Daniel Khalife, suspected terrorist seen in Wandsworth

The police have said they saw Daniel Khalife, the person who escaped from custody for terrorist activities, in the southwest part of London.

According to someone who saw it, a man who looked like Khalife was seen walking away from a BidFood van near the south entrance to Wandsworth Roundabout on Wednesday morning. This happened about a mile away from Wandsworth Prison, as reported by Scotland Yard.

They said Khalife was seen at the top of Trinity Road soon after he escaped.

The 21-year-old person who used to be in the military was seen later walking in the direction of Wandsworth town centre.

The police believe that the sighting is very important and is one of the main things they are investigating.

The police are offering a reward of £20,000 to anyone who provides information about a person who has been accused of spying on Britain for Iran.

Over 100 people have told authorities that they have seen Khalife.

The police have said before that the ex-soldier’s training in the military might make it more difficult to catch him.

It is believed that the 22-year-old, who was waiting for trial because of terrorism and Official Secrets Act crimes, managed to escape by attaching himself to the bottom of a delivery van.

A British soldier named Dr Patrick Bury believes that someone probably helped a person escape from Wandsworth jail. He thinks that the person who escaped is either very fortunate or very clever, and if they are clever, they likely had assistance from others.

Former British soldier killed in Ukraine combat was ‘extremely loved’

A British ex-soldier who died while fighting for the International Legion in Ukraine was deeply loved by his family, who are very sad about his death.

According to the BBC, Jordan Chadwick, who is 31 years old and from Burnley, Lancashire, went to Russia in October 2022 to fight against them.

He was found dead in the water. His hands were tied together behind his back.

Mr Chadwick’s family found out that he died on June 26 from Lancashire Police. He was brought back to his home country on August 7.

Mrs Chadwick said that she was very upset when she heard the news that he had died.

“Even though we are very proud of his strong bravery and determination, his death has been very sad,” she said.
His family said that he was loved a lot.

There are no words to explain how sad it is to lose someone who lived for a short time.

‘A person who was loved very much by their family, including their parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts/uncles, and nieces/nephews. ‘

She said that he had always wanted to be a soldier from a young age.

A spokesperson from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said that they are helping the family of a British man who died in Ukraine. They are also talking to the local authorities there.
Another person named Sam Newey, from Britain, died in Ukraine last month. Now, there is news that Mr. Chadwick has also passed away.

  • UK may experience six days of heat records-breaking 30°C in September

UK may experience six days of heat records-breaking 30°C in September

Forecasters predict that in September, the UK may experience six days where the temperature reaches 30°C or higher, which has never happened before.

Yesterday, the weather was very hot. It was the hottest day of the year so far, with a temperature of 32. 6°C recorded in Wisley, Surrey. This information was reported by the Met Office.

It was a little hotter than the highest temperature in 2023, which was 32. 2 degrees Celsius in June. This was the fourth day this month when the temperature was above 30 degrees Celsius.

This is better than the previous record of three days that happened four times before, with the most recent one being in September 2016.

Simon Partridge, a weatherman from the Met Office, said that if the temperature stays at 30°C all the way until Sunday, which seems likely, it will be the sixth day in a row that we have reached that temperature.

In September, we had three consecutive days where the temperature didn’t go higher than 30°C.

So even though this isn’t the hottest weather we’ve had in September, it has been hot for a longer time than before, twice as long.
The hottest temperature in September in the UK was 35. 6°C in 1906 in South Yorkshire, according to the Met Office.

Mr Partridge said it was impossible for the record to be beaten this year.

“He said that it might get a little warmer over the weekend, not a lot, but enough to be the warmest day of the year so far. ”

‘It will always be about 32 degrees Celsius, with the highest temperature reaching close to 33 degrees Celsius. ‘
The UK Health Security Agency gave a warning until 9pm on Sunday for most places in England. This warning is important for older people and those with certain health problems because they are more likely to be harmed.

Mr Partridge said that the biggest problem right now is the overnight temperatures. On Wednesday night, many places in southwest England and Wales didn’t go below 19°C, which is quite warm.

‘At nighttime, we will keep experiencing temperatures in the range of 15 to 19 degrees Celsius. ‘ Some places may not get colder than 20°C, so the nights can be warm and humid.

On Monday, the temperature will decrease a little bit, with London expected to be around 27 degrees Celsius. It will then drop to 23 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

The remaining days of next week will have temperatures in the early 20s in the southeast and in the late teens towards the west and north.

73 people hurt as Russian missile hits President Zelensky’s hometown

The hometown of President Zelensky was targeted by a Russian missile, resulting in the death of a policeman and causing injuries to a minimum of 73 individuals, as stated by authorities.

According to the interior minister of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, nine police officers were injured in the attack on Kryvyi Rih.

Mr Klymenko shared pictures on Telegram of a building that was on fire. The pictures also showed burned wood and emergency workers helping the injured people leave the area.

According to the interior ministry, 73 people were injured by evening.

Mr Klymenko said that on Friday, three individuals died because a bomb from Russia hit the village of Odradokamianka in southern Ukraine’s Kherson region.

The strikes happened when Russia attacked multiple places in the country during the night.

They arrived a few days later after 16 individuals were murdered in a Russian strike on a market in eastern Ukraine, and pieces of a drone were discovered in Romania.

This made people who live nearby worried that the war could start happening in the country next to Ukraine, which is a member of Nato.
Three people died on Friday when a bomb from Russia hit Odradokamianka village in southern Ukraine, as shared by Mr.

On Friday, a funeral took place for an 18-year-old who was one of 16 people who died on Wednesday during a Russian attack on a market in Kostiantynivka, in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine.
The attack injured 33 people and destroyed the market. It happened when US secretary of state Antony Blinken was visiting Ukraine to evaluate their counteroffensive, but the attack became the main focus instead.

At the moment, Russia is organizing elections for local leaders in the portion of the Kherson region that it has authority over. There are elections happening in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

In Kherson, people who live there and Ukrainian activists are saying that election poll workers have been visiting houses, and they are being accompanied by soldiers who are carrying guns.
Ukraine has rejected the elections and wants its allies to condemn what Russia has done. They are asking their allies not to accept or support any government that comes from this voting process.

The war created many problems for other countries who were trying to handle the effects of the war on things like food availability, rising prices, and other important issues.

The UK said on Friday that it will organize an important meeting in November to discuss a global problem with food shortage. This decision was made because Russia decided to no longer be a part of an agreement to trade grain from the Black Sea region, and also because Ukraine’s grain supply has been attacked.
The ex-leader of the government, Boris Johnson, went to Ukraine on Friday and participated in the Yalta European Strategy event.

In a video shared on Mr. Zelensky’s Telegram channel, Mr. Johnson was shown listening to the Ukraine leader’s speech. He was accompanied by Michael McFaul, a former US ambassador to Russia who now leads a group working on sanctions against Moscow, and Mr. Zelensky’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak.

In his speech, Mr. Zelensky said that Ukraine is not only a country in Europe fighting against Russia, it is also a moral choice and a symbol of freedom that people from different countries can relate to and recognize.

14-year-old girl gang-raped and set on fire in Rajasthan

A young girl, who was 14 years old, was sexually assaulted by a group of people and then set on fire. Her brother later found her jewelry and her body inside a furnace.

The girl disappeared after she left home to look after her family’s goats.

Police in India have accused 11 men of committing the attack in Rajasthan.

According to officers who spoke to Times of India, the girl’s brother saw some charcoal furnaces that were set up by a group of people who move around a lot and don’t have a permanent home.

He noticed smoke coming out of one of the kilns, which made him suspicious because they weren’t usually on at night.

‘He searched through the oven with a stick and carefully looked through the burned things. ‘

The brother found a bracelet that he had given to his sister only a few days ago.

The police found body parts and they figured out the clothes and shoes of the victim.
They later said that the person who was hurt was still alive when someone set her on fire.

The very scary attack has made a lot of people really angry all over the country.

In July, 15,000 individuals came together for a sit-in protest in Manipur. This protest occurred because a group of people had stripped and exposed two women to public humiliation.

The people who were hurt belong to a small Christian group called Kuki. They were recorded while being made to walk through a village by a group of men who are Hindu and belong to a larger group called Meitei. This happened on May 3rd.

The video shows the two people being pushed, pulled, and touched inappropriately by the men. One of the men even threatened to harm them. Eventually, they were taken to a field.

Police think that a group of people assaulted one of the women together, and they also think that another woman, who is not shown in the video, was made to take off her clothes by force.

  • President Akufo-Addo inaugurates Jubilee South East Oil Field project

President Akufo-Addo inaugurates Jubilee South East Oil Field project

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo officially launched the commencement of oil production from the Jubilee South East (JSE) Project on September 8, 2023. This project is a collaborative effort involving Tullow, the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC), Kosmos Energy, Jubilee Oil Holdings Limited, and Petro SA.

President Akufo-Addo highlighted that the achievement of the South East Project is in accordance with the overarching Jubilee field strategy, which seeks to enhance overall production from the eastern sector of the field.

“With a collective investment of some one billion United States dollars (US$1 billion), our target of maintaining production above one hundred thousand (100,000) barrels of oil per day from this field, by year-end, is well within reach. With some three hundred million (300 million) barrels of oil estimated within the Jubilee field, this triumph augments our confidence in other prospects across the nation,” the President said.

In his address to the assembly, the President emphasized that the success of the JSE Project underscores his administration’s commitment to attract further investments from partners in the TEN field project.

He pointed out that this expansion would solidify the government’s accomplishments in the oil and gas sector, underscoring the significance of the TEN field, which boasts substantial gas reserves, in bolstering the nation’s natural gas production and ensuring the stability of the power sector in the forthcoming years.

President Akufo-Addo acknowledged awareness of discussions, both in the media and various circles, regarding the optimal utilization of domestically produced natural gas to meet the country’s power sector requirements.

“Players in the oil and gas sector have been advocating for a commitment by the Government to consider deploying more natural gas produced domestically to solve the challenges in providing sustainable electricity for individuals, households and businesses,” he said.

The President continued, “I want to re-emphasize our commitment to expedite discussions and agree on mutually acceptable terms for a combined gas sales agreement between Tullow, its Joint Venture Partners and Government. This step will pave the way for heightened success and revenue generation in the sector, fostering the use of natural gas for domestic purposes, and the creation of allied industries. Such utilisation is especially critical in meeting approximately half of our power generation requirements.”

President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of Local Content and Ghanaian involvement in upstream petroleum operations. He clarified that the government’s stance on local content extends beyond merely providing support services to the sector; it also encompasses having a significant stake in the available resources.

“We must collectively endeavour to train our people to get to a level where they have the capacity to be able to participate fully in the industry, and our position is to strengthen all training vehicles in the various industries of the Energy sector, like the Accelerated Oil and Gas Capacity Building Programme, to ensure that Ghanaians have the relevant certification to become competitive, and play a fuller role in the industry. That fuller role will be most effectively anchored when we ensure Ghanaian equity participation in the upstream development of our oil and gas resources,” he stated.

Considering Ghana’s commitment as a signatory to the Paris Agreement, where the 2nd President of the 4th Republic, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, played a prominent role as a co-chair during its discussions, and its participation in other international agreements aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions, President Akufo-Addo recognized the pressing need for Ghana to formulate plans and strategies for achieving a net-zero energy sector.

“However, as I have reiterated on previous occasions, whilst working hard to combat the effects of climate change, it is also important to protect our development by making sure that our oil reserves do not become stranded assets, but, rather, a catalyst for our economic growth. Our position remains unchanged,” he added.

The President reaffirmed that Ghana possesses numerous attributes that make it an attractive investment destination, including a stable political system, a well-established legal framework, a sustainable fiscal regime, a reliable telecommunications infrastructure, a diligent and skilled workforce, and a friendly and welcoming population.

“I wish to assure the investor community of our continued support to ensure that their investments are safe in law and in fact, and that they are able to flourish in our country within the context of our relevant laws. Our doors are always open for conversations on your presence in Ghana, and I hope the good, warm relations we have fostered over the years will continue to endure in the times ahead,” he added.

  • Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi: The person who separated South Africa

Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi: The person who separated South Africa

Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who has passed away at the age of 95, was a very important person in South African politics. President Cyril Ramaphosa called him an excellent leader.

During apartheid, he was the leader of the KwaZulu Bantustan, a region set aside for the Zulu people by the country’s white supremacist government.

Many people believed that his government was controlled by South Africa. It did not allow any political opposition and was mostly influenced by his own party, Inkatha, which he created in 1975.

He joined forces with the African National Congress (ANC) in fighting against apartheid and worked to free Nelson Mandela.

However, he disagreed with the ANC’s position on using weapons and imposing global penalties, because he believed it was detrimental to black South Africans.

During the change to having multiple political parties, Buthelezi was worried that he would lose his control and influence. He wanted a government system where the power is shared between the central government and the local government. He also wanted to make sure that the traditional leaders of the Zulu people would be treated with respect and their positions would be protected.

The ANC and Inkatha fought against each other, and around 12,000 people died in violent battles in the early 1990s. Many people think that the apartheid government caused these fights to happen.

Some people were afraid that the fighting would start a civil war, but Buthelezi later agreed to be part of Mandela’s government in 1994. Despite ongoing conflicts, he held the position of minister responsible for domestic matters for a period of ten years.

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), led by Buthelezi, had a hard time gaining support outside of the Zulu people, who are the largest ethnic group in the country. However, Buthelezi was able to stay in charge and keep his position as the party’s leader despite efforts to remove him.

He stepped down as the IFP president in 2019. He was one of the few leaders from the old semi-autonomous areas who adjusted to the time after apartheid. He was admired for his ability to survive in South African politics.
Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi was born on 27 August 1928 in a place that used to be in the southeast part of Zululand.

His mother was a princess named Magogo kaDinzulu. She was the sister of the Zulu king and was well-known for singing traditional songs.

The king wanted to fix a problem between their families, so he made a plan for her to marry Buthelezi’s father, who was the leader of a very strong group of people.

When he was 14 years old, someone told him that his dad had passed away.

He was brought to the family house. He poked the ground with a spear, like Zulus do, to mark where the hole for the grave should be dug. Then he shouted loudly that he was taking ownership of what he inherited.

Buthelezi went to Adams College, a famous missionary school near Durban. However, when he started university in the Eastern Cape in 1948, the National Party won the election and started enforcing apartheid.

He became a member of the ANC and campaigned against the new government with Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo.

Because he was politically active and involved, he was kicked out of university. As a result, he went back to KwaZulu-Natal to become the leader of his family clan.

He got married to Irene, who is studying to become a nurse in Johannesburg. People said that his father had about 40 wives, but he didn’t want more wives because he was a practicing Anglican and didn’t want to give in to traditional Zulu pressure.

In 1954, King Cyprian chose him to be his traditional prime minister. The message was very important and often taken by a member of the Buthelezi family.

Ten years later, he acted in a movie called Zulu alongside Michael Caine. He acted as his own great-grandfather, King Cetshwayo, in the battle of Rorke’s Drift.

At that time, the first Bantu authorities were created and Buthelezi was picked as the Chief Executive of KwaZulu. A new set of laws gave him all the control over running the government, while the king’s duties became mostly symbolic.

He built his own group called Inkatha to advocate for the rights of Zulus and oppose white control.

However, supported by his new party, Buthelezi ruled with strict and firm control.

Being a part of the party was almost necessary for people who didn’t want to get fired from their jobs.

The prime minister decided to personally handle his country’s money matters and have full control over the police forces.

During apartheid, Buthelezi did not want to accept the limited amount of independence that the South African government offered the Bantustans.
“He said that South Africa is a single country. ” It only has one fate. The people who are trying to split up our country are trying to stop the flow of progress in history.

However, some people who opposed apartheid did not agree with his position.

Steve Biko, a prominent leader who fought for Black rights, was sadly killed by the South African security services. He believed that Buthelezi, another leader, was being taken advantage of by the apartheid regime. Buthelezi, on the other hand, believed that he was working alongside the system to bring it down.

His relationship with the ANC leaders who had been forced to leave the country got worse in the late 1970s.

The ANC and the South African Communist Party were working together, but Buthelezi strongly opposed communism. He believed that the group had a lot of Marxists and didn’t want to offer safe places for the armed members.

He worked to convince others to remove economic punishments against South Africa, strongly believing that he needed to make sure black children received food and clothing.

Buthelezi received compliments from British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher for his method, but one ANC activist criticized him as a South African government follower who was living in a delusional world.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu had to ask him to leave a funeral because many black mourners were throwing stones.

When Nelson Mandela was put in prison, Buthelezi and the ANC agreed on the same thing.

The leader of Inkatha was determined in his efforts to have the highly respected person released from prison on Robben Island. Afterwards, he proudly stated that he was solely responsible for making it happen.

However, fights between followers of the two groups became more intense leading up to the initial democratic elections.

Until he died, Buthelezi said that the ANC caused most of the violence. However, later on, it was found out that Inkatha received help from the South African military to fund groups of people who would commit attacks.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), which was made to find out the hidden wrongdoings of the apartheid time and encourage healing, blamed him of being involved in severe violations of human rights.

The allegations made people very mad.

Chief Buthelezi said he never allowed or supported violations of people’s rights. The TRC’s final report in 2003 was postponed because Buthelezi insisted on certain changes.

Many ANC activists disliked him, and he initially intended to not participate in the important 1994 elections. However, he had a last-minute change of heart and decided to participate after all. Buthelezi’s photo had to be stuck onto each voting slip because the ballot papers were already printed.

South Africa’s new constitution stated that the ANC, which won the election, must create a government with multiple political parties, sharing power temporarily until a permanent government is established.

As a result, Buthelezi was given the job of being in charge of Home Affairs. Sometimes, he would pretend to be the president when Nelson Mandela was away.

He kept his job after the 1999 elections, but his relationship with the ANC started to deteriorate again.

A disagreement about new rules for people moving to a different country resulted in an unusual event where President Thabo Mbeki sued a member of his own government.

“I don’t know of any other case where a president has sued his own minister and even tried to make him pay the legal costs personally,” Chief Buthelezi said afterwards.

After the 2004 elections, Inkatha, which changed its name to the Inkatha Freedom Party, went back to being in the minority group in the government.

Five years later, the IFP lost votes to the ANC’s new leader, Jacob Zuma, who was also Zulu.

The young members of the party in KwaZulu-Natal wanted new leaders, but they were kicked out of the party.
Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi is a prominent leader who has played a significant role in South African politics.
In 2019, Chief Buthelezi said he would not run again for the IFP presidency. He left the job after being in it for 45 years.

But he still stayed as a member of the South African parliament and traditional prime minister in a place called KwaZulu-Natal.

In his 90s, he played a key role in the fight for the Zulu royal family’s leadership after King Zwelithini died in 2021.

Buthelezi’s chosen person to become king was successful, but there was a disagreement over who would be the leader of the Ingonyama Trust Board. This led to heated arguments and fighting. The trust board takes care of large areas of land that belong to the royal family.

In 2023, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini had to deny rumors that someone had given him poison. The royal family had arguments and this caused people to hear that the king’s relationship with his chief minister was almost broken.

Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi was someone who had many different qualities and characteristics.

He was proud, liked to sue people a lot, and made impulsive decisions. He was well-known for his extremely long speeches in parliament. One of his speeches was 427 pages long and it took him over two weeks to finish.

He had a personality that could be described as intimidating. People said he was able to easily switch between being very charming and being exceptionally aggressive.

However, it was his actions and decisions during the time of apartheid that continue to cause disagreements and conflicts within South Africa.

Chief Buthelezi tried his hardest to keep his people safe from a bad government, even though he was secretly working against them.

However, his enemies will remember him as someone who held a powerful position comfortably, while “true” activists were being sent to prison, forced to leave their homeland, physically assaulted, and even killed.

The Vice President is strongly favored to secure the NPP’s nomination for the upcoming election, thanks to the overwhelming support he has garnered across all levels of the party.

  • Zulu leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi passes away at age 95

Zulu leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi passes away at age 95

Mangosuthu Buthelezi, a very important person in South African politics and a Zulu leader who spoke his mind, has passed away at the age of 95.

During the time when racial discrimination was practiced in South Africa, he started the Zulu Inkatha party because he was no longer satisfied with the African National Congress (ANC).

Many people died in fights between people who supported two different groups in the early 1990s.

But he later returned and became President Nelson Mandela‘s minister of home affairs.

Chief Buthelezi was a clever but controversial politician. He did not agree with the ANC’s ways of using weapons to fight against the rule of the white minority. Instead, he followed a more middle-of-the-road approach as the leader of a Zulu homeland.

He disagreed with global punishments on South Africa, saying that they would only hurt the black majority of the country.

Obituary: The man who caused division in South Africa.

In the fights that happened in the early 1990s, Nelson Mandela’s ANC said he was working together with the government of mostly white people.

Some people were worried that the violence could cause a civil war and disrupt the process of transitioning to a democracy, which resulted in Mandela becoming president in 1994.

A lot of people thought that the apartheid security forces were working together with the Inkatha movement to fight against the ANC. However, Buthelezi always said that this wasn’t true.

President Cyril Ramaphosa paid his respects and praised Chief Buthelezi as a strong and influential leader.

He said he had been very important in our country’s history for 70 years.

The president said that Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has been a great leader in our country’s politics and culture. He has played a significant role in our fight for freedom, the transition in 1994, and our democracy.

He said Chief Buthelezi passed away early on Saturday, two weeks after turning 95.

Chief Buthelezi was the leader of the Zulus, who are the biggest group of people in South Africa.

He was born into a royal family called the Zulu. His mother was Princess Magogo, who was the sister of the Zulu king. Chief Buthelezi acted as his own great-grandfather, who was a Zulu King named Cetshwayo, in the movie Zulu which was made in 1964.

He led a group in KwaZulu and started a political party called the Inkatha Freedom Party which was all about the Zulu people. He quit his position as the leader of the party in 2019 after being in charge for 44 years.

  • China’s latest chatbot has censorship issues

China’s latest chatbot has censorship issues

Ernie, China‘s newest sensation, often responds this way when asked “difficult” questions.

The chatbot created by Baidu, a big search engine company, avoids talking about things that are considered too risky or sensitive.

Ernie, a new technology created by Baidu to compete with ChatGPT, was launched with a lot of excitement in the past few weeks, which caused an increase in the company’s stock value. Baidu got 33. 42 million people asking questions in the first day, which is about 23,000 questions per minute.

Another big Chinese technology company, Tencent, said on Thursday that it had also created a chatbot. Currently, only certain people are allowed to access it, and it seems like this mainly applies to businesses.

However, based on Ernie’s previous performance, it is expected that Tencent’s version will also be greatly limited by China’s strict censorship. This censorship not only affects social media and chat apps, but also influences all types of online activities.

For instance, Ernie didn’t seem to understand why Xi Jinping won’t be at the next G20 meeting. It answered by sharing a link to the official page about China’s leader.

Another question was asked about the Chinese government no longer sharing information about how many young people are unemployed. The answer given was that the person didn’t know how to answer that question.

Ernie has learned to watch out for words and phrases that can cause arguments or disagreements.

So if you ask, “Are Xinjiang and Tibet good places. ” it will tell you that it doesn’t know how to answer those questions yet.

The United Nations has accused the government of doing very bad things to Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang. Rights organizations also claim that the government is oppressing Tibetan people based on their ethnicity. Beijing says both claims are not true.

It is possible that the technology still needs improvement to answer these questions completely. However, sometimes Ernie appears to be avoiding questions.

If someone asks whether Xi Jinping or his predecessor, Hu Jintao, are not feeling well, the response will be: “Let’s talk about a different topic. ”

If you mention the date when the Tiananmen Square crackdown happened, or the name of a Communist Party member who is in jail (Bo Xilai), or the name of the Chinese Nobel Peace Prize winner who died in prison (Liu Xiaobo), people might say they don’t want to discuss those topics and ask to talk about something different.

Baidu did not answer the BBC’s question about how much chatbots in China are affected by censorship.

But the CEO and co-founder of the company, Robin Li, said in an email that Baidu will gather a lot of important feedback from real people in the world. This will not only help make Baidu’s basic model better, but also make changes to Ernie Bot more quickly, resulting in a better experience for users.

The company wants to make it clear that the chatbot is just one part of their new AI services, called Ernie.

“According to Mr. Li, ERNIE 4. 0 will give entrepreneurs the ability to be the first to create innovative AI applications in today’s time. ”

The focus on giving more power to business owners suggests a potential way to use this technology.

Prof Jeffrey Ding from the George Washington University explained that China has introduced new rules for generative AI models. These rules are particularly strict for services that have the ability to impact public opinion or shape societal views.

He said that this might make companies create apps that are made specifically for businesses rather than for everyone.

Professor Ding also mentioned that because of technical issues with data reliability and research focus, there is still a considerable difference in quality between China’s models (like Ernie Bot) and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

The Chinese government said websites need to follow certain values and not share information that goes against the government’s power and unity.

Baidu has been relying on its new bot to help it make a lot of money. The company’s search engine is very popular in China and is used by more than 90% of people for their internet searches. However, it has not been doing as well as other technology companies in recent years.

Baidu lost money on advertising because people started using other platforms instead. They are also testing taxis that can drive themselves and they are the biggest company in the country that stores information on the internet, but Ernie is their new idea that they are very hopeful about.

Ernie is getting a lot of attention, but there are a few other chatbots that are already working or will be available soon.

Like in other technology battles in China, not all products will survive. However, Baidu really has to be successful in this particular situation.

‘It was complete chaos’ – earthquake survivors

The earthquake in Morocco happened at night when most people were already sleeping. But the earthquake, which was measured at 6. 8, quickly caused people to leave their homes in extreme fear.

A smaller earthquake, measuring 4. 9 magnitude, happened 19 minutes later.

More than 600 people have died, but the exact number of fatalities is still uncertain. The earthquake started in the High Atlas Mountains, but many people died in Marrakesh, which is about 44 miles from the epicentre.

Abdelhak El Amrani, a 33-year-old resident of Marrakesh, said to the AFP news agency, “We experienced a strong shaking, and I understood it was an earthquake. I saw buildings that looked like they were moving.

After that, I stepped outside and saw many people gathered there. Everyone was very surprised and scared. The kids were sobbing and the parents were extremely upset.

Michael Bizet, a person from France, who has three buildings in the old part of Marrakesh, said to AFP: “I believed my bed was going to float away. ” I walked outside with only some of my clothes on and quickly went to visit traditional Moroccan houses called riads.

“It was a complete mess, a true disaster, complete craziness. ”

British journalist Martin Jay, who lives in Morocco, said that he was woken up because he heard people screaming.

He said on BBC Radio 4’s Today show: “The first sign was when my wife started screaming. We both fell asleep, but not deeply. We were just in a light sleep, I guess. She began to shout loudly, and I slowly woke up but couldn’t understand what was happening.

“I didn’t fully understand the situation, and I couldn’t believe I was experiencing an earthquake. ”

Everything was shaking, all the things in the room – the bed, the floor, and the walls were moving back and forth.

He said that people were told not to go back to their houses.

So, in Morocco, there was a strange evening where almost everyone in the towns was sitting on the ground outside their houses or apartment buildings. They were scared because they believed another earthquake would happen two hours later. Thank goodness it didn’t happen.

Fayssal Badour, who lives in Marrakesh, was driving when the earthquake happened at 11:11 PM local time.

“I stopped and realized that it was a complete disaster,” he said to the agency. “The loud yelling and weeping were extremely difficult to endure. ”

There are ongoing attempts to rescue people, and many buildings are badly damaged.

Montasir Itri, who lives in a mountain village called Asni near the center of the earthquake, said that our neighbors are trapped under the collapsed buildings and people are doing their best to save them using what resources are available in the village.

Houda Outassaf was walking in Jemaa el-Fna Square in Marrakesh when the ground suddenly started shaking.

“He told AFP that it was an incredible feeling,” he said. “We are okay and unharmed, but I am still feeling extremely surprised and unsettled. ”

I lost at least 10 people from my family who passed away. I can hardly believe it, because I was with them just two days ago.

Tourists really like visiting the old city of Marrakesh, and that’s why thousands of them go there every year.

Lorella Palmer, a woman from Britain who was on vacation there, said to BBC News: “The room suddenly started moving. ”

“She said that your brain doesn’t quickly understand what is happening until the picture frames and bed begin to shake. ”

African Union to join G20 permanently – Modi

India’s prime minister Narendra Modi announced on Saturday that the African Union is set to join the Group of 20 (G20) as a constant member. This was revealed during a leaders’ summit in New Delhi for the world’s wealthiest nations.

In his first speech, Modi asked the African Union chair, Azali Assoumani, to become a permanent member of the group. The other leaders clapped and watched as this happened.

Modi is gathering leaders from all over the world in New Delhi. Divisions over Russia’s war in Ukraine are getting worse. He is taking charge of leading discussions on important issues like global economic concerns and the urgent need for action on the climate crisis by wealthy nations.

Modi, the president of G20, said that India wants everyone in the world to join hands and change the lack of trust between nations to trust and dependence.

Now is the time for all of us to come together. Whether it’s the differences between different regions, the distance between the East and West, how we handle food and fuel, terrorism, cyber security, health, energy or water security, we need to find a strong solution to these issues for the sake of future generations.

The African Union is a group of 55 countries in Africa that work together as one big organization.

It has been invited for a long time to the G20 meeting, along with other important global organizations such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

This action will make the African bloc a permanent member of the G20, similar to how the European Union is. This could change the name of the group to G21 and give Africa a prominent position in one of the world’s most influential global governing organizations.

Ever since Modi became the President of G20, he has been eager to show that India is a leader among other developing nations. He wants to work closely with wealthier countries to get financial support for India.

Modi has said before that he wants to include the African Union in the group.

Modi said in an interview with one of India’s biggest news agencies, Press Trust of India, that when they say they see the world as one family, they genuinely mean it.

Africa is very important to us, even when compared to other countries in the G20. When we took charge of the G20, one of the initial activities we organized was a summit called Voice of the Global South, where Africa showed great enthusiasm and participation.

  • American who was kidnapped in infancy meets mother in Chile at 42 years old

American who was kidnapped in infancy meets mother in Chile at 42 years old

Jimmy Lippert Thyden claims that from the beginning, he felt a sense of being selected to join his family rather than being naturally born into it.He also knew that he was not born in the United States, but in Chile. He grew up in Virginia with adoptive parents who loved him very much and were dedicated to him. He says he always had everything he needed. The person, who is 42 years old, used to be in the US Marines. Presently, he has taken on the role of a lawyer, entered into matrimony, and are raising two young daughters.

Thyden said that he was told that he was given up for adoption because his birth parents loved him. “My mom, who loved me and wanted the best for me, gave me a life that had lots of chances, learning, and purpose. ”

It all began to change in 2012 when his adopted mom handed him his adoption papers before he left for Afghanistan. Thyden discovered many differences and mistakes in the adoption records when he examined them carefully.

Thyden told CNN that there were different versions of a story told by three or four people, and these versions were so different that not all of them could be true.

There was a paper that said he didn’t have a known mom or dad. Another person gave the name of a woman who is the mother, and also told where she lives. Another paper said that the baby does not have any family members who are alive, and a different paper said that he was given away to another family shortly after he was born. Another paper stated that he was abandoned and put up for adoption when he was two years old.

For a long time, Thyden was curious about where he came from. He wanted to learn more but didn’t know how to start or who to ask for help in Chile.

Thyden says he only started looking into the truth about his adoption a few months ago, after his wife told him about Scott Lieberman’s case.

CNN said in May that Lieberman, a 42-year-old American from San Francisco, was adopted from Chile and recently discovered that he was taken as a baby without his consent. This is how Thyden found out about a Chilean organization called “Nos Buscamos” (We Search for Each Other). They help people who were taken as babies to find their biological parents and families.

During the time when General Augusto Pinochet was in charge, from 1973 to 1990, a lot of babies were sent to adoption agencies. Some of the kids came from rich families, who often gave away babies born to unmarried parents. Some babies who were born into less wealthy families were taken away without permission.

During the past ten years, CNN has recorded several instances where babies from Chile were taken away shortly after being born. Officials in the country say that religious leaders, medical professionals, and others worked together to do illegal adoptions in order to make money.

Chilean authorities think there might be thousands of babies that were taken by force, but the investigation into these adoptions has not made much progress. Some people involved in the illegal adoptions have passed away. Many clinics or hospitals where the babies were said to be taken from are no longer there.

After contacting “Nos Buscamos,” Thyden received an email the following day from the director, Constanza del Río, instructing him to call her immediately. She recommended getting a DNA test, and he did it on April 17th. Thyden found a match through MyHeritage, an online company that helps with family history, in a short time. When del Río found the match, she knew she had to call María Angélica González. For a long time, González thought her son had died not long after he was born.

She was unable to accept it. She believed it was a bad joke because someone had told her that her baby boy had died earlier than expected,” del Río explained. Del Río explains that González was informed that the baby’s body was thrown away in the garbage. During the time when Pinochet was in power and many people were killed or went missing, it was risky to ask too many questions or protest loudly. Chile will remember the 50th anniversary of the takeover that made Pinochet the ruler on September 11.

Thyden has had mixed feelings upon discovering the truth. He is glad to finally find out where he really comes from, but he feels sad about the difficult experiences his birth mother had.

“She didn’t know about me because I was taken away from her as soon as I was born. She was told that I had died, and when she wanted to see my body, she was told that it had been thrown away. ” We have never touched or embraced each other,” Thyden said.

After waiting for a long time, he finally went to Chile to hug his real mother, whom he hadn’t seen for 42 years. When they saw each other in the southern city of Valdivia in the middle of August, he finally managed to say the words he had been practicing for weeks. “Hello, mom,” he said when they finally hugged.

I am 42 years old and I am going to meet her, hug her, and hold her for the first time ever. “That doesn’t seem natural. ” Thyden said later, thinking back on that moment. It made me confront and come to terms with the mistakes that were made. And then, if you get to know her, you will surely love her. She is a kind, compassionate, affectionate woman who believes in faith. It’s hard to believe that someone would hurt her, especially when she is such a small, loving, and innocent person.

When he arrived in Valdivia, he met his whole family and they planned a special birthday party for him ahead of time. There were 42 balloons representing the 42 years that he couldn’t have a birthday party with his real family. As each person appeared, the family that he didn’t know he had called out the numbers: one, two, three.

Thyden later explained that they felt like they were a missing puzzle piece that had been lost for 42 years. When they finally found their place, it felt completely normal, as if no time had passed at all.

According to Thyden, finding out the truth has been difficult because his adoptive parents were also deceived and hurt. He says his adoptive parents spoke to a adoption agency in Virginia and requested to legally adopt a child through a good agency. They even wrote this request down.

They did not think at all that they were buying a child. “He said they would never have done that. ”

When asked what could have happened, Thyden says we cannot know for sure.

I had a moment in my life where I had to choose between going left or right at a T intersection. Instead of turning right, it turned left. Instead of driving or sitting in the car and knowing what was happening, I was the baby inside the trunk,” Thyden explained.

I acknowledge and appreciate that I am fortunate to have loving families from different parts of the world. But I didn’t know that I wouldn’t have become a lawyer. I may have served in the military, but I’m not sure. Did I do those things because of where I was or because they are a part of who I am. Thyden explained that he uses the words “mom” or “mother” for his American adoptive mother and “mamá” for his biological mother from Chile.

Finally, he reveals that his five-year-old daughter provided him with the understanding of what happened to him. She told him that if something bad hadn’t occurred, she wouldn’t exist. She told her father that he has not just one, but two families who love him very much.

The UK branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has advised exercising caution in the handling of Alan Kyerematen’s departure from the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primary.

Kwame Owusu Achaiw, a prominent communicator, cautions that if not managed properly, the NDC could encounter an unforeseen challenge in the 2024 election.

The unsuccessful contenders are currently discussing whom to support on November 4, but I would need to consult my supporters first – Kwadwo Poku.

The Campaign Team confidently predicts that Kennedy Agyapong will secure a one-touch victory in the November 4 presidential primary.

The NDC communicator views Alan Cash’s withdrawal from the race as a politically strategic maneuver.

He explained to Daniel Dadson, the host of Frontline on Rainbow Radio 92.4FM in the United Kingdom, that Alan’s withdrawal is part of his collaboration with Kennedy Agyapong.

He further clarified that plans for Alan to partner with Kennedy Agyapong, should Kennedy be elected as the NPP’s presidential candidate, are well underway.

Eventually, he believes the pair will challenge the NDC.

“The NDC should exercise caution in the cases of Alan, Bawumia, and Ken. The NDC should exercise caution. Make a note of it somewhere; if Ken wins the race, he will partner with Alan. That is the strategy. That is the main reason Alan dropped out of the race,” he explained.

“Kennedy Agyapong and Alan have formed an alliance. If and only if Ken wins the race, he will team up with Alan.”

When asked if the partnership would jeopardise the NDC’s return to power, he replied, “I will say yes or no. There is a threat between Ken and Alan. But I don’t want to waste my time on Bawumia. The NDC should exercise extreme caution with Ken and Alan. It won’t be easy if we run in the election with these two. We will win, but it will be a close call.”

China accused by Philippines of engaging in ‘dangerous manoeuvres’

The Philippines claims that Chinese vessels are engaging in dangerous maneuvers within a disputed region of the South China Sea.This is the most recent disagreement between the two countries in that area.

The Philippine coast guard said on Friday that while they were near Ayungin Shoal, also called Ren’ai Reef by China, doing their usual rotation and resupply work, eight Chinese boats came close to them.

It said that the Chinese boats put the safety of the Philippine crew members at risk, but it didn’t explain how. It said that the situation included four ships from the Chinese coast guard and four ships from the Chinese “maritime militia. ”

Experts who specialize in marine security in the West think that Beijing controls a large group of boats called a maritime militia. This group helps China claim territories in the South China Sea and other areas, and can be denied by the Chinese government if needed.

The Philippines says that the militia has been involved in both of the most recent events at Ayungin Shoal, which is also called Second Thomas Shoal.

China has not admitted that this militia is real.

After the latest problem, the coast guard of the Philippines contacted the coast guard of China and asked them to stop any illegal activities in the waters of the Philippines right away.

Beijing says it has complete control over almost all of the South China Sea, which is 1. 3 million square miles in size. It also says it owns most of the islands in the sea. This means that there is a group of small islands called the Spratlys. These islands are claimed by many countries including the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, and Taiwan.

Manila also refers to a portion of the area as the West Philippine Sea. In 1999, it purposely ran aground a navy transport ship called the BRP Sierra Madre on Second Thomas Shoal. The ship was staffed by Filipino marines, and it was done to support the country’s ownership of the area.

In reply to the recent conflict, the Chinese coast guard made a statement on Friday, blaming the Philippines for going into the area without permission.

The statement said that two ships from the Philippines, used to supply goods, and two ships from the Philippine coast guard went into the waters near Ren’ai Reef in China’s Nansha Islands without permission from the Chinese government.

China says that it definitely owns the Nansha Islands and the nearby waters. They are also against the Philippines bringing illegal materials to the warships on the beach.

Manila says it has the right to the South China Sea, and a court in the Hague agreed with them in 2016, saying China does not have a legal reason to claim most of it as their own.

Beijing didn’t listen to the decision and says that the Philippines promised to take away the vessel. The President of the Philippines is Ferdinand Marcos Jr. He said his government never made that promise.

  • More than 600 people killed in a violent and rare earthquake in Morocco

More than 600 people killed in a violent and rare earthquake in Morocco

Local reports indicate that a powerful earthquake took place in Morocco on Friday night, resulting in the tragic loss of life for a minimum of 632 individuals. Over 300 people were also injured.

People who live in Marrakech, which is the closest big city to the center of the event, reported that certain buildings in the old city, a place recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, had fallen down.

Moroccan TV showed pictures of a mosque tower that had fallen down. The tower caused rubble to fall onto cars and damage them.

Worried families gathered in the streets or huddled on the sidewalk, some holding their children, blankets, or other things, afraid of more aftershocks.

A very strong earthquake destroys buildings in Marrakech, Morocco.
Rescue workers searched for people alive in the remains of buildings, using their bright yellow vests to light up the dark scene at night.

The earthquake caused a big hole in a house, and a car was almost buried under the pieces of a collapsed building.

Baskets, buckets, and clothes were visible among scattered rocks in the remains of a building.
Montasir Itri, a person who lives in the mountain village of Asni close to the center, said that most houses in the village were harmed.

He said that our neighbors are trapped under the collapsed building and people in the village are working really hard to save them using whatever they can.

To the west, close to Taroudant, a teacher named Hamid Afkar said that he had to leave his house because of the earthquake and could still feel smaller tremors afterwards.

The ground moved for about 20 seconds. “He said that as he quickly went downstairs from the second floor, doors opened and closed on their own. ”

Morocco’s geophysical center reported that a strong earthquake happened in the Ighil area of the High Atlas. The earthquake had a magnitude of 7. 2

The earthquake in the US is measured to be 6. 8 in magnitude, and it was relatively close to the surface, about 11. 5 miles deep

Ighil is a place with mountains and small villages where people farm. It is located about 40 miles in the southwest direction from Marrakech. The earthquake happened a little after 11pm nearby.
The recent earthquake in Morocco is the most deadly one since another earthquake happened in 2004 near Al Hoceima in the northern Rif mountains, causing the death of over 600 people.

More pictures shared on the internet displayed people running and shouting near the famous Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech, which was built a long time ago.

The news in Morocco said that the mosque got damaged, but we don’t know how bad it is yet. The 226-foot tall tower in Marrakech is called the ‘roof of Marrakech’.

Moroccan people shared videos of the damaged red walls around the old city in Marrakech, which is a special place recognized by UNESCO.

The leader of a town close to where the earthquake happened said that many houses in nearby towns were destroyed or severely damaged, and some areas lost power and had blocked roads.

Abderrahim Ait Daoud, who is in charge of Talat N’Yaaqoub, said that authorities are trying to make the roads in Al Haouz Province clear so that ambulances and aid can reach the affected people. However, the villages in the mountains are far apart, so it will take some time to know how much damage has occurred.

Local news sources said that the roads going to the mountain area near the center were full of cars and blocked with rocks that had fallen, which made it harder for rescuers to reach the area quickly.

Earthquakes don’t happen very often in North Africa.

Lahcen Mhanni, who is in charge of monitoring earthquakes, said on 2M TV that the earthquake in the mountain region was the biggest one ever observed.

In 1960, a big earthquake happened close to the city of Agadir in Morocco and many people died.

The earthquake in Agadir caused Morocco to make changes in the rules for construction. However, many buildings, especially rural homes, are not made strong enough to handle these kinds of earthquakes.

In 2004, a very strong earthquake happened near the city of Al Hoceima by the Mediterranean Sea. It caused over 600 people to die.

The earthquake on Friday could be felt in Portugal and Algeria, as reported by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere and Algeria’s Civil Defense agency, which is in charge of emergency response.

Pratt suggests options for Alan Kyerematen after withdrawing from the NPP race

Managing Editor of Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has highlighted four potential political paths for Alan Kyerematen following his withdrawal from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.

Pratt emphasized the importance of Kyerematen making a prompt decision to prevent the dispersion of his efforts and to provide clarity to his supporters regarding his future plans.

Pratt suggested four among several options for the former flagbearer aspirant to solidify his political presence within the party and the nation.

    Here are the options:

    a. Withdraw from the party and contest as an independent candidate knowing that he could push the election into a runoff and become kingmaker of Ghana

    b. He can put his full weight behind one of the four remaining candidates in the race

    c. He can decide not to contest for presidency “and just stay and watch which has its meaning and implications,” Pratt submitted.

    d. He can decide to form his own political party

IGP withdraws from leaked tape officers’ disciplinary process – Report

Inspector-General (IGP) of Police George Akuffo Dampare has opted out of upcoming disciplinary proceedings involving three officers implicated in a plot to remove him from office. The officers in question are COP George Alex Mensah, Supt George Asare, and Supt Emmanuel Gyebi.

Reportedly, the IGP will not participate in any meetings related to these proceedings at the Police Management Board (POMAB) or the Police Council. Notably, Dampare serves as the head of POMAB and is also a member of the Police Council, presided over by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

The police service encountered a tumultuous week as additional evidence, including videos and audio recordings, emerged regarding the plot against the IGP. Initially, the service announced the suspension of the three officers linked to the initial leaked tape, despite an ongoing parliamentary inquiry. This decision faced substantial criticism, given the active parliamentary probe.

However, 24 hours later, the police reversed their decision to suspend the trio. In a statement dated September 7, 2023, the service explained that it was retracting the interdiction of COP George Alex Mensah, Supt George Asare, and Supt Emmanuel Gyebi to avoid interfering with the ongoing parliamentary investigation into the matter.

“In order not to prejudice the ongoing probe, the Police Administration has suspended their interdiction,” the statement, signed by ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police, said.

The statement further mentioned its intent to initiate inquiries through disciplinary proceedings into the involvement of the three officers featured in the leaked audio.

The Ghana Police Service had earlier issued a statement interdicting the three officers, explaining it was “to make way for disciplinary proceedings into their conduct in line with police service regulations”.

The name Riot follows a tradition of starting with the letter “R” and may be inspired by A$AP Rocky’s recent song “Riot,” featuring Pharrell Williams.

As expected, the child’s odd name has sparked a lot of discussion on social media.

A woman due labor stays at Beyoncé concert until show’s end

Amidst a surprise twist, choreographer Sarah Francis Jones refused to let an unplanned labor hinder her enjoyment of Beyoncé’s Los Angeles concert. Her spouse, actor Marcel Spears, captured this unforgettable instance. Dressed in a silver outfit and headband, Jones danced to the music until labor pains forced her to sit. Several hours later, she welcomed a healthy baby daughter.

To share this remarkable experience with their followers, her husband posted footage of Jones giving birth in the delivery room. He later introduced their newborn daughter, Nola. Jones joined the fun by sharing another video capturing this emotional moment, cheekily noting in the caption, “Turns out we were having a whole baby at @Beyoncé bday show.”

The delighted parents shared with local news outlets that their unexpected journey began shortly after a lively segment of Beyoncé’s concert known as the “mute challenge.” This challenge unfolded during the singer’s rendition of the song “Energy” from the Renaissance album. During this challenge, the audience was instructed to fall silent after the lyrics, “Look around everybody on mute,” as reported by the New York Post.

Jones, who wasn’t due for another week, initially dismissed her contractions as possibly Braxton Hicks contractions. However, it didn’t take long for her to realize that something significant was happening. She recounted, “Usually, I love to dance at concerts, but I thought, ‘I think I need to take a seat for a moment.’”

Upon leaving the concert venue at its conclusion, they came to the realization that it was not a false alarm, and Jones was indeed going into labor. Spears pointed out that the most intense contractions occurred during Beyoncé’s song “Virgo’s Groove” from the Renaissance album. They promptly headed to the hospital, where Jones gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

The couple is currently in search of a middle name for their baby Nora and wouldn’t mind selecting something with a Beyoncé-inspired flair. Jones isn’t the only concert attendee who has recently experienced going into labor during a live performance. In July, 28-year-old Taylor Swift fan Tori Hedges also went into labor during the singer’s Eras tour in Ohio.

  • Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 83, to run for office again

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 83, to run for office again

Nancy Pelosi, who used to be in charge of the US House of Representatives, plans to run for re-election next year in November.

Mrs Pelosi, who is 83 years old, was chosen by the people in her San Francisco area to represent them in 1987. She then had two separate times when she was the leader, called the speaker, from 2007 to 2011 and from 2019 to 2023.

She was in charge of the Democrats in the House of Representatives for twenty years before stepping down as leader when the Republicans won last year’s election.

Her choice to run again is likely to start debate again about how old US political leaders should be.

Ms Pelosi wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, that our City needs us to advance San Francisco values and continue our recovery.

Our country wants America to demonstrate to the world that our flag is still flying, representing freedom and fairness for everyone. That’s why I want to be elected again – and kindly ask for your vote.

Mrs Pelosi is the first woman ever to be the speaker of the House in the United States. She has been very important in either helping or stopping the plans of many presidents.

She is given a lot of recognition for helping to pass the important healthcare law under former President Barack Obama, as well as laws about building things like roads and dealing with climate change under current President Joe Biden.

Mrs Pelosi openly disagreed with Donald Trump during his time as president, and she became well-known for tearing up a copy of his State of the Union address while he wasn’t looking.

She resigned as the leader of the Democratic party when the Republicans won back control of the House of Representatives in the election last year. Kevin McCarthy was chosen as the speaker of the House after a long selection process.

The choice to leave the highest position has caused people to think that she might retire after the 2024 midterm election.

But according to the US media, she told her top advisers and activists at a morning meal on Friday that she plans to run for another term as an official before officially announcing it later.

She decided to run for a 19th term in office as the country thinks about how old its top politicians are getting.

Joe Biden, the President of the United States, will be 81 years old when he attempts to get re-elected next year. His expected competitor, previous President Donald Trump, will be 78 years old.

Some people are wondering if Mitch McConnell, the highest-ranking Republican in the Senate, should step down. This is because he seemed to freeze again at a media event last week, which is the second time it has happened in a little over a month.

Most surveys show that most Americans, about three-quarters of them, support age limits for people who work in the White House and Congress.

About the same number of people are worried that Mr. Biden’s age might affect his physical and mental abilities, CNN reports.

  • Air strike in Somalia reportedly kills civilians

Seven innocent people, including an elderly woman and five young kids, were reportedly killed in central Somalia when a military attack intended to hit extremist fighters went wrong.

The Somali government said it killed three important al-Shabab members in a village called El Garas.

Sonna, the Somali National News agency, said that the attack was well-planned and had a strong impact on al-Shabab.

The government found and followed the three people who were killed. They went into a regular person’s house to hide from the attack.

However, the government refused to accept blame for the harm caused to non-military people.

Al-Shabab group put bombs in a regular person’s house, and this caused the deaths of people who did nothing wrong, said Abdirahman Yusuf, the deputy information minister of Somalia, in an interview with the BBC.

Ahmed Nur Mohamud is the husband of a 60-year-old woman named Kaha Warsame. She, along with her grandchildren, died in the attack. He said he was about 1 kilometer (or 1,100 yards) away from the house when the bombing occurred. He was with his second wife and their children.

“I attempted to give them a call, but their phones were turned off,” Ahmed Nur remembers. I was scared to go inside my family’s house at 3 in the morning because there were soldiers from the government there. I reached the house late and found out that the government had taken the dead bodies with them.

I saw two bombs hit my family. He said that one person was on their hut and another person was on the goat’s shelter.

People told the BBC that they saw the Somali army taking dead bodies out of the house. In addition, a government official told the BBC that the Somali soldiers came to the place after the bombing.

Ahmed Nur wants to see the bodies of his wife and grandchildren so he can have a sense of closure.

We are regular people and have never had any connection or involvement with al-Shabab. I want to have the bodies of my family so that I can bury them properly. “I want to be paid for the damages done to my family member,” he said.

Turkish crypto executive sentenced to 11,196 years in jail

A person from Turkey who is in charge of a digital currency and his two brothers have been sent to prison for a very long time, each serving 11,196 years. They did this because they stole lots of money from people who had invested in their business.

Faruk Fatih Ozer, who is 29 years old, ran away to Albania in 2021 when his Thodex exchange crashed unexpectedly and took the money invested by people.

He was sent back to Turkey in June and was found guilty of moving illegal money, tricking people, and being part of a criminal group.

Ozer said in court that if he had intended to commit a crime, he would not have acted in such an unprofessional way, according to the news.

“I can lead any organization in the world because I am intelligent,” as reported by the Anadolu agency.

“It can clearly be seen in this company I started when I was 22 years old. ”

The short trial in Istanbul also decided that his sister Serap and brother Guven are also guilty of the same accusations.

Turkish news agencies reported that the people accused were given separate punishments for many crimes against 2,027 individuals, resulting in the total number of years in the sentence.

Long prison terms like this are normal in Turkey since they got rid of the death penalty in 2004.

Adnan Oktar, a religious leader with a TV show, was sent to prison in 2022 for a really long time (8,658 years) for tricking people and committing sexual crimes. Ten people who follow him were given the same punishment.

Prosecutors wanted Ozer to go to jail for a really long time, about 40,562 years, according to AFP.

Turks started using cryptocurrencies to protect themselves from the falling value of their currency, the lira, which started about two years ago.

Thodex was started in 2017 and became one of the biggest platforms in the country for trading virtual currencies.

Ozer became well-known across the country for being very talented with finances. He succeeded in becoming part of the influential group of people who supported the government by making friends with important figures.

However, the platform unexpectedly fell apart in April 2021. The money that the investor had is gone and Ozer is now hiding.

He got arrested in Albania last year because Interpol wanted him. He was sent back to his home country after a long legal process.

Turkish news outlets said that Ozer ran away with assets valued at $2 billion.

The prosecutor’s charges say that Thodex investors have lost 356 million liras in total.

That sum of money was valued at about $43 million when the exchange crashed.

The value of the same amount has increased to about $13 million due to rapid inflation and the decline of the lira in international markets.

Netizens remember Suzzy Williams, 18 years after her death

Today marks 18 years since Ghana lost one of its beloved actresses, Suzzy Williams, who tragically lost her life on September 8, 2005.

The fatal accident took place on the La-Teshie Nungua Highway in Accra around 1:30 a.m. as she was traveling in a Mitsubishi Pajero with her boyfriend, Edwin Eastman, a member of the Liberian R&B group Soul Black.

Initially, Edwin Eastman had informed the police that Suzzy was driving when the accident occurred. However, it was later revealed that he was, in fact, behind the wheel when the tragic incident unfolded.

Suzzy Williams, known for her captivating and sometimes daring roles in films, was just 23 years old at the time of her untimely death. Her passing was a profound loss to the Ghanaian film industry, as she had gained widespread popularity not only in Ghana but also in other African countries.

She had graced the screens in numerous productions, including the renowned Suncity television series, Tentacles, Calamity, The Comforter, Mother’s Heart, and Bloody Mary.

On social media, many have come forward to express their condolences and reminisce about their favorite actress.

“Rest easy my baby,” one user posted. “May her soul keep resting in peace,” another shared.

One person recalled, “She is the only celebrity whose demise made me cry.”

PM charged with abandoning UK citizen to starve in Indian prison

Rishi Sunak has been accused of not helping Jagtar Singh Johal, who is stuck in jail in India, because the Foreign Office decided not to get involved in the situation.

MrJohal’s brother Gurpeet stated that the government did not have the determination to bring him back.

A man from Dumbarton is in trouble and might be sentenced to death. He has been held in India since 2017.

Mr Sunak is currently in Delhi for the G20 Summit. However, he has decided not to promise that he will discuss the matter with the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

In a letter to Mr. Johal’s local representative, Martin Docherty-Hughes, Foreign Office minister Lord Ahmad stated that after thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of asking for Mr. Johal to be freed and how effective it would be, they do not think it would be in his best interest.

“With Mr Johal’s trial happening now, we think that making this request could be seen as getting involved in the Indian legal process. This might put our ability to help Mr Johal in his case at risk. ”

Lord Ahmad also mentioned that the UK government will keep expressing its worries to India. They also visit Mr Johal regularly to ensure he is doing well.

Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said the same thing in July when he wrote to Mr. Johal’s family, explaining why the UK would not ask for his freedom.

The Member of Parliament for West Dunbartonshire, Mr. Docherty-Hughes, said that the prime minister decided to prioritize a trade deal over the life of a British citizen. He also ignored a reasonable request made by more than 70 of his fellow MPs.

Earlier this week, a group of Members of Parliament from different political parties asked Mr. Sunak to get involved in the situation while he was in Delhi.

MrJohal, a 36 year-old advocate for the rights of Sikhs, went to India in October 2017 to get married.

MPs say that after they arrested him, the interrogators shocked him with electricity and threatened to pour gasoline on him and set him on fire.

Jagtar made videos of himself talking and signed blank papers to stop the torture.

The Indian authorities have said that these accusations are not true.

The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention said that he was singled out because he had asked for “responsibility to be taken for supposed mistreatment of Sikhs by the government”.

He is currently accused of planning to commit eight murders that are connected to political violence in India.

In an interview with the BBC, Gurpreet Johal, the lawyer and Labour councillor who is the brother of Mr. Johal, said that Lord Ahmad expressed worry about the situation, but lacked the ability to take effective action.

“They claim the situation is important and they are trying to find a solution, but they keep delaying it by giving me a less experienced government official. ”

I am tired of being told that the government cannot do anything.

My brother has been gone from our family for six years now. The prime minister and foreign secretary are not making enough effort to bring an innocent British person back from an Indian jail. As a result, this person is being left to suffer for longer than necessary.

During the plane journey to Delhi, when someone asked if he would talk about the case, Mr. Sunak replied: “I will discuss various things with Prime Minister Modi – just to reassure people, this matter has already been brought up multiple times at different levels. ”

Tanzanian and Kenyan presidents joke about their language skills

Kenyans and Tanzanians on social media are arguing playfully about their presidents’ comments on who is better at speaking Swahili.

Swahili is the main language spoken in two countries in East Africa. Kenyans are often made fun of for not speaking Swahili properly, while Tanzanians are made fun of for not speaking English well.

At a recent meeting about farming and food in Tanzania, President Samia Hassan scolded the Kenyan President William Ruto for not using the right greetings in Swahili language.

The other day, Mr. Ruto visited us and taught us to say ‘jambo’, but the correct way to greet is ‘habari ya mchana’. “They are Kenyan people. we should make them take Swahili lessons,” she said in Swahili.

But CNN reporter Larry Madowo, who is also from Kenya and was leading the discussion, defended their president.

I have to support and protect my president. Because Kenyans and Tanzanians are like siblings, we speak to Tanzanians using poor Swahili and they respond to us using poor English. We continue doing this, just like it’s the truth,” he said in Swahili, and the audience laughed loudly.

The exchange showed that the neighboring countries have a friendly relationship and similar culture.

At a press conference, they said they are fighting for the freedom of people called “political detainees” and for a fair presidential election that includes everyone.

They had planned to have a peaceful protest this Friday in the center of Senegal’s capital city. However, the governor of Dakar forbade the movement from holding their rally.

    I won’t rush India-UK trade agreement – Sunak

Rishi Sunak , who is currently in India for a G20 summit, mentioned that he will take his time before finalizing a trade agreement between the UK and India.

The UK prime minister said the negotiations, which started in early last year, would not have a set end date.

People are increasingly hopeful that an agreement could be reached before the year ends.

Mr Sunak said to reporters that we have made some progress, but we haven’t reached our goal yet.

India and the UK have not yet made a trade agreement since the UK left the European Union’s trading system in 2021. If they do, India would be the largest country to do so.

Mr Sunak is going to India to attend a meeting with leaders from the biggest economies in the world called the G20.

There is no plan for a UK-India agreement, but Mr. Sunak is expected to talk about what has happened until now with his Indian partner Narendra Modi during the summit this weekend.

He received a warm welcome when he arrived in Delhi on Friday. People greeted him with traditional dancers and music as he got off his plane.

Later on, he met some kids from a nearby school along with his wife Akshata Murty. She is the daughter of a very rich person who helped start a big technology company in India called Infosys.

Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty had a meeting with children from a nearby school at the British Council.

The two countries started talking about trading with each other in January last year. They have had twelve meetings about it so far, and the next one will happen later this month.

The UK wants India to reduce the high import taxes it imposes on British cars, dairy products, and drinks like Scotch whisky.

The UK wants India to let more UK financial and professional services companies work in India.

However,Sunak is being urged not to make it easier for Indian people to obtain visas in the UK. Reports suggest that the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, is worried that this could make it harder to reduce overall immigration numbers.
    Difficulty obtaining visa

Before the summit, the UK government stated that they would not give more student visas in order to make an agreement. The Prime Minister’s spokesperson also said that they do not intend to change their rules for immigration.

India’s ambassador to the UK has made it clear that India is not seeking additional visas. However, he did express a desire for Indian students studying in the UK to be allowed to gain practical work experience once they complete their studies.

Vikram Doraiswami said that Indian students are paying a lot of money to study in UK universities and they want the same rights as students from other countries.

He said India also wants to make it simpler for companies from both countries to temporarily move their workers, and for Indians working in the UK for short periods to be able to bring back their pension contributions to India.

“He said that we do not want migrants to be able to come here. They have been talking about this in your press, not in ours. ”
The Diwali deadline was not met.

The previous Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, wanted to make a deal with India before October last year, in time for Diwali. However, he lost his position as Prime Minister in July and the deadline passed without a deal being made.

There are reports that Mr Modi wants to make a smaller deal to lower import taxes and make it easier for service companies to do business, before the election next year.

Mr Sunak recently talked to reporters and said that he has made sure to prioritize international negotiations that benefit the people of Britain since he became a part of the government.

“He said he won’t hurry things just for the sake of it, but will wait until they are right for us. ”

“Nigeria Election nah by who rugged pass” – Davido

Nigerian music superstar Davido has expressed his perspective on the political landscape in Nigeria. He believes that only those with a strong and resilient character can emerge victorious in elections.

Sharing his sentiment on his social media platform, he posted, “Nigeria Election nah by who rugged pass.”

A curious fan joined the conversation by asking if Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, had also achieved success through sheer ruggedness.

The fan, using the handle @chief_ochuko, wrote in the comment section,“Na ruggedity ur uncle take win Abi?”

Davido responded succinctly with, “Men mount,” confirming that indeed, rugged individuals were in support of his uncle.

Davido’s statement comes at a time when President Bola Tinubu has secured legal victories at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), with several petitions challenging his election win being dismissed by the court.

His comment underscores the belief that determination and tenacity are influential factors in the outcome of elections in Nigeria.

This comment in Pigin implied that “The Nigerian election is determined by who is more resilient.”

  • ‘Nuclear assault submarine’ lunched by Kim Jong Un

‘Nuclear assault submarine’ lunched by Kim Jong Un

Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, recently attended an event where a new submarine was shown to the public. The North Korean government claims that this submarine has the ability to launch nuclear weapons.

The media of the government said that the submarine greatly improved the country’s ability to protect itself with nuclear weapons.

It is called Hero Kim Kun Ok because of a North Korean naval officer and important person from history.

North Korea has wanted to build a submarine that can shoot nuclear weapons for a while.

In pictures shown by the government, Mr. Kim is standing in a place where they make ships, with naval officers around him. There is a very big black submarine next to him that is much bigger than him.

He said that the sub will be one of the navy’s main ways to attack underwater.

“He said that the nuclear attack submarine used to represent aggression towards our country in the past. But now it represents our strong and intimidating power that scares our enemies who don’t play fair. ”
But some people are doubtful about how well it will work.

Experts think that the submarine is an old model from the Soviet Union called Romeo-class, which Mr. Kim examined in 2019. However, it has been changed so that it can now transport nuclear weapons.

Joseph Dempsey, who works at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, stated that the platform has some basic limitations and weaknesses.

According to Vann Van Diepen, a former US government weapons expert, the characteristics of these weapons are being loud, not fast and having a short distance they can reach.

Mr Dempsey said that it seems like the back and the things that make the sub move have been made unclear so that it is not obvious that it is an old ship.

We are not sure if this submarine is working. The North Koreans have not shown that they can successfully launch missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

It’s believed that the ship is made to carry short-range missiles that can be launched from submarines. These missiles can hit targets in nearby areas.

South Korea has criticized the launch and is unsure if the North’s submarine is actually as powerful as claimed.

Japan has also shown worry or discomfort. According to Reuters, Hirokazu Matsuno, the Chief Cabinet Secretary, said that North Korea’s military activity is now a bigger and more immediate threat to our country’s security than it was before.
North Korea has been doing a lot of tests with missiles this year. They have been testing both ballistic and cruise missiles regularly. They have been testing even more than before in 2022.

The submarine was discovered a few days before the 75th anniversary of the North’s establishment. Government-controlled media outlets have announced that China will send a group of representatives to join in the festivities.

This news also comes after hearing that Mr. Kim is planning to go to Russia this month to meet with President Vladimir Putin.

There is worry that North Korea might ask Moscow for advanced weapons technology in exchange for something.
People went to an event that North Korean state media said was the country’s ceremony for introducing a new submarine that can launch nuclear attacks.

  • Rapper barred in Tanzania for composing ‘provocative’ song

Rapper barred in Tanzania for composing ‘provocative’ song

Tanzanian officials have stopped rapper Emmanuel Elibariki, famous as Nay wa Mitego, from performing in the country. This is because his new song criticizes the government.

The rapper was asked a lot of questions by the police in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday. He was accused of encouraging people to do bad things. His lawyer, Jebra Kambole, said on Thursday that he was let go after paying bail money.

The song Amkeni, which means wake up in Swahili, is very critical of the leaders in the country. It includes a line that seems to accuse the president of supporting thieves and not keeping her promises.

It is also not happy about the government’s agreement with a company from the United Arab Emirates to build and manage Tanzania’s port operations.

The lawyer told the BBC that the artist is being accused of inciting trouble by both the country’s arts regulator, Basata, and the police.

“Basata received complaints about the song, saying that it has offensive words. Not only that, they have prohibited the song and banned him from performing in Tanzania,” explained Mr.

The lawyer said they had told the police why the song “is not encouraging” by saying that it talks about corruption, misuse of power, and the port.

“The song is not meant to provoke people. Its purpose is to highlight the administration’s flaws and the intention is to educate or set things right,” he said.

The artist has been in trouble with the authorities before. He has been arrested and released many times in the past because of his songs that criticize different national problems.

  • Mali river boat attack claimed dozens of lives

Mali river boat attack claimed dozens of lives

Islamist militants in Mali have attacked a boat in the northeastern part of the country. The interim government reports that at least 49 innocent people have been killed in the attack.

They also supposedly attacked a military camp, causing the death of 15 soldiers, and approximately 50 militants are believed to have died.

The government has announced that everyone in the country will be sad and remember someone for three days.

The threat from Islamist militants has been increasing, even though the military says that Russian Wagner Group mercenaries are helping to change the situation in their favor.

The city of Timbuktu in the north has been blocked off since the end of last month, and there have been other recent attacks on transportation.

The BBC could not check if the government’s recent report, which was read on TV, was true.

A group of fighters attacked the boat while it was sailing on the River Niger from Gao to Mopti. The river is an important way for transportation in an area with not many good roads or train tracks.

Another group of fighters also launched an assault on a military base located in the Bourem Circle of the Gao region.

The Malian army shared on social media that a boat was attacked by “armed terrorist groups” around 1100 GMT.

The group called Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), which is connected to al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attack on the military camp. However, they have not mentioned anything about the attack on the boat. It is one of many groups that follow Islamic beliefs and operate in the northern part of Mali and nearby countries.

The boat company, Comanav, told AFP news agency that the ship was hit by three rockets that were aimed at its engines.

The boat was stuck on the river and the military came to help people leave, said an official from Comanav (a company), who wanted to stay anonymous.

Since 2020, Mali has been governed by a group of military leaders.

Many people were in favor of the military taking control after large protests against the President. People were angry because they weren’t sure what would happen with the economy, the election was being argued about, and there was a lot of ongoing insecurity.

Afterward, information shows that Mali’s military government hasn’t made much progress in its efforts to fight against the Islamists who are in control of certain areas in the country.

The military leaders in Mali have told French troops and UN peacekeepers to leave the country. They have also asked Russian workers to come and take their place.

A rebel group connected to al-Qaeda and Islamic State started in the northern part of Mali in 2012. Extremist fighters who follow Islam have expanded their influence, moving throughout the Sahel area and particularly to Burkina Faso and Niger.

  • Apple shares decline following news of iPhone ban in China

Apple shares decline following news of iPhone ban in China

Apple’s stock has gone down for two consecutive days due to news that Chinese government employees are not allowed to use iPhones.

The value of the company’s stocks in the stock market has decreased by more than 6%, which is almost $200 billion or £160 billion, in the last two days.

China is the third-biggest market for the technology giant. It made up 18% of the total money the company earned last year.

Most of Apple’s products are made in China by its largest supplier Foxconn.

The Wall Street Journal recently said that officials working for the Chinese government have been told not to bring iPhones to work or use them for their job.

The next day, Bloomberg News said that the ban may also apply to employees working at businesses owned by the government or supported by the government.

According to sources, officials were told not to use iPhones by their bosses recently. Other devices from foreign brands also had limitations placed on them.

Some agencies had already banned iPhones, according to the paper. But now, it seems like more agencies have decided to ban them as well.

It is unclear how well the instructions were shared with Chinese officials.

The reports were shared before the iPhone 15 is released on September 12th.

On Chinese social media, some individuals claiming to work for government-owned companies said they were instructed to stop using Apple devices before September ends. Someone made a joke that they were poor and could not afford to buy a new phone. They wondered what they should use for work.

China is a very important country for Apple, and they make iPhones there. But now Apple is also making more iPhones in India.

The Chinese government has not made an official statement in reply to the reports.

Apple did not quickly reply to the BBC’s request for a comment.

Knock-on effect means that when one thing happens, it can cause other things to happen as a result.

Apple is the most valuable company in the world, worth about $2. 8 trillion on the stock market.

In addition to Apple’s stock dropping, the stocks of some companies that supply Apple were also affected.

Qualcomm, the largest provider of smartphone chips, went down by over 7% on Thursday, while SK Hynix, a company from South Korea, saw its shares decrease by around 4% on Friday.

Tensions between the United States and China about technology have been increasing steadily, with both sides putting limitations.

This year, the countries Washington, Japan, and the Netherlands made it harder for China to get certain chip technology.

China responded by limiting the amount of two important materials used in the semiconductor industry that they would export.

Beijing is getting ready to create a new investment fund worth $40 billion to help strengthen its chip manufacturing industry.

Last week, when the US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo was in Beijing, the Chinese tech company Huawei surprised everyone by revealing its new Mate 60 Pro smartphone.

On Friday, the company started selling the Pro+ version of the phone in advance.

The company TechInsights from Canada said that the phone has a new processor called 5G Kirin 9000s. This processor was made specifically for Huawei by China’s biggest chip-making company called SMIC.

TechInsights analyst Dan Hutcheson said that it shows how much China’s semiconductor industry has improved in terms of technology.

Investment firm Jefferies stated in a research note that this is a significant technological advancement for China.

This week, a US congressman named Mike Gallagher, who is in charge of a group in the House of Representatives that deals with China, asked the Commerce Department to put more limits on sending products to Huawei and SMIC.
Security update means making changes or improvements to protect a computer system or network from threats or attacks.

On Thursday, Apple came out with an urgent software update for many older and newer devices.

This was because they found a security problem that unknown hackers were taking advantage of.

The update was released because some experts found that hackers were breaking into Apple devices using a new and unknown method.

Apple also discovered a similar vulnerability on its own, so it quickly released updates to improve security for its customers.

This is the 15th time this year that Apple has had to release big security updates.

Roads in Uganda closed for President Museveni’s birthday celebration

In Uganda‘s capital city, Kampala, the traffic police have shut down some roads so that important people can move easily to and from President Yoweri Museveni’s 79th birthday party on Friday.

About 100,000 people, including Ugandans from the capital and different areas of the country, attended the birthday celebrations.

The Traffic Police Commander in Kampala, Senior Superintendent Godwin Arinaitwe, stated on Thursday that if people can’t drive on the closed roads, they can park their cars at specific spots in Kampala and walk the remaining distance to the event location.

He also mentioned that the traffic police will guide Ugandans who are inconvenienced by the closed roads to different routes.

President Museveni‘s real birthday is on the 15th of September.

The young people from Mr Museveni’s political party, the National Resistance Movement, have planned the events for Friday.

On 2 September, the leaders of the city cleaned up Kampala and Kololo Independence Grounds. This was done to get ready for the birthday event happening there.

  • GAS prices increase as strikes start in Australia

GAS prices increase as strikes start in Australia

The cost of natural gas increased because workers went on strike at two large places where natural gas is made into a liquid form in Australia.

The employees at Chevron’s Gorgon and Wheatstone plants in Western Australia are going on strike because they are unhappy with their payment and working conditions.

The two plants owned by the US energy giant make up more than 5% of the total worldwide capacity for liquefied natural gas (LNG).

On Friday, the cost of gas for businesses in the UK increased by roughly 10%.

Analysts at Engie EnergyScan said that prices have increased this morning, but not by a large amount.

“We haven’t started to see a decrease in the amount of resources available yet. ” So, there’s no need to worry if everything else seems bad, they said.

Australia is a big exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), just like Qatar and the US. When Russia started reducing its natural gas supplies to Europe, Australia’s LNG helped lower global energy prices.

Australia’s industrial mediator, the Fair Work Commission, has been organizing peaceful discussions between Chevron and the Offshore Alliance. The Offshore Alliance consists of two unions that represent energy workers.

“Sadly, after many meetings and discussions to work things out with the Fair Work Commission, we still disagree on important conditions,” explained a representative from Chevron.

Brad Gandy, who speaks for Offshore Alliance, said that Chevron’s stance hasn’t really changed much even after talking for five days.

“The Offshore Alliance members are asking them to change their approach so that they can resolve this disagreement,” he added.

Wholesale energy prices have decreased but there is still pressure to keep prices down.

The cost of oil went up this week, with a type called Brent crude being traded for around $90 per barrel. This happened because Saudi Arabia and Russia decided to continue reducing the amount of oil they are supplying until the end of the year.

LNG is a type of gas made from methane, which is a gas often found in natural sources like coal and oil. It can also be mixed with another gas called ethane. Before it is used, the impurities are removed and it is cooled to a very low temperature of around -160C.

This changes the gas into a liquid so it can be transported in tightly sealed tanks.

The LNG is converted back into gas and used for heating, cooking, and power, just like regular natural gas.

Conflict erupts in South Africa following Trevor Noah tourist agreement

A suggestion to give Trevor Noah, a famous comedian who has won an Emmy award, 33 million rand ($1. 7m, £13m) to promote South Africa as a place for people to visit has created a big controversy in the country.

South Africa’s Tourism Minister, Patricia de Lille, told parliament that they want to pay Trevor Noah to appear in a short video promoting tourism in South Africa.

A lot of MPs have disagreed with the idea, but Ms de Lille says that the South African comedian and TV host won’t receive money from the government.

She said that he would get paid using money from a private organization that represents the travel and tourism businesses in South Africa.

Some people in South Africa have also expressed their disapproval of the planned agreement on social media, saying that it is pointless. Some people say that its timing is not considerate because many South Africans are having money problems.

We hope the government doesn’t spend money we don’t have on things that aren’t useful. We are not concerned about his identity, but the country is in a state of chaos. They don’t have electricity and jobs, but they have 33 million to give to Trevor Noah. “What has Trevor Noah done to make this country better. ” a user on Twitter asked.

However, some people in South Africa believe that Noah’s popularity in Hollywood could help attract more tourists to the country.

In March, Noah and tennis star Roger Federer, who have both South African and Swiss nationalities, appeared in a campaign promoting Switzerland as a place to visit.

OV pleaded and shed tears, asking me to introduce her to Stonebwoy – Ayisha Modi

Socialite and investor Ayisha Modi has recounted how Okailey Verse, also known as OV, fervently requested her assistance to connect with Dancehall and Reggae artist Stonebwoy.

She disclosed that it was Stonebwoy who financed all the Bhim Nation affiliates to attend the National Theatre, where they supported and voted for OV. This crucial support played a significant role in her victory as the overall winner of the 2018 MTN Hitmaker season seven.

In a TikTok video shared by GHPage TV, Ayisha Modi nostalgically shared how Stonebwoy extended his care and support to OV when she was launching her music career.

“I was the one who introduced you to Bhim, if not me, you didn’t know anybody in Bhim. You sent me a message that you wanted to meet Stonebwoy and during your MTN Hitmaker performance, you started doing music about him. I even had to tell Stonebwoy that you are my aunt’s daughter to convince him because he had earlier told me that he was not ready to sign anyone.

“Before you won the hitmaker award, Stonebwoy funded our transport for all the Bhim nation members to come to the national theatre to support and we voted massively for you. You wouldn’t have even won if it was not for us. You begged me and cried that you wouldn’t want to work with anyone apart from Stonebwoy,” she said.

Further, Ayisha Modi advised OV to refrain from making false claims about her in public due to her many efforts on her behalf.

“When Stonebwoy travels, he brings some stuff to you, and every investment he made for you, it was out of his own pocket and out of my own pocket. Before you talk about me, show some respect. Don’t ever disregard someone who has catered for you before. When I was in America, I used to bring one bag of clothes to you every month.

    Background

Okailey Verse, widely known as OV, has issued a bold challenge to her former label boss, Livingstone Setakla, also known as Stonebwoy, urging him to address the speculation surrounding her departure from Burniton Music Group.

OV gained widespread recognition after winning the 2019 edition of the MTN Hitmaker music reality TV competition. Her remarkable stage presence and musical talents quickly earned her a contract with Burniton Music Group (BMG) after her victory.

Upon signing with the label, she released the hit single ‘Want Me,’ featuring the renowned reggae/dancehall artist Stonebwoy. However, their collaboration was short-lived.

In mid-2019, surprising news broke that OV, along with her labelmate Kelvyn Boy, had been released from the record label. This unexpected development led to various speculations, leaving many perplexed.

Despite the numerous speculations and allegations suggesting that these two musicians, along with the former manager of Stonebwoy, Black Cedi, were let go due to undisclosed misconduct, the exact reasons for their departure have remained undisclosed by both parties.

During a recent interview on Kwaku Manu’s ‘Aggressive Show,’ OV revealed that her former boss, Stonebwoy, possesses the true understanding of why they parted ways with the label. She expressed her reluctance to delve into the details but issued a direct challenge to the media: “I dare you, presenters, to ask him about the reasons behind our departure from the label and encourage him to reveal the truth.”

  • Ukraine criticizes ‘sham’ elections in Russian-occupied areas

Ukraine criticizes ‘sham’ elections in Russian-occupied areas

People who live in areas of Ukraine that are controlled by Russia are being requested to participate in what the government is calling local elections.

The foreign minister of Ukraine said the elections were fake and would not have any legal significance.

All the candidates are either from Russia or support Russia, and some of them were chosen by Moscow to be governors.

A lot of people who voted early were asked to vote while there were Russian soldiers with weapons around.

Ukrainian officials are telling people not to join in. They say that Ukrainian citizens who help with the elections will be punished later on.

The Council of Europe, which focuses on human rights, criticized the action in the areas of Ukraine that were taken over without permission. They said it goes against international law and Russia is not paying attention to this.

These areas are a very important part of Ukraine. The council said that holding elections there makes it seem like there is democracy, but it is not really true.

The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, criticized the elections in Ukraine held in areas controlled by Russia, calling them fake and not valid. In response, the Russian embassy in the US accused Washington of interfering in their internal matters, as reported by state media.

The elections will end on Sunday and are happening in four areas that Russia doesn’t have complete control over. These areas include Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.

Together, they contribute 15% of the total land owned by Ukraine.

These are the places that Russia said were theirs last September, after asking people if they wanted to be part of Russia or not.

The international community strongly criticized those referendums as being fake. There were reports that showed more than 99% of people supported the regions going under control of Moscow. In some cases, soldiers carrying weapons went from house to house to collect votes.

The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, who has been forced to leave the city, said that the recent local elections are not valid and have no value. He mentioned that many candidates in the Zaporizhzhia region are not from the area and some are even from Siberia.

He said to the AP news agency that the city had increased its security recently, and the residents felt scared because voting in a city that was controlled by others was similar to voting in a jail.

The Zaporizhzhia region is also the main target of Kyiv’s counter-attack, which started during the summer.

Ukrainian generals say they have broken through Russia’s strong front line defenses in that area, which means that the attack there is about to become stronger.

Experts at the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) say that recent progress in Ukraine is very important in terms of tactics. It is expanding the area where Ukraine is breaking through the defense lines of Russia and is also posing a threat to Russia’s backup defense lines.

Ukraine has been primarily focusing its efforts on the village of Robotyne, which is located about 56km (35 miles) to the south-east of the city of Zaporizhzhia, the regional capital.

  • Russian drones pose a threat to Ukraine’s main source of income

Russian drones pose a threat to Ukraine’s main source of income

Russian drones attacking Ukraine‘s ports along the River Danube every night are endangering an important economic lifeline for Kyiv.

The recent days have seen a rise in the intensity of attacks that started more than a month ago.

Every morning, there is news of new explosions happening at places where grain is stored and at the ports in and around Reni and Izmail.

Ukraine is a big supplier of grain worldwide, but the war has caused serious problems in getting the supplies.

According to the governor of the Odesa region, Oleg Kiper, on Thursday night, 14 drones from Russia were destroyed over the area that includes the ports on the Danube River.

But a lot of drones get past and cause a lot of damage.

“They ruin the buildings and the machines that bring grain to other countries. ”

On Thursday, President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, for assistance.

“We want others to join us in making the air defense of the Odesa region stronger,” he tweeted later.

What is the Ukraine grain deal.
Russia has come up with a new method to stop Ukraine from exporting grain.

Russia started sending drone attacks to the Danube ports after quitting the Black Sea Grain Initiative in mid-July. They believed that their own farmers were being treated unfairly.

The plan was made to help ships carrying grain travel safely to worldwide markets.

After Russia left, only a few ships, none of them carrying grain, have been able to leave Ukraine’s Black Sea ports.

As a result, the Danube route has become very important now.

In simple words, it is safer for ships because when they enter the Black Sea from the river mouth, they immediately enter Romanian waters.

Many people go to the port of Costanta in Romania to send things to other places.

MrMarchuk said that the reason why Russia is attacking the Danube ports is very clear and easy to understand.

“He said Russia is doing this because Ukraine’s decrease in exports could create opportunities for them to sell in other countries. ”

“They want to expand into new markets that Ukraine cannot meet the demand for. ”

Grain is still being loaded onto ships at Reni and Izmail, but the fear of Russian attacks is increasing the price of insurance and making shipping companies reluctant to do business there.

In June and July, Ukraine sent about two million tonnes each month through the Danube River to other countries. They are aiming to increase this amount to about three million tonnes.

Even though there were attacks, the amount of exports in August went up to 2. 5However, the increasing costs of shipping are making it less valuable for Ukraine’s farmers.

Denys Marchuk said that we cannot know what will happen in the future.

    “It’s really strong. ”

He repeated what the president said, asking for help from other countries.

“We hope that the Russians will stop their actions, and with the help of our allies, we can safeguard the port facilities. ”

The Black Sea Grain Initiative is still not moving forward, even though Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, tried to convince Vladimir Putin to change his decision.

Currently, the Danube route is the most significant option.

There are other ways to travel like driving or taking a train, but they are not as good.

Because of pressure from their own farmers, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, and Slovakia have stopped allowing the import of grain from Ukraine. However, the European Union (EU) has made special routes so that Ukrainian grain can still reach markets in the western part of Europe.

Because the River Danube is part of the border between Ukraine and NATO, Russia’s attacks have an extra political aspect.

A drone from Russia exploded in Romania, near Izmail, across the river.

Earlier this week, Ukrainian officials said something, but Romania at first said it wasn’t true.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, was very angry and said it was useless to say that something didn’t fall there.

He said that Nato countries were ignoring what Russia is doing.

“The partners usually try to avoid making a small problem into a big one,” he said, “so that they don’t end up in a big fight. ”

Romania finally agreed that they found pieces of Russian drones on their part of the river.

The government in Bucharest strongly disagrees with Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s Danube facilities. They don’t want the situation to escalate or become more serious.

In simple words, people in Romania do not want to use Article 5 of NATO, which is about all member countries defending each other, just because there are some small parts of a Russian drone found in a field.

US moves its troops stationed in Niger ‘as precaution’

The US government has started moving its soldiers in Niger after the coup on July 26.

A spokesperson from the US Pentagon named Sabrina Singh said that some staff members will be transferred from Air Base 101 in Niger’s capital, Niamey, to Air Base 201 in Agadez, which is located further north.

American soldiers are safe and there is no danger or violence happening. “Ms Singh said during a briefing at the Pentagon that this is just a preventive measure. ”

The United States has around 1,100 soldiers located at two air bases in Niger.

The Air Base 201 in Agadez is a large area where drones are operated. It cost $110 million and is 1. 9 kilometers long It is located 920 kilometers away from Niamey.

The US military went to Niger to help the country fight against terrorism and improve its military strength.

The relationship between Niger and its western partners has gotten worse since Niger’s military removed President Mohamed Bazoum, who was chosen by the people in a fair election.

This week, France started talking to Niger’s military leaders about taking out some of its 1,500 soldiers from the country.
