Expelled Gaza labourers accuses Israeli officials with mistreatment including beatings

Palestinian workers who were sent back to Gaza from Israel last week say that Israeli authorities treated them very badly. They claim that they were forced to remove their clothes, kept in cages, severely beaten, and one worker even said they were given electric shocks.

“They hurt us and hit us with batons and metal sticks. they made us feel embarrassed. they made us suffer from hunger and thirst,” said Muqbel Abdullah Al Radia, another worker, to CNN.

Most people from Gaza who have jobs work in building things or growing crops. They usually stay away from home for weeks instead of traveling back and forth, which is why many of them were in Israel when Hamas carried out a terrorist attack on Saturday, October 7th.

Al Radia said that when the war started, he and some of the other workers from Gaza ran away to Rahat, a city mostly inhabited by Arab Bedouins in the south of Israel. He claims that the local people gave them to the Israeli army.

“They took away our phones and money, so we couldn’t talk to our families. They gave us food on the ground in plastic bags,” he explained.

When the attack by Hamas on Israel happened on October 7, the Israeli media initially worried that the attackers were among the workers who had permits to be in the country. However, a security official from Israel later said to CNN that the men were actually detained because their work permits were taken away, not because they were suspected of being terrorists.

The security official said that sometimes, they kept certain people in detention to keep them safe because they were in danger of being harmed by Israeli communities.

Six groups in Israel that protect people’s rights have asked a court to review and decide if these detentions were done against the law and without a good reason.

Gisha, an organization in Israel that helps Palestinians move freely, said last week in a statement that it believes the conditions for people held in these facilities were very bad. They think the detainees were treated badly, including being hurt physically and emotionally, and that the conditions were not humane.

A lot of the workers are saying they didn’t know where they were being brought to. The Palestinian Prisoners Society, a human rights group in the occupied West Bank, said that a lot of people were kept in two detention places – one in Ofer near Ramallah and another in Salem near Jenin.

Another worker from Beit Lahiya, Mahmoud Abu Darabeh, said that he was beaten by Israeli forces.

Abu Darabeh said that he was captured on the second day of the war. “He said that we were locked up in cages like dogs. They hurt us, said mean things to us, and didn’t care if we were sick or not. Some of us got hurt, and our feet became infected because we didn’t receive any medical help. ”

The men had to answer a lot of questions every day from the Israeli authorities about their houses and family.

If one of your family members is a police officer of Hamas, you might get physically hurt. I know some people whose rib cage was completely broken, and sadly, some people even died because they were tortured. ” He shared this with CNN.

He also explained how some of the workers died while they were in detention or when they were trying to cross into Gaza.

“Abu Darabeh mentioned that a few individuals passed away while coming here because they were physically attacked and given electric shocks. ” He said he saw other people being shocked while they were detained.

A person from Israel said to CNN that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) knew about some cases where IDF soldiers treated Gazan workers badly.

There have been incidents of mistreatment of people who are being held outside of the authorized detention centers. These incidents were taken very seriously, and the people responsible were punished,” the official said using a translator. They told us that four soldiers were fired from the IDF because of abusive behavior, and two soldiers were put in military prison for their actions.

When the official was asked if any of the prisoners died because they were treated badly, they said that they knew about two deaths of workers from Gaza who were held in custody. However, they explained that these deaths were not caused by mistreatment, but by existing health problems that the workers had before they came to Israel.

The official said that, as far as he knew, these abuses did not involve electric shocks.

CNN watched some of the videos that show the claimed mistreatment, but they are not able to confirm if they are true or not. They have videos of people who are being kept somewhere against their will, with their hands and feet bound, sitting under the hot sun, and being hurt and moved forcefully. There is a video where a lot of people on a bus are blindfolded and their hands are tied.

The security official told CNN that the IDF is looking into these videos. They confirmed that two of the videos are real. One video shows IDF soldiers kicking someone who was detained, and another video shows a big group of detainees who were tied up, blindfolded, and treated badly. The IDF punished soldiers who were in these videos, according to the official.

The army says that the behavior shown in the video is terrible and goes against their rules. The text says that some soldiers and reserve soldiers in the videos have been temporarily stopped from doing their jobs.

The people that CNN talked to were some of the workers from Gaza who had permission to work in Israel. Hamas attacked Israel and killed many people, including kidnapping others.

As a reaction to the attacks, Israel started a non-stop bombing on Gaza. The defense minister, Yoav Gallant, also ordered a total blockade on the area.

Before the October 7 attacks, around 18,000 people from Gaza had permission to go to Israel for work. This is because the wages in Israel are much higher, sometimes ten times more, than in Gaza.

Before anyone was given a permit, the Israeli authorities would have made sure they were thoroughly checked for security purposes.

Right after the attack, Israel took away the workers’ permits from Gaza. This made it against the law for them to stay in the country. Because they couldn’t go back to Gaza, many people attempted to escape to the occupied West Bank.

“They stopped us from doing what we needed to do. We tried to go to the West Bank, but they stopped us and kept us in unknown places. They tied our arms, covered our eyes, and took us on buses. There were around 200 to 300 of us trapped between metal fences. They hurt us and questioned us every day and night,” said one worker who spoke to CNN. Another man, who did not give his name, shared a similar story of mistreatment.

Many workers told CNN that they were forced to have their eyes covered and their hands tied up for a long time. Some people said they were kept in a separate area that was enclosed by a fence. They mentioned that this made the weather extremely hot during the day and very cold during the night.

The security official said that in the beginning, some places didn’t have shade, but they fixed this within a few days. The person in charge said that the detainees were only held down when moving from one place to another.

On Friday, when they went into Gaza, a lot of men seemed very filled with strong feelings. When CNN asked people questions, many were too afraid to share their personal information because they were worried about being treated badly.

One man, who lives in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp, cried as he explained how they were forced into small metal enclosures and not allowed to sleep, which is a well-known type of torture.

Every so often, they approached us and requested us to get up. “Get up, sit down, get up, sit down, get up,” he said. In one spot, there were about 150 of us inside a metal box. It had a strong, unpleasant smell. I believe it was previously used for raising chickens or rabbits.

Another worker from Al-Zaytun Quarter in Gaza City also told CNN that he and other detainees were forced to repeatedly stand up and sit down.

“They harmed us, stole our money, removed our clothes, and left us naked. ”

He said that he had been wearing only his underwear for more than 20 days.

    Dehumanization  and Insults

Amani Sarahneh, who speaks for the Palestinian Prisoners Society, said that some of these men were taken into custody while traveling to the West Bank, while others were detained within the West Bank itself.

The men wanted to go to the occupied West Bank, but Israel took away their permits. This made their stay in Israel illegal, but it was difficult for them to go back to Gaza because the border crossings were closed by both Israel and Egypt. They thought it would be safer for them to be in an area controlled by Palestinians instead of needing permits for the West Bank.

Sarahneh told CNN that the organization doesn’t know how many men were held, even though they tried many times to get information from the Israeli authorities.

Sarahneh told CNN that many of the workers shared similar experiences.

She said that many people talked about being very hungry and getting hurt every day. They were tied up and kept away from others. Some videos have been shared online, showing how the Palestinians in jail are treated badly and not like humans.

“They were not accused of any wrongdoing, but they were questioned and subjected to severe torture, abuse, and physical violence. They were treated inhumanely and were insulted,” she explained.

Dror Sadot, who speaks for B’Tselem, an organization that advocates for human rights in the areas under Israeli control, stated that the recent attacks by Hamas on October 7th have resulted in a significant increase in violence against Palestinians.

She said on CNN that the mistreatment of Palestinians is happening from the highest authority, with important people not considering Palestinians as human.

She said that the strong words and the intense anger about the crimes committed by Hamas slowly affects the individual soldiers, who then treat any Palestinian with extreme anger.

Sadot said that they are not convinced by the IDF’s handling of abuse cases based on their long-term experience.

“She said that we have been looking into this for a long time. The military system of enforcement acts as a way to cover up wrongdoing, hardly leading to any charges. ” “So people might argue that those cases are rare and not typical, but if soldiers keep getting away with their actions, and if the military policy itself allows this, without any consequences for their actions, then things will just keep happening,” she said.

Tired and hurt, but extremely happy to be back

Some people look old, tired, and very sweaty, while others seem to be hurt.

At least three people have serious cuts on their wrists that look like they were caused by being tied up.

Most of the men don’t have any personal items except for the clothes they’re wearing.

A 58-year-old man named Mohamed Atallah was wearing a plastic tag on his wrist.

He showed CNN a list of his things taken away in prison that were never given back to him.

Some workers who returned to Gaza on Friday said that Israeli authorities put them on buses that took them to the crossing into Gaza, where they were left.

They had no choice but to walk for about three hours in order to enter the enclave, according to some people who spoke to CNN.

The workers went into the Gaza Strip, and a video from CNN showed that some of them knelt down and began to pray.

They knelt down and pressed their foreheads against the ground, expressing gratitude to God for returning to Gaza. It has become an unbearable place since they were last here.

We were in a very bad condition, I promise. Bilal Aysha said to CNN that every day felt awful and scary. I’m so grateful to be home again. “He said that he hopes God will bring happiness back for everybody. “

10,000 people killed in Gaza – Hamas health ministry

The health department in Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas, reported that over 10,000 individuals have died in the Palestinian area since Israel began bombing it a month ago.

The ministry reported that over 4,000 children were among the people who died.

The number of people killed in Gaza during Israel’s conflicts with Hamas since 2007 is higher than the United Nations’ estimate of around 5,400.

Israel started attacking Gaza after Hamas murdered 1,400 individuals and took over 200 hostages on October 7th.

It means that it is breaking down Hamas’ buildings and killing its soldiers in order to stop Hamas from being able to harm Israel anymore.

US President Joe Biden has doubted the correctness of the health ministry’s statistics, while the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) caution against trusting information from a terrorist organization.

But, last week, Richard Brennan, who works for the World Health Organization (WHO) and is in charge of emergencies in the region, said that he trusted the numbers given by the health ministry. He is based in Cairo.

“We believe that the systems for managing information that the health ministry has implemented are effective,” he stated, also noting that the data gathered over the years has been reliable.

On Sunday night, the Israeli military attacked the Gaza Strip very intensely. They have now said that in the last 24 hours, they hit 450 places.

The health ministry controlled by Hamas said that over 200 people were killed in the overnight attacks.

The head of Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City said to the BBC that due to communication problems, people were using donkeys and their own cars to transport dead bodies instead of using ambulances.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said that there has been no communication in Gaza for the third time since the war started, and they have lost contact with their teams.

On Monday morning, communication was fixed, but it is still hard to get information from Gaza City.

The Israeli military has said that its soldiers have now reached the coast in the southern part of Gaza City. This means that they have effectively split the territory into two separate parts.

The leaders of important UN groups have made a rare statement together. They are asking for a quick ceasefire to help people in need. They are saying that the situation has gone on for too long and needs to stop now.

“For nearly a month, the entire world has been closely observing the situation in Israel and the occupied Palestinian area with shock and horror. The increasing number of lives lost and families torn apart has been deeply distressing,” explained the leaders of the United Nations.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators attempt to overrun Turkish US military facility

This is the troubling moment when supporters of Palestine attempted to forcefully enter a United States military base located in Turkey, which is a member of NATO.

Fights broke out outside the Incirlik Air Base in the city of Adana today. A few hundred people gathered to support Gazans who are being hurt by Israel’s bombings.

A video on social media showed them sprinting on a dirty field while holding flags from Turkey and Palestine.
The protesters broke through barriers and threw plastic chairs and rocks at the Turkish police.

Police officers in protective gear stayed strong, hitting people with their sticks during close fights and using strong water sprays and tear gas against the crowd.

Videos show people running in the opposite way and trying to keep safe from the water blast.

The protest was arranged by a Turkish aid organization called IHH. It took place shortly before US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was scheduled to have discussions about the crisis in Gaza in Ankara.
The president of IHH, Bulent Yildirim, spoke to a crowd in Adana and asked them not to harm the police.

“My friends, it is not right to throw rocks or engage in similar actions because it may lead to the police and soldiers going to Gaza to fight. They will go there when the appropriate time comes,” he explained.

A representative from the CPS said that a person named James Sheen, who is 39 years old, has been accused of breaking into a place, planning to move money obtained illegally, and actually moving that money.

Michael Jones, who is 38 years old, has been accused of breaking into someone’s place and is now facing one charge of burglary.

Fred Doe, who is 35 years old, and Bora Guccuk, who is 39 years old, have both been accused of working together to move illegal money.

They will all go to court in Oxford on November 28.

  • Prince Harry declines invitation to attend father King Charles’ 75th birthday celebration

Prince Harry declines invitation to attend father King Charles’ 75th birthday celebration

Prince Harry has been accused of saying no to an invitation to celebrate his dad, King Charles III’s, 75th birthday.

The King is going to have a special birthday next Tuesday. He will celebrate at Clarence House in London to celebrate this important day.

While his closest family and friends will be there, sources say the Duke of Sussex won’t be going.

This is very different from Charles’s 70th birthday because Harry and Meghan postponed their honeymoon to go to his garden party.

This time it seems like Harry has said no to hanging out with his dad because his book, Spare, made the Royal Family upset.

According to MailOnline, Harry has declined the opportunity to spend time with his father for a second time.

In September, he said no to the king’s invitation to go to Balmoral for Queen Elizabeth II’s death anniversary. He was in the UK at that time but went to a charity event instead.

Harry and Charles haven’t talked to each other in person since last September when they were mourning and attending the funeral for the late Queen.
Harry flew from California to the UK to go to King Charles‘s crowning ceremony in May. However, he only stayed there for a short time, less than a day, and quickly visited Buckingham Palace before going back to the US.

According to someone close to the royal family, Prince Harry did not receive any birthday greetings from his father or brother, Prince William, in September. Additionally, the Royal Family did not publicly acknowledge his or his daughter, Lilibet’s, birthdays like they did for other members of the royal family.

The official website of the Royal Family has taken off Harry’s HRH (His Royal Highness) title.

It is believed that Charles may not be contacting Harry because he is upset and disappointed about how Queen Camilla was portrayed in his book.

Earlier this year, someone on the inside said that Harry and Meghan will not create any TV shows or books about their family anymore to prevent causing any more distress to their family.

Prince Harry, in the Heart of Invictus documentary, indirectly expressed his dissatisfaction with his upbringing as a member of the royal family. He mentioned feeling alone and lacking assistance, stating that he did not have a support system to rely on. He also admitted to burying his past painful experiences.

Australia’s PM praises China development following discussions

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has stated that there has been notable improvement in relations with China following discussions with President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

Mr Albanese arrived in Shanghai on Saturday. He is the first Australian leader to go to China since 2016.

The four-day visit is seen as an important step towards improving relations, after a series of disagreements over trade and security.

Trade is very important- Mr. Albanese wants Chinese tariffs on Australian goods to be stopped.

Mr Xi was expected to request permission to have more involvement in important Australian industries.

Both men promised to keep working together for the benefit of their countries, even though they had disagreements in the past.

President Xi welcomed Mr. Albanese to the Great Hall of the People. He said that China and Australia have the potential to become trusting partners and are on the right path to improving and developing their relationship. This was reported by state broadcaster CCTV.

Mr Xi told Mr Albanese that Beijing wants to maximize the benefits of the China-Australia free trade agreement.

Before their discussions, Mr. Albanese explained to reporters that we should work together with China when possible, but also express our disagreements when necessary and participate in things that benefit our country.
I believe there are encouraging indications. We have already seen some barriers to trade between our countries being removed, and there has been a significant increase in trade between our countries.

He is going on a trip after tensions between Australia and China. This was because Australia wanted to investigate where Covid-19 came from, and China responded with sanctions on Australian exports like beef, wine, and barley.

This also happens at the same time as the 50-year anniversary of when Gough Whitlam, an important Australian leader, went to China to meet with Mao Zedong in 1973. It was the first time an Australian prime minister visited China after the two countries started having official relationships.

Reporters asked Mr Albanese if Australia can “trust” China. He answered that his previous interactions with Mr Xi have been “good” and “helpful”.

However, we understand that we have different ways of governing, different beliefs and principles, and different past events that shape our societies. But we judge and interact with each other based solely on our appearances and first impressions.

However, there are many issues and worries about safety that need to be resolved in the talks happening on Monday.

Yang Hengjun is an Australian writer who has been held in prison in China since 2019. His health is getting worse, and there are people in Australia asking their leader, Mr. Albanese, to help get him released.

Experts say that Canberra’s increasing military relationship with the United States and its recent changes to its defense strategy, which are believed to be aimed at countering China, may create challenges in finding common ground between the two countries, other than their economic interests.
Some experts think that Beijing might want to get more access to Australia’s resources and renewable energy industries. However, the Australian government has been taking steps to prevent Chinese companies from owning important minerals and mining projects.

Mr Albanese said to the reporters that he was happy with the way Australia and China talked and worked together during the meeting.

He mentioned that Russia’s attack on Ukraine and the troubles in the Middle East were discussed during the meeting. However, they did not talk about the “14 issues” that China had with Australia when their relationship was in a bad state.

Mr Albanese said it was important to talk about guardrails and military collaboration between the United States and China.

  • Diplomats from South Africa to leave Israel

Diplomats from South Africa to leave Israel

South Africa will bring back all its diplomats from Tel Aviv after Israel launched heavy air strikes on Gaza on Sunday night.

The attack was one of the largest by Israel since the war started a month ago.

According to Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, around 200 people died.

South Africa’s government, which has always strongly supported Palestinians, strongly criticized Israel on Monday.

The government said it might ask to remove the Israeli Ambassador, Eliav Belotsercovsky, because he made insulting comments about South Africa.

The text means that Ambassador Belotsercovsky’s presence in South Africa is not acceptable. The statement also says that they will use diplomatic methods to handle his behavior in the country.

The Foreign Minister, Naledi Pandor, stated that the government thinks Israel’s response is now about punishing everyone and not just individuals.

Israel says it is trying to reduce the number of civilians who get hurt and claims that Hamas is using innocent people as protection.

Many South Africans have been upset and angry about Israel’s attacks on Gaza lately, and they showed their feelings by protesting.

Earlier this year, the South African embassy in Israel was changed to a smaller office called a liaison office.

  • Palestinian activist detained ‘after slaughter call’

Palestinian activist detained ‘after slaughter call’

Ahed Tamimi, a well-known Palestinian activist, was taken into custody by Israeli authorities in the occupied West Bank.

Ms Tamimi, who is 22 years old, was kept in custody for one night in the village of Nabi Saleh, reported the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society.

The military in Israel said to AFP news agency that they believed she was encouraging violence and terrorist actions.

Israeli news outlets said that Ms Tamimi was taken into custody because she made a threatening post on Instagram where she talked about killing Jewish settlers.

“[When comparing], she allegedly wrote that what Hitler did to you was something trivial,” the newspaper Haaretz reported. The statement refers to Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany’s killing of six million Jews during the Holocaust.

The post and the account with Ms Tamimi’s name and photo cannot be seen online anymore.

Israel’s ultra-conservative Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, shared a picture on X(formerlyTwitter) that seemed to depict an Israeli soldier holding Ahed Tamimi in a bedroom.

He said she showed”compassion and support for the Nazi people on social media” and promised:”No acceptance of terrorists and people who support terrorism. “

However, Ms Tamimi’s mother, Nariman, said that she didn’t write the post.

As a teenager, Ahed Tamimi came to represent resistance against Israel’s occupation around the world.

In 2015, a teenager who was 14 years old at that time was caught on camera biting an Israeli soldier. The soldier was trying to capture her younger brother.

Two years later, she got arrested because she was caught on camera hitting and kicking an Israeli soldier during a fight near her house. She was given a punishment of eight months in jail by an Israeli court.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society stated that Ms. Tamimi was one of 70 Palestinians who were taken into custody during Israeli raids in the West Bank and East Jerusalem on Sunday night.

SinceOctober7th, there have been a total of 2,150 people detained in that place. This all started when gunmen from Hamas in Gaza attacked Israel, resulting in the death of 1,400 individuals and 240 being held as hostages.

Israel has been attacking Gaza without stopping and they have also sent soldiers on the ground for over a week now in order to try to wipe out Hamas. Over 9,700 people have died in Gaza, according to the health ministry controlled by Hamas.

There has been a sudden increase in violent incidents happening in the West Bank.

The United Nations says that 141 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces. This mostly happened when there were fights after Israeli forces searched and arrested people or during protests supporting Gaza.

Two Israelis have died because of Palestinians in the same time frame.

Around 600,000 Jewish people currently live in 140 communities that were established after Israel took control of the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the 1967 Middle East war.

Many countries believe that the settlements go against international laws, but Israel disagrees.

Australia’s PM and Xi had long-awaited meeting in China

The Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, and the President of China, Xi Jinping, have met in Beijing to have discussions in order to improve the strained relationship between the two countries.

MrAlbanese arrived in Shanghai on Saturday. He is the first Australian leader to go to China since 2016.

The visit is seen as an important moment in improving relations, after a series of conflicts over trade and security.

MrAlbanese wants China to stop charging extra fees on Australian products, and he believes this topic should be the main focus of discussion.

Mr Xi is likely to request more opportunities to get into important Australian industries.

Mr Albanese said that we should work together with China when we can, but if there are things we don’t agree on, we should speak up. We should also focus on our own country’s interests. He said this before the meeting while talking to reporters in Beijing.

His trip comes after a period of no communication between countries caused by Australia requesting to look into the beginnings of Covid-19, and China stopping key Australian exports like beef, wine, and barley.

This also happens to be the 50th anniversary of Gough Whitlam’s famous trip to China in 1973. It was the first time an Australian prime minister visited China after the two countries started diplomatic relations.

When reporters asked if Australia can rely on or have confidence in China, Mr. Albanese said that his previous interactions with Mr. Xi have been good and helpful.

However, we understand that we have different ways of governing, very different beliefs based on those ways, and different past experiences. But we judge each other based on what we see on the outside.

Monday’s talks will have some things that people can’t agree on and some worries about safety.

Australian writer Yang Hengjun has been held in China since 2019 on charges of spying. His health is getting worse and people in Australia want their leader, Mr. Albanese, to help get him released.

Analysts say that Canberra’s increasing military relationship with Washington and its recent changes in defense strategy, which are seen as targeting China, might make it hard for the two countries to agree on matters other than economic interests.

Some experts think that Beijing may try to get more opportunities to use Australia’s resources and renewable energy industries. However, the Australian government has done things to stop Chinese people from owning important minerals and mining projects in the country.

  • Christians in Gaza fear they won’t survive war

Christians in Gaza fear they won’t survive war

In the past month, there has been a lot of fighting in Gaza City. Pope Francis has been calling the priest and people who go to Holy Family Church to make sure they are okay.

He prays and feels very sorry for the person.

George Anton is staying in the church with his wife and three daughters. They feel a bit better when they hear from someone, but they don’t think it will help them stay safe.

“We have faith in Pope Francis, but we feel discouraged because we doubt that other people will listen to the message of peace,” he says sadly. I can’t explain how I feel. It is extremely frightening. You feel like you are just sitting and waiting for it to be your turn to die. You don’t know the time, the way, or the reason.

George, who works for the Roman Catholic charity Caritas, has had difficult discussions with his young daughters who are 8, 10, and 12 years old.

I am explaining everything honestly to them. I tell people that we support Jesus, but I also inform them that they are in a fight. Sometimes, I leave to go buy bread, bring medicine or clothes. I always say “Goodbye” when I go. If I come back, everything is okay. If not, then that’s the end.

He says that his girls cannot avoid or escape the terrible experiences of death and destruction.

This is what 600 people in the church and on the internet are listening to. This is what they can see from the constant bombing in the area. They are too scared to sleep at night. The noise from the rockets is very loud and scary.
When Israeli soldiers told over a million people living in the top part of the Gaza Strip to go to the bottom part, hundreds of thousands of them did not listen.

A lot of people from the small group of Christians, around 1,000 people, decided to bring their families and stay in their churches. They believed that staying there would keep them safe, as they have been during previous conflicts between Israel and the Palestinian armed groups.

After the church building was hit by a powerful Israeli air strike, the feeling of safety was completely gone.

The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem said the attack was a very serious crime like a war. Israel’s military said it attacked a Hamas base that was close by and used to launch rockets.

In a sad setting, the bodies of people who were crushed to death were placed in white sheets in the church courtyard for a funeral on October 20th. 18 Christian women, men, and children were murdered.

In the West Bank, churches have held special prayers to support and stand with the people in Gaza who are going through difficult times. They also remember those who have lost their lives. Many Christian people from Gaza have family here, but it has been difficult for them to see each other because of the permit system in Israel.

At a church in Beit Sahour, Shireen Awwad lights a candle for her aunt who died in St Porphyrius.

I feel extremely sad and upset. “I can’t think, I can’t move,” she says.
Shireen has relatives in Gaza City, including cousins, uncles, and an aunt. Sadly, her aunt got injured in a church explosion and had to undergo hip replacement surgery without anesthesia at Shifa Hospital. This was because there weren’t enough medical supplies available.

She says her family members are proud people from Gaza who have lived there even during multiple wars.

Every time we asked them if they wanted to leave, they would say no because these are our roots. “This is the place we were born,” Shireen says. However, this time is different because, for the first time, they are uncertain about whether they want to continue staying or if they will even survive.

The small coastal strip has had a Christian population for a very long time. Porphyrius was a bishop in the fifth century. He is buried under the church.

A lot of Christians have left, especially after Hamas took over Gaza in 2007. Israel, just like many other countries, considers the Islamist movement to be a terrorist group. Egypt and another country put a very severe restriction on what can go in and out of Gaza after the takeover.

Reverend Munther Isaac, who is a pastor in Bethlehem, feels very shocked and emotionally hurt after witnessing events in Gaza.

He is also worried about what will happen to one of the oldest Christian communities in the world.

“He says that there were people from the Church in Gaza in the first council of Churches. ” We care about everyone’s life, but our biggest worry is that the long-standing Christian tradition in Gaza might stop.

Pope Francis wants the fighting to stop, but Palestinian Christians are upset with what other Church leaders, like Justin Welby, have said about the war. Justin Welby is the leader of the Church of England and the spiritual leader of millions of Anglicans.

In Gaza City, there was a building called the Greek Orthodox Cultural Centre. It was destroyed by Israeli shelling last week. A person named George Anton is very sad and feels hopeless as he watches the destruction.

We are good people who have done nothing wrong. We don’t have anything to do with politics or military actions at all. We are regular people. “Why would anyone want to target us. What are they targeting us for. ” He wonders

We have had many friends who are not our friends anymore. Some people moved to Khan Younis to live with their family members, but unfortunately, they all died. They were hit by a rocket and all the buildings fell down on top of them. They are all gone, but we don’t have time to be upset.

Every day, you hear that someone died, a family and a home were destroyed, and an institution was eliminated. We cannot take all of this.

Finally, he promises to remain in the church with his loved ones.

“He said we’ve been getting many calls to leave, but we won’t go. ” This is our rightful place. This is where we live.

  • “Ghana’s spirit hasn’t confirmed Bawumia yet” – Rev Owusu Bempeh says

“Ghana’s spirit hasn’t confirmed Bawumia yet” – Rev Owusu Bempeh says

In the wake of the National Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer election, Rev. Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah, the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International, has shared his spiritual insights regarding the outcome.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged victorious in the NPP primaries, but according to Rev. Owusu Bempah, the spiritual realm has not yet confirmed his candidacy.

During his sermon on Sunday, November 5, 2023, Rev. Owusu Bempah addressed his congregation and the nation, shedding light on what he believes is a spiritual dimension to Dr. Bawumia’s victory. Bawumia secured 118,210 votes, representing 61.47% of the NPP delegates’ support, defeating his main rival, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who obtained 71,996 votes, representing 37.41%.

In his remarks, Rev. Owusu Bempah stated, “Yesterday, NPP delegates decided on the vice president. They have chosen him, but Ghana’s spirit has not confirmed him yet. Spiritual realm not confirmed.” He went on to emphasize that while some aspects have been confirmed, others remain uncertain. Thus, he urged Dr. Bawumia not to become complacent in the wake of his victory, as there is still work to be done both physically and spiritually.

Rev. Owusu Bempah’s perspective is rooted in the belief that spiritual forces play a role in Ghana’s political landscape. He suggested that the “spirits at the four corners of Ghana” have not yet reached a decision regarding the flagbearer. This view implies that there may be spiritual processes or considerations that transcend conventional politics.

In a somewhat cryptic statement, Rev. Owusu Bempah announced that the next president of Ghana would come to his pulpit to testify. This assertion indicates that he believes the future political leadership of the country may involve a spiritual component or guidance.

It is crucial to emphasize that Rev. Owusu Bempah’s comments are framed in a spiritual context and should not be interpreted as a political endorsement or a prediction of political outcomes. In a democratic system, political leadership is determined through elections and the will of the electorate, and spiritual perspectives do not directly influence electoral results.

  • There is no ‘stalemate’ in the confrontation with Russia – Zelensky

There is no ‘stalemate’ in the confrontation with Russia – Zelensky

The disagreements between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his military leaders are becoming more evident to the public. They have been arguing openly about the situation in the war with Russia.

Igor Zhovka, who is a deputy leader of Zelensky’s office, criticized a statement made by Ukraine’s military leader. The statement said that the war with Russia is at a standstill. This has caused tensions in Kyiv and raised concerns about Western support for the conflict.

He was replying to an interview with top military official Valery Zaluzhny. The military official said that we have reached a point in technology where neither side in the war has an advantage and it is unlikely that there will be any significant new developments.

Zhovka said on Ukrainian TV that the Russians will thoroughly read, write down, and analyze Zaluzhny’s interview. He said he got calls from colleagues in other countries who were very worried and wanted to know if the war was really at a point where no progress was being made.

Maybe this is a really smart plan, and we will have some success doing it. But honestly, I am very surprised,” Zhovka said.

The tensions are happening at an important time in the war. The slow counter-attack from Kyiv and the violence in the Middle East are causing worries that the Western financial and military help could decrease.

Zelensky disagreed with Zaluzhnyi’s opinion during a press conference with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Saturday. However, he acknowledged that people are exhausted after being at war for 18 months.

People are feeling very tired. Everyone is feeling sleepy or lacking energy. People have different opinions. But everyone is the same as a person, no matter what their status is. However, this does not mean that there is no solution to the situation. I want to make this clear again. We have already discussed this. Zelensky said this is not news.

We should come together and fix the problems, collaborate more with our allies on protecting the airspace, open up the skies again, and empower our team to take aggressive actions. This is something we should consider. Just only this. This text is not about our future location. “But now,” explained Zelensky.

Zaluzhny talked about what Ukraine should do and the kind of help they need from partners to overcome challenges.

However, the way he described the conflict made people in Ukraine question and gained attention from the media worldwide. The interview with Zelensky, given to TIME, made the Ukrainian president seem more and more alone.

“I have the strongest belief in our victory, even when everyone else may doubt it. ” Nobody, according to Zelensky in his conversation with TIME, it is challenging to convince Ukraine’s allies to believe in the same things, and it requires a lot of effort and dedication.

People are getting very tired of the war. It feels like it’s a never-ending feeling that keeps getting worse. Zelensky said, “You can witness this in the United States, in Europe. ”

He said that the war between Israel and Hamas has taken focus away from Ukraine’s fight against Russia, making it harder to keep other countries interested in helping Ukraine.

Certainly, we suffer negative consequences from the happenings in the Middle East. Zelensky said that people are dying and the world needs to help there to save lives.

He made additional comments while von der Leyen was visiting Kyiv on Saturday.

The war in the Middle East is very clear and it distracts everyone’s attention. I believe that one of the goals of the Russian Federation is to achieve something, and this is definitely true. “We observe the results,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader recently showed support for Israel after the Hamas attacks on October 7. He suggested that leaders from around the world should visit Israel and offer help to the people who have been affected by these terrorist attacks.

Ukraine is currently facing a challenging situation as it tries to fight back against Russian forces in the southern and eastern parts of the country.

Kyiv was able to attack from the air and successfully hit a shipyard in the city of Kerch, located in the Russian-held Crimean peninsula.

The leader of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykola Oleschuk, praised and congratulated the pilots who carried out the attacks in a message on Telegram. A person in charge from Russia said that a place where ships are built was attacked, but the weapons from the sky stopped the missiles from hitting their target. CNN cannot confirm or check either of the statements on its own.

The Crimean Bridge, which is also called the Kerch Bridge, was closed for two hours on Saturday and no vehicles were allowed to pass during that time. Russian government did not explain why they closed the road that connects mainland Russia to the occupied peninsula.

  • US secretly supplying Taiwan with military hardware

US secretly supplying Taiwan with military hardware

When President Joe Biden of the United States recently approved a $80 million grant to Taiwan for buying American military equipment, China expressed strong disapproval and opposition towards the decision made by Washington.

To someone who didn’t look closely, it didn’t seem like a lot of money. It cost less than one modern fighter jet. Taiwan has ordered over $14 billion worth of military equipment from the United States. Is an additional $80 million important.

Beijing usually gets angry when other countries offer military support to Taiwan, but this time they reacted differently.

The $80m is not money that needs to be paid back. It is paid for by American taxpayers. For the first time in over 40 years, the United States is using its own funds to send weapons to a location that it does not officially acknowledge. This is happening through a program called foreign military finance (FMF).

After Russia attacked Ukraine last year, FMF provided approximately $4bn of military support to Kyiv.

This money has been sent to Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel, Egypt, and other places. But so far, it has only been given to countries or organizations that the United Nations acknowledges. Taiwan is not present.

After the United States started acknowledging China instead of Taiwan in 1979, it still sold weapons to Taiwan according to the Taiwan Relations Act. The goal was to sell a specific amount of weapons to Taiwan, enough for their defense against China, but not too many to harm the relationship between the United States and China. For many years, the US has used a strategy of not clearly stating their position to work with China, while also supporting Taiwan strongly.

But over the past ten years, China has become much stronger than Taiwan in terms of military power. The old formula doesn’t work anymore. Washington says that its policy is still the same, but it has actually changed in important ways. The US State Department has denied that providing FMF implies acknowledging Taiwan in any way.

However, it is clear in Taipei that America is changing its relationship with the island. This is especially true because the United States is urgently encouraging Taiwan to increase its military strength. Taiwan is not as powerful as China and requires assistance.

The US is saying that it is very important for us to make our military stronger. Wang Ting-yu, a legislator from the ruling party in Taiwan who is close to President Tsai Ing-wen, says that we are sending a strong and clear message to Beijing that we are united with US Congressional leaders.

He says that the $80 million is just a small part of what could be a much larger amount. He also points out that in July, President Biden gave permission for the sale of military services and equipment worth $500 million to Taiwan.

Mr Wang said that Taiwan is getting ready to send two groups of soldiers to the US for training. This hasn’t happened since the 1970s.

However, the most important thing is the money. According to him, this could be the start of receiving as much as $10 billion in the next five years.

According to Lai I-Ching, the president of a think-tank called the Prospect Foundation, it can take as long as 10 years to finalize agreements for military equipment. “With FMF, the US is giving weapons directly from its own supplies and paying for it with US funds – so we don’t have to go through all the steps to get approval. ”

This is important because even though a divided Congress has delayed giving Ukraine billions of dollars in aid, Taiwan seems to have more agreement and support from both sides.

However, the war in Gaza will definitely limit America’s ability to provide weapons to Taipei, just like the war in Ukraine did. President Biden wants to give support to Ukraine and Israel during times of conflict. This may involve providing additional financial assistance to Taiwan as well.

When asked about how the money from the US will be used, the Ministry of National Defence in Taipei refuses to say and just smiles without giving any information.

However, Lai believes it is possible to make educated guesses about the effectiveness of weapons like the Javelin and Stinger anti-aircraft missiles. These weapons are highly effective and forces can quickly learn how to use them.

“He says that we don’t have enough of them and we really need a large quantity. ” In Ukraine, the Stingers have been used up very fast, and the way Ukraine has been using them shows that we might need 10 times more than what we have right now.

The experts who have been observing for a long time have a straightforward opinion: the island is unprepared for an attack from China and in a very bad condition.

There are many problems. Taiwan’s army has many old battle tanks, but not enough new, lightweight missile systems. The way the army is organized, how they plan their strategies, and their teachings have not been changed for 50 years. Some front-line units do not have enough people, they only have 60% of the number of people they should have.

According to reports, Taiwan doesn’t have any counter-intelligence operations in China and its system for selecting people to serve in the military is not working properly.

In 2013, Taiwan reduced the time people have to serve in the military from one year to four months. However, they have now decided to increase it back to 12 months, starting from next year. However, there are more difficult problems or obstacles to overcome. The young men who go through it playfully call it a “summer camp”.

A recent graduate said that there was no consistent training. We used to visit a place where people practice shooting every two weeks, and we used old guns from the 1970s. We aimed at objects and fired. However, nobody was taught how to aim correctly, so everyone kept failing to hit their targets. We didn’t do any exercise. There is a test to check our fitness at the end, but we didn’t get ready for it.

He explained a situation where older army leaders don’t care about or want to teach these young men, mostly because they will only be there for a short period of time.

Many people in Washington believe that Taiwan needs to quickly improve and strengthen its military. So, the US is now helping to train Taiwan’s army.

For a long time, the leaders of the island have believed that it is very hard and dangerous for China to try to invade it. Similar to Britain, Taiwan focused on building up its navy and air force instead of its army.

The plan was to get them involved in the Taiwan Strait and destroy them on the beaches. Lai says that we are investing many resources in protecting the air and sea.

However, China now possesses the biggest navy in the world and a much stronger air force. A study done by a group of experts last year found that if Taiwan were to fight against China, its navy and air force would be completely destroyed in the first 96 hours of the battle.

Because of strong pressure from Washington, Taipei is moving towards a strategy called “fortress Taiwan. ” This strategy aims to make it very hard for China to take control of the island.

The attention will change to soldiers on foot, soldiers who fight on land, and big guns – pushing back against an attack on the beaches and, if needed, battling the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in the towns and cities, and from bases far inside the island’s jungle-covered mountains. However, this places the duty of protecting Taiwan back onto its obsolete military force.

After the US ended our communications in 1979, our army was mainly alone and cut off from the rest of the world. Lai says that they are stuck following the military beliefs and strategies used during the Vietnam War in the United States.

This didn’t concern Taipei or Washington until recently. During the 1990s and 2000s, companies from Taiwan and the United States were constructing factories throughout China.

Beijing wanted to be part of the World Trade Organization, so they worked to become a member. And they succeeded. The Chinese economy became popular worldwide, and the US believed that trading and investing would help keep peace in the Taiwan Strait.

But the increasing power of Xi Jinping, his form of patriotism, and Russia’s attack on Ukraine have shattered those comforting beliefs.

Taiwan has been very surprised by the things they learned from Ukraine’s invasion. Artillery has been very successful in war because it can shoot a lot of bullets quickly and hit targets very accurately, which is very frightening for the enemy.

Ukrainian teams have discovered that they need to keep moving right after they shoot their shells. If they stay in the same place for too long, the Russians will react by firing shells back at them.

Many of Taiwan’s artillery soldiers use old guns from Vietnam War or even World War Two. These items are moved by hand and it is hard and takes a long time to do so. They would be very easy targets.

Taiwan’s openness to potential harm is making Washington take action. That’s the reason why soldiers from Taiwan are being sent to the US for training, and instructors from the US are coming to Taipei to work closely with Taiwan’s marines and special forces.
However, according to William Chung, a researcher in Taipei, Taiwan cannot rely on itself alone to prevent China from taking action. This is another thing we can learn from the war in Ukraine.

“He says that the international society needs to decide if Taiwan is important. ” “If the G7 or NATO believe that Taiwan is important for their own benefits, then we need to involve other countries in the Taiwan situation – because this will make China reconsider the consequences. ”

Dr Chung says that China’s actions have unintentionally been supporting Taiwan to achieve its goals.

China is trying to expand its power and control in the South China Sea and the East China Sea. And we can see the outcome in Japan where the amount of money spent on the military is now being increased by two times.

He says that the outcome is changing the relationships between countries in the area. It includes important meetings between the US, Japan, and South Korea, stronger military agreements like the Quad and Aukus, and closer connections between the US and the Philippines.

“He says China is attempting to alter the current situation in the region. ” This means that Taiwan’s security is linked to the South China Sea and East China Sea. This means that we are no longer alone or separated from others.

There is currently a heated discussion in Washington about how much support the US should provide to Taiwan. Many people who have been observing China for a long time believe that if the US publicly commits to something, it would anger Beijing instead of stopping its actions. However, Washington is aware that Taiwan cannot protect itself on its own.

Someone who has been paying attention to China for a long time said that we should stay quiet about our plans, but still give Taiwan a lot of weapons.

Israeli military: Maybe fire at another target caused school explosion

On Saturday, we shared news that the United Nations refugee agency, known as Unrwa, confirmed that a school it manages in the Jabalia refugee camp was hit.

The school, which is being used as a place for people who are running away from fighting, was hit in two areas. One area had tents where people were living, and the other area was close to a wall where women were making bread. Juliette Touma, Unrwa’s director of communications, informed the BBC about this.

She said that Unrwa doesn’t know why it happened, but the health ministry in Gaza, which is run by Hamas, said that it was an attack by Israelis that killed at least 15 people and injured 70 others.

This morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) informed Reuters news agency that according to an initial investigation, they did not intend to target that place. However, it is possible that the explosion happened because the IDF was aiming at a different target.

Israel demands that hostages be released during battle break

Israel has stated that it is willing to consider a pause for humanitarian reasons, but only if progress is made in addressing the issue of hostages.

Mark Regev, who works closely with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, believes that any agreement to stop the fighting should include the release of hostages.

Lyse Doucet from BBC asked Regev about Hamas saying that 60 people were killed by Israeli strikes on Gaza.

Regev says that he cannot say for sure if it’s true or not. He thinks it might just be something Hamas is saying to manipulate people’s minds.

They don’t want us to hurt them anymore, so they are saying that we are causing harm to our own people. They want us to believe something that is clearly not true.

Regev said that Israel has agreed to allow unlimited access for food, medicine, and water to enter Gaza through aid trucks.

Fuel is important because it can be used to produce electricity for hospitals, which is beneficial. However, it can also be used by Hamas to fuel their military operations, including shooting rockets at Israel.

On a small road in the middle of Al-Maghazi camp, which is the smallest and most crowded of the refugee camps, there is a big bulldozer that is working hard to clear away the debris from four houses that have been completely destroyed.

Over a hundred people were present during the explosion. The Gaza health ministry believes it happened because of an attack by Israel. The leader of Al-Aqsa hospital states that 52 people died and some others were hurt.

People who lived there tried to use their hands to break through layers of hard cement to save the people stuck under the collapsed building.

Muhammad Al-Alul, a person who takes pictures for the news, lost his wife and four of his kids (three girls and one boy). He only has one son remaining.

“He says he wishes he could have been with them and died together with them,” he tells me.

I was, like always, telling about the quickly developing situation at Al-Aqsa Hospital. All of a sudden, I found out that a raid happened at Al-Maghazi camp. I didn’t think that my children could be trapped in the rubble.

Al-Maghazi is a small place in Gaza where Israel told people in the north to go to be safe from the fighting. However, there are still ongoing airstrikes in the southern region.

Muhammad, a civil defence officer who quickly went to assist, says that there is nowhere safe in Gaza. “They tell the Palestinians to move to the south, but they attack and hurt them all over the place – on the streets, in schools where people go for safety, and even in hospitals. ”

On the street close to where the bomb went off, the people moving around the main market in the camp seem almost like usual. People want to buy the rest of canned food and vegetables that farmers collect from nearby farms.

You see that people walking by look very sad, scared, and unhappy. A lot of people haven’t been able to change their clothes or take a shower for a long time.

  • Court grants sole survivor of ‘Deadly Voyage’ bail of GHS2,000,000

Court grants sole survivor of ‘Deadly Voyage’ bail of GHS2,000,000

The lone survivor of the infamous “Deadly Voyage” stowaway, Kingsley Ofosu, is still being held by police after he was unable to comply with the terms of his bail. He is suspected of defrauding the government of €130,000.

He was granted GH¢2,000,000 bail by Takoradi Circuit Court ‘B,’ presided over by Ms. Henrietta Charway, on Monday. The bail was granted with two sureties, one of whom had to provide proof of ownership of landed properties. Ofosu has to deposit his Ghanaian passport at the court registry, and the sureties have to deposit their Ghana Cards at the court as well.

As of the time of filing this report, Ofosu had not met the bail conditions, and the case has been adjourned to Monday, November 20.

The prosecution, Inspector Robert Yawson, told the court that the investigations were not yet finished, so the accused did not enter a plea in the interim.

Ofosu, popularly known as Cudjoe, will respond to inquiries regarding accusations of theft and deception under false pretences in addition to the €130,000 fraud charge.

Sylvia Ansah, the complainant in this case, is an Assistant Registrar at Takoradi Technical University (TTU) and a resident of West Tanokrom, according to Inspector Yawson. Kingsley Ofosu, the accused, is a trader who lives in Tanokrom, Takoradi.

According to the prosecution, Ms. Ansah’s uncle Charles Ohemeng, who is based in Germany, gave the accused an undisclosed amount of money in 1998 in exchange for clearing his goods that were shipped to the Tema Port.

Ofosu fled without giving Sylvia Ansah, the complainant, the money from the sale of the vehicles and goods after clearing one tipper truck, one petrol tanker, one 33-seater Mercedes Benz, one 207 Mercedes Benz, one Ford Macronova, and one set of industrial printing machines, among other valuable goods, totaling 130,000 Euros (GH¢1,613,124.62).

According to Insp. Yawson, the accused also took GH¢300 from the now-deceased complainant’s sister Emma Ohemeng in 1998, claiming to be renting a larger apartment for her at Top 10, Takoradi. However, he vanished as soon as he got the money.

Insp. Yawson said an informant spotted the accused at a funeral at Ningo Prampram in the Greater Accra Region, and reported the case to the police at Kwesimintsim. The police personnel liaised with Ningo Prampram District Police and arrested Ofosu.

The prosecution stated that in his investigation caution statement, the accused admitted the offense.

Kingsley Ofosu gained international attention in 1992 when the crew of the Ukrainian-manned cargo ship MC Rugby, flying the Bahamian flag, massacred a group of African stowaways. Ofosu lost his half-brother, Albert Cudjoe, who was shot when they tried to escape as the only two survivors.

Upon the international attention that the crew members’ trial garnered, several film companies reached out to Ofosu to acquire the rights to his narrative. Eventually, he agreed to a contract with Viva Films and Union Pictures. HBO and the BBC were to receive distribution and funding for the Union Pictures/Viva Films undertaking.

In “Deadly Voyage,” Omar Epps played Kingsley Ofosu, Joss Ackland played the captain of the ship, Sean Pertwee played Ion Plesin, David Suchet played Andreas Vlachos, David Dontoh from Ghana, Oscar Provencal, and Juliet Asante were among the cast members.

157 individuals lost their lives and over 300 people sustained injuries during the earthquake.

Officials are saying that the search and rescue missions are almost finished.

Right now, the main goal is to help homeless people find shelter and make sure they have the necessary supplies they need. But the teams that save people said to the BBC that they don’t have enough tents.

Many people who lost their homes slept outside or in makeshift tents in very cold weather last night.

One person who lost her sister in the earthquake talked about her sadness: “We have no choice but to live like this. ” We no longer have anything. There is nothing to eat and nowhere to live. My sister left our family. We need assistance.

Relief efforts are concentrated on the faraway areas of the two districts most affected by the 6. 3-magnitude earthquake – Jajarkot and Rukum West.

People are sharing stories about scary things that happened to them, amazing times when they were lucky to survive, times when they were almost hurt, and times when they lost loved ones.

Baljit Mahar is one of the people who lost their seven-year-old son.

“We couldn’t save him, but the rest of the family members were able to quickly leave when the earthquake woke us up,” Mahar told Reuters in the distant village of Chiuri in the hilly Jajarkot district.

He saved his son’s dead body from their collapsing mud and stone house.

Mahar said that all of his things and clothes are buried under the rubble, and he doesn’t have anything left.

Baljeet BK, another person who survived in Rukum, has asked the government for help in finding a place to live for the people who lost their homes.

There is no food to eat and nowhere to stay. People are living outside, exposed to the elements. We must remain in this chilly weather. “Whole houses have disappeared. ”
In the parts of Jajarkot that were hit the hardest by the earthquake, they are getting ready to cremate a large number of people who passed away.

People are feeling really sad because they’ve lost loved ones, and they’re also scared that more aftershocks might happen.

Officials in Jajarkot and West Rukum have advised people to not go back to their homes.

Over 250 smaller earthquakes have occurred in the area since Friday. According to a research center, there were six aftershocks that had magnitudes higher than 4.

The government of Nepal has agreed to receive aid from friendly countries and promised to rebuild the areas that were damaged within one year.

The government has also mentioned that they will give free medical care at the hospitals for the people who are hurt.

They told people to pay attention to fake phone calls that promise help.

Tidal Rave Festival: How Stonebwoy was sacked from stage to allow Sarkodie to perform

Stonebwoy’s team has expressed outrage over a shocking incident at the Tidal Rave Festival in Accra on November 4, 2023, leaving fans and artists in disbelief.

According to a Facebook post by Gerrald Israel, a member of Stonebwoy’s team, the BHIM president experienced a shocking incident of disrespect during his performance at the Tidal Rave Festival. This incident raised concerns about the entertainment industry’s lack of courtesy and adherence to schedules

According to Gerrald, the saga began when Stonebwoy and his team arrived at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel at 10:12 PM, which was about two hours before his scheduled performance from 12:15 AM to 1:00 AM.

The festival organizers notified them of a changed running order, resulting in an additional hour’s delay, extending the waiting time for Stonebwoy to a frustrating four hours. Despite this unexpected delay, Stonebwoy patiently waited, while other artists such as KiDi, Efya, La Meme, and Joey B performed during the original time slot allocated for Stonebwoy.

However, Stonebwoy eventually took the stage at 1:27 AM with plans for a 45 to 50-minute performance. Within just 30 minutes of his set, chaos erupted when Sarkodie’s team, led by DJ Mensah, abruptly halted Stonebwoy’s performance by instructing his DJ to stop playing. This interference not only disrupted the artist’s flow but also left the audience bewildered.

In conclusion, Gerrald expressed his outrage, highlighting the blatant disrespect and inappropriate behavior exhibited by Sarkodie’s team, emphasizing that it is not only unacceptable but also tarnishes the reputation of the entire music industry.

A man has gone to court to decide if he will be sent back to Italy after being accused of killing a woman.

Michele Faiers, who was 66 years old, was discovered dead in her house close to the town of Casoli in Italy on Wednesday.

Michael Whitbread was taken into custody in Shepshed, a town in Leicestershire, later on the same day.

The 74-year-old person went to a meeting on Saturday that was organized to decide if they should be sent to another country.

Mr Whitbread was asked if he agreed to be sent back to Italy, where he currently resides, in the Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

He said he didn’t do it, and he was told to come to court on Thursday.

The court was informed that the retired driving instructor and shop owner is currently in England visiting family and has a ticket to go back to Italy.
The judge, John Zani, said that this is just a claim and Mr. Whitbread has not been found guilty of anything yet.

To Mr Whitbread, he said: “The Italian government wants you to come back and go to court there because they accuse you of something very serious.

If you are found guilty, you will most likely receive a long prison sentence.

  • Israeli cease-fire in Gaza rejected by Blinken

Israeli cease-fire in Gaza rejected by Blinken

Secretary of State Antony Blinken of the United States said that if Israel agrees to stop fighting in Gaza, it would give Hamas the opportunity to come together again and launch more attacks.

But he said that Israel needs to do everything it can to avoid hurting innocent people in the area.

Mr Blinken said these things on Saturday in Jordan after having discussions with Arab leaders, who are requesting the fighting to stop right away.

Israel has been accused of doing bad things during the war.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, said at a press conference with Mr. Blinken that they do not believe it was an act of self-defense. The conference also included representatives from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.

The US still stands by Israel’s ability to protect itself from Hamas.

Mr Safadi said that the conflict is like a very intense war that is causing harm to regular people, destroying their houses, hospitals, schools, mosques, and churches.

“This action cannot be justified for any reason, and it will not make Israel safe or bring peace to the area. ”

People are worried that the war could involve other nearby countries and make the Middle East less stable.

MrBlinken believes that temporary breaks in the fighting, instead of a total stoppage, are necessary to help people in need. He mentioned that although the US and Arab leaders may not agree on certain ways to bring lasting peace to the area, their ultimate objective is the same.

“He said that we all know that it is not only our desire, but also our duty to do everything we can together to find a better way for the future. ”

Israel started attacking Gaza after Hamas murdered over 1,400 individuals in Israel through unexpected assaults on October 7th. Over 200 people were taken by force and most of them are still believed to be held captive.

More than 9,488 people have died in Gaza, as reported by the health ministry controlled by Hamas.

MrBlinken’s visit to Jordan happened the day after he went to Israel to talk with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel. Netanyahu said there would be no temporary break for help until all the Israeli people who were taken captive are freed.

The Israeli military has been attacking an area in the northern part of Gaza, after telling people many times to leave for their safety.

Around 400,000 regular people are still in the area, as said by David Satterfield, an important person from the US who cares about helping people in the Middle East.

The Israeli military has been attacking areas in the southern Gaza Strip, and the United Nations has stated that there is no safe place in Gaza.

MrBlinken mentioned that it’s important to greatly increase the amount of assistance that is being sent to the enclave through the Rafah crossing in Egypt.

Currently, only a small number of deliveries are going to Gaza after Israel blocked supplies of power, food, and water several weeks ago.

The US Secretary of State also met with Lebanon’s temporary Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, to talk about the fighting happening near Lebanon’s border with Israel. There has been a lot of fighting between a group called Hezbollah and the Israeli military.

Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah, has not yet demanded more attacks on Israel but has indicated that there may be room for future actions.

MrBlinken is going to Turkey on Sunday for two days to talk with President Erdogan about the conflict.

The visit is happening because Ankara has brought back its ambassador from Israel and stopped talking to Mr. Netanyahu to show they are angry about the violence.

During his victory speech on Saturday, November 4, at the Accra Sports Stadium, he called on everyone to support him in the pursuit of continued progress for the party and the nation.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I have my own vision and my own priorities. Given the opportunity by you and the people of Ghana to lead, I shall govern as my own man with guidance from God almighty.”

“My vision is to build an inclusive food self-sufficient, data-driven and systems-based nation that will fully participate in the global digital revolution to resolve our problems and also usher in a golden age of benefits from our national resources,” he said.

Already, President Akufo-Addo has expressed his utmost confidence in Dr Bawumia to retain power for the New Patriotic Party.

The President said Dr Bawumia’s victory is a reward for his hard work to the party over the years.

    President Akufo-Addo

Handing over the leadership the of party to Dr Bawumia at the Accra Sports Stadium, President Akufo-Addo said he is confident he can inflict a third successive defeat on the National Democratic Congress’ John Mahama at the polls.

President Akufo-Addo also said that the Vice President can unite the party with the support of all the contestants to ensure the NPP remains in power.

“Sixteen years of work in opposition and in government has been rewarded by the party with this leadership that has been confirmed upon him, and I am confident Dr Bawumia will be able to unite this party with the assistance of Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Afriyie Akoto and Addai-Nimoh, and all the other contestants and provide us the strong leadership to take on the NDC in 2024 and inflict a third successive defeat on John Dramani Mahama,” he said.

Certified results announced by a Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission, Siriboe Quaicoe, revealed that Dr Bawumia polled 118210 votes representing 61.47% while his closest contender Mr Agyapong polled 71,996 votes representing 37.41%.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto who placed a distant third polled 1,459 votes representing 0.76% while Addai-Nimoh garnered a meagre 731 representing 0.41%.

A total of 192 446 delegates voted in Saturday’s presidential primary. The total valid votes were 193, 346 with 900 votes rejected. Turn out was 94.63%.

    Kennedy Agyapong

Dr. Bawumia’s victory in the presidential primary was anticipated from the beginning, although he fell short of the 80% target set by his campaign team.

Many Members of Parliament and Ministers expressed their support for Dr. Bawumia, a popular figure within the NPP.

This historic win makes Dr. Bawumia the first non-Akan to lead the NPP in a general election, breaking the trend since 2008 where he served as the running mate to President Akufo-Addo.

The 2024 election is expected to be highly competitive, with both Bawumia and Mahama being strong candidates, each with their strengths and weaknesses.

The election’s outcome will depend on various factors, including the state of the economy, the candidates’ campaigns, and voter turnout.

Dr. Bawumia, in his victory speech on November 4 at the Accra Sports Stadium, called on everyone to unite in pursuit of continued progress for the party and the nation.

  • Israel-Gaza conflict diverts attention from Ukraine – Zelensky

Israel-Gaza conflict diverts attention from Ukraine – Zelensky

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has said that the war between Israel and Gaza is distracting attention from the conflict in Ukraine.

He said that Russia had one of the goals of invading Ukraine completely in February 2022.

He said that the fighting in Ukraine was not at a point where neither side was making progress, even though the country’s highest military leader recently said it was.

Ukraine’s attack in the southern region has not been very successful up until now.

This has made some of Kyiv’s Western allies worried about getting tired of war, with some suggesting that some countries might be less willing to keep providing Ukraine with advanced weapons and money.

On Saturday, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov confirmed that soldiers from the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade “Zakarpattia (Transcarpathia)” were killed. He ordered a thorough investigation into what he called a “tragedy”.

He didn’t mention the number of soldiers who died in the southern Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine. Ukraine’s military stated that it was due to a Russian missile attack on Friday.

According to news in Ukraine and Russian military bloggers, over 20 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in a village near the front lines while attending an award ceremony.

Ukraine’s military said that on Saturday they were able to damage the sea and port facilities of a shipbuilding plant located in Crimea. Crimea is a southern peninsula that Russia took control of in 2014 without permission.

Russia’s defense ministry said that out of the 15 missiles fired by Ukraine on a plant in the city of Kerch in eastern Crimea, 13 were stopped and not hit their target, but a Russian ship was damaged.

During a meeting in Kyiv, President Zelensky said that the ongoing Middle East conflict is diverting attention away from Ukraine.

He said Russia wanted to make this focus less strong, but emphasized that we have the ability to handle everything.

Mr Zelensky was asked to give his thoughts on the recent statement made by Ukraine’s top military commander, Valery Zaluzhny. According to Zaluzhny, the war is transitioning into a static stage, which means it is becoming more stationary. This could be advantageous for Moscow as it would give them the opportunity to strengthen their military forces again.

“Everyone is getting exhausted and there are different views,” Mr. Zelensky responded, saying, “But this is not a deadlock. ”

He said that Russia has control over the skies and Ukraine needs F-16 warplanes and better anti-aircraft defenses from the US quickly to improve the situation.

The Ukrainian leader said that last year, people talked about a difficult situation in Ukraine’s battlefield. However, he mentioned that Kyiv later won important battles in the northeast region of Kharkiv and the south region of Kherson.
Mr Zelensky also denied that he was facing increasing pressure to think about discussing with Russia, as stated in the media.

Today, none of our European Union, United States, and other partner leaders are urging us to start negotiations with Russia and give away something to them. This won’t happen.

Moscow also gave its opinion on Mr. Zaluzhny’s statement on Thursday. The spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin said the current situation on the battlefield is not at a standstill.

Dmitry Peskov said that Ukraine needs to achieve all the goals set during the war. He also mentioned that it is silly to even consider the possibility of the Kyiv regime winning on the battlefield.

President Putin has said many times that Ukraine’s counter-attack did not succeed. His Defence Minister, Sergei Shoigu, recently stated that Kyiv is losing the war even with new weapons from Nato allies.

In a recent report, the UK defense intelligence stated that Russia probably lost about 200 armored vehicles during their attacks on the town of Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine.

It is possible that Russia has lost many soldiers near the town since October 2023.

The report said that Russia’s leaders are willing to accept a lot of people being harmed or killed in order to gain small amounts of land.

Recently, Moscow has been attempting to make progress in eastern and north-eastern Ukraine. However, Ukraine’s military claims that they have successfully defended against all the attacks.

The statements made by the two sides in the conflict have not been checked and proven to be true by a neutral party.

Creative industry is filled with hypocrites- Keche

The Ghanaian music duo, Keche, has criticized the creative arts industry, alleging that many of its participants are hypocritical and do not genuinely support artists’ growth.

According to Keche, there are instances where individuals attempt to disrupt their group’s relationship by speaking ill of one member in an effort to break their partnership.

Keche’s Joshua shared an example of an industry player with connections to them who discouraged event organizers from booking them for events and instead recommended their rivals.

“There are people in Ghana who want to be on board and support Keche who even play our recordings. We went for a show in Nigeria with one Ghanaian actress who was supporting us. Joycelyn Dumas was there as well as Adjetey Anang.

“So when we were returning after the program the organizer called and asked if we knew the lady we went with and we said yes. The organizer warned us to be careful with her because he approached her about wanting to book us for a show but she told him to forget us and book 4X4 instead,” he said in an interview with Kingdom FM.

He further lamented how some industry players have attempted to break their music group in the bid to see their downfall.

“And this has been happening around Keche. You have no idea how people would call Andrew and tell him to forget me [Keche Joshua] because he is the one doing well with the singing. And the same people would call and tell me I am the one best. These people are players in the industry,” said Keche Joshua.

  • Four unexpected events that could sway US election in 2024

Four unexpected events that could sway US election in 2024

In simple terms, it seems like the 2024 election might be similar to the 2020 election, but with Donald Trump running against President Joe Biden instead.

Many people feel frustrated that voters are always given the same options and everything seems to follow a predictable pattern. Even the surveys show that the competition is very close.

But as any historian will explain, unexpected things can occur within a year to change the course of a race. In 1979, President Jimmy Carter may have lost the election because of a situation where people were held hostage. And in 2020, a serious disease outbreak greatly changed the nation.

Let’s take a look at four unexpected things that might completely change how this election goes.

What happens if an independent candidate becomes popular.

If you are not a Republican or a Democrat, it is highly unlikely that you will become the US president. But candidates who are not affiliated with the main political parties have caused major changes in elections before, and they may do the same thing again in 2024.

In 1992, a rich businessman named Ross Perot got 19% of the votes, and many people believe that this caused the Republicans to lose the presidential election. In 2000, Ralph Nader, a candidate from the Green Party, got 97,488 votes in Florida. This helped George W Bush win the swing state. Some people believe that Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate, negatively affected Hillary Clinton’s chances in the 2016 election.

This election could have a similar surprising outcome. A high-ranking American politician I spoke with this week mentioned that President Biden and Republican front-runner Donald Trump have low approval ratings. This could give a chance for other politicians to become more influential. A recent poll by Gallup also indicates the same thing.

Two people who are not affiliated with any political parties have already joined the competition. Cornel West and Robert F. Kennedy Jr are activists who used to be part of the Democratic Party but have now chosen to leave it. Before he changed, surveys showed that he had the potential to gain the backing of about 20% of people who support the Democratic Party. Now that Kennedy doesn’t belong to a political party, he could attract voters who think conspiracies are true and potentially steal votes from Trump.

This election is expected to be very close, so even a small number of votes going to a candidate from a different party can have a significant impact.

Can something happen to one of them before Election Day?

Yes, this is a common refrain: both President Biden and President Trump are elderly. Trump will be 78 years old and Biden will be 82 on Inauguration Day in 2025. Though neither of them appears to be in bad condition, what if anything did happen to them in the days leading up to the election?

If they become very ill or die before New Year’s Day 2024, there are many people on both sides who want to be chosen. However, things become more difficult as states complete their final primary ballot preparations.

If something really bad happens in the middle of October 2024, their name will still be listed on the national ballot. According to the Constitution, even if you can’t make a promise, you can still participate in a race even if you are no longer alive.

This has happened before: In the year 2000, Mel Carnahan was running to become a US Senator when he died in a plane accident while on his way to a campaign event. He was chosen for the position after he passed away, and his wife, Jean, served until a new election took place in 2002.

If the person who wins the election dies after the election, but before they start working as the president, then the vice president would take their place. After that, they would have to choose someone to take their place as Vice President – but that person would have to be accepted by Congress.

This is very difficult, so let’s wish that all candidates stay very healthy.

What happens if a war in another country gets worse.

President Biden is seeking to be re-elected but is dealing with serious problems from other countries – Russia invading Ukraine and Israel fighting against Hamas. China is putting more pressure on Taiwan’s airspace with its military, and this is dangerous.

His team has tried to use this situation for political gain, showing him as a trustworthy commander in chief. People think he has done a decent job managing the two intense wars. But there are already concerning patterns for the president’s campaign: especially a decrease in support from young Democratic voters, who are upset because Biden strongly supports Israel while the number of Palestinian casualties increases.

And if any of these wars go beyond the current borders – if Russia attacks a country that is a member of Nato, if armed groups supported by Iran join the Hamas fight against Israel – that would disrupt plans and cause chaos during the election year.

Will the US be involved or pulled into a situation from its current position where it can prevent or discourage actions.

Will all the confusion happening globally harm the chances of Donald Trump’s opponent. Or will Trump gain support from people who are tired of paying for and potentially participating in wars abroad again.

There are many things that they can’t control, especially in the Middle East. This is not a good situation for any person running for president to be in.

What would happen if Donald Trump goes to jail.

The ex-president is accused of 91 crimes and will have four separate trials next year.

The maximum possible punishment is spending many years in prison, but few legal experts believe that is probable, even if found guilty.

Trump’s lawyers have been working really hard but haven’t been able to delay the trials until after the election. They understand that if they win the election, it is unlikely that they can be punished for their actions until four years later, unless Congress decides to impeach them.

If he gets sent to jail before the election, there’s still a chance he can win.

Being a person who has been found guilty of a serious crime does not stop him from participating in a presidential election. Actually, a hundred years ago, a candidate managed to get almost one million votes while being in prison. It would definitely make campaigning difficult, but polls show that many Republican voters would not be discouraged.

If he becomes president while in prison, he might be able to forgive himself for any federal crimes, but if he is imprisoned for state crimes, he would not have the power to do the same. This means there is a strange chance of being the president while also being in prison.

We are in completely new and unknown situation, and even the smartest legal experts in the country are confused.

  • Filipino DJ shot and killed during live broadcast

Filipino DJ shot and killed during live broadcast

A person who talks on the radio in the Philippines was killed while doing a live show.

Juan Jumalon, also called DJ Johnny Walker, got shot while inside his home studio, as per the police.

President Marcos Jr strongly criticized the killing of the radio journalist in very strong words.

According to the National Union of Journalists in the Philippines, four journalists have been murdered since Mr. Marcos Jr became the leader in June 2022.

“The attack is even more wrong because it happened at Jumalon’s own home, where the radio station was located,” the union stated.

Mr Jumalon was using Facebook to show a live video at about 5:30 in the morning when someone came into the room where he was recording and shot him.

Based on reports from the local media and information from the police, the suspect requested permission to enter Mr. Jumalon’s radio booth in order to announce something important on the radio.

The police have obtained CCTV footage in that area.

Mr Jumalon’s shows are usually played on 94. 7 Gold Mega Calamba FM Facebook page, which has about 2,400 people who follow it.

The DJ’s wife rushed him to the hospital right after the incident, but unfortunately, the doctors confirmed that he was already dead when they reached there.

The police said they did not know about any previous dangers to his life.

The president shared on X platform that he told the police to do a careful investigation to quickly catch and punish the people responsible.

According to Freedom House, a US organization, the Philippines is considered to be one of the most unsafe countries for journalists.

  • Four-year-old captive detained on Hamburg airport’s tarmac

Four-year-old captive detained on Hamburg airport’s tarmac

The police in Germany are handling a situation where someone has taken hostages at Hamburg airport. This person drove through a fence meant to keep people safe and onto the area where planes take off and land.

A 35-year-old man and a 4-year-old child are still in a car parked under a plane.

The police are talking to the driver who came to the airport on Saturday night at around 8:00 PM local time (7:00 PM GMT).

All flights at the airport are stopped and there is no time given for when they will start again.

The police think that a disagreement over who gets custody of a child is the reason behind this plan.

The police say that the person being investigated fired their gun two times up into the sky and also threw bottles that were on fire from their car.

He drove his car to the part of the airport where planes usually park, called the apron.

We are at a location with many emergency workers. Hamburg police said on X, which is a platform called Twitter, that we are currently thinking that there is a situation where someone is being held hostage and it is not changing.

Psychologists and specially trained officers who negotiate are at the location, the police said. They are also supported by special forces.

On Sunday morning, the Hamburg police said that the situation had not yet been resolved.

  • NPP is formidable party – Evans Nimako

NPP is formidable party – Evans Nimako

The Director of Research and Elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Evans Nimako, stated that the results of the recently concluded presidential primaries demonstrate the party’s commitment to democracy and adherence to the law.

He noted that despite the high level of competition, the elections were conducted freely and fairly without any electoral violence, which is why all the aspirants accepted the outcome.

Speaking to Joy News, he said “If you look at the efforts put in by our candidates …it tells you that the NPP is formidable and I must say that they have all accepted that the conduct of this exercise has been free, fair and transparent.”

When asked if he was surprised about the votes garnered by a known non-conformist, Kennedy Agyapong, he said “ it is an endorsement of the NPP philosophy, democracy.

It was an endorsement of the party’s attitude and posture, nature, and scope. We believe in participation and views of our rank and file. That we do not impose our opinions on people and people must have the free will to express themselves.”

He stressed that  the most important thing was that “at the end of the day, the party has spoken that our presidential candidate is Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.”

Mr Nimako added that overall, the “NPP is happy, and “democracy has won.”

On Saturday, November 4, the New Patriotic Party elected its sitting Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as its new leader and flagbearer for the 2024 presidential elections.

Dr. Bawumia secured victory in the NPP primaries with 61.47% of the vote, making him the party’s nominee for the presidential race. The certified results, announced by Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, revealed that Dr. Bawumia received 118,210 votes (61.47%), while Kennedy Agyapong, his closest rival, received 71,996 votes (37.41%).

Dr. Afriyie Akoto and Addai-Nimoh received 1,459 votes (0.76%) and 731 votes (0.41%), respectively. A total of 192,446 delegates participated in the presidential primary, with 193,346 valid votes cast.

There were 900 rejected votes, and the turnout was 94.63%. Dr. Bawumia faced stiff competition and political drama on his path to becoming the party’s flagbearer, including a strong challenge from Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and fallout from the Super Delegates’ Conference.

  • 5 deaths in ten days highlight an issue that Australia wishes to address

5 deaths in ten days highlight an issue that Australia wishes to address

Manuela Whitford feels really shocked and emotionless because five women were killed in Australia in just 10 days by men they were acquainted with.

“She said we’re used to it now. we often hear it, and I feel emotionally unaffected,” she said. “But on the other hand, I think to myself, ‘Oh, my God,’ I am doing something positive for the people I am able to assist. ”

Whitford started Friends with Dignity, a charity in Brisbane. This charity helps families who have left because of domestic violence. They give these families everything they need to feel comfortable and at home in temporary housing.

Mostly, they are mothers with kids who don’t have a lot of things but feel scared and anxious about where they will go and how they will manage.

They don’t have much contact with others. This means that for many years, people have been made to believe that they are not good enough, that they are not valuable and not worth anything. This statement was made by Whitford from the charity’s warehouse located in the southern part of Brisbane.

Located in a hidden spot in an area with factories, there is a storage building where shelves are filled with items for people’s homes. These items include things like toys and mattresses that have been cleaned and stacked neatly, all set to be brought to apartments that are being taken care of by organizations that support people in need.

We hope that the donations will save lives, but recently in Australia, the focus has been on women who were unable to get away from men who were violent towards them.

Five women were killed within a span of ten days. Among them was a 21-year-old water polo coach who had recently ended her relationship with the person believed to be her killer. Additionally, a 65-year-old woman was killed by her elderly husband, who has been charged with murder.

So far this year, there have been 43 recorded cases of women who have died, according to a research project called Counting Dead Women. This project was started by a feminist group called Destroy the Joint, which got its name from a mean comment made by an Australian shock jock in 2012. The shock jock accused women leaders of “destroying the joint. ”

The latest suspected murder happened on Monday when the security staff at a hotel in Perth, Western Australia called the police after receiving a phone call from concerned family members of Alice McShera, who was a 34-year-old lawyer.

On Tuesday, the police inspector Geoff DeSanges told reporters that they looked in a room and discovered McShera’s dead body. A man who is 42 years old was found in a room with injuries that he caused himself. Later on, he was accused of committing murder.

On the last Sunday, a person named Analyn Osias, who was 46 years old and also went by Logee, was hurt really badly and died in a house in Kangaroo Flats, as said by the police in Victoria. A man who is 44 years old has been accused of killing someone.

A few days ago, a 21-year-old water polo coach named Lilie James was found dead in a school gym bathroom in Sydney. The police believe she had head injuries. They found her ex-boyfriend’s dead body at the bottom of a cliff. They think he killed himself.

During the same week, a 65-year-old woman named Thi Thuy Huong Nguyen was discovered with many stab wounds in her kitchen in Canberra, according to ACT Policing. The police took her husband, who is 70 years old and was also hurt, into custody. He had to appear in court from his hospital bed because he was accused of murder.

According to the police in South Australia, two days ago, they found the body of a 38-year-old woman named Krystal Marshall in the burnt remains of her house after a fire. A man, who is 48 years old, was accused of committing murder.

Between 2012 and now, the number of women killed by violence in Australia has been between 43 and 84 each year. This information is from Counting Dead Women.

Whitford began Friends with Dignity in her garage during the same year. Since that time, she mentioned that she has observed a difference in how people, including the police, react to domestic violence.

“It means having faith and actively hearing the person who has been harmed,” she explained.

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare said that the number of Australian women reporting domestic violence from their partner in the past year decreased from 1. 7% in 2016 to 0. 9% in 2021-22

However, a recent survey called the National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey (NCAS) in 2021 found that 23% of people think that it’s okay for domestic violence to happen when someone is feeling stressed in their daily life.

And 91% of people thought that violence against women was a problem in Australia.

People have been asking the government for help many times. The government started a plan to stop violence against women and children from 2022 to 2032.

The First Action Plan for the years 2023-2027 was announced in August. The most important item on the list of 10 things to do is to make progress in achieving equal rights for all genders.

The United Nations says that even though Australia is a modern and rich country, there are still sexist attitudes. This is because women in Australia do more unpaid work at home and earn less money over their lifetime compared to men.

Men continue to hold the majority of positions of power in boardrooms and Parliament. There has only been one female prime minister in the country, Julia Gillard, who gained a lot of attention for her powerful speech on misogyny that has been viewed by millions of people on social media.

A survey conducted in 2022 by the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership, which is led by Gillard, discovered that Australian men find disrespectful comments about women on the internet more acceptable compared to the rest of the world.

The First Action Plan has allocated 3. 5 million Australian dollars (equivalent to $2. 24 million) to fund a three-year trial of the healthy masculinities project. This project aims to identify effective ways to combat harmful messages that are specifically directed at men and boys on social media.

They didn’t say his name in the government statement, but experts mention Andrew Tate as an example. He is an internet influencer who has described himself as hating women. He will soon go on trial in Romania for human trafficking and rape.

Andrew Lines has been working for over 20 years to stop Tate’s harmful and sexist messages through a program called “The Rite Journey. ” This program helps students in Australia, New Zealand, and other places learn about good role models.

He says it’s becoming harder to stop the negative messages that children see on their cellphones, such as mean comments and easily available explicit content.

Lines said that they wouldn’t have been exposed to the mean and hurtful things that people are saying if they were a child. “It doesn’t have to be a harmful or provocative message. ” You can read mean and judgmental comments in many discussion threads.

The text is saying that nowadays, more men are being involved in being fathers compared to before. However, because families are different now, parents are spending less time with their kids.

On the other hand, being too involved as a parent can cause its own set of issues, he explained.

“If children don’t learn how to handle failure and rejection early on, even in small situations, it could become a problem when they face more significant challenges,” he explained.

But until people understand those lessons, government officials are making their efforts to address domestic violence stronger.

Last month, the police in New South Wales started a registry to keep track of people who repeatedly commit domestic and family violence. Recently, the Western Australian government announced that it wants more offenders to wear electronic tags.

As long as things don’t change much, people like Whitford from Friends with Dignity will continue to do whatever they can to help those who are affected.

On Tuesdays, some helpful people meet at the charity’s building to put together care packages and prepare orders for people who don’t have enough. Businesses are also participating by sending employees on outings as a part of their programs for social responsibility.

A housing shortage means there are not enough apartments for the charity to furnish. Therefore, the charity is giving more necessary items to women who cannot leave abusive relationships.

Whitford believes that everyone in the community needs to work together to stop more women from becoming victims of domestic violence.

She said that many people don’t ask if you’re okay because they are unsure of what to do if you share your answer with them. “So, learn and find out what resources are available near you. “

  • I am confident that Bawumia will lead the NPP to victory in 2024 – Afriyie Akoto

I am confident that Bawumia will lead the NPP to victory in 2024 – Afriyie Akoto

Former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has thrown his support behind the newly elected New Patriotic Party flagbearer.

Speaking at the event where Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was introduced as the new leader, he expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to lead the party to victory in the 2024 elections.

According to him, the party has made history by bringing Dr Bawumia.

“From today, we are going to see a new face. I am very confident that having worked with the Vice President on all the major institutions of the government for 6 years, he will lead us to victory come 2024“…,” he said on Saturday, November 4.

Earlier, the former minister conceded defeat to Dr Bawumia ahead of the official declaration of results.

In an interview with Joy News, he said that he had already called the Vice President to congratulate him and assured him of his support to enable the NPP ‘Break the 8’.

“First of all, let me congratulate the Vice President for such an emphatic victory. It means the New Patriotic Party has spoken with a huge voice that we have chosen Dr Bawumia to lead us into the elections next year.

“I have already called him to congratulate him on that, and we will be meeting at the stadium for the official announcement and formalities, but finally we are drawing a line in a very major historic event for the party which is choosing our leader for the coming years.”

While acknowledging the victory of Dr Bawumia, the former Minister noted his disappointment in losing in the polls.

According to him, he had gone into the race with the expectation of winning, nonetheless, he was appreciative of the delegates who cast their vote in his favour.

“…I really appreciate the delegates who stood by me and voted for me, it means that my message went down well with them,” he said on Saturday.

He also entreated all aspirants and party members to work together in unity to defeat the opposition National Democratic Party in 2024.

Palestinian American family grieves 42 relatives slain in Gaza in single day

Tariq Hamouda and his wife Manal are very sad because their family members from three different generations have died. They are not near the war in Gaza.

The Palestinian Americans, living in Maple Grove, Minnesota, are finding it hard to believe that their 42 relatives were killed in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. They have been struggling to understand this news for over a week now.

Hamouda tells us that his wife, who used to be called Saqallah before they got married, had a very sad experience. On October 19, their family home in the Sheikh Ejleen area of Gaza City was destroyed by two explosions. As a result, they lost four of her brothers, one sister, and many of their children.

Hamouda and his family believe that the attack was carried out by the Israeli air force. Israel has attacked Gaza City many times since October 7, including several attacks in that area on the same day.

CNN cannot verify or prove on its own that the strike was from Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they can’t say anything unless they know the exact location of the house. The family did not give CNN the coordinates because they were afraid of getting in trouble or being harmed.

A neighbor captured a video that shows the remains of a family’s home. The buildings were burned and destroyed, while the neighboring houses were not damaged.

“Yesterday, Hamouda told CNN that Manal is still refusing to admit what happened. ” However, the sadness that they are experiencing in their home in the Midwest is genuine.

She really loves everyone in her family. Hamouda said that his wife and he are from Gaza but have been living in Minnesota since 2004. His wife spent the summer with them.

There has been fear and lots of fights between Israel and militant groups in Gaza since then, but not like this, he says.

Israel started a war against Hamas on October 7. This was because Hamas broke through the barrier between Gaza and Israel and killed over 1,400 people, including civilians and soldiers. They also kidnapped more than 220 people. Israeli authorities reported this information.

In reaction, Israel carried out very destructive attacks on Gaza. It wants to get rid of Hamas, which is in charge of the land near the coast. However, the situation is difficult for the 2. 2 million Palestinians living there because they are unable to leave due to the Israeli and Egyptian border closures. They are stuck in the middle of the conflict.

According to recent information from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah, Israeli bombings have caused the death of over 8,485 Palestinians and injured more than 21,000 others. These numbers were gathered from sources in the Hamas-controlled area. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, another 1. 4 million people have been forced to leave their homes within the country. This happened after the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) advised people in northern Gaza to relocate to the southern part of the region.

But Hamouda doesn’t have enough time to properly grieve for the deceased, he explains, because he is still concerned about what will happen to the people who are still alive.

In South Florida, Manal’s cousin Eyad Abu Shaban is also very upset. “It feels as if everything around you suddenly freezes,” he explained.

“It’s not a small number like one, two, three, or four – it is a group of 42 members, and it’s extremely difficult to handle. ”

Abu Shaban says that the people who died were between three months and 77 years old. They were all living together in one place. His uncle, Essam Abu Shaban, his wife Layla Saqallah, and their son Ahmed were among the people who died. To stay safe from Israeli airstrikes, they had moved out of the nearby Tel El Hawa neighborhood and found shelter in Saqallah’s home, according to Abu Shaban.

Surviving family members told Hamouda that before the airstrikes, the IDF told them there might be military activity in the area. However, they were never instructed to leave their home.

“He said that they have destroyed houses both with and without giving people a warning. He feels upset and worried because there is a lot of fear and confusion among the people, and they have no safe place to go. ”

Hamouda says that his mother-in-law was on a balcony when the first attack happened. She managed to escape with the assistance of a family member who also made it out alive.

He said that the compound was destroyed again and many family members were killed.

A video, taken by family members who survived, and given to CNN, shows many dead bodies being put into a large grave covered in white cloth.

Hamouda said that his mother-in-law told him that his sons tried to leave quickly, but they didn’t have enough time. He also said that his family is not involved in any violent or dangerous activities and that they have no connection to anything.

Abu Shaban, a person who works in real estate in Boca Raton, said that his family were regular people who are not involved in any military or official roles, and some of them are medical workers.

Manal has four brothers named Saed, Omar, Ameed, and Khorsheed. Three of them are eye doctors, and the other one is an ENT doctor. Hamouda says they ran the biggest group of eye clinics owned by families in Gaza.

“We don’t have any members of Hamas in our family. ” They are normal people. Doctors, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and children,” Abu Shaban said.

“I think, if you want to get rid of Hamas, you should find the root cause. ”

The Maple Grove community has come together to show love and support to the Hamouda family.

Last week, people from the community went to the Brooklyn Park Islamic Center to pray for the family. A person who works for a Senator. The Minnesota office of Amy Klobuchar reached out to express sympathy and provide help, according to Hamouda.

But all Hamouda and Abu Shaban want is for the killing to end.

In today’s world, it’s unusual for everyone to witness innocent people being harmed. Families, complete families, were completely destroyed,” Abu Shaban said.

I want everyone to understand that the people of Gaza are just like everyone else. They feel pain, they bleed, they have families, and they have emotions.

He says that there are too many photos and videos of the conflict on social media, and they are overwhelming to see.

Activists, human rights groups, and international officials have asked for a stop to the fighting, but the war continues and has entered a new phase with risky ground operations.

Abu Shaban says that his family is still suffering until the killings come to an end. He feels like he is still trapped in a never-ending bad dream. I am still sleeping.
