Israeli forces attacked a place where bombs are kept in the part of the West Bank that Israel has taken control of. They killed two Palestinians during the attack, according to statements from officials and emergency workers.
The Israeli military went into a refugee camp in the northern part of the West Bank to destroy a place where militant leaders were giving orders.
Bombs exploded and militants threw explosives at Israeli forces near Nour Shams camp, located about two miles east of Tulkarem.
The military found dozens of dangerous things used for making bombs.
The statement said that during the activity, the suspects shot guns and threw bombs at the forces. The forces defended themselves by shooting back with real bullets.
During a six-hour operation before dawn, two Palestinians were shot in the head and killed by live bullets fired by Israeli forces, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Palestinian health officials have named the two people who were killed as Osaid Abu Ali, aged 22, and Abd al-Rahman Abu Daghash, aged 32.
According to Reuters, they included a Hamas fighter who is associated with their armed group.
The Israeli army said a soldier was injured by pieces of a bullet.
The roads got really messed up when engineering vehicles were searching for explosives. They dug around and there was metal roofing and building rubble all over the place.
Around 13,500 Palestinian refugees are listed in the camp, says the UN. The camp is known for having many problems, such as a lack of jobs, too many people, and no proper sewage system.
Tensions have increased in the northern West Bank, causing more violence. Many people see this region as a test for Israel’s plan to remove itself from the occupied territory.
But Palestine says that Israel’s recent attacks are making their 56-year control of the West Bank even stronger, slowly weakening the Palestinian Authority government and not really stopping the fighting.
At least 190 Palestinians have died in the West Bank this year, as reported by The Associated Press.
Medical Aid for Palestinians, a non-profit organization in London, states that this year has been the most tragic for Palestinians in the region since the UN started keeping track in 2005.
Israel says that a lot of the people who were killed were fighters, and that 31 people were killed in Palestinian attacks on its soldiers this year.

Lucy Letby’s attempted murder trial to be determined today
Lucy Letby, the serial infant murderer, will find out today if she will face another trial for the few remaining allegations against her, as determined by the prosecutors.
The previous nurse who took care of new babies, aged 33, is now in prison for the rest of her life. She killed seven babies and attempted to kill six others about seven years ago.
The jury at her trial in Manchester Crown Court last month could not agree on a decision for six charges of attempted murder involving five children.
The Crown Prosecution Service will tell us today if they plan to have another trial or not.
Letby was found not guilty of trying to kill two people, but the jury could not decide if she tried to kill four babies.
They couldn’t make a decision on two charges of trying to kill another baby boy. However, they did find her guilty of one charge of attempted murder.
The nurse from Hereford says she didn’t do what she’s accused of, and she has officially filed a request to have her guilty verdict reviewed and changed.
The police are now looking at the records of about 4,000 babies who were treated in the special care units of two hospitals where Lucy Letby worked for five years.
The maternity unit in Cheshire noticed a big increase in the number of babies who suddenly got very sick or fainted when Letby was doing something wrong.
She was taken out of the group after two sets of triplets and another baby boy all passed away in June 2016.
Consultants were worried and spoke up to hospital bosses about Letby being there during the collapses.
But the nurse filed a complaint, which was resolved in her favor, and was supposed to come back to the unit in 2017.
However, the move did not happen because the hospital trust contacted the police soon after.
She got arrested at her house in July 2018 and officially accused in November.
Some experts are concerned that Letby may have harmed more people than she was found guilty of harming. -

VIDEO: Stonebwoy’s speech at #OccupyJulorbiHouse demo
On the night before the protest’s last day, Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy attended the #Occupy Julorbi demonstration.
He assured the audience at the protest that he was not representing a political party on Saturday.
According to him, he was there to solidarise with Ghanaians because “we are all suffering one way or the other.”
“Ghanaians are one people…If my brothers and sisters have come together and realized something is going on with which we are concerned, we all have to step in…I am not standing here in the name of NDC or NPP or any political party but I stand in solidarity with the Ghanaians because I am a Ghanaian,” he said.
“..I’m aware of what’s going on, and I know that if it’s for the best, it’s for all of us; if not, it spoils for all. If someone says I came here to avoid being bashed, I don’t care,” he headed.
He further urged the public to stop painting celebrities who choose not to attend such events with political overtones.
He admitted that the motorway, where he was involved in an accident, almost took his life.
“Some years ago, my left leg was amputated because of the motorway. You can tell I use titanium knee replacement.”
The protesters hit the streets for three days to demand improved governance and better living conditions.
On the inaugural day of the protest, approximately 50 demonstrators were apprehended by the police on the grounds that they had engaged in an unlawful assembly and violated court orders, as an injunction had been imposed on the protest. The organizers’ lawyers purportedly had been properly notified or served with the injunction.
Nevertheless, the organizers insisted that they had not received the injunction notification, a claim vehemently denied by the police.
The protesters were charged and subsequently released by the police to continue with their demonstration one day after the arrests.
Despite the police’s firm stance that the protesters could not proceed to the Jubilee House, a high-security area, they continued to provide security for the ongoing protest.
On the third day of the protest, there were still efforts by the demonstrators to gain access to the Jubilee House. However, the police blocked their attempts using barricades.

Lucy Letby to stand trial again in 2019 for attempted murder of baby girl
A court heard that Lucy Letby, who used to be a nurse, will have to go through another trial. She is being accused of trying to kill a baby girl.
A date for another trial has been tentatively scheduled for June of next year because the jury in her first trial couldn’t agree on a decision regarding six counts of trying to harm five children.
Letby, who is 33 years old, was given a life sentence after a jury found her guilty of killing seven babies and trying to kill six others at the Countess of Chester Hospital’s special care unit for newborns in 2015 and 2016.
It has been reported that the prosecution won’t ask for a new trial on the five counts of attempted murder that are still left.
The re-trial will not include the situations involving three baby girls known as Child H, Child J, and Child K, as well as two boys known as Child N and Child Q.
Today, at Manchester Crown Court, Nick Johnson, who represents the prosecution, stated that they plan to have a new trial for one of the charges, which is the attempted murder of Child K.
Letby, who is from Hereford, said she didn’t do anything wrong and filed an official request to challenge her guilty verdict at the Court of Appeal a few weeks ago.
The group of people who had to make a decision in her case, which included seven women and four men, could not agree on whether Letby tried to kill three baby girls, who were referred to as Child H, Child J, and Child K in the court papers. -

Brian May assists NASA in returning first asteroid sample
Brian May has once again shown why he is regarded as a rock legend. He is not just the Queen guitarist, but he is also an astrophysicist. He recently helped NASA bring back its first ever asteroid sample to Earth.
May expressed that he felt extremely proud to be a part of the team that gathered the sample from the asteroid Bennu.
Hello NASA people, fans of space, and lovers of asteroids. This is Brian May from the band Queen, and I am very proud to be a part of the OSIRIS-REx team, said the 76-year-old musician in a video on NASA TV.
The OSIRIS-REx spaceship passed close to Earth on Sunday, seven years after it was sent to space to gather samples from the near-Earth asteroid Bennu. In 2020, it took a sample from a really old asteroid that is over 4. 5 billion years old. Then in 2021, it started going back to Earth, specifically Utah.
May was really important in the mission. They took pictures from the spacecraft’s data that helped the leader and the team find a safe place to land and collect a sample.
In the video, May said sorry for not being with the team on the significant day.
“I am practicing for a Queen tour, but I miss you deeply as this valuable item is found,” he said.
“Today is a joyful day for the sample return mission, and I want to congratulate everyone who worked extremely hard on it. I especially want to highlight my dear friend Dante. ”
“He said, may God bless all of you. ”
After leaving the sample capsule in Utah, OSIRIS-REx is continuing its journey to study another asteroid, called Apophis, according to the space agency. -

OccupyJulorbiHouse demo: You are a coward and a hypocrite – DKB to Sarkodie
Renowned Ghanaian comedian, Derick Kobina Bonney, commonly known as DKB, has launched a scathing attack on Sarkodie, accusing him of hypocrisy in his stance regarding President Nana Akufo-Addo’s leadership.
DKB argues that despite Sarkodie’s reputation as a hardcore battle rapper and political critic, he seems hesitant to criticize the current government in a substantive manner.
DKB’s criticism centers on what he perceives as Sarkodie’s reluctance to enter the recording studio to produce a diss track targeting President Nana Akufo-Addo, akin to what he did during former President Mahama’s administration.
It is essential to note that Sarkodie is renowned for his lyrical skills and has not shied away from engaging in public disputes through his music.
For example, he addressed his former relationship with Yvonne Nelson, a well-known actress, in his song “Try Me.”
However, DKB contends that Sarkodie has been noticeably silent regarding President Nana Akufo-Addo.
It is unclear how artists and celebrities should approach political and social issues in light of DKB’s accusation of hypocrisy.
DKB asserts that Sarkodie’s reluctance to criticise the current administration suggests a double standard, despite the fact that Sarkodie has used his music to express his opinions and critique various aspects of Ghanaian society.
The following are some of the comments made by online users after watching the video.
@Kwesi_jon – So he is ……a politician parading as someone who cares for the people. The things and songs he was bold to say and release against @JDMahamahe’s not able to same under @NAkufoAddo. @sarkodie is a hypocrite and cares only for his selfish interests when we mistakenly thought he genuinely cared for the ordinary Ghanaian.

At least 3 armed assailants killed by Kosovo police during hour-long confrontation
The police in Kosovo said on Sunday that they shot and killed three people who had guns and caught another person after a gunfight in the village of Banjska in the northern part of Kosovo.
The conflict between the police and 30 armed men started shortly after an attack that killed one police officer and injured another. The police said that some shooting is happening close to a monastery in the village.
Kosovo police announced on Facebook that three gunmen were killed. They also arrested two gunmen and four suspects. The suspects were found with illegal radios and are believed to be connected to a terrorist group.
The police say that things are still tense, but there are fewer attacks on officers.
Officials previously said they discovered tools, vehicles, clothes, as well as weapons and bullets of different sizes at a house where the attackers were staying.
The Kosovo Police is asking criminal groups to give up and turn themselves in to the authorities. They are also asking citizens to help the police so that the situation can become safe and peaceful.
The situation just got worse in a region where there is often trouble. Kosovo has mostly Albanian people, but in the north, the village of Banjska has mostly Serbian people.
Kosovo broke away from Serbia and became independent in 2008. However, Serbia does not accept this and considers Kosovo as a separate state. The people of Kosovo who are Serbs see themselves as being from Serbia. They consider Belgrade to be their main city, instead of Pristina.
Veton Eljsani, a deputy commander of the Kosovo Police, said that there were people with guns and uniforms shooting at them and they were shooting back.
On Saturday night to Sunday morning, a group of border police officers saw two large trucks without license plates in the way of a bridge entrance in Banjska. Police went to the area.
According to N1, when police officers got to the place, they were met with opposition and there was shooting. Sadly, one police officer died and another got hurt during the shooting. The police in Kosovo said that they were attacked with many guns, as well as hand grenades and stun guns.
On Facebook, Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti called the shooting in Banjska a “terrorist attack” carried out by Serbian criminal gangs.
CNN has asked Serbia’s Foreign Ministry to provide a statement about the situation.
The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić, said that his country did not have anything to do with the fight. He said that the men who were killed were Serbs from Kosovo.
The Banjska monastery is being looked after by the Serbian Orthodox Church. They said things are peaceful again at the monastery and the police have taken control of the situation.
The Raška-Prizren Diocese wants everyone to know that everything is fine at the Banjska monastery right now. “The people with weapons who broke into the gate earlier today have gone away. Now, the Kosovo police and EULEX are at the entrance and inside the monastery’s courtyard. ”
On Sunday, Josep Borrell, who leads the foreign policy of the European Union, strongly criticized the attack and requested that the situation be calmed down.
“I strongly condemn the terrible attack carried out by a group of armed people on police officers in Banjska/Banjskë in the north of Kosovo. Sadly, one police officer lost their life,” he stated. “The people who did the wrong thing need to be held accountable and punished by the legal system. ”
The fighting near Banjska Monastery is putting more innocent lives in danger. He said that these attacks need to stop right away.
The EU mission in Kosovo called EULEX is currently present and in regular communication with the authorities and KFOR, which is a NATO-led international peacekeeping force in Kosovo, according to Borrell.
“He said that the EU and its member countries consistently ask all parties involved to calm down the situation in northern Kosovo. ”
Kosovo and Serbia have been having more problems in recent months. There were protests that turned violent in May because of controversial local elections. Many NATO peacekeepers were hurt during the fights.
People from Kosovo who are Serbian want more freedom and self-rule from the Albanian people who are the majority there. -

OccupyJulorbiHouse demo: Ola Michael disappointed at musicians for joining protest
Entertainment pundit Ola Michael has voiced his discontentment regarding Ghanaian musicians who participated in the recent #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest.
During a panel discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz on September 23, 2023, he articulated his perspective on the engagement of celebrities in protests and criticized what he interpreted as misaligned priorities.
“The easiest country to govern in this world is Ghana, so all these demonstrations where people go there to show their faces, is just not important. It won’t lead anywhere, it won’t bring any change.
“People will continue to be hungry because the person leading us is saying we shouldn’t talk about him, and who are you to discuss that?” Ola asked.
He expressed his dissatisfaction, particularly with musicians who joined the protest rather than concentrating on issues facing the business.
“For those musicians who went there, I am very disappointed in them. I wish they had not done that, You have very important issues regarding the music industry, and we are calling for you to be united around those issues for us to address them. But for that, you people won’t do it,” he said.
Prominent artists who attended included Pappy Kojo, Stonebwoy, Manifest, Efya Nokturnal, Cina Soul, Kwaw Kese, and several others.
During the concluding day of the three-day #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests, demonstrators made an attempt to breach a police barricade late into the night in a bid to march toward the presidential palace.
This effort persisted despite the unlawful arrests and police use of force that marked Day 1, when 49 protesters were apprehended and held for an extended period on charges of unlawful assembly. All of them were subsequently released on bail.
Day 2 and Day 3 transpired without any significant incidents, as the police established barricades on the primary road leading to the presidential palace, Jubilee House, even before the protesters initiated their march in that direction.
On Day 2, one section of the 37-Accra road was obstructed, while on the final day, both sides of the road were blocked, causing substantial disruptions to vehicular traffic for a significant portion of the day.

Philippines criticises China for installing floating barrier in the controversial South China Sea
The Philippines criticized China’s coast guard for putting up a “floating barrier” in a disputed part of the South China Sea. This barrier has stopped Filipino boats from entering and fishing in the area.
In a statement, a person named Jay Tarriela, who speaks for the Philippine coast guard, said that they found something called a floating barrier. This happened when the Philippine ships were doing a regular patrol on Friday. The barrier was about 300 meters long (984 feet).
The Philippine coast guard and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources are very mad at the China coast guard for putting up a barrier in the Southeast part of Bajo de Masinloc. This barrier stops Filipino fishing boats from going into the shoal and taking away their ability to fish and make money.
Tarriela posted pictures of a supposed floating barrier. He said that after a Philippine government ship arrived in the area, three Chinese coast guard boats and one Chinese maritime militia service boat installed the barrier.
The National Security Council of the Philippines announced on Monday that it will take necessary steps to remove barriers and ensure the safety and rights of the country’s fishermen in that specific area.
According to national security adviser Eduardo Año, the barriers being set up by China go against the Philippines’ right to fish in certain areas of the South China Sea, which was confirmed by a ruling from an international tribunal in 2016.
On Monday, Beijing explained its actions by saying that it has complete control over Huangyan Island and its surrounding waters, using the Chinese name for the disputed area. It accused the Filipino vessel of entering without permission.
“The Chinese Coast Guard followed the law and did what was needed to make the other boat go away. They showed professionalism in how they handled the situation,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin during a normal press briefing.
Filipino fishermen say that Chinese ships often put up barriers when they see many Filipino fishermen around.
Bajo de Masinloc, or Scarborough Shoal, is a small and important reef and good place for fishing. It is located 130 miles (200 kilometers) to the west of the Philippine island of Luzon.
The shoal called Huangyan Island by China is part of a group of islands and reefs in the South China Sea. There are arguments among different countries over who owns these areas.
In 2016, a court in The Hague decided that the Philippines won a major disagreement over the ocean. The decision meant that China could not legally say that they had the right to most of the South China Sea because of history.
China did not follow the decision made.
This happened a few days after the Philippine coast guard showed videos of lots of damaged and discolored coral. Because of this, officials blamed China for causing a lot of destruction in that area. China’s foreign ministry said that the allegations are not true and have no basis. -

Nigerian Nurse Association reveal that unregistered nurse treated Mohbad
The Lagos State Council of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has urged comprehensive inquiries into the passing of Afrobeat sensation Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Additionally, the association has emphasized that the individual who purportedly administered an injection to the deceased prior to his demise is not a registered nurse.
Mohbad, the 27-year-old Afrobeat star, passed away on September 12 under uncertain circumstances.
In the wake of his sudden demise, which has triggered extensive public outcry both online and offline, Nigerians have demanded a thorough investigation to unveil the circumstances surrounding the musician’s death.
On Monday, the police established a 19-member committee tasked with conducting a discreet investigation encompassing exhumation, autopsy, scene examination, medical reports, records of suspects, and statements from witnesses.
Furthermore, the nurse, regarded as a key suspect in the case, has been apprehended by the police.
In a statement signed by NANNM’s state secretary, Toba Odumosu, and sent to PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday, the association said preliminary investigations indicate that the individual reportedly taken into custody by the police for providing care to Mohbad is not a registered nurse.
The association said it is closely monitoring the situation with keen interest.”
It also stressed the importance of professionalism in reporting and conducting the investigation which has gained global attention.
The statement reads in part; “Our preliminary investigations indicate that the individual reportedly taken into custody by the police for providing care to Mohbad is not a registered nurse.
“We emphasise the critical need to verify the qualifications and professional status of individuals before labelling them as healthcare professionals.”
The association noted that it is regrettable that Nigeria’s healthcare system faces significant regulatory challenges, “leading to the presence of unqualified individuals performing medical roles they are not trained for.”
It said to be recognised as a nurse in Nigeria, one must complete a rigorous five-year Bachelor of Nursing Science programme at a university, followed by an additional year of internship.
“Alternatively, one can undergo training at an accredited School/College of Nursing and become registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
“We wish to clarify that the term ‘Auxiliary Nurse’ has no place within Nigeria’s healthcare system or its laws. An individual is either a qualified nurse or an unqualified individual performing tasks beyond their competence.”
The association also expressed their deepest condolences to the family and associates of the late musician, Mohbad, during this difficult time of grief.
“We fully support the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death and urge the relevant authorities to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice for him.”
The association called on the investigating authorities and the media to exercise caution and accuracy in their reporting during this investigation.
It said the association will not tolerate any misrepresentation of Nurses and the Nursing profession.
“We demand that all media outlets that inaccurately reported the arrest of a Nurse take immediate corrective action to rectify their stories.”

France to withdraw its troops from Niger by the end of 2023 – Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Sunday that France will withdraw its military from Niger by the end of 2023. This decision comes as the relationship between the two countries has been strained since a military junta took over Niger in July.
“We are stopping our military cooperation with the people in charge of Niger because they don’t want to fight terrorism anymore,” Macron said about the military leaders who took control of the northwest African country.
France does not accept or acknowledge Niger’s military leaders. They still consider Mohamed Bazoum, who was removed from power in the coup, as the only rightful leader of the country.
Macron said we are ending our “cooperation” because we don’t want to be involved in their internal politics and be controlled by the military group.
He said that the withdrawal will be planned and arranged in the weeks ahead.
“They will return in a well-organized way in the upcoming weeks and months, and we will work together with the rebels because we want this to happen peacefully,” stated Macron.
Niger’s military government said it is happy that France will remove its soldiers from the country. This was mentioned in a statement on Niger’s state television, Tele Sahel.
This Sunday, we are celebrating another progress towards Niger’s independence. French soldiers and the French representative will be departing Niger before the year ends, as mentioned in the statement. We do not want imperialist and neo-colonialist forces in our country anymore.
“We will continue to strongly oppose and confront any organization or system that tries to question or go against the best interests of our country. ”
France decided to send soldiers to Niger because it is a peaceful country in a troubled region with lots of political problems and terrorism. The soldiers are there to help fight terrorism. This information was reported by CNN.
About 1,500 soldiers are still present.
Macron said that by the end of 2023, there will be no more French soldiers in Niger.
CNN reported earlier this month that the United States might start taking its soldiers out of Niger soon. About half of the around 1,100 US troops in Niger may be removed from the country, according to two officials.
The president of France also mentioned that he has chosen to bring back the country’s ambassador to Niger, Sylvain Itte, to France.
Macron said that France has decided to bring back its ambassador. In a few hours, our ambassador and some diplomats are coming back to France.
Just over a week ago, Macron said the ambassador was being kept against their will at the French embassy and food could not be delivered to the embassy in Niamey, the capital.
After the military took over in July, they told Itte to leave the country. Later on, they canceled his permission to stay and told the police to kick him out.
But according to the French president, the diplomat stayed where they were, and the French government said again that they do not accept the junta’s power.
Earlier this month, the French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said that Itte is still working. She also mentioned that he will continue working for as long as we want him to. Moreover, she stated that Itte’s return was a decision made by Macron. -

Speaker of Canada’s House of Commons apologizes after praising war veteran from Ukraine
The speaker for Canada’s House of Commons expressed remorse for commemorating a Ukrainian soldier associated with a Nazi-affiliated faction during World War II.
Speaker Anthony Rota praised 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka during a speech on Friday. Hunka was recognized as both a Ukrainian and Canadian veteran during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the Canadian parliament.
The person speaking praised Hunka as a brave soldier who fought in the First Ukrainian Division. They said Hunka fought to protect Ukraine from the Russian attackers in the past, and still supports the military today.
“I recently found out more information that makes me feel sorry for my choice,” stated Rota in a message his office released on Sunday. He said, “I am very sorry to Jewish communities in Canada and around the world. ”
Many groups that support human rights and the Jewish community have criticized the acknowledgement, stating that Hunka was a part of a Nazi military group called the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS.
According to a statement from Jewish human rights organization B’nai Brith Canada, Hunka, who moved to Canada after being in the 14th Waffen SS, a Nazi group that supported Adolf Hitler during World War II, got a big round of applause from the members of Parliament and senators who were there.
The CEO of B’nai Brith Canada, Michael Mostyn, said in a statement that the parliament’s acknowledgement of Hunka is “extremely shocking. ”
We must not let history be distorted. Canadian soldiers fought and lost their lives in the battle to liberate the world from the cruel and oppressive actions of the Nazis,” Mostyn mentioned.
The 14th Waffen Grenadier Division was a group that was part of the Nazi SS organization. The International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg declared this organization a criminal group because they had done bad things during war, like committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.
B’nai Brith criticized the Ukrainian volunteers who joined the military unit for being extreme nationalists who wanted Ukraine to have only one ethnic group and supported the idea of removing other ethnic groups.
The human rights group wants parliament to say sorry.
Rota said he is fully responsible for recognizing Hunka, who he said comes from his voting area.
“I want to emphasize that before I spoke, nobody, not even my fellow parliamentarians or the Ukraine delegation, knew about my intention or the things I was going to say,” Rota explained. “I took this initiative by myself because someone from my area caught my attention. ” -

Sole survivor of suspected death cap mushroom poisoning released from hospital in Australia
The only person who survived after eating poisonous death cap mushrooms in Australia has been let out of the hospital after making an incredible recovery. This person’s story might be valuable to the police in figuring out exactly what occurred.
Ian Watkins, who is a 68-year-old reverend, became very sick in late July after eating a meal of beef wellington in a small town called Leongatha. The meal was cooked and served to him by Erin Patterson, according to Victoria Police.
Gail Patterson, who was 70 years old, and her sister Heather Wilkinson, who was 66 years old, died in the hospital. Gail’s husband, Don, who was also 70 years old, passed away a day later.
Watkins held on, very sick and possibly needing a liver transplant, but he got better enough to leave the hospital last Friday.
The spokesperson for Ian Wilkinson’s family said that he is getting better and making good progress in his recovery. The family also thanked the medical staff for taking care of him. “This important achievement brings great relief and gratitude to Ian and the whole Wilkinson family. ”
Patterson, who has not been accused of a crime, said she did nothing wrong. She told the local media that she didn’t know the mushrooms she used in the recipe were harmful.
People at the meal were Patterson’s ex-husband’s parents and her mother-in-law’s sister and husband.
I am really upset and sad to think that these mushrooms might have caused my loved ones to get sick. I want to make it clear that I had no intention of hurting these people that I cared about, said Patterson in a statement to the police, as reported by ABC.
She said she bought the mushrooms for the meal from two different stores.
Victoria Police said on Monday that they are still investigating the deaths.
When people found out about the investigation in early August, Detective Inspector Dean Thomas from the Victoria Police homicide squad said that Patterson was a suspect because she prepared the meal and was the only grown-up at the lunch who didn’t get sick.
Patterson’s guests showed signs of being poisoned by poisonous death cap mushrooms called Amanita phalloides, according to Thomas. However, there are no reports yet that show exactly what they ate.
He said that Patterson and her husband, Simon, have split up. Simon’s parents died after they had dinner together. But he also said that their relationship is still friendly.
We need to be open-minded about this situation. “It might not mean anything bad,” Thomas said back then. “But once more, we currently don’t have any information. four people arrived and three of them died, while another one is in critical condition, so we need to handle this situation.
Wilkinson, who is a reverend at Korumburra Baptist Church, is the only person who survived. He will provide important information about what might have occurred that evening.
His family thanked their community for their support but requested privacy even though many people are interested in the case.
This caring and support from everyone has been a strong source of comfort for Ian and his family, making us feel even more connected and caring in our community.
“We know people are interested in Ian getting better, but we ask everyone, including the media, to be thoughtful and respect the family’s wishes. ” -

The bull-running season helps Valencia’s economy a lot.
A study conducted in 2019 discovered that it resulted in the creation of over 3,000 job opportunities and generated €300 million by hosting nearly 10,000 events each year. -

Armenians of ethnicity start to flee occupied territory
The first group of Armenian people from Nagorno-Karabakh have come to Armenia, a few days after Azerbaijan took control of the area.
They came in right after the local officials said that they were going to relocate the people who lost their homes because of the fight.
Azerbaijan recently took control of an area that has around 120,000 Armenians living in it. They have stated that they want to bring these Armenians back into society as equal citizens.
Armenia has expressed concern that they could experience a situation where certain ethnic groups are forcefully removed or eradicated.
About 40 people were in the first group to go. Armenia promises to assist anyone who wants to leave, but has repeatedly blamed the Azerbaijani authorities for causing a large number of people to leave.
During a TV speech on Sunday, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashanyan said that unless Azerbaijan offered better living conditions and protection against ethnic cleansing, many people in the enclave would feel they have no choice but to leave their homeland.
He said again that his government was ready to warmly welcome our relatives.
But according to David Babayan, who advises the ethnic Armenian leader of Nagorno-Karabakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, he believes that almost everyone will leave.
He said that his people do not want to be a part of Azerbaijan. Almost all of them prefer to leave their historic lands.
“He told Reuters that the suffering of our less fortunate people will be remembered as a terrible thing for both the Armenian people and the entire civilized world. ”
“The people in charge of what happens to us will have to answer to God for the bad things they have done one day. ”
Nagorno-Karabakh is a hilly area in the South Caucasus. It is officially considered to be a part of Azerbaijan by other countries, however, it has been under the control of Armenians for the past 30 years.
Armenia and Russia have been supporting the enclave for a long time. Russia has had many soldiers there.
Five Russian peacekeepers, along with more than 200 ethnic Armenians and several Azerbaijani soldiers, were killed when Azerbaijan’s army attacked earlier this week.
Despite what Azerbaijan has said to the public, people are still worried about the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh. Only one delivery of 70 tonnes of food has been allowed since the separatists agreed to stop fighting and give up their weapons.
Leaders of the Armenian community say that many people do not have enough food or a place to live, and they are sleeping in basements, schools, or outside.
In his speech on TV, the leader of Armenia also suggested that Russia did not help them during the war.
His comments repeated the criticism that Moscow had basically given Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan – a claim that Russia’s foreign minister has called “absurd”.
Yerevan and Baku resolved the situation, Sergei Lavrov said at the UN General Assembly. It’s time to start building trust with each other. -

30 gunmen surrounded in monastery by Kosovo police
Security forces have gathered around 30 armed men after a police officer was killed in Kosovo, according to the country’s prime minister.
Albin Kurti told the group to give up because they were hiding in a monastery in the village of Banjska.
Mr Kurti accused Serbia of supporting a “terrorist attack” that also hurt another officer.
The peacekeeping force from Nato in Kosovo has soldiers in the region and is ready to act if needed.
People in Kosovo have been very upset and angry after there were fights and arguments following a local election that people disagreed about.
Talks arranged by the European Union to calm down the situation have stopped progressing.
Kosovo became independent in 2008, but Serbia, along with China and Russia, doesn’t accept it.
Many people from Serbia believe that this place is where their nation originated. Out of the 1. 8 million people in Kosovo, 92% are Albanian and only 6% are Serb.
The shooting on Sunday happened around 3:00 am (1:00 am in the morning for the rest of the world). The police went to Banjska, which is close to the border with Serbia, where people had set up a blockade.
The police officers were assaulted by people firing many different guns, along with throwing hand grenades and shooting missiles, according to what they said in a message.
“We can see people with weapons wearing uniforms. they are shooting at us and we are shooting back,” said Veton Elshan, a Kosovo police official, speaking to AFP news agency on the phone from Banjska.
The Serbia Orthodox Church reported that armed individuals attacked a monastery in a village called Leposavic. Many people from a Serbian city called Novi Sad were visiting the monastery at the time.
The Diocese of Raska-Prizren stated that priests and pilgrims went inside the temple of the monastery to keep themselves safe. They also mentioned that they sometimes heard gunfire. The prime minister blamed organized criminals for attacking our country, with political, financial, and logistical help from Belgrade.
Mr Kurti said that the people who committed the crime and the people who told them to do it would be punished.
Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani said that Serbian criminal gangs planned the incident. This incident attacked the law and order and went against Kosovo’s sovereignty.
She strongly criticized Serbia for attacking Kosovo, and asked its allies to help Kosovo in creating peace and stability.
Ms Osmani said that it is important for everyone to stay together and she believes in the police in Kosovo.
Serbia hasn’t said anything about what happened.
NATO peacekeepers in north Kosovo are prepared to help if needed and are actively trying to find a solution to the protests, according to KFOR.
The European Union’s head of foreign policy, Josep Borrell, strongly criticized a terrible attack and stated that those who are responsible for it should be punished by law.
This happened after the most recent discussions led by the EU fell apart last week. Borrell blamed Mr. Kurti for not establishing the association of municipalities with a majority of Serbs, which would give them more independence.
There was trouble in northern Kosovo in May because Kosovo Albanian mayors were put in charge of areas where most people are Serb. This happened because Serb residents chose not to participate in the local elections.
NATO sent 700 more soldiers to Kosovo to handle problems in the town of Zvecan after the elections.
About 30 peacekeepers from Nato and over 50 protesters from Serbia were injured during the resulting fights. -

Serial child killer Lucy Letby sends ‘fan mail’ after being incarcerated
People are sending letters of appreciation and admiration to Lucy Letby, who was a nurse that killed many children and has become the most famous child killer in recent British history.
Letby, who is 33 years old, has been found guilty of killing seven newborn babies and trying to murder six others. She will now spend the rest of her life in prison.
Now, some people in a Facebook group who think the neonatal nurse is not guilty are planning to send letters to the prison where she is being kept.
According to the Daily Mirror, someone in the Nurse Lucy Letby Group sent a letter to Lucy.
The person who wrote before said that they called HMP Low Newton, which is a jail in County Durham where Letby is being kept, to ask how they could get in touch with a prisoner.
Another person in the group said, “Please tell us if she answers. ” I might write as well.
Someone else wrote in a different post: ‘I will let her know in a letter that I feel really sorry for all the bad things that happened to her and her parents. I am also praying for them every day. ‘
In a different message about how to reach Lebty, someone else said: “I have always believed that Lucy Letby is not guilty. ”
‘I’m very happy that people have been trying to talk to her. ‘
The people in the group are separated based on the outcome of the trial. Some people are questioning the jurors, the evidence used in the case (which includes things like medical records, texts, diaries, and handwritten notes), and the continuing media coverage.
Some people think Letby is simply someone who kills children.
“Are you guys serious. Why would you send a letter to someone who caused the death of seven babies. ” an individual asked.
Another person suggested writing a letter to a murderer who specifically targets children.
“Wow, are there already people who admire serial killers. ” commented another person on Facebook. In a very disturbing and shocking case that affected the whole country, a trial lasting 10 months took place at Manchester Crown Court. During the trial, it was revealed how Letby committed multiple murders and attempted killings from June 2015 to June 2016.
Letby worked as a nurse in a special hospital in England. She took care of babies who were born too early or were not strong enough.
Jurors heard that Letby intentionally hurt newborns by giving them too much milk and injecting them with air and insulin.
According to prosecutors, some victims displayed signs of injuries caused by strong impacts.
In a note that Letby wrote by hand and which the police got, she said: ‘I intentionally caused their deaths because I feel inadequate in taking care of them. ‘
A prosecutor named Pascale Jones said in court that she used her knowledge in a bad way to cause harm, sadness, and death.
‘She deeply hurt the people who trusted her by betraying them with her actions. ‘
The jury could not decide if she was guilty of six charges for trying to kill someone, and they said she was not guilty of two charges for attempting murder.
Letby, who said she did not do anything wrong during the trial and wants to challenge the verdict, may have caused the death of three additional babies and attempted to harm another 15 babies, according to a doctor who testified in court.
The police are checking the records of about 4,000 babies who were in the hospitals where Letby worked as a nurse for five years. -

Businessman jailed over bomb plot to terrorise defence attorneys
A businessperson who was thought to be part of a group that illegally moves money around has been sent to prison for sending fake bombs to lawyers who work for the police.
Jonathan Nuttall, who is 50 years old, asked his personal driver to hire a former marine named Michael Broddle to secretly watch two lawyers from the National Crime Agency (NCA), Andrew Sutcliffe KC and Anne Jeavons.
According to a court, he planned a scheme in which Broddle placed devices with Mr Sutcliffe’s name on them in London’s legal district in 2021.
Someone left one thing near a bench, and another thing outside the offices where Mr. Sutcliffe and Ms. Jeavons work
The first item, discovered by a porter, was determined to possibly be a bomb because it had a smoke grenade inside.
The second thing or plan was not going to work, but a smoke bomb was used instead to create a lot of fear or panic.
The lawyers represented the NCA (National Crime Agency) when they tried to take away £1. 4 million of belongings from him in a legal case at the High Court.
In 2019, it was agreed in court that Amanda, the wife, would pay £1. 4 million to the NCA. This settlement did not involve admitting any guilt.
She borrowed money to pay for the agreement, but the NCA did not want to take the cash because they were worried it may have come from illegal activities.
So, the agency wanted to take back Nuttall’s fancy house called Embley Manor in Hampshire.
The judge, Simon Mayo KC, sentenced Nuttall to eight years and two months in jail. He described the attack as malicious, bold, and very serious towards the people involved in the justice system. You were supposed to disrupt the justice system.
I am completely certain that you wanted to cause serious harm through your planned actions.
It is very obvious that if those devices were left behind, many people would get scared and things would become very chaotic.
Mr Sutcliffe said in court that he was very surprised to be targeted in a way similar to how the Mafia operates, and he had never heard of anyone trying to disrupt a legal case in the UK like this before.
He said he was very worried and upset that his family was being watched.
Ms Jeavons said she was very upset and scared by a campaign that had a big effect on her and her family.
Nuttall and his driver, Michael Sode, aged 59, were found guilty of planning with Broddle, aged 47, to put an article somewhere on purpose.
Nuttall was found guilty of not following a notice, and Sode was also found guilty of a similar charge.
Sode got put in prison for six and a half years, while Broddle got put in prison for seven years. -

Karabakh battle remnants displayed as relief arrives slowly
Azerbaijan’s army showed off the big weapons they took from Nagorno-Karabakh, while people are being told that many civilians don’t have a place to live after the Armenian separatists gave up.
Tanks, guns, and RPGs were shown to the BBC. This was the first time journalists were allowed access since separatists agreed to give up their weapons this week.
Armenian leaders of a specific ethnic group are reporting that many people are without access to food or a place to live.
Only one delivery of 70 tons of food was allowed.
The group of vehicles from the International Red Cross was the first to arrive in the area that both sides are arguing about, ever since Azerbaijan took control of it in a very quick military movement five days ago. Russia has given aid, but we don’t know how much.
Nagorno-Karabakh is a hilly place in the South Caucasus. It is officially considered part of Azerbaijan by the world, but for the past 30 years, a lot of it has been under the control of Armenians who live there.
On Saturday, Armenia asked the UN to send a team to Nagorno-Karabakh to watch over the rights of Armenian people. They believe that their lives are in danger.
Azerbaijan says it is not guilty and wants to make the Armenian people who live there equal citizens of the country again.
Around 200 Armenian people, including 10 ordinary people, lost their lives when Azerbaijan’s military entered the area earlier this week.
Now, thousands of people who have been forced to leave their villages and are no longer with their families are sleeping in tents or outside near the airport in the main city of Stepanakert, which Azerbaijan refers to as Khankendi. These details were shared by officials in Karabakh.
The airport is close to where Russian peacekeepers stay, and five of these peacekeepers died during the fighting.
On Saturday, Azerbaijan announced that it is cooperating with Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh to take away weapons from ethnic Armenian forces. This was an important condition for Azerbaijan to agree to a ceasefire.
In the outdoor area of a military headquarters in Susa, which is located close to the main city of the region, Azeri military officials displayed weapons that were surrendered by separatists and showed their pride in doing so.
The collection included a tank that looked like a T-72, some armored vehicles called BMP-2, guns, rifles, protective clothing, and explosives called mines. The BBC believes that the space covered was the same as half of a soccer field.
The defense ministry of Russia said they have given away six vehicles with armor, over 800 guns, and about 5,000 ammunition units up until now.
We don’t know what will happen to the 120,000 Armenian people in Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan wants to bring the region back together and a official from Azerbaijan told the BBC that nobody is forcing anyone to leave.
“He said that if we didn’t care about innocent people, like civilians, women, and children, we would have just gone into Khankendi. ”
Another person in authority said that the army had set up places for refugees to stay outside of Karabakh, and these places were ready to welcome people. However, both sides don’t trust each other and some Armenians might not want to leave.
Azerbaijan has informed the UN that it will consider Karabakh Armenians to be treated as equal individuals. But now, it is up to the people of Azerbaijan to decide their future.
It says that if Karabakh fighters give up their weapons, they can leave for Armenia if they want to, and they won’t face punishment.Armenia has created places to shelter many people, but the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, prefers that they stay unless it is necessary for them to leave.
Many people in Stepanakert have said to the BBC that they are probably going to decide to leave.
I don’t know anybody who wants to stay in this place. I know some elderly people who are related to me and they lost their sons in past wars. They would rather die in this place, journalist Siranush Sargsyan said.
But for many people, especially those in my generation, this is already the fourth war they have experienced.
US Senator Gary Peters, who is leading a group of politicians to the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, stated that the people living in Nagorno-Karabakh are extremely scared. He also requested the formation of a team of international observers to help monitor the situation.
“He said that it is important for the world to know everything that is happening in that place. ” The Azerbaijani government says there is nothing to see or worry about. But if that’s true, we should let international observers come and see for themselves.
Areas where the BBC went appeared to have no people. Only some people like police, soldiers, and a few construction workers were visible.
The Russian peacekeepers that the BBC saw did not smile, and they seemed serious. However, up to now, there hasn’t been any serious violence since the surrender. -

We are not dumb, we have energy and will keep protesting – Ama Governor
Ghanaian social media influencer Elomi Ababio, more commonly referred to as Ama Governor, has become part of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests and has criticized the current government for the prevailing hardships in the country.
Speaking to Joy News, she called on the government to address the pressing issues that have long plagued the nation, emphasising that the youth will not stop protesting until things change.
Expressing her frustration, she lamented that despite having four sources of income, she still struggles to take public transportation. “I have been working for 7 years, but there is nothing to show for it, the government should give us a break”
Making reference to her refusal to be called to the bar, “she said the one that I have worked the hardest for, my law career gets blocked by an anonymous petition, questioning the human rights law in the country.
“We are not dumb, we are suffering ,we need jobs “she lamented
Also citing the recent scandal around Cecilia Dapaah, who is currently under investigation by the OSP for corruption and corruption-related offences after two of her houses helps were charged for stealing more than $1 million, €300,000 in cash and other valuable items from her residence at Abelemkpe.
According to Ama Govenor, instead of finding the source of the alleged stolen funds, govt is rather applauding Cecilia Dapaah for her services.
“Look at the amount of money that was found in our madam’s house, yet what did they do? They thanked her for her services and let her go” she said ,adding that “according to the constitution, if you are in that kind of position, you are to declare all assets ,so later if you are in possession of an amount of money, you can be questioned “
She demanded that things must change in the country.
The OccupyJulorbiHouse protest has gained significant traction in recent weeks, drawing attention from various segments of society. Its primary goal is to advocate for better governance and urge the country’s leadership to address the pressing issues that have long plagued the nation. Citizens have been coming together, demanding reforms in areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic policies.

Kosovo shooting claims life of police officer
A police officer was shot and killed, and another officer was injured in an incident that happened in Kosovo, a place near Serbia.
Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, said that the attack in the village of Banjska in Leposavic was carried out by skilled individuals using powerful weapons. The situation is still happening, Mr.
There has been a lot of anger and fighting in Kosovo, especially after a local election in May that many people are arguing about.
The talks led by the European Union to bring stability to the situation are not making progress.
Kosovo said they were their own country in 2008, but Serbia, China, and Russia don’t agree with this.
A lot of Serbs think it is where their nation started. Out of the 1. 8 million people living in Kosovo, 92% are Albanian and only 6% are Serbian.
The shooting on Sunday occurred at around 3:00 am. The police had gone to Banjska, a place near the border with Serbia, in response to a reported blockade.
Police officers were violently assaulted by people using many different weapons, such as guns, grenades, and missiles that are fired from the shoulder, as mentioned in an official statement.
Why is there a lot of fighting happening in Kosovo.
The Prime Minister Kurti said that our country is being attacked by organized crime groups that are getting help from Belgrade. He also said that the people who committed the crimes and the ones who told them what to do will be punished.
Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani said that the event, which she believes was planned by Serbian criminals, was an assault on the enforcement of laws and the independence of the Republic of Kosovo.
She strongly criticized Serbia for being aggressively towards Kosovo and asked its allies to help Kosovo establish law and order.
Ms Osmani asked people to stay together and showed that she believes in Kosovo’s police.
Serbia has not said anything about the event.
There was trouble in northern Kosovo in May because ethnic Albanian mayors were put in charge of mainly Serbian areas. This happened because the Serbian residents chose not to participate in the local elections.
NATO sent 700 more soldiers to Kosovo to handle the trouble in the town of Zvecan after the elections.
About 30 Nato peacekeepers and over 50 Serb protesters were injured during the clashes that followed.
The most recent discussions led by the EU ended last week without reaching an agreement. The EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, blamed Mr. Kurti for not establishing the association of municipalities where Serbs are the majority, which would have given them more control over their own affairs. -

Durham University’s solar vehicle competes in outback race in Australia
A group of students created a car that runs on solar power. This car will participate in a long-distance race in the Australian outback, covering 3,000km (1,864 miles).
The team from Durham University will participate in a competition with a car that has three wheels. The car was designed by over 50 students who spent a total of 100,000 hours working on it at the engineering society of the university.
It can create enough power to make a vehicle go faster than 75 km/h (47mph).
Professor David Sims-Williams, the faculty advisor, said that the project was a fantastic chance to turn ideas into reality.
“He said that in order to succeed, we need to come up with creative and daring plans that not only look good on paper but also practical in reality. ”
The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge begins in Darwin on October 22nd and ends in Adelaide five days later. The cars are expected to complete the course in 50 hours.
Durham’s car will compete in the Challenger Class, where cars initially have 10% of their energy stored in batteries and the rest is generated from sunlight.
The solar panel is not very big and can only provide about half the power of a hairdryer. Because of this, people have had to create vehicles that use less energy.
The car, which is called DUSC23, is crafted with light and strong materials called carbon fiber and Kevlar. It weighs about 170kg (374 lb).
The university said that an in-wheel motor doesn’t require a gearbox or other mechanical parts, and this makes it more efficient.
Mitch Flegg, who is in charge of sponsors for Serica Energy, said that the company was really impressed with the great teamwork and clever ideas from the engineers and scientists at Durham.
He said they had overcome big challenges to design and build this special vehicle from the beginning, following very precise specifications.
Bridgestone North said it wanted to help with new ideas and making transportation more eco-friendly. -

The police said the doctor in charge of examining bodies has been told and they will do tests on the body at a hospital in Sligo.
Authorities are asking for people who saw something to provide information, and the police are asking the person driving the car to step forward.
They also want people who have videos, like dash cam footage, from Atlantic Way and Sea Road when the crash happened to share it with them. -

US to supply Ukraine with more long-range missiles ‘used in Black Sea fleet attack’
Reports suggest that the US intends to supply Ukraine with formidable long-range missiles similar to those deployed in the recent assault on the Black Sea Fleet.
This would assist Volodymyr Zelensky’s soldiers in targeting and hitting more places like command centers and hubs in Russia’s front lines.
Yesterday, a missile from Ukraine hit the main building of Russia’s Black Sea navy in the port of Sevastopol in Crimea. This attack caused the death of nine individuals.
A person from the Ukrainian military told the BBC that the attack used Storm Shadow missiles, which are a type of weapon system supplied by Britain and France.
These missiles can go as far as 150 miles, while the GPS rockets called GMLRS that Ukraine uses can only travel about 43 miles.
NBC News says that an anonymous US government official mentioned that President Joe Biden promised to give a few ATACMS missiles to the Ukrainian leader.
The White House is where the two men met last Thursday.
A Russian admiral was badly hurt when a missile hit the navy headquarters, causing the death of nine people. -

Woman detained as police investigate three alleged poisoning fatalities
A woman has been taken into custody because the police suspect she gave someone a harmful substance. The police are investigating whether this substance caused three people to die.
The police are trying to find out what happened to three people who died in South Bank, near Middlesbrough. The people who passed away are named Kevin Conway, Stephanie Alderson, and Kathleen Broomfield. The incidents occurred between July and September of this year.
A 43-year-old woman has been taken into custody because the police believe she gave a harmful substance to three people that caused their deaths.
Two men who are both 47 years old, along with a 39-year-old woman, have been arrested for possibly committing the same crime related to Ms Broomfield’s death.
The police said that all four people are still out of jail while the investigations are continuing.
Mr Conway was found dead at a house on Ajax Way on July 15.
His sister, Claire, said: ‘Kevin was loved by many as a son, father, brother, and friend to all who knew him. ‘ I can’t explain how sad I am that he passed away suddenly.
On Monday, Ms Alderson’s body was discovered at a house on Ajax Way.
Stephanie’s mom, Glennis, said: ‘Stephanie was a beloved daughter who will be really missed. ‘
On Tuesday, the police received a call because Ms Broomfield had unexpectedly died at a house in South Court.
Her brother Paul said that there are no goodbyes between us. No matter where you are, you will always hold a special place in our hearts.
A spokesperson from the Cleveland Police said: ‘There have been three deaths in the South Bank area within the past three months. Police are currently looking into whether there is any connection between the deaths of a man and two women. ‘
Right now, the police are still investigating the deaths and are unsure of the reasons. They are waiting for more tests to be done in order to figure out how the individuals died. -

Domelevo supports Kissi Agyebeng in Cecilia Dapaah case
Former Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo, has voiced his dissent against those advocating for Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng to abandon his anti-corruption endeavors amid criticism from government officials.
Domelevo believes it is inappropriate for individuals to propose that the Special Prosecutor should relinquish his pursuit of investigating the misappropriation of funds and assets involving former Minister of Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
He emphasized that it is a constitutional obligation for the government to take measures against corrupt practices and instances of office abuse, as stipulated in the constitutional policies of the state.
He further elaborated that the Special Prosecutor assumes a crucial role in ensuring that, even if complete eradication of corruption, as mandated by the constitution, proves unattainable, it is at least substantially reduced to its minimal level.
“So if he [Special Prosecutor] has difficulties and they say he should just stop it, what happens if a different person comes and he also has difficulties then we leave it like that, no,” he said on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday.
Mr Domelevo stressed that it is essential to support the Office of the Special Prosecutor in his mission to fight against corruption and corruption-related activities because he is not just fighting it for himself but also making financial savings for the country.
“So we should rather be resolved in helping him to be successful,” he said.
Regarding the practice of journalists obtaining court documents and publicizing them in Madam Dapaah’s case, the former Auditor General conveyed his preference for concluding investigations before disseminating comprehensive information.
He clarified that in the realm of audits, initial findings may appear severe, but as investigations advance, issues can be alleviated or resolved.
Mr. Domelevo proposed that the law should distinguish between information accessible during an ongoing investigation and information available after charges have been formally filed.
He held the belief that once the prosecution of Madam Dapaah commences, “the court may dismiss the charges against her, depending on the defenses she presents.”

Foreign minister of Russia calls West ’empire of lies’
Moscow responded on Saturday after a week of discussions about Russia’s war in Ukraine at the UN General Assembly. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke to the delegates and the international press, criticizing the West and calling it an “empire of lies. ”
Lavrov said that many speakers before him have talked about how our planet is changing and a new world order is starting to form.
The future is being shaped by a fight between the majority of the world who want a fairer sharing of wealth and cultural differences, and a small group using neocolonial tactics to stay in power.
Lavrov wouldn’t have been the first person this week to say that old ways of governing the world are slowing down progress on fair treatment for the environment and the economy. But his main concern was about the Western supporters of Ukraine and NATO – a group of countries that came together after World War II to protect Western nations from the Soviet Union.
As the war between Russia and Ukraine carries on, and Western countries like the US and UK provide military aid to Kyiv, Lavrov cautioned that he sees them as being “in a direct war” with Russia.
Lavrov said that we can call this a mix of different types of warfare, but the fact remains the same. He also added that they are actively fighting against us, using the Ukrainians as tools.
Lavrov rejected a peace plan suggested by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky because he believed it couldn’t work.
The plan does not include giving Ukrainian land to Russia or giving up on Kyiv’s attempts to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which are two issues that Moscow disagrees on.
The Russian Foreign Minister also said that Russia would not go back to the Black Sea grain deal because they felt they had been tricked.
Lavrov said the reason we left the deal was that all the things promised to us were lies.
Russia stopped following the agreement made by the UN in July. They had been saying for a while that they were not able to sell enough of their own food. The previously cancelled agreement enabled Ukraine to send grain overseas using ships, despite Russia’s efforts to block their access. This was important because Ukraine needed to sell grain to international markets.
The UN was formed in the 1940s and it still reflects an older time. The five permanent members of the UN Security Council have more power than they should. However, Russia is one of the five powerful countries known as the P5. Russia has gained a lot from the current system, particularly by blocking decisions concerning its conflict in Ukraine.
Ukraine wants to make changes to the UN. They believe that Russia should lose its power to veto decisions and get kicked out of the organization. Ukraine thinks Russia broke an important rule by taking over part of another country’s land. -

Ofankor: Three-story building under construction collapses
On Saturday, September 23, a three-story building that was under construction behind Ofankor market near Asofan suddenly collapsed, triggering uncertainty about the cause, though some sources attribute it to the heavy rains.
Fortunately, there were no reported casualties in the incident.
Reportedly, one of the laborers on the construction site noticed signs of an impending collapse and promptly alerted everyone, ensuring a safe evacuation.
The Ghana National Fire Service‘s Public Relations Department has initiated an investigation into the collapse’s cause, but the presence of a valid building permit remains unconfirmed.
ADO1 Alex King Nartey, the spokesperson for the GNFS, expressed reservations regarding the quality of materials employed in the construction process.
“The tenants said there was no one trapped in the building. They said for about six months now, no work has been going on in the building. But then, when we talked to a neighbour who said there was someone plastering and when he figured out that the building was about to collapse, he came out and called people out. So it’s contradictory, I think the tenants are being economical with the truth obviously to protect their landlady” he stated.
Nartey added that “the actual cause of the collapse has not been established, but I doubt if proper building materials were used or precautions were adhered to. The tenants were attributing it to yesterday’s rains, but that shouldn’t be the case of bringing a whole building down.”

Australia to experience high heat and fire this summer – Australia’s weather agency
Australia is experiencing hot weather and fires during early spring. This is causing concerns about a very destructive summer.
This past weekend, over 20 runners in the Sydney Marathon had to go to the hospital because of a very hot weather. Ski resorts, like Perisher which is the biggest one in the country, have closed early because there isn’t enough snow. This is because Australia has just had its warmest winter ever recorded since 1910.
Then, just recently, many uncontrollable fires started in the country, with over 60 burning in the heavily populated state of New South Wales.
These signs are not good for what many areas of the country can expect as spring turns into summer. Climate scientists are warning us about the combination of natural climate events like El Niño with human-caused global warming.
David Bowman, a professor at the University of Tasmania, Australia, said that we are in a very serious situation. “The climate change monster is awake and El Niño means it is furious,” he said to CNN.
Australia’s weather agency, the Bureau of Meteorology, recently declared the start of El Niño. El Niño is a natural pattern that comes from the Pacific Ocean and usually brings hot and dry weather to Australia, especially in the eastern areas.
In addition to El Niño, there is another change in the climate that increases the chances of hot weather and lack of rainfall. The positive Indian Ocean Dipole is a weather pattern like El Niño, but it comes from the Indian Ocean. It can also affect the weather in Australia just like El Niño does.
This “double punch” is very unlucky, said Bowman. Global heating is happening because we keep burning fossil fuels which warm up our planet. This is making extreme weather more likely.
“We are already witnessing severe and unusual weather in certain areas of the continent, especially prolonged periods of heat,” Karl Braganza, the head of climate monitoring at BOM, stated during a phone call with reporters on Tuesday. Additionally, Braganza mentioned the occurrence of devastating fires.
He asked Australians to get ready for a hot summer and be aware of the risks of fires.
People in Australia are very worried because they still remember the terrible fires that happened in 2019 to 2020, which were the worst in many years. The fires destroyed a very large area of land, about the size of 10 million football fields. They caused the deaths of many people and a huge number of animals, reaching more than a billion.
However, things are not the same this year. The period leading up to the Black Summer fires was very dry for three years, making the landscapes prone to burning for a long time. However, the recent years in Australia have been wet because of a weather pattern called La Niña, which is the opposite of El Niño.
However, experts warned CNN that it’s not time to relax or be satisfied. Robb Webb, CEO of the National Council for fire and emergency services (AFAC), said that even though a bushfire season as widespread as the Black Summer is unlikely to happen again, it doesn’t mean that the upcoming fire season can’t be dangerous.
The fire outlook report from AFAC, which was released last month, said that there is a higher chance of fire in many areas of the country. This is because the plants that grew during the rainy years are becoming dry quickly.
Bowman explained that when there are long periods of intense heat, it can cause dry landscapes to break. This means that all the healthy plants and vegetation can quickly become very dry and flammable. A mixture of very hot weather and strong wind could make fires very intense and seem like they appear suddenly.
Australians should also expect hot temperatures, in addition to fire. Braganza said that this summer will be hotter than usual and hotter than the past three years.
The temperatures are very high and are already setting new records in the area. On Wednesday, it was very hot at Sydney airport. The temperature reached 35. 9 degrees Celsius, which is 97 degrees Fahrenheit. This was the hottest temperature ever recorded for the month of September. In September, the typical temperature in Sydney is about 20 degrees Celsius (or 68 degrees Fahrenheit).
We don’t know if the summer heat will be very high like never before.
“Each El Niño is unique,” mentioned Andrea Taschetto, a climate expert at the University of New South Wales. This variability makes it difficult to accurately determine the extent of the heat.
However, it is likely that this summer will be the hottest ever, according to what she said.
Some people are more careful. Jason Evans, who is a professor at the University of New South Wales and studies climate, said that although the unusually hot winter is worrisome for extreme heat this summer, he believes that the several years of heavy rain make it less probable for us to see record-breaking temperatures. However, the outcome will be determined by the level of dryness in the upcoming months, he mentioned.
He told CNN that it is clear that climate change is causing extreme weather events to become more severe. He said that extreme heat is getting worse. This is making droughts and heavy rain even worse too.
“According to Bowman, climate change is now becoming the main focus. ” The past is not a good way to predict what will happen in the future. Be prepared for things that you did not anticipate or expect. -

GWCL announces Kpong water supply interruption; details affected areas
The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has officially announced a temporary disruption in water supply originating from the Kpong water treatment plant. This interruption is scheduled to occur from Sunday, September 24, through Thursday, September 28, 2023.
The purpose of this interruption is to facilitate the necessary rehabilitation of the primary transmission pipeline that connects the Kpong treatment facility to the eastern sector of Accra.
Residents in the following areas should take note of the impending disruption: Gbetsile, Afienya, Zenu, Prampram, Mataheko, Katamanso, Dawhenya, Sakumono, Batsonaa, Klagon, Tema Township, Adjei Kojo, Borteyman, Santeo, and the surrounding vicinities.
Below is the statement from GWCL
As part of efforts to rehabilitate the main transmission pipeline from the Kpong Treatment Plant to the eastern part of Accra, the Management of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) wishes to bring to the notice of the public, especially our valued customers being served by the Kpong Treatment Plant, that there will be an interruption in water supply from Sunday 24th September to Thursday 28th September, 2023 to enable engineers of GWCL work on the transmission pipeline.
In April 2021, the GWCL announced to the public, that the main 42-inch transmission pipeline was weak and as a result gave way frequently due to the high volumes and pressure in the pipeline thereby making the company lose a lot of water and revenue.
The works involved in changing the pipeline is capital intensive, therefore, Management has resolved to change the weak portions of the line to reduce cost and to maintain the integrity of the transmission pipeline. This repair work will also reduce the inconvenience of frequent interruption of supply to customers and to ensure a long-term reliability of water supply.
Areas to be affected:
The areas that will be affected by this exercise include Gbetsile, Afienya, Zenu, Prampram, Mataheko, Katamanso, Dawhenya, Sakumono, Batsonaa, Klagon, Tema Township, Adjei Kojo, Borteyman, Santeo and surrounding areas.
Management is therefore entreating customers in the above-stated areas to store enough water during the period in which the works will be carried out. The public and essential service providers are entreated to contact the following numbers for enquiries and alternative supply: 0800 40000 (Toll Free on Vodafone Lines) 0302 2218240, 0207385089, 0207385090 and via Whatsapp lines: 0555123393 & 0555155524.
Management also assures customers that water supply will resume as soon as the works are completed. The inconvenience this may cause is deeply regretted.

Nagorno-Karabakh humanitarian aid delivered
Officials said that on Saturday, a Red Cross group delivered essential supplies to Nagorno-Karabakh. This was the first delivery of aid since Azerbaijan’s attack ended with a ceasefire facilitated by Russia.
The group of vehicles carried about 70,000 kilograms of supplies like wheat flour, salt, dried yeast, and sunflower oil for people in need. The information was shared by the International Committee of the Red Cross on X (previously called Twitter).
The help was taken through the Lachin corridor, which is the only road that connects Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, according to the ICRC.
Since December 2022, Azerbaijan has blocked the road, so now people and businesses can’t use it.
The ICRC said that they helped 17 injured people escape from the fighting. They also gave medicine and bags for bodies to help the people in need.
The ICRC said that because there are many people in need, they are sending more people there who specialize in health, forensics, protection, and cleaning up weapons.
Nagorno-Karabakh, also called Artsakh by Armenians, is an area in the Caucasus Mountains that is surrounded by Azerbaijan.
Nagorno-Karabakh is considered part of Azerbaijan by many countries, but it has about 120,000 Armenians living there who make up most of the population and don’t agree with Azerbaijani control.
It has led to a lot of fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan for the past 30 years.
Even though there are Russian peacekeepers in the area, there has been a lot of tension in the region for many months.
In December, soldiers from Azerbaijan closed off the Lachin corridor, which is the only road that connects Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia. This blockade stopped the delivery of food to the approximately 120,000 people living there.
Over 200 people died and more than 400 others were injured in a military operation led by Azerbaijan this week. The defense ministry of Azerbaijan declared it as an “anti-terror” campaign in the area.
Russia has sent 50 tons of help, including food and basic things that people need, to Stepanakert. Stepanakert is the capital of the region. This news was reported by the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti on Saturday.
US Senator Gary Peters, who is currently in Armenia leading a group of American lawmakers, said he saw the blockade at the Lachin corridor along with the US ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien and the governor of Armenia’s Syunik province, Robert Ghukasyan.
On Saturday, Peters spoke to reporters and said that he has spoken to many people who are very worried about their family members and what happened to them.
“They are aware that they have been going through a hard time for several months due to the blockade. They have been facing shortages of food, medical supplies, and basic fuel,” he explained. “It’s a really bad situation based on what I’ve heard, and I’m really worried. ” -

#OccupyJulorBiHouse: Charles Owusu lauds police actions during the protest
Charles Owusu, former Head of the Monitoring Unit at the Forestry Commission has commended the Ghana Police Service, under the leadership of Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for their efforts in preventing the #OccupyJulorBiHouse protesters from staging a demonstration near the Jubilee House.
The organizers of the protest, Democracy Hub, had planned to conduct their demonstration in the vicinity of the Jubilee House from Thursday, September 21st to Saturday, September 23rd, 2023.
However, the police, through a statement, revealed that they had filed an injunction application with the court and were awaiting a decision on the matter before taking any further action.
On a related note, the police arrested 49 protesters on the previous day for purportedly violating the Public Order Act and engaging in unlawful assembly.
“The arrest was a result of the flagrant disregard of the court process served on the organisers of the Democracy Hub group, which seeks to prohibit them from embarking on a planned demonstration within the vicinity of the Jubilee House from Thursday, 21st to Saturday, 23rd September 2023.
“We would like to state that the Police do not take delight in preventing any group from demonstrating as the Service has a track record of providing security for demonstrations in the past. The exception, in this case, is the Police disagreement with the organisers on the venue, the Jubilee House, being a security zone,” parts of the statement read.
The Police cautioned the general public to “in the interest of public order and public safety to disregard any invitation by the organisers to take part in any unlawful demonstration until the determination of the matter by the court on September 26, 2023”.
In an interview with Peace FM, Charles Owusu stated emphatically that there is nothing wrong with the action by the police and thus commended the IGP and the entire service for protecting state property.
“I feel that what they did is right…What the Police has done is a good thing. Every property we used State money to do, it behoves the person with authority to protect it to keep it safe,” he said.

#OccupyJulorbiHouse: BBC reporter Thomas Naadi confirms arrest
A BBC reporter in Accra, Thomas Naadi, confirmed that he and his cameraman were arrested by police during day 1 of the OccupyJulorbiHouse demo.
“I was among some members of the media who were also detained, but we were later released at the central police station,” he wrote in a report to the Africa LIVE page on Friday.
Naadi reiterated that he was among the journalists who were detained by police in a later report for Focus on Africa TV.
He stated once more that 49 people were wrongfully detained on September 21; all of them were later released on bail, and he continued, “Some journalists were also detained. I was among those who were arrested.”
On the day that Naadi was allegedly arrested, the Ghana Police Service issued a lengthy statement regarding the reports.
The service’s head of public affairs issued a statement claiming that the rumours were untrue.
“The attention of the police has been drawn to an erroneous report by a section of the media that a BBC reporter and his camera have been arrested.
“The police would like to put on record that the report is false and should be disregarded,” the statement said.
The police have clarified that among the individuals who were apprehended, two were identified as journalists and were promptly released.
The Police Service has reiterated its dedication to maintaining security, enforcing the law, and preserving order while carrying out its responsibilities.
Consequently, the public is encouraged to exercise caution when disseminating unverified or inaccurate information.
“The facts are that in dispersing the illegal demonstrators, a group of them were picked up and sent to the police station. During their screening process, two people who identified themselves as journalists were immediately allowed to go.
“While we assure the public of our commitment to work with all stakeholders in our quest to ensure security law and order, we want to urge all other stakeholders to be circumspect in the discharge of their responsibilities since they have implications on the image and reputation of other stakeholders,” the statement by the police added.

Prison inmates built restaurant and swimming pool once more under Venezuelan control
The Venezuelan government invited reporters to visit the Tocoron Penitentiary Center in Aragua state on Saturday. This happened after security forces took back control of the prison from gangsters who had been in charge for a long time.
The Tocoron prison, which is one of the biggest in the country, used to be controlled by the prisoners themselves. Many of these prisoners were members of a powerful criminal gang called “Train of Aragua,” named after the state in which Tocoron is situated, as per the Venezuelan Information Ministry.
On Wednesday, the Venezuelan security forces, which include the Army and National Guard, carried out a special operation with over 11,000 people to take back control of the prison area.
Venezuela’s Interior Minister, Remigio Ceballos, said that the operation went really well. On Saturday, during a visit with the media, Ceballos announced that security forces had arrested 80 important members of the Tren de Aragua gang after taking control of the prison.
Ceballos said that the government did not talk with gang leaders before the operation, despite what the media said.
We have completely taken apart the leaders of the group called ‘Tren de Aragua. ‘ “They have left,” he said to CNN in Spanish.
Reporters, including a team from CNNe, were taken to see where prisoners had created a swimming pool and some restaurants within the prison walls in recent times. Authorities shared pictures of the weapons found during the raid on prisoners. These weapons included guns that can shoot many bullets quickly, like automatic rifles and machine guns. They also found lots of bullets.
According to the Venezuelan Information Ministry, many prisoners were moved to different prisons after the operation. But, the family members of prisoners disagree with these statements and say that they haven’t talked to their loved ones since the morning when the operation took place.
“I haven’t received any updates since Wednesday,” said Claribel Rojas, whose brother is incarcerated in the Tocoron prison, in an interview on Saturday with CNNe. “I was here both yesterday and today, but nobody has said anything. ”
In Venezuela, it is common for gangs to control prisons. The Tocoron Penitentiary is extremely famous in the country because it represents how the government can’t regain control in recent years.
The Tren de Aragua is the strongest criminal gang in Venezuela. Recently, it has started to do more work in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Argentina, says the US State Department. -

Philippines denounces China for erecting floating barrier in contentious South China Sea
The Philippines criticized China for putting up a “floating barrier” in a disputed part of the South China Sea. They were upset because it stopped Filipino boats from going into the area to fish.
In a statement, the spokesperson for the Philippine coast guard, Jay Tarriela, said that Philippine vessels found a floating barrier while doing a regular patrol on Friday. The barrier was about 300 meters long.
The Philippine coast guard and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources are very upset about China’s coast guard putting up a floating barrier in the Southeast area of Bajo de Masinloc. This barrier stops Filipino fishing boats from going into the shoal and they cannot fish or make a living.
Tarriela posted pictures of a supposed barrier floating on the water and said that three boats from the Chinese coast guard and one boat from the Chinese maritime militia had put up the barrier after a Philippine government ship arrived in the area.
The Philippines coast guard recently shared a video showing large areas of damaged and pale corals. This has led officials to blame China for causing extensive harm to the environment in that region.
Tarriela stated that the ongoing extensive and harmful fishing activities by the Chinese maritime militia in Rozul Reef and Escoda Shoal may have directly damaged the marine environment in the West Philippine Sea. The West Philippine Sea refers to parts of the South China Sea under Manila’s control.
Tarriela said that finding crushed corals indicates that someone may have thrown them away, possibly after cleaning them.
When asked about the damage to coral during a regular meeting, China’s foreign ministry rejected the accusations as untrue and without evidence.
“We suggest that the officials in the Philippines should not use false information to create a political act,” spokesperson Mao Ning shared with journalists.
Filipino fishermen say that Chinese ships usually put up floating barriers when they see a lot of Filipino fishermen nearby.
China has not said anything publicly yet.
CNN wants to hear what China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has to say.
Bajo de Masinloc, which is also called the Scarborough Shoal, is a small and important reef and good fishing spot located 130 miles (200 kilometers) to the west of the Philippine island of Luzon.
China and other countries argue over the ownership of the Huangyandao shoal. This is just one of many islands and reefs in the South China Sea that are in dispute. -

Ukraine asserts Sevastopol attack injured navy officers
Ukraine says that the missile attack on the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea fleet in Crimea happened at the same time as a meeting of naval officials.
In a brief statement, the Ukrainian military said that the attack resulted in people being killed and injured but did not give any more information.
On Friday, Moscow announced that one of its military personnel was unaccounted for following the assault.
The fleet, which is located in the city of Sevastopol, is considered to be the strongest navy in Russia.
A person from Ukraine’s military told the BBC that the attack on Friday was done using missiles called Storm Shadows. These missiles come from Britain and France.
The Ukrainian military said on Saturday that they had killed and injured many people from the opposing side, including their leaders, in a recent conflict.
The head of intelligence in Kyiv, Kyrylo Budanov, said that two Russian commanders were seriously hurt in the missile attack.
The BBC cannot confirm many of the things both sides say about what happens in battles.
On Saturday, Sevastopol area was attacked again. The governor of the city, Mikhail Razvozhaev, who was appointed by Russia, said that the remains of a missile that was intercepted by air defenses fell near a pier.
He also informed the residents that he was going to examine bomb shelters because some people had complained that they were difficult to get into or not in good condition.
He wrote on Telegram, asking everyone to please stop spreading panic and making our enemies happy. Panic is what they want the most.
Recently, Kyiv’s forces have been attacking Russian forces in Crimea almost every day.
Last week, Ukraine’s navy said that they have disabled an S-400 air defense missile system that was protecting the peninsula. This has made it harder for Russia to defend against new attacks.
The day before, a big Russian boat and underwater vehicle were harmed in an attack that Ukraine said included Storm Shadow missiles too.
The attacks on Crimea are very important in terms of strategy and symbolism.
The Black Sea fleet is not only used by Russia to attack Ukraine, but it is also a very important symbol of Russia’s long-standing military presence in the region.
The base was located in Crimea before Russia took it over unlawfully in 2014. -

Police in Florida halt 10-year old young driver on highway
Police in Florida were surprised when they pulled over a car on a big road, only to find out that the person driving the car was a 10-year-old boy.
The boy and his 11-year-old sister were found in Alachua, which was far away from where their mother said they went missing earlier in the week.
The police said that the two people tried to run away after she took away their electronic devices.
“They were very surprised when they saw a 10-year-old boy driving a car and getting out with his sister,” the deputies reported.
The Alachua County Sheriff’s office said the traffic stop was dangerous and happened very late at night, at 03:50 local time (07:50 GMT) on Thursday.
The white car that the two people were traveling in was reported as missing by their mother in a city called North Port, Florida. North Port is more than 200 miles away from Alachua.
The police found out that both kids were mad at their mom because she took away their electronic devices. She did this because they were not using them correctly.
The police said that they didn’t think they were being treated badly at home.
The kids’ mom drove for three hours in the direction of Alachua to pick up her children.
The police talked to the mother for a long time. She was trying her best to take care of her two kids. She listened to the advice the police gave her about getting help.
The minimum age to get a learner’s permit in Florida is 15, but you have to be 18 years old to apply for a full license. -

Chinese authorities give Uyghur scholar life sentence
China has allegedly imprisoned a well-known Uyghur scholar for the rest of his life. He is accused of posing a threat to the country’s safety.
Rahile Dawut’s sentence was approved after she asked for a review of her case in 2018, as reported by the US-based human rights group, Dui Hua Foundation.
The professor, who is 57 years old, tried to change a decision but she was not successful this month.
China has been accused of committing very serious crimes against the Uyghur people and other ethnic groups in Xinjiang, who are mostly Muslims.
Human rights organizations think that China has forcefully imprisoned over one million Uyghurs for a number of years in a vast system of camps that the government refers to as “re-education camps”.
It has caused many people to go to jail for a long time.
John Kamm, executive director of the Dui Hua Foundation, said that the punishment given to Professor Rahile Dawut is a very sad event. It is a big loss for the Uyghur community and for those who value the right to study and learn freely.
He asked for her to be let go right away and brought back safely to her family.
Her daughter, Akeda Pulati, said she is always concerned about her mother.
I feel really sad when I think about my innocent mom having to spend her whole life in prison. “China, please be kind and set my innocent mother free,” she said in a message shared by Dui Hua.
In December 2018, Ms. Dawut had a trial in a court in Xinjiang. She was arrested the year before for a crime called “splittism”, which means she was accused of putting the country’s security at risk.
A person from the Chinese government confirmed that Dui Hua has been sentenced to life in prison, the group announced.
Ms Dawut is really good at knowing about Uyghur stories and customs. She used to teach at Xinjiang University College of Humanities before she was taken into custody.
In 2007, she started the Ethnic Minorities Research Centre at the university. She also did research in Xinjiang by visiting different places and studying the people living there. She taught at universities in the United States and United Kingdom, including prestigious ones like Harvard and Cambridge.
Dui Hua stated that Ms. Dawut is one of many Uyghur intellectuals who have been captured, taken into custody, and put in jail since 2016.
Many countries, including the US, accuse China of committing genocide in Xinjiang. China is being accused by important human rights organizations, Amnesty and Human Rights Watch, of committing terrible crimes against people.
China says that the accusations are not true.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mao Ning, she does not have any information regarding Ms Dawut’s case.
There are around 12 million Uyghurs, who are mostly Muslim, living in Xinjiang. Xinjiang is also known as the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and is located in the northwest of China.
New information gathered by the BBC in 2022 showed that China has been using “re-education camps” and that they often have armed officers. The documents also mentioned a policy where officers are allowed to shoot and potentially kill anyone who tries to escape from these camps. -

Fears in Karabakh increase as villagers call for assistance
US senators want a group of people from different countries to go watch over the area called Nagorno-Karabakh. The situation is getting worse for the people who live there and are Armenian.
Democrat Gary Peters, who was leading a group of people to that area, said that the people there were really scared.
There is not enough food and medicine in the main city, Stepanakert.
But, the International Red Cross said it was able to bring 70 tons of help on Saturday.
It was the first group of vehicles to arrive in the disputed area since Azerbaijan took control of it quickly five days ago.
Russia has also given help. Before, Moscow stated that Armenian fighters in Nagorno-Karabakh had begun surrendering their weapons to Russian peacekeepers.
Mr Peters expressed his worry about the current situation in Nagorno-Karabakh on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. He believes that it is important for the situation to be made more known or visible.
“He said it is important for people to know what is going on. The statements from authorities in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, are not helpful and should be checked. ”
Armenians living in Karabakh say that the situation in Stepanakert (also known as Khankendi by Azerbaijanis) is very bad.
They said they were trapped in the area, with very little food, electricity, or fuel, and asked for help from other places.
Many people have come to the city to seek shelter because there are often times when the electricity goes out.
Many people are sleeping in tents or outside near Stepanakert airport.
Families are saying that they cannot communicate with each other because the Azerbaijani army has blocked them, and they are worried because they don’t know if their relatives are alive or dead.
One resident named Siranush Sargsyan said that she doesn’t know anyone who wants to stay here.
“I have older family members who are very close to me. They sadly lost their sons in past wars. They choose to stay and pass away in this place,” she said.
Baku says that the problem is now only a matter for Azerbaijan.
Jason Straziuso, who speaks for the International Committee for the Red Cross in Geneva, said that they gave food aid to the area on Saturday. The aid included wheat, salt, and yeast.
“He said that now, communities will be able to make bread with those ingredients. ”
“He said that based on what he has observed internally, the ceasefire is still in place. ”
We have been talking to everyone involved and they are letting us help with our charitable work. We think there will be more opportunities to help soon.
In the meantime, it is said that five Russian peacekeepers were shot and killed in a situation that seems to involve Azerbaijani forces.
Pictures on social media showed that the back window of the vehicle that the Russian soldiers were in had bullet holes in it.
Azerbaijan is currently burying the people who died during the special mission. On Friday, the BBC discovered 12 new graves of military personnel in a cemetery in Baku.
At least 25 more plots for burial were being made ready. Some soldiers from Azerbaijan died during the fighting, according to military people at the cemetery. -

Ex-Wagner suspected of attempting to go back to Russia
The police in Norway have arrested a man who used to be in charge of a group called Wagner. He had asked for protection in Norway, but then tried to go back to Russia without permission.
This is the most recent colorful event involving Andrey Medvedev, who has been in the Western countries since January.
He got arrested right after he reached Norway because of immigration rules.
Then, in April, he admitted that he was part of a fight outside a bar and carrying a fake gun in public.
However, he was found not guilty of attacking police officers.
Mr Medvedev, who came from Russia’s northern region, crossed into Norway. People think that he is the first person from Wagner to leave and go to the Western countries.
The mercenary group, led by Yevgeny Prigozhin until he died in a plane crash in August, has been involved in multiple operations orchestrated by Russia.
When Medvedev arrived in Norway, he explained that he wanted protection as he was afraid of being violently killed. He had witnessed some serious crimes during the war in Ukraine.
But in May, he said in a video on YouTube that he wanted to return, even though there may be danger to his life.
The police arrested a young man on Friday for trying to enter Russia, but they did not reveal his name.
You can only enter Russia at specific locations.
Mr Medvedev’s lawyer from Norway, Brynjulf Risnes, told Reuters news agency that his client’s true identity is confirmed. He also explained that the arrest happened because of a misunderstanding.
He went up there to look for the spot where he entered Norway in January. He was told to stop while he was riding in a taxi, “Mr.
He said he didn’t mean to go back. “He never came close to the border. “ -

Bawumia halts campaign to focus on voter registration exercise
The campaign team of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has temporarily suspended its campaign operations.
This strategic decision has been made to facilitate the Vice President’s visit to specific locations where the Limited Voter Registration Exercise is currently in progress.
In a press release signed by Spokesperson Dr. Gideon Boako, it was clarified that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will utilize this campaign hiatus to pay visits to designated registration centers operated by the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC).
“Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will use the campaign break to visit selected E.C. Registration centres and encourage all party faithful to focus on mobilizing eligible persons to register for their voter’s ID card,” the release stated.
Additionally, he urged party members to actively participate in the registration exercise.
“The campaign entreats all party members to take note and work hard to achieve each constituency’s registration target.”
Prior to the temporary suspension of the campaign activities, Dr. Bawumia had been actively involved in interacting with constituents residing in the Western North Region.
During his visit to the region, he conducted a thorough examination of the voter registration process taking place within the Enchi district, closely monitoring the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.
On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, all 268 district offices of the commission nationwide opened for the Limited Voters’ Registration Exercise, which allowed eligible Ghanaians who had reached the age of 18 or older to register to vote.
This was done as part of the EC’s planning for the 2024 general elections.
The registration process is scheduled to end on Monday, October 2, 2023, and will be open to Ghanaians who have turned 18 since the last registration in 2020, as well as those who are older but were unable to register during the 2020 registration process for a variety of reasons.

Accused in Ashaley Botwe Junction murder faces High Court
Safina Mohammed Adizatu, a student accused of murdering her boyfriend in Ashaley Botwe in July last year, has appeared before the Accra High Court.
In August 2023, the District Court at Adenta in Accra ordered her to stand trial at the High Court for the murder of Frank Kofi Osei, a Ghanaian resident in Canada who was in Ghana for holidays.
Frank was brutally killed during his visit to Safina at Ashaley Botwe School Junction in Accra.
In a virtual session, the court granted Adizatu, also known as Safina Diamond, GH¢500,000 bail and mandated her to report to the Homicide Unit of the Ghana Police Service headquarters every two weeks.
The case was adjourned to October 13, 2023, when the substantive judge would take Safina’s plea and empanel the jury for the trial to commence.
Safina has declared her innocence regarding the murder charge filed against her by the police at the District Court.
The prosecution is expected to present nine witnesses, including Michael Fiifi Ampofo Arku, who was initially arrested as an accomplice but later released on the recommendation of the Attorney General.
The prosecution’s case states that on Sunday, July 24, 2022, Osei, who was vacationing in Ghana, visited Safina at Ashaley Botwe School Junction and decided to spend the night with her.
At night, Safina, Arku, and other yet-to-be-arrested accomplices allegedly stabbed Osei with a knife and strangled him. Safina and the accomplices purportedly cleaned Osei’s blood from the floor while the body remained in the room for 24 hours.
Subsequently, Osei’s body was moved from the first floor of the building down the staircase and left at the gate of the house where he had parked his Toyota Tundra.
Safina allegedly called the police, reporting that her boyfriend, who had visited her, had died in her room. When the police arrived, they found Osei’s body at the gate of Safina’s house and arrested her.

Moroccan earthquake: Earthquake job extremely difficult – firefighters
A team of firefighters from the UK went to Morocco to help after an earthquake. They said it was one of the hardest things they had ever done.
On September 8th, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6. 8 hit and caused the death of over 2,900 people. Additionally, more than 5,000 individuals were injured.
Four firefighters from Lincolnshire and a rescue dog were part of a team in the UK that searches and rescues people in emergencies.
Neil Woodmansey, a member of the team, said that it was a reminder of the facts for everyone involved.
Mr Woodmansey, along with his dog Colin and his colleagues Karl Keuneke, Darren Burchnall, and Ben Clarke, joined a team of 60 firefighters from 14 fire services in the UK.
The firefighter, who lives in Sleaford, has been helping rescue people in other countries for over 20 years. They said it was still a very important moment when they received the call.
“One moment, it’s a Saturday morning and you have your plans – I was going to Lincoln to have some drinks – and suddenly, you’re quickly packing your bags and flying off to Morocco to try and support and aid the people there,” he explained.
When we arrived, we went up the mountains and it was very hard.
‘Everything taken away’ can be rewritten as ‘Everything has been removed’ or ‘Everything has been taken. ‘
The middle point of the shaking was in the High Atlas Mountains, around 44 miles (71km) away from Marrakesh. The places that got hit the hardest were faraway villages and towns.
Mr Burchnall said it would take around five hours to get to the villages that were affected because the roads were blocked and the mountain paths were very narrow. Additionally, their efforts to reach faraway places were hindered by aftershocks.
Mr Woodmansey said that it was both thrilling and frightening.
“He said that Colin simply lay down and fell asleep, but the rest of us were somewhat anxious,” he said.
Mr Clarke, who works at Sleaford fire station, said the thing that affected him the most was how big the disaster was.
“In my job as a firefighter, we usually handle smaller emergencies like a house fire or a car accident. So going from that to dealing with a whole town, village, or even a larger area like a city or an entire country affected by an earthquake, it was one of the most impactful experiences for me personally, and I will always remember it. ”
Mr Keuneke, who usually works at Lincoln South fire station, said that many families have lost everything. This includes their houses and loved ones.
“We are accustomed to encountering individuals during their most difficult moments. However, witnessing it on such a large level was completely unique compared to anything I have previously encountered. ”
Mr Woodmansey said that the experience made him realize the truth and made him value what he already has. -

Isle of Man Island to honour South African culture
A festival to celebrate the culture, food, and music of South Africa will happen for the first time on the Isle of Man.
Approximately 1,200 individuals from our country currently reside on the island.
The organizer, Vanessa Naude, said that the event would help newcomers feel more comfortable and meet new people.
The festival is a joint effort between Isle Settle, an events company, and the Isle of Man Chapter of the UK South African Chamber of Commerce.
Ms Naude said that more people from South Africa are interested in moving to the island for work. This interest has been made stronger because the Manx government has been working to encourage business connections between the two countries.
Officials from Finance Isle of Man, a government agency, went to the country alongside the chief minister to build stronger connections and promote business opportunities.
Ms Naude said that the event on Saturday at the Nunnery in Douglas was planned to happen at the same time as the nation’s Heritage Weekend. It was a chance for people to gather and celebrate the special South African way of life.
The event was meant to help people fit in with the local communities in South Africa and the Isle of Man. Moving to a new country can be tough, so the event aimed to make it easier for them. -

Protesters gear up for Day 3 of OccupyJulorbiHouse demo
Members of the political pressure organization, Democracy Hub, have congregated at the 37 Trotro station on Saturday, marking the commencement of their third and final day of the OccupyJulorbiHouse demo.
Their demonstration aims to spotlight the government’s perceived mishandling of the economy, which has resulted in hardships for the Ghanaian populace.
To maintain order during the protest, a substantial contingent of police personnel is stationed in the 37 enclave. Notably, several prominent celebrities have also joined the demonstrators in their cause.
On the preceding day of the protest, the police cordoned off the march towards the Jubilee House, preventing the protesters from advancing. During this event, certain Ghanaian celebrities participating in the protest were observed sitting on the ground, symbolizing their discontent.
Thursday’s protest saw the arrest of 49 individuals from the Democracy Hub group, including a BBC reporter and cameraman. Metro TV’s Bridget Otoo also experienced an altercation with the police.
Democracy Hub has been vocal in its criticism of the government, conducting a series of demonstrations with the overarching demand for the implementation of effective measures to alleviate the hardships experienced by Ghanaians.
On Friday, representatives of the Democracy Hub group engaged in a dialogue with the Police Service to address concerns related to the nature of their planned demonstration at the Jubilee House. In a statement issued on Friday, the police described the meeting as conducted in an amicable manner. The group’s leaders pledged to engage their members in discussions to reach a possible compromise regarding the protest venue and subsequently communicate their decision to the police.
Moreover, they assured the police that they would encourage their members to vacate the streets while awaiting either a consensus between the police and the demonstrators on an alternative location or a resolution of the matter through legal channels.

Twins and their mother accused of feigning Inuit identity
Three women in Canada are facing criminal charges for falsely claiming to be Inuit in order to receive benefits from indigenous organizations.
The police say that two sisters who are 25 years old pretended to be adopted Inuit children and did something wrong called fraud.
Both sisters and their 59-year-old mother have been charged with two counts of fraud. One group of Inuit people found the alleged deception to be very surprising.
The people being accused have to go to court in Iqaluit on 30 October.
The RCMP said that Amira and Nadya Gill and their mother, Karima Manji, tricked two local groups out of money that is only meant for Inuit people by getting grants and scholarships. This happened between October 2016 and September 2022.
As part of an agreement in 1993, the Inuit community in Canada‘s remote northern territory called Nunavut can get benefits like money and help with school.
The process of proving and confirming indigenous status is managed by an organization called Nunavut Tunngavik Inc, also known as NTI. This organization represents Inuits who live in the region.
In a statement in March, NTI said that they found out about possible cheating in the enrollment of the Gill sisters. This happened after Ms. Manji said that they were adopted and mentioned an Inuk woman as their birth mother.
They said that this case was the first time something like this has happened in the organization’s enrollment program.
After looking into the situation, the three people from Ontario were taken off the NTI’s list of people who receive benefits. The issue was then given to the RCMP.
Kitty Noah, the woman identified by the Gills as their biological mother, said before she passed away in July that she was not connected to the twins.
In 2021, the Gill sisters started a business on the internet where they sell face masks. The face masks have designs made by artists from indigenous communities. Both sisters have finished studying at Queen’s University in Ontario.
During an interview with Canadian broadcaster CBC, NTI President Aluki Kotierk stated that it is important for the Gill sisters and their mother to give back the money they received from Inuit associations.
He said that in the future, the NTI will provide additional training for the people on the enrollment committees.
Mr Kotierk described the supposed fraud as “another way of taking over” and part of a larger pattern where non-indigenous Canadians pretend to be indigenous.
“He said that you aimed to deprive us of our language. ” You tried to remove our culture from us. Are you trying to say that you are us. That is really surprising.
In a statement, the NTI said that the case was an “isolated” incident. However, they are planning to make enrollment criteria stricter and will now ask applicants to submit a copy of their detailed birth certificate.
The twins received money from two local groups, the Kakivak Association and the Qikiqtani Inuit Association. They also got scholarships from Indspire, a Canadian charity for indigenous people, as well as from electricity company Hydro One and Royal Bank of Canada.
A representative from the Royal Bank of Canada said that in the past, people applying for scholarships could say if they were indigenous, but now the rules have changed.
The BBC has reached out to Indspire and Hydro One to ask for their comments.
Some Canadians call people who falsely claim to be indigenous “pretendians”.
But according to Jean Teillet, who is a part of the Métis indigenous community, they say that the term makes the issue seem less serious because it sounds like it is not harmful.
I like to use the word fraud because it means intentionally tricking someone to get something valuable, and that’s exactly what we’re talking about here.
The three women who were charged could not be contacted right away for their comments.
