Nike has changed its mind about the England goalkeeper kit issue. Due to fan pressure, they have decided to offer for sale copies of Mary Earps‘ Rephrase shirts.
Fans in England couldn’t buy goalie shirts with Earps’ name on them. Nike said they would only consider this for future events.
Earps was really impressed at the Women’s World Cup. She also blocked a penalty in the final on Sunday. The Lionesses came in second place, with Spain being the winners.
The famous player from Manchester United won an award in the tournament for being the best goalkeeper, but some fans in England were sad because they couldn’t buy a shirt with her name on it.
Earps felt very upset and offended by Nike’s decision. She even said she would be willing to pay for the shirts herself.
Nike made a statement after the end, but Earps criticized the company on her Instagram story on Tuesday.
“Nike, is this your way of saying sorry, taking responsibility, or making a strong commitment. ” Earps asked with a surprised emoji.
Then Earps shared a link to a petition on Change. org asking Nike to sell her replica England shirt. The petition has received over 150,000 signatures.
Nike has changed their plans and is now saying that they have managed to get a small number of jerseys to sell on the federation websites soon. They are also talking to their other federation partners.
Earps, who is 30 years old, has played in 41 games for the Lionesses since her first game in 2017. She received the title of The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper last year.

John Fury smashes table in tense news conference with KSI
A media event before Tommy Fury’s upcoming fight against KSI turned into a mess on Tuesday when John Fury started shouting angrily, flipped over a table, and attempted to physically harm the YouTuber.
The event at Wembley Arena quickly became intense when Dillon Danis, who is also fighting Logan Paul on October 14th, came out wearing a hat that looked like the one Paul wore in his well-known video from Japan’s Aokigahara forest in 2017.
Paul showed a big cake that had a picture of Danis unconscious and bleeding on the floor. Then, Danis insulted Paul’s fiancée Nina Agdal.
However, the real excitement started when the attention shifted to Tommy Fury’s fight against KSI. The father of the Love Island contestant, John, became more and more angry as the two fighters insulted each other.
After talking and arguing for a while, Fury’s father got extremely angry when KSI mentioned Tyson’s next fight. He shouted, “We are the only important men here, us, the Furys. ” Men who behave in an appropriate and respectable manner. I am here. I am around 50 years old. I am prepared to face all of you. Who is looking for a fight with me today.
Who is ready to fight with me right now. Forget all this nonsense. Let’s have a physical confrontation now, you jerk. You’re saying untrue things about people’s private matters. We are warriors. My son will fight him now and I am ready to fight anyone who is willing to take me on. “Okay, let’s start now. ”
Just when it seemed like he was becoming calmer, he suddenly got a burst of energy and yelled loudly, declaring that he is like a machine. Can anyone ask who I am in this place. Come and receive it.Then he slammed his fists on the table in front of Tommy and Danis. He flipped the table over and rushed towards KSI, kicking another table in front of the YouTuber.
That caused a big fight between the fighters and security, and the bodyguards had to step in to stop it.
John Fury then walked towards a microphone, held his private area, and shouted: “I am the genuine thing, it’s me. ” The dad of the world’s king. KSI is not liked. I will not like all of you.
The fighters were all forced back towards the sides of the stage, but then something happened. Logan Paul started grabbing pieces of Danis’ cake and threw it across the stage.
Danis was very angry and had to be restrained by many security guards after he was hit on the head with a sponge cake that looked like him. Meanwhile, John Fury had the opportunity to kick another chair towards KSI, causing a small fight to break out.
Finally, a message was broadcasted over the speaker system saying that the press conference ended earlier than planned. Tommy Fury showed disrespect by raising his middle finger towards KSI as he and his father were escorted off the stage.
Unfortunately, despite being unwise, there was still a confrontation that took place shortly after. They started arguing with each other for a few seconds, and then KSI pushed Tommy Fury, causing even more chaos.
Four security guards were needed to stop an angry John Fury, who kept shouting “Come here. I’m going to kill you. ”
He made a gesture to leave and indicated that he had become less angry before quickly charging back towards KSI again. This time, it took six security personnel to restrain him. The real fight is happening on October 14th. -

Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen to remain with Haas F1 in 2024
The Formula One team has officially confirmed that Haas will continue to have Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg as their drivers in 2024. On Thursday, Haas stated this prior to the Dutch Grand Prix and the resumption of the sport following the summer hiatus.
Both drivers did not have a contract at the end of the year, but it was expected that they would keep their job. This was because there were not many good options available.
Guenther Steiner, the leader of the team, said before that he was pleased with his group of racers and he likes having experienced ones.
“I believe we had a really good duo of drivers this season in Formula 1 and there was no need to replace them in the future,” stated the American team’s website.
‘We know Kevin very well and I’m happy that he will be back for his seventh season with Haas team. ‘ He has participated in 113 matches for our team. This shows that he is good at certain things. Additionally, his understanding and experience with our organization match up well with his strengths.
Meanwhile, Nico easily fit into the garage without any problems or celebrations, and showed that he is an important member of the team. He has almost reached 200 starts in Formula 1 and we are very happy to benefit from his experience driving. “Magnussen started racing for Haas in 2017. He left in 2021 but surprised everyone when he came back to take the place of Nikita Mazepin, who was removed from the team.
He hasn’t performed well this year, only scoring two points in the first 12 races and ranking 18th. This is partly because his car is not fast enough.
The Danish person said that their return in 2022 was surprising, but there were many good moments. Although this season didn’t go exactly how they wanted, they were still able to score points and show promise with their team. There are still many races left in 2023 and we have a lot of work to do to understand the VF-23 car. We can use what we learn to improve the 2024 car. I want to thank Gene Haas and Guenther Steiner for letting me continue racing in the sport I love.
Hulkenberg started racing for Haas this year instead of Mick Schumacher. This is his first time back in F1 full-time since 2019.
Even though he hasn’t been getting many points, the German driver is in 14th place in the standings. He has impressed people with his qualifying rounds and has made it to the top-10 shootout six times.
The 36-year-old said it’s good to organize things ahead of time for the next season so we can concentrate on racing and getting better.
I love being on the team and I have the same enthusiasm for it as Gene and Guenther. We are competing in a close midfield position and I am excited to continue our progress from now until 2024.
Currently, Haas is in eighth place in the team rankings with 11 points. They have the same number of points as their competitors, Williams. -

Family seeks justice for 26-year-old man who died in police custody in Volta Region
A pall of grief and outrage hangs over the Volta Region as the family of a 26-year-old man is demanding answers and justice following his untimely death while in police custody.
The deceased young man, whose identity has been revealed as Felix Azibodzi, was apprehended by police authorities in the area on August 9, 2023, on suspicion of robbery.
However, he never returned home until reports of his demise reached his family. The incident has hit the family like a sledgehammer, and are therefore demanding justice. They insist his demise was unjustified and suspicious, arguing that prior to his arrest, he was hale and hearty.
Speaking in an interview on Starr News on how they got to know of their relative’s arrest, an uncle to the deceased, Michael Azibodzi, narrated that: “Two days after he [the deceased] left home, about 13 police officers led by the commander came here to look for the father.
“I called out the father (sick) from the room and we sat down with the police who informed us that they invited Felix (deceased) for interrogation and arrested him,” he continued.
“They went on to inform us that a day after his arrest, he complained of ill health and was taken to the hospital for treatment where he passed,” he added.
Upon checks with checks on the body at the Ho Teaching Hospital morgue, the Azibodzi family found out that the deceased was physically molested while in custody
“We were not told Felix had an accident but we were left distraught and disgusted when we went to view the body at the morgue. He had bruises on his back, one of his arms left disjointed and his legs fractured,” the family revealed.
Further checks from the hospital, according to the family, revealed that the deceased was brought to the facility dead.
While the police administration in the area has not yet provided a statement regarding the matter, insider sources from the police force have refuted any allegations of misconduct by the police.
However, it was verified that the individual who passed away had been apprehended in relation to a car theft on the mentioned Wednesday. Subsequently, he was found to be unwell the following day while in detention.
Reports indicate that he was reportedly taken to the hospital for medical treatment on Thursday, August 10, where he later passed away.

Mykhailo Mudryk’s injury confirmed by Chelsea ahead of Luton Town game
Chelsea’s spirits have been dampened by the unfortunate news that Mykhailo Mudryk will be sidelined for Friday’s match against Luton Town due to a fresh injury.
The injury list is getting longer with more players getting injured. Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, Benoit Badiashile, Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah, Marcus Bettinelli, as well as the Ukraine international, are all currently injured.
Chelsea shared the news about Mudryk on their official website and said that he is now starting his recovery after getting checked for an injury he got during training this week.
Mauricio Pochettino had to support Mudryk after another tough game wearing a Chelsea jersey in their 3-1 loss against West Ham recently. The Argentine coach believes that Mudryk, who was bought for £88. 5 million, will eventually perform well.
When asked what is the problem with Mudryk and what Pochettino thought of his performance, Pochettino said that Mudryk should try to be more motivated and focused on scoring.
He played for 45 minutes. He needs to keep playing consistently. But first, he needs to establish trust and consistency during the training sessions throughout the week.
He is a young player who we should believe in and give our trust to. We need to have faith in him so he can build a good relationship with us and the team.
‘He has a lot of skill and talent. I believe it won’t be long before he becomes more comfortable with the team and starts performing the way we want. ’
Pochettino became the head coach of Chelsea this summer. He wanted to improve the team’s performance after they finished in 12th place in the Premier League last season.
The previous manager of Tottenham still hasn’t won a game at Chelsea. He drew 1-1 at home against Liverpool and lost 3-1 against West Ham. -

Man Utd in talks over signing Dino Klapija, despite competition from Chelsea, others
Manchester United are rumored to be talking about signing young talent Dino Klapija, but they have other clubs like Chelsea to compete with.
Both Premier League teams are interested in the 16-year-old Croatian striker, who has several choices for his future club.
According to reports, United and German club RB Leipzig are leading the race and are currently negotiating to sign the young player.
Barcelona, AC Milan, and Juventus all want to sign Klapija.
Klapija will be leaving Croatian team NK Kustosija soon because he wants to find a new team.
He was born in a place called North Hempstead, USA. He began his career in a soccer school for a team called New York City FC. This team is owned by the same people who own Manchester City and is part of a group called City Football Group.
Klapija played for the United States U16s, but then returned to Croatia with his family.
The young person decided to join Dinamo Zagreb, a professional sports team. It was planned for them to sign their first official contract with Dinamo Zagreb. However, they changed their mind and chose to join Kustosija instead. Kustosija is known for giving chances to young players.
United are trying to make some new signings before the transfer deadline and Sofyan Amrabat might join the team.

Mikel Arteta receives significant boost as Gabriel Jesus was sighted returning to training
On Thursday, Gabriel Jesus, an Arsenal player, rejoined the team for training sessions. This is good news for Mikel Arteta.
The Brazilian star has been unable to engage in any physical activities since the beginning of August after undergoing a knee operation.
Jesus was unable to play for around three months at the beginning of his time at the Emirates stadium because of a knee problem.
After the surgery earlier this month, fans were worried that the former Manchester City player would have to take a long break from playing.
Jesus was seen training with the Gunners today as they get ready for Fulham’s visit to north London.
Eddie Nketiah played in Arsenal’s first two Premier League matches this season because Jesus was not available.
The forward scored in a 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest, and caused a penalty in Monday’s victory against Crystal Palace.
Jesus probably won’t play against Fulham because he is working on getting physically fit. -

Monaco to make new bid for Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun as Chelsea draws near
Rumors suggest that Monaco is preparing a superior offer as they aim to complete the signing of Folarin Balogun, the Arsenal striker. This decision came after Chelsea showed interest in signing the talented American player.
Monaco wants to bring Balogun, who had a good loan spell at Reims last season, back to Ligue 1. However, Arsenal said no to their first offer, even though the 22-year-old had initially agreed to join Monaco.
Balogun wants to leave north London so he can play more often. A few teams, like Inter Milan, West Ham, and Fulham, are interested in him. Some people even think that Arsenal’s rivals, Tottenham, might be interested too.
Chelsea are looking to strengthen their attack and have shown interest in Balogun. Balogun is willing to join Chelsea.
The people from west London and Arsenal have very different ideas about how much Balogun is worth. Arsenal thinks he is worth £50m, but the west Londoners don’t agree.
Monaco has become more interested and is planning to make another offer, worth more than £35m.
Arsenal may face a competition for Balogun, with Monaco being the top choice to sign him. However, Arsenal is not in a hurry to sell him and might even choose to keep him at their stadium, the Emirates.
Balogun scored 22 goals in 39 games for Reims last season.
The Hale End academy graduate has played 10 matches for the Gunners so far but has not played in any games this season.
Balogun used to be a part of England’s under 21s soccer team, but later decided to play for the United States at a higher level. He has played in two matches for the US national team. -

African activities of Wagner put to test for toughness
The alleged death of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of Wagner company, will potentially challenge the activities of numerous private military groups in Mali, the Central African Republic (CAR), and Libya.
Wagner is in charge of maintaining security for certain African leaders and in return, they receive valuable minerals and other economic and military benefits.
The group has also played a significant role in using media campaigns to spread Russian influence by mainly discrediting the West.
In the Central African Republic (CAR), the Wagner forces that were invited by President Faustin-Archange Touadéra in 2018 have expanded their influence into different industries like media, timber, and vodka. This is to strengthen their control over the country’s valuable minerals.
Earlier this week, a cultural center called the Russia House in Bangui, which is the capital of the Central African Republic, said that they will have a three-month trade fair. This fair is for Russian businesses that want to grow their operations in the region.
This could potentially allow companies connected to Wagner to work in the CAR and avoid Western punishments.
Yet, the soldiers for hire working in CAR have been blamed for committing terrible acts of violence while battling against rebel groups, which has contributed to the ongoing problems and instability in the country.
Mali’s government, which is led by the military, has started relying a lot on Wagner. Before this, they had stopped making agreements with France and the UN peacekeeping force for security.
In late 2021, around 1,000 hired fighters went to that place, but the authorities say they are not there.
In May, the US punished Wagner’s unofficial leader, Ivan Maslov, for using Mali to get weapons for Russia’s war in Ukraine.
The different activities clearly show how important Africa is to Russia’s foreign policy.
But, it is important for Moscow to have loyal Wagner operatives on the continent to strengthen its future control/power. -

Ghanaians caution Akufo-Addo against using state funds to send troops to Niger
A group of Ghanaian citizens have appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to abandon the proposal of deploying Ghanaian military forces to Niger under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) military intervention plan. They express concerns that this action could impact the nation’s resources.
Certain individuals believe that the government’s decision to deploy troops in aid of ECOWAS’ military intervention in Niger will result in the utilization of national resources, particularly in financial terms. This, they argue, could have severe repercussions on the already struggling economy of the country.
In an exclusive conversation with GhanaWeb TV on August 23, 2023, a group of individuals from the public strongly objected to the government’s proposal of deploying military personnel to Niger. Instead, they recommended that the country’s resources be directed towards addressing the existing challenges within the nation.
“Why should we go to Niger, are we the ones who caused the problem there? We have issues in Ghana here that Akufo-Addo should address. I know that the military signed an oath to be ready to respond to duty whenever needed, but this one is a bad idea.
“For that one Akufo-Addo should not try it at all. If I were a military person, I wouldn’t go” one woman who spoke to Ghanaweb TV noted.
Another person said: “I won’t support this idea because what is happening elsewhere does not concern us. We are struggling as a nation, the funds that will be used to send the military troops to Niger could have been used for developmental projects in the country instead of wasting it. So I would never support this idea,” an individual told GhanaWeb TV.
“I don’t support the idea of the government sending troops to Niger, because our resources will be used to take care of them when they go. And how sure are we that we will get our resources back afterward? So that’s the reason why I don’t agree,” another person added.
One individual urged President, Akufo-Addo to take into consideration the concerns of Ghanaians with regards to sending Ghanaian troops to Niger for military intervention.
“In my opinion, the president has the right to send military to Niger but he should consider the concerns of the people who voted for him. As much as he wants to assist with whatever is going on, I think there are a lot of things happening in the country that he should focus on first. Already the military has some concerns that are not being attended to. So I think is not a good idea to send the military to Niger,” another person told Ghanaweb TV.
Meanwhile another person who spoke to GhanaWeb was in support of the government sending troops to Niger, because he believes it will help to halt the menace of the military takeover in the West African sub-region.
He also attributed the military takeover in Niger to poor governance.
“I support the government sending military troops to Niger because the people living there [Niger] are not comfortable with the way things are going with the democratic rule, which is why they support the military coup. We support the people of Niger because people are suffering a lot so the government should know that,” she indicated.

Peace Watch Ghana advocates for financial aid for NPP, NDC communicators
Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana, Nyonkopa Daniels, has asked political parties to pay their communicators allowances if they are unable to pay them salaries.
Some of these communicators, she claims, live in deplorable conditions but are loyal to their political parties and must be compensated for their efforts.
She explained on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Frontline that the work of these communicators is enormous, but the majority of them are underappreciated.
She observed that some of them go around begging for help but then turn around to defend their government, particularly those affiliated with the ruling government.
She told Kwabena Agyapong, the show’s host, that she would soon launch a campaign to force political parties to pay their communicators.
”Give them money because their work is difficult. A spade must be called a spade. Some political parties are cheats. I will launch a campaign next year to encourage communicators to leave their political parties if they are not appreciated.”
Madam Nyonkopa Daniels also suggested that political parties provide funds to their members in order for them to start their own businesses, or that the party itself establish businesses in order for their communicators and serial callers to have something to do.

The United Nations migration agency reports that over four million people in Ethiopia have been forced to leave their homes due to conflict or drought.
The National Displacement Report looked at what happened from November to June 2023. It found that out of all the people who had to leave their homes, two-thirds of them had to do so because of fights and wars.
This is the first time since 2021 that the report includes the Tigray region, where a lot of people in Ethiopia have been forced to leave their homes because of the war. Over a million people have been affected.
The eastern part of Ethiopia, known as the Somali region, has the most people who have been forced to leave their homes because of a lack of rain.

Jenni Hermoso releases statement regarding Luis Rubiales’s forced kiss
Jenni Hermoso, a renowned Spanish footballer, intends to file a lawsuit against Luis Rubiales, the president of the Spanish football federation. The reason behind this is that he kissed her without her consent during the Women’s World Cup final. Rubiales, a 46-year-old man, sparked immense outrage by aggressively grabbing the Spanish forward’s head and kissing her on the mouth at Sunday’s event. There is a growing call from numerous individuals for his removal as the head of the RFEF, similar to the FA in Spain.
The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, said that Rubiales’ apology was not enough. Earlier on Wednesday, the Spanish women’s league, Liga F, complained to the National Sports Council (CSD) and asked for Rubiales to be fired.
The CSD might be able to take action now because Hermoso said she will take action against Rubiales. She made this statement on Wednesday evening through FUTPRO, a union for female footballers in Spain.
Hermoso said that his FUTPRO union and TMJ agency will protect his interests and speak on his behalf in this matter.
A longer statement from FUTPRO talked about their complaint: ‘We request the Royal Spanish Football Federation to follow the necessary rules, protect our players’ rights, and take strong actions. ‘
Jenni Hermoso has released a statement and plans to take legal action against Luis Rubiales for forcing a kiss on her.
We need team members who show equality and respect in everything they do.
We must keep working towards equality. Our players have been determined leaders in this fight, and they have brought us to where we are today.
We want the National Sports Council to help stop and prevent sexual harassment, abuse, and unfair treatment towards men and women in sports.
We don’t accept any behavior that goes against the rights of soccer players.
‘We are united in our efforts to ensure that unethical behavior in football, such as the ones we have witnessed, does not go unnoticed or unpunished. We will take necessary measures to protect the football players from actions that we deem unacceptable. ‘
Hermoso’s choice to take action against Rubiales seems to confirm that the statement released, which downplayed the incident and claimed to be from her, was actually written by the RFEF communications team without Hermoso’s permission.
Reports from Spain say that Rubiales wanted Hermoso to be in the video where he said sorry, but she kept saying no. -

66 die, 24 injured in fire outbreaks in Greater Accra
Data from the Accra Regional Fire Command indicates that at least 66 persons died and 24 others suffered injuries due to fire outbreaks and other related incidents in the first half of this year.
This is against 69 deaths and 162 injuries recorded the previous year.
Likewise, there were 662 instances of fire incidents documented in the span of six months, compared to 640 fires during the corresponding period the previous year. This indicates a three percent rise in fire occurrences attributed to human actions within the region.
During a meeting with reporters in Accra yesterday, Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) Grade One Roberta Aggrey Ghanson, who serves as the Accra Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), revealed this information. The purpose of the engagement was to address matters concerning fire incidents in the region.
It also formed part of this year’s fire educational campaign to create fire safety awareness to the public.
The programme, which was on the theme “60 years of existence, fire safety: the choice for safer environment”, brought together Municipal Fire Commanders, senior and junior officers from the regional command.
ACFO I Ghanson said domestic fires top the cases with 234 as compared to 197 fires in 2022, representing an increase of three per cent, all attributable to human behaviour.
She stated that the media had contributed immensely in bringing the Service’s vision to bear considering its function of educating the public.
ACFO1 Ghanson said the Command also in the first half of 2023 responded to 22 rescue incidents as well as 22 road traffic accidents.
She said the estimated cost of damages caused by fire outbreaks in the first half of this year was GHC34,590,914.00.
ACFO1 Ghanson said the Ghana National fire Service (GNFS) would sensitise members of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and market women.
She said the Service would also inspect national installations, undertake stimulation exercises, and meet with operators of event centres, club houses, drinking spots and nightclubs.
The Accra Regional Fire Safety Officer, Divisional Officer Grade One (DOI), Evans Osei Owusu, stated that the role of the media was crucial in addressing fire safety issues in the country.
He urged journalists to collaborate with the GNFS in its education drive to ensure that lives and properties were saved in the country.
DOI Owusu urged the public to desist from attacking GNFS personnel while on duty.
The Deputy Director of Operations, DOI Joseph Kofi Forson, mentioned accessibility, inadequate source of water, negative attitudes as some of the things affecting GNFS’ operations.
He urged the public to make fire safety a priority, which according to him was a shared responsibility.
A representative from the Ghana Institute of Architects, Mr David Parkins, commended personnel of the GNFS for ensuring that lives and properties were saved even at the peril of the own lives.

Second spy satellite launch attempt by North Korea fails
The second endeavor of North Korea to launch a spy satellite into space was not fruitful. Three months after the initial failure, they tried again, but unfortunately, the satellite still ended up in the sea.
According to state media, the attempt on Thursday morning failed when the rocket was in the third stage of its flight.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un really wants a spy satellite because it would help him see when enemies are going to attack and plan his own attacks better.
Pyongyang’s space agency plans to make another attempt in October.
South Korea said it found out about the rocket being launched at around 03:50 local time (18:50 GMT). It flew through the area in the sky that is open to all countries between mainland China and the Korean peninsula.
The start caused a sudden warning in Japan’s most southern Okinawa region just a few minutes later, telling people to go inside and stay safe. The warning was ended after around 20 minutes.
The Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, criticized the launch and said that it goes against the UN resolutions. He also mentioned that they have already lodged a strong protest. But even though Pyongyang was surely let down by Thursday’s failure, it seems like they have made some advances.
A news report from a government news agency called KCNA said that the failure happened because there was a mistake in the emergency blasting system while the rocket was flying in the third stage. The report also mentioned that this problem was not a major one.
It looks like the rocket with the satellite went even farther than before. Officials in Pyongyang admitted that the failed attempt in May was their biggest mistake. However, they promised to give it another shot.
Mr Kim will probably keep going until he achieves success. He is already making progress with his weapons program and is not interested in talking to the US.
Thursday’s launch happened a few days after leaders from the US, Japan, and South Korea had an important meeting in Washington. It also marks the beginning of the yearly military exercises between the United States and South Korea. -
Robbery gone wrong as 20-year-old loses life in attempt to steal from shop
A 20-year-old man, identified as Frimpong a.k.a Alkaline, has lost his life in an alleged robbery attempt gone wrong in Fiapre, a town in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region.
According to a UTV reporter who narrated the incident, the deceased and about three accomplices visited a wooden motor rewinding shop in the area at night to steal some items. It is unclear how they had access to the building because there were no signs of forced entry around the structure.
It is suspected that the owner of the shop may have been robbed before and thus set up a system to deter robbery. When Frimpong forced his way through a crack beneath the main entrance, he was reportedly electrocuted instantly. It is however unknown what exactly caused the electrocution.
The incident has left neighbours in shock and fear. Eyewitnesses who saw the scene said they woke up to see a hand beneath the entrance of the rewinding shop. A closer look revealed a familiar face, Frimpong, who had been dead for hours. The young man was a known face in the neighbourhood and residents said he was unemployed.
The police were informed of the incident and they visited the crime scene and conveyed the body to the Bono Regional Hospital mortuary.

Financial woes of GRCL leave railway workers in dire straits
Railway Workers Union of Ghana has voiced deep concerns over what they perceive as the government’s inadequate dedication to addressing the pressing financial difficulties confronting the Ghana Railway Company Limited (GRCL).
Alarmed by the situation, the union has issued a stark warning, indicating that unless an urgent injection of capital is executed, the company could be on the brink of an imminent shutdown.
Having a workforce of approximately 1000 employees, the union has emphasized that the financial turmoil faced by the state-owned enterprise might result in its closure. This, in turn, would impact both the workers and their families, as per the union’s assertion.
“Our workers have not been paid for three months and if August should end, it would be four months. Our social security (SSNIT) contributions or payments are in arrears since October 2022. Tier two pension payments for workers have also not been settled since May 2022,” Godwill Ntarmah, General Secretary of the Railway Workers Union of Ghana, said.
Mr. Ntarmah spoke at a press conference in Takoradi regarding the disturbing financial position of Ghana Railways and how the workers are suffering and disappointed in the government’s lack of commitment to revive the company.
According to him, workers’ deductions or contributions to their various credit unions, such as the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authourity (GPHA) Credit Union and the Railway Union Cooperation Mutual Assistant Society (RUCOMAS), have also not been paid since 2021.
“Another issue of great concern to us is the determination of the fate of the GRCL retrenched staff of 2006, which need to be addressed by the government” he added.
As a wholly state-owned company, he said GRCL is facing serious challenges operating on the existing narrow-gauge rail line, which is in a very bad state coupled with the old-aged rolling stock resulting in series of derailment every now and then.
“These challenges have resulted in serious financial constraints which easily qualify the company as highly indebted company (HIPC),” he lamented.
He said workers expect some form of support from the government as it was the practice in the past.
He said the union strongly disagrees with the assertion that the company is a limited liability and therefore, should be able to work and generate enough to fund itself: “We disagree with this assertion. It is impossible for the company to generate enough funds to sustain itself”.
Ntarmah disclosed that frantic efforts by the leadership of the union to get President Nana Akufo-Addo’s attention have proven futile.
“We have no option than to engage you and use your medium to appeal to the President for an engagement with us to save GRCL from a total collapse. We are frustrated and disillusioned and we pray the President will hear us and give the needed audience,” he concluded.

Republican debate: Candidates battle off against one another in debate without Trump
The first debate for the 2024 presidential election witnessed Republican candidates engaging in heated arguments. In the absence of Donald Trump, they aimed to assume the leadership role.
Eight competitors gathered on a stage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to argue about various topics including Ukraine and abortion.
While most people were hesitant to criticize Mr. Trump, a few of the candidates did criticize the absent former president.
The person who wins will compete against the Democratic candidate, most likely President Joe Biden, in November 2024.
On Wednesday night, some important people appeared on stage for a TV show on Fox News. These people were Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former Vice-President Mike Pence, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum.
Mr DeSantis, who is currently in second place for the election, is having some difficulties with his campaign. He has made a promise multiple times to “send Biden back to his basement. ”
But even though he was in the main spotlight, the governor of Florida had a hard time getting attention during the two-hour forum compared to Vivek Ramaswamy, who is a successful new politician and billionaire.
“Do you prefer a person controlled by a super PAC, as if they were their puppet,” the 38-year-old son of immigrants from India asked, “or do you want a patriot who honestly speaks the truth. ”
Mr Pence, who has a lot of experience in debating, criticized Mr. Ramaswamy for not having much experience. He said that it is not the right time for Mr. Ramaswamy to be learning on the job. We don’t need to have someone new and inexperienced.Christie also criticized Mr. Ramaswamy, calling him an inexperienced person, and compared his speaking style to that of a computer-generated chat program.
As the candidates argued, Ms. Haley interrupted and said, “This is exactly why Margaret Thatcher said, ‘If you want someone to speak, ask a man, if you want someone to take action, ask a woman. ‘”
The discussion showed that there were disagreements within the party regarding their stance on helping Ukraine and allowing women to have abortions.
Many of the candidates promised to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
ButRamaswamy made fun of “professional politicians who will go to Kyiv like they are going on a religious journey to see President Zelensky. ”
MsHaley criticized Mr. Ramaswamy’s stance of isolating himself from other countries, stating that he lacks experience in foreign policy.
There was a disagreement about whether it should be allowed to restrict abortion all across the country.
MsHaley, the only woman on stage, expressed her belief that it is unfair to pressure women into making a decision on this matter when Republicans do not have enough votes in the Senate to successfully pass it.
MrPence responded that this was not a display of leadership.
The debate moderators asked the candidates if they would support Mr. Trump if he became the Republican nominee.Out of the eight people on stage, Mr. Christie and Mr. Hutchinson were the only ones who didn’t raise their hands.
Mr Christie received both negative and positive reactions when he claimed that Mr. Trump’s behavior is below what is expected of a US president.
Mr Hutchinson received louder and louder negative reactions as he claimed that Mr. Trump should not be allowed to be president.
Mr Trump did not take part in the debate because he believed he was already doing better than others in the race. Instead, he decided to have an interview with Tucker Carlson, a former host on Fox, and put it online at the same time. He did this to try and outshine the televised event.
The ex-president said he didn’t want to deal with smaller competitors bothering him. This interview got 100 million views on Twitter.
After the debate, Trump’s spokesperson Jason Miller said that even though the former president wasn’t there, he still won. He also said that Governor DeSantis’ performance signaled the start of his decline.
The argument happened shortly before Mr. Trump’s trip to Georgia, where he might be arrested for trying to overturn the 2020 election results in that state.
According to a recent poll by CBS News, Mr Trump is leading the Republican race with 62% of the votes, which is much higher than the combined total of all his opponents. This is despite his ongoing legal problems.
Mr DeSantis is in second place with 16% of the votes. Ramaswamy ranked third with a score of 7%.
Last week, a poll from Quinnipiac University showed that Mr. Trump, who is 77 years old, was nearly tied with Mr. Biden in a potential election matchup. 47% of the people surveyed supported Mr. Biden, while 46% supported Mr.During a debate-watching event in Atlanta, Georgia, around 100 young Republican voters evaluated the candidates.
Richard Polk, who is 33 years old, believed that Mr. Trump was a good president. However, he felt that Mr. Trump often sabotaged his own efforts.
Ashlee Jackson, a voter who does not belong to any political party from the area, believed that the candidates should provide less empty phrases and more specific information about their policy stances.
The upcoming Republican debate will happen in Simi Valley, California, on September 27th.
In January, voters will start picking the person they want to support for president in a bunch of state elections called primaries. The very first primary will be held in Iowa.
The final candidate for the Republican Party will be chosen at their convention in Milwaukee in July, before the general election takes place four months later. -

Former Israeli principal imprisoned for abusing Australian children sexually
The former head of a school in Israel will face a sentence of up to 15 years in prison for causing harm to two students at an Australian Jewish school known for its strict rules.
Malka Leifer was found guilty in April of sexually attacking and abusing Dassi Erlich and Elly Sapper, who are sisters. This happened between 2003 and 2007.
The 56-year-old person was declared innocent of hurting a third sister named Nicole Meyer.
Leifer’s punishment concludes a 15-year effort for the mother of eight to be held accountable. She claimed innocence and denied committing the crimes, and subsequently put up a prolonged fight against being deported to Israel. But in 2021, a judge from Israel ruled that she pretended to have mental illness to avoid going to court, and decided that she should be sent to Melbourne.
During a very long trial, the jury learned that Leifer had mistreated the sisters in locked classrooms, on school trips, and at the principal’s house.
The judge, Mark Gamble, explained the 18 charges on Thursday and described her actions as very harmful.
Leifer was highly respected at the Adass Israel School. People were very impressed by him, almost like they would be with a rabbi. The sisters didn’t receive love and were not protected. Their mother abused them emotionally and physically at home. They didn’t have anyone to teach them about sex.
This situation is very concerning because the victims were very easy to harm, and Mrs. Leifer deliberately and heartlessly took advantage of them in a planned and careful manner. The judge said that she did it to get sexual satisfaction in a perverted way.
The judge said that Ms Sapper and Ms Erlich are not to blame for what Leifer did to them. They spoke about feeling guilty, ashamed, and afraid for a long time.
She is the only one who should feel bad and embarrassed for what happened.
Based on the time she has already spent in jail, Leifer can be released on parole in June 2029.
The leader of an Israeli school has been found guilty of sexually abusing children in Australia.
Speaking with her sisters outside of the court, Ms Erlich said that the punishment marked the conclusion of a challenging and distressing period in their lives.
“She said we are here today because we never gave up. ”
And even though we understand that survivors should not have to be the ones responsible for fighting for justice, this fight was never just about them.
To all other people who have survived this terrible situation: remember that you are not alone, we are all supporting you.
After Leifer’s trial ended, the police have started a new investigation into her actions of avoiding punishment.
The principal escaped to Israel in 2008 after people accused her of something wrong, apparently with the support of some members of the school’s governing body. She was taken into custody in 2014 because Australia wanted her, but two years later an Israeli court stopped her from being sent back because they decided she was not mentally capable of standing trial.
But investigators who pretended to be someone else secretly recorded her going shopping and putting money into a bank. This made Israeli authorities start investigating her again and arrest her again in February 2018. The judge said she was pretending to be someone with a mental illness. -

Energy Ministry promises reward for whistleblowers who help expose gold smugglers
Ghana is considering various strategies to combat the illicit trade of gold, with the goal of maintaining the gold-for-oil policy.
Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh has suggested that individuals who expose smugglers through whistleblowing might receive rewards in the form of gold in the near future.
The objective is to control the outflow of gold from the country, ensuring the Bank of Ghana continues to possess sufficient gold for exchange to obtain cost-effective fuel.
Dr. Prempeh articulated his belief that enlisting Ghanaians as watchdogs against gold smuggling would bolster the program’s viability.
He proposed a 20% gold reward for those whose tips lead to arrests, a step that is currently under consideration for formal policy adoption.
“We’re saying anybody who gives a tipoff or tells us and identifies anybody smuggling gold and leads to an arrest, that person will get 20% of the gold. And I’m sure very soon they’ll come up’, he said, adding: “Because I believe that nobody makes 20% of this whole business, the person who is coming to buy the gold doesn’t make 20%”.
“So, if Ghanaians who are aiding them to smuggle the gold now can benefit from 20%, [it’ll curb the smuggling],” he said.
“The level that is being exported to lobby is gradually tipping, so, we might come up formally and announce that policy,” he said at the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central on Tuesday, 22 August 2023.

Zimbabwe’s elections continue despite concerns over theft
The presidential and parliamentary elections are still taking place in certain areas of Zimbabwe where voting is ongoing. There were delays, so voting had to continue for a second day. People have complained about the unfairness of the ballot counting.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced that voting would continue for longer in 40 districts, located in three out of the ten regions. This means that the area includes some parts of the capital city, Harare, which is known for having a lot of people who support the opposition party.
Only 25% of the places where people go to vote were able to start on schedule because of issues with the papers used for voting. In certain places, there weren’t enough ballot papers, so voters had to wait until late at night.
The group in charge of the elections said that court problems right before the election caused the ballot papers to arrive late.
The opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), accused the ruling party Zanu-PF of preventing voters from freely expressing their choices.
The police raided the offices of two election monitors, the Zimbabwe Election Support Network and the Election Support Centre, the day after voting.
A group called Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights said that many people were arrested and their computers were taken away.
The police have not confirmed anything yet.
The team in charge of counting votes has five days to announce who won the presidential election. -

Bric’s closest friends consider forming new bonds
Smiles, hugs, and waves are friendly gestures. If there was an accidental pattern to the second day of the Brics summit, it was about friendship. Making new friends means finding and getting to know people who are not currently in our circle of friends. Keeping old friends means maintaining and nurturing the relationships we already have with people who have been our friends for some time.
It all began with a fancy entrance and a family photo for the leaders before they went into private meetings to talk about adding more countries to their group.
All Brics members agree that more countries should be allowed to join, but they are still divided on the number of countries and the speed at which new members should be accepted.
With the Ukraine war happening, Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that becoming a member of Brics will help him prove to the West that he still has allies.
He didn’t go to South Africa because there is a warrant for his arrest for crimes in Ukraine. Instead, he made a video to criticize Western powers.
“I want to mention that the reason for the serious situation in Ukraine was some countries wanting to keep their power and control in the world. ”
Chinese President Xi Jinping has given his approval/agreement. He wants the Brics group to grow faster: “We should let more countries join Brics and work together to make world leadership more fair and reasonable. ”
However, it may not be a good idea for the other three countries to have more people.
India and China have a disagreement about land ownership. Because of this, India will not want to let new members join who always support China. At the same time, it wants to keep its connections with the US and Australia, so they need to be cautious about who they side with.
Brazil’s President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, wants to make friends with everyone. He believes that Brics should focus more on the economy rather than trying to challenge the West’s power. He talked a lot about the idea of having a shared currency that Brics countries can use for trading.
Lastly, but certainly not least, we have South Africa. This is the newest country to join our group of friends. It wants to avoid causing trouble and wants to keep on good terms with Western powers and Russia.
Over 20 countries have requested to join the group, but they need to meet certain requirements to be accepted. -

$24m IRDP Phase II launched by Ministry of Local Government to combat poverty and foster employment
The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development has launched the second stage of the Integrated Rural Development Project (IRDP). This substantial initiative aims to reduce poverty and create job prospects.
With a budget of $24 million, this program, set to run from 2022 to 2027, centers on collaboration with the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID). The objective is to offer vital infrastructure and economic empowerment to 23 disadvantaged districts throughout Ghana.
The initiative was introduced by Daniel Kwaku Botwe, the minister responsible for the sector, during a ceremony held in Accra on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
This comprehensive endeavor is set to make meaningful contributions to sectors such as education and healthcare, while also striving to eliminate poverty and enhance sustainable income growth within rural communities through the provision of microcredit.
The IRDP consists of four pivotal components, encompassing the provisioning of socio-economic infrastructure, extending credit to small-scale and medium enterprises (SMEs), conducting outreach, sensitization, and capacity-building initiatives, as well as effective management and coordination.
The financial structure of the project comprises a $20 million loan facility from OFID, complemented by contributions of $800,000 from the government and $3.2 million from beneficiary districts.
These districts include Tema West (Greater Accra), Afigya Kwabre North, Sekyere Central, Offinso North, and Sekyere Afram Plains (Ashanti), Okere, Akuapim South, and Ayensuano (Eastern), Assin North and Awutu Senya (Central), Essikado-Ketan (Western), Adaklu (Volta), Karaga (Northern), Binduri (Upper East), Sunyani West and Wenchi (Bono), Techiman (Bono East), Lambussie (Upper West), Akotombra (Western North), Krachi West (Oti), Asunafo South (Ahafo), East Gonja (Savannah), and Chereponi (North East).
Emphasizing the need for accountability, Minister Dan Botwe highlighted that the success of the IRDP lies in stringent oversight at the local level. He urged Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to enforce accountability systems, closely monitor project implementation, and ensure value for money through transparent procurement processes.
“The engineers, planners and other technical staff at the assemblies should be able to give accurate progress reports on the projects, and the MMDCEs must insist that this is done,” the minister emphasised.
The minister also emphasized that project outcomes should tangibly benefit local populations and urged stakeholders to prioritize the voices of beneficiaries.
“People should be able to see, feel and experience the impact of the projects when they are completed.
Let it not just be another project that offers an opportunity for people to make money while the people suffer,” he added.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Social Investment Fund, Justice Mensah Amankwah, echoed these sentiments, lauding the project’s potential to alleviate poverty, create jobs, and contribute to national development.
“I am particularly happy that this project is taking off because it aligns with the goals and agenda of the government to open up all parts of the country to development,” he stated.
On his part, Emeritus Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwa, who was the chairman for the occasion called on the project implementers to ensure that needs of the masses are at the center of such interventions.
“The voices of the beneficiaries are important, so let us keep that in focus when the projects are implemented,” the former Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) underscored.
The launch of IRDP phase two represents a significant stride towards fostering local economies and enhancing nationwide development. The successes of the initial phase underscore the potential benefits of this ongoing initiative for the newly added 23 beneficiary districts.
Under the first component of the project, beneficiary MMDAs will receive 215 basic socio-economic infrastructure units including 51 mechainsed boreholes, 43 sanitation facilities, 42 six-unit classroom blocks, 20 teachers’ quarters, 19 culvert/drains, 15 rural clinics, 15 nurses quarters and 1 market which will be distributed across the various assemblies.
The second component of the project will ensure the provision of credit to SMEs along the agriculture value chain adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

India turns the fourth nation in history to successfully land spacecraft on the moon
India successfully landed its spacecraft named Chandrayaan-3 on the moon, making it the fourth country to achieve this remarkable accomplishment.
The mission could make India even more powerful in space and give them a higher status globally. Before, only the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union successfully landed softly on the moon’s surface.
Chandrayaan-3’s landing site is closer to the south pole of the moon than any other spacecraft has ever gone. The area around the south pole is important for countries that explore space because scientists think there might be ice there.
The frozen water in dark holes can be changed into fuel for rockets or even used as drinking water for future missions with people on board.Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently in South Africa for the BRICS Summit, watched the landing on a screen and gave his thoughts on the livestream.
He said, “I want to talk to everyone in the world on this happy day. ” India’s moon mission is not only India’s but belongs to everyone. This is a year when India is leading the G20 countries. The idea of all people being connected and having a common future is spreading worldwide.
The way we focus on humans and the perspective we bring has been accepted everywhere. Modi also said that our moon mission is based on the same approach that focuses on humans. So, this achievement is important for everyone and will assist other countries in their future missions to the moon.
India recently tried to land its spacecraft near the southern part of the moon, but this happened shortly after another country’s unsuccessful attempt to do the same thing. Russia’s Luna 25 spacecraft had an accident and hit the moon on August 19 because its engines didn’t work properly. This stopped Russia from successfully landing on the moon for the first time in 47 years.
Chandrayaan-3 is going on a trip.
Chandrayaan-3 was going towards the moon and took some pictures with its cameras. One of these pictures was taken on August 20 and was shared by India’s space agency on Tuesday. The picture shows a close-up view of the moon’s dusty gray ground.
India’s lunar lander has three parts: a lander, rover, and propulsion module. The propulsion module helps the spacecraft travel the long distance of 384,400 kilometers (238,855 miles) between the moon and Earth. The lander, named Vikram, successfully made a gentle landing on the moon’s surface by executing precise movements after separating from the main propulsion module. Inside the lander, there is a small rover called Pragyan. It has six wheels and will come out of the lander by sliding down a ramp.
Vikram used its built-in jets to position itself correctly as it neared the moon’s surface. Then, it gradually decreased the power of its engines to safely touch down around 6 p. mIST stands for Indian Standard Time. It is the time zone used in India. When the clock shows 8:30 in the morning according to IST, it means it is currently that time in India. As people clapped and cheered in the room where mission control was located.
The Indian Space Research Organization, also known as ISRO, later said that they had talked with the spacecraft and showed the first pictures of the surface taken when it was coming down.
The lander and rover are equipped with scientific tools to gather information about the moon’s surface. They will provide valuable data for researchers to study and understand the composition of the moon.
Rewrite this text: Dr. Simple words: Doctor Angela Marusiak, a researcher at the University of Arizona, is happy that the lunar lander has a device that will try to find out if there are earthquakes inside the moon.
Marusiak said that understanding how the moon’s inner layers move could be important for future missions on its surface.
Marusiak said, “We want to make sure earthquakes wouldn’t harm the astronauts. ” If we make buildings on the moon, they would be protected from any shaking or vibrations.
The machine that lands on the moon and the vehicle that moves on the moon are expected to work for about two weeks on the moon’s surface. The propulsion module will stay in space and act as a relay station to send information back to Earth.
India is teaming up with the United States and France to become a new space power. The country’s space program is working very hard to develop new technology for exploring space and it is one of the busiest in the world.
Chandrayaan-3 has made India proud and has sparked a lot of interest throughout the country. Many people gathered at a space center in Andhra Pradesh state to watch a mission take off in July. On Wednesday, over 8 million people watched a livestream of the landing.
Around 500 people came together at India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in New Delhi on Wednesday. The event was shown live on a screen inside an auditorium and also outside in a temporary pavilion. After the team scored a touchdown and it was confirmed, the people in the audience were given Indian sweets to celebrate. Firecrackers were also set off, and the spectators clapped and cheered for over a minute.
People were saying “victory to India” and kids were happily waving the Indian flag.
India’s mission has become even more important since Russia failed in their attempt to land on Luna 25. India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission was a success, making India the second country after China to land a spacecraft on the moon in this century. China has already landed three spacecraft on the moon since 2013, including the first landing on the moon’s far side. The final American spacecraft to land on the moon was called Apollo 17. It happened in the year 1972.
Over twelve countries are planning to go to the moon soon. Japan’s space agency, called the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, will also launch their mission this month. The United States is planning to send three commercial spacecraft to the moon, possibly starting this year. At the same time, NASA is also working on a mission called Artemis III, with the goal of sending astronauts back to the moon by 2025.
But it is still difficult to land on the moon. India tried to land a spacecraft on the moon in 2019, but it didn’t work. Recently, two spaceships from different countries have landed forcefully on the moon. One was from Israel in 2019, and the other was from Japan in April.
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said on Sunday that landing on the Moon is definitely a difficult task. But many people want to explore the Moon again because it has a lot of valuable scientific discoveries to offer. That is why there have been many recent attempts to land on its surface. We are excited to learn more in the future, especially from India’s Chandraayan-3 mission.
On Wednesday, Nelson also posted on social media to say, “Congratulations to India for becoming the fourth country to safely land a spacecraft on the Moon. We are happy to be your partner for this task.
India has also agreed to the United States’ Artemis Accords, which are a set of suggested guidelines for future moon exploration. Russia and China have not agreed to the accords. -

Conflict erupts over property of late Supreme Court judge
Just a little over a year after the demise of Dr Seth Twum, a former Justice of the Supreme Court, a legal confrontation has arisen within the family.
Two of his offspring have initiated legal action against his widow and four other siblings, contesting the distribution of his assets.
The pair argue that their deceased father’s Last Will and Testament had been fabricated by certain ex-staff members from his law practice, along with one of his daughters.
Therefore, Abena Twum and Esther Twum (the Plaintiffs) are challenging the legitimacy of a will that is claimed to have been authored by their late father.
According to a news article dated August 23, 2023, published by The Ghanaian Chronicle, the will currently under dispute in the High Court reportedly does not include any reference to the Plaintiffs when it comes to the division of the assets belonging to the deceased Justice Twum. These assets are said to consist of land, investments, and funds held in both his Barclays Bank accounts in Ghana and the United Kingdom.
“These properties include a Cantonments building leased to Free Zones Authority, ICON property, adjacent the American Embassy, a double plot at Trassacco Valley, a residential property at East Legon, as well as a piece of land at Abelenkpe, all in Accra.”
According to GhanaWeb checks the late Justice originally had seven children – the first child is late, the plaintiffs are Esther (second), Abena (third).
The duo, who have different mothers, want the court among other things to declare their father’s Will as deposited with the courts as forged and invalid.
They are challenging their half siblings (Defendants), Audrey Twum (forth and a lawyer) Seth Kwame Twum (fifth), Evelyn (sixth) and Leonora Nana Yaa Twum (seventh) and their mother Julie Twum.
Plaintiffs state that their respective mothers were not married to their father at the time they were born, however, Madam Julie was their late father’s legal wife.
Additional files from The Ghanaian Chronicle story:
According to their claim, the circumstances under which the purported will of the deceased was deposited at the High Court Registry on June 7, 2022 and read on December 21, 2022 was a forgery, invalid, null and void.
They are, therefore, praying the High Court for an Order of Injunction to restrain the Defendants, their Assigns and Privies, Agents, Servants, Workmen, Allottees, Grantees and Successors in interest, other Alienees and Relations whatsoever and howsoever described from dealing with all properties of Dr. Seth Twum (deceased), until Letters of Administration have been granted.
The Plaintiffs are also seeking from the Court an order for accounts on the properties of late Dr. Seth Twum in the possession of the Defendants.
Who was Justice (Dr.) Seth Twum?
Seth Twum is a former Ghanaian Supreme Court Judge. He served on the Supreme Court bench from 2002 to 2007.
Twum was born on 20 March 1937. He had his secondary education at the Achimota School.
He was nominated in July 2002 and was vetted in September that same year. A month later, he was approved by parliament and was sworn into office in November that year together with Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, Justice Stephen Alan Brobbey, and Justice Samuel Glenn Baddoo by the then-president John Agyekum Kufour.
He retired on 20 March 2007 at the mandatory retirement age of seventy (70) years.

China bars importation of seafood from Japan as Tokyo starts discharging radioactive water
China announced on Thursday that it will prohibit the importation of seafood from Japan. Japan has made the decision to discharge radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear plant, so they are taking action. This new move has intensified the existing tension between China and Japan.
The release of this plan has caused a lot of disagreement among people. – A large number of consumers and several countries are highly opposed to it, with Beijing at the forefront of the disapproval. China expressed strong displeasure and condemned the operation initiated on Thursday afternoon as self-centered and reckless.
China’s customs department said it will no longer import any sea products from Japan. This could also affect other ocean products like sea salt and seaweed.
The action was taken to make sure that food in China does not become contaminated by radioactive materials from the water released by the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. This is important for the safety of Chinese people who consume the food.
Japan has been saying that it is safe to release the treated water and it needs to be done quickly to make room at the broken nuclear power plant.
The discharge started at 1 p. mThe local time was declared as midnight ET by the state-owned electricity company called Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO).
The company said it thinks it will release only about 200 or 210 cubic meters of cleaned wastewater. Starting on Friday, they will release 456 cubic meters of cleaned wastewater every day for 24 hours. In total, they will release 7,800 cubic meters over the course of 17 days.
TEPCO announced that they would stop the operation right away and look into any problems with the equipment or the level of diluted wastewater.
On Thursday, a boat will be sent to the harbor to collect samples of wastewater. These samples will be tested to make sure they meet international safety standards.
Japan experienced a very powerful earthquake and tsunami in 2011. This caused the water in the Fukushima nuclear plant to get contaminated with extremely dangerous radioactive substances. After that, they added more water to cool down the leftover fuel in the reactors. However, water from the ground and rain also got in, making the wastewater even more radioactive.
The idea to let the water go has been in progress for a long time. In 2019, officials said they were running out of room to keep the stuff and had no choice but to release it in a safe and very diluted form.
Some governments are in favor of Japan’s actions, but others strongly disagree. Many people in Asia are stockpiling salt and seafood because they are worried about the potential for pollution in the future.
The US supports Japan, and Taiwan also agrees that the amount of tritium being released should have only a small impact.
But China and the Pacific Islands have strongly expressed their disagreement, saying that the release could affect many countries in the region and around the world, and could possibly be harmful to people’s health and the ocean ecosystem.
Before China said they would stop selling seafood, they said that releasing the dirty water would cause problems for everyone and hurt future generations of people.
On Thursday, many Chinese people were very angry and sad about the release. They showed their feelings on social media, with over 800 million views on Weibo in just a few hours for a hashtag about it.
Some people agreed with the ban on seafood, but others wanted the authorities to do more. “One person suggested that we should stop allowing the sale of products from Japan. ”
Lots of people in China have mixed feelings about Japan. Despite many Chinese people liking Japanese products and culture, there are often calls to boycott everything Japanese when past conflicts resurface due to current disputes between the two countries.
In 2012, there were many protests against Japan in China’s cities because Japan made the decision to own some islands in the East China Sea that both Tokyo and Beijing said belonged to them. These protests became violent.
The complete ban on seafood and aquatic products from Japan now includes all areas affected by regulations in the past, including Fukushima and nine other regions. Earlier this week, Hong Kong said that it would not allow any food from certain parts of Japan to be brought into the city.
Mainland China and Hong Kong are Japan’s two largest markets for seafood exports. This could be a problem for Japan’s fishing industry.
Even though many people disagree, the Japanese authorities and their international supporters, like the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, believe that the release is not harmful.
Over time, the dirty water has been regularly cleaned to remove all the bad stuff, and then kept in containers. TEPCO says that a lot of the water is treated again.
When the dirty water is let go, it will mix with clean water, which will make it have only a tiny bit of radioactive stuff in it. It will go through a tunnel underwater that is about 1 kilometer away from the coast and into the Pacific Ocean.
Other organizations like the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency will watch the release of waste both during and after it happens.
The IAEA said that they have staff members in a newly-opened office in Fukushima. They will keep an eye on the situation there for many years. -

Wagner fighters threaten Putin over ‘death’ of commander Prigozhin in a plane accident
Wagner soldiers have made a scary warning to Vladimir Putin soon after their boss Yevgeny Prigozhin was said to have died in a plane accident in Russia.
The Wagner leader who was 62 years old was in his own plane when it suddenly fell to the ground about 60 miles north of Moscow, according to officials from Russia.
According to Russia’s aviation authority, all 10 people who were on the plane are confirmed to have died. The names of the victims have been released.
Dmitry Ukin, the person who helped start the Wagner Group and worked closely with Prigozhin, was one of the people who died when the Embraer jet suddenly fell from the sky.
People have been wondering and guessing about whether or not the warlord was really on the plane that was going from Moscow to St Petersburg.
The accident near the village of Kuzhenkino in the Tver region caused suspicion because it occurred precisely two months after Prigozhin attempted to rebel against Vladimir Putin, but it didn’t last very long.
According to The Sun, Wagner fighters have threatened to launch a second protest in Moscow if their leader is not alive.
A message from a paramilitary group last night said: ‘There are rumors that the leader of Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has died. ‘
We think that Putin and other Kremlin officials tried to kill him.
If we find out for sure that Prigozhin has died, we will plan another protest in Moscow called the “March of Justice”. It would be better for him to be alive because it will benefit you.
More men with guns, who say they are part of the same team, mentioned in a video on the internet that there is a lot of conversation happening about what the Wagner Group will do. We want to share something with you.
‘We are about to begin, prepare yourselves for us. ‘
Neither the UK nor US governments have made an official statement, and the Kremlin has not officially identified Prigozhin as one of the casualties.
But, government-controlled media and social media accounts connected to Wagner have said that both Prigozhin and Utkin are no longer alive.
Other people on the plane who were identified by Russian officials include Sergey Propustin, Evgeniy Makaryan, Aleksandr Totomin, Valeriy Chekalov, and Nikolay Matuseev.
The three people working on the plane were pilot Aleksei Levshin, assistant pilot Rustam Karimov, and flight attendant Kristina Raspopova.
One well-known Wagner channel, Grey Zone, said that Prigozhin died and praised him as a hero and patriot who was killed by people who betrayed Russia.
His supporters are showing their respect and sadness by lighting up his office windows in St Petersburg with a big cross at night. They also left flowers and lit candles near the offices on Thursday.
Many ideas are being talked about regarding this situation. Some people who like him think Russia is to blame, while others think Ukraine is responsible.
The Kremlin’s propaganda machine has a history of spreading false information, so there could be a possibility that disinformation is being spread.
Putin was at a concert celebrating the Soviet troops’ win in the Battle of Kursk during World War II when the accident occurred.
Abbas Gallyamov, a person who used to write speeches for Putin and now criticizes him, suggested that Putin was responsible for the crash and used it to increase his power.
“He wrote on Telegram that the government now believes it cannot go against Putin. ” Putin is very powerful and able to get back at people who have wronged him.
Bill Browder is a businessman who knows a lot about Russia and he criticizes the Kremlin. He agrees with the statement that Putin does not forgive or forget.
He appeared embarrassed and powerless while Prigozhin acted without any worry in the world (after the rebellion). He wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, that this will make his authority stronger.
The crash site of a business jet in Russia where the wreckage is found.During his trip to California, President Joe Biden informed the reporters that he was unaware of what had occurred.
“But I am not shocked,” Mr. Biden stated ‘Putin is responsible for most of what happens in Russia. ’
Shortly after the accident, another plane owned by Prigozhin that seemed to be going to St Petersburg also, based on flight tracking information, landed at Ostafyevo airport near Moscow.
The second plane has made people think that Prigozhin might still be alive and pretending to be dead, just like he did in 2019.
But Vladimir Rogov, a person chosen by Russia to work in the partially controlled Zaporizhzhia region in Ukraine, said he spoke to Wagner leaders who confirmed that Prigozhin was on board.
We have read the reports. “If it is proven to be true, nobody should be caught off guard,” expressed the US National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson.
Keir Giles, an expert on Russia from a think-tank called Chatham House, has advised to be careful.
He said that many people have changed their name to Yevgeniy Prigozhin to make it difficult to know where he has been going.
Mr Giles said, “Don’t be surprised if he appears soon in a new video from Africa. ” -

Alan Kyerematen’s signed NPP Resignation Letter, Graphic headline pop up
A letter written and signed in 2007 by then failed presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Alan Kyerematen to resign from the party has popped up once again on social media.
Mr. Kyerematen reportedly presented that circulating resignation letter personally to the then chairman of the NPP, Mr. Peter Mac Manu in Accra.
At the time, Alan Kyerematen was responsible for Identifiable Groups in the 2007 campaign team of the then flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo who went ahead to lose the 2008 election to NDC’s Atta Mills.
The letter going round follows a statement by Director of Operations of Alan Kyeremateng’s 2024 campaign, Hopeson Adorye claiming Northerners in NPP are most fit as running mates.
His statement has been condemned widely. He was addressing a Health walk held in Kumasi dubbed a “Walk for Alan’’ over the weekend in a video trending on social media, Hopeson allegedly made the remark against Northerners in the NPP.
He said: “There is one thing I am going to say. The NPP has a tradition. Our tradition is Busia, Danquah and Dombo. Danquah represents Eastern Region and the bottom (south), Danquah represents Ashanti Region and the Bono areas, while Dombo represents Northern Region’.
In reaction, a member of the NPP, Musah Superior described the comments by Mr Adorye as divisive, calling on him to retract his remarks and apologize to Northerners.

Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, the former Minister for Finance under the late Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills’ administration, has expressed his conviction that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will emerge victorious in the upcoming 2024 General Election. He made this statement while discussing the party’s prospects on CitiTV.

Dr. Duffuor highlighted the economic achievements of the NDC during its previous terms in power. He noted that during his tenure as the Minister for Finance, the party achieved substantial progress in various economic indicators. Former supreme Justice’s children in ‘dirty’ fight over his properties
A dispute has arisen over the estate of the late Justice of the Supreme Court, Dr. Seth Twum, who passed away on May 25, 2022. His two children, Abena Twum and Esther Twum, have taken legal action against four others, including his widow, alleging that their late father’s Will had been forged by former employees of his law firm and one of his daughters. The legal proceedings have been brought before the High Court, where the validity of the contested will is being challenged.
According to a report by The Ghanaian Chronicle newspaper on August 23, 2023, the disputed will reportedly excludes the plaintiffs, Abena and Esther, from inheriting any portion of the late Justice Twum’s estate. This estate comprises various properties such as a Cantonments building leased to the Free Zones Authority, an ICON property adjacent to the American Embassy, a double plot at Trassacco Valley, a residential property at East Legon, and a piece of land at Abelenkpe in Accra. The contested will allegedly makes no mention of the plaintiffs in the distribution of these properties, which also include investments and funds in Barclays Bank Ghana and United Kingdom accounts.
GhanaWeb investigations have revealed that the late Justice Twum had seven children in total, with the first child being deceased. The plaintiffs, Esther (second child) and Abena (third child), had different mothers from their father’s widow, Julie Twum.
The plaintiffs are seeking several legal remedies through the court, including a declaration that the will deposited with the court is forged and invalid. They are contesting their half-siblings’ (defendants’) claims to the estate, which includes Audrey Twum (fourth child and a lawyer), Seth Kwame Twum (fifth child), Evelyn (sixth child), and Leonora Nana Yaa Twum (seventh child), along with their mother, Julie Twum.
Abena and Esther assert that their respective mothers were not legally married to their father when they were born. However, Julie Twum was recognized as their late father’s legal wife.
The legal action is centered on the alleged forgery of the deceased’s will, which was deposited at the High Court Registry on June 7, 2022, and subsequently read on December 21, 2022. The plaintiffs are seeking an injunction to prevent the defendants from dealing with any of Dr. Seth Twum’s properties until Letters of Administration are granted.
In addition to the injunction, the plaintiffs are also requesting an order for an account of the properties belonging to the late Dr. Seth Twum that are currently in possession of the defendants.
Justice (Dr.) Seth Twum, a former Supreme Court Judge, served on the Supreme Court bench from 2002 to 2007. Born on March 20, 1937, he had an esteemed legal career and retired upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of seventy (70) years on March 20, 2007.

My brother-in-law saw me his dream, accused me of being a witch – Sad story of a ‘witch camp’ inmate in Ghana
A woman has unveiled a heart-wrenching tale of how she ended up at the Kukuo witch camp.
In a candid revelation, the woman disclosed that her agonising journey to the camp was triggered by none other than her own son-in-law, who accused her of practicing witchcraft.
“My brother-in-law’s son saw me in his dreams. I was accused of stalking the boy using witchcraft and I was sent out of my community,” she recalled.
The witchcraft accusations phenomenon is a deeply entrenched belief system in some societies in Ghana.
These beliefs perpetuate a cycle of fear, discrimination, and social exclusion for its victims.
How the Fetish Priest confirms the ‘witch’s’ status
At Kokuo, it is believed that the main aim of a witch is to kill her fellow humans.
So to verify if one is indeed a witch, the accused is taken to a shrine, where some rituals are performed using the blood of a fowl. The ghost of the deceased is summoned, where it is requested to take justice if there is unfair play.
“We have a shrine here. When they come, we have a traditional way to do it.
We send them to that place with a fowl, and from there, we just mix some other things. We believe that spiritually, they have killed their fellow human beings.
Mostly, when they come, we send the fowl along. When we get there, we slaughter the fowl. Before slaughtering the fowl, the woman will tell the ghost that I am pure and clean, what they said I have done. I have nothing to do with it. She will make a promise to the ghost that if what they accuse me of is really my fault, the ghost should deal with me directly,” a man believed to be the apprentice of a fetish priest said.
After this, the accused is made to drink the potion.
“So then we slaughter the fowl, take a little blood from the fowl, mix it with water and give it to the woman to drink.
Later, the chief priest will then talk to the ghost that whenever the woman tries to do certain things, the ghost should deal with the woman.”
Following the ritual, the accused is then asked whether she would prefer to stay at the camp or return to her community.
Due to the threat to their lives, most of the accused decide to stay at the camp.
“After performing the ritual, the woman would be asked if she is willing to stay or go back to her previous location, majority of them stay here. Because going back to the community may cause mayhem.”
In Ghana, the activities of witch doctors are illegal.
On July 27, 2023, Parliament amended the Criminal Offences Act 1960, Act 29, thereby criminalising the declaration, accusation, naming or labelling of another person as a witch in Ghana.
This prohibits any person from practicing as a witch doctor or witchfinder.
In 2020, 90-year-old Madam Akua Denteh was lynched in the Savanah region after she was accused of being a witch.
In a viral video, the deceased was slapped, kicked, and caned at Kafaba near Salaga in the East Gonja Municipality.
Six people were later arrested, including the Kafaba Chief, Zackaria Yahaya for their roles in the gruesome killing.
Many Ghanaians, including President Akufo-Addo condemned the killing.
Three Members of Parliament in 2021 then introduced the Private Members’ Bill aiming to amend the Criminal and Other Offences Act 1960 (Act 29) to prohibit the practices of witch doctors and witchfinders.
The bill’s sponsors were Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu, representing Madina constituency, Hajia Laadi Ayii Ayamba, representing Pusiga constituency, and Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, representing Wa East constituency.
Per report, the president has assented to the amended bill.

4 Causes of a bloated stomach and how to get rid of it
A bloated stomach can be uncomfortable and sometimes even painful. There are several potential causes for bloating, and each may require a different approach to alleviate the symptoms. Here are four common causes of a bloated stomach and how to address them:
- Digestive Issues:
- Cause: Poor digestion, gas, and constipation can lead to bloating. When food isn’t properly broken down, it can cause gas to accumulate in your stomach and intestines.
- Solution: Eat smaller, more frequent meals to ease the digestive process. Increase your fiber intake gradually to help regulate bowel movements. Staying hydrated and engaging in regular physical activity can also aid digestion.
- Dietary Factors:
- Cause: Certain foods can contribute to bloating, such as those high in salt, sugar, and artificial sweeteners. Carbonated beverages, cruciferous vegetables (like broccoli and cauliflower), and legumes are known to cause gas and bloating in some individuals.
- Solution: Identify specific trigger foods and try to limit their consumption. Focus on a well-balanced diet rich in whole foods, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Consider keeping a food diary to track which foods might be causing your bloating.
- Swallowing Air:
- Cause: Eating or drinking too quickly, using straws, chewing gum, and even anxiety can lead to swallowing excess air, which can result in bloating.
- Solution: Eat and drink more slowly, and avoid using straws and chewing gum. Practice relaxation techniques to manage stress and anxiety.
- Gastrointestinal Disorders:
- Cause: Conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), lactose intolerance, and celiac disease can cause chronic bloating. These disorders affect how your body processes certain foods and can lead to digestive discomfort.
- Solution: If you suspect an underlying gastrointestinal disorder, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and management. They can recommend dietary changes, medications, or other treatments based on the specific condition.
Additional Tips to Relieve Bloating:
- Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water can help prevent constipation and aid digestion.
- Limit Sodium Intake: High sodium intake can lead to water retention and bloating. Be mindful of your salt consumption.
- Probiotics: Consuming foods or supplements with probiotics (good bacteria) can promote a healthy gut, which might help alleviate bloating for some people.
- Herbal Teas: Certain herbal teas, like peppermint or ginger tea, are known to have soothing effects on the digestive system.
- Regular Exercise: Physical activity can help stimulate digestion and reduce bloating.
If your bloating persists despite making lifestyle changes or if it’s accompanied by severe pain, changes in bowel habits, or other concerning symptoms, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional. They can help identify the underlying cause and recommend appropriate treatment.

Politicians milking the nation through corruption – Rev Opuni-Frimpong
Rev. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, a former general secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana has accused Ghanaian politicians, of milking the country dry through corruption.
According to him, both former and current government officials have not persuaded anyone that they are committed to fighting corruption.
This, he said was because politicians are benefiting from the nation through corruption.
“They are all benefiting from it. Now going into politics has become business. They are all milking the nation. Therefore, if I found the government official just doing this when I heard it in the room. It sounds like a cliché,” he added
Mr. Yaw Osafo Maafo, a Senior Presidential Advisor, had urged Christians to take the initiative in the fight against corruption.
Speaking to the 23rd General Meeting of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Saturday, August 19, 2023 in Kwahu Abetifi in the Eastern Region, Mr. Yaw Osafo-Maafo questioned the church’s moral influence given that 70% of Ghanaians claim to be Christians.
According to Mr. Osafo-Maafo, corruption in Ghana is getting worse rather than better, which necessitates reflection on the part of the church and the government in order to identify workable solutions to curb the problem.
“I think we need to go back and visit the drawing board to see what we should do as a christian group to influence the behaviour of the system, is it that your preachings, your moral lessons are now not effective? We should ask a few questions, if indeed 70 percent of us are christians and corruption begins to go from bad to worse, what is really happening. We need to do some retrospection together as a country with the government taking certain actions to redeem the nation from corruption,” he added
But in response to that call, Rev. Opuni-Frimpong claimed it was a “political sound bite” in a radio interview with Accra-based Starr FM on August 23, 2023.
“Past and present governments have not proved to anybody that they are serious with the corruption fight. They have just made the corruption fight a political sound bite.”
Rev. Opuni Frimpong questioned the rationale behind Mr. Osafo-Maafo’s query and exhortation for Christians to combat corruption. He claimed that the government only asks for evidence when it suspects one of its appointees of corruption.
“I was expecting what he said should come from a Pastor, even if they clap for him. Going back he must ask himself what exactly he was telling us. Is fighting corruption a church business? What are we hearing from Parliament? The kind of things from Ministries and all that they go to Parliament for on the Auditor General’s Report.
“You expect Pastors and Bishops to do what? How many people (accused of corruption) even from the government’s own side even those that people have brought up, what have we heard? Bring evidence. Is that not what the pattern has been over the years?” Rev Opuni-Frimpong stated.
He continued: “You leave all your cabinet meetings only to go and stand before innocent church people and ask them you are 72 percent what? You are in government, you are on cabinet, you advise President, and the question of why should come to him. Not to Pastors, not church members. So to me what I heard in the room is a political soundbite.”

Houston Vice Mayor Pro-Tempore in tears after visiting a slave graveyard in Ghana
Vice Mayor Pro-Tempore of Houston, Martha Castex-Tatum, could not hold back her tears during a visit to Ghana’s Slave Graveyard in Cape Coast.
Martha was among a delegation that accompanied the Mayor of Houston, Texas, Sylvester Turner, on a visit to some West African countries, which included Ghana.
During the tour of the historical site, the weight of history and the profound human suffering etched into the land overwhelmed her, evoking a visceral and emotional response that she couldn’t contain.
Speaking on the sidelines of the visit, she remarked that: “The real reason we’ve journeyed here was to connect with our ancestors and having the opportunity to do that today, I am reminded of what a chief once told me, the blood within us is stronger than the sea that divides us.”
Her visit to this haunting site was more than just a journey; it was a confrontation with the painful past of the transatlantic slave trade.
As she gazed upon the resting place of countless souls who had endured unimaginable hardships, the Vice Mayor Pro was reminded of the resilience and suffering that had taken place on this very ground.

Electrician in police custody for allegedly strangling girlfriend to death
A 38-year-old electrician accused of strangling his 20-year-old girlfriend to death at Kpone Bawaleshie in the Greater Accra Region has been remanded into police custody by a Kaneshie District Court.
Kwame Krampah, aka Awana, is said to have tied the deceased’s neck from behind with a blue nylon rope and strangled her after which he allegedly had sex with the dead body before burying it in the neighborhood.
The court has allowed Krampah, who is accused of murder, to maintain his plea.
He was ordered to appear again on September 5, 2023 by the court presided over by Ms. Ama Adomako Kwakye.
According to the prosecution, which was overseen by Chief Inspector Margaret O. Boadi, the accused also worked as a plumber while the complainant Joyce Agbo was a trader.
The complainant and Krampah were said to live in Bawaleshie.
The complainant, Judith Kpeglo’s mother, was the defendant, according to the prosecution.
The deceased, who worked as a student teacher at a school in Kpone Bawaleshie, was said by the prosecutor to have left for work on July 11, 2023, but never came home.
According to the report, the complainant reported her missing daughter (who has since passed away) to the police on July 17, 2023.
The boyfriend of the deceased, Krampah, was detained, according to the prosecution, as a result of intelligence.
Investigations had shown that on July 11, 2023, at or around 2:00 p.m., the deceased had left the school to purchase food before going to the accused’s home to consume it.
According to the report, after the deceased finished eating, she informed Krampah that she was returning to school. Unprompted, Krampah then attacked the deceased from behind with a blue nylon rope and strangled her.
It stated that Krampah buried the deceased on a nearby plot at around 10:00 p.m. the same day.
The prosecution claimed that Krampah admitted the crime in his caution statement and directed the police to the location of the alleged burial site.
The body was exhumed with a court order, according to the prosecution, and deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Manchester United loses 3-0 to Burnley in a friendly match
Manchester United had a disappointing start to the new season as they lost 3-0 to Burnley in a private match without spectators.
The Red Devils haven’t had a great start to the new Premier League season, even though they had spent a lot of money over the summer. They barely won against Wolves and then lost when they played against Tottenham.
They were very lucky to win the first game of the season at Old Trafford. Wolves had many opportunities to score but missed and they were also not given a penalty when Andre Onana fouled Sasa Kalajdzic.
United had chances to go in front in north London a week later but were outplayed in the second half, resulting in a 2-0 loss.
In both of those matches, Erik ten Hag chose the same team. Marcus Rashford was chosen to lead the team’s attacking line. Casemiro was left alone in the midfield, with Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes playing in front of him. These two choices made by Erik ten Hag have received some criticism.
Because some players aren’t fully fit and others are recovering from injuries, Ten Hag decided to have a private practice match at Carrington on Wednesday to improve their physical condition.
The team mostly had young players, but there were also some familiar ones. Some of these familiar players might play on Saturday when Nottingham Forest comes to Old Trafford.
Anthony Martial, who was getting better from a leg injury, was chosen to be in charge of the team while Facundo Pellistri, who also played a bit later in the match against Spurs, also got a chance to play.
Mason Mount got hurt and will miss the next two matches. Either Scott McTominay or Christian Eriksen might take his place in the starting team. Ten Hag may have given a hint about his choice when picking the team for the Burnley match.
McTominay, who many thought might leave this summer, played in the midfield position, while Eriksen practiced with the rest of the main team.
Other players who played against Burnley were Jonny Evans, Hannibal Mejbri, Alvaro Fernandez, and Donny van de Beek.
Despite having a good team, United lost the match 3-0. Vincent Kompany chose a strong team because Burnley did not play at the weekend since their game against Luton Town was postponed due to stadium improvements.
This is the second friendly match that United has played without spectators since the season began. Last week, they did slightly better and won against Everton 2-0 with the help of an own goal and a goal from McTominay.
After their next game against Forest at Old Trafford, the Red Devils will be facing Arsenal in a big match at the Emirates. They need to make significant improvements if they want to achieve a positive outcome before the international break. -

Tigray celebrates a festival amid its post-war happiness
Residents of Mekelle, a city in northern Ethiopia, are filled with happiness and anticipation as they commemorate the Ashenda Festival.
The cultural event was stopped because of a two-year civil war that ended in November.
This is a big festival that happens in Tigray, Amhara, and Eritrea. It is celebrated to show respect to the Virgin Mary going up to heaven.
The name Ashenda comes from the type of grass that young women and girls use to decorate their traditional dresses by tying it around their waist.
Even though it’s raining, girls and young women go out in groups of six to eight. They sing Ashenda songs as they visit different houses. In return, they are given bread and a local beer called siwa.
After that, they go to a field or park that’s close by. They take it easy and sing for the people who walk by.
Men are advised to give gifts of money as a way of saying thank you. Usually, this money is given to the Orthodox Church or other charities after the celebration. -

I don’t make decisions without my husband- Mcbrown
Media personality Nana Ama McBrown has revealed how she handles aspects of her work with her husband.
She explained that despite consulting her husband, who also serves as her manager, she chooses the contracts to sign, the brands to collaborate with, the payment terms, and other such matters.
Speaking to KNUST students about marriage and career management, McBrown asserted that making these choices on her own does not make her a haughty or disrespectful wife.
According to her, she personally sets a fee for business transactions because the majority of them involve a significant commitment and stress.
McBrown said because she does the work, she feels the pain of being stressed out by the companies more.
“My husband is the head of the family and I don’t make decisions without him, but I also determine what to work with. I reject certain contracts. This whole thing is different from marriage. It is my career. I differentiate work from family life. I speak to my husband about work and we make certain decisions together but I select the brands I work with.
“If a company brings an offer to the table for me to become a brand ambassador, and I tell my husband we should take one cedi, even when he takes 99.9, I won’t go through with the offer. It’s different from being a husband because, at that time, he was representing the company as a manager. I tell him that with the stress involved and I won’t settle for less because I am the one doing the work. When I do that, I don’t insult his intelligence or disrespect him.
Despite the fact that marriage is a good thing, McBrown also argued that women should be successful before entering the marriage market.
She said the best decision she ever made was to make a name for herself before heading into marriage.
“Don’t make marriage your first call. I have been with my husband for twelve years and I’ll say that before I met him, I was very mature. One of the things that got me comfortable is that I found myself before I met my husband. I was a woman of my own. I got my first house before I married, so it is safe to say I didn’t need a man,” she stated.

Use of Forces in Niger our last resort – Ecowas mediator
The person leading negotiations in the Niger crisis from West Africa, former military leader General Abdulsalami Abubakar from Nigeria, has said that using military force is the final choice to solve the problem in the country.
He mentioned that his team from Ecowas has begun discussing with the military junta leader Gen Abdourahmane Tchiani and is hopeful for a peaceful solution.
Gen Tchiani made a plan that would take three years to complete. However, Ecowas did not agree with this plan.
West Africa is still in a tense situation because the leader of the military group is not backing down even though there is a risk of other countries’ militaries getting involved.
While Ecowas says they are considering all possibilities, the junta’s plan to rule for three years before returning power to civilians has left regional leaders uncertain about how to react.
But General Abubakar said in an interview with the BBC that his recent trip to Niger has created an opportunity for talking and negotiating.
He said that they will do everything necessary to make sure that Niger returns to following the constitution using force if needed. It doesn’t always result in going to war, but no one is planning or wanting to go to war because there’s no way to predict the outcome of a war.
Gen Abubakar also met the former President, Mohamed Bazoum.
The president expressed dissatisfaction with how he has been treated. It has been confirmed that they have stopped the electricity in his place and are keeping him under supervision.
“He felt very angry about how he was treated and he believes he is being trapped without any valid reason. ”
The previous leader of Nigeria said that the penalties imposed by Ecowas were seriously affecting Niger and causing strong anger towards the group of West African countries. -

Hawaii wildfires: Over thousand people still missing
Over 1,000 people are still missing after a fire burned through the town of Lahaina in Hawaii two weeks ago, according to officials.
Officials will soon release a list of the people who are missing so that they can better look for them.
Some search teams are looking through the debris and are only finding bones or small pieces of bodies. This makes the job hard.
Currently, 115 people have been confirmed to have died.
On August 8th, the fires devastated a large part of the old town of Lahaina on the island of Maui. These fires are now seen as the most severe natural disaster to ever happen in Hawaii.
At a meeting with reporters on Tuesday, FBI special agent Steven Merrill who is in charge of the search said: “We may not know everything about everyone in the end. ”
“We are looking at everyone on that list until we can show that they are not on that list. ”
About 1,400 out of the original 2,500 missing people have been located. However, officials have had a hard time determining the exact number of people who are missing.
“Every day, the numbers will be different,” Mr Merrill commented. The new guess for the number of missing people comes after Maui mayor Richard Bissen said it was around 850.
Officials don’t know how many of the over 1000 missing people are believed to be dead.
Groups of people with special dogs have been searching the area that was burned for dead bodies. The very hot fire has made things difficult because some search teams are only finding bones or small pieces of bodies in piles of ashes.
The authorities are asking family members to give their DNA to assist in identifying the victims.
According to Julie French from ANDE, a DNA analysis company, they have gathered at least 104 samples to make family trees or pedigrees.
The amount of money that the damage caused is believed to be around $6 billion or £4. 7 billion
Officials have revealed the names of the 13 people who lost their lives in the fire. These people include someone who loves music, kind grandmothers, and a motivating father. -

Idi Amin lectureship to resume – report
The people in charge of a public talk that aims to remember Ugandan leader Idi Amin, which has caused a lot of disagreement, have stated that they intend to continue with the event. This information comes from Uganda‘s privately-owned newspaper, Daily Monitor.
Kaps Fungaroo Hassan, who speaks for the group, told the local news that the lecture is part of a project to change the story about Amin so it shows his legacy as fair and truthful, how they see it.
Mr Hassan said that people have wrongly made Amin out to be a bad person by blaming him for things he didn’t do and by ignoring the positive things he did for Uganda and Africa.
Mr Hassan said to the local media that we are not happy with the way people remember Idi Amin. They focus only on the bad things about him. That’s why we think it’s important to take another look at his life and what he did when he was in charge.
Mr Hassan said that the group hopes people will remember Amin for helping countries in southern Africa gain independence, like South Africa, Namibia, and Angola. He did this when he was the leader of the African Union.
Amin is well-known for being a cruel leader who is famously depicted in the acclaimed 2006 Hollywood movie Last King of Scotland.
The lecture is happening on September 1st. -

Manchester United nearing £34.1 million deal to acquire Jean-Clair Todibo
Reports from France suggest that Manchester United are getting closer to signing Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice. The deal is said to be worth £34. 1m
Erik ten Hag wants to improve his defense this summer, even though the club was not able to sell Harry Maguire.
United agreed to sell Maguire to West Ham for £30 million, but Maguire decided not to join the team in London.
In July, Maguire lost his position as club captain. He did not play in the team that went to London and lost 2-0 against Spurs on Saturday.
United wanted to sign Benjamin Pavard when they thought Maguire was going to join the Hammers, but Pavard will now be joining Inter Milan because the deal with Maguire fell through.
Footballer Jean Clair Todibo is currently playing for OGC Nice.
Todibo is worth £34 million.
Because of this, Manchester United has had to consider other options for new players, and now it seems that Todibo is close to finalizing a transfer to Old Trafford, as reported by L’Equipe.
The ex-Barcelona player, who is 23 years old, is now the vice-captain of Nice because he has been playing really well in the south of France.
Ten Hag is interested in him because he is strong, fast, and good at playing with the ball.
It is said that Manchester United is close to making a deal worth £34. 1m, which would bring their total summer spending to £200m. -

Mason Greenwood will soon have the opportunity to switch international teams
Reports suggest that Mason Greenwood may have the opportunity to change the national team he plays for.
Greenwood wants to bring his career back to life. It has been confirmed on Monday that he will be leaving Manchester United after the club’s investigation.
He was stopped from doing his job by United in January 2022 after he was arrested and later accused by Manchester Police of trying to rape someone, being controlling, and assaulting them.
In February, all the accusations against Greenwood were withdrawn. However, United wanted to investigate the situation themselves and have now chosen to separate from the striker.
We don’t know which club Greenwood will join next, but it’s very likely to be in another country. Roma is one of the teams that might sign him.
Greenwood played for England once in international games but hasn’t been chosen since he was arrested and charged. It doesn’t seem like Gareth Southgate will pick him anytime soon.
According to the Daily Mail, Jamaica wants to give Greenwood the opportunity to switch to their national team.
Greenwood was born in Bradford, but he can play for The Reggae Boyz because he has Jamaican family background.
Greenwood can change his football team to Jamaica starting from next month, but only if Jamaica asks officially.
Jamaica wanted Greenwood to join their team instead of England, but he chose to stay with England. He made his first official appearance for England in 2020.
