  • I lost business deals because of how the media portray me – Shatta Wale

Shatta Wale has recently mentioned in an interview how he lost business deals because of how the media portray him.

The most decorated African Dancehall artist said he lost out on a lot of deals owing to the negative press that dominate his career and this is something he is not happy about.

“I’ve spoken to businesses that have said to me, ‘Oh, we wanted to sign you, but you had this issue and your media folks [said this and that],’ so they said we should forget it. large, big businesses,” he said on Class TV on the program Class Showbiz hosted by Sammy Flex.

He said one thing some of the propagandists fail to release is that in their pursuit to ruin him, they ultimately do is damage the reputations of all Ghanaian artists.

“I keep telling people that you don’t believe you’re harming me, but you’re hurting all of us. I put money on the table when I earn it, and we all benefit. Therefore, I believe that those things [unrestrained unfavourable criticism] must end,” he concluded.

  • Holmfield Hum – Mystery sound has been plaguing English Village for years

For several years now, residents of Holmfield, a village in Yorkshire, England, have been affected by a mysterious hum the source of which has yet to be discovered.

Not everyone can hear it, but those whose who do claim to have had their lives seriously impacted. The “Holmfield Hum”, as the mysterious low-frequency sound plaguing the English village of Holmfield has come to be known, has been making news headlines in the European country for at least a couple of years, but so far no one has been able to discover its source. Local authorities reportedly carried out an investigation and also hired an independent consultant to get to the bottom of the mystery, but their efforts have so far been in vain.

Holmfield residents who can hear the mysterious hum describe it as the whirring of a washing machine or an idling diesel engine. It doesn’t sound like the most annoying sound in the world, but it takes a toll on a person’s mental health and general well-being after a while. It interferes with their sleep and their mood, and some claim to be on the edge of a nervous breakdown because of it.

“I love my home but some days I absolutely detest being in it. It feels like there’s no happy space here anymore,” Holmfield resident Yvonne Conner recently told the BBC. “As much as I can hear it I can feel it on my eardrums. It resonates and feels like a pressure against them. That’s pretty much what it’s like all the time.”

“It leaves you feeling worn out because it’s worse on a night so trying to sleep is hard,” local woman Zoe Millar said. “We have considered moving but why should we when it’s something that’s not our fault?”

Conner, Millar and others who claim to hear the mysterious sound say they have been constantly tortured by it since 2019, but despite repeated pleas to the local council to identify the source of it, no one knows where it’s coming from. During its investigation, the council announced that it had identified three possible sources, but eventually, officers concluded they had not been able to find the cause.

“We have given our all to this investigation and left no stone unturned because we care about local people and understand the impact that the alleged noises have had on some residents,” Councillor Jenny Lynn told Yorkshire Live. “We have given our all to this investigation and left no stone unturned because we care about local people and understand the impact that the alleged noises have had on some residents.”

The failed investigation left many in Holmfield frustrated, as this essentially means going on living with the constant hum or moving away from their home to escape it. To many, either option is unacceptable but the reality is that this sort of low-frequency hums are notoriously difficult to trace, and the fact that not everyone can hear them only makes things harder.

Holmfield sits at the bottom of a valley and is surrounded by industrial units, which villagers have blamed for the noise in the past. Investigations into the mysterious phenomenon have found no evidence of that, though.

    <span data-mce-type=”bookmark” style=”display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;” class=”mce_SELRES_start”></span>

Acoustic expert Peter Rogers told the BBC that sound is a very complex topic and that in this case, the infamous hum could indeed be caused by some industrial activity that only some people can hear, or even something as mundane as water running through mains, a transformer or a telegraph pole.

“The problem is then trying to find where it’s coming from and it’s a bit like searching for that elusive needle in a haystack,” Rogers said. “If you imagine the soundscape people are living in, there’s all sorts of noises coming and going day and night so you’ve to effectively turn everything off to start the job of finding it.”

The Holmfield council says that’s not happening anytime soon, but residents like Yvonne Conner counter that they will not stop until the source of the torturous hum is identified.

  • Energy Minister launches NEDCo Special Revenue Protection Taskforce

Minister for Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has established the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) Special Revenue Protection Taskforce in Yendi of the Northern region.

The official launch took place on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Gbewa Palace.

The taskforce has been instituted to commence a rigorous revenue mobilization drive for NEDCo for its operational areas.

It is the mandate of NEDCo to procure and distribute electricity efficiently, safely, and reliably in the northern sector of Ghana in a commercially viable manner.

At the launch, Dr Opoku Prempreh entreated the members of the taskforce to approach their work with professionalism and not lord over residents with their new position.

“For those who are going to be on the task force, let me remind you it is a service you are providing. It is not making you a boss,” the minister said.

“Go with respect and humility but confrontation,” he added.

The members of the Special Revenue Protection Taskforce are Terence Ninnang, Ali Phillip, Hilda Alhassan, Abdul-Malik Hussein, Winfred Sewua, Ayishetu Ayamga, Elvis Demuyakor, John Yamoah, and Alexander Otu-Larbi.

Dr Opoku Prempeh announced that the King of Dagbon, Ndan Ya Na Abubakari II has been appointed as a member of the Special Revenue Protection Taskforce.

His role, he said, is to ensure the effective collection of revenue for the needed development in the energy sector in the region.

“I’m pleading with you, this taskforce cannot move without your blessing,” the minister admonished.

On his part, Ndan Ya Na Abubakari II, commended the government and the energy minister’s continuous commitment to providing affordable electricity for Ghanaians.

“It is breathtaking to see the determination of the government through your ministry to provide affordable electricity to Ghanaians in furtherance of the government’s pledge to the Ghanaian people. The good leadership you exhibit at your ministry has sown a seed of hope and expectations of the people in government.”

According to the King of Dagbon, the Dagbon Kingdom has experienced for the first time the building of eight solar power plants by Ghana’s Bui Power Authority in Yendi and other parts of the Northern regions during the tenure of Dr Opoku Prempeh.

“The building of the solar power plants will consolidate the development of renewable energy in Ghana. The location of the plants in the north including Yendi, Buipe, Sawla in the Savannah region, Zebilla, and Bolgatanga in the Upper East region is a blessing for the people of Dagbon and the north as a whole.”

Managing Director of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company, Osmani Aludiba Ayuba, however, bemoaned the surging rate of power theft adding that the sustainability of NEDCo is under threat.

“Our losses in the Northern area in general and Tamale, in particular, constitute an existential threat to NEDCo. Whereas the losses in the Northern area hover around 45%, the case in Tamale township is around 48%. The power theft situation in Tamale, if not addressed immediately, can cause the collapse of NEDCo in the very foreseeable future,” he predicted.

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh is optimistic that the taskforce will live up to expectation.

  • Hallelujah, the economy is getting back to normal! – Prince David Osei

Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei, has expressed excitement over the gradual appreciation of the Ghana cedi against the dollar.

As of Wednesday, December 14, 2022, the US dollar experienced a gradual drop in value, thereby, trading against the cedi at a buying price of GHC10.3948 and a selling price of GHC10.4052.

Prior to this, the dollar was selling at GHC14.00, weeks ago.

The development has seemingly shot up expectations from netizens who believe that it could be a sign of relief from the country’s current economic woes.

Prince David Osei who believes in the same assertion took to Twitter to share his excitement.

“Hallelujah the Cedi is appreciating remarkably. 9.56ghc to a 1$. The economy is gradually getting back on track!! Now we need to see the effect in our daily lives, goods and services.. God bless ????????.”

Earlier in October 2022, the actor in a bid to chastise the government for the country’s poor economic state took to social media to threaten a protest.

“The Youth of this nation are not smiling, it pours, but we are still sweating.. If things don’t change by December, we will mobilize the youth of this country and hit the street irrespective of party affiliations, whether NPP, NDC, CQQ, PNC whatever, doesn’t matter now, we are all in this together”.

In a long post on social media, Prince David Osei who campaigned for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the 2016 general elections said he had regretted his actions.

“I decided to give you and your government the benefit of the doubt, I reckon I was wrong!”

However, the actor has seemingly swallowed his words following the gradual rise of the cedi.

“No more demonstrations. remember I gave an ultimatum for December.”

  • Massive achievement for Black Sherif as ‘The Villain I Never Was’ features in Top American 50 best album

Black Sherif has hit yet another milestone that raises him higher and higher out of the orbit of his fellow Ghanaian stars as his album has been named one of the 50 best of the year.

‘The Villain I Never Was’ has been named by U.S music magazine The Fader as one of the 50 best albums of the year.

The album landed number 49 on the list – a massive achievement for the young Ghanaian star!

In the piece, “The 50 best albums of 2022”, The Fader writes of Black Sherif’s debut EP: “After the international success of “Kwaku The Traveller” and a string of unforgettable features, Konongo-born rapper Black Sherif was supposed to spend his summer playing at festivals across Europe.

“A creative spirit prevailed, though, and he was possessed by a desire to complete his debut album at home in Ghana. So, instead of euphoric performances throughout the world, he spent the rest of the year slinking across studios in Accra to finish his debut album, The Villain I Never Was.

“I left it all to finish this album because I wanted to give it my all,” he told THE FACE earlier this year. As achingly honest as it is insular, The Villain I Never Was is a coming-of-age epistle from the fast-rising rapper keen to make sense of — and do away with — the nihilistic public perception that his music has created.

“Oil In My Head” is accessorized with thumping basslines and skittering percussion, but its subtext is an urgent plea for peace of mind. On “Toxic Love City,” he sings that he fucked up by letting someone he loved realize their hold over him. These are the words of a 20-year-old navigating life, forming new memories, and exorcising his demons.”

The achievement brings a magnificent 2022 to a perfect end for Black Sherif.

If he continues on this trajectory, the young man is going to end up being compared to Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy very soon!

  • I have always believed it’s Mahama’s time – “Pablo” Opare Addo

National Youth Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare-Addo, has dismissed reports of him rallying behind Dr Kwabena Duffuor’s dream of becoming the next NDC flagbearer.

Speaking in an interview with Mugabe on Power FM, Mr Opare Addo categorically stated that such claims are false and deliberately fabricated to court the disaffection of other prospective candidates who will be contesting the NDC flag bearership position.

Clarifying matters, Pablo, as he is affectionately called, admitted having an affiliation with Dr Duffuor, however, he said he has always believed this is another opportunity for former President John Dramani Mahama to lead the country again on the ticket of the NDC.

“Is Dr Duffour a member of NDC or NPP? He was once the NDC Finance Minister. I have a fine relationship with the Duffuors; my family and their family have done business before. I know them..but when it comes to the flagbearership, I have said it over and over again that this time is for John Mahama. He is the one we are going with” he said.

Prior to the first phase of the NDC national delegates conference, there were reports suggesting that Mr Opare Addo, affectionately called Pablo, has been penciled to play a key role in a future campaign team of Dr Kwabena Duffuor for the flagbearership position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2024 elections.

He had also been accused of receiving funding from prominent members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) including the Ashanti Regional NPP chairman Benard Antwi Boasiako (a.k.a Chairman Wontumi), Gabby Otchere Asare-Darko, among others, a claim he has vehemently resisted.

Responding to the various allegations leveled against him prior to the first phase of the NDC national delegates conference he dismissed the reports, stressing that “I have nothing to do with any of them.”

Expressing further frustrations over the claims of his affiliation with Dr Duffour, Pablo noted that some members of the NDC who persistently attack the former Minister, go to him for money.

“Some of the people who insult the man secretly go to him for money. I will mention names today if you allow me. Sometimes I am in his house and they come there. Dr. Duffuor is a great man and a key NDC figure who was Finance Minister and Governor of the Bank of Ghana so there’s nothing wrong with him. But they insult him and go to him for money”, Opare Addo said.

“Doesn’t the party go to him for funding? I have gone to him for money in 2016 before to prosecute the campaign in Ashanti Region. So what is wrong if I am associated with him?” he questioned.

His comments follow the NDC national delegates conference which was held over the weekend.

Although Mr Opare Addo had emerged winner of the National Youth Organiser race, the election had been characterised by some tension believed to be between his faction and that of his contender, Mr Ernest Yaw Brogya Genfi.

Sixteen people were declared wanted subsequently.

Asked by Mugabe whether he intends to unite the party, particularly the youth wing, he responded in the affirmative, emphasising that he is ready to work and ensure that peace prevails among members of the party.

  • “Pablo” Opare Addo challenges Sammy Gyamfi, others on anti-NDC allegation

National Youth Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, has confronted some party members for describing him as a double agent for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Prior to the election of the National Youth Organiser held on December 10, the camp of Yaw Brogya Genfi being supported by Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s Communication Officer, is said to have leveled a number of allegations against his contender, Mr Opare Addo.

Some of the claims reportedly included Mr Opare Addo being affiliated with the NPP and also being inefficient as a National Youth Organiser.

In an interview on Power FM’s Inside Politics Show, Mr Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, stated that he has been discredited due to the false propaganda.

According to Pablo, he remains a staunch supporter of the NDC and has at no point in time shirked his responsibility since 2018.

In his submission, the National Youth Organiser singled out Mr Sammy Gyamfi as the orchestrator of the claims made against him.

“In 2016 in the Eastern Region, I financed more than half of the Parliamentary candidates. I gave each candidate fuel allocation of about GH4000. Were the NPP in power then?

“I donated my ex gratia to the party. When we started Reorganisation in 2017, I asked Kofi Potophe how much has been generated. He told me we have GH1000 per constituency to work with. I have GH1000 for each constituency.

“At that time, who in the NPP had money to give me some? It hurts me. When they speak, they provide no evidence. 80 percent of the people are destroying me, he (Sammy Gyamfi) is behind it. I have the evidence,” he bemoaned.

“They alleged that Chairman Wontumi sponsored my campaign,” he said, but swiftly dismissed such reports saying “I have never spoken with Chairman Wontumi. I know him but we have never spoken.”

Pained by the accusing fingers pointed at him, Mr Opare Addo has dared “anyone who has a single evidence that NPP has given me money to come out.”

He further described Mr Gyamfi as “an obstacle” and called him out to defend the building he has put up at Airport Hills since he is currently unemployed.

As to why he has mistakenly been affiliated with the ruling NPP, Mr Opare Addo explained that throughout his life, he has at one point or the other, lived with a member of the NPP.

He revealed that he attended Achimota Primary School with former NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye also known as Nana B.

Furthering his education at the tertiary level, he resided at Commonwealth Hall in the University of Ghana with Sammi Awuku, who is also a former National Organiser of the NPP.

“I am also an Akuapim. The environment I find myself in, there will be NPP guys around me. In Legon, Sammi Awuku was my roommate for two years,” he added.

Mr Opare Addo clarified why he never reacted to the claims until now. He noted that his focus was to win the elections and after achieving that goal, he has to clear the air.

At the end of the voting and counting of ballots at Cape Coast in the Central Region, Opare Addo polled 533 votes as against Brogya Genfi’s 508 votes.

Meanwhile, Mr Opare Addo has called on the rank and file of the party, as well as non-members of the NDC to support former President John Mahama, who will be running on the ticket of the NDC in the 2024 general elections.

“President John Mahama is the HOPE of Young People. We’ve a duty & a communal responsibility to knock every door and fight through to make him President again. Come on board. I am leading you to the battlefield. Bring your energy,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

  • NHIA to revoke licence of medical facilities charging unauthorized fees

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has warned medical facilities to desist from imposing illegal charges on beneficiaries of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Such facilities risk having their NHIS licence terminated as retribution.

According to Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, Bernard Okoe-Boye, the new directive will take place from January 2023.

“You might hear that some facilities either have been called to the authority to account for their behaviour or worst-case scenario, they might be de-credentialed meaning we will take away their status to see people with a health insurance card.

“I know some facilities will pray they don’t get there because I know that 80 percent of all Internally Generated Funds of all hospitals in Ghana come from National Health Insurance,” Dr Okoe-Boye said.

This comes in response to several complaints that some facilities charge NHIS clients an undue amount of money for the care of ailments listed under the program.

The NHIA, in May 2021, declared that it was on the lookout for authorized service providers who demanded additional payments.

In 2003, the Ghanaian government launched the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The program served as a national health insurance system designed to give Ghanaians fair access to and financial support for essential medical services.

Speaking to the media earlier this month, Mr Okoe Boye said the administration provides GH1.5 billion to healthcare providers annually.

“We are making sure our members are properly taken care of. We are ready to revoke the credentials of healthcare facilities who make extra monetary demands from our members with impunity,” he said.

As a corporate body, the Authority has the ability to enter into contracts, buy and hold real estate, and undertake other legal transactions in the course of carrying out its duties.

It was incorporated in accordance with the National Health Insurance Act 2003, Act 650.

The Authority’s goals include achieving National Health Insurance coverage for citizens and visitors who aren’t citizens of the nation but are still within, as well as giving those who are covered by the Scheme access to medical services.

  • Another founding member of the Osibisa band is dead

A world-class drummer and founding member of the Osibisa band, Solomon Amarki Amarfio has been reported dead.

The news broke out on social media on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.

Unclear what led to his death, news of the 84-year-old musician was shared on Twitter by a popular sports journalist, Yaw Ofosu.

“Sol Amarfio. Master drummer, songwriter, composer and a member of the legendary Osibisa band! Rest in peace,” the tweet wrote.

It can be recalled that in 2004, Kiki Gyan, a member of the Osibisa band who once held the title of the world’s greatest keyboard player died from a long battle with drug addiction, per reports.

A founding member, Mac Tonto also died in 2010 after battling an intense stroke, according to family reports at that time.

Osibisa is a Ghanaian Afro-Rock band, founded in London in 1969 by four expatriate African and three Caribbean musicians. Their music is a fusion of African, Caribbean, jazz, funk, rock, Latin, R&B, and highlife and it also played a central role in developing an awareness of African music among European and North American audiences in the 70s.

The Ghanaian founding members of Osibisa; Teddy Osei, Sol Amarfio (drums), and Mac Tontoh, Teddy’s brother, were seasoned members of the Accra highlife scene before they moved to London to launch their attack on the world stage.

Osibisa was the most successful and longest-lived of the African-heritage bands in London, alongside such contemporaries as Assagai, Chris McGregor’s Brotherhood of Breath, Demon Fuzz, and Noir, and were largely responsible for the establishment of world music as a marketable genre.

  • Ghana ranked 4th in Africa Visa Openness Index

Ghana has secured the fourth position amongst African countries that are open to citizens from other parts of the continent, according to the Africa Visa Openness Report 2022.

The Africa Visa Openness Index (AVOI) assesses how accommodating African countries are to visitors from other African countries. AVOI examines changes in country scores over time to demonstrate how national policies on freedom of movement vary across Africa.

Data for this year’s edition was collected in July and August, and the main sources of information were the International Air Transport Association and official websites from the countries in question.

Ghana, in its ranking, trails behind Benin, Seychelles, and The Gambia, in ascending order.

The four can be classified under the visa-open country, which has a liberal or relaxed visa policy for visitors, meaning that visitors either do not need a visa to enter its territory or can obtain a visa upon arrival.

The aforementioned are amongst 48 African countries that offer visa-free travel to nationals of at least one other African country, at least 5 other African countries or all African countries.

On the contrary, Ghana offers visa-free travel, visa on arrival which is based on certain conditions and requires a visa before departure.

Per the report, 29 countries now offer a visa on arrival in the nationals of at least one other African country, 24 countries offer a visa on arrival in the nationals of 5 or more countries and 14 countries offer a visa on arrival to 35 or more African countries.

Egypt, South Sudan, Eritrea, Sudan, Equatorial Guinea and Libya are amongst countries that require visitors to obtain a visa before they travel. Visitors might obtain the visa from an embassy, a consulate, or another source.

The first Africa Visa Openness Index was first published in 2016.

Analysing how countries’ policies are evolving as regards the freedom of movement across Africa, the index noted that Africans travel more easily within Africa today than they did in 2016.

“For 27% of all intra-Africa travel, citizens of African countries can now travel visa-free (up from 20% in 2016), while in a further 27% of travel scenarios, a visa can be obtained on arrival (up from 25% in 2016). The number of intra-Africa travel that still requires a visa ahead of departure was 47% of the total in 2022, a marked improvement from 55% in 2016.”

The growth is in spite of the stiff freedom to travel during the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Index emphasized that making it possible for more people to travel visa-free, with an e-visa, or with a visa on arrival, would make the continent significantly more open.

  • $3bn to hit Ghana’s account after approval of Staff-Level Agreement by IMF Executive Board – Stéphane Roudet

Ghana will not be able to currently access the $3billion in its new three-year arrangement under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) despite reaching a Staff-Level Agreement.

IMF’s Mission for Ghana, Stéphane Roudet, has explained that the money can only be released to the government of Ghana after the Staff-Level Agreement has been presented to the Fund’s Management and Executive Board.

Subsequently, the Executive Board would have to approve the Staff-Level Agreement before funds are disbursed.

Providing clarity to the current status of engagements between Ghana and the Fund on Tuesday, December 13, Mr Roudet mentioned that government must first prove that “the programme is fully financed” and the “fiscal consolidation path, comprehensive debt restructuring that the authorities have launched will be sufficient to re-establish debt sustainability”  before the Staff-Level Agreement can be presented.

Ghana has launched a Domestic Debt Exchange to help tackle its debt. Some interests on investments; bonds, particularly for 2023 have been scrapped under the debt exchange programme.

Mr Stéphane Roudet on Monday, December 12, announced that Ghana and the IMF have reached a Staff-Level Agreement on economic policies and reforms.

The economic recovery programme, among others, aims at restoring macroeconomic stability and debt sustainability while protecting the vulnerable, preserving financial stability, and laying the foundation for strong and inclusive recovery.

This comes after a six-month engagement between the Fund and government.

Ghana officially reached out to the Fund in July this year after realizing its economy is in a deplorable state due to extensive borrowing, Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war.

IMF staff held meetings with Vice President Bawumia, Finance Minister Ofori-Atta, and Bank of Ghana Governor Addison, and their teams, as well as representatives from various government agencies.

The IMF team led by Stéphane Roudet, which arrived in Accra on December 1, ended their negotiations with the government on December 13.

  • I haven’t endorsed any candidate in NDC national executives election – Mahama

The Office of Former President John Mahama has disassociated the former statesman from any of the candidates contesting in the National Democratic Congress’ national executives election.

In a press statement dated December 13, the Office noted its attention has been drawn to publications where candidates associate his name with their campaign.

“The Office of HE Dramani Mahama condemns a publication in a tabloid newspaper that the family of the former President is in support of one of the aspirants for the National Chairman of the NDC,” a portion of the circular read.

According to the Office, John Mahama “has no preference and has not endorsed any candidate.”

An aide to the former president, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, revealed that Mr Mahama will work with whoever emerges victorious, just like any supporter of the opposition party.

This is because “of paramount interest to President Mahama is victory for the NDC in 2024 to work with expectant and suffering Ghanaians to ‘Build the Ghana We Want.”

Following the clarification, the Office of the Former President has advised the rank and file of the party to disregard such false publications.

On December 10, NDC delegates retained George Opare Addo and Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw and George Opare Addo as the National Youth Organiser and National Women’s Organiser respectively.

George Opare Addo, who is also known as Pablo, polled 533 votes to triumph over his fiercest contender Brogya Genfi who polled 508 votes.

On the other hand, Dr. Bissiw polled 433 votes to beat her closest contender, Margaret Ansei who obtained 362 votes of the total valid ballot cast.

The opposition party will on December 17 decide who occupies the chairmanship, Vice Chairman, General Secretary, Deputy General Secretary and National Communications Officer positions.

The chairmanship position, the highlight of the elections, is keenly contested by the incumbent, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo; the current General Secretary, Johnson Aseidu Nketia; party stalwart, Nii Armah Ashietey and Samuel Yaw Adusei.

  • We noticed Wizkid was dull during rehearsals – Organizers

Organizers of the famous ‘Wizkid Live’ concert have provided further clarification on what ensued behind closed doors following the Nigerian singer’s failure to perform at the event.

The concert was expected to go down in history as one of the ‘lit’ events in Accra this year but things went sour for fans and patrons who thronged the Accra Stadium to party hard with Wizkid at the much-anticipated concert last Saturday, as he failed to perform.

In a statement to clear the doubts and thoughts of patrons who have been disappointed by the development, the event company shared their side of the story and how they did everything humanly possible to cushion Wizkid but to no avail.

In a series of concerns spotted in their statement, Live Hub Entertainment, the organizers of the concert said,

“We spoke with Jada throughout, and nothing was indicated, Wizkid was there for sound check although we noticed he was dull during the rehearsals. We never anticipated this to happen.”

They however shot down claims that the Nigerian singer was not assigned adequate security.

“Wizkid and his team were given an additional 15 bodyguards and security personnel, for their personal assured safety. 4 were attached to Wizkid specifically and the 11 were assigned to his team,” parts of their statement read.

Touching on claims that Wizkid failed to perform because the concert wasn’t ‘sold out’, they added.

“We heard that it was because of numbers but there was nowhere in the contract he signed that he would only perform when the stadium was full. We had about 15,000 attend the event.”

  • Traders reduce prices of goods on the market

Some traders at Ghana’s central Business District in Accra, Opera Square, have begun reducing the prices of goods and services as of December 13, 2022, owing to the appreciation of the Ghana cedi.

The price reduction comes after the Ghana union of Traders (GUTA) in a press statement signed by its President, Dr Joseph Obeng, beseeched traders to adjust their prices to ease the economic burden on Ghanaians especially ahead of the Christmas festive.

Dr Joseph Obeng noted, “ when the Cedi has depreciated against some major currencies which led to an increase in the prices of goods and services, and it is incumbent on us that once there has been a little bit stability of the Cedi, we should appeal to our members so that they can also as much as possible adjust their prices so that the consuming public can be cushioned in the Christmas season.”

Reacting to the call, traders at Opera Square, interacting with an Accra based media house, Joynews, described GUTA’s plea as apt.

They explained that the price of their goods is determined by the dollar rate, hence a stabilised currency should automatically reflect their pricing rate.

As such, the traders revealed that their goods have seen a drastic reduction of about 35% since the local currency appreciated in value.

“Things we were selling at GH¢350 are now going for GH¢280,” a trader disclosed.

     Ghana Cedi

Currently, the local currency is being sold at GH¢12.10 to the US dollar at some forex bureaus

The currency has also improved in value against other significant international currencies like the pound and the euro.

The Euro and the Pound are trading at GH¢11.10 and GH¢12.70 respectively.

With the week-on-week appreciation, Bloomberg has named the Ghana cedi as the best-performing currency against the U.S. dollar.

  • Wizkid to be dragged to court over no show at Accra Sports Stadium saga

Live Hub Entertainment, the organizers of the Wizkid Live Concert, intends to take legal action against Nigerian singer, Wizkid, following his failure to perform at the Accra Sports Stadium concert.

In an interview with TV3, the management of the event company said it intends to seek a refund for payments made to the musician following his refusal to fulfil his side of the bargain.

“We are considering going to court for a refund. We did what we could on our part to make sure he was okay,” management stated in an interview with TV3.

Social media, particularly Twitter, witnessed the disappointment, anger, and frustration of the thousands of patrons who thronged the venue or monitored the event online.

The unfortunate turnout of events compelled netizens to think of possible reasons why Wizkid, the headliner of the concert, could abandon his fans at the stadium for several hours.

Some netizens identified that perhaps Wizkid was not paid in full, hence his decision to not show up on stage.

But the organizers disclosed that Wizkid was offered full payment in advance of the concert date.

“We paid him in full, paid for his stay at Kempinski Hotel, paid for his private jet among others,” management stated in an interview with TV3.

In a statement it issued, organizers affirmed that “Wizkid was paid in advance for his concert date. All of his expenses including his private jet flights, hotel presidential suite, security, vehicles, additional offsite accommodation.”

  • Fishermen accused of demanding sex before selling fish to fishmongers

President of the National Fish Processors and Traders Association (NAFPTA), Regina Solomon, has expressed concern over a disturbing trend in fishing communities across the country.

According to her, incidents of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment are gaining grounds in these areas.

Her utmost concern was with how transactional sex has become rampant in fishing communities.

Transactional sex involves the exchange of sex for gifts or favours, which is, in this case, the exchange of sex for fish.

Highlighting the challenges of women and young girls in fishing communities as part of activities to mark 16 days of activism in Keta, she bemoaned the situation and said young girls are exchanging sex for fishes.

“Before a girl gets fish to sell at any canoe, unless ‘she changes meat with fish.’ You either have to be the [fisherman’s] girlfriend or have an amorous relationship with the fisherman, otherwise you will not get fish to buy from any canoe,” she said.

“It’s going on everywhere and this makes the small girls marry the older people having the canoe because she wants fish.”

Madam Solomon expressed her annoyance further by stating that these relationships frequently result in unwanted pregnancies and bemoaned the fact that young girls who experience this are frequently abandoned by the men who impregnate them.

“They [the men] won’t care for you [the young girls]. The fish they gave you is what they expect you to use to cater for the child,” she said.

Her other concern was with parents of young girls marrying off their children to fishermen in exchange for fishes.

“Also, when the fishmongers get old, they give their children, about 15 years old, to the owners of the canoes or fishermen because they want fish,” she added.

Based on these, she concluded that GBV is getting out of hand in fishing communities and must be stopped.

The Director of Economic Growth Office of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), was also at the event and highlighted the role of stakeholders in ending GBV.

“I urge you all to do justice, unite, fake action, be an advocate, a helper, and a voice against abuse. Today let’s celebrate, speak and build awareness,” he said.

On his part, the Keta MCE appealed to the USAID to support education, health, Agric, Women Empowerment, and Water transport projects, to enhance the livelihoods of fisherfolks to curb Gender Based Violence (GBV).

“It is our expectation that when there is a great component in the areas listed above, families will be able to enjoy better standards of living and the issue of great GBV will be minimised,” he said.

  • Alban Bagbin is becoming a tyrant – Muntaka Mubarak

Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak, has accused the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, of exhibiting some tendencies of a tyrant.

Speaking in an interview, Mr Muntaka, said the Speaker has little tolerance for disagreements in the House.

“The Speaker is becoming a tyrant,” the Asawase MP stressed. Bemoaning the situation, Mr Mubarak indicated that the Speaker is running Parliament like a Palace, which, according to him, does not augur well for Ghana’s democracy.

“I am sorry to say this, when you want to turn the Chamber of Parliament into a palace, then you become a tyrant. You are not a chief, you are supposed to be a Speaker of Parliament and a Speaker listens to both sides patiently even where there is a disagreement and that is the essence of democracy to sometimes even agree to disagree but where you personalised it as if a disagreement is a disrespect to you .. then I am sorry you are becoming a bad Speaker,” he added.

He made the comments on the back of Mr Ofori-Atta’s censure motion, which failed after the Majority in Parliament (who initially declared their support for the Finance Minister to be removed from office) staged a walkout.

Commenting on the Censure motion, Mr Muntaka who from the onset had indicated that the Ad-hoc committee established by the Speaker to look into the allegations leveled against Mr Ofori-Atta was needless, rehashed his earlier concerns.

Buttressing his claim, he said the Speaker abused Parliament’s Standing Orders in setting up the controversial Ad-hoc committee that gave the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta a public hearing.

“That committee [Ad-hoc committee] was not necessary, our Standing Orders are very clear. The Speaker has no discretion and authority to do any other thing contrary to what is stated in the Standing Orders, and I continue to maintain that,” he said.

The vote of censure motion filed by the members of the minority side in Parliament against the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, failed on December 8.

Mr Ofori-Atta’s mandate as the Finance Minister would have been revoked if the motion was successful, however, the votes in favour of the motion were less than the two-thirds of the House (183 votes) needed for it to be passed due to the absence of the Majority MPs.

While the NDC was optimistic that this move against the Finance Minister would have saved the dwindling economy, some Ghanaians believe otherwise.

According to the Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbar, the move was needless. He said it was obvious the motion was going to fail after President Akufo-Addo held a meeting with the Majority MPs who had called for Mr Ofori-Atta’s resignation over the economic crisis. Therefore, there was no need for the Minority to continue with the move.

“It [Censure motion] is a needless political exercise they subjected all of us to…The engagement is a needless exercise bearing Article 82 (1) in mind, because the Majority had given a press conference which the President and party elders called them to a discussion, and they have agreed,” he explained.

  • NDC Internal Wrangling : Pray for NDC – Presidential staffer

Samuel Bryan Buabeng, a presidential staffer has called for prayers to help save the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from destruction.

He holds that with current ongoings in the party relative to public disagreements between top members, the party could cease to exist by 2024 by the time the next General Elections are held.

“Pray for the NDC,” he tweeted on December 13, adding: “If care is NOT taken, they will kill themselves and destroy the party before 2024.”

The main opposition party has been hit by disagreements from the just ended National Youth Organizer election that produced Geroge Opare Addo as winner over Brogya Genfi.

Opare Addo, alias Pablo, since his victory has gone on a tirade against the NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi and Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George.

The two top part members supported Brogya Genfi against Pablo.

Genfi has protested the outcome of the vote and the process used.

There is also a continuing media war between current General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and Chairman Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

The two are the frontrunners in the upcoming National Executives election slated for December 17 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

  • 2023 budget: Parliament blocks approval of GH¢80 million for National Cathedral

The GH$80 million budgeted for the National Cathedral’s construction has been put on hold by the Trades and Industry Committee of Parliament.

The allocation was the first time money had been specifically set aside for the project; prior payments had been made from the contingency fund.

Ken Ofori-Atta, the minister of finance, claims that more than GH330 million have already been spent from the fund.

The 2023 allocation was made in respect of the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), but the Committee’s said the previous disbursements will need to be justified along with the new allocation for the budgeted sum to be approved.

Tamale Central Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed who disclosed the development to Accra-based JoyNews on December 13, said the suspension will be in place till justification for the allocation is made.

“What the Committee decided was that we cannot just approve this GH¢80 million, we must know how the other GH¢339 million was spent. What did it constitute?

“The GH¢80 million you want us to approve, how did it find space in the budget line of the Ministry of Tourism when the Minister and the directors could not speak to the questions we were asking? What constitutes the GH¢80 million, they should give us a breakdown,” he stressed.

The cathedral project and Akufo-Addo’s luxury jet travels have become topical in recent months with the minority in Parliament pushing for disclosures on how much the state is spending on both.

Whiles efforts to get official records of the cost of the presidential jet travels have serially failed even through Parliament, the issue of the National Cathedral recently got concrete answers, especially from the Minister of Finance.

Ken Ofori-Atta disclosed while appearing before an ad hoc committee of Parliament that monies paid in lieu of the project were drawn from the Contingency Fund.

For the first time, government also included an expenditure item relating to the project in the 2023 budget with an amount of GH¢80 million cedis earmarked for disbursement.

We have also seen on social media so many Presidents of other African countries congratulating His Majesty and all the Moroccan people for this victory and we are very proud of that. • GFA instructs its lawyers to sue individuals, various institutions for defamation

Following the exit of the senior national team, the Black Stars from the on-going FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022, the Ghana Football Association issued a statement dated December 2, 2022 (same day of the third match).

We apologised to the general public and all stakeholders and also indicated that we will continue with the positive lessons going into the future.

The GFA has since kept an open mind and continue to listen and receive comments, suggestions, and ideas from well-meaning Ghanaians both home and abroad for the improvement of the team.

Unfortunately, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has noticed that a few persons are deliberately maligning and defaming the GFA and the Black Stars brand in an attempt to manufacture a non-existent scandal about the team.

While the Association will continue to encourage feedback and opinions (devoid of insults, personal attacks, and brand devaluation), the protection of the brands from deliberate lies, misinformation and defamatory comments must be curbed, as the Black Stars remains a global brand that unites all Ghanaians.

The Ghana Football Association has therefore instructed its lawyers to institute legal action against persons who defame the Association, its officials, products and destroy the Black Stars brand as well as the media platforms used to do same.

The legal forum will provide the opportunity for these persons to bring any evidence to substantiate their allegations.

The Association will continue to encourage opinions and comments being expressed aimed at improving the team and the brand.

Once again, the Association wishes to express its profound gratitude to all persons and stakeholders for their positive suggestions and ideas towards the improvement of the team and the Football Association.

  • Sale of aphrodisiac, body enlargers on the rise in Bolgatanga Market

Sales of sex enhancing and body enlargement products in the Bolgatanga market is on rise despite warnings and confiscation of the products from such traders by the Food and Drugs Authority.

The different products which target both genders and aim to boost sexual drive of men, women and increase the size of the male organ and bodies of women, particularly their buttocks according to the dealers were cashing in sales.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the market where the products were displayed revealed that prices of some of the aphrodisiacs ranged between GH₵50 to GH₵100.

Some have inscriptions as “Tundra Butt Sirop,’ “Anita Syrup,” “Suprem Maca Syrup,” “Ultimate Maca syrup,” “Yodi” “Sirop Dynewell” among others on them.

One of the dealers, a woman believed to be in her early 50s, and preferred to be called Adurowura, told the GNA that, business was booming, and the demand was high among the youth.

“The young women in particular want to entice their male partners with their curvy shapes,” she stressed.

According to her, each of the products worked according to what was inscribed on the package and users recommend it to their friends after seeing positive changes in their bodies and told the GNA that, at her age, she did not need such body enlarging product for use because her system will not respond to its use.

Mrs Afia Nyantakyi, another seller of the product told the GNA that she was neither aware of the main source of the medicine nor the consequences it may pose.

“What I know is that, it can enlarge your buttocks to give you a sexy or curvy shape but as to what the consequences are when using it, I cannot best tell because, no customer has ever reported to me of any complications,” she said. “I also buy them from someone, and I am not aware of where exactly they bring them from.” she stated.

Mr Sebastian Mawuli Hotor, Upper East Regional Director of Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), debunked the claims by the sellers of the body enlargement medicines and explained that such medicines had not been licensed because there was no scientific proof to the effect that it could provide such services.

According to him, the sellers lure their unsuspected customers with such claims.

He explained the Authority had on several occasions confiscated such medicines from the sellers.

He warned them to desist from the illegal trade of the medicine which had dire consequences on the users.

He said his outfit was committed to prosecuting sellers of such products to deter others and advised the public to be wary of such.

  • EOCO retrieves 37 stolen luxury vehicles imported from US and Canada

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has retrieved thirty-seven vehicles suspected to have been stolen from the United States of America (USA) and Canada.

The exercise which was carried out in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), was based on an intelligence-led operation.

In a press statement, EOCO said these vehicles were retrieved from some garages in Ghana, on December 9, 2022 and the suspects have since been questioned and granted bail.

“The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), carried out an intelligence-led operation for the retrieval of various specifications of luxury vehicles suspected to have been stolen from the United States of America (USA) and Canada.

“On Friday December 9, 2022, thirty-seven (37) of such vehicles were retrieved from some garages in Accra during which ten (10) persons were arrested. The suspects have since been questioned and granted enquiry bail,” the statement further added.

EOCO’s statement comes following allegations by some importers of used vehicles that the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) and National Security unlawfully raided their garages and seized their cars.

The importers claimed that over three hundred vehicles belonging to their members were taken from them to an unknown location by EOCO.

The union had given a three-day ultimatum for government to put on hold the exercise or risk forceful retrieval of their cars even if they are auctioned.

“Even if it has been alleged that the cars have been stolen, to us we know we are not selling such cars. The cars that we are selling were completely bought. We ship them from America and Canada. We clear them here in Ghana, we have all the necessary documents to support whatever we are saying.

“We are only sending a signal to government that what they are doing does not help us as business people,” General Secretary of the Union, Clifford Ansu said, as quoted by myjoyonline.com

  • Don’t borrow to fund your wedding – Counselor urges

Renowned Counsellor, Kwaku Adumatta, has advised couples looking forward to get married not to borrow to fund their wedding.

According to him, marriage itself is a lot of work and adding the burden of paying a debt to it will only make matters worse for the couple.

In an interview with Kwabena Boafo, on Happy 98.9FM’s ‘Nsem Pii’ show, Kwaku Adumatta said “It’s not the best way to start your lives. When will you repay the debts to go on with your lives and develop yourselves. What if children come in the picture too. The bills will keep increasing so it doesn’t make sense to start a life with debts. The marriage won’t last if it is built with debts.”

He stated that unfortunately, a lot of youth are making that mistake. “They want to please people and society so they do anything including taking loans to make this possible.

What they have to understand is that marriage is not a competition. It seems so now and they keep raising the expectation of others when it shouldn’t be the case,” he stated.

He noted that couples need to work within their own terrain because marriage is work and demands a lot.

“It’s not the wedding that matters. The real marriage comes after the wedding and people need to know this and prepare for it. If you start your lives with debts, it brings a lot of discomfort and unhappiness into the marriage and people need to refrain from it,” he advised.

  • ‘Already’: The Beyonce collabo was a divine blessing to sanitise my tainted name – Shatta Wale

Dancehall artist, Shatta Wale, has stated that some utterances by entertainment pundits impede the progress of artistes “a lot.”

The 38-year-old singer and record producer also shared that he sees Beyonce’s collaboration with him as a divine intervention to sanitise his brand and name which have suffered at the hands of pundits and public criticism.

The Reggae/Dancehall superstar said this reacting to Koskolee, a pundit on CTV’s Class Showbiz hosted by Sammy Flex, wondering if that was the case, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.

“I’ve met companies that have told me, ‘Oh we wanted to sign you but you had this problem and your media people [said this and that] so they said we should forget it’,” he illustrated. “Big, big companies.”

The Ghanaian artiste born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr asserted that when pundits speak ill of him, they may intend to hurt his brand in particular but actually they are tampering with the brands of Ghanaian artistes in general.

“I keep telling people that don’t think you’re hurting me but you are hurting all of us,” he said.

“When I make money, I bring it on the table and we all enjoy. So I think those things [uncontrolled negative criticism] have to stop,” the ‘On God’ hitmaker added.

He bemoaned how an internet user opined that his Shaxi online taxi initiative would not last beyond a week. “Don’t speak like this,” Shatta showed signs of frustration. “This is somebody’s business. If you don’t have anything [productive] to say, just keep quiet.”

The Shatta Movement (SM) leader also expressed worry concerning how the above and other unhinged utterances, especially on the internet, could hamper his being signed to an international label.

“I keep saying, God bless Beyonce everytime because for Beyonce’s team to sit down with her and say they want to work with me, it wasn’t just a mere and meaningless happening. God’s intervention came there. I think maybe God spoke to her that, ‘Come and help my son because [contrary to] the way they are seeing him, I want you to [paint] a beautiful picture [about] him.”

Beyonce, in an unpredictable move, featured Shatta Wale on her ‘Already’ Afrobeats record as part of her 2019 Grammy-recognised ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ album.

The self-acclaimed African Dancehall King also addressed why he is abrasive sometimes in reaction to criticism.

“People should just get it, the way they speak about us – like me I’m so real that [naturally] when you speak about me in a certain way, I’ll come and speak in a certain way but I’ve grown,” he stated.

Despite his growth and exercise of patience and restraint, however, he said it should come as no surprise when he responds in equal measure when someone delibrately and persistently steps on his toes.

“If you don’t stop [stepping one the toes], I will slap you hard,” he said matter-of-factly and quickly added that: “I’m trying to be humble. I’m trying to be respectful.”

To the musician, “the 10-year interval” between being Bandana and resurfacing successfully as Shatta Wale is proof of his patience.

“So when you are stepping on my toe – I’m like that [patient for a while],” he said and demonstrated in his unruly but witty demeanour that after several unheeded warnings, he strikes: “You’ll take a hot slap.”

Calming down, he reflected: “But I’ve grown to understand that all those people [naysayers] were distracting me from getting what I have to get.”

Since he came to that realisation, he has not engaged in any industry talk for about two months and his social media engagements are proof, he argued.

“When I check my worth and the people talking about me, [I notice that] no, they are going to drag me back,” he said and reasoned: “Those people have not made what I’ve made and I want to make more so why don’t I go and make it and come and show them?” when they are 90-years-old and unaccomplished because they were fighting what they did not understand.

The focus of the father of one, Majesty, is to increase his acquisitions and achievements “even though I’ve been able to acquire a few things from my career, in terms of where I have to put my head, at least I can move around small in a car and stuff like that, like invested a few.”

“It’s very painful when a somebody talks about you and a company says they can’t sign you,” he stressed.

So, we are preparing the dockets. Our mission is to prosecute and possibly recover”, the deputy A-G earlier told Accra-based Citi News.

Meanwhile, an Accra High Court has accepted the GH¢90 million repayment terms for a restitution deal between state prosecutors and William Ato Essien, who is the founder of the defunct Capital Bank.

  • Young Thug faces new charges for alleged street racing and reckless driving

Young Thug has been hit with new charges as he awaits trial in the upcoming YSL RICO case.

WSB-TV reports the Atlanta District Attorney’s office has charged Thug with street racing, reckless driving and speeding. The charges, which are all misdemeanors, stem from an incident in early May in which the Atlanta rapper was allegedly driving his vehicle at 120 mph on Interstate 85. He has been behind bars since May 9.

Brian Steel, an attorney for Young Thug, said his client is innocent of the charges. “As of two weeks ago, that case was being resolved with a seatbelt violation,” Steel said in a statement. “Today, now it’s indicted in the Fulton County Superior Court. He is being wronged by our system.”

The YSL RICO trial—which involves Young Thug and Gunna, who were indicted on racketeering charges back in May—is scheduled to begin on Jan. 5, 2023.

A judge previously denied Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ request to delay the trial until March 2023, arguing that a postponement would “protect the rights” of the 28 defendants associated with the 56-count indictment since all of them “need to be tried together.”

Thug, 31, has been charged with conspiracy to violate the RICO Act and participation in criminal street gang activity, while 29-year-old Gunna—who was detained two days after Thug—faces a charge of conspiring to violate RICO.

“He’s committed no crime,” Steel told WSB-TV of Thugger in a recent statement. “And Mr. Williams will do whatever he has to do and has done a great deal to try to have non-violence in our community. Mr. Williams is not the head of any criminal street gang, he’s not involved in any type of criminal activity that involves any type of violence.”

  • Kehlani Speaks out after being sexually assaulted at concert

Kehlani opened up about being sexually assaulted following a recent performance in the UK.

Fresh off finishing the European leg of their Blue Water Road Trip Tour, Kehlani took to social media on Monday night to speak out after they were assaulted. In a since-deleted post on IG Stories, the singer—who uses she/they pronouns—revealed they were inappropriately touched while being escorted through the crowd following their concert at O2 Victoria Warehouse.

“I’ve made video after video after video and deleted it because I don’t want any video of me as angry, triggered, crying upset as I am anywhere,” Kehlani wrote in the now-deleted post. “I don’t care how sexual you deem my music, my performances, my fun with my friends dancing at clubs, or ME.”

They continued, “That does not give   any of you the right to cross a boundary like sticking your hands up my skirt & pulling my underwear to TOUCH MY GENITALS as I am being escorted through a crowd after performing. This shit made me sick to my stomach. As a victim of sexual assault, I am endlessly triggered and mindblown.”

Kehlani previously discussed their experience as a victim of sexual assault on a 2019 episode of their Sunday Gems podcast.

“I don’t want to add more hurt, I don’t want to add more pain,” the artist said at the time. “All I want to say is, ‘Sending love to everybody who’s on a healing path right now, and sending love to everybody who needs it. And if you’re apologizing for abuse, you’re disgusting. Suck my dick.’”

“I just don’t feel good. I can’t believe I have to come up here and do this,” Megan told the court, as reported by TMZ.

According to Megan, a former friend of hers, Kelsey Nicole, and Tory started fighting while in the car, at which point Megan left the vehicle to remove herself from the situation.

From there, Lanez allegedly pointed a gun at Megan, telling her to “dance bitch,” before firing five shots at the Houston rapper. Megan was wounded in both of her feet.

As Megan was in in shock following the shooting, she reiterated during her testimony that Tory allegedly told her, “Don’t say anything and I’ll give you a million dollars.”

Megan previously made the claim that Lanez offered her $1 million for her silence during an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings.

“I’m in shock. I’m scared. I hear the gun going off, and I can’t believe he’s shooting at me,” Megan said Tuesday while in court.

Asked why she didn’t initially report the shooting to police, Megan said, “At the time, we are at the height of police brutality … I felt like if I said this man has just shot me, they might shoot first and ask questions later. I don’t feel safe in the car. I don’t feel safe with the police officers either.”

She added, “In the Black community, it’s not really acceptable to be cooperating with police officers.”

Subsequent texts from Tory to Megan were read in court on Tuesday, which featured Lanez apologizing to Megan, saying he “genuinely just got too drunk” but “can’t change what I did.”

Later in her testimony, Megan criticized the hip-hop industry for being being run by males. “This whole situation in the industry is like a big boys club,” she testified. “Like I’m telling on one of y’all friends, now you’re all about to hate me.”

If convicted, Lanez faces more than 22 years in prison.

  • World Cup 2022:Julian Alvarez’s brilliance sinks Croatia with Lionel Messi’s help

Argentina defeated Croatia 3-0 to get to the World Cup final, thanks to Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez’s lethal combination.

In the 34th minute, Messi capitalized on a penalty called against Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovi, thumping a penalty shot into the back of the net and enabling Argentina to grab an early 1-0 lead.

Julian Alvarez, 22, scored five minutes later following a mistake by Croatian defender Borna Sosa, increasing the score to 2-0.

Messi pushed the ball downfield 15 minutes into the second half, finding Alvarez on a cross for Manchester City striker’s second goal of the game.

Interestingly Lionel Messi scored his first of 95 goals for the Argentina men’s national team in a non-competitive (friendly) match against Croatia in 2006 when Modric made his debut for the Croatian men’s team.

Argentina will now wait to play the winner of Morocco vs France. The big game between the North African side and France will take place tomorrow.

The Moroccans are focused on their attempt to win the 2022 World Cup according to coach Walid Regragui.

Nayef Akrad, and Naseer Mazraoui, are ready to play for Morocco against France.

Mazraoui and Akrad were absent from the Atlas Lions’ 1-0 quarter-final victory over Portugal. Captain Romain Saiss won’t be available against France because of injury.

“They don’t allow the fans to take photos with me and they don’t allow me to pose for photos here at the railing,” the German-born Croatian told German newspaper Bild in 1992, referring to stadium security.

“I asked them why they were so rude,” he added. The woman herself explained that so far she had not had any problem in the World Cup .

“It’s really great. No one has ever told me to cover myself. Everyone wants photos with me, even the locals. Only on Twitter was there a negative reaction from a Qatari. But he probably just wanted attention, ”he explained to the same medium.

In addition, he advanced his plans for the rest of the World Cup : “In fact, I wanted to leave when the Croats were eliminated. But now I definitely stay until the final, no matter who plays there.”

In his last Instagram post, he asked himself: “To find out how many goals will Argentina score tomorrow?”, and added an emoji of an ear, as well as an account where you can bet with the result.

The situation in the World Cup

In Qatar, more than a million visitors came from all corners of the world warned about Muslim culture and various rules to follow: among them, the clothing to wear in stadiums. Knöll went viral for the way he dressed in the matches that his team, Croatia, played in the group stage and in the following matches of the World Cup. Tight red pants, and a bodice with the red and white squares of her country’s flag.

What’s more, the image of her going down the stairs in the match in which Luka Modric’s team eliminated Belgium at the Ahmed bin Ali stadium was questioned for “double standards” in a country with strict rules for women. In that postcard, smiling Arabs were seen in the audience with cell phones in hand, taking photos of him. After it went viral on networks, she herself shared it on her Instagram.

Although the regulations are inflexible with the local ones, neither the authorities nor the Qatari residents make the visitors, including the Argentines, feel any rigor in terms of different ways of dressing or walking down the street. You can see women wearing the same clothes as in any corner of the Western world. However, Knoll was ejected from the stadium against Brazil , as seen on video.

In the preview of the decisive clash for the round of 16 between Japan and Croatia, La Nación met Knöll. His outfit for the meeting: mini jean skirt, long stockings, belt, bow and top in Croatian colors. Although many media presented her as a businesswoman from that Eastern European country, she clarified that she is only “an influencer who came to have fun in Qatar.”

Asked in that match against Belgium, at gate 5 of the Al Janoub stadium, about whether she had any warnings about her clothes in the stadiums, she was blunt: “Nobody said anything to me about my clothes. I never had a problem with the way I dress in Qatar ”. The influencer is already a celebrity. Before entering the VIP section of the stadium, she stopped at every step to take selfies with fans, sign autographs and pose for photographers.

Supposedly, the model had declared to the German media that if Croatia won the World Cup , she would strip naked. However, Ivana herself was in charge of denying that promise on her Instagram account.

“Fake news! Media lies. I will not take off my shirt if Croatia wins the championship, ”he responded bluntly, with which the information spread in recent days remained a rumor. Driven by the diffusion that she had during the World Cup , Knoll already has more than 2 million followers on Instagram, the social network where she has shown the most in the World Cup.
