared unaffected.
Paramedics were summoned to the care home when they later noticed swelling on Sir Bobby’s back, and he was transferred to a local hospital for evaluation before being moved to Macclesfield General.
Sir Bobby, who had been receiving respite care at The Willows since June, passed away five days after the fall.
Football clubs throughout England have held moments of silence in memory of Sir Bobby over the past 10 days, and a funeral service for the 1966 World Cup winner is scheduled to be held at Manchester Cathedral on November 13.
Manchester United also confirmed that over 80,000 fans have signed condolence books for Sir Bobby, who scored 249 goals during his illustrious 17-year playing career at Old Trafford.
Former Ghana international Baffour Gyan has given a detailed explanation of why his brother Asamoah Gyanwon his legal tussle with his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan.
The legal battle between Asamoah Gyan and Gifty Gyan, involving issues related to properties and their annulled marriage, has been resolved by the Accra High Court.
The court annulled the marriage based on Asamoah Gyan’s petition and other pieces of evidence presented during the case.
The court deemed Gifty’s early marriage in 2002 at the age of 17 as insufficient grounds for declaring the marriage void, upholding its validity.
However, as compensation to Gifty Gyan, the court awarded her a UK property, a gas station in Prampram, a 4-bedroom house in Spintex, which was purchased for her before their marriage in 2013, and two cars.
Additionally, a monthly maintenance fee of GH¢25,000 was granted to Gifty, while the request for alimony was denied.
Setting the record straight on Asempa FM, Baffour Gyan clarified that there was a misconception about the legal verdict.
He highlighted that it was Gifty who had been previously married, and Asamoah Gyan had initiated the case to annul that marriage.
Explaining why Asamoah Gyan was rather the victor, Baffour said, “My brother’s wife had already been married and he sent it to the court to annul it. We received the ruling to the effect that the lady deceived my brother.”
Baffour Gyan underscored that the properties in Gifty’s possession had originally been gifts from Asamoah Gyan, and the court affirmed her entitlement to retain them.
Additionally, he pointed out that Gifty’s legal representatives had initially sought a sum exceeding $1 million, but the court dismissed their demand.
“The properties in the lady’s possessions were gifts from Asamoah Gyan and the court asked that she keep it. Her lawyers had wanted $ 1 million and more but the court denied their request.”
He added, “Asamoah Gyan has been in contact with his children throughout this case and has been taking care of them so the GH¢25,000 a month in support for the children is no news.”
Renowned Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan, has shared his thoughts on the recent Accra High Court ruling regarding his prolonged marriage annulment case with his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan, now known as Gifty Oware.
In a Twitter post, Asamoah Gyan suggested that while his ex-wife was granted some of her requests, he also retained possession of some of his properties.
Gyan, in a reply to a post by a blogger, stated, “If I have 10pts and I keep quiet cos I’m matured, and you have 2 pts and you going find public sympathy, then it’s cool. You are very funny. This is deep so think about it”, Gyan tweeted.
On October 31, 2023, an Accra High Court issued a verdict in a lengthy three-year divorce dispute involving former Ghanaian international Asamoah Gyan.
The court ruled to dissolve the marriage, which had been established in 2013, between Gyan and Gifty. Additionally, the court provided instructions concerning the paternity of the three children born to the couple.
Gyan had previously contested his paternity, necessitating a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test, the results of which confirmed his biological relationship with the children.
Dennis Law, wrote of the paternity issue in their report: “Initially, Asamoah Gyan had denied paternity of their three children, seeking an annulment of their marriage. However, the court, in its decision on October 31, 2023, established that the three children are indeed the progeny of Asamoah Gyan.”
In connection with the dissolution of the marriage, further directives pertaining to the support of the children stipulate thatAsamoah Gyan is required to provide a monthly payment of 25,000 Ghana cedis to Gifty Gyan.
“This stipend is allocated for the upbringing and welfare of the three children, excluding expenses such as school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, and various other childcare-related costs,” the law firm added.
Musician and business tycoon Mzbel has stepped in to support her son, Aaron Adepa Amoah, also known as Okomfo Black, following widespread criticism from Ghanaians.
The 10-year-old had been under fire for his remarks denouncing God.
Mzbel’s defense of her son comes in response to the public backlash he faced after an interview in which Aaron Adepa Amoah expressed his views on the Christian faith, the concept of creation, and related topics.
In the interview, Adepa stated that he doesn’t believe that human beings were created by God but rather through the processes of science and human agency.
In a post that Mzbel made on her Instagram page, @mzbeldaily, which has since been deleted, she wrote:
“YES! We don’t believe in the existence of an Almighty God because we know that everything or anything that has life, no matter how big or small, is a God. That is why when we pour libation (pray), we acknowledge and honour all those energies (God).
“Our ancestors are dead, but their blood and spirit run through us; we are their DNA, so we honour them too.”

Mzbel also encouraged her extensive Instagram following to engage in introspection and contemplate matters of faith and religion in moments of solitude and tranquility.
She suggested that by doing so, they would find the answers they seek, underscoring the belief that all individuals possess divine qualities.
Manchester United will reportedly face a setback as goalkeeper Andre Onana has decided to join his Cameroonian national team for the AFCON tournament. This means he will miss several crucial fixtures for his club.
Previously, Onana had stepped away from international football due to a dispute with Cameroon’s head coach, Rigobert Song, resulting in his removal from the 2022 World Cup squad during the tournament in Qatar.
However, the two have resolved their differences, leading to Onana’s return to the national team.
Onana has already made appearances in the AFCON qualifier against Burundi in September and a friendly against Senegal during the October international break.
As per iNews, he has now given his consent to represent the Indomitable Lions in the continental tournament, set to commence on January 13 in the Ivory Coast.
If Cameroon performs well in the tournament and reaches the final, Manchester United will have to do without Onana’s services in four Premier League matches, two FA Cup ties, and a potential Carabao Cup semi-final.
Onana has been steadily settling into his new club and played a crucial role in United’s recent Champions League victory over FC Copenhagen, where he saved an injury-time penalty to secure three points.
He was one of the better performers in the 3-0 derby defeat toManchester City last weekend, too, and his efforts were further acknowledged when he came 23rd in the 2023 Ballon d’Or vote after a brilliant previous season with the Nerrazurri.

Barcelona is keeping a close eye on Mexican international Santiago Giménez, but they are fully aware that the competition for securing the striker’s services will be fierce.
According to a source cited by ESPN, Feyenoord, where Giménez currently plays, will demand a substantial transfer fee for the 22-year-old.
Giménez’s exceptional form this season, marked by 13 goals in 10 Eredivisie matches and an additional two in his sole Champions League appearance, a 3-1 victory over Lazio, has piqued the interest of several top European clubs, including Barcelona.
The source notes that Barcelona has been particularly impressed with how quickly Giménez has adapted to the European style of play.
Barcelona has dispatched multiple scouts to observe Giménez ever since he joined Feyenoord from Cruz Azul in 2022, and they have intensified their monitoring of him in recent weeks.
His knack for scoring goals has drawn favourable comparisons to Luis Suárez within the club.
Barcelona will continue to closely track Giménez in the months ahead, with the source indicating that he is a player they have in mind for the future.

Erik ten Hag expresses his unwavering confidence in his ability to reverseManchester United’s fortunes following a challenging start to the season.
Despite suffering their seventh defeat of the season in the recent derby against Manchester City, which occurred within just 14 games, the Dutchman reassures fans in his program notes for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Newcastle United that he firmly believes the team will recover.
“At Manchester United, every game involves high stakes,” Ten Hag wrote in the United Review.
“Every single day, there is pressure on everybody involved with this club, but those demands and standards are a challenge that we must always meet head-on.
“While this has not been the start of the season that we had all hoped for, I am certain that we have the talent and attitude as a collective to move in the right direction.
Chelsea is actively pursuing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as their top choice to address their scoring problems, as per Calciomercato.
The Premier League club, under the leadership of Mauricio Pochettino, is in search of a No. 9 and is exploring various options across Europe.
However, it’s reported that signing the 24-year-old Nigerian international would be a “dream” acquisition for Chelsea.
While Chelsea brought in Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal during the summer, the 22-year-old has only managed to score two goals in nine games.
This lack of consistent goal-scoring has prompted Chelsea to prioritise adding attacking reinforcements once the January transfer window opens.
Osimhen’s contract with Napoli is set to expire in the summer of 2025, and recent reports suggest that little progress has been made in negotiations for an extension.
This situation could work to Chelsea’s advantage if they decide to pursue him.
Additionally, Chelsea is looking to part ways with Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan at AS Roma, on a permanent basis.
Chelsea hopes that the funds generated from such a deal with Lukaku can contribute to covering Osimhen’s transfer fee, which is estimated to be around €120 million.
Osimhen has maintained his impressive form in Serie A this season, having scored six goals in eight league appearances.
However, when Martinez went on stage to collect his award, the French fans in the audience began to boo as his remarkable save from Randal Kolo Muani’s last-minute strike in the 2022 World Cup final was replayed on the screen.
To address this disrespectful behaviour, Didier Drogba, the former Chelsea star who was hosting the event, had to step in.
Drogba called on the fans to show some respect to the award winner and requested that they cease the heckling.
The lack of respect for Martinez was evident even before the ceremony.
As he entered the Théâtre du Chatelet with his wife, Amanda Gama, French fans could be heard jeering the goalkeeper.
Emiliano Martinez, who plays for Aston Villa, is set to return to action for his club on Sunday in a Premier League match against Nottingham Forest.
Majority Leader is set to present a Constitutional Instrument (CI) to Parliament, titled the “Representation of the People (Parliamentary Constituencies) (Amendment) Instrument, 2023.” This amendment is aimed at the establishment of an additional 25 constituencies, supplementing the existing 275 constituencies in the country.
The Electoral Commission (EC)had previously signalled its ongoing efforts to create new constituencies, including one in the Guan District. This process was scheduled to advance as Parliament reconvenes in October 2023.
Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, the Deputy Commissioner of the EC responsible for Corporate Services, provided these updates during an interview with TV3 on Monday, September 11, 2023.
“We are in the process of creating some new constituencies and Guan District is one of them. If not because parliament is in recess, we should have started the process in parliament,” Dr Bossman said.
Dr. Bossman disclosed that the Guan District is among the areas set to receive a new constituency as the Commission initiates the process of creating new constituencies for the 2024 elections.
The First Deputy Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, Ahmed Ibrahim, had accused the presidency of influencing the Electoral Commission (EC) to create 25 new constituencies ahead of the 2020 elections.
He alleged that the move to give the New Patriotic Party more seats as their stronghold will benefit the intended regions more, with the Ashanti Region obtaining 17 out of the 25 new constituencies to be created.
Founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International Church, Reverend Isaac Owusu-Bempah, delivered a message to the delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He encouraged them to place national interests at the forefront when selecting a flagbearer.
During a broadcast to his congregation, Reverend Owusu-Bempah emphasised the importance of not allowing monetary influences to sway their decisions.
Instead, he urged NPP delegates to carefully assess the track records of the candidates before making their choice.
He went on to advise them to take money from candidates if any are offered, as clearly it is Ghana’s money they’d be sharing.
“We are supporting you in prayers but as you go to the polls, think about Ghana and not what you can get into your pocket. What you can get into your pocket cannot take care of you for four years.
“So, whoever gives you money to buy your vote should be seen as a nation-wrecker. Remember, they want to use your brain like that of a child. They didn’t mind you when it was not an election but now that they need your votes, they want to bring you money.
“I am pleading with you; if you like, take the money but vote against them; if they curse you, it won’t affect you. I know the money they will give you is Ghana’s money,” he urged.
While failing to mention a specific candidate, Reverend Owusu-Bempah hinted that one amongst the four candidates vying for the flagbearership stands out in terms of track record and should be the choice of delegates.
“There is someone we know who can help this country; his records show that he can help the country. I beg you; we want the one who has a record of doing it before and not the one who says and is not able to deliver. So, if you are a delegate or listening to my voice think about the future of your children and the future of Ghana before you cast your vote.
“The fall or rise of the nation is in your hands so be vigilant and not intimidated. Vote for the one you believe can develop the nation. Now we don’t look at political parties anymore.Whether NPP or NDC we are looking for the person who is capable,” he stated.
In an earlier statement, Reverend Isaac Owusu-Bempah clarified that he had not made any prophecies or declarations suggesting that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was divinely anointed to assist the NPP in breaking the eight-year cycle.
He emphasised that some individuals had been circulating false claims, asserting that he had prophesied in favour of the vice president as God’s chosen candidate for the ruling party’s flagbearer position.
On Saturday, November 4, 2023, the NPP is scheduled to convene a national delegate congress to select a flagbearer for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
Former Member of Parliament for Suhum, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has disclosed that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has personally approached him and requested that he refrain from his criticisms ofNew Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong.
Opare-Ansah, who has recently been vocal in his critiques of Kennedy Agyapong, shared that this request for a ceasefire came directly from the vice president himself.
“Dr is not even happy when anyone in his team takes on another person in such a manner.
After that, he sent me a message that ‘Opare, cease fire’ because he doesn’t want that to be his style in this campaign,” he stated on the Monday, October 30, 2023, edition of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show.
During a recent interview on Wontumi FM, Opare-Ansah unleashed a tirade against Kennedy Agyapong, levelling accusations of bitterness against him.
Opare-Ansah contended that the decision of the Member of Parliament for Assin Central to vie for the NPP’s flagbearer position was driven by bitterness.
He claimed that this bitterness stemmed from Dr. Bawumia declining Kennedy Agyapong’s request for annual contracts worth US$500 million in exchange for his support.

Tragedy struck Badu, a community situated in the Tain District of the Bono Region, as heavy rainfall claimed the lives of five individuals.
These unfortunate fatalities occurred when a severe rainstorm tore off the roof of a classroom where they had sought shelter during the downpour on Monday, October 30, 2023.
Among the deceased, three have been identified as Osei Kwame (known as Patoo), aged 30, Mensah Hayford, aged 15, and Koo Prince, aged 18, while the remaining two victims remain unidentified.
Residents of the area reported that the victims were tragically pronounced dead at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital after the distressing incident.
According to eyewitnesses who recounted the harrowing tale to OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng, “Chiefs of Badu Football had organised a football game for the community’s youth.
However, heavy rain disrupted the game, prompting most of the participants to seek shelter in one of the classrooms at the Badu Roman Catholic Basic School.”
“While waiting for the rains to stop, the storm shook the foundations of the building and ripped off the roof. The people in the building vamoosed out of fear but some of them were crushed by the roof, leading to their deaths,” one of the residents, Richard Nana Poku, said.
Police in the area are currently investigating the incident.
